People say in order to steel your nerves, you just look out in the crowd and picture everybody naked.

I just think these are my friends, not enemies. They didn't come to shoot me. They came to hear me sing.

She's a little nervous, but still has all the confidence she needs to pull it off.

'From Tennessee to Tonight's The Night, dream delivered.

'Now here's a dream you've never seen before.'

I'm in London to surprise Helena Lockwood.

She thinks she's here to celebrate her sister's birthday.

She doesn't know that we've provided a very interesting tour guide and she's the main attraction.

In fact, Helena has been the main attraction since she was a little girl.

Friend Richard thinks her singing talent would have led to big things.

Helena has always had the ambition, I think, to be a West End performer.

She was top student in Music, Dance and Drama at school.

Helena was studying at university in Carlisle on a Performing Arts course,

then all of a sudden, she started developing voice problems.

'Doctors discovered nodules on Helena's throat and she had to undergo surgery to remove them.

'The surgery scarred her vocal cords which could end her singing career.

'Her dad Philip remembers her reaction.'

When the nodules problem came, it devastated her.

It was three years from having the operation before she sang again in public,

which was at our 25th wedding anniversary.

'Despite her own problems, Helena works tirelessly for others.

'Here's Barbara from the charity organisation GFS.'

The Girls Friendly Society works with girls and young women.

We have projects that help with unmarried mothers

and Helena is now a trustee of that society.

'Helena's sister Sarah thinks she's in for the shock of her life.'

She hasn't got a clue. She absolutely hasn't. I don't know how she hasn't got a clue.

I think she's just going to be blown away.

'Helena thinks she's going on a London bus tour to celebrate her sister's birthday.

'But this bus has hidden cameras and comes with an over-enthusiastic, but under-experienced tour guide.'

But I think being involved in a show as prestigious as this has gone a long way

I understand these dreams because I've had them myself.

When I was young, I wanted to sing in the West End. I dreamed of performing with my favourite star

and I really wanted to fly through the air at a ridiculously high altitude with no safety net.

Hold on a minute! That's not me. You're on your own.

Some dreams really are sky high like this heart stopping moment from last year

with 79-year-old adrenaline junkie John Wilkins. John has no fear

as his daredevil stunts raise money for Bristol Children's Hospital.

He's skydived, abseiled and bungee jumped his way to raising over £100,000,

but John's daughter told us there's one stunt he still hasn't tried.

Dad's done so many really wild things, but one thing he really wants to do is to do wing walking.

It would be so wonderful to see him where he can enjoy the thrill and know it was a reward for him.

Before we gave him his wing walking surprise, we lured him to our hidden cameras with a web of lies.

My daughter said we had to go down to Weston-super-Mare for a photo shoot.

I thought, "OK. I've done it before." And as I came round the side of the wheel,

I saw the BBC crew there and John Barrowman.

"What on earth is this all about?"

'Well, this is all about a totally fictitious photo shoot and my totally real phobia of heights!

'What could possibly go wrong?'

-Hello?

-Somebody's speaking to us.

-'We're having some technical difficulties.'

He said he was afraid of heights. I said, "Really? Are you having me on, John?" He said, "No, no."

He said, "What can you do?" I said basically don't look down.

-Oh(!)

-It's not a long way.

-No! Don't look down!

'He phoned up his agent.'

I said, "John is really frightened up here."

-The poor man's distressed.

-Ohh!

Michelle? Are you going to call them and find out what's going on?

-She hung up on me!

'So we switched the wheel back on and got John back to earth.'

I know all about your charity work. I also know you have a dream.

-I've been told you want to wing walk.

-Yes!

-I'm going to make sure you can wing walk.

-A week later and John joined these magnificent women in their flying machines.

-But was he having second thoughts?

-Still up for it?

-I'm terrified!

I'm only joking. I'm up for that. I might do a few moves of my own.

And then it was time for 79-year-old John to take to the skies

for the most breathtaking aerial stunt of them all - a loop the loop!

I went up in the plane and then the pilot said, "As you seem to be OK with it,

"we'll give you two loops."

It went into a loop where you're completely upside down.

-The G-forces are quite tremendous.

-He's not kidding!

John experienced an amazing 4 Gs of gravity - more than astronauts face going into space.

The second time we did a loop,

we came out of it near the hangar where the family were. Everybody was waving and shouting.

Being nominated by my daughter and family was an incredible thing

and I felt overwhelmed by it. So I have been inspired and I shall go on

to go further and to do more jumps and more abseils this year and into the following years

until such times as I fall over!

We're staying up in the air with a look back at how I surprised sky-diving dreamer Karen Martin.

Last year student manager Karen was treated for breast cancer.

Her boss Peter remembers how Karen still put others first and never let the condition drag her down.

To lose your hair publicly in front of 1,300 students

and still come in and support them and put their needs first is just amazing.

