Good afternoon, Davis Cup ties are lard to win away -- hard to win away

:00:35.:00:43.

from home. But Britain are on the verge of that. They're one win away

:00:44.:00:51.

from a place in the systemy final after a convict -- semi-final in a

:00:52.:01:01.

tense victory. Here is the teting, in Belgrade. Now the doubles

:01:02.:01:07.

contest. That is a very fine set of tennis. A superb start. That drops

:01:08.:01:18.

in, it is one set all. It is a massive body blow to the British

:01:19.:01:24.

team. What a way to finish. 2-1. And that's it. Britain are in the

:01:25.:01:29.

driving seat. Wonderful win. Brilliant. Britain 2-1 up. One

:01:30.:01:42.

victory would put them through. All eyes on Kyle Edmund, just 21, he is

:01:43.:01:52.

Britain's No 1, because Murs is -- Andy Murray is not playing. We will

:01:53.:01:56.

find out more about this young man today. As he tries to put Britain

:01:57.:02:11.

through. Edmund against Dusan Lajovic and then Janko Tipsarevic.

:02:12.:02:16.

Argentina are doing well and win if they win will play the winner of

:02:17.:02:31.

Italy against Argentina. France are 2-1 up against the Czech Republic.

:02:32.:02:40.

And in America the Bryans lost the doubles match and the United States

:02:41.:02:50.

need Isner to beat Cilic. That is what is happening else where. All

:02:51.:02:56.

eyes on Belgrade. John and Jamie are here. It is a big day for Kyle. We

:02:57.:03:05.

thought it would come down to this and Kyle would get his chance to

:03:06.:03:08.

shine. What a performance against Janko Tipsarevic on Friday. We

:03:09.:03:13.

weren't sure how good Janko Tipsarevic would be, but Kyle Edmund

:03:14.:03:18.

was fantastic and took control of his own performance. Massive

:03:19.:03:22.

hitting, lots of winners and today the doubles team have done a great

:03:23.:03:26.

job in putting the team 2-1 up and he has a chance to win the tie.

:03:27.:03:32.

Talking of doubles match, it was a tense win, four sets look OK, but it

:03:33.:03:40.

had its moments? Yes they were such heavy favourites, especially when

:03:41.:03:43.

Janko Tipsarevic didn't play in the doubles. That creates its own

:03:44.:03:48.

pressure. The boys should have won the second and lost that and it got

:03:49.:03:52.

tight in the third and the Serbia team started to believe they could

:03:53.:03:58.

win the match. But I think Jamie Murray held it together, Dom

:03:59.:04:02.

Inglot's return of serve went off for a bit. But they got it together.

:04:03.:04:08.

They can play a lot better, but they played well enough to win and got

:04:09.:04:15.

the job done. It was a scratch pairing, we were expecting Janko

:04:16.:04:20.

Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic is a decent doubles player. Sometimes

:04:21.:04:26.

that first set was so comfortable, because Filip Krajinovic was the

:04:27.:04:30.

weak link. But the British pair would have known this guy is a good

:04:31.:04:35.

player and he would have come back into the match. That is what

:04:36.:04:38.

happened. It is so difficult when you have so many chances, eleven

:04:39.:04:43.

break points and only taking one. It was so important they got the third

:04:44.:04:49.

set. If they had all those chances and didn't get that, it would have

:04:50.:04:52.

been difficult. The doubles is always crucial. They knew this was

:04:53.:05:02.

going to be the decide Serce. -- decider. We weren't sure who would

:05:03.:05:09.

play well and whether Kyle would settle and Janko Tipsarevic we

:05:10.:05:11.

didn't know how he was going to play. The doubles we thought would

:05:12.:05:16.

be our win and then we lose the second set and we are thinking a

:05:17.:05:22.

banker win would have put the tie in jeopardy. It was nice for Dom to

:05:23.:05:28.

serve it out. He must have been tense! And of course he has been in

:05:29.:05:34.

so many Davis Cup squads and the two doubles matches he has played he has

:05:35.:05:39.

played one of best teams of all time in the Bryans. Yesterday he had a

:05:40.:05:44.

couple of nervy moments. But two massive serves in the end to win it

:05:45.:05:50.

when he was very pleased at the end. He is not known as Dom The Bomb for

:05:51.:05:58.

nothing. So happy for him, 9-7 in the fifth, losing to the Bryans, you

:05:59.:06:02.

feel you have won a rubber for the team. Exactly, he has been a good

:06:03.:06:10.

team member, but he hasn't won a match. Now I really belong. He's

:06:11.:06:18.

lovely fella, to play the Bryan brothers twice, so he has finally

:06:19.:06:25.

won one and we are blessed with good doubles players and Andy Murray when

:06:26.:06:29.

he plays, that is almost a guaranteed two victories and now

:06:30.:06:32.

doubles players even if Andy doesn't play, we have a decent chance. We

:06:33.:06:37.

are in good shape. Let's hear how delighted Dom was after the match.

:06:38.:06:44.

You're the man who had to serve it out and a first Davis Cup win for

:06:45.:06:50.

you. That must be a special feeling. You'd better believe it! I was

:06:51.:06:55.

saying to the guys, it is great to feel you finally have come out here

:06:56.:07:00.

and put a rubber in for the team and serving it out was a bit

:07:01.:07:05.

nerve-wracking, but with the likes of Jamie there, you know when you

:07:06.:07:09.

might miss the serve he will help you. And he did. He deserves a lot

:07:10.:07:15.

of dedit. We were talking there needed to be a captain on the team

:07:16.:07:19.

and Dom did rely on Jamie's experience. Definitely. In Smith The

:07:20.:07:29.

An experienced -- they have an experienced captain. That point

:07:30.:07:34.

about Inglot having been part of team and it is one thing for

:07:35.:07:39.

somebody to say he's good team member, but the difference from now

:07:40.:07:43.

winning a match is massive. He sounded quite happy. You had better

:07:44.:07:48.

believe it! Also for Jamie, so pleased for him, so often he relies

:07:49.:07:53.

on Andy, here he had to take the lead role on court. Probably proved

:07:54.:07:57.

a lot to himself. He did well, he has been No 1 in the world and there

:07:58.:08:01.

is a difference swagger about him now. He always had a lot of

:08:02.:08:06.

confidence, but to be No 1 in the world and win a Grand Slam, he looks

:08:07.:08:10.

like he is the authority. And even when he plays with Andy, you would

:08:11.:08:15.

think Andy would be the boss, but Jamie gives as good as he gets and

:08:16.:08:19.

feels on the doubles court that is his world and he is the boss. That

:08:20.:08:24.

victory means just one win from going through to the semi-finals.

:08:25.:08:30.

Let's hear what Lyon Smith thinks about that. It is always good to go

:08:31.:08:37.

2-1 up. Rather than if you're 2-1 down you know how much pressure it

:08:38.:08:43.

is to win that first match. It is still in the balance. We have been

:08:44.:08:49.

2-1 up and we have had Andy Murray to go out. We have our up and coming

:08:50.:08:56.

player in Kyle, who is terrific, he was terrific against Janko

:08:57.:09:01.

Tipsarevic. He will have a different challenge with Dusan Lajovic.

:09:02.:09:05.

Similar rankings. Both I think favouring clay-court and both

:09:06.:09:10.

looking in good shape. So I'm sure, I can't say for sure, but I think

:09:11.:09:17.

Dusan Lajovic not a lot of Davis Cup experience. How do you think Kyle

:09:18.:09:22.

has settled into his role as Britain's No 1 here and do you feel

:09:23.:09:27.

that he believes that he can win the tie for Great Britain from the

:09:28.:09:32.

front? He has been really good. In the way he has gone about not just

:09:33.:09:39.

this week, but Davis Cup how he is approaching life, to being a tour

:09:40.:09:44.

player and moving in the rankings. He works hard, every practice

:09:45.:09:48.

session he is giving it high intensity and always wanting a bit

:09:49.:09:51.

more. We have seen that more and more. He is looking for things. To

:09:52.:09:59.

improve his game. And you know it is a big moment for tomorrow to be able

:10:00.:10:04.

potentially go out and seal victory for us. Where he is good, he doesn't

:10:05.:10:12.

get too far ahead of himself. He is methodical in his approach. The same

:10:13.:10:17.

thing, routines. He is pretty straight down the line that way. It

:10:18.:10:21.

is brilliant. It is what you want. And he should be confident, because

:10:22.:10:25.

he is playing well. He has a tough opponent tomorrow, who I thought was

:10:26.:10:29.

impressive today and he has been impressive when I have watched him.

:10:30.:10:34.

And if that doesn't plan out, we have another crack at it. Yes, the

:10:35.:10:39.

captain's role is not easy, you have done it, John, away ties

:10:40.:10:43.

particularly. No they're not easy and for Leon this is a big test. We

:10:44.:10:49.

had that great convict against Russia -- victory against Russia

:10:50.:10:54.

without Andy. If we can get through this match it shows how our other

:10:55.:10:58.

players are improving. If Kyle can come through this or James Ward if

:10:59.:11:02.

necessary, that is a big boost to the team to know even if Andy

:11:03.:11:07.

doesn't play we have a world group team and deservedly so. Away matches

:11:08.:11:13.

are tough. This will be a very good victory if we can pull it out.

:11:14.:11:17.

Looking at Leon's record from eight years ago when we were bottom of

:11:18.:11:23.

Euro/African zone, he has achieved a lot. Yes, you go back to the start

:11:24.:11:28.

where you would give him the most credit. He was clear as to what he

:11:29.:11:34.

wanted to kind of set out his philosophy, his strategy of the team

:11:35.:11:37.

and he spent a lot of time making sure everybody involved whether

:11:38.:11:40.

players or staff that they were going to buy into that. It is

:11:41.:11:43.

interesting looking at the whole team and not just Leon this year,

:11:44.:11:47.

this is the third year in a row they have been in the world group, last

:11:48.:11:53.

year winning it, when you saw the way the draw was shaping up, it

:11:54.:11:57.

looked like we have a chance of winning this, Andy Murray is

:11:58.:11:59.

committed. This year, because it is a bit like if you think back to when

:12:00.:12:04.

Andy Murray was first in a Grand Slam time, it is all new and takes

:12:05.:12:10.

up a lot of energy. Now he is so experienced at it and there is a bit

:12:11.:12:14.

of feeling within the team that this is a quarter-finals of Davis Cup and

:12:15.:12:19.

it is a big tie, but I think they're used to dealing with it. Yes and

:12:20.:12:25.

coping well. Let's hope that the weather holds, that has been key for

:12:26.:12:29.

us over the past two days. I seem to think there is a few umbrellas

:12:30.:12:39.

around. What is the weather like, Russell. It is Mizel, as Jamie would

:12:40.:12:46.

say. It is misty rain being blown around by the wind into your face,

:12:47.:12:51.

rather than on to the court. So at the moment there will be no

:12:52.:12:56.

hesitation in starting on time. The court has been prepared. Jake

:12:57.:13:02.

Garner, the umpire, has been inspecting the court and we are

:13:03.:13:05.

waiting for the players. I think there is a good chance we will get

:13:06.:13:11.

some interruptions, but not like Friday where we knew there was a

:13:12.:13:16.

belt of heavy rain. We will be rucky, considering -- lucky,

:13:17.:13:20.

considering you can keep playing in light rain, if we don't get any

:13:21.:13:25.

interruptions. There has been criticism about the court, people

:13:26.:13:28.

saying it is a heavy court. It has not xom out of it well. No, I think

:13:29.:13:35.

even though the team were happy with the before the first match, its was

:13:36.:13:41.

difficult for James Ward to play on on Saturday after that rain, the

:13:42.:13:45.

covers were on, but it was a pudding of a court and it didn't help him.

:13:46.:13:50.

When the sun came out yesterday, then it was playing better again for

:13:51.:13:53.

the doubles. Although they did have to do a few running repairing at one

:13:54.:14:02.

point break off mid game. It is one area Naseems -- that seems

:14:03.:14:07.

particularly affected. I still think generally given it is a drop in

:14:08.:14:12.

court and we remember the court in the Naples two years ago, that

:14:13.:14:17.

wasn't up to scratch, I think generally given the circumstances,

:14:18.:14:20.

the British team have some positive things to say about the surface. I

:14:21.:14:25.

don't know if you heard from Jamie, but he said he couldn't see the ball

:14:26.:14:32.

toss. Has there been talk of that? No, I didn't hear him say that. The

:14:33.:14:37.

viewing in this ground if you're throwing up a ball, there are some

:14:38.:14:43.

red executive boxing either end and that might blend in perhaps with the

:14:44.:14:48.

colour of the clay. I'm not sure, I can't think of any reason why that

:14:49.:14:52.

should be an issue after you have seen it is a concrete bowl with

:14:53.:14:57.

spectators around. The noise is being made by the British fans. Not

:14:58.:15:02.

a great turn out from Serbia. We reckon there are about 300 British

:15:03.:15:08.

fans and they're 25% of crowd, but making 50% of the noise! Thank you.

:15:09.:15:14.

You spoke, you have been hearing from Jamie Murray, he was

:15:15.:15:18.

distracted. We saw him pointing at them. We weren't sure what it was.

:15:19.:15:23.

