Today's Bargain Hunt comes from the Royal Highland Centre

0:00:070:00:10

here in Edinburgh, and I've come across this,

0:00:100:00:12

the very first self-help book ever written,

0:00:120:00:16

by Scottish author Samuel Smiles in 1859.

0:00:160:00:19

And he said the key to success in life was perseverance and hard work.

0:00:190:00:24

Perfect advice for our teams today, so let's go Bargain Hunting.

0:00:240:00:28

Here at the fair, there's a lot to choose from.

0:00:580:01:01

The rules are simple - our teams have £300 and one hour

0:01:010:01:05

to find those bargains and hopefully make a profit at auction.

0:01:050:01:09

Let's take a peek at what's coming up.

0:01:090:01:11

The Reds are dreaming of a Beatles reunion.

0:01:130:01:16

He's obviously missing Ringo...

0:01:160:01:18

He was part of a set, probably.

0:01:180:01:21

It's all in the name, for the Blues.

0:01:210:01:22

Here's one with my name on it.

0:01:220:01:24

Now, would you believe it?

0:01:240:01:26

And there's excitement at the auction.

0:01:260:01:29

Unbelievable!

0:01:290:01:31

Cannot...

0:01:310:01:32

20 bid.

0:01:320:01:34

Yeah!

0:01:340:01:35

Well, more of that later. Let's meet our teams.

0:01:370:01:40

We've got two teams of couples today.

0:01:400:01:42

For the Reds, we've got Kelly and Paul,

0:01:420:01:44

and for the Blues, we've got Lindsay and Scott.

0:01:440:01:47

-Hello! ALL:

-Hello.

0:01:470:01:49

Now, Kelly, you guys met when you were studying at Glasgow University.

0:01:490:01:53

Yes, so we actually met during our Masters programme in History.

0:01:530:01:57

And Paul had asked me out a few times,

0:01:570:02:00

I was a bit hesitant but we ended up going for coffee

0:02:000:02:02

and one of the first things he actually mentioned

0:02:020:02:04

was how much he enjoys visiting stately homes.

0:02:040:02:07

And I just thought, "Oh, my gosh,

0:02:070:02:09

"to find someone who has that same historical interest that I do,"

0:02:090:02:12

because I really do love anything about the past,

0:02:120:02:14

I just thought, "I'm never going to find someone else like this again."

0:02:140:02:18

And we ended up chatting for hours and have been together ever since.

0:02:180:02:21

That's just a fabulous story.

0:02:210:02:23

Well, Paul, you're a musician, what instrument do you play?

0:02:230:02:25

Guitar, I'm a guitarist.

0:02:250:02:27

I've played in many bands over the years,

0:02:270:02:29

from rock music to bluegrass to jazz.

0:02:290:02:32

So, all range of things, I've done.

0:02:320:02:34

So the guitarist, has that been a six-string or four-string?

0:02:340:02:38

Six string, I can play a bit of a bass guitar

0:02:380:02:40

but it's mainly guitar that I play.

0:02:400:02:43

-The proper instrument, isn't it, the guitar?

-Yes, exactly.

0:02:430:02:46

-So, Kelly, you have a famous tattoo?

-I do, yes.

0:02:460:02:50

Designed by somebody?

0:02:500:02:51

Yes, so a couple of years ago,

0:02:510:02:53

I actually met Sir Paul McCartney and he, well, I asked him to

0:02:530:02:57

draw me something to remember it by, and he drew a peace sign.

0:02:570:03:01

And then my dad and I, actually he's a huge Beatles fan,

0:03:010:03:04

-we actually went and got matching tattoos.

-No!

-Yes.

0:03:040:03:07

-Is it somewhere where I can see it?

-Yes, it is.

0:03:070:03:09

Wow, look at that. There it is, the peace sign. Did it hurt?

0:03:120:03:15

No, it didn't, actually.

0:03:150:03:17

I was surprised because I think it's supposed to be a painful spot.

0:03:170:03:20

Guys, what are your tactics going to be?

0:03:200:03:22

Well, I think we both have quite a good historical knowledge

0:03:220:03:25

of historical periods, so I think that will definitely help us.

0:03:250:03:28

-Definitely putting a lot of faith in the experts.

-I think so, yes.

0:03:280:03:31

-Really?

-A gamble here and there but we'll place our faith

0:03:310:03:34

in the expert, I think.

0:03:340:03:35

Well, best of luck. Let's meet the Blues.

0:03:350:03:38

-Lindsay and Scott, how are you?

-Very well.

-Good.

0:03:380:03:41

I hear this fair location, the Royal Highland Centre,

0:03:410:03:44

has a very special place in your hearts?

0:03:440:03:46

Yes, indeed. We go to the Royal Highland Show every year.

0:03:460:03:50

It's an agricultural event where everybody gets together.

0:03:500:03:53

We've known each other for 15 years

0:03:530:03:55

and it's only the last two years we've got together,

0:03:550:03:58

-and it was this location we got together.

-Wow!

0:03:580:04:01

-You have a fascinating job, working with animals.

-Yes, yes.

0:04:010:04:04

I'm a behaviourist. I mostly work with horses.

0:04:040:04:08

We look at any behaviours that mostly could be problematic,

0:04:080:04:13

and help horse owners identify where the problems are,

0:04:130:04:16

and help with retraining programmes.

0:04:160:04:19

It's very, very rewarding.

0:04:190:04:20

-Yeah, it's amazing. It's great, yes.

-Magical beasts.

0:04:200:04:23

So, Scott, what do you do?

0:04:230:04:25

Well, I'm a builder and joiner to trade, a local business.

0:04:250:04:29

And you also love doing up classic cars?

0:04:290:04:31

I do indeed. Me and my father have worked classic cars for years.

0:04:310:04:35

I helped him do his classic cars

0:04:350:04:37

and also my own classic cars as well, so thoroughly enjoy it.

0:04:370:04:40

So, you two sound like a practical pair.

0:04:400:04:43

What are your tactics going to be today?

0:04:430:04:45

Well, I work with a charity grant so every penny counts,

0:04:450:04:49

-so we're looking for value out there.

-And what about you, Scott?

0:04:490:04:52

I'm looking for something that's well put together.

0:04:520:04:55

Something I can see that's had a bit of work involved in it put together.

0:04:550:04:58

Well, it sounds like a plan, good luck.

0:04:580:05:00

But before you go, you must have some money.

0:05:000:05:03

-And I think the ladies are in charge today.

-Thank you.

0:05:030:05:06

-Kelly, there you are. Lindsay, there's £300 for you.

-Thank you.

0:05:060:05:09

Off you go, your experts await.

