MUSIC: An English Country Garden

0:00:030:00:06

Today we're in the county of Kent, also known as the Garden of England.

0:00:070:00:12

But it's not just known for flowers - oh, no.

0:00:120:00:16

Kentish cob nuts are from this county,

0:00:160:00:18

and the big question today is

0:00:180:00:21

are our teams going to go NUTS when doing the shopping?

0:00:210:00:25

Let's find out. Let's go Bargain Hunting, yeah.

0:00:250:00:29

Oh, hello.

0:00:550:00:56

We're at the Detling International Antiques And Collectors Fair today,

0:00:560:01:02

here at the Kent County Showground,

0:01:020:01:05

where there are literally hundreds of stalls for our teams to pick over.

0:01:050:01:09

Why don't we take a quick squint as to what's coming up?

0:01:090:01:13

Drive safely.

0:01:130:01:14

On today's show, LURVE is in the air for the Reds.

0:01:180:01:21

Just saw a ring I liked,

0:01:210:01:23

-but it's...

-An engagement ring.

0:01:230:01:25

-Oh, my God! This could this be the first Bargain Hunt proposal?

-No.

0:01:250:01:30

The Blues hit a rocky patch.

0:01:320:01:34

Hang on a sec! I was vetoed on that!

0:01:340:01:37

-We can still go back.

-He's just hurt my feelings. It's fine.

0:01:370:01:40

And down at the auction it's all about the money...

0:01:410:01:44

-£20!

-Double up, straight up.

-He's got £20 for it.

0:01:440:01:47

..and dreaming big.

0:01:480:01:49

Hopefully this time in five minutes, we'll be millionaires.

0:01:490:01:52

So, to meet today's teams of...

0:01:530:01:57

lovebirds.

0:01:570:01:58

Because for the Reds we have Will and Emma,

0:01:580:02:02

-and for the Blues we have Amber and Grant. Hello, everyone.

-G'day.

0:02:020:02:06

Ah... Now, Ems. Your accent tells me that you're not from these parts.

0:02:060:02:10

I'm not, I'm from Sydney, Australia.

0:02:100:02:12

Perfect. So what dragged you

0:02:120:02:15

-to dreamy London? That one did.

-A boy.

0:02:150:02:17

I came over, it was about three or four months I was meant to go home,

0:02:170:02:22

had my ticket booked, Mum and Dad were ready for me and I met Will.

0:02:220:02:26

I had to go back.

0:02:260:02:27

We did long-distance for about nine months, and then he came

0:02:270:02:31

-and got me and brought me back.

-Yeah.

0:02:310:02:33

Apart from being in love and over here in London,

0:02:330:02:35

what do you do for a job of work, Em?

0:02:350:02:37

I'm a nanny for a gorgeous little girl called Marnie.

0:02:370:02:40

-How lovely. How old's she?

-She's 2½.

0:02:400:02:43

And what sort of ambitions have you got?

0:02:430:02:45

Er, I'd like to get into writing.

0:02:450:02:47

I write a lot of children's books just in my spare time -

0:02:470:02:50

I love writing magic, fairies,

0:02:500:02:52

dragons, those kind of things

0:02:520:02:54

cos I think that's exciting for their imaginations at that age.

0:02:540:02:57

-And yours too.

-And mine too, yeah.

0:02:570:03:00

-Now, Will, you're an actor.

-Yeah.

-Have you always been an actor?

0:03:000:03:03

Yeah, since I've was young actually, I've always been interested in it,

0:03:030:03:06

but now kind of gone into more media work as it were,

0:03:060:03:09

so mostly commercials at the moment.

0:03:090:03:11

-That's good work, though, if you can get it.

-Yeah.

0:03:110:03:13

But you collect things connected with the theatre, too.

0:03:130:03:16

Yeah, theatre programmes.

0:03:160:03:18

I've always collected them as well since I was a young child.

0:03:180:03:22

But I've got some dating back to, like, 1950s,

0:03:220:03:25

that kind of thing, I've got a whole bookcase full of them at home.

0:03:250:03:28

Not at my house, at my parents' house cos people take the mick -

0:03:280:03:31

but I have got them somewhere.

0:03:310:03:33

So you're not going to be buying any of that stuff on Bargain Hunt today?

0:03:330:03:36

Oh... No. It's not worth any money, I don't think.

0:03:360:03:40

Anyway, I wish you good luck

0:03:400:03:41

and all the rest of it. Well, this is lovely, isn't it?

0:03:410:03:45

Now, Amber... I said two sets of lovebirds. Tell us YOUR love story.

0:03:450:03:48

He was about 15, weren't you, and I was 17.

0:03:480:03:50

And he came up to me and he said, "Do you fancy going out on a date?"

0:03:500:03:53

I said, "Listen, no. You're two years younger than me."

0:03:530:03:56

-And then finally, I went out on a date with him.

-Finally gave in.

0:03:560:03:59

So we went out to a health food shop - got so nervous.

0:03:590:04:02

And as I put my fork down, it just whacked straight up,

0:04:020:04:05

propelled right in and stabbed him right in the hand.

0:04:050:04:08

-No!

-Honestly, I was mortified.

0:04:080:04:10

-That's terrible.

-I left my mark.

0:04:100:04:12

Fantastic. Now, what do you do as a job of work?

0:04:120:04:15

-I'm a carer.

-Are you?

-Yeah. It's brilliant.

0:04:150:04:17

They're more like friends than people that I care for,

0:04:170:04:20

-so it's really nice.

-And do you do this in a home

0:04:200:04:23

-or do you go from house to house?

-House to house.

0:04:230:04:25

All different people are forced to put up with me

0:04:250:04:28

for a couple of hours a day.

0:04:280:04:29

They see me coming, they try and lock that door but, no -

0:04:290:04:32

-I'm knocking on the door, "Let me in!"

-Don't you give me that!

0:04:320:04:36

Now, Grant, what do you do for a job?

0:04:360:04:38

-I'm a police officer.

-Are you?

0:04:380:04:39

Mm. A roads policing officer,

0:04:390:04:41

so I cover the motorways, that sort of thing.

0:04:410:04:43

Been doing it for about 12 years now.

0:04:430:04:45

Now, outside work you like to go to some pretty exotic places, don't you?

0:04:450:04:49

Yeah, I was born in South Africa,

0:04:490:04:51

and we then lived in Australia for five years.

0:04:510:04:54

Ended up over here

0:04:540:04:55

probably about 30 years ago now. Don't know how that happened, quite.

0:04:550:04:59

Bit of a raw deal there, but... otherwise I wouldn't have met Amber.

0:04:590:05:02

Well, that's true.

0:05:020:05:04

-Do you remember the Australian days much?

-Oh, yes, I loved it.

0:05:040:05:07

If I could, I'd go back over there.

0:05:070:05:08

I feel it a bosom swelling with pride!

0:05:080:05:11

So, how are you two going to get on with this Bargain Hunting?

0:05:110:05:13

We're going to spend little, aren't we?

0:05:130:05:15

We're going to really barter those traders down.

0:05:150:05:17

You're carers, you'll be far too nice.

0:05:170:05:20

Oh, it's a competition. There's no love.

0:05:200:05:23

-She wants that prize.

-I want that golden gavel!

0:05:230:05:25

Fighting talk! Anyway, £300 apiece. There's your £300.

0:05:270:05:30

You know the rules.

