It's Friday. Coming up on tonight's show, he's Strictly's head judge

:00:12.:00:16.

and I've got an audience with him. Len Goodman is here. The curtain

:00:16.:00:23.

about to go up on the Broadway special. I'll chat to an anyone ta

:00:23.:00:28.

and Chelsee and Pasha. John Barrowman and the stars of

:00:28.:00:37.

Footloose join us for our first Friday panel. This is Strictly - It

:00:37.:00:47.
:00:47.:01:13.

Live from Television Centre, this is Strictly - It Takes Two. Here's

:01:13.:01:22.

Zoe! Hello. Welcome to Friday's It Takes

:01:22.:01:27.

Two. I don't know if we've mentioned it, but it is a Broadway

:01:27.:01:30.

special tomorrow. Yes, in less than 24 hours, the

:01:30.:01:35.

stage will be set for our 13 remaining couples. Between them

:01:35.:01:40.

they are tackling seven different dances with a lot of props, themes

:01:40.:01:43.

and costumes. It will be a heck of a show. One man they all have to

:01:43.:01:47.

impress is good gd good. His word is final.

:01:47.:01:56.

-- is good good good. -- is Len Goodman. Don't go on like that. You

:01:56.:02:01.

are getting on my wick. There was a tendency for you to be standing

:02:01.:02:09.

there while Ola flew about like a waps at a picnic. It was like a

:02:09.:02:16.

mechanic checking for an oil leak. As Michael Winner would say, "Calm

:02:16.:02:22.

down, dear." I took a crafty look up your dress!

:02:22.:02:28.

Please welcome Strictly's head judge, Mr Len Goodman.

:02:28.:02:34.

Oh, welcome, Sir. Welcome, Sir. Lovely to have you. Lovely to be

:02:34.:02:41.

here. You grace our sofa. We are a tiny bit excited about the Broadway

:02:41.:02:47.

week. What will it bring to the show? I think the big problem is

:02:47.:02:55.

for the professionals. We want to see Broadway. I don't want it to

:02:55.:02:59.

lose, whichever dance they do, the character of the dance. And my

:02:59.:03:07.

worry and fear, because you know I'm the old fuddy-duddy. I want to

:03:07.:03:15.

see elements of the dance. I don't want wham-bam thank you mam - I

:03:15.:03:19.

want to see proper dancing. If they get that right it will be fantastic.

:03:19.:03:23.

Are you impressed with the tricks and the throws? Look, I do

:03:23.:03:28.

understand the professionals have got a challenge. They've got to try

:03:28.:03:35.

and please us judges, especially me, the old technical guy. Also they've

:03:35.:03:40.

got to be flamboyant and impress the viewers and give everybody

:03:40.:03:45.

something to wow about. They have to get that balance - the wow and

:03:45.:03:50.

the how. Get them right and there we go! Then you'll be happy. What

:03:50.:03:54.

about Nancy and Anton. They have struggled a bit. What would your

:03:54.:04:00.

advice be to them? Anton is a superb ballroom dancer. He's

:04:00.:04:07.

dancing a tango. If anyone can dance the tango, it's Anton. He's a

:04:07.:04:14.

wonderful teacher. If I was given Anton advice, I would say, "Anton,

:04:14.:04:20.

don't mess about." A proper dance. It doesn't have to be overly

:04:20.:04:25.

flamboyant, a proper tango, and you'll make me happy. All that

:04:25.:04:35.
:04:35.:04:37.

Aliona was on the show and she apologised for saying she never

:04:38.:04:41.

listened to the dances. What do you think about the pro dancers when

:04:41.:04:46.

they give you back-chat? I don't mind, to a degree. We are the

:04:47.:04:52.

judges and they are on trial. So you can't be the judge at your own

:04:52.:04:56.

trial, really. I do understand. Especially if we are over critical

:04:56.:05:02.

and they say, well they want to defend their celebrities and too

:05:02.:05:07.

rightly. It is about a partnership. Good on them. She did some good

:05:07.:05:13.

things. I've gree with them. Especially if -- a-- I agree with

:05:13.:05:21.

them, especially if old frosty knickers is grumpy. He said some

:05:21.:05:25.

harsh things. Is it healthy for judges to have different opinions?

