to Glasgow and the 20th Commonwealth Games. Terrific men's all-around

:00:32.:00:33.

final happening across the River Clyde at the Hydro, live to that in

:00:34.:00:37.

just a moment, but let me take you around Glasgow to show you what is

:00:38.:00:38.

happening right now, around Glasgow to show you what is

:00:39.:00:41.

available on BBC Three we are reaching the climax of the boxing,

:00:42.:00:46.

some terrific fights today over at the SECC. Also on the red button,

:00:47.:00:51.

you can enjoy coverage of Scotland taking on South Africa in the lawn

:00:52.:00:55.

bowls, that is happening at Kelvingrove. All the action on our

:00:56.:00:59.

website, and a big night air that Hampden Park, the final of the men's

:01:00.:01:04.

400m, the women set that long, Greg Rutherford in the long jump final,

:01:05.:01:10.

that is around 6:45. You can watch live on the website, that works on

:01:11.:01:17.

all devices via the BBC Sport app, and if you have missed anything you

:01:18.:01:19.

can catch up on the iPlayer. The headlines: Sarah Barrow and

:01:20.:01:31.

Tonia Couch send the fans into raptures, winning silver for England

:01:32.:01:36.

in the first diving final of the Commonwealth Games. Scotland's

:01:37.:01:44.

Lynsey Sharp and Jenny Meadows coast clear of the rest of the field in

:01:45.:01:52.

the 800 metres heat. He was the defending champion, but after a

:01:53.:01:57.

terrible season Dai Greene's 400m hurdles dreams turned into dust,

:01:58.:02:01.

finishing fifth in his heat with Rick Yates in third, edging into the

:02:02.:02:10.

final. And England's women made it through to the hockey semifinal,

:02:11.:02:16.

knocking Scotland out 2-1 in the process. The hosts threw everything

:02:17.:02:20.

at the auld enemy but will rue a series of missed opportunities.

:02:21.:02:26.

After the drama of the men's team final yesterday at the Hydro in

:02:27.:02:31.

gymnastics, it is all eyes on England's Max Whitlock in the men's

:02:32.:02:34.

individual all-around. We have been following the action live on BBC

:02:35.:02:38.

Two, Better Together bring you up to date.

:02:39.:02:44.

Another gymnast with his sights set on battle, Nile Wilson. He was key

:02:45.:02:49.

to the team performance yesterday, but this is all about the individual

:02:50.:02:56.

gymnasts today. Lovely, clean, confident start.

:02:57.:03:06.

The is working with such maturity. -- he is. We used to call the pommel

:03:07.:03:15.

horse a great leveller, but for him it is just another piece of

:03:16.:03:21.

apparatus. Double Russian, good, disciplined travel, good placement

:03:22.:03:25.

of the hands. Forwards and backwards. Keeping the swing, well,

:03:26.:03:33.

I will tell you what, such a mature performance. Nile Wilson proving

:03:34.:03:37.

there is no room for error in this all-around final! Really cool

:03:38.:03:43.

customer, Nile Wilson. He is lapping it up, isn't he? It feels like his

:03:44.:03:50.

stage. Well, could it be his year? His first year as a senior! 13

:03:51.:03:55.

scored for Sean O'Hara. We saw Iwan Mepham on pommel horse a

:03:56.:04:11.

little bit earlier on, ninth highest qualifier. He is on rings now. And

:04:12.:04:21.

Iwan just 17 years of age, the youngest competitor in the final,

:04:22.:04:26.

and rings are notoriously difficult until you are a little more mature.

:04:27.:04:31.

Good, strong gymnast, you can see him using every ounce of this

:04:32.:04:37.

strength there. He needs to control the top of the swing, so essential

:04:38.:04:41.

to have a really strong handstand shape, lovely in the swing elements,

:04:42.:04:46.

and that is very good, very good strength old. -- hold. He needs to

:04:47.:04:51.

be disciplined here. Really giving it everything, big

:04:52.:05:02.

swing into the double twisting double back, that was a really good

:05:03.:05:06.

effort on the reins. Iwan Mepham on his way back! -- rings. He had a

:05:07.:05:17.

little stall on his dismount from pommel horse, but things going well

:05:18.:05:24.

for him now. Nile Wilson, 13.833, a little wry smile, he knows he is on

:05:25.:05:31.

target. A lot of difficulty still to come from Nile, and a lot of

:05:32.:05:38.

difficulty from this young man. He feels so vastly experienced on the

:05:39.:05:46.

world stage, but still just 21 years old. The highest qualifier in the

:05:47.:05:50.

pommel horse, here he goes in the all-around final. Handstand, onto

:05:51.:05:55.

one handle, staying there a long time, through the Russians. Again,

:05:56.:06:02.

on the one handle, such a good performer. Very nicely done, picks

:06:03.:06:08.

it up well, he had problems with that in qualifying. That is risky,

:06:09.:06:13.

that spindle in that situation, he did it so well. Hands catching

:06:14.:06:22.

nicely. No-nonsense into the triple Russian. Swinging with such, such

:06:23.:06:31.

confidence, Max Whitlock! Just a reminder, these lads are from the

:06:32.:06:38.

home nations! These days, we have some of the best gymnasts in the

:06:39.:06:44.

world! What a performance! What a hugely difficult routine as well,

:06:45.:06:48.

and his style, he looks so light when he is on the pommel horse. It

:06:49.:06:52.

looks almost effortless, and of course it isn't. Well,

:06:53.:06:59.

looks almost effortless, and of to strength. Iwan Mepham, 13.4

:07:00.:07:03.

sixes, he'll take that. -- 13 .466. Aristotelous of Cyprus, the next

:07:04.:07:24.

gymnast up onto rings. Three more to come from this group.

:07:25.:07:29.

And Cyprus have had some very good ring workers over the years. He just

:07:30.:07:38.

needs to lift the feed a fraction higher, but that was an impressive

:07:39.:07:41.

list straight into a strength element.

:07:42.:07:48.

Very good start. Front somersault. Good piece for him, this.

:07:49.:07:59.

A bit low on the scissor. But he is away now. And now the rings are

:08:00.:08:09.

swinging... Just scraped the top with the Russian. Aristotelous

:08:10.:08:23.

having a better outing on rings. Serious mistake, a pause on the

:08:24.:08:30.

handstand! But he is through, Mitch, he is through. Max Whitlock still

:08:31.:08:37.

well ahead. Enormous pommel horse score, just stretching ahead now of

:08:38.:08:43.

the rest of the field. Multiplied by three and you have got 93 points,

:08:44.:08:48.

which is up with the very best. The very best of Kohei Uchimura. Clinton

:08:49.:08:56.

Purnell, good, solid start for him on floor, looking for consistency

:08:57.:09:04.

here, peace number two. -- peace. Built for rings, not formals, but he

:09:05.:09:09.

will be anxious to go through. Good, steady start. Now he is into the

:09:10.:09:13.

forward travel. Nice, good construction to this

:09:14.:09:24.

routine, keeping the swing, keeping the form, and he kept the rhythm on

:09:25.:09:29.

the dismount. He will be delighted with that. Having a very good

:09:30.:09:35.