0:05:300:05:31

Your experts await and off you go, and very, very, very good luck!

0:05:310:05:35

So, let's meet the experts heading up our teams today.

0:05:370:05:40

Getting ready for the Reds we have Christina Trevanion.

0:05:420:05:46

Hoping for a smooth ride for the Blues, it's Kate Bateman.

0:05:460:05:51

What's the plan, what's the plan?

0:05:510:05:53

I think the plan is to get some quirky maybe old kitchen appliances,

0:05:530:05:57

nice glass bowls or artwork.

0:05:570:05:59

Stuff that people want in their houses.

0:05:590:06:02

I'm thinking maybe children's toys,

0:06:020:06:04

that's what I'd like to try and go for.

0:06:040:06:06

OK. Amber?

0:06:060:06:08

I love 1940s things.

0:06:080:06:09

I love really quirky original stuff that people look at and go,

0:06:090:06:13

"Oh, my God, that's amazing."

0:06:130:06:14

Old sports equipment and also music records,

0:06:140:06:17

that kind of vintage kind of thing I want to go for.

0:06:170:06:20

I might have to write this down!

0:06:200:06:23

-Spend cheap.

-Buy low, sell high.

0:06:230:06:26

That's right.

0:06:260:06:27

OK, you lucky teams, your 60 minutes starts now.

0:06:270:06:34

-Well, let's go.

-Let's go.

0:06:340:06:36

-Let's go Bargain Hunting.

-Yay!

-Come on.

0:06:360:06:39

Sounds like our teams know what they want today.

0:06:390:06:42

That's like stepping into Narnia. I just want to go in.

0:06:420:06:46

Don't go disappearing on us, though, Reds.

0:06:460:06:48

There's some lovely stuff.

0:06:480:06:50

There's a lot of tat as well.

0:06:500:06:51

You've got to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.

0:06:510:06:54

Absolutely.

0:06:540:06:55

Watch out, little fella, the Blues are coming to get you!

0:06:550:06:59

With seconds down, Christina has spotted something for the Reds.

0:07:000:07:04

-See this steamer chair?

-A sun lounger?

0:07:040:07:06

Exactly, yeah. They're traditionally on steamer ships.

0:07:060:07:10

I think we have a bit of a woodworm issue there,

0:07:100:07:12

-can you see all these little holes?

-It needs a little bit of work done.

0:07:120:07:15

Exactly, but it's just a really great shape. Shall we see how much?

0:07:150:07:19

I know that furniture wasn't on that incredibly long list you gave me.

0:07:190:07:22

-No, but if it's at the right price.

-Shall we ask?

0:07:220:07:26

-Yeah, let's do it.

-Could you come and chat to us about this chair?

0:07:260:07:30

Yes.

0:07:300:07:32

What's on it? Very best price?

0:07:320:07:34

-25 quid.

-Oh! Is it sound?

0:07:340:07:37

-There's a bit of a woodworm issue, isn't there?

-Yes.

-Is it sound?

0:07:370:07:42

Yeah, I wouldn't sit in it personally!

0:07:420:07:45

Oh, dear.

0:07:450:07:46

Shall I try?

0:07:460:07:48

-I don't know about that.

-If I break it, do we buy it?

0:07:480:07:52

Is it any breakages must be paid for?

0:07:520:07:55

-A very small person.

-There we go!

-That looks cool.

0:07:580:08:03

It's quite comfy, actually.

0:08:030:08:05

-Flat-pack, go to the beach.

-You can fold it, obviously.

0:08:050:08:09

This seat mechanism here is called bergere seating

0:08:090:08:12

and it's just very trendy right now,

0:08:120:08:14

and to have this still in excellent condition is really quite unusual.

0:08:140:08:18

-What's your absolute death on it, darling?

-20 quid?

0:08:180:08:21

-What do you think, guys?

-20 quid, done, bosh. Let's do it.

0:08:210:08:26

That's the quickest deal ever done. Would you take 15?

0:08:260:08:30

-No, not really.

-20, absolute death?

0:08:300:08:33

-Yeah.

-Meet me in the middle at 18?

0:08:330:08:35

-Go on, then, 18 quid.

-You're an angel.

0:08:350:08:37

-Thank you very much.

-Good work, CT.

0:08:370:08:40

A done deal at £18.

0:08:400:08:42

One down, two to go.

0:08:420:08:44

Now, how are the Blues getting on?

0:08:450:08:47

-Excuse me, what is it?

-Four bells.

0:08:490:08:52

Four bells? What's it do?

0:08:520:08:55

They go ding-dong normally!

0:08:550:08:57

What on earth?

0:08:570:08:58

-That is really bizarre.

-It IS bizarre, I really like that.

0:08:580:09:01

What is it?

0:09:010:09:02

Well, I haven't really got a clue what it is,

0:09:020:09:05

but it's got two handles so you could do that.

0:09:050:09:09

Let me help you.

0:09:110:09:13

This is known as a bell terret,

0:09:130:09:15

a decoration for the harness on a working horse.

0:09:150:09:18

It's so weird, no-one is going to want it

0:09:190:09:21

and therefore it's really cheap, is what you're going to say?

0:09:210:09:24

Unfortunately, because it's so unusual, it's really expensive.

0:09:240:09:27

It is not! It's 20 quid.

0:09:270:09:30

It's 80 quid.

0:09:300:09:32

That's 20 quid a bell, you can't have that!

0:09:330:09:37

-50?

-60 quid.

0:09:370:09:38

55, in the middle, how about that?

0:09:380:09:40

Oh, Lord, you're actually thinking about it!

0:09:400:09:42

Oh, it's a funny one at auction.

0:09:420:09:44

I don't even know how you'd even start cataloguing it.

0:09:440:09:47

-If I could get 55.

-I don't know, it's up to you.

0:09:470:09:52

I think it's a good one to keep on the back burner

0:09:520:09:54

because it's weird - and weird is good.

0:09:540:09:56

All right, we'll think about it and maybe come back.

0:09:560:09:58

Remember where it is.

0:09:580:09:59

If it's gone and we haven't got anything else,

0:09:590:10:01

I'm going to have a strop! I'm going to stamp my feet.

0:10:010:10:04

Oh, crikey, we don't want any falling out so early on.

0:10:040:10:07

-Quick, done.

-Loving this decisiveness, that is cool.

0:10:090:10:13

-But we still have a very, very, very big fair to navigate.

-Which way?

0:10:130:10:18

-56 minutes to do it in. Which way?

-That way.

-That way?

0:10:180:10:21

All right, let's go, go, go, go.

0:10:210:10:23

-Well, I'm really desperate for that golden gavel.

-You'll be lucky!

0:10:260:10:29

I'd put it pride of place with spotlights all around it

0:10:290:10:31

and every time someone comes in,

0:10:310:10:33

they worship it and say how fantastic we are.

0:10:330:10:35

-Bow down for the gavel.

-Yes, we're not worthy and all that.

0:10:350:10:38

-That would be brilliant.

-We will try.

0:10:380:10:41

How much? 20 quid?

0:10:420:10:45

And she's red!

0:10:450:10:47

Sweet, but don't get distracted, Reds.

0:10:470:10:50

There's still shopping to be done and the Blues are cracking on.

0:10:500:10:53

OK, here are some signs.

0:10:530:10:55

You mentioned you liked vintage signs.

0:10:550:10:57

What about these over here? There's quite a few.

