battle it out for a place in the grand final.

Today, on Who Let The Dogs Out, record-breaking dogs!

A dog that thinks he's a wind-up toy!

And three semifinalists are battling it out

to reach the grand final.

It is the Who Let The Dogs Out semifinal.

Hundreds of you applied and now we have narrowed it down to just three.

These teams are going to have to remember everything

they've learned if they want to make it to the final.

Let's remind ourselves what Jake and Ice,

Charlotte and Harry and Genevieve and Monte Zoom

have been through on the rocky road to the semifinal.

Genevieve and Monty Zoom

from Hampshire pulled off a shock,

last-minute victory with an incredible knee stall

in the first round. And Monty Zoom showed extreme

self-control to conquer Zak's Temptation Arena for a place

in the semifinal. Genevieve is a skilled and resourceful trainer,

but Monty Zoom does have a tendency to ZOOM off.

They don't call him Monty Zoom for nothing!

If Genevieve can keep his interest,

a place in the final could be theirs.

The best bit of going this far is teaching Monty tricks

and meeting Zak. It's just, like, amazing.

Jake and Ice from Swindon put in weeks of training

to pull off a sensational volleyball display

in the first round.

I hope that I can make it all the way through to the final,

but I don't know what any of the other contestants are like.

And it kind of depends what we are doing, as well.

They achieved quarterfinal success

when Ice showed off her superb goalkeeping skills.

Ice just tearing it up out here today!

Ice loves to play!

And when there are toys around,

Jake can struggle to keep her under control.

It definitely is getting much tougher,

because we are against better people.

Do you think you could do the big dock right now?

Maybe. Shall we have a look?

In the first round, Charlotte and Harry from Cambridge

smashed the competition with a sensational display

of dock diving.

Look at that!

Success or failure will depend on Charlotte's ability

to hold Harry's attention.

I would've never actually imagined that we'd have made it this far

because Harry is just getting better and better every day.

They secured their place in the semifinal

with a faultless flyball demonstration that showed off

Harry's speed and agility.

Charlotte and Harry have a terrific relationship.

But sometimes Charlotte struggles to keep Harry focused.

Come here!

I have faith in him.

And I am really proud of us for getting this far.

Now, to win their place in the top two,

they'll have to master Zak's toughest challenge yet.

Now, it's a little wet today, so we are headed into the barn.

This is fantastic!

Now, today's stunt is difficult,

because it involves pressing a button and putting toys in a box.

And for bonus points, in the right order.

Now, let me explain.

To win this challenge,

the dogs need to start a timer by pressing a button.

And while the clock is ticking, they will need to collect five toys

and place them in a box as fast as they can.

When they're finished, they must press the button to stop the timer.

The two dogs that complete the task in the shortest time will move on

to the Who Let The Dogs Out final.

What a great trick -

teaching your dog how to tidy away their toys!

Oh, nice!

Get her interested in this. See if Ice will pick it up.

Ice, fetch.

-Now, ask her to fetch it.

-Ice, fetch.

-She's like, "What is that?"

Yeah, get her used to it, because this is a really awkward toy.

Try this one over here. They're all a bit different here.

I love how dialled-in she is.

Ask her to bring it to you.

-Ice. Ice!

-Our goal today, and this goes for all of you,

is just to see if our dogs can pick up two stationary,

non-moving objects and bring them over here to the box.

So, encourage her to do this.

from your last challenge. This could give you an advantage.

Now, I'm going to move on to Charlotte and Harry.

Charlotte told us that Harry loves squeaky toys,

so she should have no problem getting him to focus on her.

Mm...looks like Harry is getting distracted,

maybe a different toy will catch his attention.

Try this one.

Squeeze it. Squeeze it. Make it make sound.

Get him interested in that. Yes, exactly.

-Go get it.

-Did it work? That's it! Good. That's it, Charlotte.

This trick, guys, is a thinking dog's challenge.

Your dogs have to be very sharp mentally

and disciplined to pull this off.

Training is a lot of fun,

but sometimes you've just got to mess about and let loose.

Here are some dogs doing just that.

