-My name is Tomos Owens

-and I'm from Gorslas.

-I'm here at Brechfa today

-to do some practice on the bike.

-I do mountain bike racing.

-I'm not sure how I became interested

-in it, to be honest.

-I started in 2007. I used to come

-up here for a day on the bike.

-It took off from there.

-I liked doing it,

-so I decided to start racing.

-I practise up here all the time -

-about five times a week.

-I do it because of the feeling I get

-from being on the bike.

-I love the feeling of the wind

-rushing by me and the jumps.

-Racing can be dangerous.

-The air ambulances are up in the sky

-all the time.

-People are always breaking bones.

-You have to have the right kit.

-I'm lucky

-not to have been injured yet...

-..but I'm sure the day will come.

-To reach the finals for a race,

-we practise on the Saturday...

-..then on the Sunday,

-there's qualifying in the morning.

-You have to complete the course

-as quickly as possible...

-..to reach the final.

-Everyone pushes themselves so hard

-in these mountain bike races.

-There are different categories,

-but 300 people in all can qualify.

-There are about fifty

-in my category, on average.

-I race on a national level.

-I finished fourth in the UK.

-I'm hoping to compete

-in the World Cup and see the world.

-That's what I'm aiming for

-at the moment.
