Welcome to porters, a little later than Scheduled. We're not the semi-

:00:42.:00:46.

finals of the World Indoor Bowls Championships. This afternoon we

:00:46.:00:56.
:00:56.:00:58.

have a blockbuster in store for all World bowls old guard are rolling

:00:58.:01:02.

back the years. John Price still has a fire and the belly, despite

:01:02.:01:08.

the fact he was world champion two decades ago. It is a long time ago,

:01:09.:01:15.

1990. I was really pleased, I had a few big Mrs in tournaments. I was a

:01:15.:01:20.

nearly man, but I finally needed, and it was a great moment. -- I had

:01:20.:01:26.

a few big Mrs. David Gourlay has had a stellar career, but like him

:01:26.:01:31.

has always struck once at the World Championships, and that is when he

:01:31.:01:39.

was a fresh-faced newcomer. 1996 was the one and only time I won the

:01:39.:01:43.

world title. I entered the competition as a rank outsider. I

:01:43.:01:47.

was a wild card entry, was not expected to do well, but I went on

:01:47.:01:53.

to win the tournament, it was the most amazing experience of my life.

:01:53.:01:58.

Scotland's bowls coach has already claimed one half of the mixed pairs

:01:58.:02:04.

title this week. John prices also enjoying a resurgence. He stopped

:02:04.:02:10.

the clock against Ross Owen in the first round. It seems as if these

:02:10.:02:13.

two have known each other since time began. I have known him,

:02:13.:02:17.

played a couple of big games, and I managed to get over the line

:02:17.:02:20.

against him a couple of years ago in Scotland. I think it will be a

:02:20.:02:25.

good game, I have to play my best game but I have a good chance.

:02:25.:02:29.

Price and I have played a couple of times over the years. He is a tough

:02:29.:02:33.

competitor. He is deaf -- very difficult to beat so I am expecting

:02:33.:02:39.

a tough game. Which of these time travellers can turn back the clock

:02:39.:02:42.

travellers can turn back the clock and journey to the semi-finals?

:02:42.:02:52.
:02:52.:02:56.

Here is the line-up for the quarter It is John Price and David Gourlay

:02:56.:03:00.

for us this afternoon, and the match is already under way. We are

:03:00.:03:04.

in the 9th of the first set, and David Gourlay has the advantage.

:03:04.:03:14.
:03:14.:03:28.

Greg Harlow and David Corkill are wide of the target, and John Price

:03:28.:03:38.
:03:38.:03:47.

sitting down and saying, I have had Price, sitting down on the brink. -

:03:47.:03:54.

- on the rink. To be fair, John has been dead unlucky with his last

:03:54.:04:02.

bowl. David has a reasonable target. Still, a lot of pressure. David

:04:02.:04:07.

Gourlay missed the drive with his third bowl. Most unlike him, he is

:04:07.:04:17.
:04:17.:04:22.

normally very reliable. A lot of David Gourlay, he will reset

:04:22.:04:32.
:04:32.:04:43.

That is a marvellous result for David Gourlay, are really good

:04:43.:04:50.

strike on his reliable forehand. He will take a double load of that. --

:04:50.:05:00.
:05:00.:05:21.

a "of that. -- double out of that. unlucky to have opened ahead. 8-3

:05:21.:05:31.
:05:31.:05:36.

does not really reflect matt said. after that first set, very

:05:36.:05:43.

interesting bowling, no doubt about it. David Gourlay was edging it all

:05:43.:05:51.

the way through to the last end. John Price played his best end of

:05:51.:06:01.
:06:01.:06:39.

this match so far. Four actual -- very long time, John Price. David

:06:39.:06:47.

Gourlay not far behind him. 45, again has been at the top level for

:06:47.:06:57.
:06:57.:07:11.

won his world title in 1990. It was just a matter of time, we knew it

:07:11.:07:21.
:07:21.:07:25.

would happen. We just do not quite tournaments and that stages one of

:07:25.:07:35.
:07:35.:07:52.