There is some blue windows and because of the light colour of the

:15:24.:15:32.

rock he said when the sun was bright he couldn't, he was losing the ball

:15:33.:15:36.

when the guy was throwing up to serve. A lot of that was in the

:15:37.:15:41.

third set when there was a lot of tension. When things start affecting

:15:42.:15:47.

you more! It has been disappointing as far as the turn out for Serbia,

:15:48.:15:53.

but for all of the fans from Britain they sat through the rain and it

:15:54.:15:58.

felt like a home match. Exactly. For Kyle Edmund on the first day, you

:15:59.:16:03.

think of when you go to Serbia, you're going to go out into this

:16:04.:16:08.

lion's den and have the crowd going crazy, he must have thought, I have

:16:09.:16:11.

woken up on the wrong side of the bed! It sounded like a home tie and

:16:12.:16:16.

it has been tremendous for the British team to have this support

:16:17.:16:20.

away from home and talk about loyal fans. They go every where. They will

:16:21.:16:29.

be singing for this young man today and be singing after every point and

:16:30.:16:33.

supporting the captain Leon Smith. It was interesting what he said

:16:34.:16:37.

about Kyle and how relaxed he is over there. Because it is a big day

:16:38.:16:42.

for him. Representing your country is more than playing for yourself.

:16:43.:16:49.

That was interesting, Kyle, one of Kyle's strong attributes, is he

:16:50.:16:52.

doesn't get too excited one way or the other. We can talk about him

:16:53.:16:56.

leading the team and how big a match it is, he comes into the weekend and

:16:57.:17:00.

he knew he would have to be playing two big singles matches and all he

:17:01.:17:06.

focussed on is how he can win those matches. I'm pleased the players are

:17:07.:17:14.

on, although the brollies are up. We are ready for Edmund against Dusan

:17:15.:17:18.

Lajovic. Two players who have impressed so far in this tie. A

:17:19.:17:23.

great start for Great Britain. That is a piece of physical strength. He

:17:24.:17:31.

has done it. He has done it in style. That is a very brisk first

:17:32.:17:40.

set for Dusan Lajovic. He has played well. Dusan Lajovic is a fine

:17:41.:17:51.

player. He has got the skills, I'm sure you will agree. Let's not

:17:52.:17:58.

underestimate Dusan Lajovic. But Kyle has Leon Smith out there, Andy

:17:59.:18:03.

Murray is behind the captain and Kyle relies on Andy and he has gone

:18:04.:18:09.

to stay with him in Miami and trusts Andy and talks about his preparation

:18:10.:18:16.

and they have become close. If you can do that on the circuit when

:18:17.:18:20.

you're playing, hang around with the winners, it is one of the most

:18:21.:18:24.

important things you can do. Hang around, listen to what they say, see

:18:25.:18:30.

what their mind set is before matches and Kyle is fortunate that

:18:31.:18:34.

they can hang out with Andy, whether at his training base or at Davis Cup

:18:35.:18:41.

matches, take from these matches, learn what the champions do. And to

:18:42.:18:45.

have Andy in this group here right, almost on the court with you and

:18:46.:18:50.

sort of shouting and instructions, how good is that? And Kyle against

:18:51.:18:57.

Janko Tipsarevic, although maybe Janko Tipsarevic was below par, he

:18:58.:19:02.

produced some magnificent tennis. Yes we had a good display of how his

:19:03.:19:09.

weaponry, his first serve and his forehand, we thought it would be a

:19:10.:19:15.

question of how well he could use the forehand in the wet conditions.

:19:16.:19:20.

He was extremely good and probably more impressive in those conditions

:19:21.:19:24.

how easy is to it lose your way a bit and he just didn't at all. I

:19:25.:19:29.

think there was one moment at 3-3 in the second set where Janko

:19:30.:19:35.

Tipsarevic broke back and you thought the match might change. But

:19:36.:19:41.

Kyle broke him straight back. He has got the weapons. We have always seen

:19:42.:19:47.

that and worried about his stamina, because of the nerves against

:19:48.:19:55.

Goffin. He has improved. Yes the backhand, we focus on, we focussed

:19:56.:20:00.

on forehand, but his backhand in the first match was very good and he hit

:20:01.:20:07.

a couple of big ones. But his forehand, his footwork getting into

:20:08.:20:10.

the back corner where he dictates the play. He can go down the line.

:20:11.:20:17.

The fascinating battle will between the forehand to the Dusan Lajovic

:20:18.:20:23.

backhand. But look at the pressure on this man. If he loses, it is

:20:24.:20:27.

over. At least Britain have another chance. This is a big match for him.

:20:28.:20:35.

He hasn't been in this position, because he has had Novak Djokovic

:20:36.:20:38.

and Viktor Troicki and Janko Tipsarevic. Yes he said on yesterday

:20:39.:20:45.

morning when he came on to court it was the first time he had come on

:20:46.:20:50.

1-0 down. He had always had that leeway of being one rubber up. He

:20:51.:21:01.

looked very good. It was similar to the Edmund match, Janko Tipsarevic

:21:02.:21:05.

wasn't up to standard. Ward had a poor day. But Dusan Lajovic is very

:21:06.:21:12.

comfortable on the clay. He can hit with different flight and angles and

:21:13.:21:16.

that is one thing that Kyle will have to counter act today, because a

:21:17.:21:21.

lot of his forehand attack would be going into that wing. The beautiful

:21:22.:21:26.

backhand he had James going all over the place. And the thing that was

:21:27.:21:32.

good, his length. That height, that natural height he gets, a good

:21:33.:21:39.

clay-courters do. Janko Tipsarevic was hitting short against Edmund and

:21:40.:21:42.

allowed Kyle to get around to hit the forehand. In this match he won't

:21:43.:21:47.

have as much time. He will have to pick his times, he can't be over

:21:48.:21:52.

aggressive. Because he will take too many chances. It is a sort of a

:21:53.:21:57.

finely balanced tactical plan. When you have gone Leon as the captain

:21:58.:22:01.

and Andy in the background, they will figure it out. They may have to

:22:02.:22:05.

change game plans during the match and may not just be one way of

:22:06.:22:10.

playing. Andy will have a plan. He is a great tactician. He will give

:22:11.:22:17.

Kyle a lot of advice. Yes definitely he will, he has an eagle eye, he

:22:18.:22:22.

will see anything. For Dusan Lajovic, he will be looking to take

:22:23.:22:27.

that backhand up the line early in the point so he can unsettle Kyle's

:22:28.:22:32.

position on the court and get him moving to that forehand side

:22:33.:22:35.

earlier. If he is doing that, where the eye of Andy Murray you will say,

:22:36.:22:41.

have you got one or two solutions to stop him? It is another heavy day,

:22:42.:22:47.

but Kyle proved on Friday he enjoys this and he will be trying to hit

:22:48.:22:53.

Dusan Lajovic off the court. Jamie and John thank you. You're on your

:22:54.:22:58.

way to commentary box. All your's Jonathan. COMMENTATOR: Welcome to

:22:59.:23:08.

day three of this Davis Cup tie. It was quite a thing when Britain won

:23:09.:23:15.

the Davis Cup last year, breaking a 79 year wait in Belgium. Looking

:23:16.:23:24.

back over recent results when Murray hasn't been in the team, there was a

:23:25.:23:29.

terrific win in Coventry against Russia in 2013. James Ward playing

:23:30.:23:35.

his part. Dan Evans too. But that wasn't in the world group. This one

:23:36.:23:40.

a huge win for Great Britain if they can seal the tie here without Andy

:23:41.:23:46.

Murray in the elite world group, the Premier League if you like. Last

:23:47.:23:55.

time Britain won a world group tie without Andy Murray was 1986, Tim

:23:56.:24:06.

Henman and Greg Rusedsk never got a world group win. Win has never won a

:24:07.:24:13.

world group match without its No 1 player. The world group introduced

:24:14.:24:19.

in 1981. In all that time, either we have been in different divisions,

:24:20.:24:23.

been losing in the world group or we have been winning in the world group

:24:24.:24:29.

with our No 1. So this is a historical moment and a big chance

:24:30.:24:39.

for the British No 2, Kyle Edmund. Fantastic for on day one. But this a

:24:40.:24:44.

huge chance for him. The opportunity of his life.

:24:45.:25:11.

Dusan Lajovic to the right, Serbia's No 1 for this tie. Thichs This is

:25:12.:25:21.

the battle of No 1 players. Had Murray and Djokovic been here, that

:25:22.:25:24.

would have been the world No 1 and the world No 2. It was lovely for a

:25:25.:25:30.

few months to think that might have happened. But it is not the case.

:25:31.:25:40.

The Djokovic family represented by his father. No doubt we will get a

:25:41.:25:47.

glimpse of him again. Kyle Edmund's parents are here to cheer on their

:25:48.:25:52.

son and here is Edmund starting rubber 4.

:25:53.:27:22.

If you didn't have a chance to see Edmund play on Friday, look out for

:27:23.:27:35.

his big serve and that big forehand that has helped him up the rankings

:27:36.:27:41.

to 67. And there we go - right on cue, the perfect demonstration of

:27:42.:27:43.

those two major assets. Double fault, but no concerns,

:27:44.:28:11.

Jamie, that was a confident service hold by the British No 1? Yes, it

:28:12.:28:19.

looked very comfortable. Good to see him opening his shoulders on a

:28:20.:28:22.

couple of forehands. Especially on the clay, it is such a nice feeling

:28:23.:28:32.

to have a comfortable hold. An impressive start from Kyle Edmund. I

:28:33.:28:40.

think those British fans have been put through their paces by Matt

:28:41.:28:45.

Little the strength and conditioning coach, I hope so, over Breck fans,

:28:46.:28:51.

if -- breakfast, if they're going to dance all the time it will be an

:28:52.:28:56.

exhausting effort from them, let alone the players!

:28:57.:29:11.

Look out with this man Dusan Lajovic for his single-handed backhand. He

:29:12.:29:20.

created so many opens against James War.

:29:21.:29:49.

Hello John. I like the way how early he is taking the ball on the rise,

:29:50.:29:58.

right on the baseline, not allowing that high bounce that Lajovic uses.

:29:59.:30:02.

Kyle just snuffing that out. Court repairs after eight points

:30:03.:30:54.

never a good sign. Hopefully, this clay-court, which has seen a lot of

:30:55.:30:58.

rain over the last three or four days, will stand up to the test.

:30:59.:31:27.

The forecast is for a few potential showers today, but nothing like the

:31:28.:31:35.

heavy rain of Friday. A huge shame, especially for the spectators

:31:36.:31:39.

because it was 40-degree heat midweek last week and coming up this

:31:40.:31:43.

week it is going to be sweltering as well.

:31:44.:31:53.

As you can see around the court, lots of long sleeves, coats and

:31:54.:31:59.

sweaters, and blankets, and everyone is huddled up, wrapped up. It's not

:32:00.:32:09.

the Mediterranean summer, is it? Well, 1-1. Both players working each

:32:10.:32:14.

other out in the early stages. A little bit of a better crowd than

:32:15.:32:18.

Saturday or Sunday, but still a shame to see empty spaces around

:32:19.:32:22.

this extraordinary Tasmajdan Stadium.

:32:23.:33:10.

That's lovely work from Edmund. Just more of the same. Picking up from

:33:11.:33:18.

where he left on Friday, Jamie. You can see straightaway the power and

:33:19.:33:23.

the damage that that Edmund forehand can do to Lajovic. I don't think in

:33:24.:33:29.

the home match did we see him looking anywhere near that level of

:33:30.:33:33.

discomfort. It is just an extra bit of pace on that ball from Edmund.

:33:34.:34:49.

that is going to do the damage for Edmund and potentially win this for

:34:50.:35:15.

Britain. It is something that James Ward yesterday failed to do, pierce

:35:16.:35:21.

those Lajovic defences. It's a totally different ball flight that

:35:22.:35:25.

he has. Lajovic hit a good forehand on that last point, nice and high,

:35:26.:35:29.

and he would think, I'm back into neutral position on the court, and

:35:30.:35:33.

what does Kyle Edmund do? He takes it on the rise and slaps a winner

:35:34.:35:38.

cross-court. He is sending out a message here that, basically,

:35:39.:35:41.

anything in my hitting area, if it is not deep, this is the sort of

:35:42.:35:45.

pressure I will put on you. That sends a big message - I know it is

:35:46.:35:49.

early days - but right away, I would be surprised if Lajovic was

:35:50.:35:53.

expecting, even though he saw the other match, it is different

:35:54.:35:56.

watching someone than actually playing and feeling the force of the

:35:57.:36:00.

blows coming at you and I think right now he will be thinking, I

:36:01.:36:05.

will have to play well here. Very impressive start. The big question

:36:06.:36:11.

is, can you keep this up for three to four hours? That is what Lajovic

:36:12.:36:16.

will be thinking. Try and do this for three or four hours against me!

:36:17.:36:20.

