We are right in the middle of golf's competition. Through the | :00:26. | :00:37.
Wallasey tunnel, Royal Birkdale Golf Club is where it is at this weekend. | :00:38. | :00:45.
The 39th event of the British women's open. We have been enjoying | :00:46. | :00:50.
some gorgeous weather is gorgeous venue. Ice cream weather, sunny and | :00:51. | :00:55.
warm, the sea breezes of the Irish Sea have been cooling. Ideal | :00:56. | :00:57.
committee would think for low scoring. Yet, even without its | :00:58. | :01:03.
strongest defence, the wind, the narrow fairways and thick tangling | :01:04. | :01:07.
brass have asked some searching questions of the top professionals, | :01:08. | :01:11.
and quite a few haven't found the right answers. -- ideal, you would | :01:12. | :01:19.
think for low scoring. APPLAUSE -- tangling grass. It is getting | :01:20. | :01:28.
really bad now. It has all been a bit of a struggle. There is to be no | :01:29. | :01:36.
US Open or British open double former shall we. Karrie Webb, | :01:37. | :01:46.
Katrina Matthew, and Katrina Matthew will not be there either. So who is | :01:47. | :01:51.
going to get this claret jug? Perhaps 1 of these names. -- | :01:52. | :02:02.
Catriona Matthew. What a beauty, what an absolutely beautiful putt. A | :02:03. | :02:07.
birdie at the 18th, and a great day for her. Birdie birdie finish, and a | :02:08. | :02:21.
72. At the halfway stage, 31 year old Martin is in pole position with | :02:22. | :02:26.
a healthy 3 shot advantage. Could America be on track to claim the 1st | :02:27. | :02:30.
3 majors in women's golf of the 1st time since 1999? Beatriz Recari got | :02:31. | :02:36.
a birdie on the last 3 yesterday. Alongside her, the former US Open | :02:37. | :02:50.
champion, Ryu. Only 9 players under par so far, and amongst them in the | :02:51. | :02:53.
group that 5 shot of the league is the defending champion and world | :02:54. | :02:57.
number 1 Stacy Lewis of America. And there is a gang of major winners, | :02:58. | :03:08.
all sitting at level par. 2 of the 5 amateurs remain to fight it out this | :03:09. | :03:09.
weekend. Dame Laura Davies is also with us | :03:10. | :03:21.
this weekend, 9 shots off the pace at the start of the day at 3 over | :03:22. | :03:25.
par. Some of the star names have fled the scene already. Major | :03:26. | :03:30.
winners, as you have heard, Catriona Matthew, Christie Kerr, and British | :03:31. | :03:38.
hopefuls Holly Clyburn and Stefanie Meadow. The 2004 champion of this | :03:39. | :03:49.
event, Karen Stupples, is hanging up her spikes. Karen is here to reflect | :03:50. | :03:56.
on that. I saw you yesterday on the 18th, you were a bit upset. You | :03:57. | :04:02.
might start me off again. CHUCKLES How do you reflect on events | :04:03. | :04:07.
yesterday and the way you went out? I look back... I got to the 10th | :04:08. | :04:12.
green, and it really got me thinking about this is the last 9 holes of | :04:13. | :04:17.
golf I was going to play. To be honest, I started thinking about | :04:18. | :04:20.
everything that has happened in my golfing career, all of the fantastic | :04:21. | :04:25.
memories, all of the fantastic people I have met. What a proud | :04:26. | :04:30.
moment. I was really proud to have done what I have Dunkin' doughnuts | :04:31. | :04:34.
many people along the way, that so many friends. | :04:35. | :04:39.
-- done what I have done, met so many people along the way. 10 years | :04:40. | :04:46.
ago we were watching you at Sunningdale. You cannot take that | :04:47. | :04:51.
away from you, you were a great winner, and you did it in style. You | :04:52. | :04:54.
started with an eagle, a perfect start. I knew I wanted to get off to | :04:55. | :05:00.
wait quick 1, but this, 2nd hole, par 5. This was your 2nd shot. I was | :05:01. | :05:08.
completely blind, I did not know where it was going. The cheers got | :05:09. | :05:13.
bigger and bigger. That is when you saw me gave it the jump, when I was | :05:14. | :05:19.
told it went in. Extraordinary, eagle, albatross, never been done | :05:20. | :05:23.
before, and you were a runaway winner by 5. I wonder how often | :05:24. | :05:27.
people remind you of the start of that round, and where they were when | :05:28. | :05:32.
they watched it. It is funny, I get it a lot. Particularly if somebody | :05:33. | :05:35.
has had an albatross, people say, the last 1 I saw was yours at the | :05:36. | :05:41.
