Hello. Welcome back to day one at Glastonbury Festival. We have

:00:10.:00:14.

experienced all the elements today, but now we are into the golden hour.

:00:15.:00:19.

That was a nice shot. Golden what? The golden hour. Between the dog and

:00:20.:00:24.

the wolf and all that. Lily Allen is scary, isn't she? Terrifying! On

:00:25.:00:31.

edge. Like, can I go? Please, don't, go, Greg. I will miss you. I want to

:00:32.:00:37.

go now! I will miss you. Speaking of which here is Foster The People from

:00:38.:00:44.

earlier today. # # I hope you try to find me

:00:45.:02:00.

# I know what you want to say # Want to rearrange so I will just

:02:01.:02:05.

say it # I really miss you, miss you, I

:02:06.:02:08.

said # Smile at the chance just to see

:02:09.:02:11.

you again # I really miss you, miss you, I

:02:12.:02:17.

said # Yeah, yeah, yeah

:02:18.:02:36.

# Heat stroke, death's like # The wrong things that I think are

:02:37.:02:39.

right # I never knew that I could go as

:02:40.:02:42.

far as this # I took a problem recently

:02:43.:02:44.

forgotten # I know who I had been before I

:02:45.:02:51.

slipped # Oh, I want to change it

:02:52.:02:56.

# I will live a life that makes you smile

:02:57.:03:00.

# When I'm done here and long gone # Feverish speaking, just wantia see

:03:01.:03:04.

your face # What you say, what you say

:03:05.:03:10.

# Oh, yeah # I really miss you, miss you, I

:03:11.:03:13.

said # Smile at the chance just to see

:03:14.:03:15.

you again # I really miss you, miss you, I

:03:16.:03:23.

said # Look at me now before I walk away

:03:24.:03:31.

# You just might miss me, or miss me one day

:03:32.:03:32.

# Yeah, yeah, yeah # Call it what you want

:03:33.:06:19.

# Yeah, we got nothing to lose # We got nothing to prove

:06:20.:06:23.

# Your social guides give you swollen eyes but what I got can't be

:06:24.:06:27.

bought # Call it what you want

:06:28.:06:43.

# You have taken your words and you take your judgments

:06:44.:06:46.

# And stick them on to everything # If it don't conform to what you

:06:47.:06:48.

were born into # Then you run the other way

:06:49.:06:52.

# You say, what's your style and who do you listen to

:06:53.:06:57.

# The rat race ladder climbing fake-face smile's got nothing on me

:06:58.:07:01.

# We got nothing to lose # You better run and hide

:07:02.:07:07.

# Yeah, you crossed the line # Got a knife behind my back

:07:08.:07:11.

# We got nothing to prove # Your social guides give you

:07:12.:07:13.

swollen eyes # But what I got can't be bought

:07:14.:07:17.

# Call it what you want # Call it what you want

:07:18.:07:33.

# APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:07:34.:09:37.

Thank you so. Much. How you guys doing out there?

:09:38.:10:24.

# Well, I see you standing there like a rabid dog

:10:25.:10:27.

# Makes me wanna surrender and wrap you in my arms

:10:28.:10:37.

# You know I try to live without regrets

:10:38.:10:40.

# I'm always moving forward and not looking back

:10:41.:10:43.

# But I tend to leave a trail of dead while I'm moving ahead

:10:44.:10:51.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:10:52.:11:07.

# Feels like, feels like a coming of age

:11:08.:11:29.

# And when my fear pulls me out to sea

:11:30.:11:31.

# And the stars are hidden by my pride and my enemies

:11:32.:11:36.

# I seem to hurt the people that care the most

:11:37.:11:42.

# Just like an animal, I protect my pride

:11:43.:11:46.

# And even when I'm wrong, I tend to think I'm right

:11:47.:11:56.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:11:57.:12:12.

# It feels like, feels like it's comin'

:12:13.:12:16.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:12:17.:12:19.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:12:20.:12:28.

# It feels like, feels like it's comin'

:12:29.:12:30.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:12:31.:13:14.

# Yeah, it's like a coming of age

:13:15.:13:17.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:13:18.:13:26.

# It feels like, feels like a coming of age

:13:27.:13:31.

# Hanging out his mouth, he's a cowboy kid

:13:32.:14:59.