If there is one thing that dogs just love, it's water.

Whether drinking it...

..swimming in it...

..or riding on top of it.

For a dog, water is irresistible.

Some dogs just can't wait to get their paws wet.

Others prefer a piggyback.

There is nothing more relaxing than a day on the water.

But whatever you do,

watch out for surprises.

Still to come, Nelly stands up and demands a new trick.

And there's high drama when the teams battle it out

for a place in the grand final.

Let's see if he gets interested in playing cos right now he doesn't

look very interested.

Maybe you are doing everything right here and it's possible

that Monty Zoom is just bored.

-So, he probably just needs a break now, do you agree with that?

I'm going to go up here to Charlotte and Harry now.

How's training going so far?

Well, he's not really concentrating on any of the toys now.

He's concentrating on what's going on over there.

I'll tell you something, Charlotte, so many people,

when their dog gets distracted, they quit.

But you and I know better, don't we?

Because we know that he is a sharp dog.

But that's cool, he just needs a break right now.

after they've taken a break,

When Zak told us what the trick was, I thought, like, "OK, I'll try it."

And I think Monty will do it. Yeah. Fingers crossed.

I am feeling quite confident about this trick

because we have had some experience in putting it in the basket.

Yes! Good girl! Go get it.

And Ice has started to enjoy squeaky toys.

A little time on the hot dog.

I think that Harry is going to do really well, but it will take

a bit of training to get the right toys in the right order..

Ice, Harry and Monty Zoom all have totally different personalities.

Let's get to know them a bit better with their mutt measurements.

Two-year-old Papillon Monty

is the smallest dog left in the competition,

but he proved his worth

with some giant performances

in the early rounds to secure a spot in the semifinal.

Papillons are fiercely intelligent, so Monty Zoom is well equipped

to tackle the Tidy Timer Challenge.

Ice is a Red Merle Border Collie who proved just how much she loves

to play with fantastic performances

in the volleyball and goalkeeping challenges.

Ice is extremely toy motivated, so the Tidy Timer Challenge

could provide her with the perfect platform for victory.

Finally, we have Harry,

the Labrador Retriever.

Retrieving is the name of the game with Tidy Timer,

so Harry could do well.

He's already proved his physical prowess

with some incredible dock diving and flyball displays.

But to win this challenge, he'll need to use his brains, as well.

Showtime is less than a week away and the teams

have returned to the Dog House to learn the next step

in Zak's Tidy Timer Challenge.

You guys are looking fantastic. Looks like your dogs

are really enjoying themselves over here.

So, why don't you take a break for a second?

Now, Jake, we're going to go over

the other aspect of this trick, which is a bit tricky here.

Remember,

our dogs are going to start the timer...

That's a timer? Looks more like a police light to me.

Now, you can do this in a number ways.

Let's encourage her to touch this with her paw.

A nice, quiet tone is what I would recommend.

What are you going to be rewarding with?

-Treats.

-OK. She wants this toy,

what are you rewarding with food for? Is this the one she likes? Look.

Now where is her attention? It's on you, not on the food.

Let's see if we can get her to press it here.

That's it. Yes, yes. Oh, good! She did it!

Look at that! That's what I'm talking about. You are awesome.

Now, last time we saw Charlotte and Harry, Harry was getting bored.

OK, Charlotte. Let's focus on the timer over here.

I'm going to move it around. Just make sure... Good, good!

Do you see what Charlotte is doing?

This is perfect. See how she's getting eye-to-eye,

very close to her dog?

Now, we want him to start putting pressure on it.

-Harry, touch. Touch.

-You can do this, come on.

Touch.

Well, Harry certainly looks more interested,

but he doesn't seem to understand what Charlotte wants him to do.

-Touch.

-So suspenseful! I'm going to move on to Genevieve and Monty Zoom.

Now, you guys... Wow, Monty Zoom looks really comfortable in here.

-What's up with that?

-He really likes the box. He actually slept in it.

-Did he?

-Yeah.

Hey, Monty Zoom. You're such a happy little boy.

OK, you saw what we were doing over here. I want to see if you've got it

in you to encourage Monty Zoom to hit the timer.

