-Saturday is the open day of latest

-North Wales brewery, Bragdy Ogwen.

-Gerallt visited the brewery

-to find out more.

-Harry Chemist once ran a pharmacy

-at 5 Ogwen Terrace in Bethesda.

-However, these friends have swapped

-the pill bottles for beer bottles...

-..as their first brew

-is ready to be sampled.

-Why did you decide to establish

-a brewery in the Ogwen Valley?

-There used to be a brewing tradition

-at the King's Head, 100 years ago.

-They brewed their own traditional

-beer on Bethesda's high street.

-We decided to just go for it

-and we hope to start employing soon.

-In the future, we hope to expand and

-take over a company like Heineken!

-Until last summer,

-I was a chemistry teacher.

-I joined the venture as they needed

-someone with a chemistry background.

-I'm responsible for all the

-scientific aspects of brewing.

-I also order the ingredients

-that are needed to make beer.

-These hops are a vital part

-as they give beer its bitter taste.

-It's wonderful to be here

-and contribute to the community.

-We're transferring hot water

-to sprinkle over the barley.

-The hot water will filter

-down through the barley...

-..to raise the sugar

-and goodness from the barley.

-We'll then rapidly cool the barley

-and move it into the fermenter.

-That's where the beer will ferment

-until it's ready to be barrelled.

-The first variety that we've

-brewed in Bethesda is Cwrw Caradog.

-It's been named after

-the famous, Caradog Prichard.

-His novel, Un Nos Ola Leuad is

-one of the best ever Welsh novels.

-We're grateful to the family...

-..for allowing us to use his face

-and name for our first brew.

-..of Caradog Prichard's

-literary work and private life.

-It's a new chapter

-in the history of the Ogwen Valley.

-What would Caradog Prichard

-think of this new beer?

-He would be thrilled

-and would consider it an honour...

-in the Ogwen Valley named after him.

-His daughter, Mari has allowed them

-to name this beer after Caradog.

-There's a first time

-for everything...

-..and this is the first time I've

-offered beer samples in Bethesda!

-We went on the Saturday and

-stopped in Marlow near London.

-Lots of Welsh people

-came to watch us sing.

-There's a dinner to celebrate

-the birthday of the choir.

-We're also going abroad

-during the autumn.

-You deserve to celebrate.

-There's a special concert

-on Saturday.

-We have a connection

-with Karl Jenkins.

-We've performed his work twice.

-We performed one of his pieces

-in Penclawdd.

-There was also another Better is

-Peace Than War movement of his.

-We've recorded a CD

-with Karl Jenkins too.

-Cantata Memoria was a highlight too.

-We're looking forward to working

-with Karl again on Saturday.

-Every choir likes a trip.

-During the autumn,

-we're visiting Belgium.

-This will be our tenth trip abroad.

-We always receive

-such a warm welcome.

-The first Sunday of May is the

-International Migratory Songbird Day

-I'm an early riser and I'm

-very familiar with their songs.

-This year, the Royal Mail has

-released a collection of ten stamps.

-They showcase

-ten different songbirds.

-They are all first class stamps

-worth 65 pence each.

-They're designed by Osborne Ross

-using drawings by Federico Gemma.

-The great tit is one of the first to

-sing and it's followed by the wren.

-The wren is our country's smallest

-but it can make plenty of noise.

-The skylark flies high up in the sky

-and it sings very loudly.

-The blackcap has a beautiful song.

-The cuckoo stays for six weeks

-between mid-April and early-June.

-It only has two syllables,

-"cuck-oo, cuck-oo."

-I've been collecting stamps

-since I was a child.

-I'll buy these ten stamps and

-the accompanying information pack.

-Maggie's is a charity that supports

-people with cancer.

-There's currently only one

-centre in Wales.

-Maggie's holds a variety of sessions

-for cancer sufferers.

-The centre offers support for people

-of all ages, including children.

-It's important to support a centre

-like Maggie's...

-..as they were a big support to me

-when I received my diagnosis.

-I recall that I was shaking as I

-walked in and someone hugged me.

-After a few weeks,

-I wasn't nervous about returning.

-Kitchen Table Day

-will be a sociable event.

-Our doors will be open for visitors

-to have a cuppa with us.

-You can also arrange a Kitchen Table

-Day at your office or at home.

-Donating a 1 will help the charity.
