Hello. Welcome to Wednesday's bumper edition of It Takes Two. You

:00:11.:00:15.

wanted sunshine. They gave you sunshine. Lisa and Robin are here.

:00:15.:00:22.

You wanted tens, they gave you tens, two tens, it's Lisa and Flavia.

:00:22.:00:25.

This week we have dance fusion. To talk about that and the training

:00:25.:00:31.

rooms, Ian Waite is here, in his Dickie bow. And it's very exciting.

:00:31.:00:36.

We finally get to see our pros go up against each other. I love it.

:00:36.:00:45.

The launch of the Pro Challenge 2012. This is It Takes Two

:00:45.:00:55.
:00:55.:01:16.

Live, from Television Centre, this is Strictly It Takes Two. Please

:01:17.:01:26.
:01:27.:01:27.

welcome your host, Zoe Ball. Hello and welcome. A jam-packed

:01:27.:01:37.
:01:37.:01:38.

show tonight. First, some Strictly Thank you. Time for a very special

:01:38.:01:43.

announcement. Strictly Come Dancing needs you. Yes, over the next

:01:43.:01:47.

couple of weeks, Strictly wants the whole nation to learn a very

:01:47.:01:52.

special dance. We'll be teaching you the Strictly Shimmy. Oh, yes.

:01:52.:01:56.

During the grand final on Saturday, 22nd December, we want all of you

:01:56.:02:00.

up on your feet dancing along at home. Here are Robin and Christ

:02:00.:02:10.
:02:10.:02:17.

teen with a quick demonstration. -- Shimmy! Oh, thank you, Robin and

:02:17.:02:23.

Christine, very, very nice. You lot ready? Take it away. Five, six,

:02:23.:02:33.
:02:33.:02:42.

Ladies and gentlemen, our A team. Our runners and our dancers, led by

:02:42.:02:47.

Ian Waite. See, it's easy. You just have over two weeks to perfect the

:02:47.:02:53.

dance at home. All the details with a step-by-step video and all the

:02:53.:02:57.

moves can be found on the Strictly website. We'll readvice the

:02:57.:03:02.

Strictly Shimmy later to see how you are getting on. -- revisit. I

:03:02.:03:06.

can reveal very big news indeed now. For the first time, ever, in

:03:07.:03:10.

Strictly history. There will not be two, not three, but four couples in

:03:10.:03:16.

the final. That's awesome news. And that was

:03:16.:03:23.

Strictly breaking news. Thank you. You were good. You were good. Back

:03:23.:03:28.

to tonight's show. It's fuegs week with our couples tackling two dance

:03:28.:03:33.

styles in one performance. -- fusion. Lisa and Robin will be

:03:33.:03:39.

blending a tango with a cha-cha-cha. But first, here's a quick recap of

:03:39.:03:42.

Saturday's quickstep. What you bring to this show every week is a

:03:42.:03:47.

bit of sunshine. I bet you Eric and Ernie are look down, cheering you

:03:47.:03:52.

on. Well done. Your personality couldn't be more bride. I need a

:03:52.:03:56.

sunshade. Off zest for life it. Comes across in your performances.

:03:56.:04:02.

You had a messy incident before the second Charleston which got you out

:04:02.:04:10.

of sync but the energy is incredible. Sunshine. Sunshine.

:04:10.:04:16.

was like we were a lightbulb flying around the floor. It was a really

:04:16.:04:20.

good feeling. Really overjoyed with the score. I'm a very, very happy

:04:20.:04:30.

girl. Please welcome Lisa and Robin. The

:04:30.:04:34.

brilliance of sunshine. It was awesome on Saturday night. We loved

:04:34.:04:39.

it. Did you enjoy yourself? You looked like you were having a

:04:39.:04:43.

better time than ever. It was brilliant. I loved it too much. I

:04:43.:04:48.

made two whopper mistakes which the judges thankfully didn't see. I'll

:04:48.:04:54.

admit I did. What were they? I just started bouncing on my own, like a

:04:54.:04:58.

little bounce ball. I kept moving at least. That bit there. A little

:04:58.:05:02.

hiccup there, but carried on going. That is the main thing. Everyone is

:05:02.:05:08.

just look at the joy of the dance. We didn't notice. However, was it

:05:08.:05:12.

quite nice actually to have gone from the rumba to a faster-paced

:05:12.:05:15.

dance? Yes. We enjoyed the rumba, but to come back to the rehearsal

:05:16.:05:21.

room to fun, fast, furious choreography and having a ball, it

:05:21.:05:25.

was great. We just hope we brought a ray of sunshine to good old Great

:05:25.:05:30.