0:05:090:05:10

Are they going to be stuck in the past

0:05:100:05:12

or are they going to be horsing around? I can't wait to see.

0:05:120:05:15

Our competitive couples need a couple of very talented experts.

0:05:170:05:22

Hitting the high note for the Reds, it's Ben Cooper.

0:05:220:05:25

And strumming her way to success for the Blues, it's Kate Bliss.

0:05:270:05:30

Have you got any idea what you'd like to buy then, Paul?

0:05:320:05:34

Because I love history, an item with some personal story behind it.

0:05:340:05:38

Well, maybe something big and practical or I might go for

0:05:380:05:41

something small and pretty, I just... I'm sure.

0:05:410:05:43

Quite love the Victorian and Edwardian era.

0:05:430:05:46

Maybe something a bit nicer looking.

0:05:460:05:47

OK, it looks like we might have the odd battle.

0:05:470:05:49

Also something military.

0:05:500:05:52

Right, teams, time to start shopping.

0:05:530:05:55

Let's head out and see what we can find. Come on, guys.

0:05:550:05:59

It looks like pretty much anything is up for grabs with our teams,

0:05:590:06:03

so let the battle commence.

0:06:030:06:04

My advice is see things which talk to you.

0:06:050:06:09

Anything grab you, Lindsay? What do you think?

0:06:110:06:14

-No, nothing jumps out here.

-Let's move on.

0:06:140:06:17

It's not as easy as it looks.

0:06:190:06:21

There's certainly a lot to choose from here.

0:06:210:06:24

It looks like the Reds have spotted something already.

0:06:240:06:27

And it's somewhere from either the Middle East or Far East.

0:06:270:06:31

-Yeah, it looks kind of...

-And it's been converted into a lamp.

0:06:310:06:34

It was probably a vase or something for incense originally.

0:06:340:06:37

It's a quirky-looking thing.

0:06:370:06:39

-It's got £45 on it.

-Mm-hm.

0:06:390:06:41

I wouldn't honestly know where it would get at auction.

0:06:410:06:45

-No, right, it can kind of go...

-They can go either way.

0:06:450:06:48

Maybe that's one to think about.

0:06:480:06:50

But the Blues are being drawn to a bit of silver.

0:06:500:06:53

-See anything you like?

-Just looking at the nice silver.

-Mm-hm.

0:06:530:06:57

There's a little scent bottle there, perfume bottle.

0:06:570:07:00

Is that your kind of thing, Lindsay?

0:07:000:07:03

I like that kind of thing.

0:07:030:07:05

But with a purpose. They have to do a job and look pretty.

0:07:050:07:09

-Right, so it's got to be practical.

-Yes.

0:07:090:07:11

One thing I say about this is it is a little bit dented.

0:07:110:07:15

-Yeah, which is a shame.

-Lovely, I do like that.

0:07:150:07:18

That damage might detract from the price at auction,

0:07:200:07:23

so time to move on.

0:07:230:07:24

And our history-loving Reds may have found something, well, old.

0:07:240:07:29

Is that like a Celtic...?

0:07:290:07:30

I did Celtic studies so that kind of just caught my eye.

0:07:300:07:33

This is a trivet,

0:07:330:07:34

it was sat by the fire to keep your kettle on and what have you.

0:07:340:07:37

-OK, right.

-It looks... Let's pick it up.

0:07:370:07:40

-It looks like it's made out of copper.

-Uh-huh.

0:07:400:07:43

-We all know that fresh copper is that bright pink colour.

-Yes.

0:07:430:07:47

Some things are designed to be kept really highly-polished.

0:07:470:07:51

Other things actually get much better as they build up

0:07:510:07:54

a patina over time and this has really created

0:07:540:07:57

-a lovely lustre to the surface.

-Yeah!

0:07:570:07:59

You're also when you're looking around here,

0:07:590:08:01

-it's very much in the Arts & Crafts style.

-Right.

0:08:010:08:04

So, I reckon it dates to around about 1900, around about there.

0:08:040:08:08

Right, exactly what I was looking for.

0:08:080:08:10

What do you think would be a good price to get it for?

0:08:100:08:12

Because I know it says 75.

0:08:120:08:14

I would like to see it better than 65.

0:08:140:08:16

Right, OK, so about 60, try?

0:08:160:08:19

If you could... Have a word.

0:08:190:08:21

See how you can do.

0:08:210:08:23

-Obviously, be polite.

-Yes.

-Be friendly to the dealer.

0:08:230:08:26

-Smile's on.

-Of course!

0:08:260:08:28

And just see what he might say he can do on it.

0:08:280:08:30

Hello, hi, yes! Hello!

0:08:300:08:33

-So, we're very interested in this, love the design and everything.

-Yes.

0:08:330:08:37

It's Celtic and great. What would be your best price on this?

0:08:370:08:40

Well, you know, it's quite well-priced as it is and there's

0:08:400:08:42

not a huge room for movement on it.

0:08:420:08:45

But I could do £60.

0:08:450:08:47

-Would you have 60?

-I would be happy with 60.

-60 is good? Yeah?

0:08:470:08:50

-Shake the man's hand.

-OK, yes, that's excellent.

0:08:500:08:53

-Thank you very much.

-Thank you so much.

0:08:530:08:55

Wow, these guys don't hang around.

0:08:550:08:57

Their first item is in the bag with just 12 minutes on the clock.

0:08:570:09:01

And it looks like the Blues

0:09:010:09:03

have found something close to Scott's heart.

0:09:030:09:05

You're a car man, aren't you, Scott? Or a motorbike man.

0:09:050:09:08

-Both.

-Both? You like your classic cars as well, don't you?

0:09:080:09:11

-There's quite a few in there, I see.

-Hmm.

0:09:110:09:13

I can see there's a couple other Dinkies in there and Dinkies

0:09:130:09:16

are selling incredibly well at the moment, actually.

0:09:160:09:19

What you're looking for with Dinky toys is condition and rare models.

0:09:190:09:24

Now, the rare models sometimes need a bit of research

0:09:240:09:26

-but we can tell straightaway about the condition of things.

-OK.

0:09:260:09:29

-The one I'm looking at there is the box.

-Yes.

0:09:290:09:32

Because that's a little bit later, actually. But it has...

0:09:320:09:36

-Original box.

-..its original box.

0:09:360:09:39

So, what have we got on there?

0:09:390:09:41

-Dinky Ford Mercury, Cougar.

-It's American.

0:09:410:09:45

Yeah, boxed and in mint condition.

0:09:450:09:48

What kind of money is on that anyway? Does it say?

0:09:480:09:51

So, we've got £40 on there. Hmm.

0:09:510:09:53

Let's put that one to one side for a minute.