Can he stay in the rallies long enough to keep him pinned back

:36:21.:36:24.

there? That is the question. There are those windows you were referring

:36:25.:36:30.

to, Jamie, that Jamie Murray had a problem with yesterday. When you are

:36:31.:36:33.

down at court level, you are looking up at that, when you are following

:36:34.:36:37.

the flight of someone's serve? It was also the rock to the left of

:36:38.:36:41.

that. You had the massive glare off the window and then that

:36:42.:36:43.

light-coloured rock to the left. I don't think we will have any

:36:44.:36:53.

problems with glare off the sun today, though! It's gone back to

:36:54.:36:59.

Friday, very heavy conditions, blustery, as you can see. Damp, not

:37:00.:37:04.

particularly pleasant for the spectators who are sitting on these

:37:05.:37:06.

concrete steps all around. Again, the weight of the shot, this

:37:07.:38:10.

time from very deep in the court, that wasn't the Kyle Edmund stepping

:38:11.:38:13.

inside the baseline, dictating with his forehand. Look here from a

:38:14.:38:18.

defensive position, to get that through the court... Exactly what I

:38:19.:38:24.

was saying. Lajovic would have thought, I'm ahead in this rally and

:38:25.:38:29.

a forehand comes back at him like this. That is a bit scary.

:38:30.:38:39.

That's gone wide as well. It is worrying and scary for Serbia, but

:38:40.:38:47.

quite exciting scary for us. Exactly. He has started this match

:38:48.:38:51.

really well. That attempted drop shot from Lajovic, not only was it

:38:52.:38:57.

wide, it was passed the service line so an indication he hasn't settled

:38:58.:39:01.

into this match but Edmund has bt let him. -- hasn't let him. A bit of

:39:02.:39:08.

rain falling, but this is break-point to Kyle Edmund and Great

:39:09.:39:10.

Britain. That was a brave move, approaching

:39:11.:39:30.

into the Edmund forehand, after what has happened the last couple of

:39:31.:39:31.

points. He is going to want to stay up tight

:39:32.:40:44.

to the baseline as much as possible, Kyle Edmund, in this. It is

:40:45.:40:47.

something that the British coaches have been working on building up to

:40:48.:40:52.

the tie. They want their players to not be pushed back if at all

:40:53.:40:54.

possible. We might see a few of those

:40:55.:41:02.

mis-hits. Very interesting start to this match. 2-2, first set.

:41:03.:41:17.

He's calling for the umpire to get someone out to fix the court up

:41:18.:41:25.

already. Just passed the baseline. That is the problem area. They have

:41:26.:41:33.

these little craters that get involved on the court and if you put

:41:34.:41:37.

your foot in there when you are running, you are going to be in

:41:38.:41:41.

trouble. That is where you can do some serious problem with an ankle.

:41:42.:41:47.

The answer is, don't stand that far back! This can only ever be a

:41:48.:41:53.

temporary fix as well. Of course. What can they do? They stamp it down

:41:54.:41:58.

a bit. As soon as the players... They are so strong, they dig their

:41:59.:42:02.

feet in, if it is unsettled like that, it will just churn up again.

:42:03.:42:05.

It is only a matter of time. A very late call from the baseline

:42:06.:42:34.

judge. He did finally make it and extend his arm. The umpire

:42:35.:42:39.

confirming it. I don't think he wanted to get off his chair again!

:42:40.:43:45.

He did everything right in the rally apart from execute that final shot.

:43:46.:44:01.

I don't think the British captain will mind that. He is showing he can

:44:02.:44:08.

run Lajovic around. Dictating as much as possible.

:44:09.:44:35.

Lovely conditions out there(!) It is windy. There's rain in your face.

:44:36.:44:51.

There may have to be a conversation soon. The Serbian captain looks to

:44:52.:44:57.

be having a word with the umpire now. What is interesting about this.

:44:58.:45:01.

Kyle Edmund played through the rain in his match on day one. Just look

:45:02.:45:09.

at that. That is not much fun. Summer? Hello! Lajovic had his match

:45:10.:45:15.

called off because of the late finish on Friday. Came back and

:45:16.:45:18.

played yesterday in much nicer conditions. So it is Edmund who has

:45:19.:45:29.

the experience of these heavier, wetter, dirtier... You have to get

:45:30.:45:33.

on with it. He's got no choice. It really is so bad out there. It's the

:45:34.:45:44.

speed of the court that he has said has helped him. It gives him a bit

:45:45.:45:50.

more time to get round into this backhand corner. It gives him more

:45:51.:45:55.

time to wind up on that forehand. If somebody takes away the ability for

:45:56.:45:59.

someone to hit flat into his backhand, they can pin him in that

:46:00.:46:05.

corner. This is quarterfinal of the Davis Cup, Britain in defence of the

:46:06.:46:08.

trophy they won last year. The winners of this tie will play either

:46:09.:46:12.

Italy or Argentina in the semifinals. If that is Britain, it

:46:13.:46:18.

will be at home in September. Argentina are 2-1 up in the tie as

:46:19.:46:25.

things stand after winning the doubles yesterday. Fognini has won

:46:26.:46:38.

the third. Two sets to one as things stand.

:46:39.:46:48.

One set all between France and the Czech Republic. Later, it is the USA

:46:49.:47:05.

against Croatia. That semifinal will almost certainly be indoors later in

:47:06.:47:08.

the year. We have played home ties in September at Wimbledon before.

:47:09.:47:13.

Yes, risky, but I would think with the amount of bad weather we have

:47:14.:47:19.

had so far, maybe we can go out on grass. But I would imagine that

:47:20.:47:22.

would be an indoor match if we win this one. Plenty of tennis to be

:47:23.:47:28.

played before then. This is the fourth rubber of the tie, Britain

:47:29.:47:33.

2-1 up, needing one more match win to move into the semifinals. A

:47:34.:47:41.

confident start from Edmund, closer to the camera, 3-2.

:47:42.:48:04.

That is where Kyle Edmund, against Tipsarevic, that type of forehand

:48:05.:48:14.

didn't come back, but that one came back with interest from Lajovic.

:48:15.:48:15.

This man gets a lot of balls back. Well played. Really well played. The

:48:16.:49:12.

angle that he is able to create with that forehand, John, it's creating

:49:13.:49:16.

so many opportunities. He has that ability from a neutral position,

:49:17.:49:19.

opening up the court. It is a ferocious forehand.

:49:20.:50:23.

That is a good example of Lajovic targeting the Edmund forehand. If he

:50:24.:50:37.

can go in early, early in the point, to the Edmund forehand.

:50:38.:50:52.

I think Edmund isn't sure that that... It is out. It looked a bit

:50:53.:51:03.

I think Edmund isn't sure that unsure.

:51:04.:51:26.

Just pushing beyond the baseline that... It

:51:27.:51:52.

Just pushing beyond the baseline there and it gives Edmund another

:51:53.:51:54.

break-point. Second game in a row. Early stages in this best of

:51:55.:52:34.

five-set Davis Cup match. This looks promising. There's Janko Tipsarevic,

:52:35.:52:40.

who lost to Edmund on the first day of this tie.

:52:41.:52:55.

This is a man who only made his Davis Cup debut at the end of last

:52:56.:53:04.

year, in the final, in Belgium, acquitted himself really well, for

:53:05.:53:08.

two sets especially. Stormed into the lead against David Goffin.

:53:09.:54:17.

It's a far more erratic Dusan Lajovic than we saw yesterday. To

:54:18.:54:28.

Kyle Edmund's credit... Game points for a 5-2 lead first set.

:54:29.:55:19.

Nasty to come through in all sorts of

:55:20.:55:34.

Nasty Edmund, this is the future for

:55:35.:55:40.

Nasty Murray stays around for many years

:55:41.:55:41.

leading Murray stays around for many years

:55:42.:55:47.

So far, all you can say is, it is Murray stays around for many years

:55:48.:56:07.

to get to Edmund, to get through Murray stays around for many years

:56:08.:56:14.

Edmund looks so confident out there, even on

:56:15.:56:19.

Edmund looks so confident out there, forehand, but how many errors has he

:56:20.:56:19.

made off forehand, but how many errors has he

:56:20.:56:25.

the line back to Lajovic's forehand, to get

:56:26.:56:33.

Andy Murray, Kyle Edmund, Jamie start by

:56:34.:56:47.

Unless something goes very wrong for Murray, Dom

:56:48.:57:04.

Unless something goes very wrong for Murray over

:57:05.:58:20.

It's taken him a little while to get going. Look at that, front-foot

:58:21.:58:28.

cover drive. Beautiful. Still leading by a break. It gives

:58:29.:58:41.

Kyle Edmund the chance to serve for the first set.

:58:42.:59:29.

That's so impressive. Misses a forehand, snatched at it, and that

:59:30.:59:41.

one was deeper than the one he missed on the first point, then had

:59:42.:59:44.

the courage to go for it. No doubt in his mind he was going to hit a

:59:45.:59:46.

winner from that position. That is going to be the worrying

:59:47.:00:15.

thing for Lajovic, that looked like that change of pace what is worked

:00:16.:00:20.

so well against James Ward, if he doesn't get great length, he is

:00:21.:00:23.

going to get killed by the Edmund forehand. Oh! Twice in a row on

:00:24.:00:32.

clay! Very decent work from Kyle Edmund to close out the first set.

:00:33.:00:41.

And Britain edge one set closer to another Davis Cup semi-final. Really

:00:42.:00:50.

good work from Kyle Edmund who, has not looked overawe at all in his

:00:51.:00:59.

Davis Cup career. He steppeded out against Goffin was beating him

:01:00.:01:03.

thoroughly for two sets and the Goffin come back was inevitable. But

:01:04.:01:07.

this is a young man who just looks right at home in this environment.

:01:08.:01:15.

And he made less errors when he gets his first serve n he is winning 93%

:01:16.:01:22.

of the points. Two aces. The winners are a joke. He is absolutely taking

:01:23.:01:27.

apart a good player in a match that you know he needs to win for us to

:01:28.:01:32.

win this tie, because the fifth match certainly is at best 50/50 at

:01:33.:01:35.

best, being generous there. Here are some of the lie hittings of

:01:36.:01:50.

first - lie heights of first accept. He is so adept at sliding into the

:01:51.:01:57.

balls. Every time the players switch surfaces across the year it is a

:01:58.:02:03.

test in its own right. So if you haven't been with us so far on this

:02:04.:02:11.

Davis Cup you will have missed one of the most entertaining moments,

:02:12.:02:20.

these interset highlights created by the people at Serbian television.

:02:21.:02:27.

You notice the dramatic music. Where is our next point coming from. The

:02:28.:02:31.

rising strings, Jamie Baker, will suggest that Britain are firmly in

:02:32.:02:36.

charge and Edmund just needs to keep this up. Yes. He does just need to

:02:37.:02:46.

keep this up. It has been an amazing start. It look like the British team

:02:47.:02:51.

have done their homework well from the start. He has been right up on

:02:52.:02:56.

the baseline not giving Lajovic the opportunity.

:02:57.:03:46.

We can see with the amount of errors he made in the first set, Lajovic,

:03:47.:03:54.

he is having to go out of his comfort zone Maik the Claymore than

:03:55.:04:01.

he normally does. This is so good. Just the weight of

:04:02.:04:36.

shot again. It is just impressive again. It is not getting that ball,

:04:37.:04:43.

OK in terms of where it was, but this one just sits and he has plenty

:04:44.:04:48.

of time, can go either way and that pace on that forehand.

:04:49.:05:03.

It is lovely when you're in a position at the end of the set for

:05:04.:05:09.

Leon Smith, where you don't have to say anything. Just keep on doing

:05:10.:05:12.

what you're doing. Tactically spot on.

:05:13.:06:03.

That is the other thing, seeing Janko Tipsarevic in the background

:06:04.:06:09.

watching this match. That shows there is a decent chance that if

:06:10.:06:14.

Serbia wins, he may not play the last rubber. Generally if you're

:06:15.:06:19.

playing in the fifth match, you may stick around for a few games and

:06:20.:06:24.

then you rest. That to me indicates there might be a change in the fifth

:06:25.:06:32.

match. Not the best preparations sitting out in the rain and the

:06:33.:06:36.

cold, is it? He had a pint of something yesterday! It was a new

:06:37.:06:50.

training method! No sign of James Ward either at courtside. There is a

:06:51.:06:53.

man who is going to be willing Kyle Edmund on as well. I do not think

:06:54.:06:59.

Ward wants to come out again and play on this court. He didn't enjoy

:07:00.:07:03.

the experience of yesterday. Found it very heavy. Not to his liking at

:07:04.:07:06.

I think all.

:07:07.:08:06.

Again the weight of shot from the forehand down the line

:08:07.:08:37.

Again the weight of shot from the back of the court - do not

:08:38.:08:44.

underestimate how good this is, the timing, the rotation, everything it

:08:45.:08:48.

takes to get that ball to move off this heavy surface and just beat the

:08:49.:08:49.

opponent for pace. What a serve I was thinking back to

:08:50.:09:13.

the French Open where the conditions were sort of similar to this really.

:09:14.:09:18.

Very heavy, a lot of rain. How many people did you see, players that

:09:19.:09:22.

could hit winners from these positions with the heavy balls there

:09:23.:09:26.

- not many that I remember at the French.

:09:27.:09:53.

