Episode 5 The Voice: Louder on Two

Hello, it's me. We are backstage, on the hunt for this Marx will.i.am on

the show today with his team, Jermain and Sophie May. Also on the

show, celebrity fans, Richard Osmon and Alexander Armstrong from

Pointless looking at the performances. I catch up with Marvin

and Emma, see how they are getting on. Hold it, wait, it's a clue!

Look! I can almost swell him. Will come to mama. This is The Voice

Louder On Two! This way! -- smell him.

Hello. Welcome to The Voice Louder On Two, Friday the day before the

semi-finals, everybody's busy making the set look fancy for tomorrow.

I've looked at the acts rehearsing, tomorrow's show will be incredible.

There's no fast pass, so if you want to save your favourite, you need to

vote for your team and you can register online to do that for free.

In a minute, we'll catch up with the coach who puts the boom, boom pow

into The Voice. A few other reasons why we love will.i.am.

He's wicked, everything about him. I like his music, his style. I was

like wow... He's dapper. Experimental with his music, he's

not afraid to push boundaries. I trust him and what he says on the

voice. You got cool little boots. Got a lot of energy. You get a good

sense of humour out of him. Legendary status. My mum likes

will.i.am, the made-up words. That's charisazy! Watch out terminators.

He's funny, down-to-earth, realistic. Ie I would love to be on

Will's team if I were to do it. I like how you guys flipped that

around. It was really doh! Make some noise or drop a beat for

will.i.am! Hey, gorgeous man. Looks beautiful! Looks beautiful! Got to

get the angle right. You look amazing. How have rehearsals gone

this week? Are you a happy boy? I'm happy. We... I'm real happy.

Nervous, for the team, but I'm happy. I know! Even you get nervous

about it, you know how it all goes. Have you checked out the competition

and seen the others? How's everybody looking? Right now it's not, you

know, I don't want to freak out and pay attention to like Kylie's team

and Ricky's team because... He's being Tweeted live on hair! My steam

still competing against one another, so I'm just, you know, this is at

this point in time in the competition, you always get

emotional because you get real connected with your team and you

care about them and their aspirations and winding down and

people going home, it gets kind of sad. You lost Iesher last week and

we absolutely adore her, but your team is very, very Strong indeed.

Jermain and Sophie May have such different styles. Was that a

conscious decision? What? The fact they're styles are so different? No.

I think it's just in the blinds. The things that really get me that I

turn for, you know, Sophie's style is unique unique and haunting and

enchanting because she has thissiester world jazz -- this

yester world jazz influence and she executes it flawlessly so I turn and

fell noomplt Jermain has this old soul, gospel, you know, youth, pop,

R B thing going on. A lot! We love the fact the nation is adopting your

words and my children won't let me say fresh on TV because they get

embarrassed but the whole nation is in touch with you and we thought

we'd get in touch with a Great British wordsmith, Gyles Brandreth

to help us interpret some of your wonderful says. Have a look at this.

Doh. This is doh. I haven't said dope that many times. Dope is a

slang word for narcotics, as in a horse trainer who dopes his animal

in the hope of fixing the race. Dope is has a meaning to apply vanish.

When Will refers to someone as dope, he means they are wonderful,

amazing, marvellous, as in my case, look at this Bohemian vase, the

dope! Pure dope! Thank you, Gyles. Did he get it

right? Yes, he's dope! He is. He's going to be so chuffed

with that. What are you making of Ricky as a new coach, his first

year, is he doing well? Fantastic. His team, I'm a little afraid of his

team depending on who goes through on Saturday. If someone goes

through, that we are afraid of, and then depending on who goes through,

then I'm going to make sure that I counsel the remaining person of my

team on how it will process. I think we know what he means. Lots of your

fans were saying in that film how you like to experiment with

different styles. Take a classic song and your own will.i.am twist on

He's got a tremendous voice. He's like a baritone and a tenor wrapped

into one. Pf Amazing. We got your famous Wooo at

the end. Yes, we love that. Will, who is getting your fast pass

through? I'm taking Jermain through. You belong on the stage. You looked

perfect, sounded beautiful and you have this natural elegance.

Please welcome back will.i.am and Jermain and Sophie May.

We have waited a long time to see the two of you. Great skill last

weekend. How did it feel to go through? Are you still on a high?

