The athletics season is really gathering pace now. The Diamond

:00:50.:00:54.

League meetings coming thick and fast. Oslo being the first of two

:00:55.:00:58.

back-to-back meetings in Scandinavia. The athletes went in

:00:59.:01:02.

knowing there was just 50 days to go until the World Championships in

:01:03.:01:08.

London. MUSIC PLAYS

:01:09.:01:33.

# Jump, jump... #. Let's get straight into the action

:01:34.:01:42.

with your commentators Steve and Stewart.

:01:43.:01:48.

COMMENTATOR: Welcome to the famous Steve Cram sitting next to me.

:01:49.:01:57.

Steve, fond memories, dodgy? -- welcome to the famous Yes, the 400

:01:58.:02:12.

metres for the men. A little chilly. The breeze picked up, so not how --

:02:13.:02:20.

sure how quick this will go. The man who is the quickest in the field,

:02:21.:02:24.

for all European track fans. . The men's 400 metres. They got

:02:25.:02:46.

away pretty evenly. Pretty quick start in the orange, making up a

:02:47.:02:52.

little bit of room. Hudson Smith started fast as well down the back

:02:53.:02:56.

straight. Gentle bends in Oslo than the old days, attacking through that

:02:57.:03:06.

first 200 metres, Hudson-Smith, but the question is will he be able to

:03:07.:03:10.

hang on? A big lead going into the home straight, but it is a long haul

:03:11.:03:17.

straight here in Oslo. Maslak finishing quickly as well, but

:03:18.:03:20.

Hudson-Smith hanging on at the moment. Thebe come through and is

:03:21.:03:29.

going to get it. He wins it. 44.93. I said he never ran under 45 seconds

:03:30.:03:33.

outside of Africa. That is the first time for him. And huge talent, this

:03:34.:03:39.

boy. Good run from Hudson-Smith, gave him something to attack, but he

:03:40.:03:44.

could not hold of this young man. Don't forget as an under 20 years

:03:45.:03:48.

the second fastest of all time behind Steve Lewis. But 44.95, the

:03:49.:03:57.

winning time. Yes, great run by Hudson-Smith, right the way round to

:03:58.:04:03.

300 metres, just hang on here, but Thebe judged his race perfectly. A

:04:04.:04:09.

little steadier, and Maslak in third place. Maslak always goes off

:04:10.:04:14.

quickly but this time he was caught out because this youngster, Thebe,

:04:15.:04:23.

as Steve said, he had 44.89 to his credit this season and there is a

:04:24.:04:27.

lot more to come. There is the full result. A good start for

:04:28.:04:30.

Hudson-Smith and a very positive run from a very wide lane. He had to run

:04:31.:04:34.

it hard, run it well, and almost got it, but not quite. This is her first

:04:35.:04:50.

attempt. Ryzih. Tall, elegant, very powerful, and that was a very good

:04:51.:04:53.

clearance down the middle of the bar. A good technique, very quick on

:04:54.:05:01.

the runway, and she has the height and really drives the pole end,

:05:02.:05:11.

equalling the season's best. Yes, and Silva, she was second in Rome,

:05:12.:05:16.

wasn't she? A good performance for her. She has had a good start. That

:05:17.:05:25.

is nice. It will get crowded at that top end. The pole vault is an early

:05:26.:05:29.

because we had the men's high jump at the top end, so this is coming

:05:30.:05:33.

across. A little bit of sheltered from the window. Any wind is coming

:05:34.:05:36.

slightly off that right shoulder, which will not help matters too

:05:37.:05:43.

much, but Silva is clear that time. Yes, a good competitor, this young

:05:44.:05:50.

woman. It has been a bit of a struggle for Sidorova, having had

:05:51.:05:59.

two failures, one of them really ragged.

:06:00.:06:00.

She really has to get this time right. Ah, look at that! Sidorova,

:06:01.:06:08.

mail is clear on that occasion, finally getting it right. As I said,

:06:09.:06:12.

it has been a little difficult in terms of her approach. Obviously as

:06:13.:06:21.

Russian, now competing as a ANA. Look at the room, fairly comparable

:06:22.:06:24.

for in the end. She was running at high risk strategy there. I'm sure

:06:25.:06:28.

it was not her strategy. Her third attempt.

:06:29.:06:35.

Still to come... CJ Ujah has another chance to shine in the 100 metres.

:06:36.:06:41.

Caster Semenya has not been beaten in the 800 metres for nearly two

:06:42.:06:45.

years. Lynsey Sharp is amongst those trying to change that. In the home

:06:46.:06:52.

of the Dream Mile, promising 1500 metres includes Charlie Grice and

:06:53.:06:55.

Jake Wightman, and we will have the best of the action from the field

:06:56.:07:01.

events. COMMENTATOR: Sidorova, first

:07:02.:07:02.

attempt. Oh, yeah. She is there. Look at

:07:03.:07:18.

that. So she moves ahead of the rest of the field now with that. She was

:07:19.:07:26.

struggling early on, behind Ryzih and Silva, but that is a lead for

:07:27.:07:31.

her on that occasion, in my opinion. Yes, she goes ahead of them. So

:07:32.:07:38.

