0:01:160:01:21

-Good evening, Huw.

0:01:250:01:28

-..that's held

0:01:280:01:33

-One of the organisers of the event

0:01:330:01:42

-It's been lots of work.

0:01:420:01:50

0:02:120:02:17

0:02:180:02:24

-They've all suffered

-from breast cancer.

0:02:240:02:30

-We're here to celebrate

-and raise money.

0:02:300:02:42

-Raising money is essential

-for the charity.

0:02:430:02:48

-Fundraising is important

-to keep the charity going.

0:02:480:02:53

-Tonight, we have two shows and

-hope to raise lots of money...

0:02:540:03:00

-..to safeguard the future of the

-charity to help sufferers.

0:03:000:03:06

-Earlier today,

-we met some of the models.

0:03:060:03:09

-I was diagnosed with

-breast cancer in 2003.

0:03:190:03:23

-My first thought

-was that I was going to die.

0:03:230:03:28

-The hardest part

-was telling the family.

0:03:280:03:32

-When I was diagnosed,

-Ffion was only nine years old.

0:03:330:03:37

-I had to wait a few days

-before going to tell my parents.

0:03:370:03:42

-A fortnight later,

-I had a mastectomy...

0:03:420:03:46

-..and I also took Tamoxifen

-for five years.

0:03:460:03:50

-Six years ago,

-I was diagnosed at the age of 39.

0:03:510:03:55

-I recall finding a lump

-when I was applying fake tan.

0:03:560:04:03

-I tried to tell myself not to panic

-as many family members had cancer.

0:04:030:04:10

-Two years before my diagnosis,

-my sister was told she had cancer.

0:04:100:04:18

-All is well now.

0:04:180:04:25

-I was fortunate to be in the show

-in Cardiff two years ago.

0:04:250:04:29

-It was an emotional evening as my

-mother suffered from breast cancer.

0:04:300:04:36

-My cousin also suffered from cancer

-during her 40s.

0:04:360:04:42

-I'm delighted to be able

-to support once again.

0:04:420:04:47

-Breast cancer suffers view

-their body in a different way...

0:04:480:04:54

-..and especially those

-who have had a mastectomy.

0:04:550:04:59

-You worry about wearing

-certain clothes.

0:04:590:05:04

-The opportunity to walk the catwalk

-is a confidence boost for us.

0:05:050:05:11

-I started volunteering for Breast

-Cancer Care around five years ago.

0:05:110:05:16

-The work they do is important...

0:05:160:05:21

-..as they offer support and

-information from the very first day.

0:05:220:05:26

-It's been great to hear

-of the positive stories...

0:05:260:05:31

-..and how the experience

-has changed the lives of others.

0:05:310:05:35

-If we raise more money and awareness

-for the charity...

0:05:350:05:39

-..there's a chance

-we'll help improve the treatment.

0:05:390:05:46

-After the show, I will be running

-half marathons with my children.

0:05:490:05:55

-I look forward to showing people

-that I'm healthy...

0:05:550:06:01

-..and there's no need to worry

-about facing cancer.

0:06:010:06:05

-This is a very special event.

0:06:090:06:12

-I'm joined by Sian Lloyd

-who is the host of the evening.

0:06:120:06:16

-This is also an important evening

-for you.

0:06:160:06:19

-Yes, this is a fantastic evening.

0:06:190:06:23

-I'm here to support all of models,

-but especially Mel Dole.

0:06:230:06:26

-I used to work with Mel

-on the news at BBC Cymru.

0:06:270:06:30

-She'll be on the catwalk

-for the first time this evening.

0:06:300:06:34

-She asked me to help her

-and I'm delighted to be here.

0:06:340:06:38

-This is going to be

-a fantastic event.

0:06:380:06:42

-Supporting an event like this

-is important to you.

0:06:420:06:46

-Yes of course,

-if I can help, I'm happy to do so.

0:06:460:06:50

-I also love fashion.