Commonwealth Games! He has really made the apparatus that he is not

:09:36.:09:40.

quite so suited to be good, and if you want to be an all-around

:09:41.:09:44.

gymnast, that is what you have got to do - excel at your good pieces

:09:45.:09:49.

but be reasonable at your not so. 13.566, Aristotelous on rings.

:09:50.:10:03.

Gabriel can now from Singapore. -- Gan. Both parents are gymnasts. It

:10:04.:10:10.

makes you wonder how old he was when he first started, no doubt he can't

:10:11.:10:14.

amend his first day in the Jim if his parents were gymnasts! He

:10:15.:10:19.

probably started running around in the Jim as soon as he could walk. --

:10:20.:10:27.

gym. He is a very nicely prepared gymnast, strong in that handstand

:10:28.:10:33.

shape. Oh, but legs apart, and elbows a little bit bent. And a

:10:34.:10:38.

very, very short routine with a fall on the dismount! I hope his right

:10:39.:10:43.

foot is all right, he seemed to take that quite solid on the dismount. A

:10:44.:10:45.

little jaded after that. Yeah, problems there, very soft in

:10:46.:11:03.

the back, he needed to get over the top to guarantee the dismount a

:11:04.:11:04.

little bit more. Clinton Purnell, 13.133. Clinton

:11:05.:11:20.

Purnell was second of the Australians in that top group.

:11:21.:11:26.

Tsukahara, very controlled and experienced gymnast, he will do what

:11:27.:11:29.

he has to do to get through here, no heroics, but no doubt a lot of

:11:30.:11:36.

beauty and a lot of grace. Eat kept the difficulty down on the floor

:11:37.:11:41.

with an eye on six consistent performances. -- he kept. Scissor

:11:42.:11:43.

into handstand. Two circles, gone again, decent,

:11:44.:12:00.

that makes it an E, oh! He has fallen off, what a shame! What

:12:01.:12:08.

happened there?! Just a loss of grip? Watch where he puts his hands

:12:09.:12:14.

here. The actually missed, the left hand should have gone under his

:12:15.:12:21.

hips. He almost got his thumb caught. Sometimes at the end, it

:12:22.:12:27.

does take you by surprise. We just couldn't get his hand underneath and

:12:28.:12:37.

a is dumb. -- he. But look, back into the rhythm. -- under his thumb.

:12:38.:12:47.

He has got such a personality, really difficult there. Absolute

:12:48.:12:53.

frustration, but he can see the funny side of it! He made pommel

:12:54.:13:02.

horse locales of this! Rakesh Patra, 14.266. -- look hazardous. This is

:13:03.:13:19.

obviously his big piece, rings. As usual, 13th highest qualifier in

:13:20.:13:28.

this top 24. -- Ashish Kumar. They are all working six pieces of

:13:29.:13:32.

apparatus, this is the second for Kumar.

:13:33.:13:38.

He lifts his legs out behind. Oh, now you can see the shoulders and

:13:39.:13:48.

quite level with the hands, so he'll get the skill, but there will be

:13:49.:13:53.

some deductions. And again, knees should go a little bit further down.

:13:54.:13:57.

It shows that he is not quite strong enough to be able to hold those

:13:58.:14:01.

positions, a bit of a bend of the elbows. Finding the good handstand

:14:02.:14:05.

position. He just needs to lock the shoulders

:14:06.:14:14.

out and really show that good line at the top. Happy in the swinging,

:14:15.:14:24.

and a relatively easy dismount, straight back somersault with full

:14:25.:14:26.

twist, but landed it well. Well, the next gymnast on pommel

:14:27.:14:40.

horse will be Dan Purvis, but first Tsukahara's score, 12.833, a costly

:14:41.:14:45.

fall for him, he's out of the running.

:14:46.:14:58.

After the last piece of apparatus he was in second place, a mark ahead of

:14:59.:15:02.

Keatings. Keatings has big difficulty to come. He has had

:15:03.:15:06.

problem, you can see on the first handstand he didn't get his legs

:15:07.:15:11.

together. He found it very difficult to pick up and I am afraid this is

:15:12.:15:17.

the story of Dan, he needs to get consistent on the support apparatus.

:15:18.:15:22.

But, he will be away, he will be determined. Very quick on the one

:15:23.:15:25.

hand. Travelling with confidence now. He

:15:26.:15:45.

is experienced enough to put that problem behind him and safely

:15:46.:15:48.

through the dismount sequence. Well, two of the big players have had a

:15:49.:15:54.

fall now. The others have to watch out, because they will be more

:15:55.:15:58.

relaxed now, having got that out of the way and obviously Keatings,

:15:59.:16:02.

Wilson will be feeling the pressure that they cannot mess up.

:16:03.:16:06.

Absolutely, he tried to increase his difficulty there, really. He knows,

:16:07.:16:12.

like we said on some of the support work we said he try needs to

:16:13.:16:17.

increase his difficulty. I think Dan Purvis is a great gymnast when he is

:16:18.:16:21.

happy. When he has something niggling at him it will end up like

:16:22.:16:25.

that. But now, having got that fall out of the way it is what you are

:16:26.:16:30.

waiting for, let us be honest. As soon as it is gone you are a

:16:31.:16:35.

different gymnast. Aditya Rana for India.

:16:36.:16:46.

First look at the vault. Big vault. Very big vault. A bit piked down on

:16:47.:16:52.

the landing, but lovely straight body. One-two and a half twists. Big

:16:53.:17:07.

score. It is out 5.2. -- it is out of 5.2.

:17:08.:17:16.

That is good execution. That got him to a 14.033. Indian gymnast is in

:17:17.:17:31.

tenth. Ashish Kumar. The 21st position at the moment. Dan Purvis,

:17:32.:17:38.

12.833. You can see, he is doing the sums in his head. That is going to

:17:39.:17:44.

be a beg score to come back from. ? The other two fall he still has a

:17:45.:17:47.

lot of difficulty in that pommel horse routine. So Mikhail Koudinov

:17:48.:17:50.

from New Zealand. He will go on vault now.

:17:51.:17:54.

Just one chance out of 14.8. The round off, the flip on, the

:17:55.:17:58.

one-and-a-half twist. Very nicely performed. Good direction. Step

:17:59.:18:10.

back. Makes the round off in front of board, so he can flip on and get

:18:11.:18:13.

plenty of of board, so he can flip on and get

:18:14.:18:15.

plenty height and flight off. The quicker you can get your hands back,

:18:16.:18:20.

the straighter the elbows, the more time you will get in the air on the

:18:21.:18:33.

flight off. The score, 13.966 for Mikhail Koudinov. Good steady

:18:34.:18:42.

consistent scoring. Two scores in, look at that for Max

:18:43.:18:46.

Whitlock. That translated into super world class if he can keep it up.

:18:47.:18:50.

Daniel Keatings in second. Wilson doing very well, in third place,

:18:51.:18:54.

Daniel Purvis after the pommel problem is in fourth at the moment.

:18:55.:18:59.

But look at Clinton Purnell in fifth place. What was my prediction in

:19:00.:19:04.

