A welcome back to Gothenburg, date two. The moment of truth for some

:00:16.:00:20.

of Britain's brightest stars. In the women's pole vault, Holly

:00:20.:00:24.

Bleasdale has been on brilliant form this season. She will have her

:00:24.:00:28.

eyes on gold. Shara Proctor goes in the women's long jump. After a

:00:28.:00:36.

brilliant performance in Birmingham, she will have high hopes. Robbie

:00:36.:00:41.

Grabarz will be looking to do the business in the men's high jump.

:00:41.:00:46.

While on the track it's the turn of the speed merchants, the men's 60m

:00:46.:00:56.
:00:56.:00:59.

- an event in which Britain has Christie gets the gold. Hears the

:00:59.:01:09.
:01:09.:01:13.

European number one. Jackson under Chambers winning it, he's got what

:01:13.:01:22.

Welcome back to the Scandinavium Arena, a venue which has seen its

:01:22.:01:26.

fair share of British success through the years. Not just

:01:26.:01:29.

athletics but ice-skating as well with John Curry and Robin Cousins

:01:29.:01:33.

both winning gold here. One athlete who won't be winning goal this

:01:33.:01:35.

afternoon is Dwain Chambers, he failed to progress through the

:01:35.:01:40.

rounds of the 60m. British glory hopes are still very much on the

:01:40.:01:50.
:01:50.:01:53.

Shara Proctor. Holly Bleasdale, she sails over this time. It is bronze

:01:53.:02:03.
:02:03.:02:04.

for Britain. Perri Shakes-Drayton has taken this field apart. Eilidh

:02:04.:02:13.

Child of Scotland looking Supreme. Chana Cox is still leading. --

:02:13.:02:21.

Shala Cox. Mukhtar Mohamed of Great Britain in the perfect place. Jenny

:02:21.:02:31.
:02:31.:02:40.

Meadows is going to win this one. hours ahead of us. Those three big

:02:40.:02:46.

field events coming up first. Shara Proctor, Hala -- Holly Bleasdale

:02:46.:02:51.

and Robbie Grabarz. Then we have the women's 400m semi-final. Perri

:02:52.:02:58.

Shakes-Drayton, Shana Cox and Eilidh Child. And then the men's

:02:58.:03:04.

800m semi-finals. No Michael Rimmer, but Joe Thomas and Mukhtar Mohamed

:03:04.:03:12.

are there. No Dwain Chambers. A kind so Beattie will be going in

:03:12.:03:22.
:03:22.:03:45.

be captain Jenny Meadows in the I couldn't come to Gothenburg

:03:45.:03:49.

without catching up with my friend and erstwhile rival, Christian

:03:49.:03:55.

Olsson, the Olympic triple-jump champion back in 2004. We caught up

:03:55.:04:05.
:04:05.:04:05.

on old times. It's a very familiar Good afternoon to Denise Lewis,

:04:05.:04:10.

Colin Jackson and Paula Radcliffe. Lobster look forward to and also to

:04:10.:04:14.

look back from this morning's session. But first we are going to

:04:14.:04:17.

reflect on the closing of the Don Valley Stadium. Sheffield City

:04:17.:04:23.

Council have made the decision to demolish it. Denise, very emotive,

:04:23.:04:28.

Olympic legacy and Jess Ennis trains there. Yes, she trains there.

:04:28.:04:31.

But Post Olympics, it's not the legacy, the athletics legacy we'd

:04:31.:04:36.

like to see. It's a very sad day, very disappointing. The local

:04:36.:04:40.

authorities have issues with funding and having to maintain a

:04:40.:04:44.

facility of that scale. But when I think about when I was a young kid,

:04:44.:04:48.

walking into the first big stadium that I've ever walked into, I was

:04:49.:04:54.

inspired. It was the first taste of athletics and that sat for me.

:04:54.:04:57.

difficult for us to be objective about it because we do have

:04:57.:05:03.

personal memories. Absolutely. I ran my fastest ever 110 metres

:05:03.:05:10.

hurdles in the UK at that very stadium. 13.02. It has a certain

:05:11.:05:15.

place and my heart but you are always disappointed when a major

:05:15.:05:18.

athletics stadium banishes off the map because there is nothing to

:05:18.:05:23.

replace it of that scale and in that area in the UK. What about you,

:05:23.:05:27.

what you're feeling about it? It's a very difficult decision for

:05:27.:05:31.

Sheffield council because they are aware of the broader PR and how it

:05:31.:05:36.

affects how people see them. It's symbolic of the state of track and

:05:36.:05:39.

field and athletics in Britain as well. It's the end of an era. Big

:05:39.:05:45.

city stadiums that we could fill an kids could go down to an train. We

:05:45.:05:48.

talk about the legacy of the Olympics and how people were

:05:48.:05:51.

inspired but the actual numbers aren't going up in athletics. The

:05:51.:05:55.

number of kids going down to local tracks is an increasing and we need

:05:55.:06:00.

to do something about that. 700,000 a year was the figure that

:06:00.:06:05.

Sheffield City Council talked about subsidising this venue. In the

:06:05.:06:08.

light of Kat, Denise, it's obviously been a very difficult

:06:08.:06:15.

decision for them, they've got a decaying stadium - what do you do?

:06:16.:06:19.

Absolutely. We are passionate and talking about athletics, but that

:06:19.:06:23.

only serves a small part of the community. It's not an easy

:06:23.:06:29.

decision but, you know, they've had to make it and it's sad. It's also

:06:29.:06:32.

worth saying that there is another facility they are putting money

:06:33.:06:37.

into. Sheffield will still have a track. Yes, it will be on a much

:06:37.:06:44.

smaller scale. The running cost of that is about 60,000 a year. For

:06:44.:06:46.

them to use and to run, it's far more feasible for them. We

:06:47.:06:52.

understand that but we all feel it a little bit. We do. I had my

:06:52.:06:58.

furthest triple-jump there as well, 18.08, wind-assisted. We are

:06:58.:07:08.
:07:08.:07:09.

this season has seen her climb to third in the women's 400. A supreme

:07:09.:07:15.

confidence was evident in round one. She looks really good, great form

:07:15.:07:21.

this winter. Set her store out to do well individually on the Flat.

:07:21.:07:25.

Not just wanting to be part of the relay squad. This is a really

:07:25.:07:31.

strong performance from Perri in the first round. 51.70. That's not

:07:31.:07:41.
:07:41.:07:41.

a bad start at all. Eilidh Child has tucked herself in behind Perri

:07:41.:07:47.

on that UK list this season, and she took continued to shine. It

:07:47.:07:52.

wasn't a victorious outcome for Shana Cox, but he did enough in

:07:52.:07:58.

coming third in her heat to progress as a fastest loser. A

:07:58.:08:01.

strong British contingent in the men's 400, where Richard Strachan

:08:01.:08:10.

was strong and aggressive as he soared to a semi-final place.

:08:10.:08:19.

surge from the Ukrainian. Strachan, look at Jordier. He pushes Juarez

:08:19.:08:24.

in the back and he goes off into lane six. The first two will go

:08:24.:08:28.

through. Good, strong, solid performance, did what he needed to

:08:28.:08:33.

do. Nigel Levine was the winning star of the show at the recent

:08:33.:08:39.

Birmingham Grand Prix. He admitted his confidence was put in check by

:08:39.:08:43.

Maslak, beating him in their heat. While Michael Bingham was back in a

:08:43.:08:47.

British vest and managed to avoid some early bumping and barging to

:08:47.:08:53.

take his place in the semi-finals as well. Shara Proctor was a world

:08:53.:08:56.

indoor medallist last year and has designs on another podium finish

:08:56.:09:02.

after leaping into the final with a very first jump of 6.61. Robbie

:09:02.:09:06.

Grabarz confessed he was surprised to find a clearance of 2.23 was

:09:06.:09:11.

enough to earn him a final place. But the Olympic bronze medallist

:09:11.:09:16.

promised there are greater heights to come. Holly Bleasdale is in a

:09:16.:09:19.

similar position to Proctor. Medallist at the world's last year,

:09:19.:09:24.

a favourite to follow suit this year at the Europeans. She was

:09:24.:09:31.

impressively clear up of 4.56 and has Golden hopes now. Laura Muir

:09:31.:09:34.

won her first G B Senior best in her native Scotland in January. But

:09:34.:09:39.

this 3000 metre heats was a big step up in class. Moram you're

:09:39.:09:42.

doing her best here. That's the world indoor record holder she's

:09:42.:09:48.

trying to get past. Laura Muir of Scotland, just 19. Wright appeared

:09:48.:09:54.

with two world class athletes. Look at Boroughmuir. She's got to get in

:09:54.:09:59.

the top to mark up. If she does that she will be through. What a

:09:59.:10:03.

great run by the youngster. Rodriguez wins it and Laura Muir,

:10:03.:10:12.

the race of her life. Bouncing back from shoulder and knee injuries,

:10:12.:10:16.

world indoor champion Yamile Aldama is improving with every competition

:10:16.:10:21.

and make the final with her first round jump of 13.92. Jo Thomas has

:10:21.:10:26.

shaken off a cold and looks hot to trot in the men's 800m. His main

:10:26.:10:30.

passion is rock music but he's on a roll with his athletics as well.

:10:30.:10:33.

These championships on a new experience for Mukhtar Mohamed.

:10:33.:10:38.

After showing his naivety at first, he regained control and ran through

:10:38.:10:42.

to the semi-finals. Michael Rimmer won the Birmingham Grand Prix 800m

:10:42.:10:46.

in a European leading time. At times can count for little in

:10:46.:10:53.

Championships, as he found to his cost. It's the Belorussian out in

:10:53.:10:58.

front. Cameramen get there? I don't think he's going to be able to.

:10:58.:11:03.

