Episode 21 Strictly - It Takes Two

Hello and welcome to Strictly: It Takes Two. Happy Bonfire Night! We

have a lot of hairspray in here, mind the sparks! They went out with

a bang on Saturday, Colin and Kristina are here. APPLAUSE What a

display they gave us on Saturday. Yes, him without his vest - Fern

and Artem are here. APPLAUSE A man a few of our contestants would like

to see on a bonfire - Craig is here! Just kidding! This is It

Live from Television Centre, this is Strictly: It Takes Two. Please

welcome your host, Zoe Ball! APPLAUSE Hello. Welcome. What an

explosive weekend we had on Strictly. We have some breaking

news. I thank you. Breaking news for you now. Saturday night, Denise

and James were top of the leaderboard receiving their first

nines of the series. It will did we know James had badly bruised his

ankle backstage earlier in the day. Argh! It is not good. Have you

anything to sedate him so we can shut him up for five minutes?! Any

medication to sedate him?! loving the concern from all his

fellow dancers! It Takes Two has heard James cannot walk on it. He

has been instructed to rest up. Sorry Denise, no Artem for you, he

is still dancing with Fern. Ian Waite is in the training room.

Hopefully, James will be OK to dance on Saturday. We will give you

an update on Wednesday when Denise and James join me on the sofa.

thrown into chaos. It is Strictly killing me off! I'm a fighter.

this week. Fingers crossed it will all be all right on the night.

is firework weekend. I want them to wow me! I want to see Fern like a

banger, boom! Denise doing the Viennese waltz. I want to see her

spinning around that floor like a Catherine wheel. That was

terrifying. Before you start it, you are negative. I can't remember

how many spins. I do need to go through it. You are not standing up

properly! Let's go through it now. Wow! I don't know what that means,

but all the girls are talking about it. I will have something little,

for a change, to eat. Mmm. Pasta. Hello! Oh, the fish. What's in

here? Oh, the potato with the peas and broccoli. A bit of chicken is

OK. That is all I'm having. unhealthy! No chips, no dressing,

no potatoes, just broccoli and chicken, this is supposed to be

your male, you a dancer now! they real eyelashes? Of course they

are, everything is real! Even the hair?! All very exciting, isn't it?

Cannot wait. Proper dancing, that is what we want to see. Yes! Bring

it on! One, two, three, one, two, three... All the pro boys have

disappeared. Where are they? It is all getting terribly exciting. The

dancing is becoming formidable, which I am loving. You have two

minutes. Two minutes. There are no gimmicks, tonight it is pure dance

and I think that is going to be fantastic. Good evening, ladies and

gentlemen and children, welcome to Strictly Come Dancing, it is nice

to see you, to see you... AUDIENCE: Nice! I do think the

right person went out. To move forward, people need to put a

little bit more effort into the minor details because that's what

we will be looking for. We have been told! Please welcome

Colin and his Bond girl, Kristina. APPLAUSE I didn't want to see you

two today. How heartbroken are you, Colin, that your Strictly journey

has ended? I'm cut up, really. I enjoyed it. It was fantastic. We

were having fun. I got my highest score. That is most unfair, you had

27, your highest score. When I was looking down the leaderboard,

Colin's safe, that's fine. Then look what happens on the results

show. Kristina, were you devastated? I was. It was such a

horrible feeling and I didn't see it coming and it was really one of

those sad moments. It always happens on the show, a great dance

and you are up the leaderboard and there's a shock and somebody goes

home. We are all gutted. You have had so many messages of support.

These are what set me off last night. "A shock to see Colin Salmon

leave, he was a gentle giant." Sue said, "A real gent, they will be

sadly missed." How did your fellow contestants react? I'm the old man,

so I'm quite supportive of everybody. It was emotional.

was your wife? She's been in the studio every week and your daughter

was there on Saturday night? Yes. How has it been for them? When I

got put in the bottom two, Fiona was resigned, as I was, I didn't

know what to do, I had lost it by then. My daughter cracked up. She

was crying. It is heartbreaking. It's been great. Everything I said

was real. I meant what I said. is emotionally draining. It is like

a rollercoaster, the highs are a high and the lows are a low. You

were in pieces last night, crying? I know. Every year, you know, when

you get to this point, I promise myself, "Don't cry!" I can't help

myself. I put my heart and soul in what I do. That is the key to

what... I enjoyed my journey with him and it was so shocking and so

heartbreaking for me that it's all over. Heartbreaking for all of us.

