because we're about to spend the next 30 minutes
whizzing through a year's worth of CBBC gold!
It's Whoops I Missed 2016!
We've got a lot of this...
All of you are taking part in this cholleng...
We've got a lot of you...
It was awesome!
Remember when this happened?
And there's some of whatever this is...
# So, so, so, so, so... #
In true vlog-mas tradition,
our festive friends are primed and ready
to share their top picks for 2016.
It's vloggers Myles, Tee Cee, Laura and Rhys.
# Rocking around the Christmas tree
# Have a happy holiday
# Everyone dancing merrily in the new old-fashioned... #
It's already been Christmas, though.
Kicking off our reminiscent ramble through 2016,
with his favourite show of the year, it's the one, the only Bear...
Yeah, I meant Myles. I meant Myles.
Some of the biggest events have happened this year.
Like, I went paint-balling for the first-ever time,
and I made the most delicious cheesecake.
But enough about me and how great 2016 has been,
because CBBC has had a great lot to offer as well.
My favourite show of the year being Naomi's Nightmares Of Nature.
Oh, what a... Oh, what a selection, what a pick!
Compliments to the chef!
A toy shark.
-And a vacuum cleaner?
A medical shark...that cleans!
He's cleaning beaches!
He never can, though. Sand everywhere.
When this show shows off some of its scariest of creatures,
it strangely makes me feel quite alive.
I think it's because I'm, like, jumping at all the creepy stuff,
but then I'm just like, "Oh, I'm not there. Oh, that's quite nice."
It's got three hearts, nine brains and can measure eight metres across.
The giant Pacific octopus is a nightmare to behold.
How much does it want to pump blood around its body?
It's like it's running a business! Imagine if you're in the water
and you start hearing that octopus around you.
Is it an octopus or are you about to just burst into a big party?
This is the weirdest creature ever.
-Would you like to pet her?
Imagine if all of these arms were on you, you can't,
you wouldn't be able to get away.
Imagine a small animal.
All right, think about all the small animals that are watching at home!
"Shall we pop to the beach for a swim, my little rat boy?"
"Nah, let's pass today, Mum.
"Also, don't call me rat boy.
"Call me Terry. That's my name, I'm your son."
-Doesn't stand a chance.
-LOUD BOOM IN DISTANCE
In the background there,
is there someone actually playing drums in the next room,
or is that the octopus, or is there a drum party inside the octopus?
-Drum, octopus or background music?
The name of a brand-new quiz show coming soon.
Without a doubt, though, Naomi's Nightmares Of Nature
is the show that gives me the most reactions.
I'll demonstrate just a few of them now.
There we go. My favourite show of the year. Thank you for asking.
I'm excited to see what the New Year brings,
and hopefully the only nightmares will just be, you know,
contained nicely in a 30-minute show presented by Naomi on CBBC.
There's too many, really.
Lovely job, good fellow.
And now, for the final time this year,
may I introduce our fantastically festive 15-second fans?
Take it away, my beauties.
I'm Jessica, and my favourite part of CBBC
was when they launched the new CBBC logo,
and when Lauren and Katie was covered with beans by Sam and Mark.
It was awesome!
-All the shows are the best.
I love Lauren, Katie, Karim and Hacker.
A few of my favourite shows are
Dumping Ground, Marrying Mum And Dad,
Tracy Beaker Returns, Danger Mouse, and...
that's all. Bye!
I like The Next Step, I like Junior Bake Off and I like Operation Ouch!
They're my top three shows,
and I love Hacker, I love CBBC HQ, I like Lauren.
Oh, and I like The Dengineers as well.
I love So Awkward, Horrible Histories is my favourite.
I know all the cast on Horrible Histories
and I love The Next Step, and I know all the songs on Horrible Histories.
I really love CBBC.
It's the really best channel.
Well done! You lot really are the shiny gift in our Christmas cracker.
Now, we've sorted you an epic, action-packed
and totes emosh montage, stuffed full of CBBC's best moments.
Oh, yes, we have!
