The Final Who Let the Dogs Out?

Hundreds applied, but only 27 made it

to the Dog House.

They battled it out,

with some of the most incredible dog stunts seen on TV.

And now, only two remain.

For one of them, a dream is about to become a reality.

Jake and Ice, and Charlotte and Harry

have made it all the way to the final.

This time, there can be only one winner!

But, who will win the Top Dog Trainer trophy?

That is the question.

Today, in this special final show,

we count down the top ten canine capers of the series.

We meet a dog that travelled more than a thousand miles

to make a new friend.

And, finally, a new Who Let The Dogs Out? champion

will be crowned!

This series, we've seen some truly incredible dog trainers,

and some amazing dogs.

Now, it's the finale, and only two remain.

This episode of Who Let The Dogs Out? is different than any other,

because our finalists are going to be choosing their own stunts to perform.

Let's take a look back at the journey that these two outstanding teams

have taken on their way to the finale.

I was, like, shocked. I was, like, "Whoa, we made it!"

Charlotte and Harry from Cambridge stormed through the first round.

Oh, my goodness gracious!

After a dock diving masterclass that blew the competition

out of the water.

Go!

Despite Charlotte falling ill, and missing a vital training session...

Harry, hold it!

..victory in the quarterfinals was secured,

with a sensational high-velocity flyball display.

Congratulations, you have made it into the top three.

Charlotte has sometimes had to up her energy levels,

to keep Harry focused.

Yes, oh, yes.

But, she proved what she was made of

when she completed Zak's high-pressure challenge in style.

-Good boy.

-Fantastic work.

I'm really proud of Harry, just now,

because he's done really, really well.

And it's just really cool to be in the final.

Harry is fearless and fast,

and if Charlotte can keep him focused,

these two have a great chance of winning that trophy.

It's just going to be really fun. And a tiny bit scary.

I'm feeling great, because we've won three,

and I'm hoping to win a fourth.

Jake and Ice from Swindon were the very last team

to try out for Zak and secure a place in the Dog House.

That's what I like to see.

But, they immediately proved their worth with a sensational

volleyball victory in the first round.

Jake and Ice, congratulations! You guys made it through!

Jake struggled to control Ice in Zak's goalkeeping challenge.

She can't do that during Showtime, at all.

She's got to be in her goal area.

But, a spectacular performance at Showtime saw them

into the semifinal.

Oh, and he saves it! Unbelievable save!

Ice is a highly toy-motivated dog,

and it took all of Jake's skills to keep her attention...

Ice, basket.

..and finally conquer Zak's high-pressure challenge,

for a place in the final.

Good girl!

I hope we can go all the way and win,

but it depends on the other competitor,

and what the trick is.

Ice is very sporty, and extremely focused

and if Jake can keep her under control,

the trophy could be theirs.

If I lose, it will be a bit sad, to get all the way to the final

and not win.

It's the final, and things are about to get a whole lot tougher.

Zak's been busy preparing the Dog House for a challenge

that will test these two extremely talented teams to the limit.

Tell me what it feels like to be here, for you.

Well, I'm over the moon,

just to be here.

It's really exciting.

I think you'll do really well.

Jake and Ice, tell me what's going through your mind,

being in the final?

Quite scary, because I don't know

what's going to happen.

Well, the thing is,

you guys have done some really impressive challenges.

You've done really well in the competition to this point.

But, now it's time for the most challenging one of all.

As a matter of fact, you and your dogs are going to be

putting on a show.

A very exciting challenge here.

Now, this performance can be absolutely anything

you want it to be.

It's up to you to come up with something amazing.

So, guys, do you see all of this equipment behind you?

You can use any of this.

This performance can be anything you want it to be.

It can be a magic show, a dance routine.

It can be a series of tricks. It's up to you. The sky is the limit.

Just do your best to make it spectacular.

Whoa, daunting stuff!

And if all that wasn't scary enough,

Zak has drafted in two experts to act as judges.

At Showtime, the teams will have to perform in front of Steve Mann

and Lynn Barber, two of the UK's top dog training experts.

-LYNNE:

-This is a big deal.

This is a top trainer trophy that they're going for.

So, they've got to control themselves,

control the stress and nerves,

and keep the dogs calm and focused.

The relationship is the most important thing,

for any bond between human and animal.

So, in dog training, it's huge.

If they enjoy each other's company and working together,

they'll deliver good results.

At Showtime, Jake and Charlotte

will also be performing in front of a live audience.

No pressure, then.

I suggest we give them some time to digest

the size of the challenge ahead,

while we reveal the results of another hard-fought competition.

Right, listen up, you lot.

It's time to reveal the top ten canine capers of the series. Hit it!

Number 10 goes to a dog impersonating a clockwork toy.

Wind him up, watch him go.

In at number 9, bunny attack!

Number 8, a dog flying an aeroplane - brilliant.

This dog dreamed of getting into the top ten,

and takes the number 7 spot.

Look out.

Hanging in at number 6, a gravity-defying dog.