0:09:540:09:57

While the Blues continue to rummage,

0:09:580:10:01

it looks like something else has caught the eye of the Reds.

0:10:010:10:04

This little...that little scale.

0:10:040:10:06

-Those are postal scales.

-OK, right.

0:10:060:10:08

-Ten years ago...

-Mm.

0:10:080:10:10

..you would have seen those on a stand,

0:10:100:10:12

-all polished up and gleaming, for £125.

-Right.

0:10:120:10:15

But they are one of those things which has been affected.

0:10:150:10:18

-Fashions change.

-Not as popular as they were?

-No.

0:10:180:10:22

They're asking £42.

0:10:220:10:24

-I mean, they're a fair price but they're nothing...

-Maybe not, yes.

0:10:240:10:28

It's a no to the scales but back to the toy stall.

0:10:290:10:32

The Blues have found a rustic gem.

0:10:320:10:34

Is that a Corgi...toy?

0:10:360:10:39

Made in Great Britain, Land Rover.

0:10:390:10:41

So, Corgi rather than Dinky.

0:10:410:10:44

Is the value still there with Corgi?

0:10:440:10:46

It is, it's a little bit later than the Dinky ones.

0:10:460:10:50

That's quite nice, how much is that? £10?

0:10:500:10:52

We can make them an offer, see what they could do.

0:10:520:10:54

-I mean, if the right collector is there at auction.

-Yes.

0:10:540:10:57

-They'd buy that?

-We might do well.

0:10:570:10:58

What can you do on that one for us?

0:11:000:11:02

What would be your rock-bottom?

0:11:040:11:05

£8, it's marked up already at 10.

0:11:050:11:08

What were you thinking?

0:11:090:11:10

Erm, think about £5, what do you think?

0:11:100:11:13

Well, if you get it for £5, that would be good.

0:11:130:11:17

Erm, £5 is the general feeling. How is that with you?

0:11:170:11:21

-Could you do it just for us?

-Yeah.

-You're a star.

0:11:210:11:25

Thank you very much indeed.

0:11:250:11:27

Brilliant, first purchase, guys.

0:11:270:11:29

This team really are Bargain Hunters.

0:11:290:11:31

That's their first item for just a fiver.

0:11:310:11:34

17 minutes in and both teams are doing really well.

0:11:340:11:38

Meanwhile, the Reds have uncovered a legend of the pop world.

0:11:380:11:42

-Can you recognise him?

-Is that...?

-Oh, look at that!

0:11:430:11:46

I think it looks like a Beatle, probably Paul McCartney.

0:11:460:11:49

-It does, doesn't it?

-Should we have a look?

-Yeah!

-Let's have a look.

0:11:490:11:52

-I'm trying to work out what that actually says.

-15... Oh, yes.

-£55.

0:11:530:11:59

And it's Kelsboro Ware.

0:11:590:12:01

Hmm.

0:12:010:12:03

-Now, he's designed to hang on the wall.

-OK.

0:12:030:12:05

He's obviously missing Ringo, George...

0:12:050:12:08

He's part of a set, probably.

0:12:080:12:10

He would have been part of the full set.

0:12:100:12:12

-You wanted something which is historical.

-Yeah!

0:12:120:12:14

Now this isn't exactly ancient history, this is modern history.

0:12:140:12:17

-It matches my tattoo, so...

-Indeed.

0:12:170:12:20

Oh, I'd forgotten all about your tattoo for a minute.

0:12:200:12:23

Yes, a little personal connection! You're a musician.

0:12:230:12:25

Where did my brain go?

0:12:250:12:27

-I think...

-I think we should speak to the dealer.

0:12:270:12:29

Speak to the dealer and see what they can do on it, OK?

0:12:290:12:32

Right.

0:12:320:12:33

While the Reds try to work it out with the dealer,

0:12:330:12:36

let's see what the Blues are up to.

0:12:360:12:38

-I love that, actually.

-I do, I was looking at that myself, it's lovely.

0:12:390:12:43

That's sweet. Breathe in a bit for me, I think.

0:12:430:12:46

I can see you in that, Kate.

0:12:470:12:49

Oh, and I think I'd look good in that.

0:12:490:12:51

But how are the Reds getting on?

0:12:530:12:55

Is it time to twist and shout?

0:12:550:12:57

See what I did there?

0:12:570:12:58

I'm just wondering what your best price would be for this item.

0:12:580:13:02

-40 quid.

-40!

0:13:020:13:04

I think that's a really fair deal.

0:13:040:13:07

I think you'd be very cruel to actually try and...

0:13:070:13:10

Yeah, we're not going to push it.

0:13:100:13:11

-I might collapse.

-Thank you very much.

0:13:110:13:14

That's great.

0:13:140:13:15

That could have been a hard day's night,

0:13:150:13:17

but they got a great buy there.

0:13:170:13:19

25 minutes in and the Reds are storming ahead

0:13:190:13:22

with their second item of the day.

0:13:220:13:25

I've got to admit, I am really pleased with them

0:13:250:13:27

at the moment because they've been decisive.

0:13:270:13:30

They found something Scottish, that trivet is just lovely.

0:13:300:13:33

And then, they wanted something historical.

0:13:330:13:35

But we've tied it in also with Kelly's tattoo.

0:13:350:13:38

I mean, who'd have thought that we'd find a little Paul McCartney?

0:13:380:13:42

And I think, you know, there's some real hope. One shop to go.

0:13:420:13:45

I'm going to head off.

0:13:450:13:47

While the teams continue their shopping,

0:13:480:13:50

it's time to take a break. And I've come across a little toy of my own.

0:13:500:13:54

I have something really rather fabulous to show you.

0:14:020:14:04

It's from the 20th century and it's a very rare toy,

0:14:040:14:07

made by the firm Britain's.

0:14:070:14:09

And Britain's are most famous for their lead soldiers.

0:14:090:14:13

However, in between the Wars,

0:14:130:14:15

the First World War and the Second World War, the demand for

0:14:150:14:18

lead soldiers sort of waned, so they had to develop other toys.

0:14:180:14:22

And they may have been farmyard animals, zoos, gardens,

0:14:220:14:26

but one of the rarest subjects they did was the circus.

0:14:260:14:31

And here I have a boxed flying trapeze from that very own series.

0:14:310:14:38

If I open it up...

0:14:380:14:40

There it is, almost as crisp as the day it was made.

0:14:400:14:44

We've got a flying fairy with a clown and its original umbrella.

0:14:440:14:49

It does work and I will need a little bit of help

0:14:490:14:53

to show you how it works.

0:14:530:14:54

Here's our Rhys, our researcher.

0:14:540:14:57

If you can hold this bit of wire.