:05:25.:05:31.

When the show first started and I heard who was judging, I thought

:05:31.:05:37.

"This is madness," you should have four ballroom and Latin judges. I

:05:37.:05:43.

was so wrong. If you had got them, you would have has four of me. Who

:05:43.:05:47.

wants that?! We are all very experienced in our own fields. You

:05:47.:05:53.

look at dance through the eyes of your past, you know? So, I think

:05:53.:06:00.

it's great. You get Craig, who is very Finnic ki about this, that and

:06:01.:06:04.

the other. You have Alesha who talks about the fin niece and the

:06:04.:06:08.

fact that she's been on the show. She knows the process. And then you

:06:08.:06:13.

get me, talking about all the funny footwork thing. So everything is

:06:13.:06:18.

covered. It is a nice balance. you had four the same, then you'd

:06:18.:06:23.

only need one judge. It is great. You are doing with Dancing the

:06:23.:06:27.

Stars in America as well. What is the difference with the show in the

:06:27.:06:33.

States? It is basically the same show. You have the person who is

:06:33.:06:36.

Bruce and the person who is Tess. You have three judges, not four.

:06:36.:06:41.

Other than that, it's very, very similar. I would say the Americans

:06:41.:06:49.

are a little bit more up and down, they are standing up with ovations.

:06:49.:06:53.

So they are standing up and giving it plenty of that, which does give

:06:53.:06:57.

a little bit more electricity in the actual room. But you know, we

:06:57.:07:03.

are British. We have reserve. have a bit of reserve. Now,

:07:03.:07:12.

speaking of Dancing With The Stars we have Julianne Huff. What is she

:07:12.:07:20.

like on the dance floor? Here and her brother, Derek and her partner

:07:20.:07:24.

was Mark. I judged them. They all lived in Britain for a long while,

:07:24.:07:31.

from ten to 16. So I judged them as kids, many, many times. From that

:07:31.:07:39.

age onwards they, I knew they were something special. Julianne is a

:07:39.:07:43.

fantastic dancer. It doesn't matter if it is ballroom, contemporary.

:07:43.:07:50.

She can do it all. She's a singer. She's got.... I hate her! Don't it

:07:50.:07:55.

get on your wick! She's good at everything. She's on the show later

:07:55.:08:03.

on. We've some quick-fire questions for you now. Here we go.

:08:03.:08:10.

Question one: Who surprised you the most? Anita Dobson. Who from, the

:08:10.:08:12.

celebrities has shown the most improvement since the launch show?

:08:12.:08:16.

Robbie Savage. Question three, who do you think

:08:16.:08:21.

will be the dark horse of the competition? Chelsee.

:08:21.:08:25.

Question four - how close are you pulling out the first ten of the

:08:25.:08:30.

series? Not close at all, at the moment! And question five, who gets

:08:30.:08:40.
:08:40.:08:44.

on your wick? Frosty knickers. Thank you so much, Len Goodman.

:08:44.:08:47.

We've been out getting the gossip on another pro dancer. See if you

:08:47.:08:51.

can tell who they are talking about here. Can you guess the dance frer

:08:51.:08:58.

these clues. -- dancer from the clues. She is

:08:58.:09:03.

known as Miss Whiplash. favourite catchphrase is "Shut up."

:09:03.:09:11.

That's all she says. This person is a fan of Michael Buble and me.

:09:11.:09:15.

dancer is very well known for her ballroom dancing.

:09:15.:09:20.

So, who do you think it is? Find out later in the show. Do you know

:09:20.:09:25.

who it is, Len? Of course I know. Don't tell. They are coming up next,

:09:25.:09:30.

but here is a reminder of how Chelsee and Pasha found their Latin

:09:30.:09:40.
:09:40.:09:43.