0:06:500:06:54

-I've already spotted an item

-that I like on the catwalk.

0:06:540:06:57

-I think we're in

-for a great evening.

0:06:580:07:00

-Thank you and good luck

-with the show.

0:07:010:07:03

-Back to you in the studio.

0:07:030:07:07

-It's set to be a great show.

0:07:070:07:10

-We hope they raise lots of money

-for such a worthy cause.

0:07:100:07:13

-My studio guest tonight

-is Dr Siwan Davies.

0:07:130:07:16

-Welcome to Heno.

0:07:160:07:19

-Thank you.

0:07:190:07:31

-You recently won a special prize.

0:07:320:07:37

-I won it for my contribution to the

-sciences in the Welsh language.

0:07:370:07:43

-I was awarded at the start

-of the month.

0:07:430:07:48

-It's a great honour

-to win the award.

0:07:480:07:53

-It's an evening

-I'll always remember.

0:07:530:08:01

-There's been an increase in the

-number of those studying science...

0:08:020:08:06

-..through the medium of Welsh.

0:08:060:08:18

-There's a real call for

-Welsh language education.

0:08:290:08:34

-This week is important

-to raise awareness...

0:08:340:08:37

-..and get people

-interested in science.

0:08:380:08:42

-Women in sciences are still

-in the minority.

0:08:420:08:46

-This is very unfortunate.

0:08:470:08:56

-However, we can encourage women

-to take up careers in science.

0:08:560:09:08

-You've been filming a new series

-for S4C on climate change.

0:09:120:09:17

-We've been filming

-a new series for S4C.

0:09:170:09:22

-I'm working with the Telesgop

-television company.

0:09:220:09:27

-We've been to Greenland

-where the ice is melting.

0:09:270:09:38

-We've also been to the Maldives

-as it's in danger of being drowned.

0:09:380:09:42

-It's been great to visit different

-locations.

0:09:430:09:46

-Let's see a clip of the programme.

0:09:460:09:48

-Climate change

-is causing this ice to disappear.

0:09:480:09:51

-This isn't what we'd expect...

0:09:520:09:55

-..considering the natural changes

-that have happened in the past.

0:09:550:09:59

-Scientists have offered a new name

-for this age - the Anthropocene.

0:09:590:10:03

-This era began when human activities

-started to have a global impact.

0:10:040:10:11

-The disappearance of this ice

-has caused me great concern.

0:10:110:10:16

-It could affect Greenland

-and the rest of the world...

0:10:160:10:21

-..and affect my children

-and their children too.

0:10:210:10:28

-I'd love to bring my students here

-to witness this ice first hand.

0:10:280:10:40

-You were surrounded by the ice but

-the Maldives was very different.

0:10:550:11:00

-I had some great experiences.

0:11:000:11:08

-It was great to see how people react

-to global warming.

0:11:090:11:13

-When will we see the series?

0:11:130:11:17

-The series will air in June

-but we're still filming.

0:11:180:11:30

-Tell us more about the field

-that you work in.

0:11:310:11:36

-I research volcanic layers to learn

-what happens in the past.

0:11:370:11:49

-Are the changes obvious in

-colder parts of the world?

0:11:560:12:02

-There are thick layers

-when you're close to a volcano.

0:12:020:12:12

-However, we're far away from

-volcanoes in Wales.

0:12:120:12:20

-Doctor Who has been a TV favourite

-since 1963...

0:12:200:12:23

-..from the first Doctor,

-William Hartnell...

0:12:230:12:26

-..to Peter Capaldi,

-the most recent Doctor.

0:12:270:12:29

-The series appeals to all ages and

-our next story features a young fan.

0:12:290:12:33

-My hobby of collecting Doctor Who

-memorabilia started nine years ago.

0:12:330:12:37

-I enjoyed the programmes and I tuned

-in weekly to see what happened next.

0:12:380:12:45

-I own about 2,131 different items.

0:12:450:12:49

-It ranges from books, DVDs, CDs,

-autographs, posters, stickers...