0:14:570:15:00

What I'm going to do is, I've got the lead toy here.

0:15:000:15:02

The trapeze, I'm going to open the umbrella.

0:15:030:15:06

That goes in the top of the clown.

0:15:070:15:10

Now, if we just carefully...

0:15:100:15:12

..let this go down onto there.

0:15:140:15:16

As you can see, as all the pulleys work,

0:15:170:15:20

and it goes backwards and forwards,

0:15:200:15:23

the umbrella twists and turns at the same time.

0:15:230:15:26

It's just so charming.

0:15:260:15:28

To have the original wire, the original box

0:15:290:15:33

still survive between those dates, 1936 and 1939,

0:15:330:15:37

this is an absolute treat to see.

0:15:370:15:40

So, what's this worth?

0:15:400:15:42

If you bought one back in 1938,

0:15:420:15:44

it would have cost you around £1.50 in today's money.

0:15:440:15:47

This one recently sold for £500.

0:15:470:15:51

Now, that's a class act.

0:15:510:15:53

Time to get back to the shopping, and with 2-1 to the Reds, both teams

0:16:040:16:07

are scanning the fair and nothing is escaping their eagle eyes.

0:16:070:16:12

The Blues are onto something rather cool.

0:16:120:16:14

-Oh, I like it.

-Do you like?

-Yeah!

0:16:160:16:18

Quite industrial, which is very in at the moment. What do you think?

0:16:180:16:22

We've got the remains of a label there, which I think is Benjamin.

0:16:220:16:26

That bodes well, it's my son's name, so it's got to be good.

0:16:260:16:29

Got to be good!

0:16:290:16:30

I love the industrialness of it, in the colour as well.

0:16:300:16:33

I think it's something quite retro looking,

0:16:330:16:36

it would look great in a modern kitchen.

0:16:360:16:39

So, we've got £30 on there.

0:16:390:16:41

-What would you pay for that?

-£20.

0:16:410:16:44

-Mm-hm.

-Maybe I would say 20.

-£20, aye.

0:16:440:16:47

-Yeah? Well, I think you should go and flutter your eyelids.

-OK.

0:16:470:16:51

-And do your best.

-OK, let's try.

0:16:510:16:54

Hi! We're interested in your lamp here.

0:16:540:16:57

You have 30 on it.

0:16:580:17:00

Would you take 20 for it?

0:17:000:17:03

I don't take 20 but I can do 25.

0:17:030:17:06

What do you think?

0:17:060:17:07

I can see that doing really well.

0:17:070:17:10

Enamel ware is in at the moment.

0:17:100:17:12

It's a great colour, I love it.

0:17:120:17:14

And I think for 25, I can see that doing well at auction.

0:17:140:17:17

Yeah, I really can.

0:17:170:17:19

-OK then, we'll take it.

-25? Lovely.

0:17:190:17:21

Let's do it, thank you so much for your help. Great!

0:17:210:17:24

Well done, Blues. We're only halfway through the hour

0:17:240:17:27

and they've secured their second item. I love a budget buy.

0:17:270:17:30

They haven't spent much money, £30 for two.

0:17:320:17:35

But the danger here, I think, is when they're doing so well,

0:17:350:17:38

is with the third piece, do I either spend too much depending on

0:17:380:17:41

what it's worth, or to go for something really off-the-wall

0:17:410:17:44

which isn't going to sell very well at auction?

0:17:440:17:46

We've just got to stay on the right track and we could do really well.

0:17:460:17:50

As they head off to find item three,

0:17:520:17:53

the Reds have got Ben onto the subject of jewellery.

0:17:530:17:56

I don't know how to tell the difference between

0:17:580:18:01

-tacky kind of jewellery and...

-It's a hard one.

0:18:010:18:04

With jewellery, there's what's classed as your fine jewellery

0:18:040:18:08

with your precious metals and precious stones

0:18:080:18:10

and semiprecious stones.

0:18:100:18:11

Obviously, you have your gold and your silver and obviously, platinum.

0:18:110:18:15

Now with those, because they're an expensive core metal,

0:18:150:18:20

then normally you'd use an expensive stone to go with.

0:18:200:18:23

While the Reds discuss sparkly things,

0:18:250:18:27

over to the Blues, who have found something rather fishy.

0:18:270:18:30

This is an interesting one. Do you feel that, Lindsay?

0:18:320:18:35

-What strikes you about that?

-Heavy.

-Really heavy.

0:18:350:18:38

-So, you think it looks like it's carved wood.

-Yes.

0:18:380:18:41

Turn it up, you see a bit of a grain going on there,

0:18:410:18:43

feel the weight of it.

0:18:430:18:45

-It's actually made of resin.

-Wow.

0:18:450:18:47

-Not wood at all.

-Oh, yeah?

0:18:470:18:50

But if you look at the bottom, that would fool me.

0:18:500:18:53

-Decorative, most decorative thing.

-It is.

-But not wood.

0:18:530:18:57

OK, let's go down there.

0:18:570:18:59

They don't like it enough to buy it, so now it's back to the Reds,

0:18:590:19:02

who've moved onto boxes.

0:19:020:19:04

I like that box. Chinese stuff does quite well, doesn't it?

0:19:050:19:08

Chinese is very popular at the moment.

0:19:080:19:10

-I mean, it's made originally as a cigarette box.

-Right.

0:19:100:19:13

You've got that kind of lining.

0:19:130:19:15

There's a little story, so it says...

0:19:150:19:17

-"To Stan, from Jim. Hong Kong, 1946."

-Oh!

0:19:190:19:23

Whoever Stan and Jim were, I don't know.

0:19:230:19:25

And personal stuff, does that have an effect on the price?

0:19:250:19:29

It can have an effect when things

0:19:290:19:32

have got sort of engraving on them and names and this.

0:19:320:19:35

What's quite fun is this is obviously a very personal thing.

0:19:350:19:38

Do you like it?

0:19:380:19:39

If it would do well at auction, I would.

0:19:390:19:42

Well, we can certainly ask...

0:19:420:19:44

We can certainly see what the gentleman can do on the price.

0:19:440:19:46

-What can you do on this one, sir?

-How much is on it?

-You've got 75.

0:19:460:19:51

I'll do it for...45.

0:19:510:19:54

-45.

-Now that is a very, very generous discount.

0:19:550:19:58

-It is very generous.

-I wasn't expecting that at all, so...

0:19:580:20:01

-Yeah, that's quite, what do you think?

-What do you think?

0:20:010:20:05

-Yeah, I quite like it.

-I'm putting the ball in your court, guys.

0:20:050:20:08

-I think, you know...

-Yeah.

0:20:080:20:10

The gentleman is being very, very generous.