1 outsider. A very tough first- round match, he came through when

:07:52.:08:02.
:08:02.:08:08.

think a few people had a couple of shekels on him at 100-1, but no one

:08:08.:08:13.

expected him to win it, Greg. It is very difficult in your first

:08:13.:08:16.

tournament to call the way through and win. It has not been done many

:08:16.:08:26.
:08:26.:08:47.

relatively easy to draw the short. -- draw the shot. Always easier

:08:47.:08:57.
:08:57.:09:20.

it would have helped their. Criminal. Any touch on the jack was

:09:20.:09:30.
:09:30.:09:39.

for a touch for three, misses the touch and slips through the gap and

:09:39.:09:49.
:09:49.:10:17.

it does not even count. The line is All about pace. I tell you, it

:10:17.:10:27.
:10:27.:10:32.

needed to sit. Then the reaction along with his daughter are season-

:10:32.:10:42.

ticket holders for Swansea City. They are doing very well. Great

:10:42.:10:48.

football fans. His daughter has always enjoyed going to the

leaving an inch for John to try and opportunity for David known. -- for

:13:34.:13:42.

John is looking at the angles in case he wants to hit this. It looks

:13:42.:13:49.

to be sitting next, doesn't it? does, if you get it right, it all

:13:49.:13:53.

depends on the ankles. He is coming down for another look. Will he

:13:53.:14:01.

aimed for his own? Yes, I think he will aim for his middle read. --

unlucky. Very unlucky, he hit the target area. You will be further

:14:45.:14:54.

away on occasions and get better results than that. I do think it

:14:54.:14:59.

was probably a forehand runner, but I know he prefers the backhand,

:14:59.:15:03.

that is probably why he chose the backhand. He hit the target well

:15:03.:15:13.
:15:13.:15:13.

shots in this. Four shots to David Gourlay. He has been punished

well on this event so far. He is a happy boy, the way he has been

playing. We will see him later again today against Jason

for 10 consecutive ends, then won the tie-break 2-0. It is a strange

:19:14.:19:19.

game, Greg. I had a chat with Darren, he said that last night. He

:19:19.:19:23.

is still having massive problems with his tooth. He said every time

:19:24.:19:29.

he bent forward massive pains. He just wanted to get rid of the bowl.

:23:00.:23:10.
:23:10.:23:10.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 145 seconds

:23:10.:23:54.

there are only three players and the jack was good. He has have

:23:54.:24:01.

covered the backhand shot for John Price. -- almost covered. He can

:24:01.:24:06.

still make it back, but not as easily. He may be forced on to the

forehand. Price gives a shake of John will be looking at all the

:25:10.:25:16.

angles to see if there is any murdered in attacking this. He has

:25:16.:25:20.

two bowls on the jack, but there does not seen anything set up to

:25:20.:25:25.

get the Jack going in that direction. It is not ideal, but it

:25:25.:25:31.

-- if it is only one shot, he might be tempted to aim for the green

:25:31.:25:41.
:25:41.:25:41.

bowl. Yes, he might be able to hit the bowl away. Also, if he is a

:25:42.:25:45.

little wide he might be on his own bowl, he might get off the screen

:25:45.:25:52.

one, and come across. It is not ideal, it is not perfect. The ankle

:25:52.:25:57.

is still bringing him on to the jack. He has to be tempted. I think

:25:57.:26:03.

so. It -- even if he gets the green bowl solid, he will not be much

:26:03.:26:12.

worse. It is a tough call. Parents know clear cut shot available.

:26:12.:26:22.
:26:22.:26:40.

think he has been pretty good with in the corner, unfortunately for

:26:40.:26:50.
:26:50.:26:51.

him about three metres away. Not a toucher, both of those ended up in

:26:51.:26:58.

the ditch and were taken away. The jack is just in front of David

:26:58.:27:06.

