Out North West. We will find out about the local actress who will

make it big in Bollywood. In side Out has access to a street ripped

apart by a bomb blast. He is touring the north, promising he can

talk to the dead. We put this man's The test. Behind the scenes with

Liverpool's rising Bollywood square. Yesterday was ten times as busy as

this. We had crowds gathering and The Christmas shoppers are out in

force here in Liverpool. If you are preparing for the festive period,

spare a thought for those who Christmas will be different. For

some, in Shaw, in Oldham, their lives were torn apart by a gas

blast which destroyed some of their street and killed a young child.

Jacey Normand has spent the last six months following those who were

26th June 2012, a day the people of Shaw will never forget. I thought

the plane had come down. The only way I could describe it was, 9/11.

At 1115, a huge blast killed two- year-old Jamie Heaton on Buckley

Street. I rang for emergency services, and I said there had been

a gas explosion, with three houses down. Dozens of homes were also

heavily damaged, as well as those. This mobile phone footage shows the

immediate impact of the blast. Its effects are still being felt. This

almost looks like this it of a movie. Yes, this is the devastation

caused by the gas explosion. A lot of the house has gone. Nine houses

have been demolished. Back in July, I was shown the full extent of the

damage by Jackie Hunter, who had just spent her retirement money

renovating the house. You cannot call it home any more, because I am

not living here, because of the devastation. It is such a mess,

with all of the damp and everything. Of the floor does not feel safe.

like that and then went back down again. Because it came through,

like that, and then rushed the other way. It pushed the window out

there, and broke the dog flap. had to leave everything. I walked

out on the day, in the clothes I had on, no code, nothing. And your

kitchen, everything is as it was on the day. Exactly as it was. I have

still got washing in the washer. I have still got things on here ready

to wash. And the smell, because you have not been able to clean it up.

No water, so I cannot clean. are you feeling at the moment,

aside from not being in your own home? Frightened. Devastated.

just want to come home. I dream it. Every night I dream it. You had

just done it up as well. Oh, yes, I spent all of the money you had from

my retirement. Have you got any idea when you might be able to come

back? They said Monks, rather than weeks. I am the optimist, I hope it

will be before Christmas. You have all been put into this big

situation, where you cannot be at home, and the ones who are, their

house is in a mess. What has it done to the community? We are all

split all over the place, some people are still living in a hotel.

Among those put in a hotel were Janet Ferreira and her disabled

mother, Norah. They arrived with just the clothes they were wearing

when they were forced to evacuate. The first night in the hotel, I was

full of dust and glass from the accident. I jumped in the shower

and realised I did not have anything to get changed into. I did

not have a brush, hair dryer, anything. Just things that make you

feel normal. We had no handbags, shoes, clothes, underwear, nothing.

Everything that we own is in the houses. It is difficult. You know

it is there that you cannot get it.. How has it been for your living in

the hotel, Norah? I hate not going out on my scooter, up to Shaw, and

seeing all of my friends. It has been very hard for her. It makes me

angry, and I cannot do anything. She is the only one that can do it.

When I hear her crying at night, it breaks my heart. It is unbelievable.

And the dog is in Bury, with the RSPCA, we have not seen him since

it happened. Everything seems to be going wrong. We do not seem to be

getting anywhere with anything. the hotel, I can see that you have

tried to make it as homely as you can. When I got the keys back, and

went to get my dad's picture for my mother, because she always has that

on the side. They were never separated all of their married life.

I got that for my mum, to make her feel more at home. Four months on,

and they have taken down some of the boarding, but as you can see,

the devastation remains. In October, I go and see Jackie Hunter in her

rented house, and it is evident that she is still really struggling

to come to terms with what has happened. This is where I am

sleeping. How come you're sleeping downstairs? I am too frightened to

go upstairs on my own at the moment. Perhaps when I get back to my own

house, I will feel better. But here, I feel as though I need the escape

of the front door, and a patio door, so I can get out quick.. Howl on

your nerves? Just about, at the moment. IMC in somebody from victim

support, who has been helping us. - - I am seeing somebody. He did a

test, and he feels that I am suffering from post-traumatic

stress, which I did not think would be the case. I thought it was just

the Army, being at war, I did not realise that I would be involved in

anything like that. But I am having dreadful nightmares, absolutely

awful, like my leg has been blown off. And it does not look like

Janet and Norah will be home any time soon. But at least they are

out of the hotel and in a rented house. The houses are OK, it does

not feel like home. So, we cannot actually do anything to it. We just

have to stay in it the way it he's. Do you know how long it will be

before you are back home? It will be after Christmas, definitely,

because they have not started yet. Apparently when you have an

earthquake, or the ground moves, then the Willington and the bugs

come alive. So all the houses which were in the explosion are being

fumigated, one by one. -- then the fleas. It is incredible when you

look around. Yes, it is really bad, and it is dangerous. A few days ago,

we were given exclusive access to Buckley Street. We took Jackie

Hunter back to the site of the explosion in it you can see the

devastation. I had lived here since 1989. It is just like a bomb site.