Britain on Saturday. You jolly well did. Even Darcey loved it. She said

:05:30.:05:34.

it was absolutely beautiful. Was it good to get her back on side after

:05:34.:05:38.

the week before? Completely. Everyone does like us doing the

:05:38.:05:42.

fast and furious stuff. All dressed in yellow. The panel were gorgeous

:05:42.:05:47.

on the weekend, they really were. Even Bruno saying he wanted

:05:47.:05:54.

sunshades on. We loved it. It was great. Let's talk about the rolly

:05:54.:06:02.

polly moment. It was so good. We have put it in slow motion.

:06:02.:06:09.

tongue is out, I'm concentrating. Oops. She puts the G in graceful.

:06:09.:06:15.

Did you slightly misfire? We'd not practiced in the frock. My back is

:06:15.:06:23.

covered in crystals and satin on the leather. I go for it and whoosh.

:06:23.:06:28.

The thing that made me laugh was, you looked at each other and

:06:28.:06:33.

laughed - did that just happen? are not supposed to laugh but I

:06:33.:06:38.

giggled. You did seem genuinely touched when Len said Eric and

:06:38.:06:42.

Ernie would have approved of your performance. I have watched them

:06:42.:06:47.

since I have four. They were comedic geniuses. For Len to say

:06:47.:06:51.

they were shining down on me, that was the result I wanted, more than

:06:51.:06:56.

any comment. If you lip-read, I said, "Can you believe that

:06:56.:07:02.

comment?" I couldn't believe it. Last week, nobody nue, you two had

:07:02.:07:09.

bad chest infections. You were poorly. -- nobody knew.! The

:07:09.:07:12.

quickstep is so fast. We lost training on Thursday and couldn't

:07:12.:07:17.

do anything on fri. You lose two days. When you dance the quickstep

:07:17.:07:21.

breathing is a problem but half way through the dance I felt I wanted

:07:21.:07:24.

to stop, the oxygen wasn't going in. We got through it. That was the

:07:24.:07:28.

main thing. Everybody seemed to enjoy it. We left very happy that

:07:28.:07:31.

day. You think chest infections is something you have been battling

:07:31.:07:36.

until the training room. Check this for a list of ailments, Lisa Riley.

:07:36.:07:42.

I currently can't feel my legs, my knees, my shins, my calfs, my feet,

:07:42.:07:49.

or the balls of my feet. What if I die. The biggest hypochondriac I

:07:49.:07:53.

have ever met. A splinter in my foot. I thought I broke something.

:07:53.:08:03.
:08:03.:08:04.

You had a broken toe that healed miraculously. It hasn't even healed.

:08:04.:08:14.
:08:14.:08:14.

I'm not moaning. I'm in agony with my feet. I've got a bad ankle. Pain,

:08:14.:08:17.

absolute pain. It's like tonsillitis but extreme. That could

:08:17.:08:22.

have blinded me. We have gone from underarm pain to chronic neck pain

:08:22.:08:28.

and spinal pain I even tell you Bmy feet are killing me.

:08:28.:08:37.

-- tell you about. You are a hypocon dry ac. I would get an A-

:08:37.:08:41.

plus for that. It is dance fusion. Which dances are you marrying

:08:41.:08:48.

together? We are doing the tango into the cha-cha. So we have called

:08:48.:08:52.

it the Cha-tango. ! Obviously we are doing our cha-

:08:52.:08:56.

cha, which was our dance number one on the series. One of our

:08:56.:09:02.

favourites. And I love the tango. We are merging them together.

:09:02.:09:09.

have someone special to say happy birthday to. My gorgeous granddad

:09:09.:09:15.

Sam. Happy birthday. I miss you loads and love you. Happy birthday.

:09:15.:09:19.