Such a bonus to have a serve like that, Jamie, that can win you three

:09:54.:10:00.

points, you don't get anywhere near as many free points on this surface

:10:01.:10:04.

as others? Specially in these conditions. That has been the most

:10:05.:10:10.

surprising element of match so far is how many kind of if not just free

:10:11.:10:16.

points Edmunds has got off his first point, but genuinely short balls

:10:17.:10:20.

where he can properly take advantage on the second shot.

:10:21.:12:12.

There is an interesting ensemble on the second shot.

:12:13.:12:21.

There is an interesting ensemble cushion band. The horns are not

:12:22.:12:42.

There is an interesting ensemble teams get asked what music they want

:12:43.:12:45.

played when they come on. I wonder if the Serbian play verse chosen

:12:46.:12:51.

this -- players have chosen this for the change of ends. There is a hint

:12:52.:12:59.

of Eurovision about it! Well hopefully the weather is nicer

:13:00.:13:03.

wherever you are watching this with us on BBC1 than it is out in

:13:04.:13:09.

Belgrade. If Edmund does get this job done quickly. There might be a

:13:10.:13:12.

chance for you to be inspired and get out there and play a bit of

:13:13.:13:18.

tennis this afternoon. It is the great British tennis weekend where a

:13:19.:13:24.

number of clubs open their doors for free. Check it out online.

:13:25.:13:38.

That to me, you have got to start standing in closer on that service

:13:39.:13:46.

return, particularly on the second serve. That one he is so far back

:13:47.:13:50.

and he hits the ball straight in the middle of the court and right away

:13:51.:13:56.

Edmunds takes Chang of the Ralls -- charge of the rallies.

:13:57.:14:20.

He is a very patient player, Kyle Edmund. Yes, but the way he plays

:14:21.:14:27.

and the way he can hurt opponents, it is very clear what he has to

:14:28.:14:31.

focus on. I think we mentioned about his backhand, that is one of his

:14:32.:14:37.

major areas he has improved. He is so patient on that side. Oh! That

:14:38.:14:50.

was a bit of luck for Lajovic. An example of that, Jaimy, although his

:14:51.:14:59.

backhand is better. Roddick was the same thing, the liability was a

:15:00.:15:03.

backhand if he had to pass, but from the baseline it was consistent.

:15:04.:15:35.

Oh! What a demonstration of the forehand! Five in a row from Kyle

:15:36.:15:43.

Edmund. I was just thinking that as he played them and they were all

:15:44.:15:47.

different. Every single forehand he played was different in that rally.

:15:48.:15:51.

Great variety and look at this final one to finish the job. Wow! The

:15:52.:15:59.

acceleration there, racket head speed is just awesome.

:16:00.:16:18.

That one he forgot to move his feet, Kyle Edmund. You can see, doesn't

:16:19.:16:27.

get out of the way of the ball there and he had plenty of time.

:16:28.:17:05.

This is an indication of state of court, that ball, no bounce at all.

:17:06.:17:18.

Picked up so much clay. He almost needed the pitching wedge for that

:17:19.:17:19.

one. What was Lajovic trying on the

:17:20.:18:09.

return? Was that in my coaching manual you have read? I was looking

:18:10.:18:13.

at that, he shifted to his backhand side and then he took about two

:18:14.:18:19.

steps back. He ended up almost hitting the line judge with his back

:18:20.:18:21.

swing! There is the British support cast.

:18:22.:18:41.

Andy Murray in the middle of your picture seated. The coaches to the

:18:42.:18:48.

left. And Matt Little. The strength and conditioning coach. Cheerleader

:18:49.:18:55.

No 1. One of unsung heroes of Murray's Wimbledon win last Sunday.

:18:56.:19:08.

Was it only a week ago? There is potentially a new British hero here.

:19:09.:19:22.

Great tennis! How well did Edmund do chasing up to the net to put that

:19:23.:19:31.

lob up? It shows how hard it is to put the ball away. The lob could

:19:32.:19:36.

have been better from Lajovic. But what a chase from Edmund. Two bites

:19:37.:19:39.

at the cherry on the smash. That was such a good illustration of

:19:40.:20:11.

the difference between the two, that return, Edmund's return floated and

:20:12.:20:15.

Lajovic, whether he is unwilling or unable to hit the same sort of speed

:20:16.:20:20.

on the forehand. But Edmund had what opportunity and he is hitting

:20:21.:20:21.

winners. Another chance there. I think he

:20:22.:21:24.

thought the ball was going to come to him, because he was there in

:21:25.:21:25.

time. Pity. That is just so good. So good, the

:21:26.:21:57.

one backhand down his line was the one that put him in a good position,

:21:58.:22:02.

where again the difference of speed, even on this backhand side it goes

:22:03.:22:07.

through court so much faster. And that angle he got on that forehand,

:22:08.:22:09.

awesome. A lovely ark on that forehand down

:22:10.:23:14.

the line. He tried that in the previous game, but just missed it.

:23:15.:23:19.

He had a bit of air to kill the ball. His second break point in the

:23:20.:23:21.

game. Lfs a call tr somewhere. -- there

:23:22.:24:11.

was a call from somewhere. That forehand from Edmund was definitely

:24:12.:24:15.

on the line. The line judge said so. There was a call of fault or out

:24:16.:24:19.

from somewhere. We don't know where. But Edmund is clearly going to

:24:20.:24:24.

protest this. You can hear what the crowd think. But that should really,

:24:25.:24:32.

if the umpire heard it, be a let. But it looks like it isn't going to

:24:33.:24:34.

be. The fact he is complaining about it

:24:35.:24:51.

shows how he knows he was put off by hearing that call. I think we all

:24:52.:24:55.

looked around and thought was that called out? I think the umpire will

:24:56.:25:02.

give them a warning if it happens again. I imagine that is what he

:25:03.:25:08.

will do. It is tough to change the point around when it happens the

:25:09.:25:09.

first time. Ladies and gentlemen we can you not

:25:10.:25:28.

to call out during the play in respect to both players. That wasn't

:25:29.:25:34.

strong enough. No. That needs to let them know the next time it happens

:25:35.:25:39.

they might get a point deducted. Exactly. Does that count as an

:25:40.:25:45.

official warning? That was just a public service announcement. It

:25:46.:25:47.

didn't sound like it! He is working hard, Kyle Edmund.

again, Edmund, just giving his opponent no time to recover. I would

:30:10.:30:14.

be surprised if Lajovic doesn't start to bring Kyle Edmunds in a bit

:30:15.:30:19.

with that short backhand angle. He has had a bit of success wit. Try

:30:20.:30:22.

and change it up a bit and change the pattern.

:30:23.:30:34.

The winners of this quarterfinal, I can tell you, will play Argentina in

:30:35.:30:43.

the semifinals. I will give you more details at the end of this game.

:30:44.:30:47.

Argentina have beaten Italy away from home. That will be Murray

:30:48.:30:57.

versus Del Potro. Nice. Edmund was waiting for a call which

:30:58.:31:30.

never came. A rally with some twists and turns

:31:31.:32:13.

there. He had recovered quite well after the initial hesitation of not

:32:14.:32:17.

taking the ball out of the air. It is break-point Serbia for the first

:32:18.:32:21.

time in the match. That point had everything. I was about to say what

:32:22.:32:24.

a great move it was from Edmund to come in. Lajovic managed to get

:32:25.:32:28.

enough height on it to provoke that hesitation.

:32:29.:32:59.

UMPIRE: Out. Good call, umpire. It was out. The

:33:00.:33:06.

line judge was unsighted there by Kyle Edmund, who was moving across.

:33:07.:33:09.

You will see it here. What is so impressive is the pace he

:33:10.:33:26.

can generate from no pace. Really good recovery from Kyle

:33:27.:34:33.

Edmund, from break-point down, three points in a row and he played some

:34:34.:34:38.

excellent tennis to level up at 3-3 in the second set. Serbia-Great

:34:39.:34:43.

Britain, Davis Cup quarterfinal, for the right to play Argentina in the

:34:44.:34:46.

semifinals. Fognini the Italian number one did

:34:47.:34:57.

have set-points to take that to a deciding set. But Argentina are

:34:58.:35:09.

through again. Juan Martin Del Potro only played the doubles in that.

:35:10.:35:14.

Some thought he was being saved for a potential fifth rubber. I'm sure

:35:15.:35:18.

he will play everything in the semis. That is the match-up that we

:35:19.:35:24.

want to see in this competition. What is the point in these big

:35:25.:35:28.

nations meeting if we don't get to see the big players? Of course, that

:35:29.:35:33.

is what it is all about. We want to see the number ones. He's definitely

:35:34.:35:37.

not going to play the fifth match if there is a fifth match, if he is

:35:38.:35:44.

still sitting here watching. That would suggest it will be Filip

:35:45.:35:48.

Krajinovic, who came in for the doubles yesterday. Hasn't played a

:35:49.:35:53.

singles match since losing to Edmund in May, in the Challenger in Rome.

:35:54.:37:34.

Look at the short-arm jab of a return there from Edmund. Setting

:37:35.:37:49.

him up for the point. Taking it early. Surprising Lajovic.

:37:50.:38:13.

Good aggression from Kyle Edmund and he is a break up in the second set.

:38:14.:39:35.

Terrific work. Britain aims for that semifinal, which would be at home to

:39:36.:39:45.

Argentina. That is because in 2008 we headed out to South America, we

:39:46.:39:50.

stocked up on large quantities of Argentinian beef, and we watched an

:39:51.:39:55.

entertaining tie that Jamie Baker you were part of. What were your

:39:56.:39:59.

memories of that last British match against Argentina? It was an amazing

:40:00.:40:04.

experience. The only match I have played in the World Group. It was

:40:05.:40:10.

the first live rubber I have played, opening up against a guy who was not

:40:11.:40:23.

bad, David Nalbandian. That was on clay. Then even though the tie was

:40:24.:40:32.

over, you came out on the final day and won? That was probably one of my

:40:33.:40:37.

best wins. That is the only home match he lost on clay. Not sure he

:40:38.:40:43.

would be proud of that one. I can't call myself a clay-court specialist!

:40:44.:40:48.

That was interesting. Andy Murray had stayed at home. He decided not

:40:49.:40:55.

to travel. It was a time when Andy and Jamie were not as good buddies

:40:56.:41:05.

as they are now. Jamie Murray you are talking about? Yes. I don't

:41:06.:41:10.

think Jamie Murray was the greatest fan of Andy's decision to miss that

:41:11.:41:12.

tie. Water under the bridge now. When you watch this, any sort of

:41:13.:41:43.

neutral ball from Lajovic is getting punished. He is not used to playing

:41:44.:41:49.

people like that. He manoeuvres the ball around. If he is not very

:41:50.:41:53.

precise with his first return, the point is almost over.

:41:54.:42:05.

He tried to hit extra spin on that backhand, get it as deep as he

:42:06.:42:12.

could, went to the backhand of Edmund and Edmund still hit a big

:42:13.:42:14.

shot and got him in trouble again. That was right on the line from

:42:15.:43:29.

Lajovic. He still believes. You can see it.

:43:30.:44:35.

Kyle Edmund has faced one break-point and he hasn't lost his

:44:36.:44:41.

serve yet. In these conditions, where return could have more of an

:44:42.:44:46.

upper hand, that is really impressive. Very impressive. I was

:44:47.:44:51.

studying what Lajovic was doing on that return and it was too

:44:52.:44:56.

predictable. Kyle knows he's not... He is going to stay far behind the

:44:57.:45:00.

baseline on the second-serve return and he knows he gets a shot off that

:45:01.:45:02.

first ball. It is a showreel from Kyle Edmund!

:45:03.:48:19.

What a point this was. So patient. This type of shot, where he was in

:48:20.:48:23.

big trouble there, being pushed out that wide, and then that ferocious

:48:24.:48:26.

pace. What a forehand! So close.

:48:27.:48:49.

There's Jamie Murray. Played his part yesterday alongside Dom Inglot.

:48:50.:48:54.

Great for him to get a win on the board in his Davis Cup career. Who

:48:55.:48:58.

is he? Well played again. Stepping up the

:48:59.:49:13.

court, it is good to see. This is what you do when you sense a man is

:49:14.:49:19.

down. It is uninhibited hitting from Edmund on the forehand wing. That is

:49:20.:49:23.

what is so impressive. You can't swing your racket that fast if you

:49:24.:49:26.

are not that relaxed. Lajovic did well there. He was in

:49:27.:50:06.

big trouble. He came up with a couple of fantastic defensive shots.

:50:07.:50:11.

Edmund went for a bit too much on that last ball. I thought he had it

:50:12.:50:16.

won on that forehand, but this was excellent recovery.

:50:17.:51:05.

A very good job from Lajovic to extend this set. Edmund is a break

:51:06.:51:11.

up and has a chance to serve for a two sets to love lead, right now,

:51:12.:51:18.

after this change of ends. Again, we talk about the obvious assets that

:51:19.:51:22.

he possesses, the serve, the forehand, it is a solid backhand.

:51:23.:51:27.

