You started back a number of years ago with your brothers,

Billy and Norman, in a folk group.

But I suppose the change to country wasn't great.

There's a great connection between folk and country, isn't there?

There is indeed. Both styles of music are very closely related.

Started out singing folk music - I won't say how many years ago,

-a few years ago.

-Ah, just five or six.

And just went on into the country music scene then.

But I still love to sing the Irish ballads and all of that

when I get the chance.

I suppose your love for music really started with your late parents.

I was lucky to know both of them.

Great influences in the music for you too.

They were, as, I'm sure, your own family, Daniel, as well,

it was just always singsongs and little gatherings and all of that.

You know, at Christmastime and birthdays

and whenever all the family got together.

So it was something that we grew up with. It's a lovely thing.

You've got to tour with many people, but I'd imagine that the opportunity

to open up for Kris Kristofferson was a definite highlight?

That was fantastic.

It was over in Newfoundland in Canada, just a few years ago.

It was Kris Kristofferson's first time visiting Newfoundland as well.

So I was asked if I would like to come over

and be part of his show and be his guest.

So I didn't need to be asked a second time, you know, I was there.

And it was fantastic. He was a lovely person, lovely to meet him.

Just so nice and so unassuming, for such a huge star.

-Yeah, fantastic really.

-I didn't get to tour with you yet?

Oh, by God, that's all coming, sure. I could get to tour with you!

Louise, like myself, you were in no great hurry to get to the altar.

LAUGHTER

Tell me what it's like for you

to mix the marriage with the show business?

It's great.

It's very easy. I'm married to a farmer.

And I come from a farming background as well,

so it wasn't a strange life for me to go into that.

Having said that, I don't do whole lot on the farm.

But I'm there in spirit.

I'm doing this for so long

that I wouldn't know how to do anything else, really.

-That's one of the very early days now.

-And all the boys there.

-I haven't changed a bit.

And I was there every night, plastering on make up,

-to try and make myself look older.

-I remember that.

And now it's the other way around!

It was just very enjoyable, and great fun.

To get the chance to do that as teenagers was great.

I'm always on the lookout for stage clothes and stuff.

Of course, obviously, I'm attracted to the bling straight away

when I see that in the shop.

This is one of my favourites.

I wore this when we did a video last year of my song, Circles.

You know, it's lovely to visit the cities

and places like New York or London or further afield.

But I always love to come home.

It's just a great feeling driving in the gate,

tired after being wherever I've been.

Just to come in and you're home safe and sound. It's a great feeling.