0:10:570:10:59

-What you think about that one there?

-That's pretty cool. French.

0:10:590:11:03

-St Michel. Legeres is light.

-They're very popular, aren't they?

0:11:030:11:07

They are and they're great visual items.

0:11:070:11:09

That up on a wall, it's like really good pop art.

0:11:090:11:12

Think of the Campbell soup tins, something like Andy Warhol.

0:11:120:11:15

That's the same kind of thing.

0:11:150:11:17

It all depends on price because we're here for a profit.

0:11:170:11:19

What would you pay? Without asking, what do you think it should be?

0:11:190:11:22

I don't know.

0:11:220:11:23

I'd say they're going for around £50 at the moment.

0:11:230:11:27

Where's the stallholder, then?

0:11:270:11:29

What would be your best price on that?

0:11:290:11:31

Taking it that we've both got blue, it's a nice day.

0:11:320:11:36

You want to stand chance of winning, don't you? It's all about the profit.

0:11:360:11:39

-I'm going to half the price for you.

-Go on, then.

-50.

-50, oh, right.

0:11:390:11:44

It's got a bit of damage. I like it, I think it's quite funky.

0:11:440:11:48

-Would you go 40?

-Meet you in the middle, 45.

0:11:480:11:52

35 would be even better.

0:11:520:11:54

Look, they've got families to feed. Come on!

0:11:540:11:56

40. I'm Scottish.

0:11:580:12:02

-It's got to be 40.

-I like it.

0:12:020:12:04

You like it? This would be your item, then.

0:12:040:12:07

I don't think you're going to find many of those any more.

0:12:070:12:09

I quite like it. I think it's got a charm.

0:12:090:12:11

Go on, then, thank you very much.

0:12:110:12:13

You've been a very nice person today, putting up with us.

0:12:130:12:15

It's our first buy! Yay!

0:12:150:12:18

Good work, Blues. 15 minutes gone and one down at £40.

0:12:190:12:24

We've got so much time, but we mustn't get complacent.

0:12:240:12:27

-Let's get back on the sun lounger!

-Ice cream?

0:12:270:12:30

What about these light things?

0:12:300:12:32

Those are amazing. Hang on a second,

0:12:320:12:34

we've got a very shipping theme going on.

0:12:340:12:36

-Should we stick with that?

-These are port and starboard lights.

0:12:360:12:41

-Go on, go and work your magic.

-Where is he?

0:12:410:12:44

He's off!

0:12:440:12:45

Is he good with people?

0:12:450:12:46

He is, he'll try and get a couple of pounds of anything.

0:12:460:12:50

He might need to get a couple of pounds off!

0:12:500:12:53

350, is that your best?

0:12:550:12:58

Whereas I'm the opposite. I'm like, "Oh, can I just have it?"

0:12:580:13:02

So, he's the haggler?

0:13:020:13:04

-He's the haggler, yeah.

-OK.

0:13:040:13:05

-How did you get on, Will?

-It's 350 for the pair together.

0:13:050:13:10

I think probably leave that, it might be a bit much for us.

0:13:100:13:13

Never mind, Reds, there's plenty more out there. Like aeroplane parts.

0:13:150:13:21

It is quite cool and I think, for a man's room,

0:13:210:13:24

you remember you had your man's room before I took it over?

0:13:240:13:27

-Did you have a man cave?

-Yes.

-And was it confiscated?

0:13:270:13:30

I had another baby. "Out!"

0:13:300:13:32

Oh, hold on, we've been here before.

0:13:340:13:36

They are port and starboard.

0:13:370:13:40

They must be for lights, maybe? Unusual.

0:13:400:13:44

Your competition have been looking at those as well.

0:13:440:13:47

That's a bit naughty.

0:13:470:13:48

-What else are they looking for? Give us some clues?

-Nothing else on here.

0:13:480:13:51

Now then, Blues, we want a clean game today.

0:13:510:13:54

Oh, what's this?

0:13:540:13:56

Have you lost the girls, will?

0:13:560:13:57

-Welcome back.

-Hello, team, nice to know where my team are!

0:13:580:14:02

-We're just looking at this.

-We've been shopping.

-Oh, OK.

0:14:020:14:06

-What's your thoughts?

-What would you put in that?

0:14:060:14:09

-Some fruit.

-Salad.

0:14:090:14:10

-Probably not salad.

-I just love the colour.

0:14:100:14:13

I know it's not our colour.

0:14:130:14:15

It's not our colour. It could be a bad omen.

0:14:150:14:18

You hear how it rings?

0:14:180:14:20

That means there's no damage.

0:14:200:14:23

If there was a chip or a crack, it would sound like a dull thud.

0:14:230:14:26

It really doesn't have any kind of antique content to it whatsoever.

0:14:260:14:31

It's 15. But we might be able to get her down on that.

0:14:310:14:35

-What do you think?

-Yeah. I'm just thinking, maybe, I don't know.

0:14:350:14:42

Where has decisive Will gone?

0:14:420:14:44

-He's not decisive.

-Really? That worries me.

0:14:440:14:46

I just don't know if someone would go to the auction house and go,

0:14:460:14:50

"That's what I want." I just don't know if someone would want that.

0:14:500:14:53

It's quite an interiors piece, isn't? It's got a great shape to it.

0:14:530:14:58

It's big without being too big.

0:14:580:15:00

It's 15, so if we get her down to how much?

0:15:000:15:04

-A fiver.

-Yeah, a fiver, here's the cash, out of there.

0:15:040:15:08

-You guys do the dealing.

-Go on, Will.

0:15:080:15:12

-She's the lady there.

-Right. Cheers.

0:15:120:15:15

Work your magic, young Will.

0:15:150:15:17

Hello there.

0:15:170:15:18

I was just wondering about that bowl down there. How much are we talking?

0:15:180:15:22

-15.

-Is that your best offer?

0:15:220:15:25

-Best offer?

-12.

0:15:250:15:28

-Five?

-You're joking!

0:15:280:15:31

-I'm being serious. No?

-No.

0:15:310:15:34

12 - what do you think?

0:15:340:15:36

Haggling from afar, CT.

0:15:380:15:41

-10? OK.

-Deal, perfect.

0:15:410:15:44

He's done it.

0:15:440:15:45

-Have we got a deal?

-£10. We got it.

0:15:450:15:50

Second item, done, well done.

0:15:500:15:52

What's that, cheeky? Cheeky! Cheeky tenner.

0:15:520:15:55

It certainly is cheeky but it worked.

0:15:550:15:59

It's 2-1 to the Reds, and the Blues have hit a dead end.

0:15:590:16:03

Right, we've 25 minutes gone already. It's going fast.

0:16:030:16:05

What's the plan? We're here at the end of the road.

0:16:050:16:08

Are we going back or are we going inside?

0:16:080:16:10

I think we should go back that way.

0:16:100:16:11

We saw some really nice stuff, didn't we, first of all?

0:16:110:16:14

We got a bit, "woo"!

0:16:140:16:16

Have a look and see. I've still got my eye on those bells.

0:16:160:16:19

The bells!

0:16:190:16:20

Hang on a sec, I was vetoed on that.

0:16:200:16:23

We can still go back.

0:16:230:16:25

You just hurt my feelings. It's fine, it's fine.

0:16:250:16:28

Marital strife!

0:16:280:16:30

If you work your magic with him.