It's all come down to this moment.
This is so gripping!
Guys, are you ready to see your den?
ALL: Three, two, one...
Our den is so good!
The winner of Junior Bake Off 2016 is...
Never in a million years or a blue moon thought that I'd be the winner.
-I love it!
MUSIC: Ace Of Spades by Motorhead
Go on, have some of that!
The winner is...
You're my girl, Hetty.
My very own girl.
You always have been.
'At last, I'd found her.
'I knew who my mother was.'
Come on, then.
SHE SINGS OPERATICALLY
# Don't let this be our final song...
Now, tap it ten times.
'One, two, three, four...'
-Ooh! Keep going.
Hide, hide, hide! Get down, get down, get down!
# This is dangerous grounds
# There's a monster on the warpath
# Who won't stop till she breaks hearts
# She's called Clem
# My friend Owen, like a damsel in distress
# And he don't even know it yet... #
Have you got what it takes to enter the cuboid?
Cross the cuboid in a straight line before sitting on the chair.
Miss the cuboid and you lose everything.
Can I take this mask off? It's boiling.
# So, so, so, so, so awkward! #
Whoopsters, you've got to admit,
CBBC has hooked us all the way up
with some of the best shows this year,
but I must admit, So Awkward has definitely been
one of my firm faves. Somebody say, ha!
Give me a second to get my...
Words just aren't enough to describe how I feel about this show.
So Awkward got me like...
MUSIC: Lush Life by Zara Larsson
And then there's times when the awkwardness
is just, well, you know...
I mean... I have my own So Awkward face?
Especially when Lily is trying to tell jokes.
I wouldn't bother using that pen,
because what's the difference between a pen and a fish?
You can't tune a pen!
Oh, actually it's piano.
You can't tune a piano!
See what I mean?
"Interrupting cow" who?
Wow! But at least we have our two favourite sensible heads around
to bring everyone back down to earth.
I won't even let my mum kiss me.
I made this especially.
Ollie and Martha have really inspired me this year.
I mean, just look at all the non-verbal signs that I've created.
They've really been useful.
Hey, Tee Cee, how are you?
And then there's our quirky Jas,
who we're always able to rely on for a good laugh.
-It's a weird name for a subject, isn't it?
Yeah, it should stand for "Pointless, Silly, Hello, Ew!"
Or...Total Waste Of Time!
Try using the letters P, S, H, E?
But I suppose you shouldn't take yourself too seriously.
I mean, it's OK if you're not that great at telling jokes, Lils.
At least you can still have fun laughing at them, right?
This is not about fun!
This is about my future happiness,
my self-esteem and my entire sense of wellbeing.
Oops! Lily got me like...
Well done! And more vlogging later on.
Now, I've spent weeks selecting the creme de la creme of CBBC,
especially for you,
so, without further ado, allow me to reveal
my top five CBBC moments of 2016!
At number five, you lovely lot at home pitched in and helped to design
Bl1nk Bot, our brand-new robotic friend at CBBC HQ.
It's time to build a robot.
We've lost the Wi-Fi now.
-I don't know what I'm doing!
-Fix your hair!
Karim! Catch it!
This is so cool!
-Hey, can I charge my phone off you?
Hey, can we keep him?!
I guess so! I can't believe we actually made a robot, Hacks!
In at number four, after an intense competition,
our super-talented Got What It Takes winner Amaria wowed the crowd
as she took the stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend.
# So come on, let it go
# And let it be
# Why don't you be you
# And I'll be me? #
Amaria has triumphed at the Big Weekend.
It was excellent. Everything went to plan.
I just want to do it again.
At number three, a shocking secret was revealed
when Jana and the Wolfblood gang
finally exposed their true wolfy selves to the world.
What's going on?
You want the truth?
Well, here we are.
-Are you aliens?
-THEY TALK OVER EACH OTHER
Keep watching, because I'll reveal our top two CBBC moments
a little later on. Now, put down that selection box, Jack,
because Rhys wants to give you his top pick of 2016.