2nd hole at Sunningdale. I hear it a lot. It is special at the time. I | :05:42. | :05:45.
did not realise it was happening. It was surreal. You are in the moment. | :05:46. | :05:50.
Looking back on it, I still pinch myself to make sure it was realised | :05:51. | :05:53.
that it happened, and of course it did because I have the trophy at | :05:54. | :05:57.
home. You are part of a select group of winners. Catriona Matthew joint | :05:58. | :06:05.
you later on. It is a select group. -- joined. Which is the proudest | :06:06. | :06:14.
instant moment in your career? It was this, winning the British Open | :06:15. | :06:18.
is huge. In front of my home crowd, and my family, there is no better | :06:19. | :06:23.
achievement. Any emotions that were involved... Because I had a 5 shot | :06:24. | :06:27.
lead going up to the 18th. To be able to enjoy the walk, look at | :06:28. | :06:32.
everybody cheering, it was so, so special. I honestly didn't think it | :06:33. | :06:35.
was something I would ever do. It is something I dream doll. It is the 1 | :06:36. | :06:39.
event I watched as a child growing up. -- dream and old. It was the | :06:40. | :06:46.
only 1 I watched on television. -- dream dreamt of. That is when it hit | :06:47. | :06:54.
home. I thought I could really win this, I could really do it. But then | :06:55. | :07:01.
I got nervous. It didn't show. And all of a sudden you have a new | :07:02. | :07:05.
career, broadcasting opens up for you in the US, which is fantastic. | :07:06. | :07:09.
You are going to walk the walk and talk the talk. And I am going to | :07:10. | :07:15.
make you do that. I am ready. You have played this competitively twice | :07:16. | :07:20.
before. How much bigger is the competition compared with all of | :07:21. | :07:25.
those years ago? It is a hard course. The rough is brutal. It was | :07:26. | :07:30.
up to your waist almost. It is brutal. Once you get into it, | :07:31. | :07:35.
finding the ball is 1 issue, then moving it back out into play, you | :07:36. | :07:39.
have the rough to content with, then you have bunkers which also | :07:40. | :07:43.
strategically placed, and fairways running out quickly. You can run | :07:44. | :07:47.
into those bunkers fast. You have to be strategic with the tee shots. | :07:48. | :07:51.
Even if you hit a 4 iron, all you rescue it from the tee, you can | :07:52. | :07:56.
still be fearful of it catching too much, catching the wrong downslope | :07:57. | :07:59.
and running into the bunkers. That is tough. -- or you rescue. You | :08:00. | :08:06.
don't want to end up in it. You figure you can make par from around | :08:07. | :08:13.
the green. It is out of a lot of players comfort zones. The longer | :08:14. | :08:16.
players particularly. They are used to going in with 8 irons. Here, you | :08:17. | :08:21.
are going in with 5 irons, you're standing there, knowing it is going | :08:22. | :08:24.
to go 220 yards, it is a difficult thing to get your head around. It is | :08:25. | :08:29.
a tough course. Even though the conditions have been easy, imagine | :08:30. | :08:32.
if it had been windy, it would have been carnage. The last few years at | :08:33. | :08:36.
this event it has been windy. Martin has really got control of this. Tell | :08:37. | :08:41.
us more about her, she is 31, from California, 125 in the world | :08:42. | :08:47.
rankings, but what would you say are the hallmarks of her game? She is | :08:48. | :08:52.
known for driving. She is the straightest player on the course. I | :08:53. | :08:55.
think that is what is standing her in good stead. She is used to having | :08:56. | :08:58.
the longer shot into the green, so that is something she is comfortable | :08:59. | :09:02.
with. She's not comfortable with being in the lead of a major | :09:03. | :09:06.
championship. She's never been in this position. She's won 3 times on | :09:07. | :09:10.
the tour. She said in her press conference yesterday that she was | :09:11. | :09:12.
going to try and draw from those experiences. She said a win is a | :09:13. | :09:16.
win. I am going to potentially disagree with that, because this is | :09:17. | :09:19.
a major, and she does not know she has what it takes to win. She will | :09:20. | :09:25.
be hoping she does. Somehow, if she can draw on those experiences to | :09:26. | :09:28.
find that in a strength, just to believe she can do it, she might | :09:29. | :09:34.
have a chance. 3 back, the likes of Beatriz Recari of Spain, she had a | :09:35. | :09:39.
break-out year last year, and this 67 from her in which she got birdies | :09:40. | :09:44.
for the last 3, which was at the time the best performance by anybody | :09:45. | :09:48.
in this championship. She is very small, quite the communities player, | :09:49. | :09:51.
but she seems to have a really big game. -- diminutive player. She has | :09:52. | :10:00.
not got she had in previous years. I don't what we can attribute that to. | :10:01. | :10:03.