0:16:300:16:32

So, it's back for the bells.

0:16:320:16:34

Can Amber strike a deal?

0:16:340:16:36

-Would you take 50 rather than 55?

-No.

-Please?

0:16:370:16:42

Go on, just to get rid of you.

0:16:420:16:43

Oh, thank you so much. Thank you.

0:16:430:16:45

Good work, Blues. The decorative bell terret is all yours.

0:16:450:16:50

-Four useless bells. 50 quid!

-Bargain.

0:16:500:16:55

If it goes wrong, I'll take full responsibility.

0:16:550:16:58

Meanwhile, the Reds are having a team talk.

0:16:580:17:01

-I'm just thinking, this is all quite low value.

-We want big.

0:17:010:17:06

-If you want to spend big...

-We make big profit.

0:17:060:17:09

Then maybe inside would be better for us.

0:17:090:17:12

-We have spent low on two things, haven't we?

-Yeah.

0:17:120:17:16

I think inside is over there so come on.

0:17:160:17:19

-We'll have to be a bit quick about this.

-Let's go.

0:17:190:17:22

Phew, all that running looks exhausting.

0:17:220:17:24

Time for a sit-down and a snack, I think.

0:17:240:17:26

Well, they say that a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

0:17:340:17:38

And I fancy you're going to quite like this Sheffield plated dish.

0:17:380:17:44

What we've got here is a rectangular serving dish

0:17:440:17:48

that was made probably around 1770 to 1790.

0:17:480:17:54

This thing is in well-nigh perfect condition, just a bit grubby.

0:17:560:18:01

The only problem with it is that once upon a time,

0:18:010:18:04

it had an oval finial here in the form of a twig.

0:18:040:18:08

But the top loop of that twig has snapped off, which is a shame.

0:18:080:18:13

But it's not terminal.

0:18:130:18:16

A good silversmith will craft another twig-like loop

0:18:160:18:20

and sweat that on the top and then the thing will be perfect.

0:18:200:18:24

What I adore about it is the fact that the handle is made

0:18:240:18:29

out of turned fruitwood

0:18:290:18:31

and then coloured to make it look like ebony,

0:18:310:18:34

and it has one or two special features

0:18:340:18:37

which are related to its specific purpose.

0:18:370:18:42

Like this little hatch that slides open here.

0:18:420:18:46

That is the opening for a hot water reservoir.

0:18:460:18:49

What you do in 1780 before a party,

0:18:490:18:53

you pour some boiling hot water into that hole, put the slide back over

0:18:530:18:57

and that would have the effect

0:18:570:18:58

of making the base of the dish beautifully warm.

0:18:580:19:01

But what is the substance that you need to put in a rectangular

0:19:010:19:06

serving dish like this, and you need to keep warm

0:19:060:19:10

for a good, long period of time?

0:19:100:19:13

And the answer to that is...

0:19:130:19:15

Ta-da!

0:19:150:19:17

Toasted cheese.

0:19:170:19:19

A little bit of restoration and this thing is done and dusted,

0:19:190:19:23

and it is worth £250 of any collector's money.

0:19:230:19:28

But what would it cost you here, today, in Detling?

0:19:280:19:32

It could be yours for £60.

0:19:320:19:34

That's without the toasted cheese sandwich,

0:19:340:19:37

which costs you an additional £3.20.

0:19:370:19:41

Perfect.

0:19:410:19:42

Back to the shopping. It's 2-2, and the heat is on.

0:19:460:19:50

-I've never run through the woods on a Bargain Hunt before.

-Oh, Lord.

0:19:500:19:53

-We are down to 12 minutes. Less relaxed.

-Yes, it's fine.

0:19:530:19:57

-Plenty of time.

-Yeah.

0:19:570:19:59

I am actually knackered. That's not good.

0:20:010:20:04

I think you need to be a bit fitter for Bargain Hunting.

0:20:040:20:06

Finally inside, the Reds start their search for spending big.

0:20:060:20:11

-So lots of silver and jewellery in here.

-Some engagement rings.

0:20:110:20:15

-I know, I love that ring.

-Have you found something, guys?

0:20:150:20:19

-Oh, I just saw a ring I liked.

-An engagement ring.

-Oh.

0:20:190:20:23

-Oh, my God, this could be the first Bargain Hunt proposal!

-Oh, no.

-No.

0:20:230:20:28

THEY LAUGH

0:20:280:20:29

Steady on, Christina.

0:20:290:20:31

What's on your jade bangle, darling?

0:20:320:20:34

-Jade bangle, Bill?

-Billy the stallholder has gone for a wander.

0:20:340:20:39

-What do you think he's got on that?

-How much on your jade bangle?

0:20:390:20:43

-BILLY:

-For a pretty girl, 25.

0:20:430:20:44

-25, I can't believe it.

-Are they...?

0:20:440:20:46

There's two pretty girls... YOU'RE not pretty, though, are you?

0:20:460:20:50

THEY LAUGH

0:20:500:20:51

So, nice jade bangle here. Usually you find them...

0:20:520:20:55

They are absolutely tiny.

0:20:550:20:57

You should just be able to get them over your knuckle

0:20:570:21:00

and they will sit, obviously, on your wrist.

0:21:000:21:02

And the idea is that you would never take them off.

0:21:020:21:04

I sold one of these in my last auction, which did have

0:21:040:21:07

a little bit of lilac jade in it, which does affect the value.

0:21:070:21:10

I think that is about £160.

0:21:100:21:12

-OK.

-And he said he would give it to us for 25.

-We'll try get it for 20?

0:21:130:21:18

-But it is not spending big.

-Yes. Could we come back?

0:21:180:21:21

But your profit potential in that is good.

0:21:210:21:23

Should we leave it, or should we just go for it?

0:21:230:21:26

-Let's hold out for ten minutes...

-Yeah.

0:21:260:21:27

..and potentially come back for it.

0:21:270:21:29

-OK.

-And just have a quick whizz around.

0:21:290:21:31

OK, ten minutes to find something else,

0:21:310:21:34

but remember to keep focused on the shopping, CT.

0:21:340:21:37

Thank you. Propose, propose, propose.

0:21:370:21:39

-All in good time. Maybe not on Bargain Hunt.

-Yeah, that's true.

0:21:390:21:43

And why not?

0:21:430:21:45

Now, time is ticking, and Amber is on a mission for the Blues.

0:21:450:21:48

-I'm like a terminator, I'm locking onto things.

-Locking onto a bargain.

0:21:480:21:52

-Yes.

-Well, there's all kinds of stuff in here.

0:21:520:21:55

What about that thing with the anchor? It is quite cool.

0:21:550:21:59

There's a potential for profit, I would have said,

0:21:590:22:01

if they're not too much. That's a really nice, quality brooch.

0:22:010:22:05

They're not my taste, but, you know...

0:22:050:22:08

Oh, she's off, she's off.

0:22:080:22:10

-I know this is really weird.

-Skis, no!

-Tenner.

0:22:100:22:14

-Oh, no.

-They're lovely. Do you know what, at Christmas,

0:22:140:22:17

they will look really, really nice.

0:22:170:22:19

A rustic Christmas tree. Shabby chic, vintage.

0:22:190:22:21

You could do them up, look.

0:22:210:22:23

I don't know. No, no, no.

0:22:230:22:25

-STALLHOLDER:

-Why not? What's wrong?