Is it any wonder what I chose to be my top show of 2016?
It's the greatest, it's fantastic,
it's Danger Mouse, of course!
Who's going to save the world, if not me?
The world's top secret agent - and former boyband fanatic -
is my top show
and, to be honest, I shouldn't really have to explain myself,
No, I'm kidding. That would be a really short vlog.
On a technical note,
the show's animation is so cool and colourful that you can't help but
enjoy it. Take Danger Mouse's super-cool car,
his epic headquarters, the gadgets he uses, London itself!
London, city of shining architectural wonders -
the Gherkin, the Tennis Racket...
Hold up! London gets an Eye, a Gherkin,
but we can't get a tennis racket?! London's so much better drawn.
Yeah, I think we should leave the drawing to the Art Ninja.
The show's theme song is so good that you're already mega-pumped
by the time the show starts.
# Danger Mouse
# Danger Mouse
# Danger Mouse! #
There've also been some truly great villains in Danger Mouse.
Attack of the shoddy clones...
I was happy being the biggest TV star in Transylvania,
but, thanks to you, now I NEED to be the biggest star in the world!
And my personal favourite, the hybrid sea monsters.
We're on holiday, having a nice, relaxing...
fight with a cross between a shark, a flying fish and a crab!
Well done, CBBC.
Not only did you bring Danger Mouse back, but you've made it better.
I thought I told you to go away!
And miss another Danger Mouse vlog?
No chance! I have got to change the locks to my room.
-Ooh, candy cane!
-Hey, hands off, those are mine!
Now, this year has flown by faster than that bus does
when I'm late for my tea.
2016 saw some spectacular events and wonderful achievements,
and Newsround was there to document them all.
2016 was an unforgettable year for many,
especially astronaut Tim Peake, who quite literally began on a high,
becoming the first British person ever to take part in a spacewalk.
And he wasn't the only one making history.
Justin Bieber has made chart history by sitting at number one,
number two and number three in the UK singles charts.
In fact, it was a great start to the year for Bieber,
as he picked up the International Male Solo Artist award at the
star-studded Brit Awards in February.
It was a sparkling affair.
Winner of The Voice 2016 is...
And Kevin Simm was crowned the fifth champion of The Voice UK.
There were new champions in May, too.
Leicester City are Premier League champions.
We've waited 132 years for it,
so, the whole town's come out!
The UK didn't fare so well at the Eurovision Song Contest
later in the month, though, as we finished in 24th place.
It was a good night for the Ukraine, though,
winning the contest for the second time with an emotional performance
by singer Jamala.
And we have the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016!
Thousands of people around the UK have celebrated
the Queen's 90th birthday.
There was a huge picnic on The Mall and a fly-past from the Red Arrows.
All eyes were back on Europe a few days later,
as the continent came together to celebrate all things football
for Euro 2016. Three of the four home nations battled it out,
with Wales stealing the show
to make a shock appearance in the semifinals,
eventually losing out to Portugal, who would later win the cup.
In Kazakhstan, Tim Peake landed safely on Earth.
He was just in time for the result of the EU referendum.
We're absolutely clear now
that there is no way that the Remain side can win.
The UK had officially voted to leave the European Union.
That wasn't the only shock...
I do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain
that steers our country to its next destination.
..as David Cameron announced
he would be resigning as the Prime Minister.
July saw another celebration.
Nasa's Juno spacecraft has successfully gone into orbit
around Jupiter after an epic five-year journey.
It was a make-or-break moment,
but, thankfully, it all went to plan and the spacecraft will continue
learning about Jupiter until February 2018.
We will make Britain a country
that works not for a privileged few, but for every one of us.
Back here on Earth, it was announced that Theresa May would take over
from David Cameron and become the UK's second female Prime Minister.
The summer of sport continued in August
when the Brazilian capital Rio hosted the 30th Olympic Games.
And it was the best-ever Olympics for Team GB
as they surpassed their medal count
of London 2012, finishing in second place
with a total of 67 medals.
