Episode 36 Strictly - It Takes Two

For weeks you've been sending your routines of the Strictly

dance, hoping to win a pair of tickets to this weekend's

We'll be announcing the winners tonight.

I know you're gutted not to be going to Blackpool,

but you can't enter the competition, it just isn't allowed.

Live from London, this is Strictly: It Takes Two, with Zoe Ball!

It's Monday, we are live, and here at It Takes Two we're starting

the week as we mean to go on, having a good old Strictly gossip!

And my, oh my, have we got a lot to talk about!

Jeremy and Karen are here as we say so long, farewell,

I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.

Today is the first Monday morning in a long time that I have not thought,

call Karen and see what we are doing. It is a common experience

when you exit and you miss your partner the most. But I have my day

job, there is lots of news around at the moment, so I was back on that,

back to the real world. You went all out with the quickstep,

and as always, Beverley said, please tell Jeremy

how good his footwork was, he was not praised enough.

Is there any more you could have done to stay in the competition?

We had not been in a dance off before, an extraordinary act of

levitation, I was not ready. There is a delay between the dance and the

dance off, so when I realised it was happening, I do not remember the

dance at all! I did not know if we started on the right or left, but it

came back. I had this temptation to just do it in a completely wild way,

because I thought we were sunk. You think I did that anyway! With

respect to my partner, I thought, I want to dance it right and to have

her say, we have had eight weeks and I did not miss a step, so I wanted

her to know I had taken my time. This was your first time

in the dance off with Jeremy. Did you feel there was a chance, or

that that was it? Especially now, the competition is so fierce, it

could have been anyone. But that was as! When the red light went on, we

looked at each other and we were like, I don't want to do this! But

we have been having the best time. The last dance meant the world to

me. He did me so proud. So many people were upset, the Kaler said

to you? I so much appreciate what they did, keeping us in, because it

will have a fibreglass horse! They will clear the floor! The bride and

groom will say, it is our wedding! Rachel has got so much in store, you

will never forget that, it is wonderful. I have always been afraid

of the waltz, the box step, I will not forget it. I did a hail lead as

we came out of the left. Nobody was looking. I thought, Len would be

proud! It will never leave you. People disappointed they would not

see the guitar dams and the fireworks. Diane said, could you do

it at Children in Need next year? Have a think about it. You have been

such an amazing partnership, so much love for you, we are going to miss

you. Have a look at your story. Your partner is Karen. You will be

dancing the cha-cha. Wiggle, wiggle. Strangely fabulous. One, two, three.

You would not get that from John Snow! In the bucket. The sound of a

mistake. That is what I call making a dance your own. Get in! It is time

for Jeremy the journalist to stay at home and Jeremy did answer to strut

his stuff. A bit of Hollywood and a touch of Borehamwood, genius. It was

like watching a stork that had been struck by lightning. This stork is

about to deliver! I thought it was charming, I have never seen somebody

smile all the way through. Next, the salsa, I am trying to find out what

it is. Six, seven, give it to the girls.

It is dead and buried. T. I am back, because I want to dance with you! It

is like playing for lottery, we never know where the Lynn will land.

But I enjoyed your bottom going chunk, chunk. We are dancing a quick

step. I don't know who will not make it to Blackpool, but if you are not

there, there will be a lot of fun and a lot of entertainment missing.

Tristan. Your dedication, passion and love for what we love to do has

been absolutely amazing. Karen is the best dancer, teacher, friend,

thank you. I almost can't handle it! The

tissues are there! You have moved all of us.

Looking through that book, what are you going to miss most?

There are so many, every time I see Karen, I go, I am back because I

want to dance with you! The whole it weeks, there was a bit where we

split and went round the side, and we could not get it right, in the

end, OK, you can do whatever you want for two beats. I went crazy.