0:22:250:22:28

Skis. We can't... I know it's a tenner, but...

0:22:280:22:30

-STALLHOLDER:

-But what?

0:22:300:22:31

So you can't tell me there's no profit in them for a tenner.

0:22:310:22:35

They'll never sell at auction. I would say absolutely no.

0:22:350:22:38

-Short-sightedness.

-Come on, let's go.

0:22:380:22:40

Oh, crikey, time is slipping away

0:22:420:22:43

and both teams are now feeling the pressure.

0:22:430:22:47

It'll be fine, it will be fine. Look for antiques, look for antiques!

0:22:470:22:50

Oh, my gosh, you've got less than five minutes. This is serious now.

0:22:530:22:56

This way.

0:22:560:22:58

I don't want to do a panic buy,

0:22:580:22:59

I don't want to just pick something that will...

0:22:590:23:01

-that we are going to regret.

-We are right down to the last minute.

-Yeah.

0:23:010:23:05

Right, it's decision time, Reds.

0:23:050:23:08

If you are looking to make a profit,

0:23:080:23:10

you cannot go wrong with that jade bangle.

0:23:100:23:13

Yeah.

0:23:130:23:15

He said 25, but if we can get it to 20 I would be even happier.

0:23:150:23:19

-OK, done.

-Work your magic. Are you not going to haggle?

0:23:190:23:23

-Yes, it is your turn, you've got to do it. Come on.

-All right, I'll try.

0:23:230:23:26

-I'll probably end up paying 40.

-No, that's not a good idea.

0:23:260:23:31

-Go on, Emma, you can do it.

-Johnny.

0:23:310:23:34

-Hi, guys.

-We are back for the bracelet.

0:23:340:23:37

-The bangle.

-Is 25 the best you can do?

-Is 25 the best we can do?

0:23:370:23:42

-I haven't haggled all day.

-I'm sorry.

-22.

-25.

0:23:420:23:47

-JOHNNY:

-If I give you the £2 extra, will you behave?

0:23:470:23:50

You've done it, Emma! With a little help from Johnny.

0:23:500:23:53

-Are we OK at 22?

-22.

-You are a legend.

0:23:530:23:55

-Thank you so much, Johnny. Well done.

-Thank you.

0:23:550:23:58

That's all three items done. But what about the Blues?

0:23:580:24:02

-They are in crisis talks.

-There's always the skis.

0:24:020:24:05

You literally have about two minutes left.

0:24:050:24:07

-To be fair, the worst you can lose is a tenner.

-It is up to you.

0:24:070:24:11

-Just get the skis.

-It is all going to go horribly wrong.

0:24:110:24:14

You might make a fiver, which is still a profit,

0:24:140:24:16

and a profit - it doesn't matter even if it is £1 - is a profit.

0:24:160:24:19

Ip, dip, sky blue, who's it? Not you. Let's go get the brooch.

0:24:190:24:21

-No.

-No?

-Get the skis.

-OK, get the skis, all right, then.

0:24:210:24:24

-That's it, we are done. Well done. Well done.

-Well done.

0:24:240:24:27

-Right, let's go.

-Let's go.

0:24:270:24:30

Would you do it for eight?

0:24:300:24:32

-HE LAUGHS

-Seriously, we've got 20 seconds left.

0:24:320:24:35

-If they...

-A fiver.

-Yay!

0:24:350:24:38

Oh, thank you.

0:24:380:24:40

HORN BLARES

0:24:400:24:41

-Time's up.

-With literally about a second to go.

-That was close.

0:24:410:24:46

Let's check out what the Red team bought, eh? Oh, yes.

0:24:460:24:50

It was full steam ahead for the Reds with this folding steaming chair

0:24:520:24:55

for £18.

0:24:550:24:57

They went all glassy-eyed over the 20th-century decorative bowl for £10.

0:24:590:25:04

And they took a gamble on the bangle made of jade for £22.

0:25:060:25:11

-That was great, wasn't it?

-Yes, it was great fun.

-Lots of fun.

0:25:120:25:15

-Now, you didn't spend much.

-No, we didn't.

-How much?

-50 quid.

0:25:150:25:19

Is that all? This cannot happen.

0:25:190:25:21

-I tried to get them to spend.

-I bet you did.

0:25:210:25:23

OK, £250 of leftover lolly, please.

0:25:230:25:26

I don't think I've had so much of leftover lolly.

0:25:260:25:30

Now, which is your favourite piece?

0:25:300:25:32

-The bangle, I reckon.

-And what about you, Em?

0:25:320:25:34

My favourite piece was the bowl.

0:25:340:25:36

-The bowl.

-But I don't think it is

0:25:360:25:38

going to make the most money. I think the chair that we bought.

0:25:380:25:41

OK, we watched her lips there, didn't we?

0:25:410:25:43

We've got that on tape, that's OK.

0:25:430:25:44

-And the biggest profit one, Will?

-Also the bangle, I reckon.

0:25:440:25:48

The bangle. You are really obsessed with that bangle.

0:25:480:25:50

-I'm obsessed. I want to take it home, Tim.

-It is lovely, isn't it?

0:25:500:25:53

It's nice to have an obsession. And talking about obsessions, here we go.

0:25:530:25:57

-Thank you very much. How are you, CT?

-Yes, well. I'm a bit...

0:25:570:26:01

You're a bit flushed. Lovely, isn't it?

0:26:010:26:03

I hope you're going to go and blow the lot.

0:26:030:26:05

Don't worry about buying something they like, never mind about that.

0:26:050:26:08

It is what you like and what will

0:26:080:26:09

-make a profit.

-You know what I'm going to go for.

0:26:090:26:11

I haven't got the faintest idea. THEY LAUGH

0:26:110:26:14

It's got to be sparkly, hasn't it? With this amount of money.

0:26:140:26:16

Of course it does. They don't call you the Jewellery Queen for nothing.

0:26:160:26:19

Thank you very much, thank you very much.

0:26:190:26:21

But right now, why don't we check out what the Blue team bought, eh?

0:26:210:26:25

The Blues lit up at the Legeres cigarette advertising sign for £40.

0:26:250:26:30

The box of bells chimed in at £50.

0:26:330:26:36

And they're hoping for a smooth glide to victory with the skis,

0:26:380:26:42

just £5 paid. Emma, how did it go for you?

0:26:420:26:46

Yes, it was really good.

0:26:460:26:47

Got down to the very second, and that was a bit hairy.

0:26:470:26:49

That was so taut, wasn't it? But you like to live on the edge,

0:26:490:26:52

-clearly, as a team.

-That was cutting it pretty fine.

0:26:520:26:55

We couldn't have got much finer than that.

0:26:550:26:57

That was quite scary at the end, wasn't it?

0:26:570:26:59

-The blood pressure went "poof".

-And you spent practically nothing.

-£95.

0:26:590:27:03

So I would like £205 of leftover lolly, please.

0:27:030:27:06

-There you go.

-Oh, look at that, what a wodge.

0:27:060:27:09

-I need to ask you, which is your favourite piece?

-It was the bells.

0:27:090:27:12

As soon as I saw them, I really liked them.

0:27:120:27:13

-He didn't really like them, but I did.

-Which is your favourite item?

0:27:130:27:16

-I would have to go for the bells as well.

-Would you? Even though

0:27:160:27:19

-you don't like them.

-I didn't like

0:27:190:27:21

them to start with, but looking at them, they are so unique.