# In his dad's closet with a box of fun things

:15:00.:15:04.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:15:05.:15:13.

# You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun

:15:14.:15:16.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:15:17.:15:19.

# You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

:15:20.:15:27.

# He'll be coming home late He's coming home late

:15:28.:15:31.

# Cos dinner's in the kitchen and it's packed in ice

:15:32.:15:38.

# Yeah, the sleight of my hand is now a quick-pull trigger

:15:39.:15:45.

# And say, "Your hair's on fire, you must have lost your wits," yeah

:15:46.:15:53.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:15:54.:15:55.

# You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun

:15:56.:15:59.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:16:00.:16:02.

:16:03.:16:06.

:16:10.:16:14.

:16:15.:16:19.

# You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

:16:20.:16:46.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:16:47.:17:01.

# You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

:17:02.:17:04.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:17:05.:17:08.

# You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun

:17:09.:17:10.

# All the other kids with the pumped up kicks

:17:11.:17:15.

# You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

:17:16.:17:38.

# I took a sip of something poisoned but I will hold on tight

:17:39.:19:41.

# You know those days when you want to just choose

:19:42.:19:48.

# To not get out of bed, you're lost in your head again

:19:49.:19:51.

# You play the game but you kind of cut

:19:52.:19:54.

# Cause you're coming down hard and your joints are all stuck

:19:55.:19:57.

# I tried to say that's not the only way

:19:58.:19:59.

# I never knew if I could face myself to change

:20:00.:20:07.

# You were pacing, I was insecure # Slip and fall, I got the calls

:20:08.:20:13.

from the prison I've been living in # Yeah, yeah, it's OK

:20:14.:20:17.

# I tie my hands up to a chair so I don't fall that way

:20:18.:20:20.

# Yeah, yeah, and I'm all right # I took a sip of something poisoned

:20:21.:20:22.

but I'll hold on tight # Yeah, yeah, and it's OK

:20:23.:21:18.

# I tie my hands up to a chair so I don't fall that way

:21:19.:21:21.

# Yeah, yeah, and I'm all right # I took a sip of something poisoned

:21:22.:21:28.

# But I hold on tight # Yeah, yeah, it's OK

:21:29.:21:33.

# I tie my hands up to a chair so I don't fall that way

:21:34.:21:36.

# Yeah, yeah, I'm all right # I took a sip of something poisoned

:21:37.:21:39.

# Took a sip of something poisoned APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Well,

:21:40.:22:21.

that looked like so much fun from earlier today. That was the brim --

:22:22.:22:29.

brilliant Foster The People. Live to The Other Stage and this is Paolo

:22:30.:22:33.

Nutini who will be here shortly. Everything's been a bit messed up

:22:34.:22:39.

today. There was an electrical storm, the power went out. Didn't

:22:40.:22:48.

know if we would be on TV today? Any highlights? I was watching earlier,

:22:49.:22:53.

the tent wasn't massively busy, time to leave and turned around and

:22:54.:22:57.

couldn't move. So many people behind me. My highlight was De La Soul. A

:22:58.:23:04.

lot of artists you wouldn't get a chance to see them and they put

:23:05.:23:08.

these artists on and they were on The Pyramid Stage today and there

:23:09.:23:12.

was a security guard in the front row who wasn't putting his hands up.

:23:13.:23:17.

Everybody was going puts your hands up! They singled this guy out. He

:23:18.:23:22.

was stood there going. And eventually everyone was going, 242!

:23:23.:23:29.

Suddenly he goes. Everybody goes yes! You can see that on the BBC

:23:30.:23:34.

Glastonbury website. You can stream all the stages, as well. Another

:23:35.:23:41.

band I saw today Haim. I think we had a moment. We didn't explain your

:23:42.:23:45.

face earlier. Is your face normally like that? I was on The Other Stage

:23:46.:23:49.

and it wasn't the weirdest face on that stage. We did the bass face to

:23:50.:23:53.

her face today. You know the band well, would they have been annoyed

:23:54.:23:58.

at that? Not at all. They're fun-time girls. Sometimes you

:23:59.:24:02.

interview a band and they're like, ha-ha! And they just leave and

:24:03.:24:05.

they're not actually that nice in real life. But with Haim what you

:24:06.:24:10.

see is 100% what you get. They're the most fun. Coming occupy we will

:24:11.:24:16.

have Paolo Nutini live from the Other Stage. We are just waiting,

:24:17.:24:20.

still loads of stuff tonight... He is probably getting into that shirt

:24:21.:24:25.

