Millions of you watched Casualty on Saturday,

where there was a dramatic hostage situation

It's one of Britains best shows and today we're joined

by one of its stars, Hannah Spearritt.

Coming up tonight, after ten became eight on Saturday,

Louise Hazel takes a look backstage at The Voice and sees

what chaos lies behind that cool facade.

We've got a special musical tribute to the TV trailblazer

and steeplejack extraordinaire Fred Dibnah.

Toby Earle is back to reveal some TV tittle tattle

And of course we're talking Casualty with newcomer Hannah Spearritt.

But first up, we're celebrating the greatest kids show ever made.

It's been on our screens for over half a century,

is the 36th presenter to steer the good ship BP.

She recently attempted a Sport Relief challenge to run

across the Irish Sea in an inflatable ball.

As you do! I will need to train harder than I have ever trained

before. Working with an a leaked team of specialists. Can I conquer

the sea and find a way to walk on water? Can I become the wave runner?

Please welcome the wave runner herself, Lindsey Russell! We just

said, watching that, I feel sick looking at that! It looks really

tough. It was really, really hard. Certainly one of Blue Peter's

hardest challenges ever. I was in that ball for a long time. Nine

hours, in the end. How far did you manage to cover in that time? I did

17 nautical miles. The aim was 21, but as time went on during the

challenge, the first six hours went really well, then the winter set in,

the tides changed and sadly I could see that I was getting further and

further away. Did they get you out or did they turn you back with a

barge? No, they did, they put me on a boat and I had a little hot

chocolate, and a little cry. Getting back was one of the nicest moments

of my life, getting into Portpatrick. It was lined with

children with Blue Peter banners cheering me on. It was not your

first challenge. Although getting down to the studio today has been a

bit of a challenge, how many hours? I set off at ten o'clock this

morning. You should have come in the ball! What else have you done? I did

amounted marathon, in the Swiss Alps. Climbing up and skiing down?

Yes, climbing up on skis with these velvet things under them, to make

them stick to the snow. That was 18.5 hours. And the marathon as

well? Yes, the London Marathon, that was quite nice. Just four hours! You

say that but you did it in three hours and something, didn't you?

That is pretty impressive. Blue Peter has got to be one of the

toughest gigs in telly. Can you ever say no to things, when they say

something in a meeting, can you say no? You could, but I think part of

being a Blue Peter presenter is, you do it all for the badge and because

you love adventure and trying things. That is the brilliant thing

about the show. And especially that Sport Relief Challenge. I did not

make it to the finish line but it is not really about that. It is about

having a go and doing something crazy and giving it everything. We

have got a clip of the moment you found out that you were going to be

the next Blue Peter presenter. The next Blue Peter presenter, as chose

by you, the CBBC viewers, is... Lindsay! This is your moment, you

are the new Blue Peter presenter, how do you feel? I feel amazing!

Thank you for voting meet, so much! Well done! It is so nice that the

kids voted for you because they are quite fussy customers, kids. They

are. It is a lovely way to get the job, actually. It was

nerve-wracking, but to be voted in by the kids, made the first live

show a bit easier because I thought, they want me here.

You're part of a great Blue Peter line-up with Barney

and Radzi, but a bit like Doctor Who, everyone's

It's Mark Curry, Yvette Fielding and Caron Keating.

Yvette Fielding was the youngest ever Blue Peter presenter -

17 when she auditioned as well. She was a baby. And this was my

favourite clip. It was pancake - gate! Here she is making a bit of a

hash of it! Oh, dear! But is that, then. But is tossing it. OK, I have

turned it over. Oh, dear Amy! Don't do what I have done, I am not a very

good cook at all. Do they teach you just to smile whatever it happens?

Yes, just style it out, which is exactly what she did, with that top.

And apparently Mark Curry refused to look after dog Goldie,

so Yvette had to look after him instead.

Lindsey, how do you get on with the current Blue

Yes, I am quite close to Shelley, the daughters. Is that just any

daughters or can you tell it is Shelley? That is 100% Shelley.

Going back a bit further, there was the 1983 line-up

of Peter Duncan, Simon Groom and Janet Ellis.

During her time on the show, Janet Ellis broke the women's

European free fall record when she sky dived with the RAF,

even after she broke her pelvis in training.

The show received loads of complaints about Peter Duncan

looking scruffy, so they launched a "design Peter an outfit"

competition - and the winning design was his trademark green

Now we've talked challenges, we've talked animals,

but another huge part of Blue Peter are the makes.

Well, this one took me eight minutes, it was a Shaun The Sheep

farmyard, complete with trees, fences, friends galore.