He's going to have to rely on a fastest loser. Michael Rimmer not

:11:03.:11:10.

getting that one light at -- that one right at all. After an injury

:11:10.:11:15.

wrecked 2012, Jenny Meadows was back to defend her 800m title, and

:11:15.:11:20.

the team captain hoped to lead by example. This is where the lack of

:11:20.:11:23.

training might come into play here, because you can't really switch

:11:23.:11:28.

through the gears in the same way. That determination which she's

:11:28.:11:37.

always had is still there. Jenny is safely through in third. A few more

:11:37.:11:47.
:11:47.:12:01.

Nevin Yannick won the race for Turkey in a European leading time

:12:01.:12:10.

of 7.89 - also a national record. O'Rourke was fourth, just one

:12:10.:12:16.

hundredth outside a medal. James Dasaolu was impressive in the first

:12:16.:12:21.

round of the men's 60m. Qualifying comfortably in his European Indoor

:12:21.:12:31.
:12:31.:12:32.

before, though. But he now has a new coach and new ambitions to

:12:32.:12:42.
:12:42.:12:43.

resurrect a career that somewhat stalled in 2012. -- Harry a kind so

:12:43.:12:47.

we did. As Goodwin Chambers, he had endured in injury hit build-up to

:12:47.:12:57.
:12:57.:13:02.

position. He may well get through as one of the fastest losers, but

:13:02.:13:06.

Dwain Chambers still clearly not approaching his best form. This

:13:06.:13:13.

isn't going to be his championship unless something dramatic happens.

:13:13.:13:17.

His frustration and anger were on full show at the finish. A wounded

:13:17.:13:25.

He walked past Phil Jones without offering a comment yesterday but he

:13:25.:13:35.
:13:35.:13:36.

did come back today and this is $:/STARTFEED. Can you put into

:13:36.:13:40.

words how you feel a day on? Unfortunately I ran out of time. It

:13:40.:13:44.

was a gamble between getting myself ready for the Championships and

:13:44.:13:49.

trying to get myself pain-free. I had to be smart enough to get

:13:49.:13:51.

myself pain-free and hopefully my ability would have been sufficient

:13:51.:13:58.

enough to get me through these Championships. It didn't happen.

:13:58.:14:02.

Hindsight is always 2020, do you regret doing it the way you did?

:14:02.:14:07.

wish I had - in hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have come here. I have

:14:07.:14:10.

never been injured in my whole career. This is the first time for

:14:10.:14:14.

me. If I ever get myself in this situation again, I will pull out

:14:14.:14:17.

and give somebody else an opportunity. On the start line, are

:14:17.:14:24.

you the person that wouldn't put yourself there if you didn't think

:14:24.:14:33.

you could do it? That's it. I was in a good position for these

:14:33.:14:38.

Championships. I didn't know how to deal with that. It is frustrating

:14:38.:14:43.

to know so many people put time and effort in to get me ready for this

:14:43.:14:48.

Championships. Peter Eriksson believed I was good enough to

:14:48.:14:52.

perform. Sorry I let them down. that what came boiling over at the

:14:52.:14:57.

end? Yeah, I care about what I do. It is important to show those

:14:57.:15:02.

emotions in a certain way. It shows you care. I wear my heart on my

:15:02.:15:06.

sleeves. It is something I work really hard for. At this level of

:15:06.:15:09.

sport, success and failure go hand in hand, so you have to treat them

:15:09.:15:13.

the same. Underperforming at this stage is unacceptable. I don't

:15:13.:15:17.

accept running 6.78. That is not me. That is why I had an outburst like

:15:17.:15:22.

that. I didn't want to do that. It showed that I was mad at my

:15:22.:15:27.

performances. We know you care. I know you have said that you have

:15:27.:15:30.

always wanted to set a good example. I wonder whether you regret

:15:30.:15:36.

throwing your shirt down and any kids watching, your own included.

:15:36.:15:42.

Maybe that was not the best thing to do? Maybe not. It shows somebody

:15:42.:15:47.

who is passionate about what they do and it shows a desire as a

:15:47.:15:53.

sportsman. No athlete should accept running like that. If they don't

:15:53.:15:57.

show that emotion, whether it is on the track, or in their room, it is

:15:57.:16:01.

a natural reaction of a sportsman. I purely think it is a natural

:16:01.:16:05.

reaction of any human being who cares about what they do. You have

:16:05.:16:12.

to look at it in the situation it is. I was frustrated. It shows you

:16:12.:16:16.

have fire in your belly still going forward. You have had this

:16:16.:16:20.

experience. You have had injuries which you have not had to deal with

:16:20.:16:24.

before. So you have the fight going forward? I expect better of myself.

:16:24.:16:29.

I have had a lot of time and effort put in to me to get here. It is not

:16:29.:16:34.

just about me, it is about representing my country and

:16:34.:16:36.

improving our opportunities to compete against the best. I failed

:16:36.:16:44.

to do that. We appreciate you talking to us. Thank you. Thank you.

:16:44.:16:49.

Disappointed Dwain Chambers. Colin, it's because of his past that he is

:16:49.:16:54.

under the microscope more than most athletes. And the bigger news here

:16:54.:16:59.

was his reaction rather than his run, wasn't it? Yes. He said

:16:59.:17:02.

himself the reason - he gave a clear reason as to why he reacted

:17:02.:17:05.

that way. He has drive, determination and he underperformed.

:17:05.:17:10.

He wanted to express that. That is the way he felt. It was fair enough

:17:10.:17:14.

for him to express that. Different strokes for different folks. Some

:17:14.:17:18.

would have given an interview to Phil and explained the reasons why.

:17:18.:17:27.

He said he came here knowing he was 50/50. He struggled to raise his

:17:27.:17:32.

game. To give someone a day to reflect on what happened, I think

:17:32.:17:37.

it was a good idea. He would have said a different story if we had

:17:37.:17:43.

spoken to him yesterday. It is quite interesting that he felt a

:17:43.:17:47.

freedom to be himself. He is aware that people love to hate him and

:17:47.:17:51.

people are watching his every action? He is very aware of that.

:17:51.:17:55.

It comes across in his interview. He is aware of the fact that he

:17:55.:18:00.

wasn't a good role model to young sprinters coming through with what

:18:00.:18:05.

happened and he's gone some ways to try and do something about that.

:18:05.:18:11.

It's hard because he's always put up as the poster child for doping

:18:11.:18:18.

bans and spending time out. In many ways he has paid a lot higher price

:18:18.:18:21.

than many others. At the same time, he did do something wrong and he

:18:21.:18:26.

had to pay. We are not forgiving him for that. You can understand

:18:26.:18:34.

why he does feel this pressure to maybe have been not acting, but

:18:34.:18:38.

being the extra nice guy and not losing his temper. Now he seems to

:18:38.:18:42.

have relaxed. It was a big frustration, too. You question the

:18:42.:18:48.

guidance of coaches who know he has not been able to train. He says it

:18:48.:18:51.

is the first time he's been injured so it's been difficult for him. You

:18:51.:18:57.

know coming in whether you are in shape or not in shape. When there

:18:57.:19:01.

are others waiting who could have had their chance, should the

:19:01.:19:07.

coaches have thought about that? Sometimes as an athlete, I think

:19:07.:19:11.

sometimes you think I'm going to tap into something from experience

:19:11.:19:16.

that I have that can bring me through. Absolutely. It didn't work

:19:16.:19:20.

this time. That is where the coach should have seen that from the

:19:20.:19:25.

outside. What is interesting is that they did have that confidence

:19:25.:19:28.

in him and he has delivered in the past. They looked at him and

:19:28.:19:32.

thought he was the best of the bunch and was more likely, Colin,

:19:32.:19:36.

to deliver than anybody else? the top of his game, he is the

:19:36.:19:44.

third fastest 60m runner of all time. If you work out on

:19:44.:19:48.

percentages, you still think he is going to go under 6.60. It hugely

:19:48.:19:52.

backfired this time. It is a very difficult choice selectors have to

:19:52.:19:58.

make. They look at realistic targets and they think of what

:19:58.:20:03.

people's potentials are and they just try and weigh it up. Do you

:20:03.:20:08.

give somebody of youth the chance and they underperform and it

:20:08.:20:12.

shatters their career for another six years, or do you allow someone

:20:12.:20:16.

like Dwain Chambers to perform the way he performed? We all know that

:20:16.:20:21.

won't be the Dwain Chambers we will be talking about when he is healthy.

:20:21.:20:28.

That was the men's 60m heats yesterday. This morning, we saw the

:20:28.:20:37.

women's 60m heats. That meant an women's 60m heats. That meant an

:20:37.:20:41.

appearance for Asha Philip. Steve Cram can describe the action for us.

:20:41.:20:51.
:20:51.:21:14.

She needs to come in the top four A good performance - 7.13. That's

:21:14.:21:22.

setting the benchmark. Cechova is pleased to come in the top three. A

:21:22.:21:27.

good performance from Asha Philip. Let's clarify all of that. A new

:21:27.:21:37.
:21:37.:21:50.

is good to get the nerves out of is good to get the nerves out of

:21:50.:21:58.

the way? Definitely. I was in lane eight. To come out with my fastest,

:21:58.:22:04.

I'm elated. I'm really happy. been a long road back. Six years

:22:04.:22:08.

since you won that global title the first female woman to do that. What

:22:08.:22:13.

does it mean to be here? It is amazing. Like, you forget how it

:22:13.:22:17.

was like and how the team is. Now I'm back in it, I don't want to

:22:17.:22:20.

ever leave. I will keep it and stay here. With performances like that,

:22:20.:22:25.

it must be good for you. You feel like you belong again? I definitely

:22:25.:22:35.

do. A busy day for you tomorrow. We wish you well. Thank you.

:22:35.:22:42.

Hello, home team! We can take the isolated shot of Asha. A bit of

:22:42.:22:47.

pressure on her after that performance in Berlin, Denise?

:22:47.:22:51.

ran well. She has been consistent. I think it's so nice to see her

:22:51.:22:55.

coming back. She realises she's got to step up, she's got to perform

:22:55.:23:00.

here. There are some very quick girls out in the 60m. We saw a lot

:23:00.:23:04.

of personal bests being set. She held her form. She had a great

:23:04.:23:09.

start. She will need that. other two heats were won in 7.12.

