On this week's Inside Out, West Midlands, a classified ad site

:00:08.:00:10.

I work for the BBC and we are trying to find out, mate, why

:00:11.:00:16.

Also on the show, one mother's fight to reduce the toll

:00:17.:00:22.

Olympic Gold Medallist Adam Peaty is in Zambia helping young people

:00:23.:00:35.

The legacy for me is one of the most important things.

:00:36.:00:40.

and world records but it is how you inspire

:00:41.:00:49.

Tonight we're in Uttoxeter, later on we will be finding out

:00:50.:01:07.

about Adam Peaty who calls this place home.

:01:08.:01:12.

But first shocking findings about an investigation into illegal

:01:13.:01:14.

We have already done similar investigations

:01:15.:01:21.

ads website has been hijacked by criminals.

:01:22.:01:29.

As an investigative journalist, it is sometimes easier to work

:01:30.:01:36.

When people are not watching what you are doing.

:01:37.:01:40.

If you are looking for something illegal, it is the go to part

:01:41.:01:47.

of the internet which is hidden from prying eyes.

:01:48.:01:51.

The place where criminals use an encrypted website

:01:52.:01:54.

You don't need to bother with all that.

:01:55.:02:02.

You are wasting your time with that, mate.

:02:03.:02:04.

It was setup in America by a called Craig.

:02:05.:02:33.

It is a website where people buy and sell everything

:02:34.:02:36.

Just say where you live and get started.

:02:37.:02:39.

Lots of the stuff on craigslist will not be in your local newspaper,

:02:40.:02:43.

The kind of thing you usually buy from a dodgy geezer outside

:02:44.:02:53.

They are packed but they cannot resell them in shops anymore.

:02:54.:03:06.

He is just a middleman, he says his supplier

:03:07.:03:17.

That is why I have come to another car park,

:03:18.:03:30.

That's why his tobacco is a third of the price of the real stuff.

:03:31.:03:44.

There is a difference because counterfeit goods are among

:03:45.:03:52.

the things craigslist says you're not supposed to sell on its website.

:03:53.:03:56.

It is as easy to find marijuana on craigslist

:03:57.:04:11.

What I am buying next could knock you off your feet.

:04:12.:04:22.

I am on a derby estate to meet Stephen, selling

:04:23.:04:24.

The deal done in seconds but is it the real deal?

:04:25.:04:34.

It turns out as street cocaine goes, it is pure stuff.

:04:35.:04:39.

An internet company allows elements onto their website.

:04:40.:05:00.

If you have made money from crime, you would not want the police

:05:01.:05:03.

to find it and you need someone to Hend it, perhaps

:05:04.:05:06.

It is called money laundering but where would I find

:05:07.:05:10.

On a street corner, I am meeting Stacey.

:05:11.:05:12.

She is offering her bank account and craigslist to anyone

:05:13.:05:20.

But we are walking into the bank to pay in what I told her

:05:21.:05:31.

She would charge me a fee to get it back and there are plenty people

:05:32.:05:36.

on craigslist who will do the same thing.

:05:37.:05:38.

Sometimes with overseas bank accounts.

:05:39.:05:41.

If you send your money overseas, how'd you get it back?

:05:42.:05:47.

What you need is a new identity or somebody's else's.

:05:48.:05:49.

The place where I can find a stolen passport.

:05:50.:06:07.

There are plenty more where that came from.

:06:08.:06:19.

I've known some stories where it has taken people ten

:06:20.:06:21.

rating back again after it has been trashed by people

:06:22.:06:25.

who sold their identity but it will allow you to get

:06:26.:06:27.

It is not just about selling stuff, there are adverts to the postman

:06:28.:06:37.

to steal the letters they are supposed to be delivering.

:06:38.:06:44.

And on craigslist there's also disorganised crime.

:06:45.:06:47.

This man wants somebody to pass his driving theory test for him.

:06:48.:06:50.

For 50 quid, it is not that black and white.

:06:51.:07:00.

For a start he is black and I am white, surely someone will notice.

:07:01.:07:05.

They will check your photo against a database.

:07:06.:07:12.

When I later revealed I was a journalist,

:07:13.:07:24.

In fact, when I asked for an interview, this

:07:25.:07:31.

That came from the top, the chief executive's office.

:07:32.:07:40.

They are making money and whilst no one is forcing them to try

:07:41.:07:43.

and change what is going on, they are running sites like this

:07:44.:07:48.

using the ostrich effect, sticking their heads in the sand.

:07:49.:07:53.

No wonder criminals can carry on regardless,

:07:54.:07:57.

unless they are reselling to a journalist.

:07:58.:08:00.

If you turn around and face the camera.

:08:01.:08:06.

I would like to know why you are offering to sell...

:08:07.:08:09.

He is not the only one thinking about his relatives.

:08:10.:08:16.