There is only two pieces in, we still have time. That was impressive

:19:05.:19:11.

stuff from half of the Home Nations, with Nile Wilson, Max Whitlock, just

:19:12.:19:13.

superb, using all of that twisting and turning you saw on floor. He

:19:14.:19:17.

will have gone on knowing that the pressure is on him, he is the one

:19:18.:19:21.

that everybody is watching, he has got that leeway if he makes a

:19:22.:19:27.

mistake he can still win it, but he is a perfectionist, he will want to

:19:28.:19:31.

do his best. Keatings is looking good. He can be a bit hit-and-miss

:19:32.:19:37.

at times. I was so pleased for him on the pommel. That is his

:19:38.:19:42.

specialist apparatus, it is not long since he has been back in that six

:19:43.:19:47.

piece competition, he did Fiat year ago but he has been away from it for

:19:48.:19:52.

a while. It is amazing how costly that fall will be for Purvis and

:19:53.:19:57.

Baines. They will be more relaxed now, there is more of a fight and

:19:58.:20:01.

fire in there. I doesn't half put pressure on the likes of Purvis and

:20:02.:20:07.

Keatings. Some will say I have had a fall, I have nothing to lose, let us

:20:08.:20:11.

give it my all, whereas max and that will be looking at that and

:20:12.:20:16.

thinking, some will go, I can relax a bit, because they have had their

:20:17.:20:19.

fall, but some won't have to tipsed what is going on with the rest of

:20:20.:20:23.

their competitors. Purr service, British champion on rings, so the

:20:24.:20:26.

next piece of apparatus is good for him, but the for the younger

:20:27.:20:30.

gymnasts, this is where they could struggle. It is a strong man's

:20:31.:20:36.

event. British gymnasts Tically aren't know for being that strong.

:20:37.:20:40.

Nile could bring a few points back in and max has upgraded his rings.

:20:41.:20:45.

It is still all the play for. That order is not your order just yet.

:20:46.:20:51.

This is why there is such kudos, isn't there, for the all round

:20:52.:20:53.

competition. Not only is it one after the other, but when you lock

:20:54.:20:58.

at the difference in apparatus, to be able to command it from a

:20:59.:21:01.

physical point of view When you are working round this all round, you

:21:02.:21:07.

will see the individual rankings but each gymnast has their own

:21:08.:21:11.

speciality. It is a story of what could have been or Sam Oldham. You

:21:12.:21:15.

get the thought it was his year, he was looking sharp and he wanted to

:21:16.:21:20.

be in this final so far I had seen him in training and he stepped up to

:21:21.:21:24.

form, he was looking in great shape. It is devastating for him. You can

:21:25.:21:28.

see him in the stands, he is cheering on his team-mates but he is

:21:29.:21:34.

fed up. As is Louis Smith who will be in the pommel horse final which

:21:35.:21:38.

is to come tomorrow, I think. So he is having a day off. This is hard.

:21:39.:21:44.

It is gruelling. Saw Lewis, as soon as max and Daniel were on pommel he

:21:45.:21:49.

was looking closer, I wonder what he would have made of max's pommel

:21:50.:21:55.

horse performance? Who knows. They get back out, they get to see the

:21:56.:21:58.

atmosphere, we will see what happens tomorrow. Daniel Keatings is going

:21:59.:22:02.

to be the first gymnast up on ring, there they are still warming up

:22:03.:22:07.

behind us, how important is this phase of the competition, to feel

:22:08.:22:13.

the apparatus from a gymnast's performance -- perspective You gain

:22:14.:22:18.

experience every time you get up. As the competition moves on, the nerves

:22:19.:22:21.

disappear, unless you have a mistake, that is when you start to

:22:22.:22:28.

think more. The thing is it is 90% mental. If do you go in with

:22:29.:22:33.

confidence... When you have really the British team down there, in that

:22:34.:22:40.

group, and how much will they be enjoying each other's company? That

:22:41.:22:43.

is great for them. Even though they are competing for England and

:22:44.:22:47.

Scotland they are out there for themselves, they will have the bars

:22:48.:22:52.

set up, they have the coaches round them. That keep them settled and you

:22:53.:22:58.

can see max is very close, to Scott, and they don't really talk that

:22:59.:23:03.

much. I have been watching them as they go round, just having them near

:23:04.:23:09.

each other they settle each other. Max is looking nervous, but when he

:23:10.:23:15.

gets on the at ray us the he is so calm and cool and collected. If you

:23:16.:23:22.

watch him on the side, he sits off by himself, he doesn't have much

:23:23.:23:26.

conversation, he takes himself into his own world and Scot is a few

:23:27.:23:33.

centimetres away. That is how he has learned that max copes with

:23:34.:23:40.

competitions. He doesn't need to be performing the difficult routines

:23:41.:23:44.

with it. He doesn't. But he is going it. He is doing it as a build up for

:23:45.:23:50.

the World Champions and leadings up to 2016. Here we go then with the

:23:51.:23:56.

third rotation, this David Bishop from New Zealand.

:23:57.:24:00.

On to the vault. Nice twisting, one-and-a-half twists in the

:24:01.:24:04.

straight some a subject, the New Zealand gymnasts are classy, when

:24:05.:24:08.

they show a straight shape, they show a real straight shape.

:24:09.:24:14.

Precision here, on to 2 platform, block, lovely straight body. Feet

:24:15.:24:19.

locked together right down the middle. Not the most difficult vault

:24:20.:24:27.

but one of the most precise. So with his third piece of apparatus

:24:28.:24:32.

Dan Keatings is round round competition so far has been going

:24:33.:24:37.

very well. Let us keep calm and hope for the best.

:24:38.:24:51.

That is nice, he swung straight into that shape. No adjustment of the

:24:52.:24:57.

hip, which is what the judges will look for. Double tuck, double pike,

:24:58.:25:02.

no hint of support. Nice swing all the way through and another nice

:25:03.:25:05.

cross. Again, that lovely flat body line

:25:06.:25:18.

and just a hint of a soft back there on the circle to handstand. A

:25:19.:25:24.

one-and-a-half twist into double jack, that gives him his D dismount.

:25:25.:25:29.

He has had a steady run. All the style of a medallist at world level.

:25:30.:25:33.

Daniel Keatings is very much back in the game. He is such a talented

:25:34.:25:41.

gymnast. Made for the sport. Light frame, strong, supple. Bishop, very

:25:42.:25:50.

happy with 14.125. Here we go. We talked earlier on about the fire

:25:51.:25:57.

inside of Sean O'Hara, and the bull is back. Here he is, snorting at the

:25:58.:26:09.

end of the runway. It is like a long jumpers "Psyche myself up" He will

:26:10.:26:14.

be doing the boxing tomorrow! He gheetz going. Once you have

:26:15.:26:18.

presented you only have 30 seconds. Here he go, one two, and that was

:26:19.:26:24.

very good. He got it round. He did. Huge improvement in what we saw in

:26:25.:26:29.

qualification. The key is, you have to get feet first, there is not a

:26:30.:26:34.

lot of room to get two somersaults in -- somersaults in. You can

:26:35.:26:39.

understand why he got fired up. He needed every ounce of power. He did.

:26:40.:26:44.

He drove the heels up and over, squeezed so tight. Pulled the legs

:26:45.:26:48.

apart. That means you can make the tuck tighter.

:26:49.:26:53.