She has a new coach, perhaps that has given her confidence. She does | :10:04. | :10:08.
not hit it particularly far, so it is playing into her ballpark of | :10:09. | :10:13.
running the ball onto the Greens, it probably helps her to know she does | :10:14. | :10:17.
not have to hit such long shots into the greens. She likes to draw the | :10:18. | :10:21.
ball, which is an advantage around this golf course. It seems to me | :10:22. | :10:25.
that a lot of the drives seem to be crucial draw is, so it is setting up | :10:26. | :10:32.
for her. -- draws. She really seems to be warming up, she has had top 5 | :10:33. | :10:37.
result in the last two events coming in from Arkansas. She is already a | :10:38. | :10:44.
major winner. To some extent she's been overshadowed by the likes of | :10:45. | :10:50.
Inbee Park, but she is very driven. She is gone and she is loving it. | :10:51. | :10:54.
She goes under the radar because there are no fireworks, she goes | :10:55. | :10:58.
about her business in a quiet, pleasant manner. She gets | :10:59. | :11:02.
overlooked, but she is a US Open champion. And to win those you have | :11:03. | :11:05.
to be pretty good. She is there, ready to pounce, and her game is in | :11:06. | :11:09.
good order. There really is no weakness to her game. That is not | :11:10. | :11:15.
Sarah, she had a great score coming home yesterday, nearly got an eagle | :11:16. | :11:20.
on the 18th. -- Gwladys Nocera. It was a great round from her. A money | :11:21. | :11:28.
winner on the European tour 2008, she won 5 times. She went to the US, | :11:29. | :11:32.
tried her luck on the tour over there, but it didn't work, and she | :11:33. | :11:35.
hasn't really made the breakthrough. But she's come back, how much is | :11:36. | :11:40.
that benefited her game? She obviously feels comfortable in | :11:41. | :11:47.
Europe. Unless you go to and American university, it is quite an | :11:48. | :11:49.
adjustment. You are in an environment where you don't have | :11:50. | :11:52.
many friends about you, you are on your own, it is a dog eat dog world, | :11:53. | :11:56.
you either get on with it and do it, or you hanker for the comforts of | :11:57. | :12:01.
home. I think that is where she falls in, she likes the home life, | :12:02. | :12:04.
she likes being over here in Europe, it's comfortable to her. I imagine | :12:05. | :12:09.
being on the Solheim cup team is very good for her. I have no doubt | :12:10. | :12:16.
she wants to be on it again. There is a lot of the chasing pack, we can | :12:17. | :12:20.
talk about a lot of them, Stacy Lewis, a great challenge. But Inbee | :12:21. | :12:26.
Park, there was so much about her last year, and it is the 26th | :12:27. | :12:37.
birthday today. Just a youngster. -- her 26th birthday. She had the | :12:38. | :12:44.
ranking, her home pressure had to be immense for her to continue to be | :12:45. | :12:48.
the world number 1. When Stacy Lewis crept up on her, the pressure must | :12:49. | :12:52.
have been building. Once she lost it, once she got rid of the number 1 | :12:53. | :12:56.
world ranking and the target on her back was gone, she was able to come | :12:57. | :13:05.
back. She was on fire. She has a new putter, she feels it is the key to | :13:06. | :13:10.
her game. She thinks this will drive her forward. Obviously it is paying | :13:11. | :13:13.
off. She is in contention here. She'd been there before, major | :13:14. | :13:17.
champion, I would not be surprised to see her play well at all. We know | :13:18. | :13:21.
what she is capable of, certainly. 1 woman has shown the way this | :13:22. | :13:26.
morning, 18 -year-old Charley Hull has showed our sport is capable out | :13:27. | :13:30.
on the golf course. Albeit she started with back-to-back bogeys, | :13:31. | :13:35.
she went on a complete charge, picking up shots at the 3rd, 4th, | :13:36. | :13:39.
6th, 7th, and 12, then 3 in a row from the 14th. That 1 was in the | :13:40. | :13:45.