:23:09.:23:18.

You have the athletes there and Asha Philip so she is in the mix,

:23:18.:23:23.

Colin? She goes - even with that time of 7.19, she is ranked eighth

:23:23.:23:29.

in the semifinal. It is a tight race all the way through. It will

:23:29.:23:33.

be exciting. From the shortest event to the longest event, Paula

:23:33.:23:38.

was watching and commentating on the red button, it was the women's

:23:38.:23:45.

3,000m with Lauren Howarth. What did you make of her performance?

:23:45.:23:49.

thought he was impressive. The way she ran the race, she attacked it

:23:49.:23:56.

with confidence, she wasn't afraid to follow and she qualified very

:23:56.:24:02.

easily. She showed that she's able to react to the Championship-type

:24:02.:24:12.
:24:12.:24:16.

race. The athlete we see going past Lauren Howarth, Britton, she will

:24:16.:24:25.

be doing the World Cross-Country. How do you fancy her making that

:24:25.:24:30.

change? She's raced very well already over the cross-country. She

:24:30.:24:38.

is twice European Cross-Country Champion. She's in very good shape.

:24:38.:24:43.

She wants to come and run quicker. She hasn't had that success in the

:24:43.:24:47.

summer on the track and it is a different type of running. She is

:24:47.:24:51.

not - she doesn't have that change of pace that she might need indoors.

:24:51.:25:00.

She wasn't particularly comfortable. She was OK out there today. We will

:25:00.:25:05.

see Shara Proctor in the long jump shortly. Chris Tomlinson, who was

:25:05.:25:10.

sixth in the Olympic Games, this sixth in the Olympic Games, this

:25:10.:25:16.

was his third and final attempt. It was 7.98m. Watch out for the

:25:16.:25:21.

flailing right arm. He hasn't changed. It is great to see him

:25:21.:25:25.

back. I am sure his confidence would have taken a big knock seeing

:25:25.:25:31.

his compatriot do so well, Greg winning the Olympics. It is great

:25:31.:25:36.

to see him back through. He will need to tidy his technique, but the

:25:36.:25:42.

long jump is wide-open. He spoke to Phil afterwards. He said, "I know

:25:42.:25:47.

I'm going to jump big, but it just might not be tomorrow!" LAUGHTER

:25:47.:25:53.

Cover all your bets(!) Steve Lewis also went in the pole vault. We

:25:53.:25:59.

have watched Steve Lewis for a number of years. Today was a

:25:59.:26:02.

wonderful day for him. Qualification was going to be tough.

:26:02.:26:07.

When I was listening to anybody talk about how high they would need

:26:07.:26:15.

to jump, he produced it, 5.70m. I was surprised. In some of the other

:26:15.:26:20.

jumps, especially the women's pole vault, it didn't need that much to

:26:20.:26:26.

get through. 5.70m is huge. He has a big smile. The Olympic Champion

:26:26.:26:35.

is out there and jumping well. Absolutely. That wraps up this

:26:35.:26:40.

morning and yesterday's action. We will focus on today's now. We have

:26:40.:26:45.

three of our big field event chances out there now. There is

:26:45.:26:50.

Shara Proctor. She qualified well yesterday, Denise. Nobody jumped

:26:50.:26:58.

particularly well. Nobody got the automatic qualification. She was

:26:58.:27:03.

just short of automatic qualification? She has something to

:27:03.:27:07.

prove. She's jumped so well in the Olympics and wanted to come here

:27:07.:27:13.

and finish on the podium. She ran well there. Qualified comfortably

:27:13.:27:17.

with 6.61m. Only took one jump in the competition. It bodes well for

:27:17.:27:27.
:27:27.:27:34.

the final. Yeah. She wasn't looking very good in qualification. I

:27:34.:27:38.

wonder with the Russian women, there is a little cloud over their

:27:38.:27:43.

performances thus far. Shara getting ready there. She's been

:27:43.:27:52.

introduced to the crowd. Nervous moments for the athletes. There's

:27:52.:27:59.

Holly Bleasdale, perhaps outside the relays, our best chance of a

:27:59.:28:04.

gold medal this weekend, Colin? would say that. She had a worry

:28:04.:28:12.

when she was jumping at 4.36m. When she switched to a harder pole. She

:28:12.:28:17.

made some very nice clearances, indeed. This is her qualification

:28:17.:28:21.

of 4.56m. A strong performance. I think a lot of the ladies will

:28:21.:28:26.

watch this and think, "She is in good shape." She can raise her game

:28:26.:28:36.
:28:36.:28:45.

and take the gold today. What was She's made it very public that he

:28:45.:28:50.

wants to come and get a gold medal. I hope that doesn't hamper her. I'm

:28:50.:28:54.

hoping she doesn't mess up in the early heights, she keeps focused,

:28:54.:29:00.

strong and really delivers. Robbie Grabarz in the high jump will be

:29:00.:29:06.

hoping, I don't know about gold, but certainly for a medal. There is

:29:07.:29:10.

to meet trick, the Russian. But Robbie Grabarz likes the occasion.

:29:10.:29:14.

He does for Stam may be that showed a little bit yesterday. He didn't

:29:14.:29:20.

look that great in qualification, the arena wasn't very four, the

:29:20.:29:22.

atmosphere was and rocking. Hopefully it will be better today

:29:22.:29:32.

and he's going to be able to raise shape but not having the time.

:29:32.:29:39.

He's stronger, he's quicker, and that can affect jumpers. He's had

:29:39.:29:45.

to make a few adjustments. He is a big performer. He knows that it's

:29:45.:29:48.

there for the taking. Let's see how he deals with this very tricky

:29:48.:29:54.

surface. Often new services are laid for Championships and there's

:29:54.:29:58.

a bit of a different feel to what you have in training. Always. You

:29:58.:30:02.

mention about the timing and rhythm. Every single athlete prepares for

:30:02.:30:06.

their ultimate. Robbie has got faster but he's not a sprinter.

:30:06.:30:14.

He's got more bounce. He's got to balance these new things to really

:30:14.:30:18.

deliver the ultimate performance. I said at the beginning of the indoor

:30:18.:30:24.

season, I'm looking for him getting close to 2.40. I'm looking for him

:30:24.:30:29.

to come in, perhaps get a bit of a victory. You have to put the season

:30:29.:30:32.

into context and think, yes, outdoors is very important to him

:30:32.:30:37.

so he has to make the changes now. He might pay the price early, like

:30:37.:30:40.

now what these championships, but it bodes well for Moscow and the

:30:40.:30:50.
:30:50.:30:51.

The first track event is the women's 400m. As I mentioned, the

:30:51.:30:55.

men's triple jump. It would have been rude of me whilst I was in

:30:55.:31:05.
:31:05.:31:12.

Gothenburg not to catch up with my Good to see you. Are you well?

:31:12.:31:22.
:31:22.:31:27.

We cold but good. I'm looking Nice picture. Welcome back to

:31:27.:31:30.

Gothenburg and the World Athletics Championships. Jonathan Edwards

:31:30.:31:39.

will shortly begin his campaign for It doesn't look any different, it

:31:39.:31:45.

hasn't even been repainted. I don't think they've changed a thing.

:31:45.:31:52.

was a long time ago. 18 years. Jonathan Edwards in the triple jump

:31:52.:31:58.

final. We could be on the verge of something special. You were selling

:31:58.:32:03.

programmes, weren't you? You us, I was up there. Very close. We were

:32:03.:32:07.

able to move freely around the arena. They said pretty much to us

:32:07.:32:11.

that nobody sitting in the seat, you can sit down but if they come,

:32:11.:32:16.

just move. And they didn't come, so we were very lucky watching the

:32:16.:32:20.

triple jump. They were boosting the triple jumper. They were saying it

:32:21.:32:25.

was going to be something special. Jonathan Edwards with his first

:32:25.:32:29.

round jump, live in the triple jump. A did you think I was going to

:32:29.:32:39.
:32:39.:32:44.

break the world record? I think we breaking the world record was the

:32:44.:32:54.
:32:54.:32:55.

first round. 18... 18.18. I thought you'd know it. 18.16. Not that I've

:32:55.:33:01.

watched it a million times or anything! In that first round, all

:33:01.:33:07.

I wanted to do was just get a half decent jumping, calm my nerves. I

:33:07.:33:17.
:33:17.:33:26.

It's a world record for Great was that you could go out again and

:33:26.:33:30.

do another job. The crowd anticipating something special once

:33:30.:33:40.
:33:40.:33:46.

done it again. I don't believe it! Many people break world records but

:33:46.:33:50.

very few do it twice in the same competition. I thought that was

:33:50.:33:57.

pretty much one of the biggest achievements in sport. I don't

:33:57.:34:03.

know... But there's one bit, just at the top of the runway, I smiled

:34:03.:34:08.

to myself on that point my finger. It was a good first jump but I felt

:34:08.:34:18.

like I could do better. It is exactly 60 ft and one quarter of an

:34:18.:34:24.

inch. Jonathan Edwards has made history again. There was never a

:34:24.:34:33.

delight it again. -- there was never a year like it again. He's

:34:33.:34:37.

just jumped the greatest jump in athletics history and has said his

:34:37.:34:42.

second world record in less than 20 minutes. Is this still the same

:34:42.:34:49.

pit? And I'm not sure. We had won for qualification and one for final.

:34:49.:34:57.

We also had that in the European Championships. No jumping today! I

:34:57.:35:01.

love the fact that you were sat there watching the triple jump.

:35:01.:35:07.

Then we became best of rivals. much longer can the great men keep

:35:07.:35:13.

going? Gold and silver in Edmonton in 2001, but 2002 was like the

:35:13.:35:20.

Battle of equals. Yes, at that time I had time to train with you and

:35:20.:35:24.

focus on the wall of the time. I came up to a high level sooner. It

:35:25.:35:28.

was the motivation to come and compete against you because you

:35:28.:35:35.

have such a high-level. I actually hated you a little bit! I came to

:35:35.:35:40.