Gemma gave him. No, he put that in the bin. As we said there is so much

:24:26.:24:29.

to get your teeth into on the BBC. We have all the red button stuff

:24:30.:24:34.

going on. Plus, you can go to the website and stream all of those

:24:35.:24:36.

stages we talked about earlier. Really you can just do whatever you

:24:37.:24:40.

like. You can watch stuff on your tablets and that stuff, as well.

:24:41.:24:47.

Also The Introducing Stage. A cheeky plug, amazing bands on Sunday. Three

:24:48.:24:54.

incredible bands to check out. Hello to Steve who says, how have I not

:24:55.:25:01.

discovered Foster The People? Also, you are rocking us on our sofa at

:25:02.:25:06.

home to Foster The People, that is. Charlotte, the coverage is just

:25:07.:25:10.

brilliant. I feel like I am there with you. And also, this guy Adam

:25:11.:25:15.

says, no World Cup football tonight but thank God for Kaiser Chiefs at

:25:16.:25:21.

Glastonbury, they've saved my day. Over the next couple of days loads

:25:22.:25:25.

of brilliant stuff and we have Sunday and Ellie Goulding who will

:25:26.:25:30.

be on. These people love coming back to Glastonbury. What is it about

:25:31.:25:34.

this place? It's not just a Festival, it's everything else, as

:25:35.:25:38.

well. It's the atmosphere, the music, the people, the weird little

:25:39.:25:43.

tents and performing arts. But also so many people are here that it's

:25:44.:25:47.

like a birthday party. You go and you see all your mates, you are

:25:48.:25:54.

like, all right, hi! And everyone is up for a good time, doesn't matter

:25:55.:25:57.

what you are watching or where you are, there is something to do.

:25:58.:26:04.

Kaiser Chiefs have had a big day, they started the whole Festival, a

:26:05.:26:07.

band gets the job of opening the Festival, they were first on,

:26:08.:26:11.

they've had a lock day. They've been away -- a long day. They've been

:26:12.:26:16.

away a bit. And they're back on headlining The John Peel Stage

:26:17.:26:19.

tonight which is a big deal for them. The great thing about them is

:26:20.:26:25.

they'll have a crowd there who found them through seeing Ricky on The

:26:26.:26:30.

Voice and the old school indie fans 2004 era when you were in a disco as

:26:31.:26:35.

a student or whatever dancing to, oh, my God, I can't believe it! But

:26:36.:26:42.

it's nostalgia and current and new. Arcade Fire later. I am going to

:26:43.:26:49.

watch the Kaiser Chiefs, and I am happy, you are going to see Arcade

:26:50.:26:53.

Fire and I am jealous of you. They've earned that slot, you know

:26:54.:27:00.

what, they've gone we are ready for the Pyramid Stage. For them to do

:27:01.:27:04.

that tonight is a big deal for them. The great thing about Arcade Fire is

:27:05.:27:11.

they span a huge awry, they're going to put on a show. They draw

:27:12.:27:14.

influences from different places. My favourite member is a guy called

:27:15.:27:18.

Richard who I saw a couple of years ago do a performance called Hearts

:27:19.:27:26.

and Breaths, him and a group of musicians and they did this thing

:27:27.:27:29.

and performed this piece of music together and instead of playing it a

:27:30.:27:33.

track or something they were playing to the sound of their own heartbeat

:27:34.:27:42.

with stethoscopes on. Over this piece they fell into time. It was

:27:43.:27:47.

amazing. Paolo Nutini is coming up, we promise you. We have a few

:27:48.:27:51.

technical problems at the moment. You can see there is The Other

:27:52.:27:55.

Stage. Everyone is waiting for him to be on stage. Everything's been

:27:56.:27:59.

delayed because of the storm from today. We will get to Paolo Nutini

:28:00.:28:02.

very shortly. Looking back, you have been to Glastonbury a few times.

:28:03.:28:08.

Have you got a favourite moment, a headliner, a favourite moment? What

:28:09.:28:15.

have you liked at this Festival? On The Introducing Stage Daughter last

:28:16.:28:20.

year was special. All the kind of like, had gone to see them play, and

:28:21.:28:24.

they played the Introducing Stage and there was hardly anyone in

:28:25.:28:28.

there, it was so silent and quiet. You knew that every person in that

:28:29.:28:32.

tent was a massive fan. It made it feel so much more like electric.