Silva then, having one failure, passed. Up to 4.81. Houster that the

:07:39.:07:44.

pressure on the others, she goes clear here and she certainly will do

:07:45.:07:47.

that. Look at her, so athletics on the of that pole -- she can increase

:07:48.:07:55.

the pressure on the others if she goes clear here. Best for her, 4.8

:07:56.:08:01.

one. Remember she was the world champion -- the world champion of

:08:02.:08:06.

2015 will be defending that, the silver-medallist back at the

:08:07.:08:08.

Olympics in London in 2012, coming into some nice form. A little bit of

:08:09.:08:14.

a gamble paying off for her. Now the pressure is on to Silva and Ryzih.

:08:15.:08:22.

You can see the discus cage in front of you. This is actually there is

:08:23.:08:28.

coming into the circle and both the men and women are throwing back and

:08:29.:08:37.

forward alternatively -- this is Perez coming into the circle. We

:08:38.:08:41.

will see what she can do. That is still pretty good, looks around

:08:42.:08:45.

about 66. Really hammers that one, just clipping the side of the

:08:46.:08:48.

netting as well which must have taken a little bit out of the force

:08:49.:08:55.

of that discus, but she was happy with that. Not surprised, a season's

:08:56.:09:09.

best. This one is quite competitive. You can see the line-up here. The

:09:10.:09:20.

women's 100-metre hurdles. Pedersen was going well but in the

:09:21.:09:54.

end Dutkiewicz got it in the end, and the German came through very

:09:55.:09:58.

strongly for me in the end. In the end, she was flying. Dutkiewicz, who

:09:59.:10:05.

had the pedigree, Kemen, and that was 12.73, incidentally. A good

:10:06.:10:08.

finish, and it was a tough race. It was always going to be competitive,

:10:09.:10:13.

but, my goodness me, in the first-half of the race Pedersen had

:10:14.:10:16.

that tied up, gave it absolutely everything. Castlin came through,

:10:17.:10:24.

just overtook Pedersen, but both given the same time. What a cracking

:10:25.:10:28.

race in front of her home crowd here. Ran a brilliant race, didn't

:10:29.:10:32.

do anything wrong, just really could not hang on in the end, the charge

:10:33.:10:36.

of Dutkiewicz and Castlin just getting their ahead of her. You can

:10:37.:10:40.

see how she just didn't come off that last hurdle, almost losing her

:10:41.:10:43.

balance, cleared it all day but couldn't really maintain the same

:10:44.:10:48.

sort of momentum. Hurdling well but starting to stream a little bit.

:10:49.:10:52.

Coming quickly, and Castlin as well who didn't get the best of starts,

:10:53.:10:56.

chasing her down, but what a good performance by the Norwegian. Watch

:10:57.:11:01.

this here. Well done, avoided injury. She was immediately looking

:11:02.:11:07.

over to see... Did I win it, did I not? Almost. There is the result.

:11:08.:11:14.

Yes, Dutkiewicz, Castlin and Pedersen, the three. The German, and

:11:15.:11:23.

we saw Silva go clear first time, and she has to clear this here

:11:24.:11:27.

otherwise that is it for her. No, no... A little bit of a break for

:11:28.:11:32.

the opening ceremony and I don't think that helped in terms of the

:11:33.:11:34.

rhythm of the event, certainly for her. Going out at 4.8 one. Soccer

:11:35.:11:47.

third and final attempt for Sidorova at 4.81. -- so it is a third and

:11:48.:11:53.

final attempt. She desperately needs this. Oh, no, no. To cover the lead

:11:54.:12:00.

at 4.65, then all of a sudden found herself under pressure from Silva.

:12:01.:12:05.

She will end up second here. -- took over the lead. And the first round

:12:06.:12:15.

of the men's competition. Well, not a bad start from him. Round about

:12:16.:12:25.

the 65-metre mark. Perhaps that little breeze helping, not sure how

:12:26.:12:29.

much it is getting down to track level. A breeze more than anything

:12:30.:12:35.

else. They would like a little of that integrate rather than against.

:12:36.:12:47.

We saw Silva clear 4.8 one. Boot it up to 4.9 two. Has not really had a

:12:48.:12:51.

good attempt but this is her third attempt. A tad better, but not

:12:52.:12:55.

really getting there. Have to be happy with 4.81, though, as even's

:12:56.:13:04.

best for the Cuban. The world champion will be heading to London

:13:05.:13:10.

in good form. Second in Rio and then winning in Oslo with that 4.81

:13:11.:13:14.

clearance. Getting better and improving as the season goes on. And

:13:15.:13:25.

Sidorova taking second place with Ryzih Germany third. We have a 1500

:13:26.:13:32.

later on in this Diamond League, but this is the man they have all come

:13:33.:13:33.

to see... The middle distance star, Filip

:13:34.:13:49.

Ingebrigsten. And some of the supporters. Watching his younger

:13:50.:13:57.

brother here, Henrik. This young boy has been breaking records since aged

:13:58.:14:08.

