It was some experience watching an Example performance with Example

sitting next to you. I can't let this slide.

Some of the quotes have been amazing.

He had to hush the crew and say, "Listen to this bit here." You have

got to be your own worst critic. You are your own best fan.

listen, listen Greg, you have got to be your own best fan and your

own worst critic. I was watching that and saying the symbols need to

be quieter and the guitar needs to be louder. You have got to assess

it. And then he comes out with, "This is the best job in the

world." Seeing those people smiling, how can you possibly want to stop

this? How has that that compared to what has gone before? As it got

bigger and bigger, every time we played to a crowd whether in a

small dance tent. Two years ago we played to 4 four or 5,000 people,

every time you set a new new bar for you have, you want to raise and

raise and I watched loads of bands I respect and I take different

things, you catch catch Coldplay and you go, I want their lights and

you watch Dizzy and go, "I want their sound.". You watch watch

watch Florence and you want her hair.

I tried to take it off her. The Scottish crowd are the best in

the world. How does this crowd compare? Honestly, honestly, so the

best gig this year, the top three when I did the Arena tour.

I think it was sold out every night? It was sold out. Thanks for

that. The best gigs were Aberdeen, Glasgow and MEN. I always know you

come north of the border, there is something in the air. They're just

crazy. Tonight set the bar. It set the bar.

I'm like wondering what gig this year could possibly be bigger than

that? In terms of your band as well, having that full set-up behind you,

it just works so well. When we perform like obviously, you

know, me being me, I love the attention! No, really? No, really!

But at the same time I want to portray what I do like as a band.

Even people know me as Example, I regularly get tweets or people on

Facebook, "Example are the best band." I don't mind being a band. A

front man in front of a DJ and a load of people who don't care. I

encourage my band to get out there and just behave how they want and

that adds a real element to the show that's lacking because there

is not many live bands performing as these festivals.

You are one of my favourite live acts to watch. You know I take the

mickey out of you for selling out the Arena tour. He has done that

all night. It has got huge over the last few years. I know you write

all the time. I'm not really stopping. Five or ten years ago,

there was a safety net, if you had a massive album that sold millions

of copies, you go afford to go away. It is a harsh industry, you can be

massive one year and have a load of number ones and I'm not going to

name names and there are people who had number ones and they have

disappeared. You can't afford to get put in with that crowd. I want

to keep releasing and bettering my last single and that's the plan. It

is up to the public to decide whether they think the new single

is better than the last one. After we did the arenas which I wanted to

do, but never knew if I would get there. After the arenas and it is

stadiums. A few year when we were playing in Camden and I said I'm

going to do arenas and everyone laughed and now I want to do

stadiums, the great thing is having Ed Sheeran and good mates, but

people I respect hugely and take things from their show and what

they are doing career wise and they are watching and come up to me

afterwards and say, "You can get to that stadium level and go and do

it.". There was a load of people... I hope so.

Would you like to watch, it is a silly question, would you like to

watch some more of your set set? Don't. I'm coming across really

badly here. You were both singing along. You

were trying to outrap him. I will probably watch that and go

back to my keyboard player and go, "What are you doing? Why are you

looking like that?" I have got to assess it.