Paris and they jumped 17.60. I thought, OK, that will give you

:35:40.:35:45.

something to think about. It was like you just put the clutch down,

:35:45.:35:52.

gear up, 17.76. I remember you, OK, I'm going to go and write

:35:52.:36:02.
:36:02.:36:02.

autographs now. I don't remember it quite like that. When you finish to

:36:02.:36:09.

said, enough is enough, at 2003 in the world championships. I think

:36:09.:36:14.

our rivalry skyrocketed my career to a higher level much, much faster.

:36:14.:36:18.

If you haven't had been there, it might have been a while before I

:36:18.:36:23.

started to win. When you retire you left a ball we'd. Don't get me

:36:23.:36:29.

wrong, I enjoyed winning the Olympics and world championships,

:36:30.:36:37.

but I missed the competitiveness of being close to someone all the time.

:36:37.:36:41.

It was the best time in my career, even though I won a lot of things

:36:41.:36:49.

afterwards. We need to get inside because it's a lot colder than it

:36:49.:36:59.
:36:59.:37:02.

Forgive the self-indulgence. That was fantastic. I was 29 when I

:37:02.:37:07.

broke the world record, not 12. Interestingly enough, we do have

:37:07.:37:10.

the three British track and field world record holders with us. Paula

:37:10.:37:16.

Radcliffe but the marathon, you with your hurdles... You didn't run

:37:16.:37:20.

in 95, did you? I was slightly annoyed with the circumstances that

:37:20.:37:26.

were put in front of me so I missed the 1995 World Championships. But I

:37:26.:37:31.

was actually there in the stadium when you were jumping. It was

:37:31.:37:35.

magnificent to see. It was one of those really inspirational moments

:37:35.:37:38.

because there were lots of big stars in track and field still in

:37:38.:37:45.

that era. You were just coming in on the scene. It was wonderful, all

:37:45.:37:49.

the attention could go on a field eventer, a triple jumper. That, for

:37:49.:37:55.

me, was a magical moment. It's a weird thing watching it back. I

:37:55.:38:00.

don't know what you feel like when you watch your world record Batt

:38:00.:38:06.

it's strange. It is strange. I had goosebumps watching that. At the

:38:06.:38:10.

time, I don't know if you appreciate it. It almost takes a

:38:10.:38:14.

long time on to when you can look at it back like that, to be able to

:38:14.:38:18.

appreciate what someone like Christian and me so that day,

:38:18.:38:24.

because it was a huge inspiration to him. He was such an idle, and

:38:24.:38:27.

then to be able to progress and have a rivalry with you was a big

:38:27.:38:32.

thing for him. That is what makes athletics magical. It's the head-

:38:32.:38:35.

to-heads as much as going for your personal best. Absolutely, because

:38:35.:38:40.

you are drawing inspiration from all sorts of places. Those rivals

:38:41.:38:44.

that you want to beat that also inspire you at the same time to

:38:44.:38:47.

look at your training, to look at what you were doing to get the best

:38:47.:38:52.

out of your performances. You need them. Enough of the past, on with

:38:52.:39:02.
:39:02.:39:31.

the present. Shara Proctor in the indoors three times. 6.62 her best

:39:31.:39:41.
:39:41.:40:12.

Solid start. She qualified with won the championships last season.

:40:12.:40:16.

Thought she was going to do some real damage in the Olympic final.

:40:16.:40:19.

She did make the final budget only finished in eighth place for Stam

:40:19.:40:24.

nevertheless, still a very fine performance indeed. 6.60 yesterday

:40:24.:40:34.
:40:34.:40:47.

quite recently with 6.81. That looks close. A little bit wild

:40:47.:40:51.

through the air. If she can tidy that of, she would surely gain

:40:51.:41:01.
:41:01.:41:11.

French national record in the first the world's best, and one of the

:41:11.:41:20.

favourites for this title. That is massive! Way over Lesueur's mark.

:41:20.:41:25.

She could even have beaten the seven metre barrier. The longest

:41:25.:41:31.

jump in the world this year is seven metres exactly by Kucherenko.

:41:31.:41:37.

What a start for this elegant Russian. She won the title two

:41:37.:41:42.

years ago. 7.01. The best jump in the world in 2013. She takes the

:41:42.:41:50.

lead. Shara Proctor has just seen Klishina go out to seven metres

:41:50.:41:56.

plus. Can she respond? It's not bad, she's in the top three, that's for

:41:56.:42:00.

sure. But first and second place at the moment are miles away from

:42:00.:42:10.
:42:10.:42:26.

here? 6168. She is in third place That was an explosive start. We

:42:27.:42:30.

mentioned that in qualification they didn't look too good. A

:42:30.:42:34.

different story to date. It took my breath away, a new French national

:42:34.:42:40.

record, that was massive, really setting a target. And the Russian,

:42:40.:42:45.

she just pulls it out of the bag with 7.01. A world-leading mark.

:42:45.:42:50.

Unbelievable. It's very difficult for someone like Shara Cox to come

:42:50.:42:53.

in and follow that as a performance. Sometimes you can get carried away.

:42:53.:42:56.

She watched them yesterday in qualification and jumped further

:42:56.:43:01.

than most of them. In her mind she is thinking, OK, I can get myself

:43:01.:43:05.

out there. She needs to rain herself back in, take a deep breath

:43:05.:43:09.

and then really focus and deliver. At 6.68 is still a great

:43:09.:43:19.
:43:19.:43:27.

the second round? 6.68m in the first round. Looking good for Great

:43:27.:43:31.

Britain at the moment. Accelerates into the board. Maybe just a little

:43:31.:43:41.
:43:41.:43:42.

bit short. The guys have been saying, Denise, it is an explosive

:43:42.:43:47.

start to this final and Shara Proctor is in there, isn't she?

:43:47.:43:55.

is. She has to keep her run-up consistent. Her first jump, she was

:43:55.:44:05.

a bit tight having to respond to Klishina. She can do it. Shara

:44:05.:44:10.

Proctor nipping over to have a quick word with the team coach

:44:10.:44:20.
:44:20.:44:23.

there. Proctor's second round jump is 6.64m. The men's high jump is

:44:23.:44:30.

another of our highlights here today. It features Robbie Grabarz.

:44:30.:44:40.
:44:40.:44:51.

He is going to be jumping first. There is Robbie. Looked superb at

:44:51.:44:58.

2.23m in qualification. He only just made the final. Glad to see

:44:58.:45:08.
:45:08.:45:37.

Russian. Twice an indoor champion. Sergey Mudrov. Mastoras of Greece.

:45:37.:45:47.
:45:47.:45:52.

Very useful performer. 2.26m this season his best. There is Aleksei

:45:52.:46:02.
:46:02.:46:02.

Dmitrik, he's beaten Robbie Grabarz twice this year. Tamberi is quite

:46:02.:46:09.

an explosive character. This guy will be the danger to everybody,

:46:09.:46:12.

Mickael Hanany of France. Only just made it through qualification

:46:12.:46:22.
:46:22.:46:25.

yesterday. I it will -- I tell you what, the action comes thick and

:46:26.:46:34.

fast here this afternoon. Everybody in this final has got a chance to

:46:34.:46:44.
:46:44.:46:55.

medal, that's for sure. Holly Bleasdale's first attempt in

:46:55.:46:59.

this pole vault competition. A moderate opening height. After the

:46:59.:47:03.

way she qualified, Colin, it was important that she got her first

:47:03.:47:13.

height in and got a bit of confidence? Looking at Holly here -

:47:13.:47:18.

I think she is using a harder pole from the off. She's getting used to

:47:18.:47:23.

that timing of the tougher pole to propel her to those higher heights

:47:23.:47:30.

later on. For me, it is a good start, a solid start, it is 4.37m

:47:30.:47:40.

the opening height. Certainly a lot going on in the infield. Big medal

:47:40.:47:44.

hopes in the long jump, pole vault and the men's high jump. For Holly,

:47:44.:47:48.

a lot of pressure on her. She's come in here as the European lead

:47:48.:47:53.

and there is an expectation that she will win? Yeah. There is an

:47:53.:47:58.

expectation that she has the capabilities of winning. I like the

:47:58.:48:08.
:48:08.:48:09.

fact she is talking about winning this. It is the right attitude. Why

:48:09.:48:13.

not? When you have jumped well and big, why not be proud and believe

:48:13.:48:18.

that you can achieve these great things? It is a different mindset

:48:18.:48:22.

that you need. She will come to competitions in the past and she

:48:22.:48:29.

will look at other athletes and she will think, "I'm not the number

:48:29.:48:35.

one." She will look around her and think, "Nobody can beat me."

:48:35.:48:39.

Absolutely. For her, to settle herself into it and just do these

:48:39.:48:42.

heights. Forget it is a Championships and jump high. That

:48:42.:48:46.

will take the victory for her today. She doesn't know it because she

:48:46.:48:52.

hasn't done it. She knows she is capable of. Until she delivers

:48:52.:48:59.

those higher heights in performance, she... She hasn't had the real

:48:59.:49:02.

opportunity beforehand. At the Olympics, there was a lot of fuss

:49:02.:49:07.

going on. I have never heard her say previously that she is going to

:49:07.:49:11.

win a medal. Here she is saying, "I am good enough to win. I can jump

:49:11.:49:15.

high. I'm going to do it." Yesterday was a bit shaky. We all

:49:16.:49:19.

felt - we were anxious about the beginning. Let's see. She comes in,

:49:19.:49:25.

she does that 4.56m, so let's see. A good chance for Holly Bleasdale

:49:25.:49:29.

in the pole vault. It was a good start. We will hope for similar

:49:29.:49:34.

from Robbie Grabarz. He will hope to follow in the footsteps of one

:49:34.:49:41.

Dalton Grant. COMMENTARY: Dalton Grant, 2.37m, this jump for the

:49:41.:49:46.

gold medal. He's got it! What a superb jump by Dalton Grant.

:49:46.:49:49.