14 and recently ran as a 16-year-old, just phenomenal. This

:14:09.:14:12.

is in front of his home crowd and a chance to see if he can go any

:14:13.:14:21.

quicker. So the under 23 mile. A couple of pacemakers. The organisers

:14:22.:14:26.

said we could not find under 20s to go quicker so they had to roll a

:14:27.:14:32.

couple of older guys. Robinson of Ireland taking the first lap. Then

:14:33.:14:41.

the Australian trying to take them through 1200 metres. And Filip

:14:42.:14:45.

Ingebrigsten Ben left with the other competitors to see what he can do.

:14:46.:14:49.

The crowd getting behind them. They want to go through the first 400 at

:14:50.:14:56.

around 58 seconds and then try to settle down. But this boy is a

:14:57.:15:07.

massive talent. He ran 342 here in 2016 as a 15-year-old. Now showing

:15:08.:15:13.

us that he just keeps improving. Here we go, spot on from the

:15:14.:15:19.

pacemaker. It was a good start. Most of these young men have not run a

:15:20.:15:23.

mile in the past. So we had been able to make some kind of

:15:24.:15:28.

comparison. But you're right that Filip Ingebrigsten was fantastic in

:15:29.:15:35.

the Eugene mile. He is coming up to 17 but goodness me what a prospect

:15:36.:15:40.

if he continues to develop. Remember Usain Bolt developed from a

:15:41.:15:44.

15-year-old like the way through to the senior ranks. This is a long

:15:45.:15:48.

distance version in a way. Or could be. Actually the canyon is quite

:15:49.:15:57.

useful, running wide in the red vest at the moment. Definitely capable of

:15:58.:16:09.

contesting over the last 300, 400 metres. So tucking in behind the

:16:10.:16:16.

pacemakers, Filip Ingebrigsten. Just slotting back in. And then behind

:16:17.:16:23.

them the Moroccan and the others just strung out a little bit. As you

:16:24.:16:30.

would expect. A couple of 17 roles, Belgian guys, further back. So the

:16:31.:16:35.

first pacemaker drops out. Starting to push on a little bit now. Filip

:16:36.:16:40.

Ingebrigsten looking comfortable. Full of composure and 16. An amazing

:16:41.:16:45.

talent. And he moves into the position where he will want to hold.

:16:46.:16:55.

The third lap in the 1500 metres race, just dropping off the pace a

:16:56.:17:06.

little bit as Filip Ingebrigsten stays with the pacemaker. A little

:17:07.:17:13.

bit of a gap opening up. And there we go with just one lap to go. He is

:17:14.:17:24.

heading for a quick time. The pacemaker just looking behind. It is

:17:25.:17:30.

an under 20 race and he cannot finish it. There he goes, Filip

:17:31.:17:38.

Ingebrigsten being chased down. The Moroccan chasing down Filip

:17:39.:17:45.

Ingebrigsten. It could be between these two. With 200 to go, Filip

:17:46.:17:50.

Ingebrigsten. He wants to run under four minutes in front of this crowd

:17:51.:17:53.

and he kicks away again. Opening up another couple of metres. And they

:17:54.:18:00.

are rising for this 16-year-old here in this stadium. One of their own

:18:01.:18:09.

here. Starting out on what could be a superb career. 356. Taking another

:18:10.:18:19.

couple of seconds from his personal best. He is 16! Congratulations.

:18:20.:18:39.

Well done, mate. 16 years of age. 3:56.20 nine. We have had some great

:18:40.:18:48.

teenagers over the years. But he's only 16 and really setting out on

:18:49.:18:54.

what we think is going to be a cracking career. His only problem

:18:55.:19:02.

how to get rid of the pacemaker. He just looked so assured

:19:03.:19:12.

uncomfortable. I thought he would not be quite so fast but he picked

:19:13.:19:18.

up incredibly well. Get inspired is on the BBC Sport website, and to get

:19:19.:19:26.

you active. You can get inspired by people just like you as well as

:19:27.:19:30.

practical guides to help you give something ago. Also we have an

:19:31.:19:34.

activity finder to help you find something to try near you. Get

:19:35.:19:44.

inspired and get active. The men's discus.

:19:45.:19:55.

A big fellow, Stahl. That is just on the 65 metres. Stahl is a

:19:56.:20:06.

powerhouse, a big man. Fifth in the World Championships in Beijing.

:20:07.:20:17.

Plenty of big guys around here. Just take a look at this, a few minutes

:20:18.:20:21.

ago, the first round of the long jump.

:20:22.:20:33.

This is Blessing Okagbare and look what happens, lost her hair piece.

:20:34.:20:46.

It jumped five metres! A little bit of an embarrassing moment. I have

:20:47.:20:57.

never seen that, ever. I'm sure she wishes we had not seen it. This will

:20:58.:21:04.

get replayed over and over I am pretty sure. She seems unperturbed!

:21:05.:21:17.

Whatever! Just trying to get ahead. Over in the women's discus, third

:21:18.:21:33.

round, almost going out of the circle there, Caballero. An

:21:34.:21:37.

improvement on her first thrillers. Struggling to hang on but just

:21:38.:21:45.

manage it. The lead still held Perez. Three times Olympic champion,

:21:46.:22:03.

from the United States. Really quick on the runway, over about 6.50. So

:22:04.:22:15.

quick on the runway, a lovely little hang, not quite there. A bit of

:22:16.:22:19.

forward rotation. Really does not get a good leg should in the end.