Good luck. I love granddad Sam. Good luck at the weekend. We know

:09:19.:09:23.

you are going to be brilliant. Lisa and Robin. Robin, you are not

:09:23.:09:29.

allowed to go too far. You are launching the Pro Challenge.

:09:29.:09:34.

Soon Iain will be here with his Wednesday warm-up but first he

:09:34.:09:38.

takes Karen for a trip in the time machine to the 1940s as they reveal

:09:38.:09:45.

all about the jive. It's at the height of the Second

:09:45.:09:50.

World War. America has joined the Allied Forces and American

:09:50.:09:59.

servicemen, the GIs, have arrived in Britain. Howdy, ma'am. It was a

:09:59.:10:03.

bit of a culture shock for the English. The Americans were easy-

:10:03.:10:09.

going. Walked with swagger and brought a whole host of goodies

:10:09.:10:15.

from overseas. But most importantly, introduced

:10:15.:10:18.

brand new styles of dance, the likes of which the British had

:10:18.:10:27.

never seen. Like the jitterbug and the lindy hop. Swing music was the

:10:27.:10:33.

popular music at the time. And the fast tempo meant the dance was

:10:33.:10:38.

quick, energetic and fun. Jive was an expression used by swing

:10:38.:10:44.

musicians to mean foolish or glib. Overtime it was used to describe

:10:44.:10:50.

the dance, too. Eventually "jive" just stuck. The jive is a happy

:10:50.:10:56.

dance with plenty of knee-lifting, bending and swinging of the hips.

:10:56.:11:03.

Flicks, kicks and spins can all be incorporated into the routine.

:11:03.:11:10.

importantly, to dance the jive well, the dancer's feet need to be well-

:11:10.:11:19.

controlled and under the body. When the war was over, the GIs went

:11:19.:11:26.

home. See ya ma'am. Oi, we're not finished yet. Keep dancing. The

:11:26.:11:30.

jive remained and with the birth of rock 'n' roll, its popularity

:11:30.:11:36.

rocketed. In 1968 it was added as one of the five dances in the Latin

:11:36.:11:40.

category. Usually danced last in competitions because of how tiring

:11:40.:11:50.
:11:50.:11:52.

it can be. A brilliant piece. Welcome the very handsome GI Ian

:11:52.:11:58.

Waite. It can't get any better, and then

:11:58.:12:04.

you put on a uniform. It's fusion week. Could this be the biggest

:12:04.:12:09.

choreography chaltheng show has ever seen? I think it will be more

:12:09.:12:13.

challenging. I'm interesting to seat inane outs of the dance.

:12:13.:12:17.

Whether they'll do the first half one dance and the secretary half

:12:17.:12:21.

the other or whether they'll go in and out? It will be interesting. It

:12:21.:12:25.

probably depends on the music and the intrerpgs. Let's see our

:12:25.:12:30.

couples in training. -- interpretation. Let's see Kimberley

:12:30.:12:34.

and Paddy Ashdownia. They are doing the cha-cha-cha and tango. They

:12:34.:12:43.

have done both before. -- Pasha. She only recently did the tango.

:12:43.:12:50.

She did a spin from a fan there and it was seamless. Absolutely

:12:50.:12:54.

fabulous. But here, I have stopped it here because I want her to

:12:54.:12:58.

straighten her legs a bit more. She just needs to put down in the neegs

:12:58.:13:06.

and snap those legs back. -- knees back. This is the cha-cha-cha.

:13:06.:13:11.

want her to tone that centre. A stronger core will make a faster

:13:11.:13:16.

and more slick cha-cha-cha. She has a seriously toned core. Nick and

:13:16.:13:20.

Karen are doing a samba and American smooth. I think he will

:13:20.:13:24.

come out fighting. How is he looking? Fantastic lift work. He is

:13:24.:13:28.

very good at that. I would just like him to get his shoulders down.

:13:28.:13:33.

I have stopped it here to make three points. One, two, three.

:13:34.:13:42.

they good, or bad? A bit of both. The fist one, shoulders. If he can

:13:42.:13:48.

just get his shoulders down, I would be so happy. Point two a

:13:48.:13:53.

splaid hand on his back. Get fingers together. Tight together in

:13:53.:13:57.

ballroom. Point three is a good point. He's over the right side.

