Hello and welcome to the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow,

where we are getting ready for our big party and starting

Our audience are beginning to arrive. How many are coming? Our

artists are warming up. Later tonight we'll be joined by a

traditional band with a 21st century twist. The powerhouse that's

Treacherous Orchestra! Straight from the BBC Two's Naked Choir, the

singing sensation Choral Stimulation. The wonderful Phil

Cunningham and Aly Bain are here. They'll be talent liegs us with a

wee tune shortly. And we'll all be catching Rollermania as we sing

Shang-A-Lang and waive Bye-Bye Baby with the Bay City Rollers! And I am

beyond excited. When the clock strikes 12 tonight we'll be bringing

you a bird's-eye view of the fireworks from Edinburgh Castle as

well as the performances from the peoples hall and Bathgate band.

Carol Kirkwood is on the Royal Mile. I'm just outside St Jiems Cathedral,

where everyone is here with an enormous outdoor ceilidh. But the

outdoor celebrations started last night with the annual Torchlight

Procession, as thousands wound their way through the capital to create a

river of file, on their way to Calton Hill. What a beautiful sight

to start the countdown to 2016. Tonight however it is all about the

dancing. Everyone is getting into the Scottish country dancing spirit,

because in just half an hour there'll be 2,016 people attempting

to break the record for the biggest ever Strip The Willow. I will keep

you up to date with what's happening with that. In fact Jackie I might

just check to see if they've got enough people to take part in it.

will try to read as many out as I can. The amazing Scottish band Biffy

Clyro are headlining the the concert in the gardens later. To whet your

appetite, here is a taster of what is to come. Biffy Clyro are one of

the biggest and best live bands in the UK. They rocked stadiums and

festivals all over the world. Tonight for their only gig of the

year they are headlining Edinburgh's Hogmanay. The Scottish trio have

sold over 1.5 million albums in the UK, including their number one album

Opposites, and their double platinum Only Revolutions. 2016 is going to

be a huge year for these boys from Ayrshire with the release of their

7th studio album. It all starts right here. Happy Hogmanay! We are

getting edgy. We can't wait to play the show. It's been so long. Make

sure you don't miss them. Kick-start the new year and get the fans rocky.

I'm joined by some members of a band who made pop history. They reformed

just a few months ago and recently had a run of sellout gigs across the

land. Ladies and gentlemen, it can only be the Bay City Rollers!

CHEERING. Thank you. If someone had told Jackie Macpherson from Hamilton

in 1974 she would one day be standing by the Bay City Rollers,

and Aly especially... Anyway. Why did you decide to get back this year

after 40 years? It was that picture you texted me on my Twitter account.

You and your Bay City Rollers outfit. Let's not go there. I didn't

retweet it. That's kind of you. Seriously, we've got back together

and we've been recording last year our new album. It is going to come

out just before Mother's Day. Our single is going be called Boomerang.

We thought we had better go out and do something, so we thought we'll do

one gig, and it sold out in nanoseconds. But the reaction, we've

seen the pictures in the paper. We've seen footage. Did that

surprise even you? It surprised me very much. Unbelievable. It's been a

long journey for me. I never thought I would get back into it again. Just

the warmth of that reception. . It was brilliant. I find there's a lot

of men there. And women of a certain age. Yeah, I like women of a certain

age. Steady! This is live. Sorry, I thought it was a rehearsal! What

about you, Woody, what was it like when you stepped out on stage

together after 40 years? It was like going back 40 years It was doing the

songs everybody are familiar with. People want the truth. That is the

truth. Can you give us a taster of what you're going be playing for us

on our show tonight? Well, tonight we are going to be playing

Shang-A-Lang. CHEERING. Bye-Bye Baby. And Saturday

Night. It is sounding great already. I can hear it all now. We look

forward to it. But for the moment we are going to play out our show with
