Wow, the magnificent Tinnie Tempah and a stunning formerance of

Trampoline. A very -- formerance. A very exciting way to start this, the

18th MOBO awards, everybody. They have finally come of age and

they are legal. Now back when it started in 1996,

the world was a very different place. Jay-Z had just released a

debut album. The Spice Girls spent seven weeks at number one with

wannabe and Take That split up for the first time a little-known DJ

joined BBC Radio one to do the iconic show, the Rhythm Nation. Oh,

how the world has changed. Jay-Z is on his 12th album. The Spice Girls

may have spent seven weeks at number one but their musical only spent

seven weeks on stage. Take That are still together, with Robbie, without

Robbie. We have a bright future. Tonight we have performances from

Iingy asomedayia. Rudimental. Fuse. Ms Dynamite and shy.

Not only that, Naughty Boy. Laura Mvula.

And Jahmene Douglas and a special anniversary performance from skop so

Solid. Someone call skrurt. I'm joking.

A lane of had up worthy of any anniversary. That will make a decent

party around Nelson's house. We will be delving into the arc iefts to

show some incredible performances, highlights. I've had a look. They

are amazing. You will not be disappointed. And we've invited

amazing year in music for the MOBO's 18th? Girls what were we like at 18?

What did we wear? Things that were quite embarrassing probably looking

back like white PVC highheels. And remember the black lipliner, with

lip goes gloss. We are trying to forget. We are but the one thing we

can agree on is that when we were 18 we moved watching the MOBOs. Let's

What a performance from Rudimental. Now, two ladies who epitomise

everything these awards are about - talent. One received the MOBO from

Alexander O'Neil at the very first awards.

The other has been on a mission - sorry I had to - since her debut

album was released in 2011. Both have new albums. Both are brilliant.

Here we go. MOBO for Best Male Act is one of the most hotly-contested

categories of the night. It is for male group, duo or exceptional

The B MOBO award. Please welcome the force behind the awards, the

founder, the CEO, the boss lady, and Queen of MOBO, Kylie King MBE

As we celebrate our coming of age in true MOBO fashion, let's go back in

history. MOBO was founded in 1996 when the majority of the performers

here, tonight, were probably still at school. At the time there was

little recognition in the UK. MOBO was born to celebrate the music we

love. And MOBO has become the sound track of our culture and future. The

B MOBO non-music award was cre in 2006 to appreciate people and

organisations that support the MOBO values. This year's recipient has

been a catalyst for change and solidarity. They are a national

charity that is committed to supporting young people from diverse

and disadvantaged backgrounds. So, the recipient of this year's B MOBO

ais The Stephen Lawrence Charity Trust for all they do for us,

absolutely and our children's future. Collecting it is Stephen's

mother, who establisheder the charity in honour of her son. Ladies

It's been 20 years since my son was killed and in that 20 years, we have

managed to change laws, we have a Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.

CHEERS We have helped over 100 students. We

have now six of them who are qualified architects in this

country. And there are four out in Jamaica.

And as we move forward to the future, part of our work is to

continue and what we are trying to do is looking at professions. The

idea is that it doesn't matter what professions the young person wants

to go into. The Stephen Lawrence Trust wants to help them to achieve

their goals and to take their place in society. Being here tonight and

seeing all these artists here, I think it is fantastic and the fact

that MOBO is celebrating their 18th birthday is unbelievable. All I want

to say to you all, is thanks very much.

named their debut album Home. Not because they are all from Hackney

but because when they are on stage they feel right at home, wherever

Absolutely speechless. I don't know what to say. You know what, there is

a lot of people we have got to thank but before we got into that, we need

to thank you guys, the fans from supporting us from day dot.

I also need to thank our management, Black Butter. Asylum. Henry Village.

Also need to thank our parents for all those times when we were really,

really broke and they were obliged to let us live in their houses. So

thank you very much. My mum is with us. I also want to big up all the

band members that have helped make the live show such a big thing, Tom

Jones, Beanie, Sinead, Ella, John Newman. All the family. An Marie,

everyone who has played a part. No-one ever sees what happens behind

the scenes. There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears. We've worked pretty

much all our lives to get to this stage here and we are so thankful
