always considering and reconsidering in the light of evidence, and one of

the concerns I was going to say was people were reporting concerns about

Salman Abedi way before the Manchester atrocity, so one of the

questions is why weren't resources put into following that up?

Certainly there are questions that need to be answered. I also think it

is clear the lame for what happened in Manchester is solely with the

perpetrator himself, it was an appalling atrocity, it happens in a

context and it is right for us to consider all aspects of the context

through from levels of policing to what Jeremy Corbyn said this week.

You are saying in your manifesto the Internet should be free of stationed

corporate service with our rights and freedoms protected. In these

circumstances and that jihadist groups use encrypted messaging on

the Internet and use the Internet to promote their hate for messages. You

think this is a sensible policy? We oppose the mass industrial scale of

surveillance and e-mails. There are plenty of people who would you see

as being on the side of the argument that are wanting to make sure we

crack down on this as hard as possible who would say the biggest

you make the haystack you are looking for the new law, the harder

it is to find it. Extra surveillance does not work. It is targeted

surveillance that makes the difference. We are in favour of

that. It is hard to understand. You say you do not want the police to

have extra powers or not to have extra powers of surveillance? We are

on the grounds that it was suggested that it would not be effective. It

was not on an only Civil Liberties line, it was about how effective is

it if you are increasing the number of people you are putting under

surveillance, if you are massed crawling? People like myself are on

the domestic extremist list, people peaceful environmentalists. How does

that help by looking at people like me than people who are posing a

serious risk? To think and when encryption is wrong? No. So you

would like to see this end to end encryption? It is very

controversial. You would like to see it ended? I want to take advice on

what is needed to keep us say. One thing we know is Abedi's friends and

family contacted the state, did what they had to do. But you have called

Prevent this attempts to involve the community mark which has worked in a

way. Why was it xenophobic? Because many in the Muslim community leave

it has been an attack on their group in particular. We want a mechanism

where people can come to the state with concerns, but when it is

perceived by the Muslim community as being a toxic, Big Brother brand. We

need to look at it again. I think that is what the Merit Manchester is

saying, and what others have said. We need to see it as something that

is broadening and inclusive and from the bottom-up, not from Mike Big

Brother. This is knee jerk liberalism and one of the very few

Muslim MPs in the last few years service. By and large, the Muslim

community has no real problem with Prevent. What we see is small groups

of activists who condemn Prevent or provide no alternative. They are

talking about people like you. My situation on this is through

speaking to my own constituency and speaking to elsewhere. It is looking

at what is the most effective way of keeping people safe, and when you

have a programme that has lost credibility in vast areas of Muslim

society. It is not means scrapping it. Making sure we have a mechanism

so that we can make sure we do our very best to keep people safe. In

other circumstances, you will be talking about many other things,

wind farms, solar energy. And jobs! But today, the will understand that

is all we have time for. Thank you very much indeed.