You have the energy of a wild kitten. It was too full on. Take it

:09:43.:09:46.

calmer. I would rather you go for it, like that, than hold back. I

:09:47.:09:50.

have to commend you for the lifts. They were daring. Overall, for me,

:09:50.:09:58.

it was brilliant. Such a good jump. I am so proud of

:09:58.:10:03.

you. It was nerve-racking. My legs felt like jelly before we went on.

:10:03.:10:12.

That is good for salsa. She gave everything she'd got and nailed it.

:10:12.:10:17.

Thank you. Thank you. No, thank you. Right!

:10:17.:10:22.

I thought she might lump him then, please welcome Chelsee and Pasha.

:10:22.:10:27.

Can I say, you both look absolutely adorable. Did you hear that, Len

:10:28.:10:33.

said he thought you were the dark horse in this competition? I am

:10:33.:10:36.

surprised. That's really encouraging. He thinks you might go

:10:36.:10:42.

a long, long way. You have a mad schedule at the moment. You are

:10:42.:10:46.

doing Waterloo Road and squeezing in training for this in the

:10:46.:10:51.

evenings, how are you finding it? am shattered. It is so tiring. I am

:10:51.:10:58.

finishing at 7pm filming. Then I'm going to rehearsal until 10.30-11pm.

:10:58.:11:04.

It has took it right out of me. she giving it her all? The good

:11:04.:11:10.

quality she has is she goes for it, no matter what, no matter how tired

:11:10.:11:14.

she is. A top gold star for you. Karen was on the show, and she said

:11:14.:11:19.

she's very impressed with your choreography. You are making it

:11:20.:11:23.

quite tough for Chelsee, aren't you? You are pushing her hard.

:11:23.:11:28.

trying to get it up to the level where it is challenging for her, so

:11:28.:11:32.

she improves every week and not boring for the audience. Do you

:11:32.:11:35.

think, you are doing ambitious leaps and steps. How are you

:11:35.:11:40.

finding that, Chelsee? I am out of my depth. It's too hard for me. It

:11:40.:11:45.

is too hard. I'm having trouble. Do you know what, that's part of

:11:45.:11:49.

the thing we love about you. We see you training during the week. It

:11:49.:11:52.

looks like you are struggling. Come Saturday night, you pull it out the

:11:52.:11:57.

bag. He's like if you can't do it, you've got to fake it. I'm trying

:11:57.:12:01.

to fake it. It is hard. He's pushing me to my limits, which is

:12:01.:12:04.

good. How are you getting on. You are training in Manchester. That is

:12:04.:12:09.

where you are filming. How are you getting on with the lin go? I keep

:12:09.:12:14.

teaching him some, don't I? Just a little bit. At least now I can

:12:14.:12:20.

understand. I cannot speak it. I say certain things to him, he

:12:20.:12:25.

gets what I'm saying, don't I? Are you sure he does? We've had a

:12:25.:12:31.

look at you in training. Sometimes things get Lost in Translation.

:12:31.:12:39.

Every time I say something to Pasha, he'll be like, "What, what - I

:12:39.:12:49.
:12:49.:12:53.

A nana! It aiz a good 'un.

:12:53.:13:03.
:13:03.:13:06.

What is that? Don't be draft. What Fussy.

:13:06.:13:12.

What is fossy? Can you send me over e-mail the same thing? Honestly, I

:13:12.:13:18.

don't just understand what she says!

:13:18.:13:24.

That is so glorious. We thought you were talking about Bob Fossy, it

:13:24.:13:32.

was fussy. This week, cha-cha-cha, Broadway theme - how are you

:13:32.:13:37.

finding it? Easy easier than the past two weeks. I haven't got it.

:13:37.:13:41.

Because we've come out of salsa which is the same kind of dance.

:13:41.:13:47.

I've come from that straight into another Latin one, so.... Shall we

:13:47.:13:55.

listen to what you're dancing to. It is from Jersey Boys. You didn't

:13:55.:14:02.

know what it was from. You had to talk to your Nana. That is in

:14:02.:14:12.

grandma, not as in banana. Didn't she tell you about Jersey boy?