Gourlay, as he stepped away. It is just inside the peg on the back.

:27:07.:27:11.

David is asking how many second bowls he has. He is thinking of

:27:11.:27:21.

driving the shot out. At 4-2 up, I thought you would just go down and

:27:21.:27:29.

draw the shot. I am very surprised at that. If he has three a seconds,

:27:29.:27:37.

he could take the bowl out. Really, that is a draw for one for me. I

:27:37.:27:47.

think he is shaping up for it. He is psyching himself up for it. I

:27:47.:27:57.
:27:57.:27:59.

think his team manager would suggest his player draws the shot.

:27:59.:28:09.
:28:09.:28:21.

It is such an easy draw. Don't look comes. That's the right play.

:28:21.:28:31.
:28:31.:28:33.

Straight forward single. And that's the right shot. He's so attacked

:28:33.:28:38.

minded and he did fancy taking it out for three, but he knew if he

:28:38.:28:48.
:28:48.:29:26.

missed he was gifting John a one think he can let this set drift any

:29:26.:29:36.
:29:36.:30:00.

fantastic! A wonderful reply. Just remaineding David four lay that he

:30:01.:30:10.
:30:11.:30:20.

is capable of causing him trouble. as his first and he will win the

:30:20.:30:30.
:30:30.:30:44.

an edge? Just under. Just a few inches away, but a good bowl.

:30:44.:30:48.

had a smile on his face there, he knew he was just a couple of inches

:30:48.:30:57.

short. But he knows he's got great position. Any ideas John? He has no

:30:57.:31:07.
:31:07.:31:07.

position at all. Possibly forehand and try and drop the foot past and

:31:07.:31:15.

get a position in. Very difficult for John this. Swapped to the

:31:16.:31:25.
:31:26.:31:38.

is decent. That's not too bad. good. Perhaps gone a bit too much.

:31:38.:31:43.

I'm a bit surprised he was looking at this in the forehand, but it

:31:43.:31:50.

will work either side. If he wants to be tidy it is a backhand draw

:31:50.:31:57.

just to Nurdle it through. He was looking at the forehand drive.

:31:57.:32:07.
:32:07.:32:19.

Looks like he is shaping up the red bowl away. Well he's still

:32:19.:32:27.

watching. A bit tentative for weight. I'm surprised at that.

:32:27.:32:32.

Thought he would have had another yard or two or that. John lays the

:32:32.:32:38.

shot, but it has nowhere to go. Can't afford to draw in himself,

:32:38.:32:48.
:32:48.:33:02.

because any touch would give it time. John, what are you doing? Yes,

:33:02.:33:07.

he wanted a bit less than his second delivery and it is a bit of

:33:07.:33:16.

a wasted bowl for David Gourlay, he is good at these turn over shots.

:33:16.:33:26.
:33:26.:33:27.

He has so many options, he is struggling to pick which one. He is

:33:27.:33:32.

going for the forehand again. Probably the same line as the last

:33:32.:33:42.
:33:42.:33:52.

interested in this. Too solid a connection. Not sure if John will

:33:52.:33:57.

even bother with his last bowl. There is probably just room on the

:33:57.:34:05.

forehand. David said, do you want your bowl? He said yes. That is why,

:34:05.:34:11.

sometimes you have to walk away and say that is fair enough. I will

:34:11.:34:15.

take the single. There is Robert Weale watching. Before the match we

:34:15.:34:22.

had three players putting their stickers on, Jason Greenslade,

:34:22.:34:28.

Robert Weale and John Price. Those three have dominated Welsh bowls

:34:28.:34:35.

for 25 years. Young players coming through of course, but it has been

:34:35.:34:45.

the three of them. Slightly before that, well about that time as well

:34:45.:34:52.

was Steve Rees, who is John Price's old partner in the pairs. But

:34:52.:34:58.

Wealey will be happy. He is doing well. Another warm looking jacket.

:34:58.:35:07.