:22:20.:22:29.

Needs much more on the end of that. So just saying yes, coach, I did not

:22:30.:22:36.

quite get that right. The win last week in Rome was an impressive

:22:37.:22:40.

victory for CJ Ujah of the UK where he saw off the challenge Ronnie

:22:41.:22:45.

Baker and will be looking for another good performance in school.

:22:46.:22:56.

He faces Andre De Grasse. Add to that the British bid rivals and we

:22:57.:23:01.

have a fascinating race in prospect. The men's 100 metres, a big star,

:23:02.:23:13.

Andre De Grasse. And CJ Ujah, the winner in Rome. And Adam Gemili, 200

:23:14.:23:20.

metres, perhaps his best event. Did not look so good the other day and

:23:21.:23:24.

will be looking to improve over 100 metres. Also in good form the French

:23:25.:23:38.

man, Jimmy Vicaut. Andre De Grasse, in good form. Can he hang on to CJ

:23:39.:23:43.

Ujah? And then Reece Prescod, 21 years

:23:44.:24:06.

old, a Brit, massive talent. A good 200-metre runner as well. Just

:24:07.:24:11.

outside his personal best this year on the 100 metres.

:24:12.:24:24.

The men's 100 metres. CJ Ujah gets a pretty good start. Jimmy Vicaut

:24:25.:24:30.

going well. It is going to be close. Coming right through the middle,

:24:31.:24:38.

Andre De Grasse and he wins it. Ten .0 two. Hard to run quickly in Oslo,

:24:39.:24:44.

I do not know why. These really fast times. There was a slight following

:24:45.:24:48.

breeze and that was quite a tough race for all of them. Anyone had a

:24:49.:24:56.

chance it seemed. CJ Ujah definitely got out well and has got second

:24:57.:25:00.

place. A very good start from CJ Ujah. Jimmy Vicaut just started to

:25:01.:25:09.

fade. Adam Gemili was fading a little bit. It was very close but a

:25:10.:25:16.

clear win for Andre De Grasse of Canada. Let's take a look at that

:25:17.:25:21.

start again. , slowly and get into your running. And look at CJ Ujah,

:25:22.:25:26.

absolutely grimacing in the final stages and probably just trying to

:25:27.:25:31.

do a bit too much. Andre De Grasse is the winner. Not much in it. There

:25:32.:25:39.

are clear of Adam Gemili. She had a bit of a slow start to

:25:40.:25:54.

this season, and will be looking to improve,, Lorraine Ugen. That is

:25:55.:25:59.

much better. Pretty good on the board. Again did not quite get the

:26:00.:26:05.

extension at the end. Just need that little bit more. That is perfect,

:26:06.:26:14.

could not be any better. Bronze-medallist of the world

:26:15.:26:17.

indoors, Lorraine Ugen. A cracking indoor season in 2016. Not quite as

:26:18.:26:25.

transferring that to the outdoors. Moves into third place with that.

:26:26.:26:37.

This is the third round throw in the discus, one of these athletes that

:26:38.:26:45.

can pull out those big throws, Milanov. That looks a good flight.

:26:46.:26:56.

He has got horrific height. That moves him into third place. Here is

:26:57.:27:11.

Stahl. Not much of a lead for this sweet. A big cheer. That is a big

:27:12.:27:26.

improvement. Stahl has thrown 68 metres this year, he is in pretty

:27:27.:27:33.

good form, the 24-year-old. Thumbs up from him. That is more like it.

:27:34.:27:38.

The women's long jump, some real talent. That looks very

:27:39.:28:04.

good. Lovely technique, very neat. I wonder if that will advance her

:28:05.:28:12.

position. It is very close. Moving into the lead by two centimetres.

:28:13.:28:21.

And over in the discus a man already having a good season. What can he

:28:22.:28:30.

do, third round. That looks better. The flight is better as well. And

:28:31.:28:41.

just below the lead. He is quick and very athletic in the circle, the

:28:42.:28:42.

Jamaican. Vicks the women's 800 metres, what a

:28:43.:29:04.

line-up, with Semenya, Niyonsaba, there is Lynsey Sharp of Great

:29:05.:29:05.

Britain as well. Niyonsaba upside-down! A catalogue

:29:06.:29:29.

of errors tonight in Oslo! Lynsey Sharp, champion back in 2012 of

:29:30.:29:32.

course. Caster Semenya, I don't know how you will beat this woman. She

:29:33.:29:39.

just dominates whatever you run, a devastating last 200 metres. Miller

:29:40.:29:47.

Sir Bishop of Canada is there, and also the former world champion who

:29:48.:29:56.

won in 2013, Sum, and Niyonsaba, who has been going well of late. It is

:29:57.:30:02.

absolutely star-studded, this event, it really is, Sum going off pretty

:30:03.:30:09.

quickly into the back straight, the former world champion of course. A

:30:10.:30:13.

big bunch of athletes trying to get into position. Niyonsaba, the tall

:30:14.:30:24.

figure in the middle, and of course Lindh taking it very wide indeed.

