Christmas time is very busy at Lowick School.

Everyone has some Christmas cards and don't they look happy!

The whole school is gathered in the playground.

They're waiting for a big surprise.

The reindeer are staying at Pandra's farm

and Fiona, who looks after them,

has brought them to meet the children.

Here's Hamish. The little one is called Blue.

-The baby reindeer is almost as big as Pandra!

What's the fluffy stuff on their antlers?

That's a good question. The stuff on their antlers is called velvet.

While the antlers are growing, this fluffy stuff protects the bone

which is growing underneath because

these aren't actually called horns, reindeer have antlers.

These are going to fall off. They'll grow again next year.

-That happens every single year.

-Reindeers are special.

And what's a special time of year for them?

-ALL:

It's a special reindeer food called lichen.

Mitchell has made pipe cleaner arms for his skier.

Mrs Fieldhouse has gathered everyone together to see

what they can remember about their first term at school.
