When militants from so-called Islamic State entered Nadia's

village, they killed all the men.

Six of her brothers were murdered.

She and hundreds of other Yazidi women were taken captive and,

in the months that followed, they were passed from one group

of men to another and gang raped.

She managed to escape, but it is thought that thousands

of women are still being held captive.

Nadia Murad is here in London campaigning to try to get the world

to notice and do something.

Before Islamic State militants came to your village 18 months ago,

can you give us a sense of what your life was like?

Can you tell us what happened when the Islamic State militants

came to your village?

So, you have a large family.

How many of your brothers did they take?

How did you know?

Were you aware of what was happening?

OK.

So 700 men disappeared, basically.

They killed your mother as well, I think.

Can you tell us what happened when they took you and the other women?

Where did they take you?

What did they do to you?

And then when you got to Mosul, what happened to you then?

And then what happened?

So, you went with the man that you thought might be easier for you,

a smaller man, than the big man.

And what did he do?

You say your nieces were also there.

How young were some of the girls there?

You were held for three months.

In that time, did you have conversations or any normal

conversations with these people who were holding you?

Did any of the Islamic State men or women show you any compassion?

You said that they told you to convert to Islam.

Did you think about that?

What?

They would force you to pray, to behave like a Muslim,

rather than a Yazidi?

How did you manage to escape?

And that allowed you to escape and get out?

There are many women who have been held who killed themselves

out of desperation.

Was it something that at the time you thought?

But I wonder that you didn't question your faith,

you didn't wonder given what happened to you whether there

was a God.

And we should explain that the Yazidi faith,

there are only a few thousand people left in the world who practise.

And when you think about the men who raped you in the time

you were being held, what do you want to happen to them?

You would like to see them prosecuted in an international

court?

Do you also want to see soldiers, ground troops, going in from Western

countries to take on Islamic State?

There are young people all over the world who are attracted

by what so-called Islamic State are doing and want to go

fight for them.

What do you say to them?

You have been all over the world with your campaign to get the world

to notice what is going on.

You have spoken at the United Nations.

What difference is it making?

Do you have any hope they will do something,

they will be able to stop Isis?