And then I will help you if I need to.

if he touches it with his paw, I want you to let him know,

in very certain terms,

that is exactly what I want you to be thinking about doing.

-Yes!

-Good boy!

-Wow, look at that!

Monty seemed to know exactly what Genevieve wanted HIM to do.

And he did it...first time!

-Good boy!

-He looks really excited.

Genevieve, you are on fire right now!

Where did you come from? Really impressive.

I think my main competition is Genevieve and Monty Zoom,

because they did quite well.

We got Monty to press the buzzer.

Wow, look at that! He did it!

I'm pretty confident that this is going to work.

I'm half confident and half not confident.

Because Harry can do absolutely anything in the finale,

and it will just be random, basically.

All right, guys, here's the thing.

You've got four days to really work on this.

We have a serious competition here.

All of you are looking phenomenal.

If you want your dog to tidy away their toys,

grab a box and follow Zak's five steps to the Tidy Timer challenge.

One - familiarise your dog with the different toys by asking them

to retrieve each one in turn.

Two - encourage your dog to drop the toys anywhere near the box

and reward...generously.

Three - if you have a timer, teach your dog

to start the timer with lots of encouragement

at the slightest touch.

Four - put the two tricks together, so your dog starts the timer

and then begins collecting the toys.

Five - finish by having your dog touch the timer one last time

to end the trick.

Today, I'm going to show you how to teach your dog something really easy.

I mean, think about it, most dogs know how to sit,

some dogs know how to lie down,

but how many dogs you know actually know how to stand?

Well, I know at least one, and she is a rock star.

Come on in here, Nellie! What's up, girl? I am going to start

and warm her up with a nice sit. And you see, she does it already,

just cos she knows we're going into training. OK.

Now I'm going to encourage her to lie down, just to get her warmed up.

And now I am going to try and lure her into a stand with a treat.

Come on, girl, you can do it. Remember, guys... Oh, good.

Up here. Yeah. Stand. That's wonderful.

Notice how I say stand when she does it.

Good, back up. Lie down.

That's a leaf. Good girl.

Now... Come on, up here.

Stand. Almost.

Stand. That's stand.

Very, very good. You are doing wonderful.

Once you feel like they're getting the concept,

start mixing it up a little bit.

Sit. Down. Stand.

Oh, you are so awesome! Very, very good.

And that is how you do it. Stand is so easy.

Teach it to your dog right now. Good job, Nellie.

What I love about dogs is they all have their own individual talents.

But the dogs you are about to see, they are not just talented,

they are record-breaking.

Now, this is Harbor, the Black and Tan Coonhound.

It's a good job Harbor is not vain because he holds

the record for having the biggest ears on any dog in the whole world!

Look at them, they're huge!

31.1 cm, to be exact.

That's as long as your school ruler.

When Harbor was a puppy, he used to trip on his own ears.

How embarrassing!

But his owner says she doesn't even notice his ears anymore.

Yeah, right.

And, talking of ears,

this dog, with the colourful ears, is called Mayonnaise!

Mayonnaise and all her friends here are part of the Super Wan Wan Circus

and they have one thing in common - they love skipping!

They are so good at it

that they hold the world record for the most dogs skipping

on one rope at the same time.

13 dogs! That's not just amazing, that's record-breaking!

Look at them! Look at them go! Yes!

A week's intensive training is over

and it's time for our teams to battle it out for a place

in the grand final.

Only two teams will go through.

And one team will leave the competition today.

I think Harry is in a really excited mood today

because I think he knows what is happening

and he knows I'm really excited and I want him to do it.

So, who's got what it takes to win?

It would mean quite a lot going into the finals,

cos then we've got quite far. So, I do hope we do quite well.

And who will make it through to the final?

If he told me that I got to the final stage, I'd be like,

"Am I?

"Are you being serious here?

"Really?"

I don't know who is going to win. It is a hard trick. I don't know.

Well, it's time to find out.

It is showtime for Jake and Ice, Charlotte and Harry

and Genevieve and Monty Zoom.

And this is where all of the action is taking place.