:13:57.:14:00.

They have right front to right front as you can see and you can

:14:00.:14:06.

see it is a very good position. Through the window. I would like

:14:06.:14:10.

him to carry on with this. They are dancing a reverse wave. Then it

:14:11.:14:15.

goes into the samba. This is very clever. Then they are going into

:14:15.:14:19.

the weave of a foxtrot. Obviously they are going in and out of the

:14:19.:14:23.

fusion of the dance, which is very interesting. Ander in fantastic

:14:23.:14:29.

lift there. Very tricky. -- and another. Denise' jives still one of

:14:29.:14:34.

the best of the series so far. Can she quickstep? Well there is a lot

:14:34.:14:38.

of trotting, skipping steps which are very good. Just in certain

:14:38.:14:44.

places, as you can see, if I just draw there, I'd like her to be more

:14:44.:14:49.

in James' right arm so we could see her head here. What we were talking

:14:49.:14:54.

about with Nicky. This is probably a promenade position but she should

:14:54.:15:00.

still be in that place. If I can show you... Feel free. I have to

:15:00.:15:03.

put my right front to your right front, so you are always there. I

:15:03.:15:10.

can always see your face. Here I am, out the window. I never lose you at

:15:10.:15:20.
:15:20.:15:20.

any point. You see that. Aren't I lucky? I just love to dance. Louis

:15:20.:15:26.

and Flavia are doing an Argentine tangia and rumba. He has the

:15:26.:15:33.

Argentine tangia Queen with him. Surely this will be great. -- tango.

:15:33.:15:38.

It looks good. A lovely attempt. Very expressive arms. A huge

:15:38.:15:43.

wingspan. I'd lick him to use his face more. He did it last week.

:15:43.:15:47.

into the feeling of the dance. It's slightly stepy at the moment. He is

:15:47.:15:51.

not keeping the toes on the floor. He is stepping from one foot to the

:15:51.:15:58.

other. I would like him to keep the toes on the floor. For the rumba.!

:15:58.:16:03.

Got that Louis? His body is quite high. He goes into the hips

:16:03.:16:07.

occasionally but he needs to get more into the hips for a more

:16:07.:16:13.

earthy rumba. Have you got that Louis? Dani and Vincent doing a

:16:13.:16:18.

Charleston and quickstep. Dani hasn't done the Charleston but

:16:18.:16:24.

neither has Vincent. Following on from their great vief, I think this

:16:24.:16:28.

-- jive, I think this will be a better dance for them. They seem

:16:28.:16:32.

better in the Charleston than the quickstep. Controversial. Funny

:16:32.:16:36.

faces and funny lines. For me, I think this week they should be on

:16:36.:16:44.

top. I'm going to give them the winning combinations crown. Shall I

:16:44.:16:48.

give one two? Meaning fusion combination crown. He is putting

:16:48.:16:53.

his money on the table. Finally Lisa and Robin are doing a tango

:16:53.:16:58.

and cha-cha-cha which we touched upon. Everybody loved Lisa's cha-

:16:58.:17:01.

cha-cha. She is great at the tango. Together, is this going to work?

:17:01.:17:05.

think Robin has upped the choreography. It is much more

:17:05.:17:08.

difficult than it was previous. It is going to be move difficult. She

:17:08.:17:11.

has to make sure she's straightening her legs completely,

:17:11.:17:20.

so we are seeing snappy legs. That she has fast feet and sharp

:17:20.:17:25.

transfer of the weight. So it is nice and sharp. Do you see what I

:17:25.:17:29.

mean? Didn't he do well, ladies and gentlemen. Ian Waite.

:17:29.:17:35.

It Takes Two has a history of putting our professional dancers'

:17:35.:17:40.

skills to the test. Last year, Artem won the botofogo world

:17:40.:17:45.

challenge which you may remember brought out all our dancers'

:17:45.:17:51.

competitive sides. Year we are making it harder. This year, it is

:17:51.:17:56.

time to launch the It Takes Two Pro Challenge 2012. This is a Guinness

:17:56.:18:00.