The focus remained on Rio in September,
when the Paralympic Games kicked off
with a breathtaking opening ceremony.
It was another successful tournament for the UK,
as Para GB overtook their Olympic counterparts,
finishing second in the table with a whopping 147 medals.
-And as the leaves began to fall in October,
a new champion of The Great British Bake Off was crowned
in the form of Candice.
And on CBBC, Junior Bake Off kicked off,
with Nikki becoming the eventual champion.
In the last few minutes,
it's been confirmed that Donald Trump
is going to be the next President of the USA.
I pledge to every citizen of our land
that I will be President for all Americans.
Straight sets again!
Andy Murray became the first British tennis player to achieve the ranking
of world number one.
And Children in Need surpassed all expectations when the British public
pulled together to raise a record-breaking £46.6 million
for the charity, the largest total ever.
And that, my friends, was the year that was 2016.
My ultimate, favourite CBBC show of 2016
is the show that makes me feel 1 million times brainier
after each episode.
Operation Ouch! Hospital Takeover is science-y,
it's about real life and it has a presenter that just manages
to be everywhere at once.
-Coming up today on...
Oh, wait, they're twins!
Ah, I know exactly what it's like to have clones around.
Just for this vlog, I've got the scriptwriter, the director,
No, this way. Yeah. Yeah, OK, cool.
I'm your stand-in.
-You know, when you want to go get a juice or some food,
-I stand in for you.
Well, erm, I'll go get a drink now. Thanks.
I suppose I'll carry on, then.
One of the things I love most about this show,
and what makes it my pick of 2016,
is how you get to see sides of a hospital
you'd never ever normally see - like the helicopters.
Lots of emergency cases arrive at Alder Hey
and other hospitals by air.
All over the UK, there are helicopter services ready to help.
And unsung hospital heroes like Brian.
Today's hospital hero is postman Brian, who single-handedly sorts,
delivers and collects all the mail in the hospital.
But I think my very favourite part of Operation Ouch!
Hospital Takeover was that it revealed what actually goes on
in hospitals, every hour of every day, even on Christmas Day,
all of the hard work involved from everyone
and the bravery of some of the patients.
Ruby has leukaemia,
a type of cancer, which means she has too many white blood cells.
As well as having lots of hospital visits,
she's also been receiving chemotherapy at home
for nearly a year.
Today, Trish came, the home care lady,
and she did my dressing, as you can see,
-it's been changed.
-I love your video diaries, Ruby,
and go Chris and Xand for showing us all things medically...
if that's a word.
I know it can be tricky sometimes, or drive you around the bend...
..and it can also lift you up.
Yes! A lift!
"Lift"! Get it?
Or even break a bone.
Bones... No, I can think of a joke for that one.
Scriptwriter? Now, after all that thinking,
I'm going to get a glass of water.
Erm, I think she forgot to end the vlog.
What? Come back!
It's all right, I've got your back...bone.
Get it? Get it?
Now, working in telly isn't always as shiny and glamorous as it looks,
you know. Sometimes things can go a little bit off-course.
Here's an exclusive look at our best worst moments.
There's a camera up here.
-I don't know, what are you looking at, Mark?
-Can you not see the camera?
-The camera, right there.
I accidentally walked into...
The winner of that toin-cossing game...
Toin coss! Toin coss!
It's your earpiece, isn't it?
I walked into a teacher with my backpack!
All of you are taking part in this chollenge...
And if you love the CBBC wib... website, which I know you do...
-You'll want to look at this!
It's a shame.
Imagine you walked into a horse! That's not an accident!
OK, Charlie - who's going for your team?
-It's not Charlie.
-My name's Callum.
-Oh! Get us down! Quick, Tony!
There we are, we didn't expect that, did we, cocker?
-I got trapped on the autocue hood,
if anyone's interested in technical terms.
We know what it is - you at home knows what it's as.
You knows what izaz!
-What a mess!
I don't know, you'd never catch me making a mistake like that.
CRASH Whoa! Sorry!
Moving swiftly on.
