Good afternoon. A wise man told me there are only three sports,

hunting, shooting and fishing. Plenty of shooting, 19 gold medals

to be won over five days. The first of which in the 10m pistol for

women. And we have reached the final stage. One British representative in

it, Coral Kennerley, from Wales, the 20-year-old. We join the final now

after the sixth shot. I hand you over to our commentators.

Two points behind Coral Kennerley, the 20-year-old from Wales. She will

not want to go out at the moment. There was a lot of local support for

things can change with a poor shot. You can see the reaction, she is not

hurries her shooting. That is not going to be enough, I

don't think. Another solid shot from the Welsh

woman, Kennerley, and I think that will be that for the 28-year-old.

They are all fairly nerdy, apart from the Australian.

It is Armin Asha who has to leave at this stage. A long haul through

qualification and she will be disappointed to leave so early.

She has gained eight place at the Commonwealth Games.

This is how it looks at the moment. Goel is opening up a useful leader

from the Australian. Here is the 20-year-old who trains

at home by putting one foot in her shower, shooting through the

bathroom, bedroom and onto the landing to get that 10m distance!

It is not unusual, I am told. She is seventh. She needs to pull

herself up. She has 0.6 to make up on the person ahead of her from

Singapore. Her debut to the Commonwealth Games,

fantastic to get to the final. Let us keep her in. The coach likes

that. Kiejko is shooting a 10.1.

Malaika Goel is top of the pile at the moment.

solid. She is putting pressure on herself.

She seems to be holding it together. The whole thing is to keep yourself

That is a good shot by Coral. Sidhu is one of the favourites.

Goel is top. Sidhu is in all sorts of bother.

Very, very tense here. Amongst the audience, amongst the shooters.

Confirmed seventh place, from India, is Heena Sidhu.

A little bit of confusion amongst the officials. Confirmed seventh

place. She would have expected to be in the medals. The woman whose

family have represented India. It is in her blood. She has to make way.

A crushing disappointment for her. It will be. She would have been a

big medal hope for India. To come out at this stage, she will be

disappointed. That is the excitement of this new

system. No chance to bounce back. You are on a level playing field

before coming into this. Everyone comes into this final in

the same place. I still have Malaika Goel.

Coral Kennerley. Still in the petition after that really good

under pressure last shot in the last series. 9.5.

That shooting from the Singaporean has pushed her opponent into fourth.

The margins are so narrow, it is so tense at this point.

9.5 from her. Her sister has a 10.6. The form is coming from Dorothy

Ludwick -- Ludwig. It could change with this last shot.

Look at the breathing. Nerves make you breathe hard which is exactly

what you don't want. They are trying to let out as much

attention as possible. Let us hope that mum stays in a bit

longer. The Canadians are very strong in

this discipline. Kiejko shooting to stay in here. She needs a really big

score. Oh, it is an 8.5. Oh, dear, that

will seal her fate, I am afraid. It will indeed. A great shot by her

sister, Dorothy. I am afraid that was a mistake too much.

If it is any consolation, she returns to her two-week-old baby.

What a feat to come here, get to the final and come fifth, having had a

child only two weeks ago. Her dad, Bill, shot at two Olympics.

It is in the family. that her and her sister it is very

nip and tuck who comes out on top. She has won that battle, but she has

to keep calm, she is top of the pile at the moment with the Australian,

Lalita Yauhleuskaya, just behind. The Australian really has the

experience behind her, she has been doing this for years and years.

Russia, went to Belarus, represented them at two Olympic Games, even when

she was living in Australia she competed in since the -- in Sydney

for Belarus then moved to Australia. She is a six time gold medallist. It

is the Australian who is in ball of their -- who is in other there.

Well, this 25-year-old one of the older members of the Singaporean

squad, believe it or not. 14th in Delhi, but she is shooting very well

is a really good, but she will be disappointed.

did not turn into silver or gold. To be knocked out on that last shot

must really hurt. Absolutely, that was a fantastic

effort and I know she will be absolutely over the moon. That is

They have such a history in the Commonwealth Games, 52 going into

Glasgow, 2014. Two shots. Between these athletes and old. --

And that is enough! Shun Teo Xie of Singapore will take

the gold in the ten metres air pistol for women. She says she loves

intense mental discipline and focus, and she has shown that throughout

this final. World ranked at just 70, but she has come through and shown

what she is made. She has indeed, she has come it on top, held herself

together and she is Victoria. Well done. The Singaporeans in front

of me are on their feet, they can hardly believe it. The coach is

absolutely delighted. Disappointment for Malaika Goel, the 16-year-old,

but goodness me I am sure we will see her again, as well. What

potential that young lady has, 16 years old and a silver medal at the

Commonwealth Games. Gold medal for Shun Teo Xie, 14th in

Delhi, first here. That was a terrific performance from

Singapore's Shun Teo Xie, the silver medal goes to India and Canada's

Dorothy Ludwig gets the bronze. Coral Kennerley bringing us our

first dose of the Courage the gun show and she has been talking to

David Kelly. I was really happy to make the

final, I would have liked to shoot better, I have shot better than that

in the past, but I am at the Commonwealth Games, cannot be

happier. I was watching you in the final and

you looked very relaxed, where you? No, definitely not! I was quite

nervous, it is a scary situation to be in.