Definitely. Still on a high. Keeping on the high for... What? ! You don't

do that. Energy is staying up there for the semi-finals and same with

Sophie. We are going to push to the semi-finals. It's tomorrow! Not to

panic or anything like that... Jermain, it was a big ask for you,

it had go off, kick off the first lives, yes, look at that. Then you

got the fast pass and your face when you got that, you looked right

Royally gob-smacked? I was. You know, I'm surrounded by amazing

singers, Sophie May and Iesher and I didn't hear Will say my name and it

was like "what? ! ". I'm so grateful to open the first live show was

amazing. Sophie May, how hard was that wait for the public vote? Were

you pacingly tense? I was stood there thinking, I'm going home and

then they said my name and it was like "what? ! " My face was a

picture. Did you enjoy the dancing up there? I had so much fun. The

best experience of my life and I thought, even if I go home, I can

say I've performed live on British television. It was absolutely

fantastic. I had so much fun. You were say, Will, in rehearsals that

you wanted Sophie to superify it. What did you mean by that? Sophie is

- I really like the way Sophie sings - she's the kind of person that, if

she wants to put out a record and the songs matched her aesthetic, I

would be her biggest fan and buy her stuff, so she put the Sophie in Moon

Dance yesterday, or the other day. So now we are sitting here with

Sophie on the sofa... LAUGHTER It's really nice. I love

you more than I thought I did before. Jermain, how are you

prepared for the semi-final? Do you feel calmer this week or are you

equally as terrified? How does it feel? The nerves are there, the

excitement is there, I feel the same as I felt for the quarter-finals but

less nervous because we have gone through the live shows already and

so I nose how it feels. It didn't feel live, I felt like another

rehearsal, another performance, but I'm looking forward to it. How were

the rehearsals today, by the way? You have just literally come from

rehearsals? Any niggles, anything you need to iron out or is it all

going OK? At the point I'm pretty confident with my song and just

really excited to go on stage and perform, I can't wait, it's going to

be so different. Let's talk about what songs you are doing tomorrow.

# Without t you... # That's all you can have! You can't

have any more than that, we don't want to give too much away. Will,

are we going to see Jermain's full vocal range? So today at rehearsals,

he was rocking it and I was watching it and then I ran up, I didn't want

to be stopping it, so I waited until it stopped and then I was like "you,

Jermain watch, Fuad some of this" and then he did it again, he smacked

it and attacked it. Oh, my goodness. Brilliant. Sophie May, I know you

are very excited about the song that you are doing. I am. You are doing

the Royals by Lords. Let us hear it Sophie-ified!

# No postcode envy, but there are bloodstains ball gowns trashing in

the bathroom... # You are making it look so

effortless. Brilliant. Will, are you pleased with how that is going there

for Sophie? Man, oh man. I'm downloading this right because you

can download it. Yes, you can go on the website, yes. You can download

these songs, both Jermain's version of Without You and Sophie's version

of Royals. I'm so freaking excited about tomorrow's show. Yes. So am I!

I'm so excited, seriously. So am I as well. Not only have you had all

of this, you have been having some cooking tips from Will. Sophie May?

I'm horrendous at cooking. It's not going well at all. Scars on her

hand! What's he taught you, cooking-wise? Well, you were like

saying to me, make some mar... Marinara. Yes. I've just been dog

pasta! You've had some dance lessons this week. I was crying with

laughter at this. Next week we are going to see it. Listen, good luck

APPLAUSE First year on The Voice, how much

fun has it been? It's been so much fun. Amazing. Right from the minute

we found out we got it up until this point, this afternoon works on it,

all the contestants and you coming on board, it's so much fun. But they

are all incredible, aren't they, who's the naughtiest? It's so hard

to pick, do you know what I mean? Yes. They are just another level all

of them. Sometimes it's a certain sock that gets you -- song that gets

you. Who are the naughtiest? Lee and Jamie, the two naughty boys, you can

see the cheeky glint in their eyes. Like Joey and Chandler? Yes. How

have the two of you been getting on? He's a nightmare I can't stand this

woman ever, horrendous. He doesn't stop all the time. It's always me,

me, me! How do you two prepare for the show? Do you wax each other's

eyebrows? Marv has a hair cut every day. We audition every day. Seven

days solid we were there. Every day I knock on the door when we got

there and I would go, all right, Marv and I'd he'd go, I'm having a

hair cut every day. It is incredibly neat? No, my barber is always with

me. How much does it cost for a trim, near little bit? It depends.

If I go to a shop, it's cheaper than him coming to me, but, you know,

sometimes I'm busy. ?4. 50. Exactly. You are paying too much, I'll do it

for three quid! Marvin, you have been through a show just like this.

How much can you empathise with what they are doing through, have you

been able to give them advice? Of course, give them advice and I guess

the most important thing with me being here I suppose is that for

them being on the stage and the nerves as well, last week for

example they were all so nervous and I'm like, get the first line out the

way and the performance will go from there. I guess little bits like that

I can give which is always helpful. Any gossip from today? How are they?

I saw Jermain who said he'd been accused by a newspaper recently this

week of looking at my top. Oh, really? ! Looking down my top.

Really? I swear it wasn't him. But he's quite tall. They caught me mid

blink! Thing is though, we have all had a look down your top, so I don't

blame him. The hole in my dressing room wall, I put it there! I'm

loving where this is going. Good luck tomorrow semi-finals day.

Here to give thoughts and opinions on the upcoming performances, it's

Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.