I can finally reveal our top two CBBC moments of 2016.
Get your party horns at the ready, cos that's how good they are.
At number two,
Blue Peter's Lindsey took on a monumental challenge
for Sport Relief.
She attempted to trek for ten hours over 20 miles across the Irish Sea,
and we think she did an incredible job.
I'm running out of time, but I'm determined to get back on course.
The extra effort is agony.
# Thought that I could get by by myself... #
And the waves are impossible.
# Now I know I just can't take it any more... #
I manage one more mile...
Then I hear the words I'm dreading.
Greg tells me to stop.
Come on, let's get you out. Let's get you out of there.
Are you sure we can't just keep trying?
Mate, the tide simply won't let you get to shore, that's the problem.
This has been the toughest challenge of my life.
And in the end, although I didn't quite make it,
I'm so proud that I never, ever gave up.
And, finally, in at number one,
CBBC HQ visited hospitals all across the UK
and, alongside doctors Chris and Xand,
set up camp at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool
for a fantastic live day of fun beamed straight to your TVs.
Now, you know the drill - you've got to come up with...
-Magnetic resonance imaging scan!
-Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging spectroscopy.
Ooh! P, P!
Uh... Polyneuropathy. Peripheral polyneuropathy
-Q. This is a hard one.
Yeah! They did it!
So, what's your favourite, the liver or the spleen?
I like the live... I prefer the kidneys.
Oh, we're on! Quiet, you!
-Ah, Leah! How are you, lovely!
-Cuddles? Amazing! I'm so lucky!
What is the coolest thing about this hospital?
Why is your dad super, super-cool?
Because I was poorly and daddy gave me a kidney and now I'm much better.
I was lucky enough to be able to donate to my daughter
and, as a dad, you'd do anything for your kids.
-Yeah, that's what I wanted!
In three, two, one...
My, oh, my, what an awesome year!
2017 could not possibly compare.
Or could it?
How's about a sneaky peek of some top CBBC shows
heading your way next year?
We've left Eleanor a very special message on a scroll.
"Who knows what magic could be found
"if you turn your head and look behind?"
Eleanor, how are you?
-I'm Mark and this is Lauren and we're from CBBC's
The Dengineers, and we're here to tell you
-that you're going to be building your very own dream den.
'I've been trying to distract myself all day with work,
'but I just keep thinking about what happened with Alfie,
'and what it means.'
'I don't know how I'm going to talk to James right now...'
but I have to.
CJ's in there.
Can anyone hear me?!
Go on, Dill!
Referee, come on!
Well done, son, well done!
-This is mine!
You really want to risk it after that knock?
Don't mess this up, Johnson.
Nurse Winterson gave me a letter from Ida.
I need to go and find her.
Say goodbye to Gideon from me.
I'll miss you and I'll see you again. I promise.
We're a children's home.
"We are horrified to discover
"a children's care home on our doorstep.
"No obvious signage.
"Deliberately hiding the miscreants within"!
They've got a couple of signatures on their petition.
-There's a petition?
-Well, to be fair, there has been noise,
broken windows, police visits...
-What do they do?
-Oh, loads of stuff.
The second years were making invisibility elixirs last term.
Oh, let's see what they've brewed up.
Millie, what part of "those are mine" don't you understand?
Calm down, I was only trying them on.
Well, go try them back off again. And they don't work with your legs.
Oh, thanks(!) Well, I'm going to go now and I think you're both mean
and undermining and...
Indiana Jones, the greatest archaeologist of all time.
Er, I think you'll find I'M the greatest archaeologist
and explorer of all time, Lauriana Jones!
Yeah? Where's your whip?
Is there a problem?
Guys, I don't know, it's, like, my signature song.
I mean, we're a band now, so we really need to share our songs.
OK, no problem.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
'I think a war is coming.'
And that's all we have time for this year,
but if you've missed any of your favourite CBBC shows over Christmas,
you can catch up on the CBBC iPlayer.
Happy festivities, one and all,
and, whatever you do, don't miss that bus!