Sometimes considered to be the nearly man of high jumping. He's

:49:49.:49:53.

been in fourth place in many Major Championships before, twice in the

:49:53.:50:02.

World Indoors, the Europeans and the World Outdoor Championships.

:50:02.:50:06.

This jump could have won gold for Great Britain once again on this

:50:06.:50:16.

final day of the European Indoor Championships. 2.37m, Dalton Grant.

:50:16.:50:21.

That was a bit special? Again, with Dalton, we always used to have our

:50:21.:50:24.

heart in our mouth. You never knew what he would do. These high

:50:24.:50:29.

jumpers are like that. They love the pressure. This is what we hope

:50:29.:50:39.
:50:39.:50:51.

Robbie will respond to today. of his big rivals is Dmitrik of

:50:51.:50:55.

Russia. He has beaten Robbie on two occasions this season. We all know

:50:55.:51:01.

what is happening in Russia. There is a strong high jump tradition.

:51:01.:51:06.

They have the Olympic Champion, the World Champion. Robbie is coming in

:51:06.:51:15.

live. Deep breath from everybody, including us here in the studio!

:51:15.:51:23.

There goes Robbie and that is looking good. Relatively modest

:51:23.:51:29.

height. A nice opener for Robbie in this final. European Outdoor

:51:29.:51:33.

Champion last year. Jointly with two other people, he won the

:51:33.:51:40.

Olympic bronze medal in the Olympic final. 2.19m, that is his start.

:51:40.:51:50.
:51:50.:51:53.

Looked very comfortable. Baniotis next. The European Indoor

:51:53.:51:58.

Championships - he was fourth in 2011. A very tall athlete. Just

:51:58.:52:06.

gave it a bit of a rattle. I think we have already seen Dmitrik and he

:52:06.:52:13.

will be everybody's main rival. He has been so, so good this year.

:52:13.:52:20.

Shara Proctor once again in the long jump. And that looked close to

:52:20.:52:30.

being a foul for Shara. Indeed, it is. So Proctor, 6.68m in the first

:52:30.:52:37.

round, 6.54m she followed it up with and that was her first foul of

:52:37.:52:42.

the competition. Reaching the half- way stage of that final. Shara is

:52:42.:52:50.

still in third place. She really competed well last year.

:52:50.:53:00.
:53:00.:53:05.

Set five British records in 2012. That is no mean feat, I promise you.

:53:05.:53:11.

Kucherenko is up next. Until a few moments ago, she was the only

:53:11.:53:21.
:53:21.:53:30.

athlete in this field to jump 7.00m major indoor Championship. Can

:53:30.:53:34.

Kucherenko respond? She is lying in fifth place at the moment. Her best

:53:34.:53:44.

jump is 6.59m, that came in the last round. She's made big

:53:44.:53:47.

improvements as well over the last couple of years. Won a silver medal

:53:47.:53:56.

in the World Championships in 2011. Only finished fourth last season in

:53:56.:54:00.

the Russian Championships. That meant she missed the Olympics.

:54:00.:54:06.

Powerful runner. Good take-off. Really chasing those top three

:54:06.:54:14.

places. So remember, Shara Proctor in third place, her best jump 6.68m.

:54:14.:54:18.

Anything going past that means Shara Proctor moves back into

:54:18.:54:28.
:54:28.:54:33.

fourth place. There's still three rounds to go, of course. Could

:54:33.:54:38.

Kucherenko - 6.62m. She is in fourth place. Proctor is ahead of

:54:38.:54:41.

her in a medal position, at the moment.

:54:41.:54:48.

Good news from the long jump. To get a silver or a gold is going to

:54:48.:54:54.

take a massive jump? 6.85m. Denise you know those distances. When

:54:54.:54:58.

someone puts those distances in front of you, how difficult is it

:54:58.:55:03.

to respond? It is tough. You are thinking, "What do I have to do to

:55:03.:55:08.

respond to that?" She will - her head was a bit scrambled for that

:55:08.:55:11.

first attempt. She has to relax. She has great speed. She needs to

:55:11.:55:16.

move her run-up back. She was half a foot over on the second attempt,

:55:16.:55:21.

the third attempt, sorry. There's still three jumps to go. She had a

:55:22.:55:27.

great World Indoors, she broke the national record outdoors as well.

:55:27.:55:29.

Then disappointing in the Olympic Games. It has been a rebuilding

:55:29.:55:35.

process for her? It has. What she has to do is get back into the gym,

:55:35.:55:41.

think about how she does respond off the board. The distances can be

:55:41.:55:45.

won or lost in a short space, in six metres into the board. That is

:55:45.:55:49.

the crucial point of the long jump. She needs to work on that if she is

:55:49.:55:53.

going to increase by another 20 centimetres, that is all we are

:55:54.:55:58.

talking about. Yes. We will keep across those field events. We will

:55:58.:56:08.
:56:08.:56:20.

delve back into the archive once first bend. Sally Gunnell has gone

:56:20.:56:28.

off well. Pretty determined, Sally Gunnell. The Essex girl. Angela

:56:28.:56:33.

Pickford learning all the time. Look at this by Sally Gunnell.

:56:33.:56:38.

Pickford has gone for it. Very fast at 24.12. That is a tremendous

:56:38.:56:42.

piece of running by Sally Gunnell. Some of the world's greats behind

:56:42.:56:47.

her have to do an awful lot to pick her off. Sally Gunnell romping away

:56:47.:56:55.

here, the Essex girl having a tremendous run. Pickford is still

:56:55.:56:59.

in the hunt and Sally Gunnell is coming through for a brilliant

:56:59.:57:03.

victory. A big smile on her face. Sally Gunnell just took the race by

:57:03.:57:08.

the scruff of the neck and dominated it from start to finish!

:57:08.:57:12.

There's four or five metres between them. Is this going to be Britain's

:57:12.:57:20.

first gold medal on the track at these European Championships? She's

:57:20.:57:25.

going further clear. This is the run of her life for Nicola Sanders

:57:25.:57:31.

of Great Britain. She's winning unchallenged up towards the line,

:57:31.:57:36.

it is gold for Nicola Sanders of Great Britain in an outstanding

:57:36.:57:44.

time - 50.03. It's good enough for gold in the 400m.

:57:44.:57:54.
:57:54.:57:55.

Out on track now, Shana Cox and Eilidh Child going in the first

:57:55.:58:05.
:58:05.:58:05.

semifinals. She gets the worst lane, number one, Denise? It is not easy.

:58:05.:58:09.

She will be feeling pretty good. As you saw, watching those old

:58:09.:58:12.

pictures of Sally Gunnell, the tactics don't change. It is about

:58:12.:58:16.

getting out in front. I am sure these are nervous moments for her.

:58:16.:58:26.
:58:26.:58:43.

I wonder if Sally is watching at indoors. 50.02. If anyone comes

:58:43.:58:48.

near that this weekend, you can guarantee them the gold medal. It

:58:48.:58:53.

was a phenomenal moment in Nicola's life, she was untouchable indoors.

:58:53.:58:58.

Sometimes athletes, you never believe those real, euphoric

:58:58.:59:02.

moments happening where everything goes beautifully. Her career from

:59:02.:59:05.

thereon in got the gold with injury. It must have been so hard for her

:59:05.:59:09.

to see those pictures now and think, man, if I could just get myself in

:59:09.:59:13.

that kind of shape where I could train and train and train and

:59:13.:59:17.

produce performances like that again. Now let's go to Paul

:59:17.:59:27.
:59:27.:59:50.

He won in Birmingham. He beat Robbie Grabarz on both occasions.

:59:50.:59:54.

He has consistently been one of the best jumpers in the world during

:59:54.:00:04.
:00:04.:00:11.

this first semi-final for the women's 400m. Shana Cox in lane one,

:00:11.:00:15.

Eilidh Child out in lane five. She's got one of the fastest times

:00:15.:00:20.

in Europe this year. We are looking to her to dominate this race.

:00:20.:00:24.

she was really good in her heats. She's worked hard this winter. She

:00:24.:00:29.

knows what he has to do. She has been running very confidently,

:00:29.:00:33.

having had that run under her belt, having controlled the race. It's

:00:33.:00:39.

all about recovery now, how she has recovered. Tactically, speaking to

:00:39.:00:43.

her coach, Malcolm Arnold, to make sure that she doesn't disappoint

:00:43.:00:48.

herself, because you know she's in good shape. One interesting is how

:00:48.:00:55.

well the 400m hurdlers are doing on the Flat. Hejnova got a bronze in

:00:55.:01:01.

London. We were watching Sally Gunnell take her victory, third

:01:01.:01:06.

behind that was the Swiss competitor, also a 400m hurdler.

:01:06.:01:11.

Lots of hurdlers run this event. I have a quick chat with Malcolm

:01:11.:01:16.

Arnold before, about Eilidh Child and her reasons for running. He

:01:16.:01:19.

said he wanted to make her a bit tougher over the hurdles for the

:01:19.:01:23.

summer, and he felt one in 400m indoors, where it's a bit

:01:23.:01:26.

aggressive, would make her think a bit more positively about attacking

:01:26.:01:30.

those barriers. So far it's been magnificent, because now she has a

:01:30.:01:40.
:01:40.:01:42.

real chance and a shot at a medal reason she's got lane one is

:01:42.:01:47.

because she wasn't quite at the front of the field. No, and she

:01:47.:01:51.

conceded when she approached that 200m mark, most of the girls who

:01:51.:01:56.

have won have attacked and been determined. She needs to pick up a

:01:56.:01:59.

little bit of speed, but she qualified. She just has to run her

:01:59.:02:09.
:02:09.:02:15.

now. -- Holly Bleasdale. Two successes for Holly Bleasdale.

:02:15.:02:25.
:02:25.:02:38.

warm-up, she's continued that good Bleasdale and what we hope will be

:02:38.:02:41.

a good afternoon for Great Britain. We are looking to continue that on

:02:41.:02:51.
:02:51.:03:09.

because, well, you want to try and win your heat, but she's in one.

:03:09.:03:15.

