Only one of the nine contestants preparing for today's show will win up to £10,000.

The rest will leave with nothing, as, one by one,

they're voted off as the weakest link.

Any of the nine people in the studio here today could win up to £10,000.

They are strangers. If they want to win, they'll have to work as a team.

But eight of them will leave with nothing,

as, round by round, we lose the player voted the weakest link.

The rules. In each round, the aim is to answer

enough questions correctly

to reach your £1,000 target within the time limit.

The fastest way

to reach that target is to create

a chain of nine correct answers.

A wrong question breaks the chain and you lose the money.

If you say the word "bank",

before the question is asked, the cash is safe,

but you start a new chain.

At the end of the round,

only banked money can be carried forward.