She's an inspiration to all of us in school.

'Karen's now been given the all clear and it was time for me to make her sky-diving dream come true.'

She's arriving. She just pulled up.

-I hope she's ready for a house guest. ..Hi, Karen.

We'll freefall at approximately 120 miles an hour.

This is my lifelong dream. It's something I thought wasn't going to happen. I'm worried about landing.

I think I'll end up on my bottom and I really want to be graceful.

Since John turned up in my living room, it's been one big rollercoaster. I can't wait.

First thing in the morning, I'm like a zombie, but a lot weirder looking.

The old brain cells are very slow to kick in. So for this next surprise,

it took just a little while for our dreamer to catch up.

Andy Stratford is a loving father and husband who lives life to the full,

but in 2004 his family's world turned upside down after he had a near-fatal motorbike crash.

Wife Heather and friend Barry explain.

He was thrown 30, 40 foot in the air and was flown by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital

It was a very, very nasty accident.

We were just devastated.

Andy was lucky to be alive and was told he may never walk again,

but after six months in a wheelchair he got back on his feet.

Andy's always been quite a positive person, but since the accident he has more of a hunger for life

and he does a lot more for people.

Not content with just walking again, Andy started running to help those who helped him.

He's run a couple of half-marathons for the London air ambulance.

And after his accident, Andy discovered a new passion.

He loves his golf. He's absolutely mad about his golf.

Golf's played a big part in his recovery.

For all the support Andy's given others, Heather wants his dream to come true.

I've arranged for him to tee off with his all-time hero, legendary golfer Colin Montgomerie.

It will blow his mind. He's one of the big golfers.

To be meeting such a legend, he'll be amazed.

'So imagine this. It's a ridiculous time in the morning and you've just come home from your nightshift.

'You just want to crawl under your duvet, but there's a camera crew on your doorstep!

'If your brain isn't already fried, there's a 15-foot-tall John Barrowman shouting at ya!

'Welcome to Andy's morning.' Andy? Andy Stratford, I'm talking to you.

-This is a bit weird, isn't it? You're all the way over there

and I'm on this big screen.

-I'm John Barrowman and I'm going to make your dream come true.

Time to wedge in a golf lesson from Colin. How cool is that?

If we go weaker with the left and a little bit weaker with the right,

it's amazing how that club will come through in a squarer way.

It will feel ridiculously uncomfortable, right?

Wow. It's unbelievable to meet him in person. I won't be washing this hand for a while!

Andy, listen, has your game really improved since you had the meeting?

-Definitely. I haven't lost my lucky ball.

Now also all those people that were on that course, you saw them there

and they thought they were getting something special, but when you got it, how did it make you feel?

I'm still reliving the dream now. To be honest, John, it's amazing.

It all happened so quick. I'll remember it for the rest of my life.

-Did you ever think that would happen?

-You just don't believe dreams happen to normal people.

Well, we like making them happen. Heather, Andy puts himself out before everybody else.

-Was it nice to see him getting something just for himself?

-Oh, it was brilliant, yeah.

He surprises me constantly so it was great to do that. We can call it quits now!

I love musical theatre and we have plenty of West End dreamers who can't wait to experience the magic.

We're only to happy to make it happen. Here's where the performing dream becomes a dream performance.

Last year we stopped off in South Wales to surprise Rebecca Bull,

a teacher who inspires all her pupils.

Rebecca's great with all her pupils, but with me individually she's boosted my confidence.

She's always been there for me and made me believe in myself more.

She goes further with us than any other teacher and most other people as well.

She believes in us.

'Rebecca expected a drive-through lunch with her friend Kyle, but she wasn't expecting me!'

Do you want a surprise with that? Or would you like fries with that?

I remember getting to the drive-though and...

'I couldn't really hear what was being said properly.'

It's been a stressful day for me!

I felt very sorry for the person who was taking the order. They hadn't worked there long.

They needed training and support.

Now let's stay in the West End for college lecturer Paul Stevens.

Paul's talent for singing and performance has raised thousands of pounds for local charities,

but since the tragic death of his son Andrew in Barbados 5 years ago,

Paul now gives his time to one main charity, Cardiac Risk In The Young, or CRY. Daughter Lucy explains.

Andrew suddenly died of a heart condition he didn't know about.

Since then, my dad's thrown himself into his singing,

using it as his therapy.

For years, Paul's sung to help others, so it was time to sing for himself.

His wife Gwen knew which song he'd want to perform for the nation.

Paul loves Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. It's a very poignant song to him

and a very emotional song.

We sent Paul to the Queen's Theatre, home to the world's longest-running musical, Les Miserables.

It was time to stop, reflect and soak up the atmosphere of the legendary venue

and get some tips from the star of the show, tenor Alfie Boe.