:14:12.:14:17.

- Jersey Boys. My gran told me. Does she approve, Chelsee? I am

:14:17.:14:25.

sure she wants to dance with him. She loves him. If we notice

:14:25.:14:30.

something different about Chelsee on the show tomorrow it is because

:14:30.:14:35.

your Nana has slipped in. Look at her dance slippers. Will

:14:35.:14:41.

they make an appearance tomorrow night? I don't think Pasha will let

:14:41.:14:46.

me wear them. Third on the leaderboard last week - can you be

:14:46.:14:52.

nearer the top? We will try our best. We will try our best.

:14:52.:14:56.

hours, 40 minutes and 14 seconds until the live show. We wish you

:14:56.:15:01.

both all the best. Chelsee and Pasha.

:15:01.:15:05.

As we wait in the wings for the Broadway special, what are you

:15:05.:15:13.

making of the show so far? Here's points of view.

:15:13.:15:18.

I've just watched Robbie Savage on It Takes Two with his hair pulled

:15:18.:15:23.

back into a pony tail, please tell him to cut his hair, he would look

:15:23.:15:31.

so much more handsome. They did a great job with the foxtrot last

:15:31.:15:41.

week. I thought Alex did great when she kissed brun know -- Bruno.

:15:41.:15:46.

I would like to see the judges dance, please.

:15:46.:15:51.

Natalie I am hoping to get to dance with Len Goodman in this studio

:15:51.:15:56.

very soon. Don't forget to call us over the weekend to let us know

:15:56.:16:00.

what you think. The phone line is always open. Don't hold back. We

:16:00.:16:07.

will play you some of the best ones on Monday. Call us on:

:16:07.:16:13.

Calls cost 10p from a BT land line. Other networks may vary. Calls from

:16:13.:16:16.

mobiles will cost considerably more. Now time to welcome a panel of

:16:16.:16:20.

guests who know their way around a dance floor and a man who knows a

:16:20.:16:25.

thing or two about musicals. Welcome John Barrowman and the

:16:25.:16:31.

special guests of the new Footloose movie, Julianne Hough and Kenny

:16:31.:16:41.
:16:41.:16:49.

What an entrance! What an entrance! You are my first Friday panel. Go

:16:49.:16:55.

easy with me. I am so excited for you. Thank goodness you are here.

:16:55.:16:59.

You have won Dancing With The Stars, America's version of Strictly Come

:16:59.:17:05.

Dancing. Twice. Back to back. very impressed. Who out of our

:17:05.:17:09.

couples has stood out for you? There's been a couple. I watched

:17:09.:17:18.

Chelsee and Holly and Jason. Those were the three. Also the astrologer.

:17:18.:17:24.

Russell He is fantastic. I love him. Chelsee has the fire and Holly is

:17:24.:17:29.

technical. They all, you spotted good bits in all of them. Kenny

:17:29.:17:35.

very exciting for us. You will perform with Julianne. What will

:17:35.:17:42.

you do? We're doing a duet to one of the songs from Footloose. It is

:17:42.:17:52.
:17:52.:17:52.

a remake of Holding out For A Hero. You are the new Kevin Bacon.

:17:52.:17:59.

John.... I will be dancing in the living room. You remember it the

:17:59.:18:06.

first time around. Shut up! It's a Broadway show. How jealous are you,

:18:06.:18:10.

John? I am jealous in the way that I got to do the Christmas show. I

:18:10.:18:19.

won the Christmas show - I thought I'd drop that in - me and my

:18:19.:18:23.

quickstep. I would love to do the series but I don't have the time.

:18:23.:18:28.

That is why I am an avenue individual watcher. Let's look then

:18:28.:18:33.

at all our couples. First Audley and Natalie. This weekend they are

:18:33.:18:38.

doing the quickstep. What do you think Audley needs to work on

:18:38.:18:43.

before tomorrow? He's got the smile. He's got the sexiest smile ever. I

:18:43.:18:53.

don't know, he's got big feet. It looks like you. When you have

:18:53.:18:59.