Number 5 goes to the coolest canine of the series.

Now that is stylish.

Despite her best efforts this dog has slid down

to number 4 in the charts.

And number 3 goes to a dog being brave,

against all the odds. Not.

Our number 2 is awarded to a dog

who gets really angry with the press.

But number 1 was a total surprise.

Look at that!

Brilliant.

Still to come, Zak teaches Nelly a stupendous, series-ending stunt.

And we find out the winner of the

Top Dog Trainer trophy.

In the Dog House garden, the finalists are starting

to think about their performances, and how they might wow the judges.

Probably do the volleyball.

Zak's back, to help them with their ideas,

and offer some vital training tips.

Talk to me about what you're planning on doing for the finale.

Well, I've got about nine tricks in my head,

what I'm going to do, but they may or may not work.

Do you have some type of theme, or something that you're going for

in this performance, to make it really novel and interesting?

Well, I think we're going for

a monstery, Frankenstein kind of look.

Nice, that sounds fantastic.

Spooky! Charlotte's decided to incorporate the catapult

into her performance, but Harry's never tried it before.

I wonder how he'll do.

Let's see if we can get him interested in loading the ball.

Let's take this ball out over here, and see if you can get him

to drop it anywhere near here.

-Harry!

-Try one more time, no big deal.

-Harry, come here. Harry, here!

Harry, come.

Oh, dear, Harry seems to have lost his focus.

You've got to get him dialled into you.

This has been Charlotte's biggest challenge

throughout the competition.

So, see if we can get him to jump on there and fire that baby.

-Get a little more energetic. Let him know.

Wey-hey! Look at it! That was fantastic.

You see, Harry - maybe this catapult thingy can be fun after all.

-Do you feel like you know what to do on the catapult, at least?

You guys are doing a fantastic job.

So, a monster theme for Charlotte and Harry.

But what about Jake and Ice?

Jake and Ice. Tell me what you had in mind for your finale performance.

Olympics, because Ice likes toys,

and so we can do jumps,

the basketball would be the high jump.

OK, so, you're trying to put together

just a whole series of different sports, here,

and you've got the right dog for it, no doubt about that.

Very athletic dog. So, you mentioned the basketball goal?

I'm going to lower the net down, so she can actually place

the ball in, and hopefully she won't miss.

You're going for, like,

-slam dunk style, then?

-Yeah.

That would be really cool.

-Would you mind showing me that?

-OK.

We're going to try with the box, because she can't reach, otherwise.

That's cool.

Ice, fetch! Ice, get it.

Ice, come. Ice, up.

Ice. Ice, fetch.

They've got a long way to go to a slam dunk, man.

Ice, fetch. Oh, the ball.

Now, we know that Ice loves toys.

The challenge Jake has is getting him interested in the right ones.

Once you feel you've got her interested in that, let's go ahead

and encourage her to get up here, and then put the ball into the hoop.

When Zak told us what the finale was,

I felt a bit worried,

because I had no clue what I was going to do,

and it was going to be quite a big challenge.

Having my own choices is quite difficult,

because you don't really know what you're going to do.

Good boy!

I haven't done anything else like this with Harry before,

so this is, like, the biggest thing that I've done with my dog so far.

Well done.

Today, I'm going to show you how to teach your dog

to jump over your back. Come on in, Nelly!

All right, nice work.

Now, Nelly loves to play with the ball.

This is what I'm going to use to teach her.

Go get it, Nelly!

Right now, I'm getting her warmed up, and excited with it.

And now, I want to encourage her to bring it back - come on, closer!

She's running away because she wants me to throw it,

but I'm going to encourage her to come and jump over my body, now.

Remember, she absolutely loves it.

In fact, I'm going to give her an extra reward,

because she's doing so well.

The finalists have returned to the Dog House, where,

in just two weeks' time, they'll be performing in front

of a live audience and a panel of expert judges.

Charlotte and Harry's

"monster" themed performance is coming along.

Charlotte, what happened? Why did the cabinet fall?

Looks like you've done some modification, over here.

Why don't you give me an idea of exactly what it is

you're trying to do?

What we're going to do is we're going to

have the pig inside the cabinet,

Harry's going to pull the door off, and put it over here,

then he's going to take the pig,

put it in the catapult, launch the catapult,

and then he's going to collect the pig.

Sounds like an unbelievably creative performance.

Sounds like cruelty to toy pigs -

but I admire Charlotte's ambition.

-All right, is that good?

-Yeah.

-Show me.

-Harry? Pull!

-Good boy!

-Unbelievable!

Wow! Well done, Harry.

Looks like this performance is already coming together.

So, let's have him pick up the pig, and try -

I never thought I'd say this sentence before -

and put it in the catapult launcher.

Get him excited! Into play mode. Come on, show me something!

You've just got to really excite him,

-and I think you know how to do that.

Over at the other side of the Dog House,

out of sight of Charlotte and Harry,

Jake and Ice are also busy,

working on their "Olympic" themed performance.

