online by Tesco. But all leaving customers | :02:45. | :02:50. | |

Tesco's offer for a steam cleaner and who wouldn't be? At just �19.93 | :02:55. | :02:58. | |
it was a fraction of the usual price. Never heard of the brand | :02:58. | :03:04. | |
before so I just thought maybe it was an introductory offer or bank | :03:05. | :03:09. | |
holiday offer. So I placed an order with Tesco Direct, received an e- | :03:09. | :03:14. | |
mail within a matter of minutes confirming that they had got my | :03:14. | :03:19. | |
order and with an order reference number. This is the e-mail they | :03:19. | :03:22. | |
received and you can see it clearly states that it's an order | :03:22. | :03:26. | |
confirmation. But two days later, Tesco sent them another e-mail, | :03:26. | :03:30. | |
saying there had been a mistake and the order had been cancelled. | :03:30. | :03:35. | |
When they checked the website again, the cleaner was still on there but | :03:35. | :03:42. | |
now for �358, that's 17 times more than previously. Fair? They don't | :03:42. | :03:49. | |
think so. If something's advertised at a certain price, you do expect | :03:49. | :03:54. | |
just to pay that price. Unfortunately, these mistakes seem | :03:54. | :03:59. | |
to keep happening at Tesco Direct. In just ten weeks we know of 28 | :03:59. | :04:02. | |
offers that were cancelled because the low prices on the website were | :04:02. | :04:07. | |
found to be incorrect. In every instance, cancellation took place | :04:07. | :04:12. | |
only after customers had parted with their cash. Or their money was | :04:12. | :04:16. | |
refunded. Does this sound sneaky? Not according to the small print. | :04:16. | :04:21. | |
Despite customers receiving an e- mail entitled: Order confirmation, | :04:21. | :04:25. | |
Tesco terms and conditions state this e-mail is not an order | :04:25. | :04:29. | |
confirmation, or an acceptance of your order. That's nice and clear | :04:29. | :04:32. | |
then! We have discovered these pricing | :04:32. | :04:35. | |
mistakes are happening across the entire range, no matter the size of | :04:35. | :04:40. | |
the price reduction. This children's easel was advertised at | :04:40. | :04:47. | |
�7.50, down from �30. And this game usually �9.89 was on sale for �3. | :04:47. | :04:53. | |
Barry bought them along with seven other toys for �32.75. The prices | :04:53. | :04:57. | |
were really good and I thought these are a bargain and we will get | :04:57. | :04:59. | |
these and put them away for birthdays. We had confirmation e- | :05:00. | :05:02. | |
mails for all of them and they said they would be ready for collection | :05:02. | :05:08. | |
the following day after 4.00pm our local Tesco store. So, Barry had an | :05:08. | :05:11. | |
e-mail confirmation, a designated collection time and the money had | :05:11. | :05:16. | |
been taken from his account. What could possibly go wrong? Well, | :05:16. | :05:20. | |

Confused? So are we. Apparently, Tesco only enters into | :05:53. | :05:57. | |
a contract with a customer once it confirms the goods have been | :05:57. | :06:01. | |
despatched. So, as long as it cancels the order before the | :06:01. | :06:04. | |
products have been sent out to the customer, then Tesco are within its | :06:04. | :06:09. | |
rights to cancel the transaction. We found out it's doing it time and | :06:09. | :06:15. | |
time again. Is that fair? There is an expectation there that when the | :06:15. | :06:21. | |
purchaser gets an e-mail confirming the order and the delivery time and | :06:21. | :06:25. | |
place, that that is the conclusion of the contract. Then we see they | :06:25. | :06:28. | |
haven't actually purchased anything. If it were a mistake, which I | :06:28. | :06:33. | |
suspect the retailer will say it is, then they have a duty to remedy | :06:33. | :06:39. | |
that mistake as quickly as possible. But, if it is a mistake it's one | :06:39. | :06:49. | |

wrongfully cause losses. In Kelly's case those losses amounted to the | :17:31. | :17:35. | |
cost of cleaning the rooms. She was given 14 days to pay or face legal | :17:35. | :17:37. | |
action. I was shocked when I read the | :17:37. | :17:42. | |
letter. I burst into tears. We were aware there was smoke alarms in the | :17:42. | :17:44. | |
rooms. There were signs up everywhere saying you could get a | :17:44. | :17:48. | |
fine if you did smoke in the rooms and we have grew up with the | :17:48. | :17:52. | |
smoking ban in place so we know it is illegal. | :17:52. | :17:56. | |