Really powerfully in with the hands. Can see how he is really pulled into

:26:54.:26:59.

that tuck and he got the feet down and held it well. Maximum score

:27:00.:27:09.

15.66. Keatings. 14.1. Half way round. Looking good.

:27:10.:27:20.

Wilson. A message top himself of come on. We will second that Nile.

:27:21.:27:28.

When you come straight from the junior rank as he has, as you said

:27:29.:27:33.

Matt, strength is the challenge, so look for good swings, and that is

:27:34.:27:37.

not a bad Maltese, but you see the feet down at the back. Nice

:27:38.:27:46.

conversion into cross. But he will be relying on his technique the

:27:47.:27:52.

swing. Keep the swing going. Well done. And a God straddle top

:27:53.:27:57.

planche. See how the rings are turned out. Can he do that all the

:27:58.:28:01.

way through the lift. Yes, he can. -- good. Lovely basic technique. And

:28:02.:28:13.

again. See how the rings pinkie in? Just a little bit hesitation, but

:28:14.:28:17.

that was a very very good dismount. He can swing, this young man, the

:28:18.:28:23.

strength will come. He is looking unaffected by everything that is

:28:24.:28:28.

going on round him. Just can land so well. They spend hours off the

:28:29.:28:34.

trampoline to land. Every time he puts his feet on the floor he is

:28:35.:28:40.

emphatic with it. Leaves a great impression. Sean O'Hara 13.833. He

:28:41.:28:46.

is into third, still has the leaders to come.

:28:47.:29:08.

Iwan Mepham for Wales. Very young promising gymnast, we

:29:09.:29:20.

have seen him looking impressive on two pieces, what about the vault?

:29:21.:29:25.

Straight style. The straight somersault off, adds in a twist and

:29:26.:29:30.

he made it look quite easy, he looked like he has air time for more

:29:31.:29:35.

than one twist. There we are, flips back, lifts

:29:36.:29:42.

high, drops the arms to wrap the twist in. Will lose a bit for the

:29:43.:29:47.

step on landing, but in the air body nice and tight. Good technique.

:29:48.:30:04.

Wilson 14.633! So, a bigger score than Keatings. Well, they are going

:30:05.:30:12.

to swap positions. Wilson was in third. Into this

:30:13.:30:20.

rotation. The leader so far, Max Whitlock. This the weaker of his

:30:21.:30:29.

pieces but he hasn't half been working on difficulty, using the

:30:30.:30:34.

code. And necessary too, when you have one weak apparatus it can bring

:30:35.:30:50.

your average down. Deep in the chest to make sure of the position.

:30:51.:30:55.

Giant handstand. Double back, and make sure of the handstand, nicely

:30:56.:31:08.

too. Two doubles without a hint of support, pure swing.

:31:09.:31:14.

Double twisting double tuck, just a tiny adjustment and landing, but if

:31:15.:31:28.

that is a weakness, it shouldn't be too bad. He has done enough, he's

:31:29.:31:32.

going to stay ahead of Keatings and Wilson. Nile Wilson getting used to

:31:33.:31:39.

seeing himself on telly, on the world stage! When you talk about Max

:31:40.:31:44.

having a weakness, it is not really a week apparatus, but everyone is to

:31:45.:31:48.

be the best in the world, he has to pick up. 13.5, Iwan Mepham. So with

:31:49.:32:03.

Clark will lead from Keatings. -- Whitlock. Such a good routine, we're

:32:04.:32:10.

pretty confident. Aristotelous of Cyprus making sure that the board is

:32:11.:32:14.

absolutely in the right position here, two different boards, hard and

:32:15.:32:20.

soft. Aristotelous going for the Tuffers springboard.

:32:21.:32:27.

Building power, lovely double twisting vault, he will lose a

:32:28.:32:33.

little bit because he was off the red line. A tiny bit of Ben Sneesby,

:32:34.:32:41.

but it was flighty, really driving the feet and hands in. -- bent

:32:42.:32:50.

knees. Not a bad effort at all. Blocks up through the shoulders,

:32:51.:32:56.

snaps off the top, feet and legs are bit and tidy, the judges will deduct

:32:57.:32:59.

for that sort of thing. Max Whitlock, yes, still in the

:33:00.:33:16.

lead, 14.733, so a weaker piece but a very, very good score. So yes, Max

:33:17.:33:22.

Whitlock leads for England, Keatings of Scotland and second, Nile Wilson

:33:23.:33:27.

for England in third. But Clinton Purnell is on his way back. Would

:33:28.:33:35.

you say this was a good piece? He has got the build for it. He is

:33:36.:33:41.

looking for broad at the shoulder and narrow in the hip, he is

:33:42.:33:45.

certainly brought at the shoulder. That is a nice confident start,

:33:46.:33:55.

shrug into cross then into Maltese, secure in the opening strength

:33:56.:33:56.

elements. He turns the double tuck into a

:33:57.:34:14.

second Maltese. I will tell you what, he is going very well indeed.

:34:15.:34:23.

Just lift those heels a bit, was he a bit quick out of position. Back

:34:24.:34:35.

into giant, here is the wind-up. And just a C dismount, probably a good

:34:36.:34:38.

decision. Well, he was in fifth at the end of the last rotation, and he

:34:39.:34:43.

is clawing his way back, Clinton Purnell. He has qualified for rings

:34:44.:34:50.

finals, so it is one of his specialist pieces. He is looking

:34:51.:34:53.

very focused, absolutely loving being part of this group. And how

:34:54.:35:04.

world-class is that first group! Aristotelous scores 13.858. I think

:35:05.:35:07.

Clinton Purnell is going to be ahead of that.

:35:08.:35:17.

Gabriel Gan on vault for Singapore. He is quietly doing well, this lad.

:35:18.:35:26.

He is, he looks like he has got a sore foot, but this looks OK, hours

:35:27.:35:35.

on, style, very nice style with live off the top. The judges deduct for

:35:36.:35:42.

that, but he had plenty of fight off just one twist. So not the greatest

:35:43.:35:52.

difficulty score. -- plenty of height. He pushes lovely and high,

:35:53.:35:59.

one twist. Going for the Tsukahara approach in more ways than one. Very

:36:00.:36:04.

much so! We have seen Tsukahara competing in an extremely measured

:36:05.:36:10.

manner. We have seen his dad's way of getting up to the vault. Yes,

:36:11.:36:17.

Tsukahara's father invented that vault, the Tsukahara with full

:36:18.:36:22.

twist. When we first saw it, it was simply the turn onto the horse,

:36:23.:36:28.

snap, one and a half somersault off. Wow, it has been developed since

:36:29.:36:30.

then! Gabriel Gan, 13.366. Vault will be

:36:31.:36:49.

the next piece of apparatus for this top group we are looking at here.

:36:50.:36:55.

Clinton Purnell, 14.233, he is up into fifth. Max Whitlock, then,

:36:56.:37:03.

currently leading this men's all-around competition, and that is

:37:04.:37:05.

an example of how gymnasts have to an example of how gymnasts have

:37:06.:37:09.

switch focus from one piece of apparatus to another. Mentally, it

:37:10.:37:14.

is a very difficult discipline, this all-around competition. Wadsworth

:37:15.:37:23.

for Australia. Very nice, chin well out, proudly presents, this guy.