:28:33.:28:38.

Also my first ever Glastonbury was brilliant too. We are going to go to

:28:39.:28:42.

The Other Stage now, because Paolo Nutini is ready to go. Enjoy.

:28:43.:29:24.

# How was I to know you'd just come along?

:29:25.:29:46.

# She's the bass, she's the beat She's the rhythm, she's the band

:29:47.:29:55.

# Sly hands, spinning webs like silk

:29:56.:30:10.

# Beats are dripping on me, like spider milk

:30:11.:30:18.

# And I never heard the warning when I woke up this morning

:30:19.:30:21.

# She's my rock, she's my bud, she's tequila, she's a trip

:30:22.:30:28.

# I said the only way I win is the way I lose

:30:29.:30:48.

# And I never got the script I unzipped

:30:49.:30:52.

# Got a little bit wet up in my brain

:30:53.:30:56.

# She's your church, she's your sin

:30:57.:30:57.

# She's the oh She's the rain

:30:58.:31:07.

# She gets me silly She's like a trick on me

:31:08.:31:29.

# And in the climax she would scream with me

:31:30.:31:35.

# She gets me funny, she doesn't want none of my money

:31:36.:31:40.

# So I pour it over her like gasoline

:31:41.:31:42.

# Light a match and then I'm back in my teens

:31:43.:31:45.

# Me and super girl smoking my green

:31:46.:31:46.

# Unload, reload Eyes back swinging

:31:47.:31:52.

# Sweet thing, knows things Jeff Beck sings

:31:53.:31:58.

# Roundhouse, going down Let's go!

:31:59.:32:02.

# Yeah, the girl, so fine You wanna scream. #

:32:03.:33:06.

# There was no sweeter fruit than this

:33:07.:34:14.

# While the rain came a-tumbling down

:34:15.:37:40.

It's such a pleasure to be back here in this field. Playing for you

:37:41.:41:46.

beautiful people. Let's hope the rain stays away.

:41:47.:42:04.

# I kiss the sky to send her blue a letter

:42:05.:42:53.

# Gonna treat her like a real man can

:42:54.:43:14.

# She's got me feeling so much better

:43:15.:43:38.

# Oh, you trade all the money in the world

:43:39.:43:43.

# All the while, she'll make you feel so much better

:43:44.:44:02.

# Oh that girl, makes me wanna be a better man

:44:03.:44:16.

# Sure she sees, gonna treat her like a real man can

:44:17.:44:28.

# I said that girl makes me wanna be a better man

:44:29.:46:25.

# Sure she see she fit, gonna treat her like a real man can

:46:26.:46:29.

# Gonna treat her like a real man can

:46:30.:47:08.

I just want to say thank you to Gemma for my Glastonbury shirt.

:47:09.:48:07.

# And all the corners of our pictures

:48:08.:48:39.

# They still symbolize what you mean to me

:48:40.:48:57.

# Well I'd be a fool to want more from you

:48:58.:49:11.

# I'll cry and you'll cry and we'll cry

:49:12.:49:40.

# And the devil moves and clings to us

:49:41.:49:54.

# Sometimes it feels like it's all I've gotten

:49:55.:50:11.

# Like you'd be a fool to want more from me

:50:12.:50:25.

# And promises captured in one kiss

:50:26.:51:32.

# We hide and we seek and we squander

:51:33.:51:38.

# The evil eyed leads a curious fight

:51:39.:54:12.

# And even angels can get caught in the end

:54:13.:54:15.

# With their halos round their throat

:54:16.:54:19.

# Part time lovin' on the primitive still

:54:20.:54:29.

# Two glass mantras on a hook, on a rail

:54:30.:54:32.

# Seems like I'm doing the same old shit

:54:33.:54:44.

# Yeah, you should taste her majesty

:54:45.:55:10.

# And all the rest seems circumstantial

:55:11.:55:48.

# Scattered across a less predictable stage

:55:49.:55:53.

# Scrambled softly, they're all over your plate

:55:54.:55:56.

# Seems like I'm doing the same old shit

:55:57.:56:11.

# Just like a crow, it comes and goes

:56:12.:56:48.