It is awful. You had hoped to be back by Christmas. Yes, but it is

going to be January. But that is what I am going to be leaving

behind. So even when you are back, you will be behind those fences,

how did this field? Awful. -- how does that feel?. It has been

incredible coming down here, it shows how your life can change

every night. Yes, and I have felt that every day. I knew when I came

running out of my house, I knew the devastation that had taken place. I

knew that my life would never get back to normal. I am still having

nightmares. But ask me if I would still live in Shaw, I chose Shaw. I

could have lived anywhere in the world, and I am still proud of Shaw.

And I am proud of the people that have come through one of this. --

through all of this. Coming up, the actor more famous in India than in

her home city of Liverpool. He claims to have a phone link to the

spirits of people who have moved on. He says he has proved that we do

not die. His name is Stephen Holbrook, and thousands of people

across the North believe in him, but he's here genuine medium, who

hears voices, or is he using traditional entertainer's

techniques? Chris Jackson has been putting his techniques to the test.

Central Leeds, a member of our team, wearing a secret camera, is on the

way to film a man who says he has a phone link to the dead. This is

Stephen Holbrook, and that is his stiff left hand. It is like wood.

Sometimes it turns blue. It is a sign that Archie, Stephen's day

spirit guide, is on the phone. He says he channels messages, just

like a telephone. He reverses the charges, and his audience pays

premium rates. Activists from the Newcastle and Mersey side Skeptics

Societies, fresh from checking out Stephen's performance, are not

impressed. He is about as clairvoyant as a teapot. He is not

psychic. So, who is right? Stephen Holbrook says he can genuinely hear

the spirits, and he claims that his powers prove there is life after

death. Or the sceptics, who say he is an entertainment performer,

using magician's tricks? It is important, because if Stephen's

telephone carries nuisance calls, and Archie and the spirits are not

real, there is a problem with the law. If it is misleading

information to consumers, causing people to do something that would

not otherwise have done, such as buying a ticket or travelling to an

event, then there could potentially be a criminal offence. Some mediums

say the performance is for entertainment purposes only. Is

that sufficient? If he is actually saying, I am an entertainer, a

magician, using cold reading techniques, and I cannot actually

communicate with the spirit world, and that is what he needs to say.

But Stephen never says it is just for entertainment. He repeated the

Stephen's performance. They all say he's using traditional

magician's techniques. By throwing out a random date he'll

get a strong chance of a hit with Random pieces of information that

people are going to launch on to. It's taken a little bit of

information, scattering it around to a big audience, to a big grup of

people, and finding that one person -- group of people and finding that

one person. You look at someone and you read

their expressions. You think what is statistically likely to happen

with that people. At the end, the audience will believe he asked no

other questions and people answer only yes or no. Now Kennedy shows

how easily it is done. He asked people to write down the name of

somebody they haven't seen for a Kennedy will tell them the name

using classic magician's tricks. He guesses their personal details

using a cold reading. This is the person with the dark hair, yes?

This sort of length? Yes. Why is she saying about the dogs? It makes

more sense to you than me. Something to do with the dogs?

That's creepy. What happened? I used to work, sometimes we use to

get puppies in who were training. It's Doreen or Doriane.

My ex-boss. She died about four years ago. I'm not psychic, but I

am able to work out things about people by your reaction. So they

all think Stephen is putting on an act. Stephen - for such a good

talker, he turned remarkably quiet. He gave us a statement which said,

he will never succumb to cold reading. His questions are for

clarification of the facts and our experts are not in the least bit

qualified to judge his work. It said Stephen did not advertise them

as entertainment shows because they were genuine. While he told us that

he changed his website to say they were for entertainment only. He

would not explain that contradiction. Stranger still, the

messages he received on the psychic phone from Ellis's fictional dead

boyfriend. Remember - the one she made up. His statement said, that

was an appalling example of theft because the spirit's message was

real and meant for another person. Ellis had stolen it. He would not

exwhy the spirit didn't just say, no, that's not my ex-girlfriend. We

have presented evidence suggesting he east not the real thing. He uses

techniques employed by entertainers. He now admits on his website he is

an entertainer. For years, Stephen Holbrook made a lot of money

exploiting people's grief. Some may get comfort from what he does. They

need to consider the tricks of the Now the glamour of Bollywood seems

a million miles away to us here in the Northwest. One actress from

here in Liverpool is on the front cover of glossy magazines in India

and is forging a career in the multi-million dollar movie industry.

