-Three years ago, our guest and the

-singer from Anglesey, Beth Frazer...

-..received the worst possible news

-which changed her entire life.

-This clip takes us back

-to the summer of 2014.

-Your life has changed dramatically

-over the past few months.

-In the beginning, I thought it was

-hay fever, which I get every year.

-After being in hospital in Bangor

-and at the Walton in Liverpool...

-..they discovered a cystic

-brain tumour in the pineal gland.

-It lies beneath the brain...

-..and is considered as the

-most dangerous brain surgery.

-It's knocked her for six and

-her life has turned upside down.

-I can't work, drive or walk.

-Breathlessness is a symptom, so I

-don't really sing the same either.

-# Open your heart to me #

-The only thing we want is for Beth

-to return to how she was.

-Beth joins me on the sofa now.

-It's great to see you.

-We look forward to Beth performing

-Yes, I'm back singing.

-I'm so excited to be back.

-I've been away from the music scene

-for three years...

-..so it's great to be back.

-You underwent surgery in Australia.

-It isn't available on the NHS...

-..because it's too dangerous.

-The community raised 60,000 for

-me to go to Australia...

-..for the operation.

-We can see photographs

-of the surgeon.

-What happened?

-They realized

-it was bigger than expected.

-The MRI found that it was 1.6cm...

-..but it was actually 2.5cm in size.

-It took much longer to remove.

-If I didn't have the operation...

-..then I doubt

-I would be here today.

-I'm so grateful to the community.

-They enabled me to have the surgery.

-It's going to take a long time

-to recover.

-I'm much better.

-I don't need to wear sunglasses

-any more...

-..and don't get headaches.

-I go to the gym...

-..and practice walking

-in the swimming pool.

-It's amazing.

-Elin spoke to you in that item.

-Elin, you're delighted that Beth

-has been able to resume her career.

-Yes, it's wonderful to have Beth

-back on our screens and singing.

-We live close together.

-I'm delighted that she's back.

-Why bring it to Llandudno?

-I remember being in school...

-..and we didn't speak

-about LGBT issues.

-It was important for us to compete.

-We met with some people

-from the Iris Prize Festival.

-They asked us to make a film

-about being gay.

-You have a powerful story to tell.

-The film is about a girl

-who comes out as being gay.

-Why did you want to tell this story?

-There's a bridge in our area.

-People use that

-bridge to commit suicide.

-You're in the top ten.

-It's important for me to be here.

-When I was in school...

-..they didn't have gay films

-or produce them.

-I'd like to see the Iris Prize

-Festival travel around Wales.

-I've worked on many film festivals.

-Berwyn asked me to be involved.

-the Iris Prize Festival...

-..steps out of Cardiff.

-at the Wales Millennium Centre...

-in this year's St David Awards.

-Today marks the fourth St David

-Awards that has run for four years.

-We've revealed this year's shortlist

-today so it's been very exciting.

-There are eight categories that

-include Bravery, Sport and Culture.

-It's been great to receive

-all the nominations.

-We're a small country

-but achieve so much.

-I wanted to tell Llinos in the

-studio but was sworn to secrecy.

-It's great that the Cory Band is

-nominated for the Culture Award...

-..because they work so hard

-and it's a quality band.

-The world's best brass band...

-..represents all that's great

-about Welsh culture and music.

-I'm nominated

-for the Young Person Award...

-..for my voluntary work

-with children in sport.

-It's the second time of being

-nominated so it came as a shock.

-We don't know who has nominated us.

-I hope we were nominated

-for our produce.

-More importantly,

-we have a workforce of about 60...

-..but started as just the pair of us

-close to 30 years ago.

-I'm here to represent Paralympics GB

-and Team GB.

-We've been nominated

-for the Sport Award.

-It was an incredible summer so

-I'm delighted with the nomination.

-Wales is small

-but we achieve great things.

-This nomination is not for me

-but for the National Eisteddfod.

-I'm one man

-who works for the Eisteddfod...

-..but have a team of workers

-who share in this nomination.

-It's a way to award those who work

-in our communities and nation.

-The people of Wales

-can nominate the Welsh...

-..so that we can see the good deeds

-that they do all over the country.

-This nation should celebrate groups,

-individuals and communities.

-The people made these nominations.

-They use their voice to honour those

-who are important to them.

-Congratulations to everyone and good

-luck at the ceremony on 23 March.

-Heno became part of history

-this week.

-Our presenters and reporters

-signed one of 10,000 slate tiles...

-..to house the glorious

-Tredegar House in Newport.

-This is how you can be part

-we're doing a lot of work...

-is getting a new roof.

-It's going to have

-10,000 new slates.

-We've kept 500 of them for people

-to come here and sign them.

-We really needed a new roof as the

-team that cares for the house...

-..has emptied buckets upon buckets

-of water every morning and night.

-It's a massive undertaking at a cost

-of 1.3 million but it's essential.

-The house does look different

-as a result of the process...

-..but the visitors understand this

-is about preserving the house...

-..and the collection

-that is in the house too.

-It's our chance to give

-something back to the community.

-Various schools and the Heno team

-has signed some slates.

-They will go up and the new roof

-will stand for many years.

-It means that you're a part

-of the house.

-We hope all the work

-will be completed by the autumn.