Tell me, legend has it that you practice with one foot in the

shower, shooting across the landing? How does that work crash at yes, I

could not drive and I used to practice at home, the only place

with ten metres was upstairs so I used to shoot from the bathroom

through the landing it was the only place I could train.

The Commonwealth Games are not over for you, you are back in action

tomorrow. Yes, I have 25 metre 0.2 to pistol

tomorrow morning, have to get ready for that one.

I will try and make the final again, that would be good. Two finals at

the Commonwealth Games, I am happy with one but we will see how it

goes. -- 0.2 to pistol. -- 0.22 pistol.

David Comock in the last two years in doing this job I have interviewed

many sports stars I don't think I have ever heard of a training regime

like Coral Kennerley's! I tell you what, that could be very

dangerous, particularly if you are mum or dad doing the hoovering. I

think she has moved on from that, she is now saying she is able to be

driven to training and I don't think she still uses that rather unique

training methodology. Just one question on Heena Sidhu,

she was the hot favourite going into this, what happened?

Well, she did not win! She is ranked fourth in the world. In the course

of my reset before this everyone was tipping her for the gold medal. She

had been world number one earlier this year, down to fourth, and she

was the hot favourite. In the end, she just did not perform on the

day. As you can probably see, it is a very tense competition here.

Concentration is of the utmost and she just did not do it on the day.

What a start for Singapore, they have won their first middle of the

Games and it is gold. -- first medal.

It is indeed come and to think that wasn't expected, as you mentioned

the Indian sugar was the hot favourite. Perhaps we thought Coral

Kennerley would get perhaps the bronze medal. I spoke to her earlier

and she thought getting to the final was a good enough achievement for

her and he had another crack at it again tomorrow in the 25 metre.

Many congratulations to Singapore, are very proud day there at

Carnoustie. David you very much indeed. From

shooting we will now turn our attention to netball. England have a

very big game tomorrow against Australia. Just across the bridge at

the SECC. Before that they take on Wales. If England are to break the

domination of Australia and New Zealand in the netball, they have to

do it without their inspirational captain, Pamela Cookey.

Don't get me wrong, I have my moments where you just think life is

not fair, wide? ! This was going to be an awesome year, our squad was

looking so good, we were so prepped and ready for it, so why now? But I

have to be positive otherwise I cannot come back, if I go into

myself and let it get on top of me it is not good for anyone. When it

first happened on court I thought someone had kicked me. I thought, I

have just been hit, with some ice on it and I will be good to go. The

physio looked at it and said, I think you have snapped your

Achilles. The reaction has been a bit crazy, a whirlwind. I have had

so much support, goodwill messages and get well soon, and I think, I am

single important! If that makes sense. -- I am kind of important. I

think it would not do the team's feelings for you justice or your

leadership skills justice to say it was easy for us to deal with. It has

not been and I think our true leader is missed and you should know that.

However, I think the way that we intend to deal with that is that

everyone just has to pull their weight. I think it is easy for the

team come especially for us as individuals, to sit back and to

allow your leadership skills at your experience and your just some

netball and abilities to take over. We're not going to be that England

team for now until you come back. Then we will let you do everything

again! You're one of the best captains I

have ever been under. You're one of the best, and we will miss you,

obviously. I will miss you, as one of my my close friends. As a team

come in terms of what we have, Kadeen Corbin has a massive

opportunity now. She moans and moans, well, now is her chance, you

want that, go and take it. We have always tried to tell ourselves that

we don't need our hands to be held. When you step on court it is

we don't need our hands to be held. When you step on about you doing

your job and making it work. When you step on about you doing

your job and making it Having the little high-fives and the taps and

during each other up, we are a team and we do stay in our bubble. We do

not have an Olympics are so we put everything into the Commonwealth

Games. But this year in Glasgow everyone is

so pumped and excited for it. My gosh, we are excited, I was really

pleased to go to Delhi in 2010 and it is the best memory have ever.

It is awesome, being part of a bigger team is so good, because we

are always really excited about meeting everyone. We are always

like, hello! We don't know them. Pretending we are best mates.

Jessica Ennis-Hill! Hello! But it is good to be part of team

England, because you will get the same kit, you get the same area in

the athletes' village, you see them at mealtimes and use what celebs

like Usain Bolt and other people. -- you spot celebs.

To be part of a big, international, global event is a special

opportunity and the fact it is almost on home soil...

Node jet lag! Exactly, that is awful. It exactly quite nice to be

focusing on the netball side of things. I think it will be a

fantastic experience for everyone and I am sure we will see, you will

be up there supporting us as part of the experience, as well.

It is really weird to watch it, I just want to get out of there and

play. But then I look at my boot and I know that I can't. It is nice to

be able to watch the girls and support them and give them

encouragement. Love you, Babe.