:37:24.:37:28.

Nice, clean, straight body shape. Good discipline on the rings, you

:37:29.:37:48.

can see they are turned in. They want to go out, but you try to

:37:49.:38:06.

keep those fingers in, very important, clear of the straps, full

:38:07.:38:13.

twist and double tuck. Another gymnast opting for the C

:38:14.:38:16.

difficulty, just making sure of the execution. It is a good point,

:38:17.:38:23.

because with the all-around, you can win it by somebody losing it. If you

:38:24.:38:27.

keep consistent when somebody else is going all out and making

:38:28.:38:31.

mistakes, you will come through. Absolutely, and all of these

:38:32.:38:35.

gymnasts will have their target, top six, top ten. Rakesh Patra, strong

:38:36.:38:43.

rings performance put him up the rankings, and he will be hoping for

:38:44.:38:49.

much the same here. Real power down there, double twist. Now, he powered

:38:50.:38:55.

into the platform and really hit it well. If you hit it like that, it

:38:56.:38:59.

will propel you into the air. From the angle we saw it, that looked

:39:00.:39:06.

very high. Block here, lift, two twists in, little ungainly at the

:39:07.:39:09.

finish, but a good vault. The effective use of the arms,

:39:10.:39:20.

wrapping in tightly, coming out for landing.

:39:21.:39:31.

Gymnasts immediately off the apparatus, getting themselves ready

:39:32.:39:39.

for the next piece. Luke Wadsworth, he scores 13.733.

:39:40.:39:46.

Tsukahara, the next gymnast for Australia onto rings. Two gymnasts

:39:47.:39:56.

still to go on this piece of apparatus after Tsukahara. Daniel

:39:57.:40:01.

Purvis Anne Frank Baines of Scotland still to come here. -- and.

:40:02.:40:07.

Tsukahara is in the rings final as well.

:40:08.:40:19.

The Japanese not known for hugely powerful rings, but a good start,

:40:20.:40:24.

back into Maltese, strong enough. Very smooth in the swing, holding

:40:25.:40:40.

the head back, shoulders a smidgen high.

:40:41.:40:49.

Straight body in the planche, winding up. Double twisting double

:40:50.:41:05.

tuck, he is having a good time out there. Delightful dismount!

:41:06.:41:20.

Rakesh Patra powered to a 14 on vault. Interesting, with Tsukahara,

:41:21.:41:30.

that, because we haven't seen sign of any difficult skills like

:41:31.:41:34.

double-double, but he is obviously capable of them if he can dismount

:41:35.:41:40.

off rings like that. See the chalk there, vital for grip. You see

:41:41.:41:46.

gymnasts chalking their legs as well, Ashish Kumar grabbing hold of

:41:47.:41:51.

his shins to pull himself around, increase the difficulty, and that is

:41:52.:41:57.

the key. He can see the scoreboard, a six difficulty here, Chris. We are

:41:58.:42:01.

going to see something special, look at that running technique, fabulous!

:42:02.:42:07.

It is a double Tsukahara, but not quite enough airtime to get it right

:42:08.:42:14.

around. Gosh, that was close, close to dangerous, that one! He got the

:42:15.:42:17.

feet down first, but he hung in the air, he really had to wrap that last

:42:18.:42:24.

bit in. So the turn on, the snap, one, two, the first one was piped.

:42:25.:42:32.

No wonder he didn't get around! He went for double pike, I suppose, but

:42:33.:42:34.

he had to tuck the second one in. Tsukahara, 14.733 for his rings,

:42:35.:42:52.

yes, that is more like it. Back in the day, I used to be able to do 15!

:42:53.:42:58.

The 37-year-old, good to see him here. So Scotland's Dan Purvis, he

:42:59.:43:06.

had a little fall on pommel horse behind him. The British rings

:43:07.:43:16.

champion needs everything here. Go he really has addressed one of his

:43:17.:43:22.

early problems in rings. He has addressed it with determination, a

:43:23.:43:27.

good string sequence to open. You cannot do more than three in a row.

:43:28.:43:29.

-- strength sequence. Swing into planche, very determined,

:43:30.:43:45.

making the handstand into giant. Just a tiny hint of a bent arm to

:43:46.:43:50.

make sure of that forward giant. Well through the rings, plenty of

:43:51.:43:56.

rotation, double double, so he is on his way back, on the comeback trail.

:43:57.:44:04.

Backing in a difficulty there, Dan. -- packing. Good to see, that is the

:44:05.:44:08.

only way to come back from disappointment on one piece. And in

:44:09.:44:15.

the nicest possible way, I hope that someone else falls! Not very

:44:16.:44:21.

British, Matt! It is the only chancy has got, Mitch! -- chance he has

:44:22.:44:31.

got. That is the reality of it, I suppose. Ashish Kumar, 13.333. Quite

:44:32.:44:39.

a generous score for what was really have a volt! Chris! I think they

:44:40.:44:44.

were points for effort, all the 3s for effort. I do think that kind of

:44:45.:44:57.

school encourages dangerous work. -- score. A measured approach, just the

:44:58.:45:03.

full twist, the exact opposite, going for style and execution and

:45:04.:45:09.

not so much difficulty. Upsetting the people at home wanting the

:45:10.:45:13.

difficulty, Chris! That is the excitement, I suppose.

:45:14.:45:20.

There we go, the turn on lovely style. Really stylish landing. Arms

:45:21.:45:37.

out. Text book. Dan Purvis, he needs a big score

:45:38.:45:49.

here it is. 14.4. Cheers have cheers of "Come on Frank". He is the

:45:50.:45:57.

19-year-old competing for Scotland Frank Baines, he will be the last

:45:58.:46:01.

one on the rings in rotation. If you look at the pre-Budget reportion of

:46:02.:46:04.

shoulders to hips he is ideally built for this.

:46:05.:46:14.

-- proportion of shoulders to hips. Lovely swing to straddle. Very

:46:15.:46:20.

clean, look at the rings. Kept out. Good clean start from him.

:46:21.:46:31.

Lovely technique in the forward giant. Same in the backward, tiny

:46:32.:46:36.

bit soft, but that is OK. Secure enough. Look at that. Straight to

:46:37.:46:42.

the support position into double pike. That was a lovely sequence to

:46:43.:46:48.

finish. Three doubles in a row. He is so stylish, when it is going

:46:49.:46:53.

right he makes it look easy, he has a natural style about him, Frank

:46:54.:46:57.

Baines. 13.633 for Kristofer Done.

:46:58.:47:17.

The half way point, now, Chris. We are, we are going to have a look at

:47:18.:47:29.

parallel bars for the first time. Mikhail Koudinov from New Zealand.

:47:30.:47:32.

Very nice, front somersault at the start. Very popular, that was

:47:33.:47:43.

difficult work, done well. Very good handstand line. Good

:47:44.:47:52.

rhythm about this routine. Lots of K oh, as I say, he takes an extra

:47:53.:48:03.

step. Very nice front somersault. Classy work.

:48:04.:48:09.

Easily up to handstand. Swinging turn, oh, come on, tighten the back,

:48:10.:48:16.

hold it. Up. Double pike. Nicely done there.

:48:17.:48:21.

Mikhail Koudinov showing a touch of class.