There is also the variety. We saw a couple of times in that game, he is

:51:28.:51:31.

not afraid to go with the slice as an aggressive weapon as well as a

:51:32.:51:36.

defensive tool. This is why he plays better and enjoys playing on the

:51:37.:51:40.

clay more because the clay gives him more time to use that variety. We

:51:41.:51:44.

have seen he's defended his forehand corner so well in this match. It is

:51:45.:51:48.

because he can hit different paces, different spins, his slice in the

:51:49.:51:52.

last couple of games particularly, that is as well as I have seen him

:51:53.:51:57.

hit. So very impressive. On the point of a quicker court, he doesn't

:51:58.:52:03.

get the time to use that variety and that is where his movement, which on

:52:04.:52:08.

faster courts is not as good as the rest of his game, can get exposed.

:52:09.:52:15.

Not every young British player over the years has enjoyed the clay-court

:52:16.:52:19.

experience? No. It's not been a surface that we have been

:52:20.:52:22.

particularly good at. Does that bode well? It bodes extremely well. Andy

:52:23.:52:30.

Murray loves it now as well. This is such an impressive... These are the

:52:31.:52:34.

games I look forward to watching, a pressure game like this. How is he

:52:35.:52:36.

going to react here? That's tremendous play. He was put

:52:37.:53:05.

under a lot of pressure in that rally. He looks so solid from the

:53:06.:53:10.

back of the court. The thing now is, when you watch him, you expect him

:53:11.:53:16.

to hit a winner, or an almost unreturnable. He has that look about

:53:17.:53:21.

him. Lajovic, at the moment, he can't find a way to get through to

:53:22.:53:25.

the British player. He's been pegged back all the time.

:53:26.:53:38.

He is making those short balls look easy. In these conditions, they are

:53:39.:53:47.

anything but easy. Lajovic has given that, which is good sportsmanship.

:53:48.:53:51.

The umpire didn't need to make the journey over. Leon Smith thanking

:53:52.:53:56.

him for that. Two points away from the set.

:53:57.:55:11.

That mis-hit backhand return brings up two set-points for Kyle Edmund,

:55:12.:55:18.

from Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

:55:19.:55:18.

UMPIRE: Let, first serve. All the time you look for clues in a

:55:19.:55:54.

young player's development and again there on set-point, not disturbed at

:55:55.:56:00.

all by that let call, firing down the serve that wins it. 1 hour 28

:56:01.:56:06.

minutes and that scoreboard makes very good reading from a British

:56:07.:56:10.

point of view. It means Britain are just one set away now from a place

:56:11.:56:18.

in the semifinals of the Davis Cup. It's a fantastic performance so far.

:56:19.:56:25.

It's outstanding. He's taken the game to the Serbian number three.

:56:26.:56:30.

And looking at those first two sets, the only thing really that can

:56:31.:56:33.

happen here is if the physicality comes into it, if somehow Lajovic

:56:34.:56:38.

manages to get back in this match. I don't think that will be a problem.

:56:39.:56:43.

He doesn't have, at the moment, the game to hurt Kyle Edmund. I can't

:56:44.:56:47.

see where the points are going to come from. We hope this latest

:56:48.:57:05.

edition of the highlights reel features more Kyle Edmund than Dusan

:57:06.:57:08.

Lajovic. That open-stance forehand... Don't worry about the

:57:09.:57:15.

prowess of the drumming, but that forehand shot from Edmund is the

:57:16.:57:19.

outstanding shot of the weekend so far. I hope no-one suffers from

:57:20.:57:25.

motion sickness watching this! The British supporters have played their

:57:26.:57:28.

part. 300 of them have made the trip to Belgrade, many of them on a

:57:29.:57:34.

hugely entertaining road trip across Europe and the weather hasn't been

:57:35.:57:38.

great. They have enjoyed their weekend and Leon Smith here hoping

:57:39.:57:48.

for his 14th win out of 16 ties as captain. It's been an incredible

:57:49.:57:53.

record since he's took over. They are the reigning champions and who

:57:54.:57:56.

is to say they can't win back-to-back Davis Cups. This man

:57:57.:58:02.

will be back for the semifinals. Argentina will be visiting British

:58:03.:58:08.

shores. Will that be indoors, perhaps back in Glasgow, perhaps at

:58:09.:58:13.

the O2 Arena, maybe at Wimbledon? We shall have to wait and see.

:58:14.:58:18.

Argentina have beaten Italy 3-1. France have beaten the Czech

:58:19.:58:22.

Republic 3-1. France are through to the semis. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

:58:23.:58:37.

winning through today. It is shaping up really nicely, Jamie. What a

:58:38.:58:42.

final that would be, France against Great Britain... In France! That

:58:43.:58:47.

would be in France, of course. As would a match against the USA. Hang

:58:48.:58:51.

on, we are talking about potential finals here. Something has gone

:58:52.:58:57.

wrong! We would be away to the USA, but Britain would be at home to

:58:58.:59:07.

Croatia. That is something to think about potentially for November. Kyle

:59:08.:59:15.

Edmund, we should put this note of caution out there, was leading two

:59:16.:59:21.

sets to love in the final last year. He couldn't hold on to the lead on

:59:22.:59:28.

that occasion. That was David Goffin, a top 20 player. He had

:59:29.:59:33.

underperformed for two sets, by his standards. This time, will it be

:59:34.:59:36.

different? This is such a course that Dusan

:59:37.:00:57.

Lajovic has to win not just to keep himself in this match, but his

:00:58.:01:01.

nation in the tie over all the a whole competition. Just a little bit

:01:02.:01:08.

of pressure on his shoulders. He is the Serbian No 3. It is not only

:01:09.:01:14.

Novak Djokovic who is not here. Viktor Troicki has missed the tie.

:01:15.:01:20.

They both played against Kazakhstan in the last match. That was an

:01:21.:01:26.

interesting tie, they had to come from 2-1 down to beat the Ca Zaks.

:01:27.:01:32.

Djokovic was 2-1 down in sets in the fourth rubber. But they sealed the

:01:33.:01:34.

tie in the end. It was the same weekend as Britain

:01:35.:01:54.

beat Japan in Birmingham with that classic Murray/Nishikori match. That

:01:55.:02:00.

will probably go down as one of the matches of the year.

:02:01.:03:41.

That is another big point and Kyle Edmund not hesitating again with

:03:42.:03:50.

that forehand. Short return and it is the same result every time.

:03:51.:04:08.

Again gets it down from 0-30. He is so on a level, no ups and downs, if

:04:09.:04:19.

he does have a bad couple of minutes, it is only lasting one,

:04:20.:04:24.

maybe two points. It is not lasting a game or a string of games. He is

:04:25.:04:30.

very composed. I was saying at the start, he is very focussed on the

:04:31.:04:35.

process and that is where the Great Britain Davis Cup team, everyone

:04:36.:04:39.

there, they're so good at preparing the players.

:04:40.:04:57.

But don't forget this is not something that just happens during

:04:58.:05:02.

the Davis Cup. It is the product of a player who is very profession and

:05:03.:05:07.

and goes about his business every day and established himself in the

:05:08.:05:09.

top 100. We haven't seen enough of that

:05:10.:05:41.

backhand so far today, have we? And credit for that, Jamie, has to

:05:42.:05:45.

shared by the player and the coaches he has worked with. Many will be

:05:46.:05:48.

watching. Greg Rusedsk, Colin Beacher. They

:05:49.:05:59.

have all played their part in developing this young talent.

:06:00.:07:07.

Time for a few more court repairs after just three games of set.

:07:08.:07:12.

Hopefully from a British point of view, not too many games left and

:07:13.:07:20.

then it will be onwards and upwards. Amazing, John, they have managed to

:07:21.:07:24.

play without interruption. It looks like the worst of rain may have

:07:25.:07:29.

headed further afield for now. Yes, it basically, it has not stopped for

:07:30.:07:33.

the first two sets. On any other surface and they would be in

:07:34.:07:37.

trouble. But on the clay you can get away wit. Kyle Edmund has played

:07:38.:07:45.

five sets of tennis in the rain, where four days ago it was 35

:07:46.:07:50.

degrees. Changing racket tension and these things have changed within 48

:07:51.:07:53.

hours. Remarkable. But he has loved it. I think he would like to play

:07:54.:07:58.

more rainy conditions. If he keeps playing like this. I'm sure a lot of

:07:59.:08:06.

that blue you see on the left of the picture, is the GB fans, I'm sure a

:08:07.:08:12.

lot are Scottish. You will have to give us some heavier rain to upset

:08:13.:08:18.

them I tell you. A good point about the string tension. John Dalton

:08:19.:08:23.

would have been busy, he is the string hear the travels with the

:08:24.:08:27.

British team. They have every base covered in the support staff.

:08:28.:08:41.

Physios out with the team. A nutritionist. Video analyst. A

:08:42.:08:49.

Wimbledon champion! He put some good stuff op Twitter,

:08:50.:09:20.

because the full team hadn't arrived, because of the Wimbledon

:09:21.:09:26.

final and Andy Murray being involved with the strap line, how many

:09:27.:09:31.

support staff does it take to organise a doubles players practice?

:09:32.:10:59.

It is just supersolid. But Lajovic so predictable. Why he has not tried

:11:00.:11:12.

to take it earlier. He has been looping the ball and unless he hits

:11:13.:11:17.

it perfectly, Edmunds steps around the forehand and he is right away

:11:18.:11:21.

defending. It has happened so many times, it is difficult if you're --

:11:22.:11:26.

your player doesn't have those shots in your game, you have to change it

:11:27.:11:28.

and do something different. We haven't seen much of the coach

:11:29.:11:54.

over the weekend. He seems to be sitting there quite relaxed. When it

:11:55.:11:59.

is almost now or never time for Serbia.

:12:00.:12:37.

It is just so good. When was the last time he made what you describe

:12:38.:12:48.

as a really bad miss. It is hard to remember. It is just almost nothing.

:12:49.:13:00.

He has been stingy. There we go! We had to say that!

:13:01.:13:11.

Can first serve returns be described as misses? I suppose. We'll let him

:13:12.:13:18.

off! That shot is the shot, the backhand

:13:19.:13:36.

of Lajovic that we thought would be a big weapon after the James Ward

:13:37.:13:45.

match. This one here, it just hasn't materialised, he hasn't gone wide or

:13:46.:13:49.

deep enough and he gets punished. It's happened so many times now.

:13:50.:14:23.

Oh! How did he make that volley, Lajovic? Break point down! That to

:14:24.:14:34.

me, it is a wonderful point from both players, but the difference is

:14:35.:14:40.

Lajovic was in command, that whole rally, on the baseline, but really

:14:41.:14:44.

couldn't put the ball away. Eventually he won the point. Kyle

:14:45.:14:50.

Edmund has been keeping the rallies shorter. When he gets the strike

:14:51.:14:57.

area around the baseline he does serious damage on the first punch

:14:58.:15:00.

and Lajovic doesn't have that in his game.

:15:01.:15:18.

It stayed in. Stayed in off the net caught. Not sure it was even off the

:15:19.:15:32.

net caught. Oh, an agonising change of direction. Edmund can't believe

:15:33.:15:38.

it. But look at him. Look how solid mentally he is. Huge frustration,

:15:39.:15:42.

but it is already in the past. You love that if you're captain if

:15:43.:16:22.

you're two sets down and he shows that sort of reaction holding on to

:16:23.:16:27.

his serve and you love to see that fight and that transmits around the

:16:28.:16:32.

court and sends a message out to Kyle Edmund that I'm still in this

:16:33.:16:36.

match. You have got to put me away. You love to see that. In terms of

:16:37.:16:47.

tactical changes, what would you do, Jamie, if you were in Lajovic's

:16:48.:16:51.

situation and had to resort to a plan B. I'm always looking to see

:16:52.:16:59.

which player, what do players have where they can win multiple points

:17:00.:17:04.

over and again. The best of five-set matcheses is long. We have seen from

:17:05.:17:09.

Kyle Edmund, the forehand, how can he get into positions where he wins.

:17:10.:17:18.

He has won 20, 30 points. Most have been free winners. But with Lajovic,

:17:19.:17:22.

I'm struggling to see where he is going to win multiple points from. I

:17:23.:17:29.

agree, you feel it is in Kyle Edmund's hands, the only way is if

:17:30.:17:34.

there is a let down a concentration, a physical side, something like

:17:35.:17:36.

that. That is the only way it looks like. Buzz it doesn't look --

:17:37.:17:42.

because it doesn't look like he has anything in his game to trouble Kyle

:17:43.:17:44.

Edmund. That is just a fantastic forehand.

:17:45.:17:56.

He did nothing wrong in that point. This was a good backhand and how do

:17:57.:18:05.

you get that Ang snl O -- angle? He has done that so often today.

:18:06.:18:06.

Brilliant. Two in a row! Impossible to defend

:18:07.:18:27.

against. Because there is no way you can cover across to that corner,

:18:28.:18:32.

because he can just as easily go down the line on the other hand. It

:18:33.:18:37.

just so happens it is working so well cross-court, that why change?

:18:38.:18:44.

But why not stand two or three feet closer to the serve, especially on

:18:45.:18:49.

the kicker and take it earlier and give Edmunds less time to get ready

:18:50.:18:54.

for that forehand. He has been redictable where he -- predictable

:18:55.:19:01.

where he stands, he has not broken Edmunds once. He is moving up a bit.

:19:02.:19:04.