I am trying to make money for my family.

:08:17.:08:23.

Take a good look at my cocaine dealer because he is

:08:24.:08:27.

I work for the BBC and we are trying to find out why

:08:28.:08:32.

I'm trying to find out why you are willing to launder money

:08:33.:08:55.

for people, why you are doing that, Stacey?

:08:56.:09:00.

You knew it was risky, would you like to explain?

:09:01.:09:07.

I'm not buying a passport off you because I work for the BBC.

:09:08.:09:18.

I want to know why you are selling stolen passports?

:09:19.:09:20.

Why are you selling stolen passports?

:09:21.:09:23.

There is organised crime sitting behind everything.

:09:24.:09:28.

It is critical that the police or the law enforcement agencies

:09:29.:09:30.

force the likes of craigslist to do something about this.

:09:31.:09:36.

When we asked to interview a minister, the Home Office said...

:09:37.:09:50.

We have kind of done that for them already.

:09:51.:09:55.

So perhaps it is time the government forced websites like craigslist

:09:56.:10:00.

If you would like to get in touch on anything you have seen the show,

:10:01.:10:11.

Next tonight, three quarters of people who

:10:12.:10:33.

Next tonight, three quarters of people who take their own lives

:10:34.:10:36.

A year ago, Josh Smith killed himself.

:10:37.:10:38.

Now his mother is trying to prevent other tragedies.

:10:39.:10:43.

He d got a lot of interests, and then there was his gardening.

:10:44.:10:46.

I think he was one of the nicest people I know, or knew.

:10:47.:11:05.

A year ago Sarah Buckley was a mother of

:11:06.:11:08.

two, living with her husband and her son

:11:09.:11:13.

Josh at the family home in

:11:14.:11:14.

It is not known what direction he went in.

:11:15.:11:20.

His family believe he may have walked to a

:11:21.:11:22.

Tuesday the 25th of October, the last time he

:11:23.:11:32.

I came down the stairs and he had made his

:11:33.:11:42.

That was the last time that I saw Joshua or

:11:43.:11:46.

Friends and family searched for nearly four weeks.

:11:47.:11:52.

His body was eventually found near canal, three miles

:11:53.:11:55.

Josh had taken an overdose and tried to take his life before.

:11:56.:12:05.

In the lead up to his death, his family

:12:06.:12:07.

became increasingly worried about his mental health.

:12:08.:12:10.

They wanted help but they did not think enough was

:12:11.:12:14.

being done to treat Josh's depression and

:12:15.:12:16.

Yeah, so Josh had had previous assessments.

:12:17.:12:21.

He was constantly being assessed and then move onto the next

:12:22.:12:26.

stage and then it would get pushed back to the previous stage.

:12:27.:12:29.

I just cannot believe that there is somebody so

:12:30.:12:35.

seriously suicidal at that time who had a family who were telling

:12:36.:12:38.

I cannot understand why they didn't take it

:12:39.:12:45.

If he had been given the hope that actually, this is what

:12:46.:12:54.

we could do, just that hope was what he needed.

:12:55.:13:02.

I have come to meet someone who found that hope when he

:13:03.:13:05.

Johnny Benjamin was battling complex mental health

:13:06.:13:11.

issues, but unlike Josh, someone listened.

:13:12.:13:12.

What was the turning point for you up there?

:13:13.:13:20.

The turning point for me was having someone who listened, like

:13:21.:13:29.

Listened in a way that was being very empathetic.

:13:30.:13:39.

Everyone I have spoken to before would say,

:13:40.:13:42.

right, we need to do this

:13:43.:13:44.

and this, medication - but he was like, that is OK, fine,

:13:45.:13:47.

The real turning point was having someone say to me,

:13:48.:13:52.

look, mate, you are going to be all right.

:13:53.:13:58.

That is the moment when everything changed.

:13:59.:14:02.

Would you say that guy gave you hope?

:14:03.:14:06.

I felt different, I felt I can do this.

:14:07.:14:14.

That one conversation just a half an hour conversation on a

:14:15.:14:17.

If that can happen to me, anyone can instil

:14:18.:14:27.

It is that message that Sarah wants mental

:14:28.:14:35.

health services to really think about.

:14:36.:14:41.

She could then see some good come from the death of her son.

:14:42.:14:44.

We very much want to prevent things like

:14:45.:14:46.

this in the future and after a lot of thought, we thought the best way

:14:47.:14:50.

to achieve this is to work with the trust for young men and to make

:14:51.:14:53.

Sarah has been meeting regularly with South Staffordshire

:14:54.:14:57.

and Shropshire NHS Trust, today I am

:14:58.:14:59.

How important is it to communicate with families like

:15:00.:15:07.

Our relationship started with them in very

:15:08.:15:26.

tragic circumstances obviously with the death of Josh.