0:12:490:12:53

-..cards, clothes, mugs,

-action figures and so on.

0:12:540:12:59

-I've got a couple of favourite items

-including Peter Capaldi's autograph.

0:12:590:13:06

-I posted a letter to BBC Wales

-and they sent it to Peter Capaldi.

0:13:070:13:11

-He read the letter, wrote back

-and included a picture of a Dalek.

0:13:120:13:17

-It's my favourite

-because it's personal.

0:13:170:13:21

-It's in his personality

-to collect things.

0:13:210:13:25

-He gets stuck into things once

-he's found something he enjoys.

0:13:250:13:28

-Ianto is a massive fan.

0:13:290:13:32

-I've known for years

-that he likes Doctor Who.

0:13:320:13:35

-He's a massive fan and he literally

-has everything you can possibly get.

0:13:360:13:42

-I can't think of a bigger fan.

0:13:430:13:46

-The process of applying for

-a world record began a year ago.

0:13:460:13:52

-Facebook posted that the record for

-most memorabilia had been broken.

0:13:520:13:56

-It was about 1,573 items

-but I had loads more than that!

0:13:570:14:04

-I listed my 2,131 items

-and had to photograph each item.

0:14:040:14:14

-It took about 12 weeks for them

-to process everything properly.

0:14:150:14:24

-If he breaks the world record,

-I'll be extremely proud of him.

0:14:250:14:29

-Mainly for the work he's carried out

-in documenting everything.

0:14:290:14:35

-The process itself has been long

-but I'll be proud if he gets it.

0:14:350:14:43

-It would be cool to open a book

-and see my brother's name in print.

0:14:430:14:48

-He deserves to break the record

-and I wish him all the best.

0:14:480:14:53

-I hope to break the record as it's

-involved a lot of work and hassle.

0:14:530:14:59

-It would be a great achievement.

0:14:590:15:04

-I would own the world's largest

-collection of Doctor Who items.

0:15:040:15:08

-After the break,

-we mark Wales Tourism Week...

0:15:140:15:19

-..with artist, Meirion Jones at

-his favourite spot in West Wales.

0:15:190:15:24

-We've already met inspiring models

-at a breast cancer fashion show.

0:15:240:15:29

-We also hear how singing

-can help stroke sufferers.

0:15:290:15:33

-Join us in a few minutes.

0:15:340:15:36

-.

0:15:420:15:47

-Welcome back.

0:15:480:15:50

-The weather has improved

-and spring is in the air.

0:15:500:15:55

-It's the perfect time

-to mark Wales Tourism Week.

0:15:550:15:59

-We joined artist, Meirion Jones

-at his favourite place...

0:15:590:16:03

-..on the Pembrokeshire

-and Ceredigion border.

0:16:030:16:07

-We're in Ceibwr

-in North Pembrokeshire...

0:16:220:16:25

-..which is situated a few miles

-south-west of Cardigan.

0:16:260:16:29

-It's one of my favourite places.

0:16:300:16:32

-There's an unusual tranquillity

-about this location.

0:16:380:16:42

-Today is a beautiful day and you

-would expect a certain serenity.

0:16:420:16:48

-However, it's also a peaceful place

-when the weather is wild and stormy.

0:16:480:16:53

-I love the duality of this location.

0:16:530:16:58

-I've been coming here

-throughout my life.

0:17:030:17:06

-I would visit with my family.

0:17:060:17:09

-For decades,

-I've come to sketch and think.

0:17:090:17:16

-The landscape's colours

-are very interesting.

0:17:190:17:22

-There's a redness in the rocks...

0:17:230:17:27

-..and copper, ochre

-and white shades further away.

0:17:270:17:32

-These variety of colours

-are a paradise for artists.

0:17:320:17:38

-When you look at the rocks

-for the first time...

0:17:400:17:46

-..you can't help but wonder at the

-force that created the rock's folds.