That will be tough. Duffer of the Netherlands outside her. Hjelmer

:03:15.:03:23.

could be someone you need to watch. She was behind Sherry -- Perri

:03:23.:03:33.
:03:33.:03:39.

championships. Didn't look so good to me, not for the number one

:03:39.:03:46.

ranked athletes. Eilidh Child, by contrast, qualified comfortably.

:03:46.:03:55.

Maybe a bit of a surprise, Morosanu, another hurdler. There's the

:03:55.:03:59.

European number one coming into these championships. Cox with a

:03:59.:04:03.

really tough lane draw. But Eilidh Child hoping to get a nice, clean

:04:03.:04:13.
:04:13.:04:36.

run through here. Top-three into so quickly out of the blocks.

:04:36.:04:45.

Ustalova has gone quickly into this first 100m. Delmas has really

:04:45.:04:51.

attacked this first 200m. Look at Joe Hulm arising to the occasion.

:04:51.:04:56.

Morosanu cuts across Ustalova, trips her up. That was the Romanian

:04:56.:05:01.

athlete's fault. The number one athlete is out. Eilidh Child has to

:05:01.:05:06.

concentrate. Delmas starting to fade. Morosanu attacking. Eilidh

:05:06.:05:13.

Child getting close up. Look at Morosanu, all over the place. Child

:05:13.:05:19.

coming around the outside. Hjelmer, Morosanu and Child. Look at

:05:19.:05:25.

Morosanu. If she doesn't get disqualified I will be surprised.

:05:25.:05:30.

Cox was Forth. Jammu really did attack it well, she wasn't to blame

:05:30.:05:40.
:05:40.:05:41.

at all. When you see Morosanu, she dives across the back of Ustalova.

:05:41.:05:45.

Ustalova is the number-one ranked athlete. The Russians will protest

:05:45.:05:50.

but, unfortunately, we tend to talk about the athletes getting up and

:05:50.:05:53.

computing, which as far as I can see Ustalova didn't do, but when

:05:53.:05:57.

you hit the track that hard you can't blame her. So they can't

:05:57.:06:01.

really push Ustalova through. They certainly can disqualify Morosanu,

:06:01.:06:11.
:06:11.:06:15.

which would be good news for Shana front of you like that, Eilidh

:06:15.:06:21.

Child could have come a cropper there as well. That is just diving

:06:21.:06:31.
:06:31.:06:37.

across unnecessarily. But Eilidh on, I guess. Here is Shara Proctor

:06:37.:06:42.

now in the fourth round. Still in the medal position, still in third

:06:42.:06:51.

place. And could be a little better. The man with the flag waiting

:06:51.:06:56.

patiently until Shara left the pit. She's certainly got the height.

:06:56.:07:06.
:07:06.:07:08.

Maybe she slowed into the take-off indoor championships last year.

:07:08.:07:18.
:07:18.:07:21.

6.69, a slight improvement. But she now for Robbie. This height

:07:21.:07:27.

yesterday in qualification increased his speed all the way

:07:27.:07:31.

into the take-off and then soared over the bar. And he's done it

:07:31.:07:35.

again. I must admit he's not looking as smooth as he was

:07:35.:07:45.
:07:45.:07:50.

like for him when it goes up to the next height, which will be 2.25

:07:50.:08:00.
:08:00.:08:06.

then 2.27 and then to 0.29. So far the moment. Morosanu women --

:08:06.:08:12.

winning. Shana Cox with a season's best. I'll be really surprised if

:08:12.:08:16.

there isn't some sort of complaint lodged by the Russians. I don't

:08:16.:08:20.

think Ustalova can be advanced into the final, but they will certainly

:08:20.:08:28.

be looking for a disqualification Steve Cram was talking up have been

:08:28.:08:31.

resold and saying he would be very surprised if the Russians don't

:08:31.:08:34.

complain about that. As they have we didn't finish, they can't have

:08:34.:08:38.

advantage to the final. Morosanu seems to be causing a great deal of

:08:38.:08:42.

problems. The 400 indoor is a really different race out there,

:08:42.:08:48.

there's a lot going on. It's a very physical grace. I'm not surprised,

:08:48.:08:53.

but it just comes with it. Season's best for you and you could yet may

:08:53.:08:56.

the final, you've got to see what happens now with the shenanigans

:08:56.:09:02.

that are going on. What about your own performance? It was a season's

:09:02.:09:06.

best, so I've got to be happy with it. It's getting better as time

:09:06.:09:12.

goes on. We can see the incident right here. You can see how

:09:12.:09:17.

Morosanu cut across the Russian. The key for you is to keep out of

:09:17.:09:24.

trouble. I just thought I wanted to get to the break point, I just

:09:24.:09:28.

thought, stay back, stay out of trouble, run wide, but obviously

:09:28.:09:34.

that happened. I thought that this point, stay wide and I will get

:09:34.:09:38.

them towards the end. But she went down and I had to move out of her

:09:38.:09:41.

weight and I lost my momentum. I had to fight back the whole way. It

:09:41.:09:45.

would have been nice to have won it. I know I'm stronger after doing

:09:45.:09:50.

that so I hope I can get in the final. You did well, you kept calm,

:09:50.:09:55.

that is the key in that situation. Very much. They're so much going on

:09:55.:09:58.

that you just have to react and go. That's what we all kind of tried to

:09:59.:10:08.
:10:09.:10:15.

do. All very best. Hope you make it Ustalova is out. No doubt about the

:10:15.:10:20.

good prospects of Perri Shakes- Drayton, but no doubt either be

:10:20.:10:24.

progression to the final is far from a foregone conclusion because

:10:24.:10:32.

a woman like this, Hejnova... You might expect it to be the women in

:10:32.:10:35.

four and five who are through to the final, Perri Shakes-Drayton was

:10:35.:10:45.
:10:45.:10:58.

in five. Perri Shakes-Drayton is in sixth. They might be the favourite

:10:58.:11:08.
:11:08.:11:34.

blistering pace in the heats and has done so again. She looks to

:11:34.:11:38.

lead at the break and stay out of trouble, especially with what we've

:11:38.:11:42.

seen in the first heat. Perri Shakes-Drayton is out in front.

:11:42.:11:46.

Behind her, it might be tight as they come across. Hejnova nipping

:11:46.:11:52.

through into second place, followed by Gayot of France. But Shakes-

:11:52.:12:02.
:12:02.:12:08.

by Rosolova. Shakes-Drayton doing very well indeed. Coming through

:12:08.:12:18.
:12:18.:12:22.

and holding on strong. She takes it. 51.03. A very good win for the

:12:22.:12:26.

British athlete. No trouble in that heat. It was a much simpler affair.

:12:26.:12:36.
:12:36.:12:59.

Hejnova coming through to take of her yet. Totally in control from

:13:00.:13:03.

lane six. Nice and balanced, doesn't lose anything. Look how

:13:03.:13:09.

she's running, there's no stress. Very relaxed. Yes, it's tiring now

:13:09.:13:13.

and the lactic acid is building, but look how she holds her form

:13:13.:13:17.

really well. Perri Shakes-Drayton is in the shape of her life.

:13:17.:13:20.

Whether Ustalova is in this or not, it doesn't matter. I think this is

:13:20.:13:25.

the big gold medal prospect. That was almost three-tenths of a second

:13:25.:13:35.
:13:35.:13:52.

For Steve Cram said it in commentary, a fantastic performance

:13:52.:13:58.

by you. You're getting better with every season.

:13:58.:14:06.

But is the aim for us, when it comes to championships. I just need

:14:06.:14:16.

to rest now, and be up bright and early tomorrow morning. I feel good.

:14:16.:14:22.

You had an eye what was going on in the first race. And how keep it is

:14:22.:14:30.

to stay out of danger. I didn't want to get up -- get caught up in

:14:30.:14:38.

any trouble. Just run my own race and stay away from trouble. Eilidh

:14:38.:14:44.

Child has made it through to the final, Shana Cox maybe there. At

:14:44.:14:54.
:14:54.:14:56.

least two you going for him medal. If it is good, considering the all

:14:56.:15:04.

the excitement! We saw Sally Gunnell do it recently. You may

:15:04.:15:12.

emulate her. I will try to do my best, I want to achieve as many

:15:12.:15:19.

titles as I can, I will keep on trying. Can I say happy birthday to

:15:19.:15:29.
:15:29.:15:38.

round. Adding one centimetre to her record distance. Still in second

:15:38.:15:46.

place. That is pretty much the same sort of distance which she jumped

:15:46.:15:52.

last time. We have seen a world leading jump, a new national record

:15:52.:15:59.

from this athlete. Shara Proctor added to her best jump in the

:15:59.:16:06.

competition. She is still in third place. No doubt about the

:16:06.:16:11.

credentials of the European outdoor champion last season. The French

:16:11.:16:18.

champion. She really is a fine athlete. It is an improvement again,

:16:18.:16:28.
:16:28.:16:37.

it would be exciting if she could produce something special here.

:16:38.:16:43.

National indoor record holder at 6.89. She gave it everything. It

:16:43.:16:53.
:16:53.:17:01.

all, doesn't it? A cracking take- off in terms of position on the

:17:01.:17:11.
:17:11.:17:18.

board. Good speed on the runway, as coaches. Good consistency. She is

:17:18.:17:28.
:17:28.:17:45.

Totally commanding. You can only do this level of running if you are

:17:45.:17:51.

fit, healthy and strong. She is displaying all of those qualities.

:17:51.:17:55.

It is wonderful when an athlete can come to these championships in the

:17:55.:17:59.

shape of their life, because it breeds confidence, she knows what

:17:59.:18:05.

to expect from her body, there are no questions. Been a question is

:18:05.:18:15.
:18:15.:18:17.

can she turn it into a gold medal. The final is to tomorrow morning.

:18:17.:18:22.

We are used to finals been in the afternoon.

:18:22.:18:32.