Then going back. That maybe the first sliced return

:19:05.:19:17.

we have seen in the whole match. It is the first point where haez

:19:18.:19:24.

stepped up. The point about him stand ing so far back. Even if he

:19:25.:19:28.

hits the down the line return from that far back, Kyle can get to that.

:19:29.:19:33.

In his mind can he already camp over in the backhand side waiting for the

:19:34.:19:34.

forehand. That is a bit more aggressive that,

:19:35.:19:53.

sliced backhand, why not use that more in the rallies? The looping

:19:54.:19:59.

backhand that obviously that is his favourite shot, has been almost no

:20:00.:20:06.

use. Why not slice and change it up. Every second shot try a slice and

:20:07.:20:07.

try and change the rhythm of Edmund. Just the single break of serve for

:20:08.:20:52.

Edmund in both sets one and two, it came in the sixth game of first set,

:20:53.:20:59.

the seventh of the second set. And with Lajovic serving first in this

:21:00.:21:02.

set, here we are again at the seventh game. Edmund might just have

:21:03.:21:09.

to retape that right index finger. We have seen that causing him a bit

:21:10.:21:11.

of bother. No surprise at all if Edmund were to

:21:12.:21:39.

choose this seventh game to step it up and get what surely would be a

:21:40.:21:42.

decisive break. Perhaps some of that eagerness to

:21:43.:22:06.

finish the job showing. You mentioned errors a few games ago,

:22:07.:22:10.

that is the first one where he has been inside the court and not taken

:22:11.:22:11.

advantage. That has been the shot of Davis Cup

:22:12.:22:31.

of this tie. That inside out forehand. This is, I don't know how

:22:32.:22:38.

many winners he has hit in that position, but it has been too many

:22:39.:22:40.

to count. It has been brilliant. There was a case of Lajovic forcing

:22:41.:23:07.

to go for shots now that doesn't really want to go for, but he almost

:23:08.:23:10.

has no choice in his mind. He was a bit annoyed for about two

:23:11.:23:41.

seconds and then right away - back to business!

:23:42.:24:49.

The reactions at the net after trying to bluff Lajovic by going

:24:50.:24:56.

down the line with the forehand. He will get a third chance to break in

:24:57.:24:58.

this game. So impressive. So impressive. Two

:24:59.:25:55.

sets and now a break of serve and Britain - this thanks to Kyle

:25:56.:26:05.

Edmund, two games away. He was up 15-40 and had a couple of wobbles.

:26:06.:26:09.

Missed a second serve return and then the feet didn't move on his

:26:10.:26:13.

backhand. You thought he is looking too far ahead to the finishing line

:26:14.:26:19.

and then he readjusted, played a couple of fab lose points --

:26:20.:26:25.

fabulous points. Look how calm Murray is there, to the lefts he

:26:26.:26:31.

left of the screen. He knows his man has got this in the can.

:26:32.:26:42.

Normal think would be a bit of -- normally there would be a bit of

:26:43.:26:48.

stress, coaches and players on their feet, trying to get a few messages

:26:49.:26:52.

around. But he has done everything right. It is the preparation -

:26:53.:26:58.

everybody knows Edmund has been prepared perfectly. The tactics are

:26:59.:27:02.

right, the physical fitness is right and so far the execution is right on

:27:03.:27:08.

the court as well. Yes I know it is a cliche, but you control the things

:27:09.:27:11.

that you can control. That is what it is about. They will be on the

:27:12.:27:15.

bench relaxed and comfortable, because Edmund has shown no sign of

:27:16.:27:20.

deviating from that prepared path if you like. All they need is your

:27:21.:27:31.

brother's baseball cap, John. That is what he used to wear on the

:27:32.:27:35.

bench. Did he ever have a suit like that? No, thank goodness!

:27:36.:28:06.

That drop shot has not been very good. Played a fabulous point to get

:28:07.:28:22.

himself into this position, Lajovic, and then I think Kyle would have got

:28:23.:28:27.

that any way. He made it too obvious.

:28:28.:28:57.

That is the added bonus when you're so efficient with your attacking

:28:58.:29:02.

play, the impact it has on the player down the other end. That is

:29:03.:29:07.

just a direct result of him, Lajovic, trying to do too much.

:29:08.:29:43.

That is impressive, break of serve in the seventh game. Love service

:29:44.:29:51.

game hold in the eighth. Just faced a single break point. He has held

:29:52.:29:57.

his serve throughout. And now just a game away if he can break here.

:29:58.:30:03.

Lajovic serving to stay in the match.

:30:04.:31:31.

I think we can safely predict we can all settle in for many years of

:31:32.:31:38.

watching this young man from Yorkshire playing tennis on our

:31:39.:31:43.

televisions for a considerable time. Let's hope so. He's 67 in the world

:31:44.:31:48.

already. That is a career high. He's very much on the rise. On this

:31:49.:31:55.

evidence, well definitely a top 50 player. Makes you wonder how much

:31:56.:32:00.

higher. Potential to go where, John? I look at the way he is playing

:32:01.:32:05.

here. I look top 20, top 10, possibly. There are other surfaces.

:32:06.:32:12.

Just the weapons he has in his game, the control, mentally, that he's had

:32:13.:32:17.

in a huge match. Just over two hours and he's come out here and he's been

:32:18.:32:22.

dominating against a decent clay-court player and it looked like

:32:23.:32:26.

this was a regulation match for him. It's been a fantastic display so

:32:27.:32:30.

far. He has to close this game out, obviously. Leon will be saying one

:32:31.:32:37.

point at a time, don't rush. Take your time. Five years ago, Kyle

:32:38.:32:54.

Edmund won the Junior Davis Cup. It is an illustration of how well Kyle

:32:55.:32:57.

Edmund has done to push on from that to get to where he is right now.

:32:58.:33:28.

One of Lajovic's best points of the match. Exactly. Edmund did nothing

:33:29.:33:34.

wrong. It was a good approach shot as well. That's too good. Sometimes

:33:35.:33:40.

that happens. He got plenty of whip on that ball, got it up high and

:33:41.:33:41.

deep. That is a fabulous backhand. The transition from the juniors to

:33:42.:34:32.

the professional ranks is never easy. Britain certainly isn't alone

:34:33.:34:37.

as a nation which has always struggled to convert junior talent

:34:38.:34:41.

into the senior game. Here is a man who has shown from the start a

:34:42.:34:45.

willingness to learn, a willingness to knuckle down. And develop his

:34:46.:34:51.

tennis. And now win matches at the highest level.

:34:52.:35:24.

Treating us to the variety of forehands which have taken him to

:35:25.:35:35.

the verge of victory in this match. How good was that? That was a

:35:36.:35:39.

difficult overhead. There is the typical forehand that we have seen

:35:40.:35:42.

so many times now, it is frightening. Two points from the

:35:43.:35:47.

semifinals of the Davis Cup. That really is the first sign of any

:35:48.:36:06.

tension. That shot has been so effective in this match. Just a

:36:07.:36:13.

little bit of tension in the arm there, cutting the tape.

:36:14.:36:37.

That is tension for you! The pressure of serving it out there and

:36:38.:38:11.

you could almost see his arm shaking in expectancy and Murray talked

:38:12.:38:16.

about that, the time he served out Wimbledon for the first time. When

:38:17.:38:19.

that sets in, there is not much you can do about it. It is all part of

:38:20.:38:24.

the learning experience. He still has a healthy lead. But Dusan

:38:25.:38:28.

Lajovic breaks for the first time in the match and we are level at 5-5,

:38:29.:38:30.

third set. This is going to be a very important

:38:31.:39:27.

changeover coming up, if Kyle Edmund was to lose this game. This is where

:39:28.:39:33.

Leon has got to get in his face a little bit here and reassure him.

:39:34.:40:50.

What a couple of games for Dusan Lajovic. The number one player this

:40:51.:40:59.

weekend for Serbia. And he, his friends, his family, all the

:41:00.:41:03.

supporters, barring the travelling Brits, fully intend to still be out

:41:04.:41:07.

here in a couple of hours' time. That is what it is going to take if

:41:08.:41:11.

he wants to turn this match around from here. Pressure now of a

:41:12.:41:17.

different kind on Kyle Edmund. Not serving for the match, serving to

:41:18.:41:19.

stay in the set. How does that conversation go? What

:41:20.:41:31.

does Leon Smith say now? Well, he just has to calm him down here. If

:41:32.:41:35.

he looks back at that game, he is not going to talk too much about

:41:36.:41:39.

that game, but the first point Lajovic played a great point, 30-15

:41:40.:41:45.

it was a tight point. He has to get in his face, which he is doing. And

:41:46.:41:50.

say, look, these things can happen. You are playing great. You have to

:41:51.:41:55.

take this game and you will take it in the tie-breaker, the crowd are

:41:56.:41:58.

starting to get involved a bit more, just block it out. Just keep doing

:41:59.:42:03.

the things you have been doing. There is nothing too complicated to

:42:04.:42:06.

talk about. Quite a lot of credit to Lajovic in

:42:07.:42:17.

that game. We saw the replays of how fired up he was getting. You

:42:18.:42:23.

mentioned it earlier on. To see somebody so fired up, so into it,

:42:24.:42:29.

when it has been one-way traffic, very impressive from him. I agree.

:42:30.:42:35.

Played two of his best points to break there. What a time to do it.

:42:36.:42:56.

The best you can do out of this set now is a tie-break.

:42:57.:43:11.

You can add in the variable of the home crowd as well starting to play

:43:12.:43:16.

its part. In the last game, there was more

:43:17.:43:56.

pace off his shots. There's another big forehand here. We have seen so

:43:57.:44:00.

few of those from Lajovic where he's taking command of the points. It is

:44:01.:44:06.

almost like he was about to lose and open up his shoulders. He is taking

:44:07.:44:09.

a few more chances. Kyle Edmund has to keep his feet

:44:10.:44:59.

moving here. So many pros over the years have talked about it when the

:45:00.:45:04.

pressure is on, when the nerves invade, the footwork is the first

:45:05.:45:06.

thing to go. 30-15. The biggest difference in this game

:45:07.:46:31.

has been... The most points in this game, Lajovic has been on the front

:46:32.:46:33.

foot. That's gone wide. Might have hit the

:46:34.:47:15.

baseline. Pretty sure that is wide of the sideline. Set-point saved.

:47:16.:47:23.

Close but definitely out. Well played Kyle Edmund. He is under

:47:24.:47:41.

intense pressure here. Still so inexperienced in the game.

:47:42.:47:56.

It is an ongoing learning experience, which will benefit him

:47:57.:48:02.

hugely, you feel. He's got to get himself through it. He needs to keep

:48:03.:48:14.

having faith in these type of shots that have served him so well. Keep

:48:15.:48:18.

believing you can hit the first serve and the big forehand.

:48:19.:48:33.

Dusan Lajovic was two points away from defeat. Now he has set-point

:48:34.:49:31.

for a second time. What a forehand! That is

:49:32.:49:51.

unbelievable. Set-point down and he hits that forehand winner from that

:49:52.:49:53.

position. Well done. Well done coming through

:49:54.:50:55.

that game. Two set-points saved. Tie-break time. Does the match go to

:50:56.:51:00.

a fourth set? Or does Kyle Edmund wrap it up right now for Great

:51:01.:51:05.

Britain? How important was that to come through? What a gutsy effort.

:51:06.:51:08.

He is learning by the point out there. He is. Jamie and I were

:51:09.:51:15.

looking at his serve, it looks like he's not pushing up as much on his

:51:16.:51:20.

legs as he was. That is a sign of nerves, the tiredness, but that is

:51:21.:51:24.

coming from the nerves, and he's got to somehow just charge himself up,

:51:25.:51:28.

get this match over with in this tie-breaker.

:51:29.:51:53.

This is where he needs some serves now. He needs to push up on those

:51:54.:52:00.

legs and snap the ball and fight through this.

:52:01.:52:58.

There we go. The forehand is back! And two first serves in a row. That

:52:59.:53:05.

enabled him to get on the front foot. Excellent forehand there. That

:53:06.:53:13.

sets him up and he just plants his feet and there's three in the row in

:53:14.:53:17.

the same place. Important to get one of those trademark forehands in,

:53:18.:53:22.

Jamie? Early in the tie-break? Yes, to re-establish the pattern of what

:53:23.:53:27.

has been for most of this two hours, make Dusan Lajovic think how

:53:28.:53:28.

difficult it has been. The importance of this tie-break

:53:29.:53:54.

can't be overstated. Played for two-and-a-half hours already. Could

:53:55.:53:59.

be a straight-sets match. If this is going five, it will be a five-hour

:54:00.:54:01.

contest. Of course, Serbia will know, they

:54:02.:54:37.

will know that Edmund has lost from two sets to love up, that was in the

:54:38.:54:40.

final last year against David Goffin. They will know he got

:54:41.:54:45.

physically tired in that match quite quickly. They will know if they can

:54:46.:54:55.

win this set, they will have a very good shot in the physical battle.

:54:56.:55:01.

Still on serve in the third-set tie-break.

:55:02.:55:15.

Not anymore. That was a strange first serve from Kyle Edmund. He

:55:16.:55:26.

rolled that one in, a kicker, but not an out wide kicker. To me, it

:55:27.:55:32.

was almost getting the first serve in, rather than doing some damage.