On their trainers' request, the dogs will need to start the timer,

immediately begin gathering all of the toys as fast as they can

and place them in the box. Now, once all the toys are in the box,

they will need to stop the timer. But here is the twist.

If they can put all the toys in the box in the right order,

Who...Let...The...Dogs...Out,

their time will be halved.

And, guys, the stakes could not be higher,

because the teams with the two fastest times will move on to

the final, where they will be one step closer to grasping this -

the Who Let The Dogs Out Top Dog Trainer trophy.

First up, Charlotte and Harry.

It took a while for Charlotte to get Harry interested

in this challenge, but as training progressed,

she showed some impressive communication skills.

As long as Charlotte can keep Harry focused, she's in with a shot.

Charlotte, whenever you're ready.

Harry. Touch.

And they're off!

If Charlotte is going for bonus points,

she should be asking Harry to pick up the toy that says Who on it.

Oh, yes! No, in.

And he's done it!

Phew!

Now, we're looking for the grey pig that says Let on it.

Good work!

Now, for the pink pig with the word The on it.

Oh, no, that won't help! Come on, Harry, concentrate!

-Yes!

-Well done!

Charlotte's really communicating well with Harry

and those treats seem to be doing the trick.

Harry. Harry, listen. In.

Come on, Harry, as a stop sniffing the grass and pick up that pig!

Now for the hotdog that says Dogs on it.

Harry, in. Harry, what's that? Oh, yes!

They completed the challenge in just one minute and two seconds.

Their time will be halved because Harry got all the toys

in the right order, giving them a final time of 31 seconds.

That's going to be very hard to beat.

Next up, Jake and Ice.

Ice's love of toys has given them a real advantage coming

into this round and Jake has worked really hard at keeping Ice focused.

She did play around a bit with the pigs.

But then we got that back by her pressing the button really quick.

Oh, good! Yes, she did it! Look at that!

But if they're to win a place in the grand final,

Jake and Ice will need work fast and not make any mistakes.

OK, Jake, whenever you're ready, get started.

Ice, come. Ice. Ice.

And they're off!

Ice needs to pick up that yellow bone first

if Jake wants that extra bonus.

Basket. Good girl!

That's the first one safely away.

Ice, Ice!

Now for the grey pig.

No Ice, you can't go for the hot dog yet or you'll lose your bonus!

And now she's taken the yellow bone out!

This is turning into a disaster!

Phew, back in - but this is hard work.

Can Jake get Ice under control? What's Ice playing at?

It looks like Ice has totally forgotten about the challenge.

Jake must get her back on track.

Poor Jake, this is going to cost them vital seconds.

Good skills by Jake, refocusing Ice's attention,

and he gets his reward.

Well, that was exhausting!

An incredibly tough challenge for Jake, but he managed to get

Ice to put all those toys in the container

in one minute, 36 seconds.

Because the toys went in in the right order,

their time is halved, giving them a final time of 48 seconds.

But is it enough to get them through to the final?

Next up Genevieve and Monty Zoom.

Genevieve and Monty Zoom were really impressive in training.

Monty Zoom learned to drop the toys in the container

and he managed to work out the timer on his first attempt.

-Genevieve, whenever you are ready to start.

-Come, Monty. Monty, press.

Look at that - really controlled and very slick.

This will be good!

Monty!

Monty is smaller than the other dogs, so his props are smaller,

so he can pick them up with his little mouth.

Monty, get it.

Solid encouragement from Genevieve.

The first toy is in the container.

Monty's toys are so small

they only have letters on them, not words!

Monty doesn't want that chicken leg, but it has an L on it,

and if he doesn't put it in the box, they won't get their bonus points.

Get it, get it!

Monty, In. In. Good boy.

That's it. That's the L safely away.

Now for the bone with the letter T on it.

Get the bone. Get it.

Get it. Get it. Get it.

Go on, Monty, get it.

Oh, no. Monty doesn't seem to want to pick up that bone.

Remember, if the teams want to halve their overall time,

the toys must go into the container in the right order.

Genevieve is persevering,

but she might have to ditch the bone for now

and go onto another toy.