0:20:100:20:12

I think he is, that's a great offer. Buy it? Yeah, let's buy it.

0:20:120:20:15

-You're going to go for it?

-Yeah, why not?

-Thank you very much, sir.

0:20:150:20:18

-Pleasure.

-Thank you.

0:20:180:20:20

-Well, we're done.

-Let's go for it.

-Three items.

0:20:200:20:22

-I know.

-And we've got time left over.

0:20:220:20:24

Blues can be doing whatever and we can go and have a cuppa.

0:20:240:20:27

The box is in the bag and they have 20 minutes to spare.

0:20:280:20:31

Time for tea and a chinwag.

0:20:310:20:33

The Blues still have to find their final item

0:20:340:20:37

and it looks like Scott has spotted something.

0:20:370:20:39

Has he been here before in another life?

0:20:390:20:41

-Wow!

-This one's got my name on it.

-Now, would you believe it?

0:20:420:20:45

-I don't believe that.

-Somebody knew you were coming, Scott.

-Very nice.

0:20:450:20:49

-The thing about these cases is they tell a story, don't they?

-Yes.

0:20:490:20:52

And you've got lovely labels here from where it's been -

0:20:520:20:56

Algiers, St George.

0:20:560:20:58

Let's have a look inside.

0:20:580:21:00

You've got the leather straps there.

0:21:000:21:03

Can you open it up?

0:21:040:21:06

-No.

-Maybe there should be a key.

0:21:080:21:10

It is a bit shabby, I have to say.

0:21:100:21:13

-It's seen a bit of life, hasn't it?

-That's what I like about it.

0:21:130:21:16

That's what you like about it. And it makes a great coffee table.

0:21:160:21:20

Because that's the kind of thing that the market loves

0:21:200:21:24

as a furnishing piece.

0:21:240:21:25

-Hi, there.

-Hi!

-We've spotted your trunk here.

0:21:250:21:28

How much is it?

0:21:280:21:29

I'm selling on behalf of someone but we're asking 70. Maybe for 50.

0:21:290:21:35

Could you do it anything better than that because it's locked?

0:21:350:21:38

-I've got to ask them. That'll do?

-Yeah, sure.

0:21:390:21:42

-OK, we'll have a think too.

-I'll see...

-Lovely, thank you.

0:21:420:21:45

Now, some people call this shabby,

0:21:470:21:48

and others call it shabby chic, but does this stall have more to offer?

0:21:480:21:53

-What do you think about that one?

-Well...

0:21:530:21:55

And actually, if you're going to use it as a coffee table,

0:21:550:21:58

-this one's probably a better height.

-Yes.

-I agree.

0:21:580:22:00

-So, let's have a look inside as well.

-I really like that.

0:22:000:22:04

I like that too, yes. I do like it.

0:22:040:22:06

-Well, I think we should find out the price.

-OK, let's do that.

0:22:060:22:09

The dealer's here with some prices.

0:22:090:22:12

That's 50 for that one.

0:22:120:22:13

-But it's locked.

-Yes.

-And this one's 70?

0:22:130:22:16

It's had a little bit of repair there.

0:22:160:22:19

I mean, could you do anything about that

0:22:190:22:20

because the condition isn't so great?

0:22:200:22:22

It's just, I was told 70.

0:22:240:22:26

Were you? So, it's 70 or nothing?

0:22:260:22:29

OK, well, there we have it, guys.

0:22:290:22:32

I have to tell you, we've got about three minutes left.

0:22:320:22:35

OK, guys, it's decision time. This is your last call.

0:22:370:22:41

What do you think, Kate?

0:22:410:22:43

-I think that's a bit high for an auction price.

-Yes, I think so too.

0:22:430:22:46

I think if you go for the 50, you take the gamble,

0:22:460:22:49

-you hope there's treasure inside.

-I agree, yes.

0:22:490:22:52

-His name's Scott, it's got to be a good omen.

-50.

-You happy?

0:22:520:22:56

-We're happy.

-Definitely.

-Thank you.

-Thank you very much indeed.

0:22:560:22:59

GONG Time's up, teams.

0:22:590:23:02

-In the nick of time!

-Perfect timing!

0:23:020:23:04

But what a great ending, hey?

0:23:040:23:06

I don't know about you, but I need a sit down!

0:23:060:23:08

Let's remind ourselves what the Reds bought.

0:23:080:23:11

Our history-loving duo snapped up

0:23:110:23:13

the Scottish Arts & Crafts trivet for £60.

0:23:130:23:16

He wants to hold your hand but can he deliver a profit?

0:23:170:23:21

The Paul McCartney ceramic was £40.

0:23:210:23:23

And will the Chinese copper dragon breathe fire at the auction?

0:23:250:23:28

It was £45.

0:23:280:23:31

-So, guys, was that exciting?

-It was, great!

-Fantastic.

0:23:310:23:34

Kelly, may I ask you what's your favourite item?

0:23:340:23:37

I think I really like the Celtic Arts & Crafts trivet.

0:23:370:23:40

-I think that was a really good buy, yes.

-What about you, Paul?

0:23:400:23:42

It had to be the Chinese box for me. Fantastic.

0:23:420:23:45

Paul, what's going to bring the biggest profit?

0:23:450:23:48

-I'm not being biased but I think the box.

-So, the box is your choice?

0:23:480:23:51

-It is my choice, yes.

-Oh, I see that.

0:23:510:23:52

What about you, Kelly?

0:23:520:23:54

I think that Beatles head might do well if there's any Beatles fans

0:23:540:23:57

-out there, you never know.

-Beatles head?

0:23:570:23:59

-Yeah, it's good, I think so.

-How much did you spend, then?

0:23:590:24:01

We spent £145 altogether.

0:24:010:24:04

So, that leaves Ben with 155.

0:24:040:24:06

-Who's got that out of you two?

-I do, there you go.

0:24:060:24:08

Naturally, it would be you, wouldn't it? Woman's in charge.

0:24:080:24:11

So, Ben, here's £155.

0:24:110:24:14

What are you going to spend it on?

0:24:140:24:15

-We did look at some jewellery.

-Yes.

0:24:150:24:17

So, I think I might possibly go down the sparkle route,

0:24:170:24:20

-but then again, I might end up with some rust.

-Sounds good.

0:24:200:24:23

Sounds like a plan, Ben.

0:24:230:24:25

While Ben goes and finds some sparkles,

0:24:250:24:27

let's remind ourselves what the Blues bought.

0:24:270:24:29

Can this 1950s Corgi Land Rover drive the Blues to a profit?

0:24:300:24:34

It cost a mere £5.

0:24:340:24:36

Will the industrial lampshade they bought for £25

0:24:390:24:42

shine bright at the auction?