He has got the glasses on now. Looking very academic there.

:35:07.:35:14.

will not enjoy that. Checking the racing results! The old Silver Fox!

:35:14.:35:19.

Doesn't like to be seen with the glasses on, does he? Another bit of

:35:20.:35:29.

an opportunity to wind him up. The fourth person of the great Webb

:35:29.:35:34.

players over the last two or -- Welsh players over the last two or

:35:34.:35:44.
:35:44.:35:44.

bowl. That would put the pressure finding dead pace. Any weight on

:36:55.:37:05.
:37:05.:37:14.

will drift past. Is he going to drop in? David's taking a moment.

:37:14.:37:21.

He will be happy with the answer. One to green. And he knows if he

:37:21.:37:28.

can just drop round his own bowl, certainly he will be in charge of

:37:28.:37:38.
:37:38.:37:44.

made the gap. Oh! Well when you make a gap like that, you sort of

:37:44.:37:52.

think to yourself, just maybe, maybe this might be my day. A big

:37:52.:38:01.

moment in the match now. 5-3 down on the score board, two down on the

:38:01.:38:06.

end. He's looking at the runner again. There are some good

:38:06.:38:11.

connections this time. I can't glaim blame him. I think he thought

:38:11.:38:20.

he was close with the previous bowl. John's got all the position behind.

:38:20.:38:24.

Looking to run into the two greens and get a touch on to the jack.

:38:24.:38:34.
:38:34.:38:54.

going to get the result? Oh that was unlucky. He has pushed his own

:38:54.:39:00.

bowls out of the head. That's made it worse. Still two green, but it's

:39:00.:39:10.
:39:10.:39:23.

left David Gourlay a chance. treble. That is what you do when

:39:23.:39:29.

you put the pressure on - force opponents into making errors. David

:39:29.:39:37.

Gourlay's extremely good at that. Yes, that is No 3. That is the

:39:37.:39:47.
:39:47.:40:07.

and co-ordinator for Bowls Scotland, following a bit of a disas aer the

:40:07.:40:11.

they had at Delhi in the common wealth games, where their team

:40:11.:40:16.

didn't do well. -- disaster. He has been appointed not only to help

:40:16.:40:23.

with a variety of coaching and mentoring roles, but to bring that

:40:24.:40:29.

element of credibility to the post and to the role. The confidence of

:40:29.:40:33.

knowing the players and their strengths and weaknesses and of

:40:33.:40:39.

course their all know David, which helps. -- they all know David,

:40:39.:40:45.

which helps. I expect them to do well in Glasgow at the next

:40:45.:40:48.

Commonwealth Games. John Price himself has a development role

:40:48.:40:58.
:40:58.:41:02.

within Wales, a part-time role to qualified people for those

:41:02.:41:12.
:41:12.:41:12.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 145 seconds

:41:12.:42:13.

David. The road is fantastic. The weight looks pretty good. That's

:42:13.:42:20.

the winner. Yes that's a good one too. Couldn't have played that any

:42:21.:42:28.

better. Hid the jack, hid his bowl. John price in heaps of problems

:42:28.:42:34.

here now. He's so good at the recovery shot, David Gourlay. Plays

:42:34.:42:39.

the game really well. Good attacking bowler. His forehand in

:42:39.:42:47.

particular. I can only see one shot available for John, that is the

:42:47.:42:57.
:42:57.:43:22.

forehand draw and try and move the Just over. Can't blame him wanting

:43:22.:43:28.

to reach of course. Fpblt great try. Now David Gourlay can add another

:43:28.:43:38.
:43:38.:44:13.

on to the bottom red second shot straightened them up and possibly

:44:13.:44:16.

closed down the forehand and once again another bowl is in the way

:44:16.:44:20.

for John Price. He is looking at the forehand strike, which is a

:44:20.:44:28.

single bowl of his into the two green. The thing is now John price,

:44:28.:44:33.

strike the open red bowl, take the two reds away for one. Can I not

:44:33.:44:37.

see how he can get any more than one out of this end. But he must

:44:38.:44:47.
:44:48.:44:49.

score this end to stand any chance. Got the deepest bowl as well. He

:44:49.:44:54.

needs a good strike and a good bit of fortune. This is a tough one I

:44:54.:45:04.
:45:04.:45:11.