She said, I will run past the judges and distract them. I am doing some

kind of craziness and she goes, hello! It worked! I had forgotten a

lot of that, it is amazing to see it. It is all you. It is you! You

are so amazing. I will miss everything. It has been absolutely

amazing. Our copies, chats, we talked about stillness in movement.

Who does that? Just the magic that you brought onto the dance floor and

the happiness that you brought to me. Which we have all felt. I did

think of my kids, because they told me to take part, they are eight and

11, I said no a few times, they found out I had said no, and they

said, you have got to do it. I was worried they would be disappointed,

I saw this card from my daughter, thank you, dad, I am so proud of

you. You were great! They love Karen, and I thought, yes, it has

been fantastic, so thank you, everybody. You have been an amazing

partnership, we will not forget you. Jeremy and Karen! Goodness me!

Now, every week our celebrities perform

standout routines, and to get this far takes a lot of hard work.

But behind every great celebrity, there's a great pro dancer.

Week on week it has been about the contestants, this week it is about

the professionals. We would be nothing without them. We take care

of everything, we make sure the choreography is done, we need to

teach the celebrities how to dance, and mass get when it goes wrong and

make it look like there was no mistake. Follow me. Hi, mate. Get in

in the morning, we go through the costumes of four or five times,

change back into rehearsal gear, rehearsed twice with the band, with

our partners. Change out of that, go back into the fitting, go into care,

get the hair done. The best thing about my professional would be her

great patience in her teaching. I cannot talk about Kevin! I need to

talk about you, not to you! My pro dancer is my world, absolutely, he

is amazing. You rely on your pro, because otherwise you would not do

it! My pro is the best human I have ever met! How important? I cannot do

it without him. I cannot do it really. Most people start with a

cake and they just have to I sit, but he started with flour, eggs, he

had to make the cake, and then start. What I am trying to say is...

It is great being a pro, these beautiful girls but hair and make-up

on us, what more do want? The last thing I say to Peter is, have fun.

What do I say? Don't mess it up. Have fun, yes! When we come down and

the music is playing, right at the end of the dance, the end of the

music, and Kevin does this. That is why I am not a professional!

Can I just say, I was so sad, Saturday night, because Jeremy Vine

is one of the nicest, kindest people, and made all of us so happy,

and you and Karen backstage, always making him laugh! I'm going to miss

After doing so well with your Charleston last

week, how confident were you going into this week's rehearsals?

We were so happy that we got the ten, never expected it to come, and

I thought, if nothing else happens, I'm going to remember this forever.

Going in with that attitude, it helped me to relax a bit of and

enjoy the experience even more. It was great, and I really relaxed in

that stance, I loved it. You could really see that, how impressed were

you with the performance? Very impressed, it is difficult to go

from such a high, like the Charleston, you go for lists and

tricks and synchronisation, and all of a sudden, back into a technical,

ballroom, trying to keep mistakes minimum. He did brilliant, I watched

it back and thought, I'm so happy with that! I really loved it. Joint

second on the leaderboard... It is a lovely thing. You even double date

on the leaderboard! You two are unbelievable! Cannot escape it.

Bruno said you were flawless, isn't that lovely, how difficult is it in

the training room? As time has gone on, she has become like... I have

always loved her as one of my best mates, but I have got to say, it has

got even better, she knows me, she knows the first... She knows what my

face looks like, that I'm never going to get it but she allows me to

do my own thing until I get the moves. She is very patient. Len did

say that it was a bit American smooth.

She calls me the same, Fifi, and a few friends back home, and so, I may

as well change my name, a lot of people call me that! It was a bit of

an American smooth version, but for me, the song was so beautiful, and

so big. That voice, as well... Such a big song, I could not... I did not

want to stay at home the whole time, I wanted to throw my arms around.

It was only because the song... You got away with it. And Len was nice

to me, need has been quite tough this year, especially with the boys.