0:24:420:24:44

Scott found his namesake with this well-travelled featherweight trunk.

0:24:460:24:50

Is it a good omen? It cost £50.

0:24:500:24:53

-Scott and Lindsay, was that fun?

-Yes, great fun.

-Great fun.

-Yeah?

0:24:540:24:58

-Kate, was it fun?

-Clockwork, absolute clockwork.

-Really?

0:24:580:25:03

No, they were fantastic.

0:25:030:25:05

So, Scott, tell me, what's your favourite item?

0:25:050:25:09

First item I chose was the wee Series 1 Land Rover.

0:25:090:25:12

-OK, that's your favourite item.

-That's my favourite item, love it.

0:25:120:25:16

-Lindsay, what's yours?

-1930s-style lampshade.

-Yes.

0:25:160:25:20

Love that, so...

0:25:200:25:22

Good, those are your favourite items so, Scott, let me ask you,

0:25:220:25:24

what's going to bring the biggest profit?

0:25:240:25:26

I know we didn't spend much on it but I think the wee Land Rover will.

0:25:260:25:30

The wee Land Rover? Oh, good. What about you, Lindsay?

0:25:300:25:33

I'm agreeing with Scott, I think that's our winner, that one.

0:25:330:25:36

-The Land Rover.

-Yeah, the Land Rover.

0:25:360:25:38

So, OK, you two, how much did you spend?

0:25:380:25:41

-£80.

-What?

-Only 80, yes!

0:25:410:25:43

80! Kate!

0:25:430:25:44

I tried, I tried. Honestly, believe me.

0:25:440:25:47

-That's £220, who's got that left?

-I've got it here.

-£220.

0:25:470:25:52

-Look at that!

-What are you going to do with that?

0:25:520:25:54

You know what? I'm going to have lots of fun, that's for sure.

0:25:540:25:57

Spend it!

0:25:570:25:59

While Kate goes off and spends £220, we're off to the auction.

0:25:590:26:03

So, it's been a hop, skip and a jump from the fair in Edinburgh

0:26:120:26:15

to here with Anita at Great Western Auctions in Glasgow.

0:26:150:26:19

It's lovely to have you here, Thomas.

0:26:190:26:21

Now, we're going to start with the Reds.

0:26:210:26:23

Paul and Kelly, their first item I adore, it's this lovely trivet.

0:26:230:26:28

Mm-hm. Well, it's Celtic revival.

0:26:280:26:31

And at the end of the 19th, beginning of the 20th century, the

0:26:310:26:35

Celtic revival was big in Scotland and particularly in Glasgow.

0:26:350:26:41

And this is a lovely thing, with that marvellous interlaced motif.

0:26:410:26:47

So, lots of buyers for this. What's your estimate?

0:26:470:26:49

Hopefully, estimate 80 to 120.

0:26:490:26:52

80-120, £60 paid.

0:26:520:26:54

Onto their second item, Sir Paul McCartney.

0:26:540:26:58

-If we had four of them, Thomas...

-The Fab Four.

0:26:580:27:01

-..it would be a different thing.

-Yeah, the Fab Four!

0:27:010:27:04

-And you've just got Sir Paul there.

-We've just got Paul here.

0:27:040:27:08

-What's your estimate?

-Estimate on that, 50 to 100.

0:27:080:27:11

I've made it wide.

0:27:110:27:13

So, they've paid £40. I think that's quite good, good estimate.

0:27:130:27:17

Right, their third and final item is this Chinese copper box

0:27:170:27:22

and it's got an interesting inscription on it.

0:27:220:27:24

What do you make of that?

0:27:240:27:25

I, I love this box and I quite like the inscription.

0:27:250:27:31

"To Stan, from Jim." And it's 1946.

0:27:310:27:36

It makes me wonder who Stan and Jim were

0:27:360:27:41

and what they were doing in Hong Kong in 1946.

0:27:410:27:45

So, it's a positive for me but it might be

0:27:450:27:48

a negative for lots of people.

0:27:480:27:50

It's a positive for you, so therefore, your valuation is...?

0:27:500:27:54

60 to 100.

0:27:540:27:55

60 to 100, well, £45 paid.

0:27:550:27:58

Well, Anita, it's looking immensely positive for this team here.

0:27:580:28:01

They might need their bonus buy, they might not.

0:28:010:28:04

But let's take a look at it anyway.

0:28:040:28:05

-You gave the dear old Ben Cooper £155.

-Yeah!

0:28:070:28:13

Ben, what have you got under that satin silk?

0:28:130:28:16

Well, I went on a mission to try and find some jewellery.

0:28:160:28:20

-Right, yes.

-So, this is what...

0:28:200:28:23

-I found.

-Ooh!

-Oh, that's beautiful.

-Wow!

0:28:230:28:26

-It's very you, isn't it?

-That is, I like it.

0:28:260:28:28

I thought it was going to be kind of you.

0:28:280:28:30

It's made by the designer Charles Horner.

0:28:300:28:33

And when you look on the back, there's the nice clear stamp,

0:28:330:28:37

CH for Charles Horner, and it's hallmarked, to Chester, 1923.

0:28:370:28:42

And it's very late but it is still in the Art Nouveau style.

0:28:420:28:46

-So, how much did you spend?

-What do you reckon?

0:28:460:28:48

I'd say about £100, maybe?

0:28:500:28:52

I paid 30.

0:28:520:28:54

-£30!

-Wow, wow.

0:28:540:28:56

That's a great, good job!

0:28:560:28:57

How much is it going to make at auction, do you think?

0:28:590:29:02

Well, hopefully, he's very much really popular at the moment

0:29:020:29:06

and I'm hoping somewhere in the region of £80, possibly a bit more.

0:29:060:29:11

-Fingers crossed.

-That's great!

-You love it, don't you?

0:29:110:29:14

It's a very nice piece.

0:29:140:29:16

Look, you don't have to make that decision now.

0:29:160:29:18

But for the audience at home, here's what the auctioneer thinks.

0:29:180:29:22

So, Anita, I've got their bonus buy here.

0:29:220:29:25

It's in my pocket, it's coming out, it's a rather nice box.

0:29:250:29:28

-A precious little item.

-It's a precious little item.

0:29:280:29:31

I think it is rather delightful. Now, what do you make of it?

0:29:310:29:33

-Well, it's Charles Horner.

-Yeah.

0:29:330:29:36

And Charles Horner, that wonderful Halifax jeweller,

0:29:360:29:40

is the name in Art Nouveau jewellery.

0:29:400:29:44

People will like this because it has this lovely romantic, Thomas,

0:29:440:29:49

heart-shaped green stone.

0:29:490:29:51

-What's your estimate?

