Here are the nine contestants preparing for today's show.

Only one will win up to £10,000.

The rest will leave with nothing, as one by one they're voted off as the weakest link.

Welcome to The Weakest Link.

Any of the nine people in the studio here today could win up to £10,000.

They don't know each other. However, if they want the prize money, they have to work as a team.

But eight of them will leave with nothing, as round by round we lose the player voted the weakest link.

Let's meet the team.

I'm Tony. I'm 62, from Stevenage in Hertfordshire,

and I'm a retired company director.

I'm Anna. I'm 43, from Carlisle. I'm a freelance copy editor.

My name's Kevin. I'm 39. I live in London and I work for a museum.

The rules. In each round, the aim is to answer enough questions correctly

to reach your £1,000 target within the time limit.

The fastest way is to create a chain of nine correct answers.

A wrong answer breaks the chain, losing all the money. If you bank before the question is asked,

the money is safe, but you start a new chain from scratch.

At the end of the round, only money that has been banked

can be taken forward.

Round One has three minutes on the clock.