It wasn't too far away, but David Gourlay still scores a single. Took

:45:12.:45:18.

one away. It is a difficult challenge now for John Price, 9-3

:45:18.:45:23.

behind with two ends to go. David Gourlay has been very consistent in

:45:23.:45:29.

this second set. He's kept the pressure on John Price. To be

:45:29.:45:33.

honest if you would wave the white flag, John would be waving it.

:45:33.:45:38.

There is a few hits that haven't gone right, but that is inevitable

:45:38.:45:47.

when you're chasing the game. You sort of feel that it is sometimes

:45:47.:45:57.
:45:57.:46:33.

John won't give up. It is still on Johnny, you have to go out

:46:33.:46:38.

fighting. A little shake of the head. But I have a lot of

:46:38.:46:45.

admiration for David Gourlay for the way he goes about his business.

:46:45.:46:55.
:46:55.:47:04.

A very tough competitor, a thinker at this and move the jack back. He

:47:04.:47:14.
:47:14.:47:21.

is not going to score a three where have liked. That was played with a

:47:21.:47:27.

view to keeping the bowl on the rink. Wouldn't afford to risk the

:47:27.:47:37.
:47:37.:47:54.

bowl in the rink. David will just still available to John Price if he

:47:54.:47:59.

can make the gap between the two green balls. Yes that is all he has

:47:59.:48:09.
:48:09.:48:11.

position, David would do well to match those two. He will split the

:48:11.:48:21.
:48:21.:48:28.

back two and then John will have no soon as he splits them, it is all

:48:28.:48:35.

over. That is just about it. John Price has to manufacture a three

:48:35.:48:43.

out of this head. It is absolutely inch perfect, he could just get to

:48:43.:48:53.

get into the others. Well David Gourlay, no doubt deserved that win.

:48:58.:49:04.

He was just too strong on the day for John Price from Wales. The 45-

:49:04.:49:10.

year-old from Glasgow was very consistent. Took the first set 8-3,

:49:10.:49:13.

takes the second set very comfortably and it was one of those

:49:13.:49:17.

things for John Price, he happened to meet David Gourlay when he was

:49:17.:49:24.

playing some of his best stuff. Interesting game. Good to see

:49:24.:49:34.
:49:34.:49:46.

:49:56.:50:03.

there's the jack bouncing out and that saves the first set. Gets the

:50:03.:50:11.

double. And David Gourlay's got an opportunity for the big count on

:50:11.:50:18.

the second end. Here it comes. All the way down. For four shots.

:50:18.:50:28.
:50:28.:50:37.

David gourlly was too consistent for John on the day. RISHI PERSAD:

:50:37.:50:42.

John, looking at those stats, they told the story, you only won a

:50:42.:50:47.

third of the ends that is because your opponent was on fire? Yes I

:50:47.:50:51.

thought David played better. I couldn't get in at the start and I

:50:51.:50:56.

couldn't get my first bowl. But he always had the edge. You must be

:50:56.:50:59.

pleased with what you have done this week? Yes my form has been

:50:59.:51:05.

good. I'm disappointed, but it is something to work on. Always

:51:05.:51:09.

looking ahead. David, back in the semi final here? How does that feel

:51:09.:51:14.