:48:22.:48:29.

So same order then, as it stands. It is only half way. That is a good

:48:30.:48:34.

point. Let us talk about the being half way, what it means to the

:48:35.:48:38.

gymnast, because you come in here and now we are at the business end.

:48:39.:48:42.

They have got over their initial nerve, getting the atmosphere of the

:48:43.:48:45.

gym, now it is a case of they have to keep the focus going. For the men

:48:46.:48:51.

it is so difficult. Six pieces of an -- apparatus, it is so long to keep

:48:52.:48:55.

that concentration, with eight people in a group, you can be

:48:56.:48:59.

waiting 20 minutes before you do your routine. We were haar saying

:49:00.:49:03.

this was a weak piece for Max, when you look at the whole of his six

:49:04.:49:08.

pieces and put it in perspective, it's the weaker, but he didn't half

:49:09.:49:13.

perform it well. That is the thing, his weakest piece and he is still

:49:14.:49:19.

scoring a 14 pone 7. We can hardly call it weak. If you want to be in

:49:20.:49:22.

the top spot in the all round you have to have a great score on every

:49:23.:49:30.

piece. You look at his style, and it is incredibly strenuous this piece

:49:31.:49:33.

of apparatus, how it makes it look so effortless. That is the one thing

:49:34.:49:41.

about him, there is nothing for the judges to deduct from, so his

:49:42.:49:44.

execution is Ruth Kelly high and that is great for him, he can keep

:49:45.:49:49.

building that difficulty, and just hopefully keep the execution as

:49:50.:49:51.

well. -- really high. hopefully keep the execution as

:49:52.:49:54.

well. -- One thing we are not seeing is the difficulty and the execution,

:49:55.:49:59.

so give everybody an idea of how the scoring works. You get one score,

:50:00.:50:04.

one is difficulty, how many element, how difficult is each element, then

:50:05.:50:07.

the execution, which comes from ten and will work its way down, if you

:50:08.:50:12.

fall yoifr lose a whole mark and the two scores are put together. In the

:50:13.:50:17.

construction of a routine, these are not set pieces, everybody is not

:50:18.:50:21.

doing the same thing, it is up to you, what you want to include.

:50:22.:50:26.

Mainly the coaches will come up with the routines but the gymnast will

:50:27.:50:31.

have an input, they will say "I like this" or "I like that". Max is such

:50:32.:50:37.

a great twister they have tried to play the code with that. Some have

:50:38.:50:42.

their own move, don't they. The Tweddle. Some of us might! We can

:50:43.:50:48.

see obviously, Max, well, he is well ahead half way round, almost two

:50:49.:50:53.

marks clear of Keatings and Wilson in third. A world on Nile Wilson,

:50:54.:50:58.

how he is managing to keep his... He looked unaffected by what is going

:50:59.:51:04.

on round him. Those routines are unbelievable. We saw him at the

:51:05.:51:09.

junior European, that was a different atmosphere, he was top dog

:51:10.:51:13.

going into it. Now he is the underdog, but he is holding his own

:51:14.:51:19.

completely. Clinton Purnell, he is worth a mention, he was key to Wales

:51:20.:51:23.

in the team performance, but for him he is doing a brilliant individual.

:51:24.:51:27.

He has had a fabulous competition, it would be great for him to be up

:51:28.:51:33.

there in the same group as Daniel Keatings and Max. He is holding his

:51:34.:51:39.

own. He has just done a great ring routine, so... We will see him again

:51:40.:51:44.

in the final. It is great for Welsh gymnastics to be seen at this

:51:45.:51:47.

competition. I think even, when we look at the World Championships and

:51:48.:51:50.

the European Championship, you only ever get two gymnasts in a final

:51:51.:51:55.

from the whole of the Home Nations, from Team GB, but like you say, to

:51:56.:52:01.

come here and have three gymnasts that are allowed percountry, we are

:52:02.:52:07.

looking at three English, three Scots and three lads from Wale es.

:52:08.:52:10.

That is great. With the World Championships being here next year,

:52:11.:52:14.

it is a great test event for them all. The system will see how they

:52:15.:52:19.

are going. We can senile Will is only will be first up. That -- we

:52:20.:52:29.

can see Wilson. We are not doing bad. Tsukahara. We have been

:52:30.:52:34.

surprised by his performance, Dan purr service, he will use everything

:52:35.:52:40.

he can to get back. Daniel Keatings, but from a rings perspective, to

:52:41.:52:44.

Great Britain it has been weak piece, but looking at Frayn, looking

:52:45.:52:49.

at Nile Wilson we have real hope. -- train Frayn -- Frank Baines, British

:52:50.:52:55.

gymnastics have targeted rings and thought "How can we improve it?" You

:52:56.:53:00.

can see that with the juniors coming through. What can we expect from

:53:01.:53:06.

vault? Max we know has been working on a new move. Not many people do it

:53:07.:53:10.

in the world. You can see how pleased he was to day bow it

:53:11.:53:13.

yesterday. But they are all going to be coming out of the two-and-a-half

:53:14.:53:18.

twists, Keatings has got a slightly lower difficulty on vault.

:53:19.:53:19.

twists, Keatings has got a slightly lower He is only doing a double

:53:20.:53:23.

twist or he did in qualification, it is clean and solid so there is

:53:24.:53:27.

nothing for the judges to take. Will that be enough, do you think, for

:53:28.:53:32.

Keatings to stay ahead of Nile Wilson? He still has that advantage

:53:33.:53:38.

of about a full mark, so it will be a battle between those two for

:53:39.:53:43.

second. How will Keatings be feeling half way round? . I think he will be

:53:44.:53:49.

pleased. He know he has that experience and not let himself get

:53:50.:53:52.

too giddy. He has to hold himself back and say I still have three

:53:53.:54:00.

apparatus. I think he had a reality check in the team final on parallel

:54:01.:54:05.

bars when he did his dismount and went too much The routine was

:54:06.:54:11.

superb, and then he literately did the dismount, maybe a slight lack of

:54:12.:54:15.

concentration and fell over. We have to brace ourself, because the slow

:54:16.:54:18.

motion wave is coming round and we don't want to let it down That has

:54:19.:54:24.

been one of the highlights. I never seen a slow motion Mexican wave.

:54:25.:54:29.

Looks fab, they do it in fast motion and then slow motion. I saw Max

:54:30.:54:33.

warming up there, this is the key with vault. It is all over in the

:54:34.:54:38.

blink of an eye, how do you prepare for something like that? For the

:54:39.:54:44.

gymnastics it is a favourite piece because it is over so quickly, you

:54:45.:54:48.

know it, there doesn't tend to be the problems with vault you may have

:54:49.:54:51.

with the other apparatus. Nile Wilson is at the end of the runway.

:54:52.:54:58.

He is just making sure that is right. The board being put in place.

:54:59.:55:03.

He is set. We are set for the fourth piece of apparatus from six, you can

:55:04.:55:07.

see that score board to his right hand side, 5.6, so that ist

:55:08.:55:11.

difficulty for England, Nile Wilson, currently in third position in this

:55:12.:55:18.

men's all round final. Can he keep the consistency.

:55:19.:55:24.