:15:27.:15:28.

Sarah has been very helpful with her time helping

:15:29.:15:30.

It is all very well being professional but the depth of

:15:31.:15:35.

understanding and experience of families is huge.

:15:36.:15:38.

What have you learned to your discussions with

:15:39.:15:40.

Make sure the staff are always providing messages of hope

:15:41.:15:47.

and that they are always compassionate and always learning,

:15:48.:15:51.

learning with the families and involving them in the process.

:15:52.:15:58.

Last year, more specialist mental health

:15:59.:15:59.

Sarah is addressing issues locally but nationally there is still a long

:16:00.:16:05.

way to go but the government has moved mental health up the agenda,

:16:06.:16:09.

We will make sure mental illness gets the

:16:10.:16:20.

funding it deserves, in technology and investment.

:16:21.:16:22.

We have worked out how many doctors, nurses and

:16:23.:16:24.

When NHS is redesigning new local solutions,

:16:25.:16:40.

mental health has to get its full weighting.

:16:41.:16:42.

This is a historic opportunity to right a wrong.

:16:43.:16:44.

But from Sarah's experience with Joshua,

:16:45.:16:46.

she really believes that tackling mental health

:16:47.:16:48.

She is convinced it needs to start in our schools, that's why she

:16:49.:16:52.

She is joining Johnny and Neil, the man

:16:53.:16:56.

who listened to him on the bridge to talk to teenagers.

:16:57.:17:00.

When you're in that place, you need someone else and he

:17:01.:17:10.

My name is Sarah and my son Joshua or Josh, died at the age of

:17:11.:17:20.

If you met him and talk to him, he would be

:17:21.:17:24.

You really need to support each other and don't be

:17:25.:17:33.

If you are having any difficulties re your physical health, you would

:17:34.:17:43.

talk to somebody, mental health is just the same but it is something

:17:44.:17:46.

Lots of the heart of everyday conversation, I think otherwise it

:17:47.:17:59.

People do not feel they can talk to other people about it and I think

:18:00.:18:07.

that is very important to catch them before they get into the real

:18:08.:18:18.

challenges that mean they find it really difficult to cope.

:18:19.:18:25.

Sharing Josh's story was not easy for Sarah

:18:26.:18:27.

but for her it is worth it if it helps another young person who may

:18:28.:18:30.

find themselves in just as dark place.

:18:31.:18:36.

If you would like to find someone to talk to, head on line.

:18:37.:18:40.

Or you can call this free telephone number.

:18:41.:18:51.

Finally tonight, Adam Peaty who is from Uttoxeter and one of

:18:52.:18:57.

Britain's greatest sportsman but he is determined to leave a legacy

:18:58.:19:02.

way beyond his own sporting achievement as Natalie Jackson has

:19:03.:19:05.

Adam Peaty, Olympic and world champion.

:19:06.:19:08.

No one has been faster than him in the history of mankind.

:19:09.:19:12.

At two events by some considerable margin.

:19:13.:19:32.

Britain has waited 40 years for a predator in the pool like him.

:19:33.:19:36.

I'm very proud to be British and I am not

:19:37.:19:42.

I think that is why I got that nickname.

:19:43.:19:47.

But what goes on behind the eyes and in the mind of an athlete

:19:48.:19:50.

He is someone we can look up to, we know we can rely on him to

:19:51.:20:01.

And what the nation does not know is the

:20:02.:20:10.

surprising sacrifice made by him and an extraordinary journey alongside

:20:11.:20:12.

his swimming which has made him the all conquering champion today.

:20:13.:20:24.

Each day he and his court are up at 6am

:20:25.:20:26.

for two three hour session six days a week.

:20:27.:20:28.

At peak training, Adam will swim seven miles a day.

:20:29.:20:32.

weeks off, what on earth is he doing in Zambia?

:20:33.:21:09.

Adam and his coach have got a team of 16

:21:10.:21:14.

friends together for a sporting challenge.

:21:15.:21:16.

Five different sports to raise 50,000 pounds.

:21:17.:21:17.

He has been out to Zambia seven times.

:21:18.:21:25.

We have been out before to raise funds.

:21:26.:21:27.

It is interesting but the problems are still the same.

:21:28.:21:33.

It is the close bond between Mel and Adam which

:21:34.:21:35.

Five years ago Adam Peaty came out here to

:21:36.:21:38.

He was just 17 taking part in a charity bike ride to raise

:21:39.:21:52.

Five years ago Adam Peaty came out here to

:21:53.:21:55.

He was just 17 taking part in a charity bike ride to raise

:21:56.:22:02.

Back then he was swimming in local pools.

:22:03.:22:05.

He has returned today as Olympic champion,

:22:06.:22:08.

making a difference to thousands of young African people.

:22:09.:22:10.

They are opening the sports centre the raised ?35,000 to build.