World Record, to set as many kickball changes in 30 seconds as

:18:00.:18:08.

possible. One challenge, one goal - 30 seconds. I'm joined by

:18:08.:18:18.
:18:18.:18:18.

choreographer to the stars, Richard. And World Records' adjudicator

:18:18.:18:21.

Elizabeth. It is a kick from one leg to the other leg and a back

:18:21.:18:26.

replace. The kick should be in the air and the back replace should go

:18:26.:18:30.

towards the heel or the back of your natural centre. They're really

:18:30.:18:34.

going to have to work hard to remain concentrated and focused.

:18:34.:18:39.

Because the 15 second mark it, can all go horribly wrong. Our dancers,

:18:39.:18:43.

of course, are driven to win. They're going to give it absolutely

:18:43.:18:47.

everything they've got. And they'd better. We will be watching like

:18:47.:18:51.

hawks, darling. Just 30 seconds stands in the way of our pros. The

:18:51.:19:01.

prize - a Guinness World Record. Please welcome our first contender,

:19:01.:19:11.
:19:11.:19:15.

Come on, Robin. Take a seat. Tense music, this is very serious indeed,

:19:15.:19:19.

Robin. You were unable to take part in last year's challenge, you had a

:19:19.:19:26.

poorly foot I was unwell. I missed it. I did win the year before.

:19:26.:19:32.

will remind you of that, Vincent. How eager were you to take part?

:19:32.:19:37.

Botofogos, last year, one of my favourites, I was gutted I missed

:19:37.:19:41.

it. But I had to do kickball changes. How many do you think you

:19:41.:19:45.

have done in a rebefore the world record-breaking attempt? About four.

:19:45.:19:50.

-- in a row before. Really? I imagine you hang out

:19:50.:19:56.

backstage doing them. Shall we see how you got on? OK. Time to see how

:19:56.:20:04.

Robin Zgood luck. -- Robin did. excited for the Pro Challenge. I'm

:20:04.:20:08.

expecting the first 15 seconds to be great. The next 10 to be

:20:08.:20:13.

excruciating and the last five, the worst pain I've ever experienced.

:20:13.:20:18.

Robin, welcome. Do you think you can win this challenge? I'll give

:20:18.:20:24.

it my best shot. Take to the floor. Adjudicator ready. Ready.

:20:24.:20:28.

Choreographer to the stars, are you ready, Richard? So ready. Three,

:20:28.:20:38.
:20:38.:21:10.

Five, four, three, two, one! Stop. Arrrrghhhh! Style went out the

:21:10.:21:17.

window. I noticed you were cupping your pec muscles. They bounce.

:21:17.:21:24.

gave it a good go. You did well. Robin, you may recover and leave

:21:24.:21:29.

the floor. Well done. physically exhausted. We danced for

:21:29.:21:34.

a minute-and-a-half in our numbers. I'm never out of breath. Fik be the

:21:34.:21:39.

next record holder, it would be incredible. It is a tough

:21:39.:21:45.

competition, those pros are all very good. Robin, you did look

:21:45.:21:48.

shattered. Was it harder than you thought? It was killing. After

:21:48.:21:53.

about 15 seconds my legs were on fire, just burning. What about the

:21:53.:22:00.

pecs, did they recover from all the bounce sth Still sore. After each -

:22:00.:22:06.

- all the bounce? Richard Marcel, choreographer to

:22:06.:22:11.

the stars and world record adjudicator, in the school uniform,

:22:11.:22:16.

watched the performances to verify every one. It was all about

:22:16.:22:23.

accuracy. How many do you think you managed? No idea. It felt like I

:22:23.:22:28.

did about a million. It might be slightly under a million, darling.

:22:28.:22:33.

I don't know how many qualified. Robin, your kickball changes have

:22:33.:22:43.
:22:43.:22:50.

been counted and verified. I can reveal that you performed... A

:22:50.:22:54.

whopping 62 kickball changes in 30 seconds.

:22:54.:23:01.

Are you pleased with that? I think so. I don't know how anybody else

:23:01.:23:06.

has done. Hopefully I've set the bar high. You are first on the

:23:06.:23:10.

leaderboard. I don't know how long you will stay at the top. Who do

:23:10.:23:15.

you reckon is your biggest competition? Flavia. Her Argentine

:23:15.:23:22.

tango, her feet move at the rate of Notts. She did so good last year. -

:23:22.:23:29.