:30:25.:30:29.

How do they beat Semenya? Just be careful, ladies. A little bit of

:30:30.:30:32.

pushing and shoving. I do not think they will be able to. You have to

:30:33.:30:37.

run your own race, and obviously athletes at different stages in

:30:38.:30:43.

their season. The likes of Lynsey Sharp yet to get going, and yet to

:30:44.:30:48.

get going in this race as well. On the outside. Semenya will just glide

:30:49.:30:56.

through here, pretty good lap. 57.5, but Semenya sitting back waiting,

:30:57.:31:00.

biding her time. Niyonsaba is the leading athletes chasing the

:31:01.:31:07.

pacemaker. Wambui next to her, then Semenya following power. And then it

:31:08.:31:14.

is Almanza. Spreading out on that back straight. Semenya looks so

:31:15.:31:19.

comfortable, and Almanza looks good at the moment. The pacemaker is gone

:31:20.:31:25.

and Niyonsaba is there. Of course the Olympic medallist last year.

:31:26.:31:28.

Semenya and Niyonsaba following her. The big three out in front, and I

:31:29.:31:32.

think it is Almanza coming into fourth place. Yes, it is Almanza,

:31:33.:31:41.

putting pressure on Niyonsaba. Semenya has such a terrific last 200

:31:42.:31:46.

metres. There she is again. A best time of 1:51.66 this season, but a

:31:47.:31:54.

good run by Niyonsaba for second place. Third place, Niyonsaba just

:31:55.:32:05.

hold of Lindh, and that is 1:57.60, and once again the race went to

:32:06.:32:10.

script. Well, you know, going to script. But it nearly didn't.

:32:11.:32:17.

Semenya, Niyonsaba and Niyonsaba, but a cracking run from Lovisa

:32:18.:32:21.

Lindh, close to a personal best for her, that will be, and the big race

:32:22.:32:24.

of the season for. But Semenya winning as she wanted. Niyonsaba

:32:25.:32:28.

Hadda go, didn't she, down the back straight? Putting on some pressure,

:32:29.:32:33.

but Semenya easily close the gap. Look at the difference here.

:32:34.:32:37.

Niyonsaba going for it, and Semenya cruising, absolutely cruising. We

:32:38.:32:42.

will roll this through to the World Championships and I don't think we

:32:43.:32:49.

will see anything different. Trying to get some support from the crowd

:32:50.:32:51.

in the home straight. They are enjoying the long jump. 6.50 second

:32:52.:32:59.

round, going in the third. Again not quite finishing off there. Very good

:33:00.:33:04.

on the board, generating a pretty good speed here. Looking for it

:33:05.:33:11.

there, but not quite. It does not look as though that will improve her

:33:12.:33:19.

position. Drop down to fourth because Klishina moved into the

:33:20.:33:29.

lead, then Bartoletta. 6.47 for her, and we are in the early stages of

:33:30.:33:38.

the men's high jump. And this is his first competition of the season.

:33:39.:33:48.

Easy... He will not be taking those tracksuit bottoms off for a little

:33:49.:33:52.

while yet, I would think. That becomes his season's best. Well,

:33:53.:34:02.

Barshim then. Nice and comfortable, taking off well away from the bar

:34:03.:34:07.

area. World Championship silver-medallist and a

:34:08.:34:10.

silver-medallist last year. But remember Brussels 2014? 2.43, two

:34:11.:34:18.

centimetres below the world record. The world record was set in 1989 at

:34:19.:34:25.

227. I wonder whether we will see that equalled or beating today as

:34:26.:34:28.

the competition develops -- it was set in 1989 at 2.37. The fourth

:34:29.:34:37.

round of the women's discus now. No throw on the third round. This is

:34:38.:34:43.

her fourth. Perkovic. What can she do here? She often pulls out a big

:34:44.:34:50.

throw, so athletic. Powerful, transfer to wait so well, and runs

:34:51.:34:55.

across, but watch it, that kilogram discus, and that looks a good one

:34:56.:35:00.

and it is, well over 65. She knew that was good and you could always

:35:01.:35:03.

tell it was good, once they are in the circle. But she rotates so

:35:04.:35:08.

powerfully. Technically very good. A little better, she says. She is

:35:09.:35:12.

never content with anything unless over 70, I would think. But 66.79.

:35:13.:35:48.

Less than 50 days to the start of the World Championships but plenty

:35:49.:35:53.

more athletics on the BBC before then to get you in the mood. Next

:35:54.:36:00.

weekend is the European Championships in Lille, and you can

:36:01.:36:05.

for that with the red button on Saturday. The following week, the

:36:06.:36:08.

World Championship trials from Birmingham, as Britain's best battle

:36:09.:36:12.

it out in the team for London. The week after that, on the 9th of July,

:36:13.:36:18.

the Anniversary Games are alive from the London Stadium on BBC One. And

:36:19.:36:23.

in the meantime, of course, the Diamond League Highlights continue.

:36:24.:36:31.

COMMENTATOR: 2.29, going for 2.3 two. Tracksuit bottoms off this

:36:32.:36:36.

time. Oh, no! This men's high jump is falling apart, isn't it?