0:27:210:27:23

Is this what happens normally when

0:27:230:27:25

your wife persuades you what's what about what?

0:27:250:27:27

-Generally.

-OK, generally.

0:27:270:27:29

That's the secret to a successful relationship!

0:27:290:27:31

So that's favourite-favourite.

0:27:310:27:32

Which thing is going to bring the biggest profit?

0:27:320:27:35

Probably the skis.

0:27:350:27:37

-Yes, the skis, I think. Even if we get

-£5... Look at her face.

0:27:370:27:42

We can only lose £5 is the positive thing in this.

0:27:420:27:45

-You are probably right.

-Off you go with £205.

0:27:450:27:49

-Spend it wisely.

-Well, good luck with that.

-Thank you much.

0:27:490:27:52

Meanwhile, we are going to get our skates on

0:27:520:27:55

and take a fairly long journey round

0:27:550:27:57

the M25 to West London, to the auction rooms in Chiswick.

0:27:570:28:01

Well, we've trotted in from Kent to High Road Auctions, Chiswick,

0:28:090:28:14

in glorious West London, to be with our auctioneer today, Charles Hoy.

0:28:140:28:19

-Hello, Charles.

-Hello, Tim.

0:28:190:28:21

For the jolly old Reds, their first item is the steaming chair.

0:28:210:28:26

-Is that an exciting object or not?

-It is a useful object, Tim.

0:28:260:28:31

People in Chiswick want a chair on their patio.

0:28:310:28:34

It is a nice chair, and it could do around £20-£40.

0:28:340:28:37

Property in West London is worth a lot of money,

0:28:370:28:40

so if it folds up, that's a good idea. They paid £18.

0:28:400:28:44

-It could do better, couldn't it?

-It could do, yes.

0:28:440:28:46

It might just take off.

0:28:460:28:47

Next is the blue moulded bowl. How do you rate that?

0:28:470:28:51

It is a good decorative item.

0:28:510:28:53

People will like it, but it is moulded from cast,

0:28:530:28:57

-and we've gone £30-£50 on it.

-Have you really?

-We have, yes.

0:28:570:29:01

Well, that's brilliant. They only paid £10.

0:29:010:29:03

-They will be delighted if you get £30-£50.

-They might do OK.

0:29:030:29:08

Now, lastly is the jade bangle.

0:29:080:29:11

And I always marvel at these lumps of stone that get hacked out

0:29:110:29:14

and polished up and made into that shape.

0:29:140:29:17

It is not as if that was made in a mould.

0:29:170:29:19

-I mean, it is quite a good thing, isn't it?

-It is not too bad, yes.

0:29:190:29:22

Lots of people do buy them. We do see them quite a lot.

0:29:220:29:27

We've gone £30-£50 on it. And it should do about that.

0:29:270:29:31

OK, £22 was paid, which I think is,

0:29:310:29:34

retail, in a fair, a terribly small price

0:29:340:29:38

to pay for a polished jade object, I have to say.

0:29:380:29:41

Personally, I'm quite optimistic for these guys, but I could be wrong.

0:29:410:29:46

And if I'm wrong, they may need their bonus buy.

0:29:460:29:49

So let's have a look at it.

0:29:490:29:50

-Well, team, this is fun, isn't it?

-Yes.

0:29:520:29:54

You only spent the 15 miserable pounds! I can't bear it.

0:29:540:29:57

OK. You gave £250.

0:29:570:29:58

What did you spend it on?

0:29:580:30:00

Well, admittedly, I may have got slightly carried away

0:30:000:30:04

because I just loved the young lovers.

0:30:040:30:08

-Fresh love, young love.

-OK.

-Are you ready?

0:30:080:30:11

-Ah!

-Ah!

0:30:110:30:13

THEY LAUGH

0:30:130:30:14

So it is a three-stoned diamond ring set in gold.

0:30:140:30:16

It is what we call gypsy-set. So it is inset into the band.

0:30:160:30:20

-And I spent £100 on it.

-It is gold.

-Yes.

-And it is diamonds.

0:30:200:30:23

Gold, diamonds, yes. Three diamonds

0:30:230:30:25

in a nice little row there. Very sweet.

0:30:250:30:27

-Very, very sweet.

-It is sweet.

0:30:270:30:29

And it has got some good diamond weight to it as well.

0:30:290:30:31

-So do you think it will do well?

-I would hope so.

0:30:310:30:33

I mean, if that came into my auction house, I would put it easily at 100

0:30:330:30:37

-to 200. Easily.

-OK.

0:30:370:30:39

-May take a punt on it.

-Do you like it?

-Yes.

-I do like it, I do like it.

0:30:390:30:43

Well, it would be different if it was maybe silver or

0:30:430:30:46

if it was plated, but the thing is, it's got that material value to it.

0:30:460:30:50

Have a little think. But right now, for the audience at home,

0:30:500:30:53

let's find out what our auctioneer thinks about Christina's little ring.

0:30:530:30:57

Now, Charles, look at that.

0:30:580:31:01

Yes, it is rather nice ring, Tim.

0:31:010:31:04

It is in the later part of the 20th-century.

0:31:040:31:06

It is nine-carat gold, though. Yellow gold.

0:31:060:31:08

-It's got three small diamonds in it.

-Chips.

0:31:080:31:12

But it is a nice looking piece,

0:31:120:31:14

-and we've said £40-£60 on it.

-Is that all?

0:31:140:31:17

-It is, yes.

-£40-£60. Oh, Lord.

0:31:170:31:21

Christina is going to be beside herself because she paid £100

0:31:210:31:25

-and really rates it.

-They will need the wind behind them, I think.

0:31:250:31:28

The wind behind it. Oh, will it? Anyway, there we go.

0:31:280:31:31

Next, for the Blues, what about that enamel advertising sign, hey?

0:31:310:31:37

You've got a few chips where the enamel has come off.

0:31:370:31:39

Not in the middle of the thing, vitally.

0:31:390:31:42

But as a piece of poster art, it is a lovely, clear image, isn't it?

0:31:420:31:46

It is, yes. The condition in general is good, actually.

0:31:460:31:48

People like a little bit of vintage wear around it,

0:31:480:31:51

as opposed to looking brand-new.

0:31:510:31:53

Lots of shops, cafes, especially in west London,

0:31:530:31:55

-go after this type of object.

-So what is your estimate?

0:31:550:31:58

-We've said 50 to 70 on it.

-Well, we only paid £40 for it.

0:31:580:32:01

And that has to be inexpensive enough, doesn't it?

0:32:010:32:04

Yes, they should do well.

0:32:040:32:05

Now, the bells, which strictly should be called,

0:32:050:32:10

I guess, a terret, because that's the name of bells

0:32:100:32:14

that are applied to harness or a bit of carriage equipment.

0:32:140:32:18

And I think this is largely there, either for the coachman to

0:32:180:32:24

announce the fact that he's arriving near the coaching inn,

0:32:240:32:28

or the jingly-jangly nature of it bouncing around on the harness

0:32:280:32:31

or carriages, giving early warning anyway.

0:32:310:32:34

Even as decorative items, they are still relatively sought-after.

0:32:340:32:38

-It has a lot behind it, and it could do rather well.

-And the estimate?

0:32:380:32:42

-We've said 50 to 70 on them.

-OK, fine, £50 paid.

0:32:420:32:45

-Now, what about the excitement of the skis?

