News with David Muir. Welcome to ABC World News. The US

now knows who this masked man is in those horrific ISIS videos. The only

reporter on board a US warship in the Gulf as the fighter jets take

off. Caught on camera, the officer who pulled over a driver for not

wearing a seatbelt is opened fired upon. The story that shocked the

world. The parents of the 12`year`old girl lured into the

woods by her friends and left for dead. What they reveal tonight.

Good evening. That major development. What we have learned

from the FBI today. Top officials confirming they have identified the

man behind this mask. The killer from those horrific ISIS videos

killing American hostages. Now we go to our correspondent.

I spoke with the FBI director today and he said they now know who that

man is. The barbaric video is haunting. A masked man standing

above James Foley. The man in the mask known as the nickname Jihadi

John. A variety of techniques had been used to find his real

identity. He speaks in a British accent. That voice has been compared

to known recordings and intelligence officials have been allowing

informants to listen to them. They searched for a match with his eyes

and hands and examined the backgrounds of the tapes, using

computer simulations to try to construct his face. The FBI director

told me and a small group of reporters that he is now confident

he knows who this man is but refused to reveal his name. The big

question, if they now know who he is, where is he tonight? They

believe he is somewhere in Syria but do not know for sure and a manhunt

is now under way to find him. Thank you. Moving on to the Gulf with our

reporter as one of the only reporters on board one of the

warships. Look at this, the before and after of an airstrike.

Decimating the abutment ISIS is using to get oil and money. Here is

Raaqa, a young mother with a weapon on her shoulder walking with her

toddler. A fighter holding an iPod and a woman logging onto Facebook

before missiles rain down. Now we go to our correspondent. We are in the

middle of the Persian Gulf. US ships and work lanes are making 20 47 war

against ISIS. `` warplanes. There are over 60 aircraft on this

carrier, most of them are strike fighters but there are also

surveillance and reconnaissance planes. The strikes targeting those

critical ISIS controlled oil supplies, multiple oil supplies

generating millions of day but now destroyed. I was on a tanker

mission. This commander is telling us that the goal is to stop the ISIS

money flow. Another major target is the stronghold of Raaqa. We are seen

inside the city, this video secretly shot by a woman before the airstrike

showing the brutality within. Heavily armed men and women

everywhere. Here extremists burning Western paraphernalia and a

harrowing moments when the woman is called over to militants who think

her face is overly exposed. Life has not been the same since the campaign

began. Indeed, after the sun went down in the Persian Gulf, flight

operations intensified as we watched and waited for what comes next.

Back at home, startling new video. Watch this. A routine traffic stop,

somebody pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, sees the officer opened

fire. The driver survives and you are about to see and hear it all.

Startling video of the moments after a trooper pulls a man over for an

alleged seatbelt violation. Can I see your licence please?

Watch again. The man, told to produce his drivers license, reaches

into his car. The trooper fired at least four shots, hitting him once

in the hit. The former state trooper is now

charged with assault and battery. It is the latest in a string of police

in `` incidents that were caught on tape for all to see and judge for

themselves. California police paid $1.5 million to settle with this

woman, heated by a patrolman. And a jury decided this week to not charge

the officers who fatally shot this man at a Walmart. He was holding a

pellet gun he'd picked up of a stall shelf. It's having an effect across

the country. In New York City and Washington, DC, police are

considering using body after a recent study showed that technology

reduced the rate of unnecessary force I50 9%.

`` by 59%. They are thinking of using these body cams elsewhere?

Yes. Chief has come out and apologised to that 18`year`old shot

and killed by police last month, saying he is deeply sorry.

Turning to that missing college student, last seen on this

surveillance tape. The man seen on the tape has been charged with

abduction. He has been discovered in Texas. Where was he headed next?

Into Texas court rooms today, the 32`year`old hospital assistance,

accused in the disappearance of Hannah Graham, in police custody.

Complaining about his jailhouse jumpsuit and the hard bed in his

cell, he waived his right to extradition.

