After a summer saturated with sport

0:00:030:00:05

and, hopefully, sunshine where you are, we are back!

0:00:050:00:07

Welcome to the show where you tell the BBC's producers

0:00:070:00:11

exactly what you think of their work.

0:00:110:00:13

Welcome to your Points Of View.

0:00:130:00:15

After falling silent more than 30 years ago,

0:00:260:00:28

the tills of Grace Brothers were ringing once more last Sunday,

0:00:280:00:32

as BBC One resurrected Are You Being Served?

0:00:320:00:35

for a one-off special.

0:00:350:00:37

Staying true to the original, there were innuendos aplenty.

0:00:370:00:41

Centre Court, Wimbledon, 1977.

0:00:420:00:45

I thought all my birthdays had come at once

0:00:450:00:47

when I caught one of his balls.

0:00:470:00:49

Remakes can be risky,

0:00:500:00:52

but there was plenty of praise for the new cast

0:00:520:00:55

that stepped into the shoes of the sitcom's much-loved characters.

0:00:550:00:59

But while some of you were left yearning for more...

0:01:200:01:23

..this one had you split right down the middle,

0:01:270:01:29

with some feeling there was only one place for it -

0:01:290:01:32

the bargain bin.

0:01:320:01:33

Actually, that was on BBC Four on Thursday night, Cait.

0:01:590:02:02

Well, a remake of a lost episode, anyway.

0:02:020:02:06

Moving on...

0:02:060:02:07

it has featured appearances from Orlando Bloom and Kate Winslet,

0:02:070:02:10

and is officially the world's longest-running

0:02:100:02:13

prime-time medical drama series.

0:02:130:02:15

BBC One's Casualty celebrated its 30th anniversary last weekend

0:02:150:02:19

with a feature-length episode that saw the return of familiar faces

0:02:190:02:23

from the series' past,

0:02:230:02:25

and disaster strike on the doorstep of Holby City's A department.

0:02:250:02:30

What happened? She deteriorated in the scanner,

0:02:300:02:33

had a fit and vomited.

0:02:330:02:34

She's now in respiratory arrest. We need to get a tube down.

0:02:340:02:37

With the soundtrack provided by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales,

0:02:370:02:41

the special set some of your pulses racing.

0:02:410:02:44

I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

0:02:540:02:56

It was epic, the special effects was really, really good.

0:02:560:02:59

Well done, BBC One!

0:02:590:03:01

But others felt the episode suffered from

0:03:010:03:04

a script in dire need of some first aid.

0:03:040:03:07

Not that we're aware of.

0:03:200:03:22

Casualty continues its record-breaking run

0:03:220:03:24

on Saturday nights on BBC One.

0:03:240:03:26

Now, they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

0:03:260:03:29

But two much-loved series on BBC Two

0:03:290:03:31

have recently made changes to their format,

0:03:310:03:34

and you aren't happy.

0:03:340:03:35

We visited two viewers who got in touch with us to find out more.

0:03:350:03:38

I've been watching Dragons' Den since about Season Two.

0:03:400:03:43

And I really enjoy watching the Dragons pick apart businesses

0:03:430:03:47

and work out whether they're worth investing in.

0:03:470:03:49

And what has it cost you?

0:03:490:03:50

Er, it... That's not something I'm happy to go on television.

0:03:520:03:55

I've been a regular viewer of Mastermind

0:03:570:04:00

for probably four decades, and always enjoy it.

0:04:000:04:03

And it's quite tense,

0:04:030:04:07

and I think it's the tension that you really enjoy.

0:04:070:04:09

Kelvin, Fahrenheit and Celsius are all scales for measuring what?

0:04:090:04:13

Temperature. Yep.

0:04:130:04:14

Dragons' Den this series has had a Reaction Room.

0:04:140:04:16

They have a family member or friend watching how the pitch is going

0:04:160:04:20

and making judgments.

0:04:200:04:21

I actually don't want to watch this, this is... No! Don't be a wimp!

0:04:210:04:24

The problem with the Reaction Room

0:04:240:04:26

is I'm not particularly interested in what

0:04:260:04:28

someone's best mate's uncle's friend has to think about this pitch.

0:04:280:04:31

I'm interested in what the investors think.

0:04:310:04:33

It turns it into a reality show,

0:04:330:04:35

and that therefore makes it less believable.