-Yes, the skis.

0:32:450:32:49

They are quite an unusual pair, actually, Tim.

0:32:490:32:51

We see lots of the mid-20th century Slazenger ones,

0:32:510:32:55

which don't get an awful lot.

0:32:550:32:57

Now, those ones are earlier,

0:32:570:32:59

probably the early part of the 20th century.

0:32:590:33:01

And the vintage ski market, in general, is really

0:33:010:33:04

taking off at the moment.

0:33:040:33:05

Just down the road, you can pay £20,000 for a vintage ski

0:33:050:33:09

-poster...

-Really?

-..or luggage.

0:33:090:33:11

And they are the perfect complement to the vintage ski market.

0:33:110:33:14

And you've a maker's name, in Freiburg,

0:33:140:33:16

so, you know, it's got a bit of provenance to it.

0:33:160:33:19

It is going to be a downhill run for these, or an uphill struggle?

0:33:190:33:22

They might have a jump at the end. They might just do OK.

0:33:220:33:26

-How much?

-We've said 30 to 50.

0:33:260:33:29

Well, that's marvellous, Charles,

0:33:290:33:30

because they only paid £5 for the pair.

0:33:300:33:32

And when you think about it,

0:33:320:33:34

a £5 note, in a fair, for a pair of vintage items like that,

0:33:340:33:38

I think they've done incredibly well, this team.

0:33:380:33:41

And, in fact, so well, they're not going to need their bonus buy,

0:33:410:33:44

but let's go have a look at it anyway.

0:33:440:33:47

£205 went to Kate Bateman. We are standing with bated breath, Bateman.

0:33:470:33:53

-What did you buy?

-Ta-da!

-Oh!

0:33:530:33:56

It is very sweet, it is a little French fruitwood tea caddy.

0:33:560:33:59

-What do you think?

-It is quite cute, isn't it?

-It is small and sweet.

0:33:590:34:03

-But how much was it, though?

-£90. So there is a small profit in there.

0:34:030:34:07

-Yeah.

-It is a gamble.

0:34:070:34:08

It is a gamble, but it is a very sweet thing.

0:34:080:34:11

And it is a proper antique.

0:34:110:34:12

And seeing as you didn't spend a lot, I thought

0:34:120:34:14

I would splash of it. It is a nice shape, it is very tactile.

0:34:140:34:18

For £90, I reckon there's a bit of a profit in that.

0:34:180:34:20

That is really nice, actually. I do like that.

0:34:200:34:22

Would you see that on top of your sideboard, kitchen, I don't know?

0:34:220:34:26

I wouldn't have it on my sideboard.

0:34:260:34:28

I quite like it, I think it's all right.

0:34:280:34:29

Oh, I have the blessing, do I? Good. Well, I hope you will choose it.

0:34:290:34:32

-How much profit do you think, though...?

-Not a lot.

0:34:320:34:36

I would have put it in the sale at 100 to 150, or something like that.

0:34:360:34:38

If it made 150, that's very nice on £90, isn't it?

0:34:380:34:41

-Yes, that would be brilliant.

-Store up that information, pending,

0:34:410:34:44

because right now, for the audience at home,

0:34:440:34:47

let's find out what the auctioneer thinks about Kate's little caddy.

0:34:470:34:51

-Well, that's a weird-looking thing, isn't it?

-It is, isn't it?

0:34:510:34:54

Now, we are used to seeing the fruitwood tea caddies.

0:34:540:34:57

We do often see them in the form of an apple or a pear,

0:34:570:35:00

-slightly earlier...

-And they make thousands?

-They do, yes.

0:35:000:35:03

They can easily go into the thousands.

0:35:030:35:06

And this one is slightly later,

0:35:060:35:07

by the turning on it. We've said the early part of the 19th century.

0:35:070:35:11

We've set £30-£50 on it. Probably being a little bit mean.

0:35:110:35:14

She will be disappointed at your estimate at 30 to 50,

0:35:140:35:17

but you could say, Charles, that that's a bit of a tease, right?

0:35:170:35:19

So, this tea caddy will be next to another one, actually, which is

0:35:190:35:22

also in our sales, so it might well bring in the collectors.

0:35:220:35:25

-Are you taking the sale today?

-I am, yes.

0:35:250:35:28

Very good, we are in safe hands.

0:35:280:35:30

-So, how excited are we?

-Very!

-Very!

-Are we?

-Yes, on it.

-Yes.

0:35:350:35:39

-I have to say, you're looking really excited.

-I am so excited.

0:35:390:35:42

I mean, is it almost the best thing

0:35:420:35:44

that's happened to you since you came over from Australia?

0:35:440:35:47

-Apart from meeting him?

-Without a doubt.

-Maybe even better than that.

0:35:470:35:50

Oh-ho!

0:35:500:35:51

It's your folding steamer.

0:35:510:35:53

A steaming chair we have.

0:35:530:35:55

Good little piece.

0:35:550:35:56

You all need this for your Chiswick patios, I'm sure.

0:35:560:36:00

Start me at £10. £10, surely. £10 at the back. 15 with me.

0:36:000:36:04

Do I see 20? No, pulled out, £15. £20 on the internet.

0:36:040:36:10

20. It's a wrap.

0:36:100:36:11

-And 5 on the internet.

-25!

0:36:110:36:13

-It's a period piece, this!

-Yeah!

0:36:130:36:17

-Selling on the internet, then, at £25.

-I can't believe it.

0:36:170:36:20

That is so cheap, £25.

0:36:200:36:22

But it's still plus £7. I still think it could be worth...

0:36:220:36:26

Well, it doesn't matter any more. That's it. Here comes the blue bowl.

0:36:260:36:29

20th-century decorative glass bowl. Start me at £20.

0:36:290:36:34

-£20 for the bowl. Surely worth that. 20 online.

-£20!

0:36:340:36:38

-Double up, straight up.

-£20!

0:36:380:36:41

25 online now. It's with you online for £25 and selling...

0:36:410:36:46

On the internet at 25...

0:36:460:36:49

-Plus £15. 15 smackers. OK, look out, jade bangle.

-Come on, jade bangle!

0:36:490:36:55

Yeah, don't let us down, jade bangle.

0:36:550:36:57

Next lot, the jade bangle - a lovely little thing it is.

0:36:570:37:01

I have £20 bid straight in.

0:37:010:37:03

25 anywhere? £25 the next bid. It's surely worth a bid.

0:37:030:37:07

-Come on!

-Come on!

0:37:070:37:09

-It's with my commission at £20.

-Come on!

0:37:090:37:12

-It's going...

-Oh, no.

0:37:120:37:14

Have to be quick, internet, if you're coming in.

0:37:140:37:17

25 online. 30 elsewhere?

0:37:170:37:21

Selling on the internet at 25...

0:37:210:37:23

-Which means you're plus 25.

-Yes!

-And you get a profit on everything.

0:37:230:37:27

-Yay!

-That's pretty cool, isn't it?

-Well done.

0:37:270:37:30

That is well done, actually.

0:37:300:37:31

Are you going to go with the Bonus Buy or not?

0:37:310:37:34

Are you going to trust Christina for £100 or walk with 25?

0:37:340:37:38

We said we weren't going to. If we were up, we said we won't.

0:37:380:37:41

Let's stick to our guns.

0:37:410:37:42

-I'm going to go with Will.