The lawn arm of the law reached down to a beach in Texas on Wednesday,

where they say he pitched at hand. `` the long arm. On Tuesday,

somebody called the sheriff at a deputy and he was taken in. Matthew

is seen in surveillance videos with Hannah Graham just minutes before

she went missing. Police say she had already been drinking heavily and he

was buying her more at a restaurant and bar. Today, Abare said that when

they left Matthew had to help a walk. Police asked local realtors to

search vacant homes for sale. We don't know where Hannah Graham is

and we have defined her. It's not clear why Matthew headed to Texas

but records show he may have had family there. He has not yet ended a

another. The nationwide man`hunt tonight for the suspect, on the run

now for nearly two weeks, accused of ambushing state troopers and killing

one father. After being spotted, how is he surviving in the woods?

Tonight, law enforcement now battling the elements. We saw the

dogs searching the woods. Police said they had picked up his ascent,

only to lose it on the wet ground and at water crossings. `` his

scent. He has played for months or years for this attack and his

efforts to avoid apprehension. Today, we went out with two people

who teach survival skills. Watch how he shows how a person can hide in a

hollowed out blog. Judy hiding in plain sight. If she doesn't move,

there is a good chance he will walk right past her. They believe he

knows those tricks. He probably has MREs, things that have heaters, so

he can stay on the run. But in these conditions, he can only run so long.

The longer they can keep him contained, the more energy he will

burn, the more likely he will be to make mistakes and be spotted. And

tonight, that's exactly what law enforcement say they are doing.

To California and an image of a home break`in. Authorities say a lesson

for us all. Incredible. The young woman crouched on her rooftop. Above

her, the intruder closing in. Her split`2nd decision saved her life.

Tonight, how she survived it. `` split second.

A terrifying image. A woman crouched on her roof, wearing only a flannel

shirt and cried `` clutching her phone. Authorities say he was an

intruder. A homeless man who had broken into her home while she was

in bed. She told a local radio station she called police before

crawling out of her window. Two minutes later, authorities

arrived. The least talked about of the roof while firefighters rushed

her down. Was she right to act in her down. Was she right to act in

thousands of them across the country and now a series of lawsuits, saying

they are responsible for deadly accidents. State officials are now

taking action and making changes. This test film shows what is

supposed to happen when a vehicle hit a guard rail head on. An

ingenious device. It absorbs the impact and flex the rail of the

site. Now, in the wake of a number of accidents where that didn't

happen, where guardrails pierced vehicles and people inside,

officials are taking action. Rebecca lost her right leg. It was

essentially SP that came through my car. Lawyers for her and others now

suing the company say as slight modification in the design saved a

few dollars but created a dangerous flaw. It makes all the difference in

the world. This animation shows what the boys say can happen with the

modified version. Today, Missouri says it is stopping further use of

the guardrails and Massachusetts said it would stop their use while

the investigation takes place. They will take the investigation

seriously and hopefully more states will do the same. The company

insists the guardrails are safe and they have passed test and neat

federal standards. These guardrails are in almost every

state. To remove them all would be one of the biggest safety recalls

Now to that story that shocked parents around the world. The

parents of that Wisconsin 12`year`old, taken into the woods by

her own friends and stabbed 19 times and left for dead, all to impress a

character they learnt on the internet. She survived and tonight

her parents in the first moment they saw her. I walked into the trauma

room that she was in. She was pale as a ghost. She was terrified. She

was crying, she couldn't breathe. But she saw you? She saw me and she

put her hand out. I rushed over to her and hotter and I said, you are

going to be OK. It's going to be fine. `` and halved her. I could see

she was covered in stab wounds. All I could hear was there were five on

her arm, seven on her leg. I'm thinking, seven? What? One of the

nurses said she counted 19. The other said she counted 19 as well.

Where did she get the strength to crawl out of the woods? When we

asked her, she said she wanted to live. Nearly five hours after she

called out of those woods, the two other 12 `year`olds at the sleepover

are found. Right here, walking. The girl said they would headed to find

a mansion where they believe the fictional internet character truly

lives. Police say they were hoping to impressive `` impress him. They

say they were going to live there. Yes. How do you even wrap your heads

around that? I can't. I've tried. Who is this character? He is a

faceless creature. He wears a suit and has no hair, no features. He is

always there, always in the background is lurking. You only

notice him if you are looking closely for him. Be keen to that
