Third Round Golf: PGA Championship

Hello and welcome. For three decades the great names in golf have been

pitching up here trying to win a premier event. It all adds up to

great memories for these guys in particular.

What a wonderful way to finish the round.

congratulations. We may have been coming to Wentworth

for 30 years but this is in fact the 60th addition of the European

tour's flagship event. Only four men have won it three or more times.

Amongst them, Peter have won it three or more times.

build-up began to watch the stars in action at the Pro-Am event. It was

packed with famous faces. Footballers, Rugby World Cup

winners, a who's who of sporting brilliance. But from Thursday, no

more generous in -- pin positions. The field includes all but one of

the winning European Ryder Cup side. They set out with great purpose on

Thursday. Rory McIlroy has had his problems, but this was the highlight

of an impressive day. An eagle, and something to smile about. Shane

Lowry was also going well. Looking to turn around a grim season. This

was one of ten birdies. Thomas Bjorn grounded out, with ten under,

leaving halfway. -- leading. On this par-5 Rory McIlroy would again make

eagle. And the leading home challenge was from Luke Donald. A 67

leaves him six under, in the hunt. On the way home after missing the

cut: although it does give Paul McGinley

a chance to sit and keep tabs on his potential Ryder Cup team. Luke

Donald has hit his stride. Rory McIlroy could lead to the top of the

world rankings this weekend, Henrik Stenson is on five under, Ian

Poulter is launching a challenge from eight behind. Martin Kaymer won

the players championship a fortnight ago and will still have a chance at

one under. When things began to move after the weather at today, so did

Justin Rose. The US open champion warming up nicely for his defence of

Pinehurst. Anders Hansen of Denmark and the recovery trail after wrist

surgery. He has twice won this event and perfectly judged this tee shot,

a shoo-in for birdie. We could see a lot of Jamie Donaldson today.

Certain of a Ryder Cup place. This birdie took him to four under. Jonas

Blixt of Sweden, renowned for his short game. And no wonder. This

magical shot, moving him to six under. Shane Lowry, Thomas Bjorn,

and Rafa Cabrera-Bello and not due to go out yet. Watching it all

unfold after yet another unsettled start is our commentary team.

A fourth shot for Thomas Bjorn on the opening hole. Heavy sand. A

struggle. Luke Donald on the second spun back down the slope. So close.

Wonderful shot, he may have saved par. Shane Lowry for a birdie at the

first. What his partners would not do to be able to put down a four on

the card. Problem is continuing for Rory McIlroy, this is what he must

contend with on the second. He has done nicely to avoid dropping three

shots on the first two. A very slow putt and a double bogey for Rafa.

All sorts of problems on the first couple of holes for the leading

group is. Thomas Bjorn, this for a bogey. Like those before him, it

would be a double bogey. Not good. Rory McIlroy, yes, relief. Justin

Rose. To go for London... -- to go four under... And he does. Exciting

stuff. All change at the top, Shane Lowry on his own now after Thomas

John's double bogey -- Thomas Bjorn. Henrik Stimson had a few

problems. Tough going in the opening salvos of this round. Birdie in the

bag. Anders Hansen, working hard for par. He loves this course. Loved it

in its previous guys, -- guise, loss of the redevelopment. Very nicely

done. Jamie Donaldson. Second shot on six. Will it come back? Yes. A

good break, this is his third. Delightfully done. Superb. Jamie

Donaldson on six. Just enough pace. That is a champion start from him.

Trouble at the third, you could easily drop multiple shots if you

are too greedy. That is not bad. Not bad at all. Richard Green, at the

10th. Took that well. A neat looking player who should have done better,

but makes a very good living. Anders Hansen. Don't go down the road. It

is OK. It dog its heels in. But just look what he has left himself.

Martin Kaymer, the 10th. And he will. Two under. Anders Hansen has

won this championship twice. This is a horrid shot, he may pull it off

with a miracle... And he has. Shane Lowry. Quickly out of the bunker.

Good recovery. He leads by two. Thomas Bjorn has dropped back to

eight under. Up the hill at the fourth, this for a birdie.