:55:33.:55:54.

Earlier in the match, it was Edmund that was coming out on top in those

:55:55.:56:00.

longer rallies. He was so dominant early in the points. It seems like

:56:01.:56:04.

the balance has slightly shifted and Lajovic is looking way more

:56:05.:56:08.

comfortable being able to at least have a say in how the points are

:56:09.:56:10.

finishing. A big point for Edmund to win. Such

:56:11.:56:44.

a unique scoring system, the first to seven, you have to win by two

:56:45.:56:49.

clear points. At 4-2 down with one serve to come, you know if you lose

:56:50.:56:54.

that point, the other guy has got two serves to win it. It is not

:56:55.:56:57.

quite the case yet, though. What a moment to pull out one of

:56:58.:57:58.

your best serves down the middle. Well, if you are watching this,

:57:59.:58:01.

thinking there was no tension at all in the Andy Murray final, and that

:58:02.:58:07.

was far too easy, here we go. The Davis Cup gets you back.

:58:08.:58:27.

A matter of millimetres. What a shot. He's continued to go for the

:58:28.:58:42.

forehand. That is just massive. Alright, ladies and gentlemen, after

:58:43.:58:55.

this, it will be a set-point or a match-point.

:58:56.:59:17.

It's wide. It's a match-point. That second serve from Kyle Edmund barely

:59:18.:59:26.

went over the net. That was the slowest serve he has ever hit. It

:59:27.:59:30.

doesn't matter, he got the job done in the end.

:59:31.:59:41.

Under an extraordinary amount of pressure. Kyle Edmund, in his second

:59:42.:59:48.

Davis Cup match for Great Britain, has match-point.

:59:49.:00:01.

Kyle Edmund does it for Britain! Two wins across the weekend. Britain

:00:02.:00:13.

into the semi-finals again. They have done it without Andy Murray.

:00:14.:00:23.

And this young man has really stepped up in the Wimbledon

:00:24.:00:25.

champion's absence. Since the formation of world group

:00:26.:00:42.

in 1981 it's the first time Britain have won a world group or a play-off

:00:43.:00:47.

match without their No 1 player, whoever that may have been at the

:00:48.:00:54.

time. And huge credit to Jamie Murray, to Dom Inglot to James Ward,

:00:55.:00:59.

for being part of team at late notice, but especially to Kyle

:01:00.:01:06.

Edmunds. A player we are going to be following for the future - no doubt

:01:07.:01:10.

about that. Hopefully for a decade or more. What a talent and what an

:01:11.:01:19.

education in those final ten, 15 minutes he has found a way to win.

:01:20.:01:30.

Which is what it's all about. Failing to serve out the match when

:01:31.:01:35.

he had the chance at 5-4. He was two points from victory and then the

:01:36.:01:40.

arms started to wobble and the mind started to frazzle. But back he

:01:41.:01:47.

came. 4-2 down in the tie-break, didn't let that bother him!

:01:48.:01:56.

Edmund ended up wing five of the last six points in that third set

:01:57.:02:05.

tie-break. If you're wondering how he managed to do that, I think we

:02:06.:02:10.

are just going to have to shrug our shoulders. The the pressure

:02:11.:02:16.

situations that they find thens in, you only find admiration. I won my

:02:17.:02:22.

first match for my count are and this is my second. The fact I put

:02:23.:02:26.

two good performances together I'm happy. I thought my level was good.

:02:27.:02:34.

I'm happy for the team that I won. Kyle this was a 50/50 match at the

:02:35.:02:40.

start. You pulled away, you played superbly when you went to serve for

:02:41.:02:43.

the match, how much of an issue was nerves at that stage? Yeah, you're

:02:44.:02:47.

just aware of the situation, simple as that. You obviously just say, OK

:02:48.:02:56.

it is another game. But it's just normal sub consciously you're going

:02:57.:03:01.

to know what's at stake. Thought I didn't play too badly. Maybe at

:03:02.:03:07.

30-all and the break point I went a bit passive. It is easy in hind

:03:08.:03:12.

sight, you don't want to give away cheap points. But but I'm happy I

:03:13.:03:22.

regrouped. I was a mini-break down, did well the first two points to

:03:23.:03:28.

bring it back to 4-all and from 5-1 just one point at a time. Even that

:03:29.:03:35.

last point, you're preparing just stay tough, tough as nails and

:03:36.:03:43.

thankfully. You're going to be home for the semi-finals, how good does

:03:44.:03:47.

that feel? Yes, it is always nice to go home. It has been tough to come

:03:48.:03:54.

to Serbia and win is tough. But now we go home. I think we are playing

:03:55.:04:02.

Argentina. That will be stuff, but it is great to have the support.

:04:03.:04:08.

Even though we were in another country, it felt like I had a lot of

:04:09.:04:14.

support. Well done. STUDIO: Well done, he has led his

:04:15.:04:21.

country to a Davis Cup semi-final, but it got very tense at the end?

:04:22.:04:26.

What a performance. We were thinking this is so comfortable. His forehand

:04:27.:04:31.

was massive. The game where he served for the match, there was a

:04:32.:04:36.

bit of tension. He didn't play a bad game. He got a bit tight at 30-15

:04:37.:04:43.

and he missed a forehand. For the rest of the match he had so much

:04:44.:04:47.

clearance over the net. But over all, you think of how well he was

:04:48.:04:50.

playing the first two and a half hours and then to have the mental

:04:51.:04:54.

test with all the tension and to come through. Top marks really. It

:04:55.:05:00.

was a physical test, but that was a mental battle, those last few

:05:01.:05:04.

points. It was and just imagine if he ended up losing that set and he

:05:05.:05:09.

had been that close to it. I thought it was a gutsy performance and being

:05:10.:05:18.

down in the tie-braeshg. But he had -- tie-break. But he had faith in

:05:19.:05:23.

his game. This is match point. And he stood firm. Yes, Lajovic played

:05:24.:05:29.

his best couple of games at the end out of the whole match. He came

:05:30.:05:33.

through and Kyle had to writ stand that pressure and kept having belief

:05:34.:05:38.

in what he was going to do and it came good. That will mean so much to

:05:39.:05:43.

him, that he came through under that pressure. What that could do for his

:05:44.:05:48.

career is amazing. It was... It got to tight towards the end. He wasn't

:05:49.:05:53.

moving that well. If he had lost that set you felt how would he have

:05:54.:05:58.

come back. So it was a credit to him that he found a way to win. He

:05:59.:06:04.

managed to regroup. It was important at the start of tie-break, there was

:06:05.:06:09.

a couple of points where he dominated, a couple of games before,

:06:10.:06:12.

Lajovic was getting on top of the points. I just reinforced in

:06:13.:06:18.

Lajovic's head this will be tough and he will have to play some good

:06:19.:06:22.

tennis, because Kyle is not going to give it away. On the match point he

:06:23.:06:28.

tried to go for the backhands up the line. He stood firm, Kyle had to dig

:06:29.:06:37.

deep to get himself back to 6-6. It was fabulous. The winners that Kyle

:06:38.:06:44.

hit today, the total faith he has in the forehand is amazing. I just kept

:06:45.:06:50.

over and again just taking just chapses. -- chances. Crucial. That

:06:51.:06:55.

showed you that belief he has got in that side of his game. At this

:06:56.:07:00.

point, considering what had happened in the match, having served for it,

:07:01.:07:05.

that is just purely all about guts. You can talk about his game style

:07:06.:07:12.

and what he needs to do, to come back, he did well not to show too

:07:13.:07:17.

much. You could tell by some of his shots that he was feeling tight. But

:07:18.:07:21.

he was just rock solid at the end. Such a big test. Never been in that

:07:22.:07:26.

position before. I think this will do him a lot of good, because you

:07:27.:07:30.

proved to yourself that you can turn things around and win the points

:07:31.:07:36.

that matter. You can't teach that? No if he had won in the regulation,

:07:37.:07:42.

yes it was a great performance, but he won so comfortably, but to lose

:07:43.:07:46.

the serve and come back with the whole tension on it and win the

:07:47.:07:50.

tie-breaking, he will be thinking, you know p boy, I have done it, I

:07:51.:07:57.

can, what can I do from here. At 4-2 down, you're thinking this is

:07:58.:08:03.

getting tight. But he seemed to up thence intense -- up the intensity.

:08:04.:08:08.

Yes Kyle almost went for a shot that was kind of hit-or-miss and made a

:08:09.:08:13.

huge forehand winner. That maybe relaxed him and for Lajovic the

:08:14.:08:19.

difference between 4-3 and 5-2 is massive. He had such variety in his

:08:20.:08:27.

game. Is so similar pressive. -- it is so impressive. He has got a huge

:08:28.:08:32.

forehand, but it was the different ways he hit it. The short angles and

:08:33.:08:37.

he would go down the line and hit the high ball. His backhand was

:08:38.:08:43.

superb. We talk about the forehand, but the backhand was fantastic

:08:44.:08:47.

today. Defended so well with it. Hit some great ones down the line. He

:08:48.:08:50.

showed a lot of variety in all aspects of hiss game. Early on, the

:08:51.:08:56.

way Lajovic was hitting the backhand with the top-spin, it was playing

:08:57.:09:02.

into Kyle's hands. What Kyle was doing, that is tough on a slow

:09:03.:09:07.

court, he was taking the ball almost on the rise and it was almost like

:09:08.:09:11.

he was hitting it before Lajovic could set himself and he was able to

:09:12.:09:16.

hit so many winners. We have been talking about he has improved the

:09:17.:09:22.

backhand, but his movement, he got a bit tight towards the end. But he

:09:23.:09:27.

was moving well. How many times did we see him stretched wide and hit

:09:28.:09:30.

that forehand slide and the backhand. I thought he moved well.

:09:31.:09:35.

When I have seen Kyle in the past, I thought that could be the differen

:09:36.:09:43.

from separating him from the top, his defensive movement. But his

:09:44.:09:46.

movement has been fabulous. It is one more aspect he has improved. Now

:09:47.:09:52.

more reaction and we can hear from Kyle again. Well here is Kyle

:09:53.:09:59.

Edmund, who I think has had one of moments of his tennis life. Perhaps

:10:00.:10:03.

the moment so far. That was really special. What was going through your

:10:04.:10:08.

mind as you sank to the clay, knowing you had won? I don't know.

:10:09.:10:15.

Just... When you're out there, it is just such in the moment emotions.

:10:16.:10:20.

You are just trying to win every point. You don't really think. He

:10:21.:10:26.

missed a backhand down the line and when you see it go wide, you are so

:10:27.:10:31.

happy. In that third set, I was starting to feel it at the end and

:10:32.:10:37.

you put in so much physical eest effort -- physical effort and

:10:38.:10:41.

emotion. You want to win for your country and it is normal. But I'm

:10:42.:10:47.

pleased I won. Coming back having been broken when serving for the

:10:48.:10:52.

match, he is developing momentum, he can't be easy to shift it back your

:10:53.:10:59.

way? That is the thing when you play away, when the player, the home play

:11:00.:11:05.

per, he gains momentum and the crowd bite into that. It is the same when

:11:06.:11:09.

we are at home and the crowd's so loud and it is every point. That was

:11:10.:11:15.

the same here, they started to get louder and louder and every points

:11:16.:11:21.

becomes more important. So it was tough getting broken. I didn't want

:11:22.:11:27.

to. But I'm happy that I regrouped and played some tough tennis. Have

:11:28.:11:31.

you ever hit the ball harder than you did today? I don't know. Yeah,

:11:32.:11:38.

in practice, you have to practice a certain way. You can't practice one

:11:39.:11:43.

way and come out and just turn it on. If you're comfortable playing at

:11:44.:11:48.

that level, you have to practice at that level for long periods. I

:11:49.:11:53.

thought my ball speed dropped a bit. But not a huge amount. Playing on

:11:54.:11:58.

clay is very physical and I was feeling it at the end, but so was

:11:59.:12:03.

he. I was pleased I was able to dominate a lot of points. Here is

:12:04.:12:08.

your captain, you said at the start of the week you could see Kyle as a

:12:09.:12:14.

top 10 player one day. He showed why you think that. Don't tell that in

:12:15.:12:20.

front of him. Was that off-the-record? No I have seen Kyle

:12:21.:12:28.

develop and we went to South America and he was on fire, specially on a

:12:29.:12:36.

clay-court. Davis Cup final we saw what he did to Goffin for a couple

:12:37.:12:42.

of sets. And this year he is getting better and better. Physically he is

:12:43.:12:48.

stronger, that is credit to himself and his backhand is rock solid and

:12:49.:12:52.

he has a great serve and the forehand is an unbelievable shot. We

:12:53.:12:56.

saw what he was doing again with it. He is running around that backhand

:12:57.:13:01.

and you think he is off balance, but he can still pull the trigger. I'm

:13:02.:13:07.

sure, he is ehere, but he will take a lot from being able to win two

:13:08.:13:13.

strait set matches under this intensity. And yet again it is

:13:14.:13:18.

another bout of confidence to move forward. Andy Murray dominated the

:13:19.:13:25.

headlines in the Davis Cup, but you were keen to point United out there

:13:26.:13:34.

was a great team contributing. How much pleasure does it give you to

:13:35.:13:41.

have won without your star man. Yes it is just not the players, it is

:13:42.:13:44.

the staff and everyone works hard and everyone knows we are a close

:13:45.:13:50.

unit. But you know hats off to Kyle. This weekend to get two rubbers,

:13:51.:13:58.

yeah, that, to get your first Davis Cup win is something to get two in

:13:59.:14:03.

the same weekend is special. Is this the moment when you say bring on

:14:04.:14:07.