Paula Radcliffe is up in commentary. How do fancy Joe Thomas's chances

:18:32.:18:38.

in this? He is in a tough heat. Against at

:18:38.:18:44.

standing favourite. He needs to control the race. He is good in a

:18:44.:18:53.

slow race. If someone takes it up fast, it will be tough for him. The

:18:53.:19:02.

second heat is slightly easier. Muktar Mohammed had to race

:19:02.:19:12.

relatively faster yesterday. Joe Thomas had based lower heat. -- had

:19:12.:19:22.
:19:22.:19:22.

Joe Thomas looked very good yesterday, he is from the same club

:19:22.:19:29.

as you, Cardiff. He was strong, he ran a competent

:19:29.:19:35.

race yesterday. He controlled it, he ran the race the way he wanted

:19:35.:19:45.
:19:45.:19:50.

Grabarz, he decided to pass on to 0.25 metres. This is 2.27 metres.

:19:50.:19:54.

This would be a real advance on what we have seen from here in

:19:54.:19:59.

Gothenburg. Oh, my goodness, a thought it was going to stay on.

:19:59.:20:07.

That was much, much better. He didn't look as if he was going to

:20:07.:20:12.

get anywhere close to this sort of height yesterday. It was bouncing

:20:12.:20:22.
:20:22.:20:29.

around all over the place. The vault final now. All three of them

:20:29.:20:37.

have cleared 4.62. Nowhere near it. So, she, in fact, will have to go

:20:37.:20:47.
:20:47.:20:50.

again straight away. They were all first-time clearances by a Sudarava.

:20:50.:20:57.

Anna Rogowska, and the Czech Republic athlete. Disappointment

:20:57.:21:01.

for Holly Bleasdale. She will have to go higher, preferably at the

:21:01.:21:11.
:21:11.:21:24.

first attempt, if she wants to be success, but this men's 800 metres

:21:24.:21:34.
:21:34.:21:42.

semi-finals. Joe Thomas has the defending champion, and Lopez.

:21:42.:21:48.

Paula Radcliffe was bright, Joe Thomas, when it is slow, can beat

:21:48.:21:55.

anybody, he has so much pace in the last 200 metres. There are not too

:21:55.:22:00.

many front runners here. The tall Swede may well tried to leave it

:22:00.:22:04.

out again. This man is not that well known but he is the one who

:22:04.:22:10.

put paid to Michael Rimmer. A slow race, he had a lot of pace down the

:22:10.:22:15.

back straight, he went past Michael Rimmer like he was standing still.

:22:16.:22:22.

Watch out. Johan Rogestedt, world youth champion, 20 years of age, he

:22:22.:22:30.

has grown a lot, to be fair! A big lad. Not frightened to get out

:22:30.:22:35.

there in front. Ivan Nesterov, the Russian indoor champion this year,

:22:35.:22:45.
:22:45.:22:46.

a new personal best of 1.47 0.6. That is where Joe Thomas might

:22:46.:22:56.

start to struggle a little. Lopez. Spanish indoor champion, as ever,

:22:56.:23:03.

anyone who wins a Spanish 10 bishops indoors is a danger. Adam

:23:03.:23:09.

Kszczot, defending European indoor champion. A new coach now. Very

:23:09.:23:15.

happy with the way things are going, he says he is really pleased,

:23:15.:23:23.

running new personal bests. He doesn't mind if it is fast or slow.

:23:23.:23:29.

He may well be part of their relay squad. So, Joe Thomas, if he could

:23:29.:23:32.

slowed things from the front, that would be a really good tactic but I

:23:32.:23:40.

have a feeling this week made want to do something rather different. -

:23:40.:23:50.
:23:50.:24:00.

has started quickly. Joe Thomas finds himself at the back. Joe

:24:00.:24:10.
:24:10.:24:24.

Paula Radcliffe's microphone. Joe Thomas is at the back. A good

:24:24.:24:28.

place if he has the legs to strut from, but he needs to get a bit

:24:29.:24:38.
:24:39.:25:06.

place. Joe Thomas is still in touch and has an outside chance still. He

:25:06.:25:11.

needs to be strong down the back straight, give himself a couple of

:25:11.:25:18.

yards and attack. These three are good. Joe Thomas is in 4th place.

:25:18.:25:28.
:25:28.:25:33.

Lopez still in front. Joe Thomas is as much as he could do. The first

:25:33.:25:37.

two we knew about. Anis Ananenka impressed me yesterday. This

:25:37.:25:45.

Belarus man has put paid to two British athletes. Lopez was smart,

:25:45.:25:51.

he controlled it really well, right from the gun. He went fast, slow,

:25:51.:25:58.

speeded it up again. Adam Kszczot was not stretched at all. The

:25:58.:26:05.

Belarus man, Anis Ananenka, the surprise package. Joe Thomas is

:26:05.:26:11.

good, in the latter stages, but not close enough to really strike and

:26:11.:26:21.
:26:21.:26:26.

attack from the last bend, and he Mohammad will go in the next semi-

:26:26.:26:36.
:26:36.:26:42.

final, let us hope he can get into of this long jump competition.

:26:42.:26:46.

Another French record for Eloyse Lesueur in the last round. She

:26:46.:26:56.
:26:56.:27:08.

performance of her life here. European champion last year. She

:27:08.:27:12.

will have it in the back of her mind she is looking at a seven-

:27:12.:27:19.

metre jump now. That is what it would take to beat Darya Klishina

:27:19.:27:23.

who has held onto the lead. Her third French national record in

:27:23.:27:33.
:27:33.:27:47.

this final. Still in second place, foul. We have just seen Jarder of

:27:47.:27:55.

Sweden go out. In the last round, she has lost that valuable third

:27:55.:28:05.
:28:05.:28:21.

place, so no medals for Great You can't say you didn't give it

:28:21.:28:31.
:28:31.:28:37.

I didn't get that clear track, there was never that opportunity to

:28:37.:28:41.

make my move up. I felt coming on the home straight I have an awful

:28:41.:28:47.

lot left but I just didn't time it right. If you were in contention,

:28:47.:28:54.

your place will bring you home every time. The s, -- yes, if the

:28:54.:29:00.

gap had opened up I would have continued on. I just got caught out

:29:00.:29:04.

about 250, 300. As I went to go someone had they pushed and pushed

:29:05.:29:09.

right in front of me. I didn't want to waste my energy and top back-in,

:29:09.:29:19.
:29:19.:29:23.

but the opportunity never came trouble here. 2.27. Third and final

:29:23.:29:33.
:29:33.:29:45.

Olympic bronze medallist will leave here without a medal on this

:29:45.:29:52.

occasion. It has all gone wrong. I must admit, he didn't look is

:29:52.:30:02.
:30:02.:30:09.

British athletes over the last few minutes, but this man is still

:30:09.:30:17.

standing in the 800m. Mukhtar Mohamed in lane six. He was

:30:17.:30:21.

impressive in terms of the way he finished his heat, but he admitted

:30:21.:30:25.

he didn't run tactically well. He allowed himself to be dictated to

:30:25.:30:29.

by the tall Swede in his first- round heat. But he goes he innate

:30:29.:30:34.

good lane because he did qualify by winning his heat. Inside him Mark

:30:34.:30:39.

two Spaniards who might help each other out a little bit. There is

:30:39.:30:49.
:30:49.:31:23.

Cooper's, the Dutch indoor champion the European indoors four years ago.

:31:23.:31:28.

And then Mo Junior, a similar route to Mo Farah. Came over from Somalia

:31:28.:31:32.

as a youngster. Few have the very special talent that Mo Farah has

:31:32.:31:36.

for running, but Mukhtar Mohamed is a very bright prospect indeed.

:31:36.:31:41.

He'll be looking to get his tactics right this time. The first three

:31:41.:31:51.
:31:51.:32:04.

Marco. The two Spaniards coming through to take up the pace, but

:32:04.:32:09.

Mohamed gets in between them. Mark Lowe of Spain who takes the

:32:09.:32:14.

lead. We've got to be careful talking of people's medal chances,

:32:14.:32:18.

but Mukhtar Mohamed comes into this on a learning curve but with a lot

:32:18.:32:21.

to take away from here today. He made the mistake of not running his

:32:21.:32:25.

own race yesterday. Today, he's already attacked more confidently

:32:25.:32:28.

and seems to be sticking to the race plan he will have agreed with

:32:28.:32:33.

his coach. At the moment he is sandwiched in their between the two

:32:33.:32:37.

Spaniards. Now Kupers has come through to nip in there, as they go

:32:37.:32:47.
:32:47.:33:01.

place at the moment. Decent pace, this. Now Mohamed decides he needs

:33:01.:33:05.

to take a bit closer order and be ready to cover any move and 2p of

:33:05.:33:10.

out of trouble. Just three to go through. Repcik beginning to make a

:33:10.:33:20.
:33:20.:33:36.

going to be a close finish for three places. Mohamed in a very

:33:36.:33:42.

good position. Able to look around. He comes through to win well. 1.49.

:33:42.:33:47.

But he never looked troubled. He was always aware of where he was. A

:33:47.:33:53.

very good victory. He moves through comfortably. Beautifully controlled

:33:53.:33:58.

race by Mukhtar Mohamed there. He's looking around, just making sure.

:33:58.:34:02.

Repcik was on his shoulder coming into the final bend. Making sure

:34:02.:34:06.

that nobody was going to kick his heels from behind. I think he will

:34:06.:34:11.

have gained a lot of confidence from that. Bybyk sneaking in there

:34:11.:34:21.
:34:21.:34:37.

not tightening up at all. A little bit too much looking around at that

:34:37.:34:44.

stage. Potential, potential. It might be realised here with, I'll

:34:44.:34:48.

whisper it quietly, a gold medal in the men's 800m. He does look very

:34:48.:34:58.
:34:58.:35:08.

good at the moment. He is safely bar up now. Holly Bleasdale passed

:35:08.:35:18.
:35:18.:35:33.

and she gets it. That has taken a bronze medallist way back in 2004.

:35:33.:35:43.
:35:43.:36:14.