Masai feet, what is the key to look -- When you have massive feet what,

:19:00.:19:04.

is the key to looking like a dancer? This is what they are

:19:04.:19:10.

dancing to. # It's too darn hot #

:19:10.:19:14.

Very sexy. A good rhythm song. Audley, surprisingly enough he

:19:14.:19:22.

might be flat-footed, but he has great rhythm. He did a Michael

:19:22.:19:26.

Jackson number. The first week. think he'll be OK with this. One of

:19:26.:19:29.

these things, in selling it with Broadway, sometimes if you cannot

:19:29.:19:33.

get the hands or feet right, the best thing they tell you is keep

:19:33.:19:38.

smiling and moving. Give us a show of how that is. Tinge! That is how

:19:38.:19:47.

you do it, ladies and gentlemen. Now they are doing the Viennese

:19:47.:19:52.

Wales. They are listening to Queen. You have been on tour with Justin

:19:52.:19:56.

Timberlake and pussy cat dolls. What would your tip be to Dan to

:19:56.:20:00.

bring out the best? You have to match it with the attitude. Maybe a

:20:00.:20:05.

little more than that tape was. That is rehearsals. You save it for

:20:05.:20:11.

the stage. Feed off the audience. Everyone loves that song. How will

:20:11.:20:17.

he channel his inner Freddie Mercury? Eye liner. Eye liner and

:20:17.:20:23.

hair spray. You have two cans on tonight says she! Robbie and ol la

:20:23.:20:30.

will be doing the -- Ola will be doing the tango. When you won, both

:20:30.:20:35.

times sportsmen. I had athletes. What do they bring? The aggression

:20:35.:20:40.

and the work ethic and they work harder than anybody. So Robbie's

:20:40.:20:47.

doing tango. Yes. I think so. By the way he's a hot little mama.

:20:47.:20:53.

wears more hair spray than any of us. His hair is like thick. He had

:20:54.:20:59.

a flip going on last week. That is a consensus. They are dancing to

:20:59.:21:05.

this. # Give me, give me a man after mied

:21:05.:21:11.

night # How do we -- after midnight How do we bring out the ab ba?

:21:11.:21:14.

He'll look fine. I don't know, the problem I get

:21:14.:21:24.
:21:24.:21:26.

with him, his legs don't move as ello gapbtly. He's -- elegantly.

:21:26.:21:31.

is a footballer, so he'll be quick. That is all we have time for. That

:21:31.:21:38.

is such a shame. One name from each of you. Who will lift the

:21:39.:21:44.

glitterball? Anita. Audley. They will go into an envelope. I

:21:44.:21:48.

will let you know if you win a prize at the end of the series.

:21:48.:21:53.

What's the prize. Thank you for joining us. John Barrowman,

:21:53.:22:02.

Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald. I think that was a good first

:22:02.:22:05.

Friday panel. Earlier we set you a teaser.

:22:05.:22:15.
:22:15.:22:15.

Who was everyone talking about? Did you guess. You guessed it, it's me.

:22:15.:22:22.

Miss Whiplash herself, Erin Boag. I'll be in the studio next store

:22:22.:22:27.

where I hope to talk with Anita and Robin. What is it like to take to

:22:27.:22:30.

the Strictly dance floor and perform live in front of the

:22:30.:22:36.

nation? I still get clamy palms thinking about it. For our couples

:22:36.:22:41.

it's the most intense 90 seconds of their lives.

:22:41.:22:47.

Performing live on Strictly is an unreal feeling. I feel sick. I feel

:22:47.:22:53.

like I get hot and cold. Sweaty palms. I kind of lose my mind. I'm

:22:53.:22:59.

not in my body when I'm doing the dance live, at all. It is terror.

:22:59.:23:02.

Then you have to concentrate and hold that concentration through the

:23:02.:23:08.