0:04:350:04:37

The show has changed recently.

0:04:370:04:39

At the end of each contestant's round, there's a countdown clock,

0:04:390:04:43

which indicates how much time is left.

0:04:430:04:45

And there's music playing over the top.

0:04:450:04:48

What does Bruce Anderson take from the house of his boss,

0:04:480:04:50

the surveyor Raeburn Todd,

0:04:500:04:52

shortly before the South Edinburgh Conservative Association ball?

0:04:520:04:55

Underpants. Yep. BEEP

0:04:550:04:56

The problem with the changes are that you lose the tension,

0:04:560:05:02

because you can now see how many seconds there are left.

0:05:020:05:05

When we first saw it,

0:05:050:05:06

both myself and my wife just looked at each other and said,

0:05:060:05:09

"What have they done?

0:05:090:05:10

"We don't... That's awful."

0:05:100:05:12

If I could say one thing to the producers of Dragons' Den,

0:05:120:05:15

I would say, "Stick to your roots, stick to the original format."

0:05:150:05:18

But if they continue going down the direction which they are going into,

0:05:180:05:21

I probably will find it less and less enjoyable

0:05:210:05:23

and I'll probably stop watching altogether.

0:05:230:05:25

If I had to say one thing to the producers of Mastermind,

0:05:250:05:28

it would be, "Leave it alone."

0:05:280:05:30

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

0:05:300:05:32

Well, we put those views to the people in charge.

0:05:340:05:37

Here is what the executive producer of Mastermind had to say.

0:05:370:05:40

Sounds like those changes could be here to stay.

0:05:560:05:58

And on Dragons' Den?

0:05:580:06:00

One hit format, untouched so far,

0:06:220:06:24

returned to BBC One's screens recently,

0:06:240:06:27

with its opening episode garnering a larger audience

0:06:270:06:30

than the most-watched moment of the Rio Olympics.

0:06:300:06:34

Quite a feat.

0:06:340:06:35

The Great British Bake Off is back,

0:06:360:06:39

with a new batch of amateur bakers hoping to whip up perfect peaks

0:06:390:06:43

and concoct gorgeous glazes under the watchful eyes of Mary Berry

0:06:430:06:47

and Paul Hollywood.

0:06:470:06:49

That's Susan, my sister. Susan.

0:06:490:06:51

Spices coming through.

0:06:540:06:55

Little warming effect for the ginger.

0:06:550:06:57

And I think your sister tastes lovely.

0:06:570:06:59

Your sister's absolutely scrumptious.

0:06:590:07:01

She'll be very pleased to know that!

0:07:010:07:03

So far, the series seems to be rising to the occasion for you.

0:07:030:07:06

Though at least one of you thinks

0:07:180:07:19

maybe it's time to mix things up a bit.

0:07:190:07:21

There are another eight episodes to enjoy

0:07:320:07:34

before 2016's Bake Off champion is crowned.

0:07:340:07:37

Keep your thoughts coming.

0:07:370:07:39

But last year's GBBO winner has also been back on BBC One recently.

0:07:390:07:44

Two-part documentary The Chronicles of Nadiya

0:07:440:07:47

saw Nadiya saw Nadiya Hussain return to her family's homeland

0:07:470:07:50

of Bangladesh for the first time in a decade,

0:07:500:07:54

cooking for family and friends,

0:07:540:07:56

and exploring her cultural and culinary roots.

0:07:560:07:59

Coming to Bangladesh, or teaching my children about Bangladesh,

0:08:100:08:12

was never really that important to me.

0:08:120:08:14

But it feels important to me now.

0:08:140:08:15

You enjoy yourself? Yeah. Good.

0:08:150:08:18

The mix of food, culture,

0:08:180:08:20

and Nadiya's personality proved a winning recipe.

0:08:200:08:23

A marvellous mix of race, religion, food...

0:08:370:08:40

All mixed together to give us a very interesting programme.

0:08:400:08:43

You can catch both episodes of The Chronicles Of Nadiya

0:08:430:08:47

on the iPlayer now.

0:08:470:08:48

Staying on foreign shores,

0:08:480:08:50

BBC Two was serving up a slice of the Big Apple this week.