It is amazing. It has been a long time. I knew it was going to be a

:51:14.:51:19.

tough game. Maybe we didn't play as well as we could. But just happy to

:51:19.:51:22.

get through. I think you have come into this tournament saying you

:51:22.:51:26.

perhaps didn't have the ideal pripration. But your practice here

:51:26.:51:31.

has been getting better. -- preparation. Do you think you're

:51:31.:51:36.

playing better every round. Every game you play helps you. I have

:51:36.:51:41.

been here two weeks and been on almost every day. Having won the

:51:41.:51:47.

tournament now a long time ago, what chances of this long weight

:51:47.:51:53.

for another ending? I'm taking as they say, each game at a time. The

:51:53.:51:59.

guys who are left in, they're top class bowlers. So it will be

:51:59.:52:02.

difficult. Well done. Commiserations to John Price. Hs

out, but David is through to the semi final. We have the next

:52:06.:52:13.

quarter final coming up on the red button at 10 past 3 this afternoon

:52:13.:52:16.

between Wayne hog and Jason Greenslade. But we have time for

:52:16.:52:20.

the first quarter final that took place earlier today. That was

:52:20.:52:26.

between the former champion Andy Thomson and the man who beat Greg

:52:26.:52:31.

Harlow and that was nbgy Brett. We pick this up after they shared the

:52:31.:52:40.

first two set and it goes to a tie- break. With commentators, John

:52:45.:52:52.

He has played a few better bowls, but Nicky Brett has gone off his

moved on to the forehand. He was disappointed with the first one,

:54:18.:54:28.
:54:28.:54:58.

a matter of staying to the jack. Has he got enough pace to just hold

:54:58.:55:07.

on to it? Oh yes, he has indeed. That's the single he needs. That

:55:07.:55:12.

was a good adjustment, that's not easy to do. Weight and line on that

:55:12.:55:22.
:55:22.:55:46.

sure if he has pushed it, though. I don't think it is going to make it.

It is dipping under. It has gone. blowing of the cheeks, he knows

:57:05.:57:14.

that is not good enough. It has been a scratchy game. I actually

:57:14.:57:19.

felt Nicky played very well in the first set, he dominated. The second

:57:20.:57:24.

set has been scratchy, as you say. It has brought Andy back into the

:57:24.:57:31.

game. The tie-breaks so far have been scratchy, as well, to be

:57:31.:57:39.

honest. Nicky had full command of the first set up to the sixth end,

:57:39.:57:46.

playing great bowls, then had a total walkabout and lost a four.

quite be enough to win the end. In could not possibly have thought he

:58:58.:59:06.

was going to come out like that. Of his own bowl, of the red, off to

:59:06.:59:13.

the jack. That is an unbelievable result. Fair play, he hit the

:59:13.:59:19.

target, he was catching the edge of the short bowl, but then the rest.

:59:19.:59:29.

And it is a toucher. I expected to be close with this one. Running the

:59:29.:59:35.

bowl at the jack. He has got it perfect. The reaction was very

:59:35.:59:43.

positive, as well. That will be the end of that particular game. There

:59:43.:59:51.

is a live bowl on the green, and I think he has forgotten that. He has

:59:51.:59:58.

conceded a shot forgetting he had a live bowl on the green. Having said

:59:58.:00:04.

that, it was a very, very slim chance. He has just seen an deeply

:00:24.:00:29.

his experience and played a perfect running bowl. 1-1. Jack length, 29

Babak toucher, somewhat more difficult. Things change and the

:02:03.:02:08.

rules on a tie-break, you cannot kill the end. Yes, but I don't

:02:08.:02:17.

think he has dominated. That is good, but did he nominate the

killed? I don't think he did. Price just keeping an eye on things

before his quarter-final game. The jack has gone on to the re- spot

position. Bowls players, two bowls, Thomson, it really is. 12 inch gap.

:03:38.:03:48.
:03:48.:04:10.

It is beatable. Nicky is thinking for second. It looks second on the

:04:10.:04:15.

screen, David. We cannot see from here, we're blinded in the corner,

:04:15.:04:22.

we cannot see, but it looks second on the screen. He needed a

:04:22.:04:26.

direction on the bowl or the jack to stop them. I think he thought he

:04:26.:04:32.

was getting the corner of the jack. One bowl to save this match. Andy

Thomson will almost certainly try to put another one in so the ball

alongside to give Nicky the target of the two bowls. We don't ask for

:04:59.:05:20.