We will be missed. She is off! We have the Glitterball tissues! This

will get you going. You are dancing with Kristina! Kristina is a

fantastic dancer. I hope I don't let her down. I'm known for being

strict. I'm cracking my whip a little bit. Seven, eight, one...

think I have done well in dance school. Will I pass? Let's hope

it's an A! LAUGHTER Best cha-cha of the night. Kristina is kind, gentle,

brilliant at what she does and is the greatest teacher going. That

was awesome! I'm going to dance... I think you are dancing more to

your height. That is good to see. Well done. A man that can ballroom

and Latin. APPLAUSE The dance this week is the Argentine tango. We

will be bringing in the Bond element. Colin is my James Bond. He

is a strong, handsome man. You can take anything they throw at you and

she gave you everything! I would have liked to have seen a dirtier

spy. All right! This week, I am dancing the salsa. There is no time

to think. This one needs to come very quickly. The footwork was a

bit haphazard. Maybe it wasn't a dirty salsa, but it was a saucy

salsa this time. You don't get away with anything. They are

professionals. They know what they are looking for. I need to show

what I can do. I want to make sure I get to the flashy bit! That is

lovely. I didn't think I would enjoy it. I'm having a good time

out there. You have more extension than Darcey Bussell! Move more! You

have to move more. The couple with the most votes will stay in the

She is an amazing woman and dancer. Now, a good friend. I have never

met a person like him. You are the coolest guy. You made this journey

Saturday night. I enjoyed the foxtrot, the first run was

fantastic. It was. The cha-cha-cha was amazing. I enjoyed them all.

than any of us. Who do you reckon? I'm going to back up Lisa and Robin.

He is my professional partner and a dear friend. I think they have got

Let's see. Sid Owen once had a demi weave perm whilst sat next to Al

Yes, please! Darling. That must be a first, coming on to Twisted

Firestarter!? Yes. How was Saturday for you? How was the overall

standard of dancing? Fantastic. I do. Everyone has improved clearly.

I was genuinely excited by the dancing. I love it when you are

excited. We have had Hollywood and Hallowe'en. Was it good to get back

to the old-fashioned nitty-gritty? Yes, you can take so much of all of

the ex-trainious ideas. It is wonderful to see people do the

dance properly. I adore that. They don't have anything to hide behind.

That also is a good test. Let's talk about Richard and Erin. You

said it whizz a dance disaster. You had a point, Sir? It was. -- Was a

dance disaster. You had a point, Sir? It was. I love the fact she

was dancing threw gritted teeth. None of it was going -- through

gritted teeth. None of it was going in. They did a fantastic job.

Actually, it was very good. I was really delighted. Good. Thank you.

Denise and James and their Viennese waltz. It was a proper gasp - this

is so good? It was so beautiful. Down to just the finer details of

her hand-shaping on his back, all of that. It was beautiful,

beautiful to watch. I loved it. tricky was the choreography that

James gave her here? Well, the thing is, there's simple steps but

they have to be executed in such a professional fashion to make it

look as beautiful and lilty like that. She did really well.

course, James did it with a bruised foot. Yes. On painkillers. When I

looked at it, it looked like a bad tan! I know, but I don't think it's

good. I know he was really limping after the show on Saturday night.

So I was concerned. Fingers crossed... I might have to fill in!

Oh my God! Can you only imagine?! Hold him back! It could happen.

LAUGHTER Louis and Flavia and their Samba. Now, confusing here because

everyone thought it was brilliant, you gave him some great comments.

Then you only scored him six? because it wasn't worth a seven. If

he had a bit of that double bounce action, then... Is that not a

double-bounce? No. You have to do... And there wasn't any of the ah-ah-

ahs, darling! Double bounce, it should have that all the way

through it. It is all right us saying this in a chair, but I know

what you mean. Dani and Vincent and the jive. This was great, such good

energy. Vincent was hilarious? was brilliant. I was trying to say

bubbly, bright, fantastic, and I sort of lost the plot a little bit.

You were distracted. Yes. You said, cop on eye -full! That is why a

lady should keep their legs together! You always keep your legs

together! Nicky and Karen's rumba. I was caught up in the romance of

this. Yes. Then you gave him a four? She was great. Oh! What was

missing? What has he got to give you? It had the romance and the

storyline. I wanted to see less posing, less of him presenting her.

By that, he stood there a lot holding one arm out while she did

all the work. Then she would cross over... Is that not what the rumba

is about? He should be moving through the full... Can you

demonstrate? It is moving constantly, you know what I'm

saying? You have stopped! Keep going. I have stopped NOW, darling!

