-Locals refer to it as Ty Coch.

-Cymoedd Roy is a new series that

-is set to start on S4C on Sunday.

-Before we chat to the man himself,

-At the foot of the valley, stands

-the Guardian mining memorial...

-..in the village of Six Bells

-near Abertillery.

-At over 20-metres-tall,

-the memorial was commissioned...

-..to commemorate

-the Six Bells disaster in June 1960.

-Forty-five miners were killed.

-It's striking and stands on

-the site of the old colliery.

-The tallest mining memorial in Wales

-is a reminder of the tragedy.

-It all sounds very interesting.

-In addition to Roy, there are

-other contributors in the series.

-Nushin Chavoshi Nejad is among them

-and is a native of Iran.

-I'm Nushin

-and I'm originally from Iran.

-I was born in Tehran and at the age

-of ten we emigrated to Britain.

-I was raised in Cambridge

-and studied French and Spanish.

-You've settled in Wales

-and teach Welsh to others.

-Yes, I arrived in Wales

-over 25 years ago.

-I was eager to learn the language

-and I did it at a pub in Hirwaun.

-Following five years

-of evening classes...

-..I taught languages through the

-medium of Welsh at Ysgol Rhyfelen.

-I also teach Welsh and Spanish

-to adults via the Welsh-language.

-You speak perfect Welsh.

-When did you realise that you were

-in the wrong body?

-I didn't know what was wrong.

-I played with the girls

-and not the boys.

-I didn't want to wear trousers

-to school.

-I knew something was wrong

-but I didn't know what it was.

-Times have changed since then.

-Can you identify

-with The Danish Girl?

-The way the film was made

-is fantastic.

-We can all identify

-with the emotions in the film.

-I cried during the film.

-I'm sure it's great to see a film

-will understand what we're doing.

-people of my kind on occasions.

-I'm looking forward to it

-but I'm definitely nervous.

-I'm usually behind the camera,

-a 5k and 10k race for adults.

-organise outdoor events in the area.

-I'm feeling good

-and I think I have a good chance.

-I'm happy that I finished

-in 42 minutes and 22 seconds.

-a time of 36 minutes and 56 seconds.

-because I'm normally a road runner.

-The conditions were slippery and

-difficult so I'm happy with my time.

-How do you feel about being the

-first female to complete the race?

-I'm very happy

-as the race went well.

-It's great to have a race

-on your doorstep.

-It's a convenient location for me,

-just 30 minutes from Aberystwyth.

-Are you happy with your time?

-I'm happy to finish under 50 minutes

-especially as this is my first race.

-It was good and I enjoyed myself.

-It was rather muddy

-and we were soaked...

-..but I did achieve my personal best

-with one hour and four minutes.

-A host of activities have been

-organised for the coming year.

-This year, we're hosting

-several events...

-..including a duathlon, sprint

-triathlon, sportive and enduro.