Two-and-a-half twist, a bit deep on the landing. Just to make sure he

:55:25.:55:31.

collected his feet. Very good vault from Nile. Yes, he looked at it

:55:32.:55:41.

tired. He had to dig deep, get those heels over fast, wrap it in. But he

:55:42.:55:50.

is so aware of where he is. Knew it was a bit short. Knew he had to get

:55:51.:55:57.

the legs ready for landing. He is a gymnast that meets the floor, the

:55:58.:56:02.

floor doesn't hit him. Nice and high. Two-and-a-half twists

:56:03.:56:06.

is a very long way round, that is why it is worth 5.-- 5.6 and he will

:56:07.:56:12.

squeeze every tenth out after that. He will need it if he is to catch

:56:13.:56:18.

Dan Keatings. 14.7, that is a very very big score indeed, and will put

:56:19.:56:27.

the pressure on Keatings in silver. There they are. Third and second

:56:28.:56:31.

position at the moment. Keatings just taking a drink. That is God,

:56:32.:56:39.

his says. -- that is good, he say, not sure if he is saying that to

:56:40.:56:45.

himself or Nile. Over on high bar our first chance to

:56:46.:56:52.

see a real crowd pleaser. Mikhail Koudinov. But we will see Max first.

:56:53.:56:59.

Here he is, with a six difficulty. This is one of hardest vaults that

:57:00.:57:04.

you will see Hoare at the Commonwealth Games and he is risking

:57:05.:57:10.

everything. Says a lot about him. Not holding back, a big vault here.

:57:11.:57:17.

-- you will see here. And he skipped forward but he got his feet down, he

:57:18.:57:21.

will get the difficulty, that was very very courageous and it says a

:57:22.:57:27.

lot about him. Even very controlled with his deductions on landing. He

:57:28.:57:34.

wasn't frenetic. He is just a very controlled gymnast, and he knew he

:57:35.:57:38.

was a bit short, he was going to give way as little at possible. He

:57:39.:57:42.

could have done the two-and-a-half, to be sure of a comfortable score.

:57:43.:57:47.

They retired. Third day of competition, I wondered whether they

:57:48.:57:52.

might think "Is it wise to go for the big skill?" They are doing it to

:57:53.:57:57.

try their routines before the worlds? Yes and to tell the rest of

:57:58.:58:03.

world they are well capable. It postings a message to everyone else.

:58:04.:58:10.

Is -- it posts a message to even else. Mikhail Koudinov. Is --

:58:11.:58:14.

everyone else. Mikhail Koudinov having a steady competition.

:58:15.:58:20.

This though, one of my favourite pieces to watch. High releases, big

:58:21.:58:26.

dismount, twists and turns. And a real potential for pinging off.

:58:27.:58:31.

It is. It ist real blue ribbon event. That was very nice.

:58:32.:58:38.

The extra half turn. Here we go without. He flights that very well

:58:39.:58:46.

indeed. Fabulous height on the Tkatchev, the straddle over the bar.

:58:47.:58:51.

And oh, his guard has come undone. Wow, now, as a coach you are very

:58:52.:58:56.

very unhappy if they haven't stuck tape round that guard to make sure

:58:57.:59:00.

that doesn't happen. As you can see, the strap is velcro, and they do

:59:01.:59:04.

often come loose, but so dangerous for it to come loose on high bar It

:59:05.:59:09.

a ritual, you say coaches wandering round with tape stuck to their

:59:10.:59:15.

tracksuit top, they take the guards as a precaution and he will yet

:59:16.:59:18.

that. The minute that comes loose and wraps round the bar itself. Big

:59:19.:59:24.

problem. So he had no option, but to jump-off, but that is a shame,

:59:25.:59:27.

because it was a good looking routine.

:59:28.:59:41.

One-and-a-half turn. The full turn after the endo. All these moves

:59:42.:59:46.

named after people who first did them. They are the close elements,

:59:47.:59:50.

here we go. Another straddle and coming close to the bar. Have to

:59:51.:59:56.

show those as well as the big long swings and that is the fantastic

:59:57.:00:00.

triple back somersault. We saw it in qualification, but what a shame.

:00:01.:00:05.

What a shame and what a silly preparation error, that was

:00:06.:00:11.

absolutely avoidable. Max Whitlock with a huge 14.5 for vault. Next

:00:12.:00:20.

gymnast up Clinton Purnell. He is posting a 5.2. As we said with Beth

:00:21.:00:27.

earlier on, that score made up of execution and difficulty, so his

:00:28.:00:33.

execution will only be marked out of is a.-- 15 pine 2. Exhalation of

:00:34.:00:45.

breath, into his run, twisting slightly deep, having a great

:00:46.:00:52.

competition. Number four, and he has hit or four. Parallel bars and high

:00:53.:00:57.

bar to come for Clinton Purnell. Yeah, for some at this stage, they

:00:58.:01:02.

can really enjoy it. For others, it is pressure on. That was a very

:01:03.:01:10.

clean double twist. As long as he gets right around, they will take

:01:11.:01:16.

away tents from the execution score, and he did not have many to be taken

:01:17.:01:18.

away. -- tenths. He needs a tiny bit of work on ankle

:01:19.:01:50.

extension. And that is lovely, but we want to see it extend right

:01:51.:01:54.

through to the toes, performing very nicely, good control. He is a

:01:55.:02:03.

gymnast that has impressed much at these championships. Very well

:02:04.:02:06.

controlled double pike dismount. Not much for the judges to get hold of

:02:07.:02:10.

as far as execution is concerned, he did well. His competition is getting

:02:11.:02:17.

better. He looks quite relaxed, quite confident. Not overwrought for

:02:18.:02:29.

17 years of age. Clinton Purnell, 14.333, it is good for the Welshman.

:02:30.:02:37.

was with. He has had his ups and downs in this competition. Let's

:02:38.:02:59.

bogey as plenty of up here! -- let's hope he has. Plenty of aggression,

:03:00.:03:06.

tuck in the first, just to make sure of the rotation, just a question of

:03:07.:03:13.

how strictly the judges deduct. It almost changes the vault, because if

:03:14.:03:17.

you were doing it in the tucked shape, it would be one thing, but he

:03:18.:03:23.

does a mixture of the two. I guess the deduction will be for

:03:24.:03:26.

does a mixture of the two. I guess on, but very good off. He did a

:03:27.:03:31.

being Crosby, didn't he? # Straight

:03:32.:03:40.

Style good in the air. Neat, together until they just get ready

:03:41.:03:45.

for that landing. High bar and floor to come, Iwan

:03:46.:04:03.

Mepham scores 13.6 execs for parallel bars. -- 13 .666.

:04:04.:04:13.

Aristotelous, the next gymnast to chalk up, from Cyprus. A score of

:04:14.:04:25.

11.833 on this piece of apparatus. Long levers, which hopefully will

:04:26.:04:29.

work well for him. He will be hoping for a better performance.

:04:30.:04:37.

He controlled that start very well. Just a shade off the handstand, just

:04:38.:04:43.

not quite locking the shoulders out. See that again. Nice full turn, just

:04:44.:04:57.

a little bit loose with the legs. But it is smooth.

:04:58.:05:02.