Go. There should be movement... all times? If you are stopped in a

position, you don't really stop, you reach and elongate and go to

the next step. There wasn't enough for me. I want to see him dance

more. Rather than holding his arms out. OK. You have made your point.

I have to admit I was slightly distracted by Artem's chest! I did

manage to see a few wobbles, however, in there. If it was a

firework, it is a banger. This fizzed but it never exploded.

was a fire, Fern. We have been telling you week after week you

have to deliver. You have to get it out there!

24, that was all right. This has had a lot to do with it. I enjoyed

being thrown about on the floor. You went for it every single time.

Congratulations on your paso doble on Saturday night. We will talk

say goodbye to them? Really horrible. He is lovely. He is a

very good dancer. Yeah, I just, I feel bereft. I know. We move on.

The good thing is, that during the results show you were called out

much earlier! That must be a thrill? That was so nice. Yes.

are phoning and voting. How was the paso doble for you on Saturday

night? Well, it was - I did my best and I forgot a few things,

obviously! But I enjoyed it. And there's a good partner there, isn't

he? He is all right. He is not too bad. I don't care what the others

say, he is all right! Artem, your girl went one place up the

leaderboard, you must be pleased? am. It is our best score so far.

joint best one. We added five points on. We are doing something

right. We are! More of that then. You were quite worried about the

paso doble and you were worried about the judges' comments. Yes,

fair enough, I can understand that and I try and take it on board. It

is very scary when - I have to do this and this and they still - fair

enough, dusting and polishing, and I am doing my best. It is - I have

to do some more. That is a tough thing. Some people, certain dances

may be suit them one week and if you are putting in as many hours as

everybody else, it must be hard to come back and they give you

frustrating comments? Yes. It was comments that I am used to, but the

score was fabulous. We must discuss the top, obviously, or the lack of.

Apparently, earlier on in the day you were going to be wearing a

gladiator-style top. I was. someone steal it? No. I think it

didn't quite work with... It wasn't as flattering on you as it could

have been. LAUGHTER His skin was the best to fit! Whose decision was

it to go topless? Wasn't mine! Wasn't mine! Thank you to whoever

made that decision. APPLAUSE We are all very happy about it. Next week

shorts, perhaps. We were thinking suede chaps. Next week, it is the

salsa, a fun, party dance, are you enjoying it? Lovely. We have had a

lovely day. It is fast and furious. There are lots of steps and arms.

We have a good joke, I think. We are not going to tell you what it

is. We have got a joke. We will keep it a secret. A bit of humour.

Obviously, the judges have been saying push, Fern. Have a look at

APPLAUSE OK, we have all the other people to get through. Kimberley

and Pasha, a great show opener. You used loads of words beginning with

"L" - lubricious? It comes from lubrication. Of course. It means

well-oiled. I use these terminologys with actors when I am

working with them. It is what I use in my day job. OK. That is what he

tells us! You loved it? Yes. Sometimes she gives the game away.

You can tell in her face that she is not confident and she needed to

release herself a bit more and trust the steps that she had learnt.

If she had of done that, that would have flown. It didn't take off.

That step there, is... A bachacada. Can you do them? No, I'm dreadful!

Michael and Natalie, great on Saturday, you did say missing the

style, swing and sway? For men, it is a difficult thing to use the

swing and the sway. That gives it the beautiful shaping. He gets the

steps, which is great. I think just as an encouragement he needs to put

more style into it, a bit more razzmatazz, a bit more swing and

more sway! It gives you that wonderful... It looks finished.

Lisa and Robin and their tango, a bit of a ruckus amongst the judges

after this. I liked her performance. It was wonderful to see her serious

side and to see her not using all that showbiz jazz hands stuff. I

really liked how they worked on this together, creating a frame.

She still could work on her left hand, that was very flat and to the

back and the palm should face the floor. OK. It is tiny details like

that that will get them the nines and eventually the tens. Oh. Let's

hope we get some of those soon. Fern and Artem, Artem's chest aside,

although let's... It is difficult to ignore as we have all been

talking about. She did a really nice job. There is a lot of arms

that were loose. That was messy. Some of those things could be more

efficient. The way you get someone's hands and place it in a

definite fashion. If you don't, it is always going to look messy and

loose. She was getting some of that Spanish shaping. Good. Generally,

marvellous? Marvellous. Do come back next week. We love you. Craig