Nazia Mogra has been on set with the girl from Woolton, who is set

to take Bollywood by storm. Amy Jackson may not be a household

name in the UK, but in India, her films have been seen by millions of

the Tamil-speaking film industry in the south of India. If Amy crooks

Bollywood, in Mumbai, she could become an international film star.

If she made it into Bollywood, we are talking big time. It is shown

around the world. It doesn't feel real. I can't actually believe I'm

doing these things. I thought I'd never, ever end up on the cover of

Vogue. That's every girl's dream. And what makes Amy Jackson's rise

to fame in India more surprising is she is not Asian. She was in fact

born in the Isle of Man and grew up in Liverpool.

Girls this age would fly the nest and fly to university, but Amy has

flown to India. On the other side of the world to. Be honest, at

first, I was heart broken. Inside, I never let mer know that, now I

can. Because I have got over that rench of her going. What is it like

having a daughter so famous in India? Bad. Inside, I am so proud

of her. And tonight, Inside Out is going

exclusively behind the scenes on the set of her latest film. The

movie is set in London and filming has been taking place at some of

the capital's famous landmarks. is fabulous. This is the first time

I have shot here. What is amazing is yesterday we shot in Trafalgar

Square, which is ten times as busy as this. We had hundreds of crowds

gathering, watching. I am not the most confident dancer. It is all

about the moves. So that put the nerves on a bit. Today, we have a

slightly more relaxed atmosphere here on the bridge. You get stopped

while you are walking and try to do a dance scene. Lots of people are

curious. There are lots of Asians on holiday and also living here who

have seen a couple of my movies. I was shocked because I didn't

realise how big it was back in the UK and worldwide.

It's been a massive rise to fame. She was spotted by an Indian film

director on the internet after winning the Miss Teen World

competition. The director saw me on the Miss Teen World website. That

was it. He flew to England. He said I had the ideal look for his movie.

A week later I was shooting for my first South Indian movie.

Behind me, Amy is getting ready for her next scene on this city's

biggest landmark - the London Eye. The film is a thriller about a

British-born Indian girl, who wins Miss London and gets drawn into a

spying conspiracy. It is made for the Tamil equivalent of Bollywood.

She has had to learn to speak Hindu and India. It is a Tamil movie. It

is difficult. It is a bit like abrupt. It is taking time for me to

get used to it. How long do you have to learn those

all-important lines then? Tamil? How long do I get? They usually

give them to me on the spot. If I am lucky I'll get a couple of hours

beforehand. It is a big challenge for a white English actress to play

a lead role in an Indian film. Not everyone approves. She's entering a

global film market. It is a global film market, just like Bollywood.

It shouldn't matter what background the actor or actress is, so long as

he or she looks the part. These cinema-goers at the Trafford Centre

know who Amy Jackson is. How do they feel about a western actress

staring in the Indian films? It is a mixed society now. It is great to

see it in Bollywood films. It is not just about Indian people.

Do you think Amy will be a huge success? She should be. She's

really pretty. You are obviously a British girl with pale skin, do

they have to make you up, make you tanned? In my last movie they

bronzed me slightly. But you know, the majority of the actresses, they

completely stay out of the sun and they are not tanned whatsoever.

Where over here, everybody likes to be tanned and bronzed, back in

India, it is the complete opposite. Isn't it beautiful, Liverpool?

is. It has some gorgeous architecture. Amy is currently

living in Mumbai, but filming in the UK has meant she's been able to

spend time seeing family and friends back home in Liverpool.

Every time I come back and I feel very nostalgic I think of home,

it's always on my mind. It's great to be back seeing family and

friends. She especially missed her parents

and sister while living in India. have a great mum. She came over and

she spent the first three months with me in Mumbai.

Amy's mum has been by her side during long filming days in the UK.

I'm there for her when ever she needs me. It's OK. It works out OK,

doesn't it? She puts up with my mood swings and things. She takes

it. If she gets bad tempered she takes it out on me. But I don't

mean it! Is it is like for you being on a film set of a Kollywood

movie? Is it a bit surreal? To be honest, I never thought in my

wildest dreams I would be here today and I never thought I would

have a famous daughter, but I have. Being her mum, I think she's really

beautiful. I really do. You're going to be on camera now.

Nice to meet you. So nice to meet you. In Liverpool Amy can walk

around virtually unnoticed apart from Indian tourists who are

surprised to come across a star on the dock. This would be impossible

for Amy to do in Mumbai. I can go out with my hair in a bun and sweat

pants, but in India I would be traumatised if I got caught looking

like that. It is nice to actually be able to come home and relax and

just be me. So what is next for Amy Jackson? If

she can conquer this, the sky's the limit. It is something I could not

turn down. It was huge. So far it's Do you know what, if she leads a

leading man, I have been working on my moves!
