-meet the artist Gareth Wyn Jones.

-of Wales' more successful festivals.

-Tafwyl is held at Cardiff Castle

-With increased popularity, Tafwyl

-2016 is set to be the best one yet!

-who'll perform at Tafwyl 2016...

-work of artist, Gareth Wyn Jones.

-Gareth taught Latin at Ysgol y

-Berwyn and painted as a hobby.

-Since he retired,

-he's been painting religiously...

-..and recently opened an exhibition

-at the Plase Heritage Centre.

-Elin went to meet Gareth and his

-daughter who is also a keen artist.

-Yr Aran, Arenig Fawr and Berwyn are

-features of the Lleyn Peninsula...

-..with Bala Lake at its heart.

-This area is sure to inspire anyone

-with a creative streak.

-From a young age,

-I loved watching my father to paint.

-I would paint with him

-and found a love of watercolour.

-I'd paint the lake, mountains,

-hills, rivers and so on.

-My love of walking the mountains

-also feeds into my art.

-The family

-has a strong creative streak...

-..as Gareth's daughter

-is a famous artist and blacksmith.

-She's made many statues

-and a number of Eisteddfod Crowns.

-You must have many fond memories

-from this room, Angharad.

-Some of these paintings would hang

-on the walls of my childhood home.

-The autumn leaves

-left a lasting impression.

-The artwork reflects his life

-in terms of his travels...

-..birdwatching, walking, music.

-His art would not be as interesting

-had he lived another life.

-Gareth loves spending time in his

-garden shed at his home in Bala.

-It's where he creates

-his masterpieces.

-This shed is very colourful

-and it is where it all happens.

-Yes, other than those

-that are painted outdoors.

-I come here with my easel

-to work on various canvasses.

-The walls reflect the different

-techniques that I've used.

-I bought a machine from a friend

-to make the colographs.

-There are two of these

-in the exhibition.

-One is of Bryn Cocyn farmhouse and

-the other is of Bala high street.

-The exhibition features 50 years

-of work but do you have a favourite?

-Yes, and my favourite has to be

-the painting of Arenig Fawr.

-It's pure watercolour

-and that's why I love it.

-All these paintings are on sale

-but will you sell your favourite?

-It has a hefty price tag

-so I hope it doesn't sell!

-I wouldn't have been an artist if

-you didn't paint when I was a child.

-I remember telling you that I wanted

-to be an artist when I was three!

-Yes, but you made things

-as opposed to painting pictures.

-..as this shows the new techniques

-that I have learned.

-raise funds for a trip to Patagonia.

-We've been busy but the school has

-host the Gwyl Cerdd Dant Festival...

-..in Pwllheli in November.

-Many events have been organized to

-raise the funds for the event.

-One volunteer had the unique idea of

-creating jigsaw of the local area.

-Our cameras visited the

-Tonnau Art Gallery in Pwllheli...

-..when a local group

-saw the jigsaws for the first time.

-One night,

-I was sat in front of the fire...

-..wondering how I could raise money

-for the Gwyl Cerdd Dant Festival.

-I stared at a painting

-by the artist, Elizabeth Williams.

-That's when I thought about

-producing a jigsaw of the image.

-There are boxes of 500 or 1,000

-pieces and they're selling well.

-Some people are buying them

-as Christmas gifts...

-..and those who enjoy jigsaws

-are buying them for themselves.

-One of the main reasons to buy

-is the great quality of the image.

-I started on this piece of work

-ten or twelve years ago.

-I'm glad that it's

-under the spotlight once more.

-Some buildings in the painting

-have disappeared into the sea.

-I'm glad that my painting can

-help raise money for the festival.

-It will be great to welcome the Gwyl

-Cerdd Dant Festival to Pwllheli.

-We've been hosting these afternoons

-every Thursday for a while.

-We take every opportunity to support

-the Gwyl Cerdd Dant Festival.