There have been some brilliant makes on the show and some

backstage at this show, The things that go on behind those

cameras are outrageous. The Voice however,

is a bit more relaxed. Louise Hazel managed to go backstage

at the first live show this weekend, We are here for the live shows of

The Voice. It is access all areas! I was looking forward to hitting the

button is, but obviously there are no buttons. The blind auditions have

gone now. But it. Reckon they will notice if I just stand in? Oh, there

is upholders! These stairs are totally transparent. I don't know

how anyone has not taken a tumble yet. I have managed to get into the

directors chair. Use of the central nervous system of The Voice. 14

studio cameras going on here. Run titles! I have always wanted to say

that! They are bringing the audience in now. Not long until the live

show. Do you know already who you will give that fast pass to? I don't

know yet, I will make my decision in the moment, but I feel like it is a

50-50 chance for me this week. It is almost even harder. What about you,

Will? I took the fast pass when I came from the airport. I do not know

yet. So many different varieties of talent out there. In my team, we are

seeing a lot of the same. Dope, dope, dope. Just want to put that

out there. First year on the show, how are you finding it? Everyone has

been really nice, and Will particularly. What about the nerves?

I have told my team, as soon as you start getting rid of the nerves, you

are dead. So just embrace the nerves. Use it for the good. Big day

today. First of the live shows. Feeling a little bit nervous. I feel

quite happy, quite excited. What has it been like working with Will? He

is so amazing and it is such a privilege to be able to work with

him. Who chose the song, you or George? George. It is possibly

something which I would not have chose an, but I will see if I can do

it. It is a challenge for me and I think I needed a challenge. What

does it mean to you guys? This is the only chance we get so it is

something to fight for. So, Jordan, are you pleased to make it this far?

I did not even get a turn at the blinds and now I am here at the

lives. It is a bit much to take in. The person that I am going to put

through as my fast pass is Jordan. My fast pass goes to Kevin. I was

nervous, trying to think of my words and stuff. But I really enjoyed it.

You did a good job. Everything on the stage. You have to be all into

it and show everyone. Tonight I am going to be a gentleman. The emotion

was there. . Do you think you have done enough? I have no idea. It is

really hard, just because you do not really know what the public are

going to do. I think they genuinely do base it on the performance. Let's

hear it one more time for the incredible Harry. And of course,

Lauren! What a day. I am kind of exhausted. That was amazing. I am

off to get a cream tea. That sounds good!

gossip? I have and I think I have come up trumps. A new bridal show

has been unveiled, if you will. Say yes, to the dress. Only what is to

do? All you have to do is go in the shop - that one looks nice. Done!

But apparently not. It is always the bit in Don't Tell The Bride where

the blokes fall on their face. Huge in America, 200 episodes. It is

going to be filmed over here. And David Emmanuelle is involved. Yes,

the designer of Princess Diana's wedding dress. Have we got some soap

news? Yes, we have. Denise Welsh, formerly of loose women, will be

joining as one of the slaters. Alison Slater, the mother. She looks

not 1 million miles from Old Mo there. She will love you for that! I

think once you get the Slater Black Barnet. That should be a painted

name, by the way! She will be appearing in EastEnders in the not

too distant future. Do you remember John McArdle? Billy Corkhill, he

will be joining Emmerdale. He will be playing a plumber. He might be

her father. Will being a plumber drive her around for Bend? He does

look like a young father Christmas. And you have got everyone's answer

to Saturday night vision? I have. You think of the great double acts

over the years. Alan Carr and Noel Edmonds! It is a thing, apparently!

I don't know if people have had too much sugar this week. For they are

teaming up apparently, according to reports, for a Saturday night show.

It is being reported that they are going to make an entertainment show

together. Do they know each other, then? They have met, but they are

not exactly best buddies, I don't believe.

Jenna Colburn, we know she likes to travel through time, but for this

new drama, Victoria, she is playing Victoria. It looks amazing. It looks

great. 64 years to cover in this story. There were so many fashion

nation attempts, and of course she invented a sponge cake. A life well

lived. And to link it back to the beginning, she popularised the white

wedding dress. This is what I love about you, we have come full circle.

bit immersing, because guess what? We have got nothing on Casualty, 30

years this year. Joining us is Hannah Spirit. Here she is in her

first episode. What am I supposed to do? I can't go home without the

money. I bought into it, I thought for a couple of seconds I cared

about Noll. I do, but that doesn't get the debt collectors off my

doorstep. You're not going to have to do worry about it in prison. That

is not going to happen, I have seen your friends, the ones who think you

are a hero. It would be a shame if they found out about the truth.

Please welcome Hannah Spirit. That face you do, it is fantastic. Well

done, joining Casualties. It has been great fun, loved it. 30 years,

an institution on the telly. On your first day where you pretty nervous

about it? Yes, I was pretty nervous, there is or is that feeling you are

the new girl, but then quickly you get settled. Everyone is so lovely.

Do you do a lot of scenes with that guy? Yes, it was my surrogate daddy.

