I'm Richelle, and I'm from J-Troupe.

I started off with gymnastics and then I actually saw

one of my friends start dancing and I thought I would try it.

I'm Gabi, and I'm in J-Troupe.

I dance because it's the best way to express yourself at any time,

no matter what emotion.

Right now we're just warming up for J-Troupe rehearsal

and Kate walks in with my little sister.

That doesn't make sense cos she doesn't dance here.

Becca, what are you doing here?

Uh, your sister's here because she's interested in joining J-Troupe.

J-Troupe?

Gabi and Becca are sisters.

Gabi has been with us here at The Next Step Dance Studio

for a few years now.

But I think Becca has a lot of natural talent and

could be a bit of a threat to Gabi.

Since The Next Step won Regionals, a lot of kids and their parents

are very interested in joining the studio.

So what does that mean?

Well, it means everyone will still be able to continue

dancing here but I am going to have to hold auditions for J-Troupe.

-What?

-Auditions?

-That's ridiculous!

I'm not happy that I have to do the J-Troupe auditions.

Now that there's auditions, we all might lose our spot on J-Troupe.

I've been here for so long and I don't think it's fair

that I have to audition.

So, Miss Kate today was late to jazz class

because she forgot her car keys.

She had to take the bus to the studio.

PS - isn't it ridiculous that we have to audition for J-Troupe?

It makes no sense.

We've all been here for years, why now do we have to audition?

I know, and your sister thinks she can just come in and, like,

be in J-Troupe?

But you know what?

I am kind of worried about her. Like, what if she gets her hopes up,

auditions for J-Troupe, and then she gets cut?

She's going to be heartbroken.

And not only is it going to affect her,

it's going to affect my entire family.

That's what dance is - you make it and sometimes you don't.

Well, maybe someone should go talk to Miss Kate to make sure

all of the J-Troupers are safe.

Can you make sure that Becca gets a spot too?

I mean, I'm her sister, I wouldn't want her to be upset or anything.

I offer to talk to Miss Kate because if I want to be dance captain

one day, I have to prove to my team that I can lead it.

-So I think we're going to start with, like, a big jump.

-Yeah.

And end in that, but I don't know how to get out after that.

Hunter and I are just working out

the choreography for the J-Troupe auditions.

We're trying to make it hard, but also so that they're comfortable

with it and we're able to see what they're actually like as dancers.

since I've joined the Next Step Studio.

She's really looked out for me and I just appreciate her being around.

I feel like we have a solid foundation just because of our

then the whole group is threatening to leave the studio.

-Normally when you bargain with someone, you offer the other

it's my responsibility to be there.

just to see, like, the new talent to see if anyone can turn really well,

maybe a 'new Eldon'.

OK, so just to let you know how this works,

we're going to have two groups.

The J-Troupe auditions work in two parts.

First, we split them into two groups and we do the choreography.

And then they have these things called feature spots, which is

what they choreograph to show us their best moves.

You're going to throw your spins, your tricks,

every jump you have, OK?

I was a little upset when Becca didn't tell me

that she was auditioning, but I understand now.

My name is Josh and I'm auditioning for J-Troupe.

I started dancing through my parents.

They own their own dance studio.

And once I started getting better, they sent me to the best -

The Next Step.

At first, I got into dance because of Gabi, but now I do it for me.

We do fight a lot, but she is my older sister and I do love her.

Hi, I'm Noah and I'm from J-Troupe.

I dance because I truly love it.

It is a hard question to answer because I can

never really find the right words to explain it.

It's like a fire inside and, you know, there's nothing like it.

I dance because it gives me freedom.

When I'm down or I'm upset at something,

I can just dance and everything just goes away.

Hi, I'm Camille, I'm a J-Trouper.

Getting into dance was probably just watching TV shows

and then seeing all of these amazing dancers.

And I'm like, "Hey, I want to do that. That's what I want to do."

The J-Troupers are surpassing all my expectations.

You know, there's a few quirks here and there that we can iron out,

but that's what the auditions are for, right?

These are J-Troupe dancers.

The tricks they're throwing out are unreal.

By the time they get to A-Troupe,

they're going to be at the top of the game.

My favourite J-Troupe auditionee is Richelle.

She's technically on point,

she knows the choreography, and also she reminds me of myself.

So, not that I'm playing favourites...

There's a good chance that I underestimated Richelle.