90 seconds. It is like a first date. You have the nerves and the

:23:08.:23:12.

butterflies. You know you'll go out and perform or you'll not get a

:23:12.:23:22.

second date. It is tuch. It is like you have to -- Tough. It is like

:23:22.:23:26.

you have to step on a train at 100 miles per hour. If you miss it you

:23:26.:23:31.

never get the moment back. It is so encompassing that it is difficult

:23:31.:23:35.

to be aware of anything else. Enjoyment is like in another

:23:35.:23:40.

country. It's like being an athlete. It's

:23:40.:23:45.

one minute and 30 seconds. If you jump the gun, you are out of the

:23:45.:23:49.

World Championships. Full stop. bigest fear is forgetting the steps.

:23:49.:23:56.

The best way to deal with it is finding confidence in your ability

:23:56.:24:00.

to remember. Being so scared to the point you are shaking. You think

:24:00.:24:06.

everyone can see me. My face looks awkward because I am so nervous.

:24:06.:24:13.

Petrified. All I can feel is Ola squeezing my hand.

:24:13.:24:20.

Go slower. Slow down. The most excruciating, the most nerve-

:24:20.:24:25.

racking, but the most wonderful thing I've ever experienced in the

:24:25.:24:30.

whole of my television career. It's 90 seconds and the music goes

:24:30.:24:33.

away. Then we sort of go, what happened? I don't remember any of

:24:33.:24:43.
:24:43.:24:45.

it. You are not there. It is like Oh, look, a giant handbag. It might

:24:45.:24:51.

be a clue. We're in the studio. This is where

:24:52.:24:56.

the script is done. We could be naugtdy and change all the words. -

:24:56.:25:01.

- naughty and change all the words. Look, Dan, hello Dan. You are

:25:02.:25:04.

looking calm. You not worried about tomorrow at all.

:25:04.:25:09.

I am, now you have reminded me. Brendan, you are not worried about

:25:09.:25:19.
:25:19.:25:26.

The first time you've done the jive on the studio. How has it gone?

:25:26.:25:32.

bad. Not bad. Happy Bobby. We like that. Any niggles or anything you

:25:32.:25:36.

have to straighten out for tomorrow's show? The direction of

:25:36.:25:42.

where we're dancing on the floor. It is bigger than our training room.

:25:42.:25:46.

Everything feels bigger. We have to mark it around. Do you get long

:25:46.:25:50.

enough on this big floor before the real show? No. It's what it is.

:25:50.:25:57.

That's all you get. You've got a great tune. Last week,

:25:57.:26:02.

your salsa put Alesha in the mood for cocktails. You are dancing from

:26:02.:26:09.

hair spray. What kind of mood? retro. And it is, has it been easy

:26:09.:26:19.

to learn? It's stamina really. As Leanne said, who was in the

:26:19.:26:25.

original Hair spray, it's about focus. She wanted 50% technique and

:26:25.:26:32.

50% to marry. And the other good thing is, because it's Broadway,

:26:32.:26:37.

you've had a lot of West End experience, does it help you?

:26:37.:26:43.

helps present the character. Usually we get longer. Just a bit,

:26:43.:26:48.

but down to the breaks. Have you given Robin any tips? He does not

:26:48.:26:55.

need tips. He needs holding back. Stop it! Your outfit last week was

:26:55.:27:02.

incredible. What is your jiving costume like? It is very '60s, very

:27:02.:27:07.

Hairspray. It is traditional '60s. Last week you were compared to a

:27:07.:27:17.
:27:17.:27:18.

barking dal maytion. What role will you -- Dalmation.

:27:18.:27:24.

I will be the dobber man. Are you loving the experience?

:27:24.:27:31.

adore it. Everything about it. 100%. Will you do us a favour? Will you

:27:31.:27:38.

give us a sneaky preview of your jive? Go on! Give them some

:27:38.:27:43.

encouragement. Especially for all of you It Takes Two fans watching

:27:43.:27:53.
:27:53.:28:29.

at home, here you go, a sneaky look Oh, utterly fabulous. I can't wait.