Could she have nailed on another Holly Bleasdale. That, surely, is a

:36:14.:36:24.
:36:24.:36:47.

potential. He's answering a few questions before he gets to Phil

:36:47.:36:52.

Jones. Again, we saw in the heats that he wasn't quite as impressive

:36:52.:36:58.

in his tactics but there he got it spot on. I haven't spoken to him

:36:58.:37:01.

today so I don't know the plan from his coach coming into this, but he

:37:01.:37:05.

certainly ran with a lot more confidence. Indoors is a lot more

:37:05.:37:14.

What a tremendous performance. You learned so much from yesterday.

:37:15.:37:24.
:37:25.:37:26.

Definitely. I got a lot of advice from yesterday from all of the

:37:26.:37:31.

staff. I learnt from what I did yesterday and today I felt so

:37:31.:37:36.

comfortable. One thing you also said yesterday, you came in to win

:37:36.:37:45.

a medal. Yes. I smell the medal now! Hopefully tomorrow I will get

:37:45.:37:49.

the gold, that's the target for me. Tell me about that performance

:37:49.:37:55.

today and how you felt out there. Well, I'm confident to get in the

:37:55.:38:01.

front. If I go in the back, like yesterday, I did a horrible race.

:38:01.:38:07.

Today, doing this plan, if I do the same tomorrow then it will be good.

:38:07.:38:11.

We can see your autograph hunters are growing enforced day by day.

:38:11.:38:16.

Yes, it feels great when the kids come up to you, trying to get a

:38:16.:38:26.
:38:26.:38:27.

photograph. All the very best for at the top of the leaderboard in

:38:27.:38:37.
:38:37.:38:45.

No. She's in equal first place because of the fact that at the

:38:45.:38:54.

last type, for 0.67, both athletes It's looking like a medal for Holly

:38:54.:38:59.

Bleasdale. But there was no medal for Shara Proctor. Right at the

:38:59.:39:09.
:39:09.:39:15.

death, the medal was taken away so far, but then she produced this

:39:15.:39:21.

in the final round. This Swedish crowd have been waiting to be

:39:21.:39:24.

inspired and waiting for the medals to come. It came in the shape of

:39:24.:39:31.

this young lady. A great approach, her run-up was strong. She got her

:39:31.:39:34.

just rewards. The Shara had been sitting in that bronze-medal

:39:34.:39:43.

position from the first round. She was never completely safe with 6.69.

:39:43.:39:47.

Great reactions. We heard the screams from here. It was really

:39:47.:39:53.

exciting to see Jarder do so well. But very disappointing for our girl.

:39:53.:39:57.

What we should say is a Shara did have a chance to respond. She did.

:39:57.:40:02.

She did one really well. I'm not sure whether you are going to see

:40:02.:40:12.
:40:12.:40:23.

it. She definitely attacked the run did brilliantly. This is her third

:40:23.:40:27.

round jump? Yes. She didn't run well but on that last jump, when

:40:27.:40:32.

she needed to give it everything, she did, but she just got fouled

:40:32.:40:42.
:40:42.:40:46.

national records and Klishina with 7.01. That is a world leader. It

:40:47.:40:50.

just goes to prove what these championships are all about. People

:40:50.:40:56.

are trying to perform at the highest level. Klishina's jump of

:40:56.:41:00.

7.01 is a lifetime best for her. When she jumped back in the very

:41:00.:41:04.

first round, you can see she responded with a little jump and

:41:04.:41:07.

then tried to calm herself to say, OK, this is only round one, things

:41:07.:41:17.

can happen. 7.01 was enough. Disappointment in the high jump for

:41:17.:41:24.

Robbie Grabarz. He came here with very high hopes, jumped 2.31

:41:24.:41:29.

indoors. We fancied him to rise to the occasion but this was 2.27, a

:41:29.:41:39.
:41:39.:41:42.

over with his mum, who said he was feeling good, he was optimistic. To

:41:42.:41:47.

me, he looked a little heavy lead. I don't know whether he's still

:41:47.:41:51.

been lifting really heavily coming into the competition, but it just

:41:51.:41:56.

wasn't right there. Disappointment for Robbie Grabarz. It's going much

:41:56.:42:06.
:42:06.:42:09.

better in the pole vault for Holly is equal first place for those two

:42:09.:42:14.

athletes at the moment. If they both fail it, it's going to go to a

:42:14.:42:18.

jump off. The drama has not finished by any stretch of the

:42:18.:42:24.

imagination. Each of them as one more attempt. For 0.72 is the

:42:24.:42:34.
:42:34.:43:02.

The athletes need to try to respond to this. Particularly the likes of

:43:02.:43:12.

Aitken's Aryeetey. -- Aikines- Aryeetey. Harry has probably got

:43:12.:43:22.
:43:22.:43:32.

the most difficult of the two races bronze medal outdoors. Looking to

:43:32.:43:36.

do better than that indoors here. It's not his forte but he looked

:43:36.:43:39.

pretty good in qualification. This is the man has been a big surprise

:43:39.:43:43.

package of the indoor season in Europe. 6.51 he ran in the Italian

:43:43.:43:48.

championships. He looked good in qualification. A big improvement

:43:48.:43:55.

this year. Harry ran much better in qualification than I think he did

:43:55.:44:02.

in Birmingham. He's been hovering around the mid- 6.60. He's going to

:44:02.:44:06.

have to be a bit better than that. This man has been a bit of a

:44:06.:44:10.

surprise. He ran the Romanian Championships where he equalled the

:44:10.:44:20.
:44:20.:44:37.

record. He looks sharp. Biron, not you have got to try to maintain

:44:37.:44:42.

through. This man has really improved. Not the best action you

:44:42.:44:52.
:44:52.:44:52.

will see when he runs. Heat is a pocket Rocket, the Italian, Michael

:44:52.:45:02.
:45:02.:45:32.

this event every championships a chance for 4th place. A blanket

:45:32.:45:37.

finish. That guy it is really impressive. He is winning his races.

:45:37.:45:43.

Not the best start from Michael Tumi. Harry just didn't get away,

:45:43.:45:53.
:45:53.:45:58.

finish. Michael Tumi looking comfortable. Difficult to beat.

:45:58.:46:06.

Emmanuel Biron third. In fact, they are giving Harry third. He has a

:46:06.:46:16.
:46:16.:46:20.

big chest. Putting it to good really fight. Those last five it

:46:20.:46:30.
:46:30.:46:48.

the good news, it may be Catalin champion. The next few moments will

:46:48.:46:58.
:46:58.:47:00.

tell us if Britain has its first time in a row. So, the only athlete

:47:00.:47:04.

left in action is Holly Bleasdale from Great Britain. This could be

:47:04.:47:12.

the greatest moment of her life. She has already won a bronze medal

:47:12.:47:16.

at the World Indoor Championships. England Under 23 champion as well.

:47:16.:47:26.
:47:26.:47:50.

But, going for the senior champion Bleasdale. She won the World

:47:50.:47:53.

Championships bronze-medal indoors last year. 12 months on,

:47:53.:47:58.

competitively, added she is a much better athlete. She did jump high

:47:58.:48:05.

last year. This is all about Championship call medal

:48:05.:48:15.
:48:15.:48:17.

performances. -- gold medal. Her best attempt so far. I can 10

:48:17.:48:23.

you, the battle goes on. We haven't decided who has gold and silver yet.

:48:23.:48:29.

The organisers have two separate them. Anna Rogowska against Holly

:48:29.:48:39.
:48:39.:48:49.

Harry has been waiting patiently. You have done neurone bit to get

:48:49.:48:59.
:48:59.:49:00.

yourself into medal contention. -- your own bit. The support I have

:49:00.:49:07.

got, staff, socially, it has helped a lot. I got left in the blocks a

:49:07.:49:13.

little bit. I came through very well. I am in the final. You came

:49:13.:49:19.

through amazingly well. We switched up in training. The idea it is to

:49:19.:49:25.

make the final. I wasn't right in the top 10. I am in the top eight

:49:25.:49:35.
:49:35.:49:36.

decided. Both athletes at the previous successful height have

:49:36.:49:42.

exactly the same record. One failure, one success. So, they

:49:42.:49:47.

should at least be given another attempt at the height they have

:49:47.:49:53.

both failed at three times, for. Scented two. If that is successful

:49:53.:49:57.

from both points of view, the bar will be dropped down, until the

:49:57.:50:02.

first athlete to Click it successfully gets it. If the second

:50:02.:50:10.

athlete gets it as well, we carried on until we get a distinct winner.

James Sasaolu storming through to take it. A stunning run. From the

:52:28.:52:34.

well but, my goodness, he picked up well, the Frenchman looked as if,

:52:34.:52:44.
:52:44.:52:46.

perhaps, he was coasting a little bit. The speed was there. Lasley,

:52:46.:52:56.
:52:56.:53:14.

all-time list, well done, James. Rose also coming through. I thought

:53:14.:53:24.
:53:24.:53:33.

the French athlete was the best caption with the same height being

:53:33.:53:39.

tried twice. We are involved in a Championship jump off for the gold

medal. Anna Rogowska of Poland against Holly Bleasdale of Great

:53:44.:53:51.

Britain. Anna Rogowska it is such an experienced competitor. At 31

:53:51.:53:58.

years of age. She has been around the major arenas for almost a

:53:58.:54:03.

decade now. Anna Rogowska, going for a potential gold medal winning

:54:03.:54:09.

jump, that was her best attempt on that height so far. Holly Bleasdale,

:54:09.:54:19.
:54:19.:54:27.

Arena. James going through to the semi-final of the 60m. Holly

:54:27.:54:31.

Bleasdale in the jump off for gold. A strong performance for Holly

:54:31.:54:37.

Bleasdale to be here. Her 4th attempt at this. A good third

:54:37.:54:47.
:54:47.:54:49.

season, Holly Bleasdale has the advantage. She is coming to display

:54:49.:54:57.

that character and consistency she needs. It has been a mixed set of

:54:57.:55:01.

fortunes, Shara Proctor just missing the medals, Robbie Grabarz.