Get that is not second bowl, Nick Brett will have the chance to drive

:05:20.:05:30.

BBC Two, and that is coming up tomorrow afternoon. We look forward

:06:51.:06:56.

to seeing how those unfold, and that starts at 2:30pm on BBC Two.

:06:56.:07:01.

It has been an up-and-down week for former champions, we lost five by

:07:01.:07:05.

the time the second round was completed. Three still remain, one

:07:05.:07:15.
:07:15.:07:16.

World No. 7 Robert Weale might be a dark horse for the tournament. He

:07:16.:07:21.

certainly has the pedigree to get past the winning post. So far, he

:07:21.:07:25.

has already made the pairs final with Jason Greenslade, but they

:07:25.:07:30.

were beaten in the final furlong by Scottish thoroughbreds Alex

:07:30.:07:35.

Marshall and Paul Foster. Robert Weale saw off Simon Skelton for the

:07:35.:07:42.

second year running. He is now into the semi-finals. I live in Hereford

:07:42.:07:47.

at the moment, due to work, but I play all my bowls in Wales. I

:07:47.:07:55.

travel back to Wales, that is my home. My passions outside of bowls

:07:55.:07:59.

would be football, I am a massive Wolverhampton supporters. I get up

:07:59.:08:04.

there when I can, when the bowls does not get in the way. I love

:08:04.:08:12.

watching the team. And would like to have a little flutter on the

:08:12.:08:17.

horses, as well. I go to the races when we have local meetings, I

:08:17.:08:22.

travel around a little, I watched other meetings when I can come at

:08:22.:08:25.

Chepstow and the Welsh National. I was lucky enough to pick the winner

:08:26.:08:33.

this year. Bowls is massive to me. I first got into the game because

:08:33.:08:38.

my father started playing. I actually started playing the same

:08:38.:08:44.

night as my father did, and it has rolled on from there. I have had

:08:44.:08:48.

good success. It is a massive part good success. It is a massive part

:08:48.:08:58.

of my life, without it I don't know My main achievements in the game

:08:58.:09:05.

would beat the world indoor singles championship. That was 2,000,

:09:05.:09:11.

definitely the pinnacle. Outdoors, I have probably had more success,

:09:11.:09:18.

at the Commonwealth Games I picked up a couple of gold medals. That is

:09:18.:09:23.

really important to me. It is important my family play bowls, as

:09:23.:09:30.

well. My brother has been fortunate enough to win 7 National fours with

:09:30.:09:37.

the boys in Wales. The man standing in his way is Darren Burnett. Last

:09:37.:09:41.

night he put out the Scottish Open champion, Robert Paxton. Robert

:09:41.:09:46.

Weale is in fine form himself and will be confident he can pick his

:09:46.:09:50.

spot in the semi-finals. ambition would be to go as far as I

:09:50.:09:55.

can. I goal in every year thinking I can go all the way. This year is

:09:55.:10:00.

no different. Touch wood, I can play my best bowls, put people

:10:00.:10:10.
:10:10.:10:11.

And you can see how Robert Weale get on against Darren Burnett in

extremely important when it comes to the pressure moments. Yes,

:10:48.:10:51.

especially when you think of people like Andy Thomson coming through.

:10:51.:10:56.

He was great today, but he was gritty. Robert Weale, a dark horse,

:10:56.:11:03.

maybe. Andy Thomson really got over the line when he maybe shouldn't

:11:03.:11:08.

have. Robert Weale is always a hard competitor. David Gourlay was

:11:08.:11:13.

playing very well and consistently and knocked out John Price and a

:11:13.:11:16.

consistent and did away in terms of the quality of play. David, thank

you for your time. Another wonderful day of action here at