0:08:500:08:54

New York: America's Busiest City,

0:08:540:08:56

had Ade Adepitan, Anita Rani, Ant Anstead and Dan Snow jetting off

0:08:560:09:01

to discover the systems that keep the thriving metropolis functioning.

0:09:010:09:05

The first of three episodes on Tuesday

0:09:050:09:07

saw the team explore Grand Central Station.

0:09:070:09:10

How long did it take you to learn the timetable?

0:09:100:09:13

Well, it's not that long.

0:09:130:09:14

Not long. Not long.

0:09:140:09:15

Not long. Cos it's already...

0:09:150:09:17

Like, it's been in my head,

0:09:170:09:18

cos I've been in Grand Central since 1990.

0:09:180:09:22

It may be the city that never sleeps,

0:09:220:09:24

but this one had you nodding off...

0:09:240:09:26

..while the script and presenters had you questioning

0:09:410:09:44

just who the show was really aimed at.

0:09:440:09:46

That take on America's biggest city perhaps not as Frank Sinatra sang,

0:10:050:10:09

king of the hill, or top of the heap.

0:10:090:10:11

BBC Four's latest venture into the world of slow-paced TV

0:10:140:10:18

hit the road on bank holiday Monday.

0:10:180:10:21

With no distracting music or commentary,

0:10:210:10:23

All Aboard The Country Bus

0:10:230:10:25

took viewers on a sedentary two-hour bus trip

0:10:250:10:27

across Yorkshire.

0:10:270:10:29

Mind how you go.

0:10:290:10:30

Have a nice day. Thank you.

0:10:300:10:31

Thank you.

0:10:320:10:33

FAINT MOOING

0:10:360:10:38

A one-way ticket to perfection for some of you.

0:10:410:10:45

I particularly enjoy the format of this programme

0:10:550:10:58

shown in real time,

0:10:580:10:59

and in complete silence,

0:10:590:11:01

watching the view of the Yorkshire Dales pass by.

0:11:010:11:04

Hopefully, one day,

0:11:050:11:06

this type of programme can be shown as prime time viewing on BBC One.

0:11:060:11:11

But, for some, shots that lingered on the driver for slightly too long

0:11:110:11:15

spoiled the view...

0:11:150:11:17

The shots of him interacting with the passengers were fine.

0:11:170:11:20

But just watching him for two or three minutes at a time

0:11:200:11:24

sitting at the wheel was less interesting than watching paint dry.

0:11:240:11:28

..while some of you just felt distinctively short-changed.

0:11:280:11:31

Moving at a less leisurely pace,

0:11:440:11:46

but with just as many twists and turns

0:11:460:11:48

as a road trip through the Dales

0:11:480:11:50

was the award-winning Irish soap Red Rock,

0:11:500:11:53

which finished its eight week daytime run on BBC One on Friday.

0:11:530:11:57

Set in a fictional seaside town in the shadows of Dublin,

0:11:570:12:00

the show is centred around a busy police station,

0:12:000:12:04

and follows the lives and dramas of the local community.

0:12:040:12:07

No!

0:12:090:12:10

CRYING

0:12:100:12:11

Billy.

0:12:110:12:12

Billy, talk to me! No!

0:12:130:12:15

Billy! No!

0:12:150:12:16

Ambulance, where's an ambulance?

0:12:180:12:19

It's been a hit with you.

0:12:200:12:22

The actors and actresses are absolutely superb.

0:12:220:12:26

The storylines are great,

0:12:260:12:27

and there's always something to keep you intrigued

0:12:270:12:29

and on the edge of your seat.

0:12:290:12:31

The scenery has been superb,

0:12:310:12:33

the acting and the storylines have been splendid,

0:12:330:12:36

completely throwing stereotypes of soap operas.

0:12:360:12:38

It really has been a cop drama not to miss.

0:12:380:12:41

Well, good news for Naomi,

0:12:440:12:46

and everyone else who got in touch with the same question.

0:12:460:12:49

We can confirm the BBC has snapped up the rights to Series Two

0:12:490:12:53

of Red Rock, and it will be back on our screens next year.

0:12:530:12:57

That's it for this week,

0:12:570:12:58

but whether it's to praise or pan tonight's Poldark

0:12:580:13:01

or critique tomorrow's Crimewatch,

0:13:010:13:04

please do keep your Points Of View on the week's TV coming.