But I was happy that he was all right with me. Very special day

today, Manchester United, Paul Scholes, legend's birthday. We have

somebody very special here to bring new York cake, it is your brother!

are you as a family? I have never been so proud of anybody in my life,

for the past 15 years, this girl has worked so hard, and has made it into

something so beautiful. Every weekend, everything she does in

life, she amazes me. Do you dance? Salsa and party dancing! My kind of

man! LAUGHTER Thank you very much! I cannot

believe that she has not told me that she is five years old (!) all

this time! You have made it through to black ball as well, as if your

birthday was not exciting enough! Your hands... Stick of rock... Your

hat... How exciting are you to have made it to such a milestone? I have

heard about Blackpool being the place for the ballroom... Everything

about Strictly I'm so excited. You could not ask

for a better dance to be doing. I wanted to feel like that we are at a

proper rock concert. Big, explosive, 60s feel, so it is going

to be feel-good, celebration, of being at Blackpool, I cannot wait.

Thank you so much to your lovely brother, we will share that cake any

minute now. But first of all, I need your help, because, we have a little

job for you. Over the last three weeks we have seen your amazing

the flapper in all of us It got us into the mood of the

dance... I think that there is something stuck on the screen there!

LAUGHTER Even Craig got into the mood

of the dance and gave them a nine. I wondered how you were going to

top your samba, and then you pulled this Charleston

out of the bag! Incredible! This was truly

fantastic, it made me cry, it was so good.

How did it feel on that dance floor compared to

Chicago is my favourite film ever, I had been waiting to do the

Charleston, I found a character I never knew existed and I went with

it! One of those dances where the music... The whole history...

Obviously, the choreography... We need to say thank you to Janet, the

choreographer... Thank you. I love the way that you still say

Charleston in the way that you say it. Charlie... LAUGHTER

The 1920s, that was when the Charleston began.

Now, as you know, flappers were girls who danced

But did you know they were called flappers because they look

like birds flapping their wings when they danced?

How much did you enjoy getting into the flapper character,

Being able to do it in public, fantastic, because I have been

dancing like the film all of this time. Last week, a lot of your

lifts, we did not want to show them, we did not want to give anything

away, but they were incredible. Were they quite scary? Well... They were

scary. He just threw me over his shoulder! A little bit scary, seeing

the floor! Going over his shoulder. The speed of them as well. Do you

watch them back together? Yes, after the show. We find a mistake... I

have got to say that she was good, because I have got to be nice!

LAUGHTER It was good for the Charleston. I

suppose he's just trying to get the best out of you. And also, you did

say, you wanted to better Peter and Janette's Charleston, from the week

before, which you did, highest score of the series! APPLAUSE

How does that feel? There are Charleston was amazing, last, yes, I

feel really excited. I want to do my best here, on Strictly, so, week

eight, 39 point dream come true. I will not say that I'm really lucky

because... She is pretty amazing! She is lucky as well. Saying it with

slight reluctance. Bruno, in particular, was saying how much you

have grown as a dancer and as a performer. That is what is coming

across, can you feel that? Meant so much, as an actress you just want to

get better. This show has brought out a site to me as a performer

which I did not know about, perhaps I was hiding a little bit. If that

can help me in the future with my acting, then, thank you, Strictly.

Since week two, you've never got a lower score than the previous week.

It is difficult, but we need to show improvement every week, so, staying

on 39, that is tough enough, but we will just focus on the competition.

It is nice that we are getting better. Getting better, every week!

find it? He is going to be freezing! If you think the wind is bad in

Manchester, wait until Blackpool, it is freezing! Wait a minute! How

smooth Viennese waltz. That means you can be quite showy. Lifts. How

excited are you about this weekend? Very excited, I always thought that

if I got the black ball, I would like to do a ballroom number, you

cannot get any more ballroom than Blackpool. Ten seconds, how good is

she so far in what you have seen of the Viennese waltz? We started only

today, and we did a little bit of the basics. I do not want to say too

much! She is good. We will remember your Charleston, that is one that we