0:17:460:17:53

-It's an elementary place

-where you're close to the elements.

0:17:530:17:59

-You're at one with the force

-of nature that surrounds us.

0:18:000:18:04

-However, it's also

-a changeable location.

0:18:040:18:09

-At this time of the year,

-birds sing and fly...

0:18:090:18:14

-..and the clouds

-cast a shadow over the rocks.

0:18:140:18:19

-The colours constantly change

-and there's another duality here.

0:18:190:18:23

-There's the stability

-of the timeless landscape...

0:18:230:18:26

-..and the changeable

-wildlife and weather.

0:18:270:18:30

-I've created numerous paintings

-of this location.

0:18:300:18:36

-I could spend a lifetime sketching

-Ceibwr at its different stages.

0:18:360:18:42

-It's also a place where you can

-just come for a picnic.

0:18:430:18:52

-It's always a pleasure to visit.

0:18:560:19:00

-You can lose yourself

-in the solitude and clear your mind.

0:19:000:19:04

-What a beautiful place.

0:19:160:19:24

-That's close to your family's home.

0:19:240:19:36

-My family came from nearby

-and I attended a local school.

0:19:370:19:41

-What's your favourite place

-in Wales?

0:19:410:19:46

-I would agree with Meirion...

0:19:460:19:57

-..and say that somewhere

-in Pembrokeshire is my favourite.

0:19:570:20:01

-The Epic Awards give recognition to

-those who hold a variety of events.

0:20:020:20:05

-Strike a Chord choir from Cwmbran,

-the first Welsh stroke choir...

0:20:060:20:10

-..have reached the shortlist

-for the People's Choice award.

0:20:100:20:14

-They need your vote.

0:20:140:20:19

-The choir was established thanks

-to a grant from the Head For Arts.

0:20:210:20:26

-The grant allowed

-the music teacher, Ali Shone...

0:20:260:20:31

-..to join the choir at this hall

-every Thursday.

0:20:310:20:37

-It's exciting as the choir has

-been nominated in the Epic Awards.

0:20:380:20:42

-They've received 1,000 votes so far.

0:20:420:20:46

-When Ali started working with the

-choir, they only had six members.

0:20:460:20:51

-Now, there are up to 30 people

-who attend on a weekly basis.

0:20:510:20:57

-A third of stroke survivors

-suffer from the aphasia condition.

0:20:570:21:03

-This affects their ability

-to read and their speech.

0:21:030:21:08

-However, they can often sing as they

-use a different part of the brain.

0:21:080:21:15

-Around 7,000 people suffer a stroke

-in Wales every year.

0:21:150:21:22

-It's important to bring survivors

-together and to form a community.

0:21:220:21:29

-We'd like everyone who's suffered

-a stroke in Wales and England...

0:21:300:21:35

-..to vote for the choir at

0:21:350:21:43

-# Sing in the day

-and sing in the night #

0:21:430:21:47

-They do some incredible work.

0:21:560:22:01

-Don't forget to vote for them.

0:22:020:22:04

-Dr Siwan Davies

-has kept me company tonight.

0:22:040:22:13

-There's a special conference

-in Swansea soon.

0:22:130:22:22

-The university had to make

-an application to host the event.

0:22:220:22:34

-It was a difficult process

-so we're grateful that it's here.

0:22:400:22:47

-Most of the events will be held

-at the Singleton campus.

0:22:500:22:54

-That's it from us tonight.

0:22:540:23:00

-It's Wednesday tomorrow, so you can

-win up to 1,000 in Fancy A Fortune?

0:23:000:23:08

-# Fancy A Fortune? #

0:23:080:23:12

-A man won 1,000 last week!

0:23:150:23:17

-Goodness me!

0:23:180:23:20

-Imagine winning 1,000.

0:23:200:23:22

-Congratulations you've won 1,000.

0:23:220:23:25

-# Fancy A Fortune? #

0:23:250:23:27

-You've won 1,000.

0:23:280:23:30