:36:37.:36:41.

Expecting it to be really good, and here we are, only two men in it. Is

:36:42.:36:45.

booked to Robbie this morning and he said he had bruised his heel in

:36:46.:36:50.

Shanghai, said he really made a mistake there, and obviously it

:36:51.:36:55.

hasn't recovered and had an effect on his confidence, that's for sure.

:36:56.:37:00.

He is much better than that. 2.32 then for Bondarenko. And with

:37:01.:37:12.

Barshim and Bondarenko, the only two left, Barshim now has another go.

:37:13.:37:16.

But the only thing I would say, Steve, it is a big field. A great

:37:17.:37:29.

clearance by Barshim. The Barshim clearance, 2.32, the first time, he

:37:30.:37:32.

has had clearances all the way through, Kemen at two by 20. As you

:37:33.:37:42.

were saying, with Robbie Gordon, and the Olympic champion, going out at

:37:43.:37:50.

2.29, suggest these two left, Barshim and Bondarenko. And into the

:37:51.:37:58.

fourth round of the discus. Just gets past the cage there. That is

:37:59.:38:13.

better from him. Stahl still leaving with 67.36. This one will not be far

:38:14.:38:21.

off. Certainly in the range, and he says take-back, 66.3 nine. That puts

:38:22.:38:29.

him into third, Milanov. Congratulations for the rest of the

:38:30.:38:34.

guys. And a big jump this, for Bondarenko, and if he doesn't get it

:38:35.:38:41.

then Barshim has won and won eight at 2.3 two. That was the worst of

:38:42.:38:46.

the three. Oh, well. Nowhere near the form we thought we would get

:38:47.:38:53.

here. Nobody going beyond 2.29 apart from Barshim. Next on the tracks,

:38:54.:39:02.

Karsten Warholm, the very talented 21-year-old Norwegian. He recently

:39:03.:39:06.

ran a new Norwegian record over the flat 400, a 44.87. He would have won

:39:07.:39:15.

the flat 400 with that time tonight. There he is, personal best in a

:39:16.:39:18.

series of distances endorsed this year and he is up against this man,

:39:19.:39:27.

the Olympic champion, Kerron Clement. All eyes are on that race

:39:28.:39:35.

there. And we have the European champion from 2014. A good field

:39:36.:39:36.

here. I were clearly, and Barr has got off

:39:37.:39:56.

Prydie quickly. Not much to choose between him and Clement. -- pretty

:39:57.:40:02.

quickly. Clement probably would have a metre on the young Norwegian. The

:40:03.:40:07.

champion has really set out really quickly. The two of them neck and

:40:08.:40:18.

neck, and Hann going well in lane five. The Olympic champion gets

:40:19.:40:21.

there! The crowd realise it, their manners in front! Coming down the

:40:22.:40:30.

home straight, one more... Warholm's .biz, yet the last one hard...

:40:31.:40:39.

Warholm wins it! 48.26, another record and another personal best. A

:40:40.:40:43.

big performance, and that has got them on their feet. And now it is a

:40:44.:40:57.

400-metre burglar. The organiser comes to give him a big hug, because

:40:58.:41:02.

that is what he needs. That is what they have all come to see, a bit of

:41:03.:41:08.

Norwegian success. Another national record for this young man. Clement

:41:09.:41:16.

got it horribly wrong, he went out hard, and through the first two

:41:17.:41:20.

ruddles, maybe half a metre or so, then as he went round the top end,

:41:21.:41:25.

hurdles seven and eight, then Clement got into trouble. Yes, he

:41:26.:41:30.

got into big trouble. But certainly Warholm on the basis of that flat

:41:31.:41:37.

400-metre time, and the Turkish bronze-medallist as well, really

:41:38.:41:40.

challenging well in the final stage, Copello. Thomas Barr of Ireland,

:41:41.:41:44.

that was a good one, but when you see this man Warholm, when you have

:41:45.:41:47.

the basic speed and confidence that gives you... Clement had run a 46.19

:41:48.:41:55.

in Thursday so we knew he was not in that sort of shape, but my goodness

:41:56.:41:59.

me, you really challenge the 300, ran out of steam and studied into

:42:00.:42:02.

that penultimate hurdle and really suffered. Third fastest in the world

:42:03.:42:06.

this year. Look how much it meant to him. Shara Proctor really trying to

:42:07.:42:13.

get things going and so far really disappointing. 6.35 in the second

:42:14.:42:18.

round is best so far. She really needs to get things moving here,

:42:19.:42:22.

Shara Proctor. Competing for Great Britain in the triple jump of the

:42:23.:42:26.

European team Championships. That is better! That is much better! Got her

:42:27.:42:34.

gloves on. We have seen it all tonight, haven't we? But that is

:42:35.:42:37.

much better by Shara Proctor. Still no great jumping from any of them,

:42:38.:42:44.

to be there. Still in the 6.50 range. Good on the board. That might

:42:45.:42:48.

change things for her. She was languishing in seventh or eighth, in

:42:49.:42:53.

fact she was in it. So in the high jump ship, another attempt for

:42:54.:42:59.