Argentina. Yes, I guess we are playing them. They beat Italy today.

:14:08.:14:20.

Again it will be a tough match. So Del Potro coming back, a dangerous

:14:21.:14:27.

play per, it will be tough, but we will enjoy this moment first and

:14:28.:14:31.

then look ahead to that. Great we have a home tie that will be a great

:14:32.:14:37.

atmosphere. You deserve a rest. Congratulations. You want to say

:14:38.:14:42.

something about the guys. These guys have been great. You could hear them

:14:43.:14:46.

singing all the time, we were in Serbia and the crowd is loud and it

:14:47.:14:51.

be become very you know loud, but these, when I have been playing I

:14:52.:14:54.

felt so much support from the bench and from the guys in the stands, so

:14:55.:15:03.

that is a credit to them. The Sterling University Barmy Army seem

:15:04.:15:07.

too make most of the noise. Well done. Leon Smith, Davis Cup

:15:08.:15:15.

semi-finalist again. Through to the semi-finals to face Argentina, who

:15:16.:15:27.

defeated if Italy today. So an away win for Argentina and another away

:15:28.:15:32.

win for France. We have three away wins, that is

:15:33.:15:44.

unusual. Yes it is a surprise. Maybe Croatia will beat the United States.

:15:45.:15:49.

But it is lovely, what Kyle was saying, you could sense the relief

:15:50.:15:55.

coming out. Yes especially the way that third set was shaping up. It is

:15:56.:15:59.

hard to describe is tension that would have built up. He is trying to

:16:00.:16:03.

keep that contained to try and perform and then he mentioned it,

:16:04.:16:08.

when you see the flight of the last ball drifting out, the relief is

:16:09.:16:15.

just amazing. Also for Leon, it is such a big moment. Without Andy

:16:16.:16:22.

Murray. We thought that was virtually impossible without Andy.

:16:23.:16:26.

How can you get that experience w Andy, you expect him to win his

:16:27.:16:32.

singles and the doubles. You're going to have situations where he

:16:33.:16:36.

doesn't play. Now Kyle has stepped up and won two matches without

:16:37.:16:41.

dropping a set. How good that is for Leon. He has No 2 back up, who you

:16:42.:16:46.

think can win one of the other matches and not put all the pressure

:16:47.:16:49.

on Andy. It is a wonderful feeling that the team will have and

:16:50.:16:55.

specially Leon. Embarrassing for Leon, that Russell suggested you

:16:56.:16:59.

would be a top ten player when Kyle was standing there, but he does look

:17:00.:17:02.

like he can. His forehands, there is no doubt. Where would you put his

:17:03.:17:07.

forehand in the world? Having spoken to people on the tour, they say in

:17:08.:17:14.

terms of pace it is in the top five. As an isolated shot. There is other

:17:15.:17:18.

areas of his game he can improve. His move pment we talk about --

:17:19.:17:23.

movement is the one we talk about. We will get better. He talked about

:17:24.:17:28.

it earlier, in the week, that the slower surface does give him time to

:17:29.:17:31.

do different thins. But this is the best I have seen him the defend on a

:17:32.:17:36.

court. He was using a sliced backhand, that he doesn't often do

:17:37.:17:39.

and he was able to defend his forehand and he was sliding on his

:17:40.:17:47.

outside leg and getting a strong foundation, different height and the

:17:48.:17:54.

one thing that tricky, is when it is on a quicker court, that is where

:17:55.:17:57.

the movement is a challenge. But he is young. And in terms of developing

:17:58.:18:03.

on the physical side, what better role model than Andy Murray. He

:18:04.:18:08.

wasn't the finished article at 17 or 18, he was a tall skinny guy. As far

:18:09.:18:16.

as the mental side, it is winning matches that gives you such a boost

:18:17.:18:23.

what he will believe now? I think daifbg is up there -- Davis Cup is

:18:24.:18:31.

up there. To win two matches in a Davis Cup singles away from home,

:18:32.:18:36.

might be about the most difficult thing in tennis. He has done it and

:18:37.:18:40.

under these circumstances where he served for the match and lost it. He

:18:41.:18:44.

will come away and think, you know, that is a huge accomplishment that I

:18:45.:18:50.

have done and why not from now on? Anything now, there won't be many

:18:51.:18:55.

more matches like that where he will be under as much tension. Now

:18:56.:19:08.

further reaction in Belgrade. Here is Dom Inglot and Jamie Murray.

:19:09.:19:12.

They're singing your song again. Nice to know the tie is in the bag?

:19:13.:19:20.

Yes Kyle was awesome the whole weekend, especially today. Did well

:19:21.:19:26.

to hold his nerve at the end. Not serving out and then having to fight

:19:27.:19:30.

back and then the tie-break. He did amazing. He is the reason that we

:19:31.:19:36.

are in the semi-finals. You told me before the tie how last Sunday

:19:37.:19:39.

during the Wimbledon final you preferred to be watching at home,

:19:40.:19:44.

because you can't get up and walk around and it is too stressful.

:19:45.:19:49.

Could you escape here? It is difficult,, It is difficult. You can

:19:50.:19:58.

support the guys and pick him up when he is down. I think we did a

:19:59.:20:01.

good job. The support staff are always you know so amazing, cheering

:20:02.:20:07.

the guys on and supporting them through the good and the bad times

:20:08.:20:11.

and it helps us perform well and it is a huge part of our success. I'm

:20:12.:20:21.

sure you would echo that. As somebody who hasn't always had the

:20:22.:20:25.

chance the play. It is a team effort. Yes the support staff are

:20:26.:20:32.

key. Look how much noise their making and that helps when you're in

:20:33.:20:35.

a tight situation like Kyle had. That gets you through. So credit to

:20:36.:20:40.

everyone who is making it as easy as possible for us. So much to look

:20:41.:20:46.

forward to. Not just the semi-final, but you're heading to Rio for the

:20:47.:20:52.

Olympics. We got fully confirmed, all the appeals is done, a day ago,

:20:53.:20:57.

so me and Connor are going and going to join this big guy and Andy and

:20:58.:21:03.

the girls. So it will be, we are pumped to go and in September the

:21:04.:21:07.

next tie as well. A lot of good things to come. Wonderful for the

:21:08.:21:12.

future of the British team you have you and Andy who have been

:21:13.:21:16.

performing at a high level and both of you many years left and Dom on

:21:17.:21:22.

the scoreboard and Kyle at just the age of 21 with such a blight future?

:21:23.:21:29.

-- bright future. This weekend we didn't have Andy and we are going

:21:30.:21:33.

away from home, playing outdoors on clay and the guys stepped it up and

:21:34.:21:38.

you know Dom's won his first points was huge. Especially last year he

:21:39.:21:42.

was always there to play and you know Andy put himself forward for

:21:43.:21:47.

the doubles, must have been frustrating, but he showed why he is

:21:48.:21:53.

such a good player. And Kyle was awesome and I think his ranking

:21:54.:21:57.

lies, I think the more established he becomes on the tour, his ranking

:21:58.:22:01.

will continue to move up and you know a lot of good things ahead for

:22:02.:22:08.

us. Enjoy your evening. Thank you. They're definitely going to enjoy

:22:09.:22:12.

their evening and they played their part. It is a complete team. Yes,

:22:13.:22:19.

last year we had the amazing win from James Ward and the rest of the

:22:20.:22:23.

time it was the Murray show. This year that is a different story.

:22:24.:22:27.

Andy's chosen and also had the confidence in the rest of the

:22:28.:22:30.

players coming in to think, I don't need to play this match, I think we

:22:31.:22:34.

can get through without me playing and Kyle Edmund to get his first win

:22:35.:22:40.

and Dom Inglot, that is amazing. They did well yesterday, they're

:22:41.:22:44.

such strong favourites in that match and got off to a quick start and

:22:45.:22:49.

sometimes that is difficult, because you know the team will respond, but

:22:50.:22:54.

you don't know how well. They came back in and did well to win the

:22:55.:22:58.

third set and get over the line. Although we won today, those last

:22:59.:23:02.

two matches had a lot of tension in them at the end. They certainly

:23:03.:23:08.

have. And we played in this competition, you don't feel part of

:23:09.:23:12.

it until you have won. You could see Dom's reaction. I loved that. You

:23:13.:23:18.

had better believe it! He was so happy. He is a good doubles player

:23:19.:23:22.

and when Andy wants to play, you know Andy would be in the top five

:23:23.:23:27.

in the world in doubles. Is tough to dislodge him. It gives Leon the

:23:28.:23:32.

opportunity if Andy has a five-set match to put Dom in. And you have

:23:33.:23:39.

Jamie who was No 1 in the world, has won a Grand Slam. We are in good

:23:40.:23:44.

shape in doubles. And we have Colin Fleming and others and we are

:23:45.:23:48.

blessed in that area and we have the singles coming up. We could be a

:23:49.:23:51.

factor in Davis Cup for a number of years. Doesn't that sound good? Yes.

:23:52.:23:57.

Listening to Dom and Jamie, talking about the lives, that is not --

:23:58.:24:01.

Olympics, that is not far away. In August all eyes will be on Rio.

:24:02.:24:18.

Jessica Ennis-Hill is back on top of world. Nicola Adams has made

:24:19.:24:23.

history. Gold for Kenya. His 18th Olympic

:24:24.:24:44.

gold medal. They are world champions again. She has iced the cake in

:24:45.:24:53.

style. Bradley Wiggins is the Olympic champion. Laura Trott closes

:24:54.:25:03.

the line as the world champion. Not long to wait. Before that we have

:25:04.:25:08.

got the anniversary games to look forward to from Olympic Park the

:25:09.:25:11.

athletic, on Friday at 8pm. Talking about the Olympics and it

:25:12.:25:31.

meant so much to Andy Murray, we have had a few high profile pull

:25:32.:25:40.

outs with Raonic and Leyton Hewitt. For Andy Murray it means a lot. Yes

:25:41.:25:50.

2012 was a great experience, after having lost Wimbledon. I think this

:25:51.:25:54.

time his, I don't know whether it might be a controversial thing to

:25:55.:25:57.

say, but I think his focus will be on trying to win the doubles with

:25:58.:26:00.

Jamie, that would be unbelievable, if he had the choice this time, if

:26:01.:26:06.

he could win one or the other. Do you? I think the massive would be

:26:07.:26:12.

massive for the brothers. They have won so much with the Davis Cup in

:26:13.:26:16.

the doubles, it would be a special family occasion. You feel with Lendl

:26:17.:26:21.

in his corner after Wimbledon he fancies winning all the big vents.

:26:22.:26:25.

Oh, he is so good, it is frightening. Wimbledon he was

:26:26.:26:33.

amazing. The US Open, he is odds on either him and Djokovic, it will be

:26:34.:26:38.

those two. I see him winning another three or four Grand Slams in

:26:39.:26:41.

singles. That is the Olympics in August and in September and this

:26:42.:26:47.

will be live on the BBC, Argentina against Great Britain. So it is a

:26:48.:26:53.

home tie for us. But Argentina are tough. Del Potro. Yes with them, the

:26:54.:27:00.

surface will be our opportunity to choose that and we can put a court

:27:01.:27:09.

down that suits us better. What another great occasion to be in a

:27:10.:27:15.

Davis Cup semi-final, we made the quarter-final two years ago, won it

:27:16.:27:20.

last year. It is so good there is so much good tennis available and the

:27:21.:27:24.

British public, Andy Murray, we spend so much time giving him

:27:25.:27:30.

praise, because he deserves it, to have the opportunity outside of

:27:31.:27:34.

Wimbledon and at the O2 to see him play and perform at his best is

:27:35.:27:40.

special, because you Nantes know when another -- don't know when

:27:41.:27:44.

another one is coming. It is great to see so many kids getting

:27:45.:27:48.

involved. It inspired Andy and Jamie. Davis Cup is special. When

:27:49.:27:54.

you get Andy playing and the atmosphere and we have seen it in

:27:55.:27:59.

the last few matches at home, our support is a joke. I think it is, we

:28:00.:28:04.

are almost, I think we are getting known for that throughout the tennis

:28:05.:28:07.

community, you come to Britain or even if you go away, you're going to

:28:08.:28:11.

have a loud crowd that will go berserk and it won't be favourable

:28:12.:28:16.

to you. No thank you very much. We have run out of time. Kyle Edmund

:28:17.:28:22.

faced a big test today and he came through in incredible fashion. We

:28:23.:28:25.

know we have an outstanding leader in Andy Murray and a solid doubles

:28:26.:28:30.

team, now we have a singles play Torbach up Murray. Well -- to back

:28:31.:28:40.

up Murray. What a career ahead for Kyle Edmund. Goodbye.

:28:41.:29:03.

Oh, God, we can't stop now. SHE CHUCKLES

OK, guys, we're about to go live to the world.