:22:11.:22:14.

The legacy for me is probably one of the most important things.

:22:15.:22:17.

It is about the medals and the world records but it is how you inspire

:22:18.:22:21.

millions of people around the world to do exactly what you have done.

:22:22.:22:24.

There will be pressure about being the world record-holder

:22:25.:22:26.

but you can be the best teachers and the best

:22:27.:22:28.

coaches and that is the beauty about sport.

:22:29.:22:30.

I did say to Mel, we can show you pictures of what this place

:22:31.:22:34.

This kind of thing doesn't happen in Zambia.

:22:35.:22:42.

The facility rebuilt from 2012 with ?35,000, five years ago...

:22:43.:22:45.

The whole family is going in there, taking

:22:46.:22:48.

It is so empowering maybe in a few years we

:22:49.:22:54.

This playground, the only one of its kind

:22:55.:23:06.

This is probably the best facility on a recreational

:23:07.:23:11.

This place used to be a dump for a long time.

:23:12.:23:24.

People will queue outside of here and take drugs.

:23:25.:23:26.

Now it is a playpark and people can have fun.

:23:27.:23:29.

I am going to play because I never thought I would go.

:23:30.:23:33.

Rob Day is part of the sporting challenge team and lived

:23:34.:23:51.

Extremely poor in this area, just about one tap to

:23:52.:23:57.

Kids don't have shoes, one set of clothes.

:23:58.:24:05.

Roughly 3 or 4000 people are HIV-positive.

:24:06.:24:09.

What Adam is doing out here is

:24:10.:24:11.

At 12, this boy's mother died and his family deserted

:24:12.:24:17.

We were on the streets and others came and beat up my sister.

:24:18.:24:28.

They got my sister, from that I never saw my sister again.

:24:29.:24:32.

Stephen's parents both died when he was 11.

:24:33.:24:44.

He said the sport at the centre has saved his

:24:45.:24:46.

They can be motivated and say, yes, my life can change to.

:24:47.:24:56.

If Stephen was the situation, now he is

:24:57.:24:58.

This programme with Adam does change my life.

:24:59.:25:14.

These sporting centres are more than just sport, they are

:25:15.:25:16.

The coaches and volunteers here take on the role of parents.

:25:17.:25:21.

A lot of the kids here kids ask you not even

:25:22.:25:24.

Older kids approach you about stuff at home, some of the issues like

:25:25.:25:32.

Many of the horrific stories come from girls,

:25:33.:25:39.

almost 50% of women between the age of 15 and 49 had experienced

:25:40.:25:42.

I think the youngest we had was raped, she was 13.

:25:43.:25:59.

The girl was coming from school and going home

:26:00.:26:01.

Almost half the cases of sexual violence reported to

:26:02.:26:04.

police were involving children under 16.

:26:05.:26:14.

The sporting challenge group were moved to tears on hearing about

:26:15.:26:21.

three girls left alone to sleep in a dormitory with a group of boys.

:26:22.:26:26.

The childhood is filled with rape and abuse and hitting.

:26:27.:26:37.

They make it so real there are 15 guys

:26:38.:26:52.

and three girls, they have no choice on the street.

:26:53.:26:55.

They need to create a separate girls dormitory so that is

:26:56.:26:57.

These are the programmes which are bringing my dreams back.

:26:58.:27:14.

Nobody on the streets, not knowing anything

:27:15.:27:16.

and here I am speaking with the camera.

:27:17.:27:38.

I've been very fortunate to have Mel from the UK, to realise

:27:39.:27:41.

How you translate it into a global cause

:27:42.:27:44.

and how you will help as many people as possible.

:27:45.:27:51.

If I don't teach about life as well as sport, what

:27:52.:27:53.

There are two parts to sport, the personal

:27:54.:28:01.

side and the performance side and you have to

:28:02.:28:07.

side and the performance side and you have to take care of both.

:28:08.:28:10.

Make sure you are surrounded by the real

:28:11.:28:12.

We have to help one another, we can change the world through sport.

:28:13.:28:16.

If you missed it, do not forget you can catch us on

:28:17.:28:33.

Next week, the girl with butterfly skin, the

:28:34.:28:38.

condition means her skin is as fragile as a butterfly's wing but

:28:39.:28:41.

she is becoming an inspiration to others with the same condition.

:28:42.:29:02.

go. That's it for others to night from the Medway

:29:03.:29:07.

Hello, I'm Riz Lateef with your 90 second update.

:29:08.:29:09.

The European Commission has denied a report that Theresa May

:29:10.:29:12.

"begged" the EU for help in the Brexit talks.

:29:13.:29:14.

It's claimed she appeared "anxious" during a dinner

:29:15.:29:16.

with the Commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker, last week.

:29:17.:29:20.

Drivers of older, more polluting vehicles,