Jake! What's going on?

-How are you?

-Good.

I'm looking over here, and I see that you've got

Frisbees in the basketball goal, and you've lowered the goal.

Tell me about that, what's going on?

Well, we're going to use them as a reward,

but as a trick as well,

to put into the basket.

Does she already play Frisbee, right now?

Yes, but I'm not that good at throwing it.

You're not? OK. And that's the thing,

it does take a little bit of work,

but, man, Frisbee is so much fun.

It is my favourite dog sport in the world to teach to a dog.

So, let's go ahead and see if we can get

Ice to catch the Frisbee, here.

I would get in the habit of sending her round. Come on, this way.

Do you want it? Yes. Come on! Good. This way. Good.

And see, I was going to guide her, there.

That gets her running out in the right direction

and it teaches her to look back while she's running back.

So, go ahead and show me that.

-What's this? what's this?

-That's it, that's it. Good.

-Oh!

-And just work on your timing a bit.

Show it to me again. Let's try and get a catch.

-What's this? What's this?

-That's it, yeah!

Wow, nice catch, Ice!

And Jake's throw looked pretty good to me.

-Boom! So, you feel like you know what to do here, right?

-Yeah.

You guys are going to do really well.

So, that's it - the teams have had all the help they're going to get.

From here on in they're on their own

and both are starting to wonder about their competition.

I don't have any idea what Charlotte's going to do.

I see she's going to use the magic box and the tunnel, and stuff

but that's, kind of, it.

'I could see Jake's props so I had a tiny little peek at them

'and I saw what he had.'

So, I think we're going to be, like,

at the same standard with everything.

So, it'll be a tough competition.

Some dogs have truly incredible stories.

I was amazed when I heard this next one and I think you will be too.

How about this for an amazing story?

This cyclist shared some of his packed lunch with a stray dog

and the dog started to follow him.

Little did the stray dog know

that the cyclist was part of a massive cycle race across China.

The little dog ran along with the cyclists for over three weeks,

covering up to 60 kilometres a day and climbing 12 mountains.

He followed them across 1,700 kilometres.

That's the same as running 40 marathons!

The cyclist named him Xiaosa and decided to adopt him.

Xiaosa not only got a new home but also ended up with 40,000 fans

and his own internet dog blog.

TRANSLATOR: We didn't think about keeping him at first.

Now, he's really taken to me and I am taking him home.

Wowzer, Xiaosa! There's a dog that's going places.

Get out of his way.

After THE most intense competition they have ever experienced,

Jake and Ice, and Charlotte and Harry

are just one step away from victory.

With Zak's help they've mastered new tricks,

overcome difficult challenges and fought off stiff competition

to give themselves a chance of winning the Top Dog Trainer trophy.

Yes!

This is their final chance to shine.

And not only will they be performing in front of a live audience

but Zak has asked two of the UK's top dog training experts

to help him judge!

And they look very serious.

I was hoping I would make it all the way through to the final

but I didn't know for sure.

I never thought that Harry and me would make it to the final

because it would just be, like, amazing.

So, who will prove they're worthy of the title Top Dog Trainer?

Even if I don't win it, I'll still be quite happy

because I've got very far through.

I'm feeling really, like, nervous and excited at the same time

because Harry can do absolutely anything.

this is where our two finalists and their dogs

will be competing for the trophy and the title

Now, the performances can be no longer than two minutes

and will be judged by myself and two of the UK's top dog trainers -

Jake chose an Olympic theme for his performance,

hoping to capitalise on Ice's love of toys.

As long as Jake can keep Ice focused

he could be in with a shot at the title.

Jake and Ice are going to do OK,

as long as Ice sticks to the task in hand.

And it's fast and furious, so that's going to be a difficult job for him.

Wow, Jake's obviously been practising his Frisbee -

I want to see that the dog's familiar with the equipment

and they just need to keep things moving and the audience interested.

Well, the catapult launch didn't exactly go to plan

but at least Charlotte's managed to get Harry's attention.

They've not got long left - can they show off any other tricks?

Eugh! It's Franken-Zak. That's what nightmares are made of!

Nice work, Charlotte, really, really good job.

So, that's it.

The teams have done all they can.

Their fate now rests in the hands of the judges.

So, what did you guys think of these guys?

That was a little bit unfortunate but that trick was exceptional.

The routine was non-stop.

They used the whole arena, so they didn't stay stationary in one place.

That's a really good point.

-And the creativity I loved.

-Yeah.

-A lot of imagination went into that.

These guys, here, they got a little distracted.

They got the team back on the road again, so...

Getting them back after they are that distracted is really tough to do.

I think we lost most of the really spectacular tasks in that routine,

-which was a shame.

-Yeah.

Right, guys, so, have we made a decision?

-I think we've made a decision.

-I have as well.

Guys, there were hundreds of trainers and dogs

from all over the United Kingdom

that wanted to be exactly where you two are standing right now.

I should first congratulate you

on making it into the top two once again,

that is an amazing accomplishment!