Barshim. And he needs this because the previous jump was not good, it

:43:00.:43:05.

really wasn't. He has won the competition, and it has cooled down

:43:06.:43:08.

quite a lot, blustery now. Let's see whether we can get this 2.3 five. He

:43:09.:43:11.

has it! Brilliant! We know. Fabulous stuff, third and

:43:12.:43:30.

final attempt at 2.30 five. The record for the high jump is two

:43:31.:43:40.

point 37. That was set in 1989. That is the meeting record. The long jump

:43:41.:44:02.

now. In the final stages. I wonder whether Bartoletta can get back the

:44:03.:44:11.

lead. I think that she has. Klishina was leading but I think that has

:44:12.:44:14.

turned it over. That is that, Bartoletta goes to the top and

:44:15.:44:16.

Klishina in second place. Now this will be a meeting record

:44:17.:44:35.

for Barshim. Here he goes. That was close! And he knows it. Bianca

:44:36.:44:44.

Williams of Great Britain in this 200 metres. Representing Great

:44:45.:44:48.

Britain. Simone Facey of Jamaica.

:44:49.:45:10.

Lalova-Collio has been around a long time. And Dafne Schippers, the world

:45:11.:45:16.

champion at 200 metres in 2015. Has had a few hiccups this year. Fourth

:45:17.:45:27.

place in Eugene. That was a superb run.

:45:28.:45:38.

And Murielle Ahoure in good form. A personal best three seasons ago. But

:45:39.:45:51.

she is good. And that is Dafne Schippers out of

:45:52.:46:01.

the race. I cannot believe it. It is her birthday. I was just wondering

:46:02.:46:06.

if they would sing happy birthday to her when she wins it. Not just a

:46:07.:46:11.

false start, that is a big false start. How are they going to get

:46:12.:46:17.

round this? Unless they come up with some green card issue. It was so

:46:18.:46:24.

blatant, it was unbelievable. Trying to suggest that someone in the crowd

:46:25.:46:30.

said something or there was some noise. All the athletes are in the

:46:31.:46:37.

same place. You still have to stay in your blogs. I think she's going

:46:38.:46:44.

to get away with it, I cannot believe that. Really! I'm just going

:46:45.:46:55.

to say this, we all want to see the big stars but the rules are the

:46:56.:46:58.

rules above that was a false start, end of it. She should not be here.

:46:59.:47:04.

Nothing against Dafne Schippers, I know that she's the star of the

:47:05.:47:13.

show, but that was a false start. Away this time. Putting real

:47:14.:47:23.

pressure on her, Murielle Ahoure. Dafne Schippers is leading. Murielle

:47:24.:47:30.

Ahoure in second place. Simone Facey coming into third place with Dafne

:47:31.:47:37.

Schippers. Dafne Schippers get fit. Well I have to say, really when you

:47:38.:47:44.

look at what happened, she is a lucky young woman. And in the

:47:45.:47:48.

championship that would just not have happened. Let's just say it is

:47:49.:47:55.

her birthday. Maybe they decided to give her a present. Not invoking

:47:56.:48:02.

that false start as it should have been. It was plain. She complained.

:48:03.:48:09.

She is the big star and she was listened to. She might have rewarded

:48:10.:48:14.

them by running a bit quicker! For me if she's just not flowing very

:48:15.:48:20.

well, perhaps still in early trading, early in the season. Still

:48:21.:48:25.

quite cool as well. By her standards that is average. And of course Dafne

:48:26.:48:29.

Schippers and Murielle Ahoure out in front and it was Simone Facey in

:48:30.:48:37.

third place. The transition was quite good for Murielle Ahoure. But

:48:38.:48:40.

Dafne Schippers has got away with it. Got out of jail free.

:48:41.:48:51.

I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model size. When I start to

:48:52.:48:54.

tell them people think I'm telling lies. But I say I am a woman.

:48:55.:49:06.

Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman. It ought to make

:49:07.:49:12.

you proud. We had a very good first attempt and

:49:13.:49:26.

here is Barshim with another meeting record. Just clips it with the arm.

:49:27.:49:39.

But it stays on. He might have to go at 240. He has got the record now.

:49:40.:49:48.

And it is now getting cooler. Now this is someone who had a personal

:49:49.:49:58.

best earlier. She has saved her best to last, the German. That looks to

:49:59.:50:05.

be better. Right on the board. Into third place, Claudia Rath. Can

:50:06.:50:33.

Klishina change it all? That looks quite useful. It looks very close.

:50:34.:50:45.

Around about 6.70. Almost a complete hanging. That is a season 's best.

:50:46.:50:59.

But winning it by a narrow margin is Bartoletta. That is a big throw from

:51:00.:51:10.

Stahl. That will challenge his record. His body language was good,

:51:11.:51:17.

he liked that. That is very close. Suddenly close to 68 metres I would

:51:18.:51:24.

have thought. That will be close to 68.

:51:25.:51:33.

Topping the world rankings in the 1500 metres is Mangoi. But look out

:51:34.:51:47.

for Charlie Grice and Jake Wightman of Great Britain who will be

:51:48.:51:49.

battling for dominance in a fortnight. Moving on to the far side

:51:50.:51:58.

of the track, the men's 1500 metres. Some injury problems last year.