-60 to 100.

-£30 paid!

0:29:510:29:56

-For Charles Horner.

-That's amazing, isn't it?

0:29:560:29:59

Well, look. Right, onto the Blues are now.

0:29:590:30:02

Blues, we've got Lindsay and Scott and their first item

0:30:020:30:06

was something which I see a lot of, these Corgi cars.

0:30:060:30:09

What do you think about the Land Rover?

0:30:090:30:11

When I look at that, Thomas, I can see that it has been played with

0:30:110:30:17

and that little item has made a wee boy very, very happy.

0:30:170:30:23

And there will be some big boys at the sale who will want to be

0:30:230:30:28

taken back to the time when they played with this type of thing.

0:30:280:30:34

-Your estimate?

-I put 20 to 30, just because I loved it.

0:30:340:30:39

And you know, these guys have been mean and paid a fiver.

0:30:390:30:42

That was a good buy for a fiver.

0:30:420:30:44

Right, now moving on to the enamel light fitting,

0:30:440:30:49

what do you think of that?

0:30:490:30:50

Well, it's Benjamin and that's a very good name.

0:30:500:30:53

When you think of interior decoration these days, Thomas,

0:30:530:30:59

lighting is very, very important.

0:30:590:31:03

And today's style is industrial lighting

0:31:030:31:07

and that is exactly what we have here.

0:31:070:31:11

-What's your estimate?

-Estimate on that is 30 to 60.

0:31:110:31:14

Well, they paid 25.

0:31:140:31:17

25, well, for a piece of 20th-century design,

0:31:170:31:22

I think 25 is cheap.

0:31:220:31:24

Their last item is the trunk.

0:31:240:31:26

We can't miss it, we've got to talk about it, there it is.

0:31:260:31:29

This trunk has travelled.

0:31:290:31:31

This trunk has had a life!

0:31:310:31:34

This trunk is not really in very great condition, but...

0:31:340:31:40

One of the things that I do like about it is

0:31:400:31:42

it's a featherweight trunk.

0:31:420:31:45

So, this was a state-of-the-art trunk when it was made.

0:31:450:31:49

So, your estimate?

0:31:490:31:50

I put 50 to 80 and I actually might have been

0:31:500:31:53

a wee bit generous on that.

0:31:530:31:55

£50 paid, I think you've been generous.

0:31:550:31:59

Well, it's a bit touch-and-go with this team,

0:31:590:32:01

they may need their bonus buy, they may not.

0:32:010:32:03

But let's have a look at it.

0:32:030:32:04

Lindsay and Scott,

0:32:050:32:07

you've spent nothing and you left

0:32:070:32:10

our lovely beautiful Kate with £220!

0:32:100:32:15

-Kate, what did you do with that?

-Well, you guys were such fun.

0:32:150:32:19

You bought such a variety of objects.

0:32:190:32:21

So, I've gone for something completely different again.

0:32:210:32:24

-Oh!

-And I have bought you a little hip flask.

0:32:250:32:28

Just the kind of thing, Lindsay, you want in the pocket

0:32:280:32:31

when you're out on the horse.

0:32:310:32:33

Very handy.

0:32:330:32:34

It's faceted glass, they've gone to the trouble of bevelling it,

0:32:340:32:37

faceting it all the way round.

0:32:370:32:39

You've got a little silver-plated rather than silver mount

0:32:390:32:43

to the base, which of course pulls off,

0:32:430:32:46

and you could use it as a little cup, if you wanted to. Very handy.

0:32:460:32:50

-I love it.

-It's beautiful, yes.

-Do you want to have a little handle?

0:32:500:32:53

-Yes.

-I love the scrollwork on it, it's beautiful,

0:32:530:32:56

and you just see with the glass, it's lovely as well.

0:32:560:32:59

OK, how much was it?

0:32:590:33:01

-25!

-Wow!

-Not too bad.

0:33:010:33:04

What do you reckon that would fetch then, at auction?

0:33:040:33:06

I think here in Glasgow, it's got to be worth £50 of anybody's money.

0:33:060:33:10

I would really hope it would do that at least.

0:33:100:33:13

You don't have to make the decision now,

0:33:130:33:16

but for the audience at home, here's what the auctioneer thinks.

0:33:160:33:19

The hip flask, what did you think about that?

0:33:200:33:22

I think it's a very elegant little hip flask.

0:33:220:33:26

If we look at the delicate engraving,

0:33:260:33:30

it has a feminine look about it and I particularly liked

0:33:300:33:33

this faceted glass at the top, so it's a pretty and elegant thing.

0:33:330:33:39

-So, Anita, what's your estimate on this?

-Estimate, 40 to 80.

0:33:390:33:42

-40 to 80, Kate's been marvellous and spend £25.

-Right.

0:33:420:33:47

-So, Anita, are you in charge today?

-I am indeed.

-We're in safe hands.

0:33:470:33:50

Well, I'll do my best, Thomas.

0:33:500:33:51

Anita, you don't have to do your best, you're already at your best.

0:33:510:33:55

£20.

0:33:590:34:01

Paul and Kelly, is this your first, is this your maiden auction?

0:34:010:34:05

For you, it is. I've been to one years ago.

0:34:050:34:08

-Oh, seasonnaire!

-Recent one, yes.

0:34:080:34:10

-Ben, you're in safe hands with Ben here.

-Yes!

0:34:100:34:13

Your first item is your Scottish

0:34:130:34:15

Arts & Crafts Celtic revival trivet.

0:34:150:34:17

It cost £60 and you know what? It's coming up now.

0:34:170:34:20

Start me at £50. 50 bid.

0:34:200:34:23

With you, sir, at 50.

0:34:230:34:25

Any advance on £50 on the trivet?

0:34:250:34:28

Any advance on 50?

0:34:280:34:30

60, 60, 70, 80, 90,

0:34:300:34:35

100, 110. 120.

0:34:350:34:40

-'130.'

-Go on!

0:34:400:34:42

'£130'

0:34:420:34:44

for this Scottish trivet.

0:34:440:34:46

£130.

0:34:460:34:48

With you, sir, at 130.

0:34:480:34:51

Any advance on 130? All done at 130.

0:34:510:34:56

-Oh!

-Wow, I can't believe that!

0:34:570:34:59

That is a profit of £70.

0:34:590:35:02

Now, your next item is the Sir Paul McCartney.

0:35:020:35:06

There he is up there.

0:35:060:35:08

Start me at 50, for Paul McCartney. £50.

0:35:080:35:12

£30, then? £30.

0:35:120:35:14

30 bid, £30.

0:35:140:35:17

We were there. £30.

0:35:170:35:20

40. 50.

0:35:200:35:23

-Now you're in profit.