Brilliant. Very awkward, now just for behind. Chris Doak. A Scotsman

coached by Bob Torrance. She will be pleased to see that in the bottom of

Dyson. He has managed it -- Anders Hansen. Look Donald. He has got a

Interesting outfit, all seems to work apart from what he has won his

hand. He went for the dark green on the Masters. A good looking swing as

A lot of people have parted from this side. He has given it a good

Warren who was tied for runner-up 12 months ago, also moving in the right

bunker. That is wild. He has had a few wild at once to the left. He was

Normally very reliable. He was set up to hit a soft draw. Watch how he

through impact. When he is on form, he hits very few bad shots. That was

very tricky to read. As he read it well? It just straightened out, cut

afternoon. The sun is coming out, all is well.

That was not 1 million miles away. Right over the flag.

little bit of safety but that was still a nicely played shot. A round

know. I did not play well the first round. Did not score well. But today

I managed to combine things. I am very happy with my round. The

highlight was the chip at the 17th. The tee is reachable compared with

other days. It was a little firmer than I wanted but was straight

online. Went straight in, which is always nice. You are getting the

measure of the West Coast. There were changes that other players were

not so happy about what I enjoy playing here. -- but I enjoy. Today

is another example of how I like it. You are in a good position for a

strike tomorrow. Thank you. Always difficult to select a club at

the 10th. Par three, 170 five yards. That is perfect, very well judged.

surface. He now leads by four. A par at the 18th, having been in the

water. Nudges it in. Youthful looking lad. And very good score. He

did that without a chaperone. A flourish of birdies for Thomas

second shot. Long iron. He has played a beauty.

Maybe a three quarters five. I know, I did that myself once! I hope he

has got a good lie here, Peter. Up you go! What a result. Now, it

couldn't? ! Look at that! Paid a fortune for those choppers. What a

man, Miss Green by 30 yards and then played a miracle shot like that.

what a difference. It must be his twin brother. This isn't the same

fellow that was walking around three and a half years at -- three and a

half hours ago. 18th and Crist Doak. Seven under. Has got a chance. It

was turning in as well. That is how they stand. Thomas Bjorn striding

away at the moment. Jamie, 68 to day. How do you view the situation

going into the final day at Wentworth? I am in a decent

position. The golf was up and down today, I did not play as well as I

could have done, but I scored well. I held a lot of decent putts when I

needed to. These are exciting times, because since you had your

breakthrough on the European tour, you are doing great things in

America and the European tour. And possibly eyeing up a place on the

Ryder Cup team. What has changed the Jamie Donalson? Family,

responsibility. I have two kids now. You look at life differently. Things

are more important. My goal has been pretty good for a number of years.

Everything has been clicking nicely. I found things worked and I kept

working on them and I have in trying to improve, move up the world

rankings and order of merit is every year. That is what I have been doing

so I am happy with the progress. What sort of the target is a place

on the European cup Ryder Cup team feel? It is massive. I am trying to

play as well as I can each week to hit other targets and let everything

else take care of itself. Not so small target of winning this

tomorrow. Thomas Bjorn. Wonderful, wonderful shot. Skidding out there,

I'll lower trajectory. He could not make it six in a row, could he? This

holed out so well. Not too inviting, this. What has been gathering and

leaves the sound a little bit more sticky. Still, to scoop it up, that

Such a good judge. Plays it magnificently. Coming out of the

rough, not so much spend. Such a good judge of distance with his

short irons. Lying nicely. Still awkward, you

have to give this a bit of zip. A crisp sound.

Six shots is still the lead for Thomas Bjorn. He is not in too much

trouble on the 17th. Rory McIlroy is looking for a birdies to get a

little bit closer. Henrik Stenson did not happen today, one under for

his round coming towards the end. Rory McIlroy for a birdie at the

17th after a wayward tee shot. This would be some birdie if it rolls in.

And it does. Would you believe it? Rory McIlroy has been a little

untidy at times, but he is right there. One round to go, but one hole

left. Donald for a birdie. Yes, well done.

one. And he is renowned for being very good from this distance. That

group tomorrow, obviously depending on what they do, but I think I will

be in the last group tomorrow and that is where I wanted to be. You

know how to win this, how much that this place is associated with

success in your head? 2011 was my best year. Winning here and getting

to number one was a great feeling. I have so many good memories. Coming

back and defending the next year was pretty special. To win here three

times would be very good. I have a tough task ahead of me, Thomas Bjorn

is playing good golf and he has a few shots on me. You

Everything. I did not know what to expect this week and it is not a

golf course I have had much success on, so I did not know what to

expect, but my game has been solid. Mentally, I feel like I have done

pretty well. I have not let any bad shots get to me and I have stayed
