In its long history it's had many uses, but in the 1850s a family with six children lived there.

Basically we are dealing with access-related erosion,

so lots of people go out for a walk in the fells, really enjoy the day,

but it does have a massive impact on the ground that they walk on.

I imagine fell walkers are pretty responsible. They don't seem like vandals.

No, it's not. It's because the paths get worn and people tend to walk

on the nice grassy edge because it's softer on your feet, easier to walk