-'60.'

0:35:230:35:26

It's with you, sir, at £60.

0:35:260:35:29

Any advance? 60, 70.

0:35:290:35:31

£70. Any advance on £70?

0:35:320:35:36

All done at £70, £70.

0:35:360:35:40

-70.

-Wow.

-That's a £30 profit.

0:35:400:35:42

You are at £100 already.

0:35:420:35:45

Now your next item is the copper dragon box.

0:35:450:35:49

Start me at £40. £40, 40 bid.

0:35:490:35:53

40 bid? Any advance on 40?

0:35:530:35:57

50, gentleman at £50.

0:35:570:36:00

Any advance on 50 on the dragon box?

0:36:000:36:04

Any advance on 50?

0:36:040:36:06

60, 60.

0:36:060:36:08

'60 with the gentleman.'

0:36:080:36:10

Any advance on £60, any advance on £60? £60...

0:36:100:36:15

There you are. That's a plus.

0:36:160:36:19

Plus £15.

0:36:190:36:21

That's where you're at now, £115.

0:36:210:36:24

You have got the money in the bank.

0:36:240:36:26

-Yes!

-You have now got to decide on the early Charles Horner.

0:36:260:36:31

That beautiful Art Nouveau brooch. What are you going to do?

0:36:310:36:34

-Are you going to go for it?

-Yes, I think we should.

0:36:340:36:36

-I think we are. We love it.

-It's a lovely thing.

0:36:360:36:40

And you're still going to go home with some money,

0:36:400:36:43

even if it fails completely.

0:36:430:36:44

I can start the bidding at £40.

0:36:450:36:48

-'Oh!'

-Hands everywhere!

0:36:480:36:50

I'm going to come off the book and onto the floor.

0:36:500:36:53

So, 40. 50 with you, sir. 50.

0:36:530:36:57

60, 70, 80.

0:36:570:36:59

-Wow!

-'90.'

-Oh, my gosh!

0:36:590:37:02

100.

0:37:020:37:03

-Get in there!

-'100.'

0:37:030:37:06

£100.

0:37:060:37:08

It's with you, sir, at £100 for the Charles Horner.

0:37:080:37:14

Any... 110 back in.

0:37:140:37:16

It's with you, sir, at 1... 120 back in again.

0:37:160:37:20

-£90 profit.

-'120, hard to let it go.'

0:37:200:37:23

'120.'

0:37:230:37:25

130.

0:37:250:37:27

130. Is it for you, darling?

0:37:290:37:32

Oh! 130, it is a sweetheart brooch.

0:37:320:37:36

£130.

0:37:360:37:38

Any advance on 130?

0:37:380:37:40

All done at 130. 130...

0:37:400:37:43

-That's £100 profit.

-Yes!

-Oh, give him a hug.

0:37:450:37:48

You are at 215 profit.

0:37:480:37:52

Unbelievable!

0:37:520:37:54

-I cannot believe that!

-Well done, wow.

0:37:540:37:57

I cannot believe that.

0:37:570:37:59

Poker face, centre ourselves.

0:37:590:38:01

-Don't tell the Blues and we'll catch up later.

-My lips are sealed.

0:38:010:38:05

So, Lindsay and Scott. I take it this isn't your first auction.

0:38:110:38:15

-No, it is.

-It isn't?

-It is.

-You look quite calm. Are you?

0:38:150:38:19

No, I am nervous and excited all together.

0:38:190:38:22

Your first item, this is the Corgi diecast RAF Land Rover.

0:38:220:38:27

£5 paid and it's coming up now.

0:38:270:38:29

This is an opportunity, guys, to go back to your childhood.

0:38:290:38:34

Lovely little Land Rover.

0:38:340:38:36

20 bid. Any advance on 20?

0:38:360:38:39

30, 40, 50.

0:38:390:38:42

'Any advance on £50?

0:38:420:38:44

'All done at £50.'

0:38:440:38:46

£50!

0:38:460:38:47

-50?

-Yes!

0:38:470:38:49

£50, that's a £45 profit. What is going on?

0:38:490:38:53

Anyway, your next item is the Benjamin light fitting.

0:38:530:38:56

This is a really cool thing.

0:38:560:38:57

Start me at £20, for the Benjamin industrial light shade. £20.

0:38:570:39:03

Start me at 10, then. It's there for sale.

0:39:030:39:07

Lady there?

0:39:070:39:09

10, with the lady at 10.

0:39:090:39:12

12, I'll take.

0:39:120:39:14

15.

0:39:140:39:16

18, sir?

0:39:160:39:18

'18, 20.'

0:39:180:39:20

-Go on!

-Yeah, come on.

0:41:170:41:20

Any advance on £40? £40...

0:41:200:41:23

Yes! £40, that's brilliant,

0:41:250:41:27

You've got a profit now of £50 to take home. Yes!

0:41:270:41:31

That could be the winning score. So, poker face, guys.

0:41:320:41:36

-Keep calm.

-Yes.

-Don't say anything to the Reds.

0:41:360:41:39

-Well, I can tell you that both of you have made money.

-Wow!

0:41:450:41:49

But one of you has made a little bit more than the other.

0:41:490:41:53

And today's runners-up, I'm afraid,

0:41:530:41:55

are the Blues.

0:41:550:41:57

-Aw!

-Yes!

-Guys.

0:41:570:41:59

Well, you did really, really well to begin with.

0:41:590:42:02

You got £50 with that Corgi Land Rover.

0:42:020:42:06

-Amazing.

-Impressive.

-I know, amazing.

0:42:060:42:08

Then it went a little bit downhill but we won't to talk about that

0:42:080:42:11

-and we came out with £50.

-Yes.

0:42:110:42:13

So, absolutely wonderful.

0:42:130:42:14

But today's winners are the Reds with a whopping £215.

0:42:140:42:21

-Wow!

-I know, wow. It is wow!

0:42:210:42:23

It is wow and your biggest profit was your first item

0:42:230:42:26

which made £70, that Arts & Crafts trivet.

0:42:260:42:28

Then, you know, you just continually went to make profit. It was amazing.

0:42:280:42:32

I better give out some money, then.

0:42:320:42:34

So, here we are, there is £50.

0:42:340:42:35

Thank you very much.

0:42:350:42:37

-Me. I think, yes.

0:42:370:42:39

-This is a huge amount of money!

-I know!

-£215.

-Thank you very much.

0:42:390:42:44

Because you made so much money and you made profits

0:42:440:42:47

on each of your three items,

0:42:470:42:49

you are entered in to the Order of the Golden Gavel.

0:42:490:42:52

So yes, your golden gavel here.

0:42:520:42:54

-There's one for you.