Your character, she is a bit troublesome, Mercedes. A bit of a

troublemaker. She has got a child and that is her main want to gain

money but at the end of the day she is a drug addict as well. Also she

has had a bad experience with her ex recently. She is a manipulator. She

comes into the programme marking the nicest guy possible, which is in

all. She then ends up manipulating Mac to give her money. Quite a meaty

character. How does it work on set at casualties, are their ambulances

whizzing around? Can you jazz around on the trolleys? Yes, there are lots

of Ben Stow was around on. It is quite nice when you get those scenes

-- a lot of heads. Then you can just kind of -- a lot of beds. It is film

extorted Dr Who in Cardiff? Yes. Do you all eat together in the canteen?

Yes, we all have lunch at different times. Some aliens queueing up for

the chicken hotpot? It is a bit like that, and there are three sets going

at the same time. Lots of episodes the same time. Before hitting

Hollywood, lots of movie stars popped up at Holby General. In 1993,

an 18-year-old Kate Winslet appeared in the drama as teenager, Suzanne.

Did you know that? No, I didn't. Check this one out, not someone who

appeared in just one episode but three between 1994 and 1996, a

teenage Orlando Bloom. Look at how young he is! Must have had some

trouble with his elf, if he was at the hospital! From health to Hobbit,

1998, a very freshfaced Martin Freeman. After last night's finale,

Tom Hiddleston appeared in 2007 as a window cleaner who accidentally

knocks a woman off a balcony. He doesn't look too upset about it. You

have got to be clumsy. I liked the way we did his audition tape for

bond and now we have lost the gig by showing him in that hat. You sort of

did at the other way round, you had done lots of stuff before

Casualties. I did a little bit before, I had done stuff outside of

school, I was in a Company cover national music Theatre. Theatre was

my stomping ground, and then S Club. Was the TV show called Miami seven?

Yes, there we are. How old were you there? 17 going on 18. Did you have

any idea? We were insanely having fun. That was filmed in Essex, yes?

Exactly! We were living on location there. Was it quite weird to get

whizzed away from your folks? Yes, it was crazy but it was our normal.

In a way I only relies how crazy it was looking back, if you know what I

mean, but at the time it was just like that was our life. Back then it

was the acting that it precedents for you. Yes, that show that we did

was what it was an people enjoyed it, it was good hangover TV, it was

sunny, it was not anything to take seriously, but I was on the path to

hopefully make it as an actress before S Club came up, but what an

opportunity. An amazing career you have had. Yes, all good, and that is

what got me into getting an audition the Primeval. That was the dinosaur

one. Yes. Any sort of dream roles, what do you watch? I would love to

be in Dr Who or something like that. What about another big drama? Reid

night Manager. There is a big queue for that one. That would be amazing.

What about the music, will we see S Club back again, because you did

come back for a bit? Yes, we did it last year, so that doesn't seem that

far away for stop if we were to do something again, then maybe we would

kind of maybe do something for the 20th anniversary. So maybe a couple

of years. We are really looking forward to seeing you in casualty

this Saturday. Let's hear it for Hannah Spearritt. Time for the

biggest decision of the day. What are we watching tonight?

Two big shows, first on Channel 4, this one is at 7:15pm. Guy Martin's

Wall of Death Live. You do that really well. Using shipping

containers, Guy has built the world's largest wall of death, you

know the fairground cylinder that people ride around on motorbikes.

This one is 40 metres in diameter and guy is trying to set a new speed

record. His training has not gone valiantly. Faster! Incredibly, after

just two days of practice, Guy manages a whole minute riding the

wall. OK, come in! But that has got him dizzy again. Sorry. Just a bit

dizzy. This is majorly serious. He hasn't got gloves on or anything. He

needs to hit 60 mph to break the record but apparently he is going

for 80 to 100 mph. Biggest risk is blacking out from the G force, but

he has special G force trousers to stop the blood pumping in his legs.

I am only excited about this. If your nerves aren't totally

shattered, you have two tune in to ITV, 9p for some mystery with

Maigret. Rowan Atkinson stars as the French detective based on the novels

of Georges Simenon. Repeat murders, the killer is normally attracted to

the same kind of victim that these women are not similar in age or

profession, nor are they connected with each other through church

background. Their only link is that they were walking through Montmartre

after dark. And that they had dark hair. He leaves no witnesses. He

makes no mistakes. He is great, I love him. He is not the first actor

to play Maigret, Michael Gambon, Rupert Davies and Richard Harris

have all heard a crack at the pipe chuffing detective. Big shoes to

fill. Before we go, we are with the Lancashire Hotpots, here to

celebrate a TV trailblazer. Britain's most famous steeplejack,

Fred Dibnah. Growing up in Bolton, he was a legend, we used to drive

pastors house all the time, we loved him. You have written a song about

him. We certainly have. We live in a very high-tech age, it is easy to

forget our industrial heritage, and who better personifies that than

Fred Dibnah? What a job to inspire two, walk around, blow stuff up,

run. Get on real digital. But nothing rhymes with Fred Dibnah?

Rate there is a trick to it, if you can't find a rhyme, just say