Lovely Socks, beautiful. They look like I've really worn statement

Socks.Socks. - love them. Richard, you are a huge

fan of The Voice. Have you enjoyed the series and are you happy with

the final eight? Amazing final eight. Sally is connecting with

viewers but Jermain I think, that's who I'd secretly like to win. He's

up there, that's official. You have got a fabulous voice yourself? Bless

you. I didn't know you were trained baritone? Yes, classically trained,

yes. You might have gone into the wrong studio. What if you were faced

with the four coaches, which would you choose? It's a really difficult

question because they are all so excellent, but of course Ricky. Yes,

fine, thank you, just leave it at that! Let's have a look at what the

acts are performing this weekend, solos and songs with coaches. First

off, team Kylie and Lee, singing Strong by London Grammar, here he is

in rehearsal on Tuesday. A hard song to sing that one.

Beautiful. Yes. Everyone says he has a very unique voice. What do you

like about his voice, Richard? Perfect for songs like that, because

you hear all the standards that people with belt out, but you give

him a song like that that a lot of people couldn't handle and I'm

looking forward to that. Fantastic. I'm guessing everyone must have said

this all the time, but the Jeff Buckley and Matthew Bellamy there,

there's so much interesting texture there. Matt Bellamy? Yes. Call him

by his proper name, Matthew Bellamy. And Geoffrey Buckley. For team

Kylie, it's Jamie singing I Can' t Make You Love Me. Let's take a look.

"Don't patronise". He's looking good there. Could this get him into the

final? It's going to be a tough contest. What do you think? I like

Jamie, he reminds me of Markder den-Smith actually. Yes.

DDuerden-Smith. He's got Bizzi, phenomenal additional range. Range,

up and down? Yes. That's the word, yes. This could be good. Look

forward to seeing it. All right. We are going to move on to Team Ricky

who would be your choice. Christina Marie is singing Bang, bang, as done

by David Guetta. Here she is in rehearsals on Wednesday.

# Bang, bang, you shot me down, bang, bang...

What happens next? You will have to find out. She's very emotional, was

in tears after the show last week but is incredibly powerful. Is this

going to be a hit for her? Amazing voice, but all of her emotions are

so close to the surface, which could be useful. At the moment that's hard

when you have a public vote and you are showing so much of yourself. Her

voice, she should definitely get through. Do you think she needs to

rein it in? You can't, you have to be yourself, but whether that's

something that will endear him to the public, I don't know. Imagine

her in two or three years' time, amazing. Could be huge. Let talk

about Chris as well, he's singing Smile by Nat King Cole.

# Smile though your heart is breaking... #

Another very moving performance. Yes. What do you think Alexander? I

think he's got a lovely tone, Chris. His mid range is really full of

texture. Slightly Will Young actually. Again, I think he's going

to have an uphill battle I think. Why? Just because he's got some

fireworks on either side of him I think. Reremind me of a young Mark

Duerden-Smith. Time to get physical. Business Brazil is performing George

Benson's Everything Must Change. -- Bizzi is performing Everything

Must Change. Let's take a look.

# Everything must change, nothing stays the same...

HH Richard, is this what you want to

hear Bizzi singing? He's got a beautiful voice. I love it when the

soul singers go country. And the soul is fine, doing a Glen Campbell

or Kenny Rogers, or Everything Must Go, bethe Manic, instead of

Everything Must Change. Maybe next week, what a twist!

Team Tom also Sally Barker, favourite of yours, is singing the

Waterboys, Whole Of The Moon, lets's take a look.

# You just stayed in your room, I saw the Cruzzent... #

-- Crescent. We know Richard is a massive fan of

Sally's. Do you think this is the right song? Perfect. Absolutely

wonderful. Again, Tom will be tearing up wiping his chin at the

end of this. That's lovely. Yes, you just relax and let go when Sally

sings, don't you? Yes, you know she's not going to mess it up? Yes.

Like syrup in your ears. Yes. Team Will now. Jermain is singing

David Guetta's and Usher's Without You. Let's take a look.

Baritone and tenor. How tricky is that to do both? He has this amazing

tenor up there which floats around really beautifully. From nowhere

comes the kind of Luther Vandross, the proper, like he can just think

about going low, he has a whole new gear there, it's like a whole new

register, fabulous. Richard, do you like Jermain? A big

Jermain fan. Big week for David Guetta. I loved Jermain dog

Treasure, I thought that was terrific -- doing Treasure as well.

That will be an absolute ban stormer. Sophie May, great song,

she's singing Royals by Lorde. Have a look.

# And I'm not proud of that, in the torn up town, no postcode envy... #

Those were the days, weren't they? ! You were there. She's giving it the

whole retro jazz feel. Richard, does she suit that song? She has that

female Mark Duerden-Smith thing going on. Fantastic. Whether she's a

vote winner I don't know, that's tricky, but she's brilliant and what

she does and what a lovely song to sing, lovely to hear someone doing

that. You like Sophie May? I do. I like a bit of variety now though.

Something slightly different? Yes, surprise us a bit.

Countryish? That would be fantastic. The final is looming.
