-..have been busy competing in the

-British Youth Sailing Championships.

-The competition is over

-for another year...

-..with more success once again

-for the young sailors from Wales.

-Before we chat to some of them,

-Hannah Mills and Luke Patience.

-It's an incredibly important

-competition for young sailors.

-Hundreds of young sailors have been

-competing in Pwllheli this week...

-..from every corner of Britain.

-They've competed in

-seven different categories.

-Many of them are based

-on the Olympics.

-This gives us an idea

-of any future talents.

-The sailor will race for five days

-and each race lasts for an hour...

-..and the course is set around

-inflatable and anchored buoys.

-The sailor has

-to consider many factors...

-..for example tactics and strategies

-to deal with wind and tidal changes.

-The racing office is upstairs where

-all major decisions are carried out.

-This is where they set

-the rules and penalties.

-Many Welsh sailors have raced

-including Dan Whitely...

-..in the Laser Class who won bronze

-in the world championships in 2015.

-Dan Jones, Hattie Moseley and Gethin

-Owen are promising young sailors.

-The techies thought we were crazy.

-It was the first time for Gareth Wyn

-to work with this company.

-We've worked on so many

-big shows over the years.

-We had worked on many drafts

-of this show.

-It looked fantastic when it

-all came together on the night.

-The CD brings it all together

-and keep it safe for the future.

-The singing is superb

-and needs to be on record.

-Derek is the third member

-of the writing group.

-It's strange to think that it was

-five years ago since we decided...

-..that we would be writing a show.

-We had worked together

-for several years beforehand.

-We plucked up the courage

-..but have morphed quite a bit.

-How would you describe your sound?

-We've taken time

-to find our own sound.

-It was quite rocky initially

-but now we've developed it...

-..into something softer.

-Let's take a look at your album.

-We've released an album

-of ten songs, eight in Welsh...

-..and two in English.

-Tonight's song is called Rhyfela.

-Rhyfela is a love song about couples

-who fight and come back together.

-We're busy gigging at the moment.

-I used to be his teacher!

-I am still a headteacher!

-to complete this collection.

-My family, friends and everyone from

-Deiniolen worked in the quarry...

-..which is what inspired me.

-I'd completed 60 images of all the

-hard work quarrymen accomplished.

-They would walk to work

-in all conditions...

-..break the rock with their hands,

-before sending them to the shed...

-..where the apprentices divided them

-and make them into slate for roofs.

-I'm extremely proud

-of the work they accomplished.

-For the past 40 years,

-I've been a slate artist.

-I create clocks, coasters

-and paintings all using slate.

-Most of the slate comes from

-Llanberis, not from China!

-It all began in 1939,

-that's 177 years ago!

-It's now watched by 500 million

-people very year.

-This is, without question, the most

-famous race in the world.

-Everyone follows the Grand National.

-People like to place a bet,

-even if it's just a pound or two.

-Even if you're not a racing fan,

-everyone knows about this race.

-Thousands upon thousands

-of people who live in Liverpool.

-Thousands upon thousands

-of people who live in Liverpool...

-..head to Aintree on that day,

-especially the ladies!

-They're dressed as

-if they're going to a nightclub.

-Girls arrive in high heels and leave

-in flip flops.

-I don't know how they manage

-in their tight little dresses.

-For those of us who follow the

-horse racing and the jockeys...

-..you only get a couple of chances

-to go over the course each year.

-These fences are very different

-to how they look day to day.

-This is a very challenging course.

-It's a four mile circuit

-with sixteen fences to jump.

-Only the best get to compete

-in this race.

-I was supposed to Celtic Abbey

-one year but couldn't do it.

-I got a seat on Arctic Life in

-the Fox Hunters, the amateur race.

-Sadly we fell at Beechers Brook but

-I have great memories of the day.

-You never forget the experience.

-It was the highlight

-of my racing career.

-Red Rum - the horse that romped to

-victory in 1973, 1974 and 1977.

-No horse has ever managed to break

-his record.

-In 1985, a Welshman

-created his own record.

-We were down to about 7 or 8 yards

-behind the leader, Mr Snugfit.

-I wasn't sure

-whether we'd catch him.

-Once we reached the Elbow,

-my horse wanted to pull up.

-I gave him a couple of nudges

-and said he had to do it for me...

-..and he did.

-He put his head down, went for

-the line and the rest is history!

-There are several Welsh trainers

-hoping to make history this year.

-O'Faolain's Boy and The Romford Pele

-are trained by Rebecca Curtis...

-..down in Pembrokeshire.

-Hywel Jones' horse, Buywise,

-The owner was there to see him race

-when we were young lads.

-Everyone played tennis

-during Wimbledon.

-The Grand National is the crown

-jewel of the sporting calendar...

-Devon lock, the Queen Mother's

-horse almost won the race...

-..but did the splits near the end.

-There have been races

-where the rank outsider has won.

-1981 was a big year

-when Bob Champion won.

-He had just beaten cancer.

-In 1997, we had the bomb.

-I was on air when two security men

-came in and threw us out.

-They had to run the race

-on the Monday afternoon...

-What about the safety of the horses?

-The race is much safer these days.

-In 2011 and 2012

-they lost some good horses.

-They have put in

-extra safety measures since then.

-They have moved the start

-closer to the first hurdle.