Oh, a big step to the side! That is really a bit of a shame, because the

:05:03.:05:09.

work on the apparatus was good. The floor took him by surprise, he

:05:10.:05:15.

thought he had another few inches, I think. A flat dismount, he didn't

:05:16.:05:21.

really elevate. That bargain of how far out the side door you go!

:05:22.:05:30.

Tsukahara just waiting for his compatriot's score, and it is 14.3,

:05:31.:05:37.

good for vault. Tsukahara going for a 5.2, no doubt he will complete his

:05:38.:05:44.

namesake, the vault given his name by his father.

:05:45.:05:54.

It is like a handspring on and a somersault off, but no doubt a few

:05:55.:06:01.

bits in between before he lands. Great tribute to his dad, he has

:06:02.:06:06.

added a double twist, and I think he thought he was going to move, but he

:06:07.:06:13.

didn't, glue on his feet! That is absolutely how you do it. Watch

:06:14.:06:18.

that, my son, because his lad is a gymnast, and it is Tsukahara's dream

:06:19.:06:24.

that three from the family are international gymnasts. He did not

:06:25.:06:29.

quite bring his arms out to stabilise the landing, and I think

:06:30.:06:32.

he was almost, his shoulders were starting to make an extra twist. He

:06:33.:06:37.

did very well to keep his feet still. Aristotelous scores 12.933,

:06:38.:06:43.

so an improvement on his qualification score. Koudinov,

:06:44.:06:51.

12.666. He is annoyed with himself. Gabriel Gan, the next gymnast on

:06:52.:07:06.

parallel bars, and we're expecting good stuff from him here, beautiful

:07:07.:07:08.

lines on parallel bars, and we're expecting

:07:09.:07:12.

good stuff from pommel horse. Yeah, I would expect this to be a very

:07:13.:07:17.

strong piece for him, shows the handstand shape beautifully,

:07:18.:07:25.

swinging turn to start the exercise. Smooth in the pirouetting. You can

:07:26.:07:33.

see the gymnast change the speed of the swing dependent on what move

:07:34.:07:38.

they are going to do. Lift deal handstand, shoulders back. -- lift

:07:39.:07:45.

to handstand. But a very simple dismount will hurt him, because the

:07:46.:07:50.

gymnasts take their simple moves, but you have to include the

:07:51.:07:55.

dismount. Why would he have gone for Jason bold dismount? He could have

:07:56.:08:02.

done a little bit more spectacular. -- for such a simple dismount?

:08:03.:08:06.

Tsukahara, 14.466 for his Tsukahara. The crowd roar as Dan Purvis for

:08:07.:08:22.

Scotland is introduced. Just a reminder, just the one vault, all or

:08:23.:08:29.

nothing on here for Dan Purvis. Two and a half twists, a big step to the

:08:30.:08:33.

side, but that will do and a half twists, a big step to the

:08:34.:08:35.

side, but that will him no harm at all. 5.6 difficulty, so 15.6 before

:08:36.:08:43.

the judges can steal anything from him. Safely through! You can

:08:44.:08:47.

definitely see these guys are on their third day of competition,

:08:48.:08:52.

though, like this was easy for him on day one, but a big step backwards

:08:53.:08:57.

by today. They still can perform them just great, but they haven't

:08:58.:09:03.

got such boundless energy that they are stepping forwards at the end of

:09:04.:09:07.

it. Lovely vault, though, such good direction.

:09:08.:09:15.

12.866, that is a very good score considering he did such a simple

:09:16.:09:24.

dismount. Yes, it looks like he had a bit of a sore foot on one piece,

:09:25.:09:29.

but then he vaulted fairly reasonably. Max Whitlock, the

:09:30.:09:32.

current leader, Dan Purvis waiting for his vault score. He scores

:09:33.:09:41.

14.666, big score for Dan! Rakesh Patra, a big vault score from

:09:42.:10:11.

him. Good line there. At the last Commonwealth Games, we were really

:10:12.:10:16.

excited by the Indian gymnasts in terms of difficulty, but they were a

:10:17.:10:20.

bit short on good shapes, but this is lovely work. Really good shapes,

:10:21.:10:29.

good flight. Excellent, look how high above the rails he was, no

:10:30.:10:33.

problem at all linking the skills together. Good height, good landing!

:10:34.:10:42.

A really much, much improved routine, he is delighted. Rakesh

:10:43.:10:45.

Patra moving up the ranks. Baines. Now, he did two Bolton

:10:46.:11:04.

qualification, aiming for the final, which he got into with the third

:11:05.:11:14.

highest score. -- two vaults in qualification. 5.6, two and a half

:11:15.:11:20.

twists, and he sat it down, what a pity. Chris May the point, third

:11:21.:11:27.

day, pressure. -- Chris made the point. And a slip-up on pommel

:11:28.:11:32.

horse, he couldn't afford another slip on vault, what a shame. But he

:11:33.:11:36.

just needs to build and gain the experience, no doubt he will be

:11:37.:11:41.

back. It was a massive vault, actually, lots of height and flight,

:11:42.:11:47.

super two and a half twists. That is a lack of experience, you could see

:11:48.:11:51.

Dan Purvis was the same, a little bit short, but he was ready for the

:11:52.:11:57.

step back. Frank not quite so experienced. Also not so experienced

:11:58.:12:00.

with three days of competition. Rakesh Patra, 14.333, very good

:12:01.:12:16.

score indeed. What a shame about his pommel horse at the beginning. I

:12:17.:12:21.

know! 13.9, a big score considering he sat it out. Probably the highest

:12:22.:12:30.

vault we have seen so far today. Dan Keatings makes his way up the stairs

:12:31.:12:37.

to the end of the vault runway. How important is this vault for

:12:38.:12:40.

Scotland's Daniel Keatings? Silver medal position at the moment. He

:12:41.:12:47.

focuses in, he is off! Blade safe with a double twist, and

:12:48.:12:59.

it was a good decision, 5.2 difficulty, that shows his maturity

:13:00.:13:04.

and experience. It is good enough for Dan! The medal could well be

:13:05.:13:12.

within reach. He needs to not get too excited, he did this in the team

:13:13.:13:15.

competition as well, the double twist, and it is a nice, clean, well

:13:16.:13:22.

flighted double twist. Although only out of 5.2, he can probably squeeze

:13:23.:13:26.

into the height eight or nines for execution. -- high eights. Daniel

:13:27.:13:36.

Keatings has learnt a lot about this arena over the last few days,

:13:37.:13:39.

Keatings has learnt a lot about this arena over the last few and now,

:13:40.:13:42.

when it matters, in the finals, he is putting it all into play. 14.333

:13:43.:13:49.

with a very strong parallel bars routine to come, and he will round

:13:50.:13:54.

off the competition on high bar. Ashish Kumar.

:13:55.:14:02.

Another gymnast with a beautiful straight line through the back, but

:14:03.:14:09.

that swing was meant to be two-way handstand, and it was well off. The

:14:10.:14:13.

next element was very nice, and the somersault was ambitious, but when

:14:14.:14:17.

you have to swing backwards and forwards at the end of it, you lose

:14:18.:14:23.

all you have gained in doing it. Some flights there, a little and

:14:24.:14:29.

gamely, legs high on the catch. But he swings well. -- a

:14:30.:14:30.
