-The disciples.

-The Sunday school

-is clearly flourishing, Gwenda.

-I'm sure your experience

-as a teacher is a big help.

-I was a secondary school teacher,

-to tell you the truth,

-But I've raised five children too.

-So, I'm used to children,

-and I also like working with them.

-How difficult is it to keep children

-of this age interested?

-You need a lot of activities.

-We start with a story,

-with lots of gesticulating.

-Sometimes, we act or sing

-or do handiwork.

-For a change, we'll have colouring,

-which they like.

-At the end,

-the mothers have a cuppa...

-..and the children

-have a drink and a biscuit.

-That goes down well.

-The support of the parents

-must be important.

-They're fantastic.

-They truly do give us 100% support.

-We have Llanast y Llan meetings

-from time to time...

-..and they come to those as well.

-What about the youth club

-you run for 11 to 14-year-olds?

-Most aren't chapel members

-and don't attend other chapels.

-Some go to other chapels

-but come to the club.

-Most don't go to any chapel...

-..but they love coming here

-on two Sundays a month.

-We play games...

-..and the minister has

-five quiet minutes to contemplate.

-We talk about Jesus and share

-stories and experiences with them.

-They are very good listeners.

-We finish off with a meal.

-I cook that,

-sometimes with their help...

-..or whoever else is here.

-They love it.

-You've retired,

-so you don't have to do this.

-What kind of pleasure

-does it give you?

-I get a lot of pleasure out of it.

-Actually, I missed working

-with secondary school children.

-I used to teach Biology.

-I taught at Sunday school for years

-at Scotland Street Chapel.

-The teachers were good

-but old-fashioned.

-No pictures, no colouring.

-Just books with a picture

-of Jesus in the boat.

-We're all familiar with them.

-There was a time when we weren't

-allowed to put anything on the wall.

-Now, there are lots of pictures up,

-the children's work.

-We try to make the place

-as colourful as we can.

-We can adapt the room as we want,

-which is lovely.

-school teachers in Aberangell...

-What kind of discussions do you have

-We follow the syllabus

-it's a journey through the Psalms...

-We might not meet every Sunday,

-because of other activities...

-..but they are extremely loyal.

-One thing we do is set homework.

-I choose one or two words

-linked to the lesson.

-Last Sunday,

-they were 'hymn' and 'preaching'.

-We then look for verses in the Bible

-that contain those words.

-Everyone does their homework.

-Before we read,

-I'll ask for your homework.

-You've been looking for verses...

-..that contain

-either 'hymn' or 'preaching'.

-"The men of Nineveh shall rise up...

-with this generation...

-I notice that several chapel members

-have won Gee Medals over the years.

-People must live long here

-and give long service to the chapel.

-They're faithful to the chapel

-in every sense of the word.

-I have to thank them for that.

-We have three who hope to receive

-a Gee Medal in September...

-..when the service takes place

-here at Seion Chapel.

-What is the value

-of Sunday school...

-..for both children and adults

-in the world as it is today?

-I think it's very valuable.

-We can talk,

-either one-to-one or as a class.

-Comfort is important

-in this day and age.

-We feel that we are united,

-and there is strength in unity.