- knots. Thank you so much, Robin. Who will

:23:29.:23:34.

rein supreme? Next up, Louis and Flavia will be here. But first, a

:23:34.:23:37.

reminder of Saturday's Charleston triumph. At long last, some

personality. You performed. I loved the insane doctor. It was brilliant.

:23:47.:23:52.

The tricks had the wow factor. up, close the door and call me Mary,

:23:52.:23:57.

you've got a personality and you've come out and performed. The making

:23:57.:24:07.
:24:07.:24:09.

of a true contender. A star turn. Eight. Ten. Nine. Ten! Oh, my, tens.

:24:09.:24:15.

Ten. Two of them. I've never acted like an idiot on camera before.

:24:15.:24:21.

That made it OK. Long may it continue.

:24:21.:24:26.

Please put your hands together for Louis and Flavia.

:24:26.:24:36.
:24:36.:24:36.

I have to say, Saturday night's performance was a-maazzing. It was

:24:36.:24:43.

good, really different. I enjoyed it. You are so under-stated.

:24:43.:24:47.

A complete turn around from the judges and two tens. I wasn't

:24:47.:24:51.

expecting that at all. You could tell. I think it's because I felt

:24:51.:24:56.

like I was acting like a plonker - I thought I'm not going to get

:24:57.:25:03.

great scores. That was the tricky thing, the judges saying they want

:25:03.:25:08.

performance and it doesn't feel natural. But it worked. I felt I

:25:08.:25:12.

was going over-board. But that's good. What we need. And also, only

:25:12.:25:16.

an eight from Craig. What do you think it's going to take to get him

:25:16.:25:22.

to give you nines and tens? I don't no. I really don't know. He didn't

:25:22.:25:27.

tell us what I did wrong. Maybe I need to undo my top button, I don't

:25:27.:25:31.

know. And the audience roared so much they literally took the roof

:25:31.:25:34.

off Television Centre. Have you ever heard it like that before?

:25:34.:25:38.

not in seven years. The whole of the balcony was shaking and they

:25:38.:25:42.

were pounding the floor. It was incredible. I have not heard that

:25:42.:25:46.

before. It was like being in a stadium. When you hear that you

:25:46.:25:50.

think - is this possibly the dance of the series? Also, how relieved

:25:50.:25:54.

and proud were you to get the performance you wanted out of

:25:54.:25:58.

Louis? It was brilliant. I said it was make or break week. I don't

:25:58.:26:03.

think we could put up with another low week. We need to get the judges

:26:03.:26:06.

on our side so the audience would appreciate it. So it was just

:26:07.:26:12.

perfect. What we needed. I can't stop grining. Well Darcey loved the

:26:12.:26:17.

performance. She said you were a silent movie star. Looking at your

week is fusion. For you two a tango and a rumba. Yes, a ballroom tango,

:27:48.:27:53.

not Argentine. And a rumba. Rumba we have not done before. Obviously

:27:53.:28:01.

the ballroom tango we did. Part of the routine is new. How is he doing

:28:01.:28:10.

on the rumba Good. It is a hard one, especially for the guys. Good. He

has great arms. Shows your arms. And to U2.

:28:18.:28:23.

# With or without you... # When they wrote it, I'm not sure they

:28:23.:28:29.

were imagining a tango rumba mash- up. Is it working? Yes the music is

split into two. Then there is a big build-up and it goes into a strong

:28:35.:28:40.

tango. Do you have to do much acting? Do you have to do facial

:28:40.:28:45.

expressions? Are you thinking of anyone in particular? Flavia hasn't

:28:45.:28:49.

stopped talking about how I have to get into character. Which

:28:49.:28:59.

characters have you come into? Bring back Patrick Swayze I thought.

:28:59.:29:05.

Jim Carey. Or what about Vanilla Ice? Yes, we can make that work.

:29:05.:29:11.

Am I in trouble? Keen are you to ensure it is not a four-lady final?

:29:11.:29:16.

I need to get the rumba hips moving, baby. I think you can do it. You