:51:59.:52:12.

Gregson the first Australian to make the final four 40 years. Jake

:52:13.:52:16.

Wightman of Great Britain having his best season so far. And Charlie

:52:17.:52:22.

Grice hoping to have a good performance. And Marcin Lewandowski

:52:23.:52:34.

on the left-hand side. This has been billed as a quick race. We cannot

:52:35.:52:38.

really bill it as a record attempt. Setting the pace are Kiptoo and

:52:39.:53:00.

Rotich. In second place is Souleiman, having

:53:01.:53:18.

a bit of a shopping season. Let's watched the first four metres.

:53:19.:53:26.

Looking pretty good. Looking to hit something like 56 seconds through

:53:27.:53:33.

the first 400 metres. And it is going that way as well. Souleiman of

:53:34.:53:38.

course have had indifferent form recently. And we must not forget

:53:39.:54:03.

Iguider in that leading group. You can expect some fast times if you

:54:04.:54:17.

look at the likes of Kiplagat. Moving up a little bit closer is

:54:18.:54:30.

Kiplagat. Souleiman letting adapt develop. They have kicked on to 153.

:54:31.:54:45.

Some big gaps in the pack now. Ingebrigsten looking very good.

:54:46.:54:52.

Ingebrigsten has latched on and the gap is opening up between that

:54:53.:54:55.

leading group now. The pacemaking has not been very helpful. They had

:54:56.:54:59.

not gone with it and it is all down to Souleiman. The rest of just sat

:55:00.:55:10.

in behind him. In third place is Manangoi. Jake Wightman starting to

:55:11.:55:20.

move closer as is Charlie Grice. It isn't Souleiman leading. Jake

:55:21.:55:28.

Wightman making a big move on the outside in the yellow shorts.

:55:29.:55:34.

Souleiman really not pushing on. All queueing up behind. 300 metres to go

:55:35.:55:39.

and the crowd getting excited. Ingebrigsten looking comfortable.

:55:40.:55:45.

And look at Marston Lewandowski. Now Manangoi get against the gap. But

:55:46.:55:51.

look at Jake Wightman chasing Manangoi. Manangoi with Jake

:55:52.:55:55.

Wightman on his shoulder. Look at this! The Brit kicking for home.

:55:56.:56:04.

Manangoi may not have anything. Jake Wightman kicking hard on the home

:56:05.:56:07.

straight. Manangoi coming back at him. Jake Wightman, this would be

:56:08.:56:12.

the biggest win of his career. He has got to get there. And he wins

:56:13.:56:23.

it! Second is Manangoi. Marcin Lewandowski third and then a big gap

:56:24.:56:27.

to the rest of the field. I spoke to Jake earlier and this is what he was

:56:28.:56:31.

looking for in terms of his times. He has been running well, that is a

:56:32.:56:36.

personal best. Did he really think that he would win in the track that

:56:37.:56:42.

all middle distance runners dream of winning at? A winner in Oslo,

:56:43.:56:48.

congratulations from his team-mate Charlie Grice. Jake having a

:56:49.:56:54.

cracking year. Personal best in 800 metres and now a personal best in

:56:55.:56:58.

the 1500 metres. He will be much more delighted with the fact that he

:56:59.:57:07.

is the winner, beating Manangoi and Ingebrigsten. Look how strong he

:57:08.:57:12.

was. He timed it right. Smart through the first 800, moved up

:57:13.:57:17.

nicely and then got himself out following Manangoi and strong in the

:57:18.:57:21.

home straight. Well done to Jake Wightman, his dad will be delighted.

:57:22.:57:26.

There's so history here, it has been a dream all this time, and going

:57:27.:57:33.

into the Champs in the trials. A great atmosphere always here. And

:57:34.:57:39.

the track is quick. I was hoping to earn a PB. I was just kicking on and

:57:40.:57:49.

just about held onto it. Stay with us next for the rugby league

:57:50.:57:53.

Challenge Cup, Warrington against Wigan. The Diamond League is back

:57:54.:57:57.

tomorrow night for the second half of the Scandinavian double-header

:57:58.:58:00.

and we bring you highlights from Stockholm at five past midnight. It

:58:01.:58:04.

is repeated on Monday at lunchtime if you cannot step that late. And

athletics. When

:58:19.:58:31.

many the cues including Dafne Schippers it was left to Jake

:58:32.:58:34.

Wightman to take centre stage tonight in this most famous public

:58:35.:58:37.

theatres, he joined the long list of British miners who have tasted

:58:38.:58:39.

victory at this game. Sebastian Coe was watching on and would have been

:58:40.:58:42.

impressed with that new personal best for the 22-year-old. Adam

:58:43.:58:44.

Gemili looking a little bit sharper, and we have the comedy moment of the

:58:45.:58:46.

year but Jake Wightman really produced that hair raising

:58:47.:58:51.

performance. That is all from Oslo and the Diamond League but we're

:58:52.:58:54.

back tomorrow night with more action from Stockholm. Until then, goodbye.