-Sometimes Will's so manly, isn't he?

0:37:420:37:45

We're not going with the Bonus Buy,

0:37:450:37:47

but we're going to sell it anyway. Stand by.

0:37:470:37:49

Next lot, 26, is a nine-carat yellow gold three-diamond ring.

0:37:490:37:52

And I do have interest here. I have 50, 55 and 60 bid straight in.

0:37:520:37:58

Do I see 5 anywhere?

0:37:580:37:59

-You haven't gone with it, OK.

-65 at the back.

-It's got a long way to go.

0:37:590:38:04

Give me 70, internet, if you're coming in. It's worth it.

0:38:040:38:06

It's a lovely little ring. 70 online. 75.

0:38:060:38:09

It's with the internet at £70. Let's get 75 quickly.

0:38:090:38:12

It's got a long way to go yet.

0:38:120:38:15

-Five with the internet.

-Do I see 80 elsewhere?

0:38:150:38:18

80, back in with the second internet bidder. It's selling at 80, then...

0:38:180:38:23

Well done!

0:38:240:38:26

Oh, there's another gift.

0:38:260:38:28

Anyway, that's a loss of £20,

0:38:280:38:30

but you didn't go with the Bonus Buy and you are now plus £25.

0:38:300:38:33

-Yes?

-Yay!

-That's cool, isn't it?

-We're happy.

0:38:330:38:36

Well done, congratulations.

0:38:360:38:38

The big thing is, don't look gloating

0:38:380:38:40

and don't smile even at those Blues, right?

0:38:400:38:43

-How is the anticipation, Amber?

-My heart is really going.

0:38:510:38:55

-My tummy tickles.

-Yeah?

-Fingers crossed and toes.

0:38:550:38:59

-Nobody knows what's going to happen.

-I know.

0:38:590:39:02

This is absolutely live action here.

0:39:020:39:05

Hopefully in five minutes we'll be millionaires.

0:39:050:39:08

So first up, and here it comes, the enamel advertising sign.

0:39:080:39:12

Where do we start? I have 50 and 5, 60 straight in.

0:39:120:39:15

Do I see 65 anywhere?

0:39:150:39:16

65 is the next bid.

0:39:160:39:18

65 at the back. Do I see 70 elsewhere?

0:39:180:39:20

At the back, £65.

0:39:200:39:23

And 70 online. 75? No, it's with the internet at 70.

0:39:230:39:28

75 elsewhere? Selling online at £70, then...

0:39:280:39:32

-At 70.

-It's plus £30.

-That's good.

0:39:320:39:36

There's money still in that, but well done, you made a profit.

0:39:360:39:38

That's great. Now the box of bells. Here comes our terrets.

0:39:380:39:41

This is bizarre.

0:39:410:39:43

19th-century terret bells.

0:39:430:39:45

I have £50 straight in. Do I see 5 anywhere?

0:39:450:39:48

£55 the next bid. Surely worth that.

0:39:480:39:51

One for the internet maybe. Come in at £55 for them.

0:39:510:39:53

I have 50 with commissions. Do I see 5 elsewhere?

0:39:530:39:56

-We need another bid.

-It's worth a bid.

-This is no money.

0:39:560:39:59

Do I see 5 elsewhere? It's going. Selling with a commission at 50...

0:39:590:40:02

-Uh-oh. £50. Wiped its face.

-Ohhhh...

0:40:020:40:05

No shame in that, though, seriously.

0:40:050:40:08

But there's money to be made out of those yet.

0:40:080:40:11

-OK, now, the skis for a £5 note.

-A lovely set of skis, these.

0:40:110:40:15

Where do we start?

0:40:150:40:18

Start me at £30, I have straight in. Do I see 5 anywhere?

0:40:180:40:21

£35 the next bid.

0:40:210:40:22

To the room, to the internet, surely worth a bid. 35 elsewhere?

0:40:220:40:25

I have 30 on commission. Do I see 5 anywhere?

0:40:250:40:28

35, and 40 with me. Let's get 5 elsewhere.

0:40:280:40:31

It's going, selling with a commission at 40, then...

0:40:310:40:34

£40, I think he sold it for. Plus 35, which means overall you are plus £65.

0:40:340:40:39

What are you going to do about the tea caddy?

0:40:390:40:43

-I think stick.

-We'll stick. We like twist or stick.

0:40:430:40:46

-You're going to stick, yeah. So no tea caddy?

-No.

0:40:460:40:49

But we're going to sell it anyway, and here comes Kate's tea caddy.

0:40:490:40:53

Move on to lot 48, the 19th-century lovely little tea caddy, this one.

0:40:530:40:58

And we have lots of interest here.

0:40:580:41:00

I have 50 and 60 and 5 and 70 straight in. Do I see 5 anywhere?

0:41:000:41:04

£75 the next bid. To the room or to the internet.

0:41:040:41:07

Surely worth a bid at that. Come in, internet, at £75.

0:41:070:41:10

75, and 80 with me. Come on, internet, it's worth a bid.

0:41:100:41:13

-Look out!

-Might just do it.

0:41:130:41:16

Otherwise it's with us. Do I get 5 elsewhere?

0:41:160:41:19

It's selling, then, to the commissions at £80.

0:41:190:41:22

£80. You made the right decision.

0:41:220:41:25

This is a phenomenal couple, I tell you.

0:41:250:41:29

That is minus £10, but you didn't go with it. Plus £65.

0:41:290:41:34

-You've done it.

-Thank you so much.

-Not at all. It's a real treat.

0:41:340:41:38

Thank you. You're so lovely.

0:41:380:41:40

You have been marvellous, I tell you that. Fantastic stuff.

0:41:400:41:43

Now, the big trick now is don't say a word to those Reds.

0:41:430:41:46

-Everybody happy?

-Yes.

-Yes.

-As you ought to be happy, you lot.

0:41:530:41:57

-Have you been talking about the scores?

-No!

-No!

0:41:570:42:00

Well, I can reveal that we have two teams of winners. How good is that?

0:42:000:42:03

Both teams are going home with folding money in their back pockets.

0:42:030:42:08

-Ah!

-It's just a question of the scale of the winnings today.

0:42:080:42:14

And the team that is marginally behind is...

0:42:140:42:18

the Reds. ALL EXCLAIM

0:42:180:42:20

But don't worry about it.

0:42:200:42:23

-You get your 25 smackers. How about that?

-Thank you.

-Whoo!

0:42:230:42:28

And not only do you get your £25,

0:42:280:42:31

but, because you made a profit on every single item,

0:42:310:42:34

you enter the noble and ancient order of the Golden Gavellers.

0:42:340:42:37

CHEERING

0:42:370:42:39

-So you get one of those. Happy with that?

-We're very happy.

-Yes.

0:42:390:42:42

Well, you've been a lovely, lovely couple

0:42:420:42:44

-and a treat to have on the show. So thank you for joining us.

-Thank you.

0:42:440:42:47

-Thanks a lot.

-But the victors today -

0:42:470:42:49

oh, my goodness gracious me - are taking home £65. How about that?

0:42:490:42:53

WHOOPING

0:42:530:42:54

£65.

0:42:540:42:56

The only thing that let you down was that terret bell set,

0:42:560:43:00

which wiped its face.

0:43:000:43:01

Which is as close as close can be for getting the Golden Gavel,

0:43:010:43:05

but not quite. Anyway, what a great time we've had.
