I wouldn't come on The Voice because I know I wouldn't win.

I don't know if I'd enter into it.

The level is so high, it really is.

I think that's very important,

that there are no people that shouldn't be there to start with.

And that's why this show is different.

We're holding our hands up for people that are singers.

Tonight, The Voice is louder than ever.

People don't believe in me this year. I might actually have a little cry.

And as the competition intensifies...

..the coaches go all out to grab THE best talent.

The Blind Auditions continue now on The Voice.

This show is open to everyone

and has even encouraged some who've already had a music career

to go for a second shot at the bright lights.

I'm a mum of two. I'm a trained chef and pastry chef.

'I'm constantly on the go.'

I'm loving what I do, but music is my world.

'I think it's about time I put that back'

in the forefront of my life.

'I am so tired of people recognising me for my history

'and not hearing what I'm capable of doing

Failure is such a hard thing to come back from,

especially in the music industry because you become tainted.

But the most amazing thing is that you can't keep talent down.

You might try, but you can't. I think you are a genuine star.

I know what it feels like when everybody thinks,

"You're just one member of your group.

"You're not going to have a hit."

So I know what it feels like to fight for something.

So, coming to me on my team, you'd get a fighter,

not just a coach, a friend and a partner to go out and fight

to make sure you get the right lighting when you're performing,

the right sound when you're performing,

-the right stage presence...

-OK.

-So you'd become an artist,

not just a singer, you're already a great singer, but an artist.

The person that's fighting for you.

-being a female in this competition is very scary.

The emotional side of it sometimes can be harder than the performing.

49-year-old Barry James Thomas is one of our older acts,

but believes he can still rock our coaches' worlds.

When I joined my brother's band, The Dougie James Soul Train,

that was like my education. That was where I got my education from.

For years, "It's Dougie's younger brother."

"You're Dougie's brother, aren't you?"

It's got even worse now cos of his sons. There's Ryan and Adam.

One's in Emmerdale and one's in Coronation Street.

Ryan saved my life. I was living in Marbella for three years.

Sounds great, but it wasn't going well.

My nephew spotted I wasn't happy.

Basically, he told me to get away and come and sleep on my sofa

and looked after me better than anyone's ever looked after me.

He's been amazing. I can't thank him enough.

And it's a denim-on-denim frenzy today.

Here's fellow rocker 19-year-old Mitchel Emms.

My first taste of the limelight

was when I was ten years old

and I appeared on Stars In Their Eyes Kids.

Tonight, Cat, I'm going to be Kurt Cobain.

'When I went to school,

'Kurt and his music was the only thing that got me through.

'I had long hair and all the kids really didn't like that.'

People would just bully you because you look different

'and you're into a different type of music.'

I guess I wouldn't be here if I wasn't for my dad.

He set me up with my first guitar and drove me to gigs.

He's always been there as a kind of force behind what I do.

When I was 14, singers and bands

were my real heroes.

Now, Mitchel has become my hero.

I really, really do...

..really do look up to him. He's the best.

So, it's experience and youth. First to rock out, here's Barry.

I thought your tone was great and your pitch, you were on it as well.

But it just didn't hit me right in the gut, you know.

You think you'd know it!

I thought you were rockin' and smokin',

but I was hoping that Danny turned around

because you guys would have been great together.

But, yeah, thanks for playing that song. I love that song.

I would say, critique-wise,

I think it's really hard for me personally, that kind of song.

I kind of felt like it was a bit obvious for your voice,

and I think you're probably really comfortable singing it.

And the one thing that I think

everyone has to understand with a show like this,

cos we can't see you and we can't see that you're playing

and probably the passion that you've got when you're singing it,

we're really just listening to the tone of your voice

and what you're singing and how they fuse together.

And for me, it was just a bit obvious.

Try and really, like, keep the flow going in a song like that.

I liked it, but it was a bit predictable.

It's like something that I've heard before,

but the sound of your voice is great.

To be honest, I've had such a great time being on the show.

It's absolutely wonderful. Absolutely amazing.

Our next act has bigger things to worry about as she arrives

for her blind audition.

Meet 27-year-old Amy Wilkinson.

I applied for The Voice last year, but nerves just completely got

-the better of us, and I ended up not coming to the audition.

-Right.

And then this year, I was like, "Right, it feels right.

"The show is about singing and that's all it's about.

"I'm going to do it this year."

I've been singing for as long as I can remember.

I had the opportunity to join a girl band.

For three years, I was travelling the country singing

and it was absolutely brilliant.

Unfortunately, the band had some personal differences.

I made the really hard decision to leave.

My confidence was just shattered.

Singing had become so painful to me

that I just felt as though,

at the time, I never wanted to sing again.

And I was just scared that...

HER VOICE CRACKS I was just scared to be hurt again.

So I just...

..I just locked myself away.

And it's really hard to think about it now.

So I don't think about it.

The Voice has given me hope.

And this is such a huge deal to me.

This is the first step of trying to achieve something with singing again.

I just hope my nerves don't get in the way.

No... I used to sing in, like, a girl band, and when I left,

I lost all my confidence and, really,

I didn't think I was ever going to try and sing again.

I think you need to do more gigs.

-The more you do, I think, the more relaxed you'll be.

-And the more confident you'll become.

I think you've a nice quality, you've a nice tone to your voice.

I just don't think the control is quite there yet.

Our next act has already travelled miles to chase her dream.

It is 23-year-old Belfast girl Leah McFall.

First I was singing when I was four.

And it probably sounded awful,

but I thought it was great.

Leah is a great daughter, always interested in music.

Even in the car seat, she'd be calling out, "Put Mickey Jackson on."

So, obviously, she was a fan of Michael Jackson.

I always knew I was going to do singing as a career.

I did my first solo when I was six in my church.

I did various competitions growing up.

When I was 20, I decided I wanted to be in London for singing.

She has left a huge hole in our lives,

not living it at home or in Northern Ireland anymore.

The fact that she is doing something that she really wants to do...

Oh, my goodness!

..is just fantastic.

Of course, I get trips over to see her.

We make good use of the time we do have shopping together.

I think fashion is important when you are a musician

and an artist, they go hand-in-hand.

Everything she buys smells of mothballs, I have to say,

but I like her style.

I've seen worse.

To see her develop her music and her singing style,

has just filled me with pride throughout the years.

She's just worked so hard and now and to enter this,

I'm just really excited for her.

I think by the time I'm walking up there and handed the mic

and I know I'm about to go on stage in front of, you know,

four obviously megastars, really, I'll probably be looking

at the exit door, thinking, "That's a beautiful, big door."

But I'll go on stage, I'll do it.