15th. The hot streak continued with her putter at the next 1, the 16th, | :13:46. | :13:51.
which took her to 6 under par. She would give 1 back again at the 17th | :13:52. | :13:56.
with a 3 putt, but she is at the back of the 18th green here, | :13:57. | :14:00.
remember, par 5, and she gave a chance to herself or another 1. She | :14:01. | :14:12.
would take it. -- for another 1. Charley Hull, who started 11 shots | :14:13. | :14:18.
off the lead, now within just 5 of the leaders. When she came off | :14:19. | :14:21.
around 40 minutes ago, this is the woman who leads the way on the | :14:22. | :14:29.
European tour standings, the leading lady, and I caught up with her | :14:30. | :14:34.
afterwards. What a round, 9 birdies, 3 bogeys, and a round of 66. What | :14:35. | :14:40.
did you find today? I started with 2 bogeys. I parted quite well. I hit | :14:41. | :14:52.
it quite close, as well. -- putted. I was working with rhythm. I got | :14:53. | :14:57.
onto the green earlier this morning, working on that, so I was quite | :14:58. | :15:01.
happy. After two bogeys to start with, I still thought if I got | :15:02. | :15:08.
through the 1st two I'm quite happy, because it is only 3 over par. Quite | :15:09. | :15:13.
good, but especially with my 18th yesterday, I was glad to hit the | :15:14. | :15:18.
fairway today. You had your travels at the start and finish of the last | :15:19. | :15:21.
couple of rounds, once you get those two sorted you would be a force to | :15:22. | :15:28.
reckon with. -- troubles. Yes, even when I got my 1st bogey I never | :15:29. | :15:31.
thought I was out of the championship. It is still great to | :15:32. | :15:36.
be in there. If somebody picks up tomorrow, just keep steady. I | :15:37. | :15:39.
actually find these golf courses little bit easier with the wind | :15:40. | :15:44.
because you can ride it, but there is not much wind out there at all | :15:45. | :15:48.
today. I found it easy. You have 1 that your 1st event, in March in | :15:49. | :15:53.
Morocco, I just wonder what confident it has given you. How does | :15:54. | :15:56.
it change you when you approach these big events? I feel I belong on | :15:57. | :16:01.
the tour now. There was all of that talk about me finishing 2nd, being | :16:02. | :16:06.
in the Solheim cup. I wanted to get a victory under my belt. Then it | :16:07. | :16:11.
gave me confidence going into the next major. I finished 7th. Then | :16:12. | :16:15.
going into the final round, I battled, but I let it slip. I got a | :16:16. | :16:20.
lot of confidence from that. I've had some good finishes so far this | :16:21. | :16:24.
year. It is all a bit of a learning experience for me. I will go out | :16:25. | :16:27.
there tomorrow and hopefully do the same. It must be good to show people | :16:28. | :16:34.
hear what you can do. Definitely, especially after yesterday's round, | :16:35. | :16:37.
somebody said this golf course was too hard, but it isn't today. Well | :16:38. | :16:42.
played, thank you berry much. How special a round is that? -- very | :16:43. | :16:48.
much. It has got back into contention, and that is what you | :16:49. | :16:52.
have to do. If you are scraping, you have to come out all guns blazing on | :16:53. | :16:56.
the Saturday because you have nothing to lose. Charley Hull has | :16:57. | :16:59.
nothing to lose. She wants to compete and content, and to do that | :17:00. | :17:03.
she had the number on the board. She is content in her abilities. Quite | :17:04. | :17:07.
rightly too, she is very good. She really took on the golf course | :17:08. | :17:11.
today. She certainly did. The scoring is very good so far. Let me | :17:12. | :17:15.
show you what has been going on. Inbee Park, we mentioned her | :17:16. | :17:22.
earlier, a winner of 3 majors, this is with her 4th birdie of the day, 4 | :17:23. | :17:26.
under par for the day, 4 under par for the championship, and into a | :17:27. | :17:31.
tighter the lead. Martin has dropped two in the 1st opening holes. -- and | :17:32. | :17:37.
in a tie for the lead. They really are moving out there, in very, very | :17:38. | :17:43.
special conditions. Once again, the gentlest of breezes early on, | :17:44. | :17:47.
perhaps the most benign conditions so far. It is warm, humid, and | :17:48. | :17:52.
slightly overcast. And this is the situation, 3 tied at the top. Martin | :17:53. | :18:03.
has had a very nervy start. Julieta Granada just 1 behind her. Now it is | :18:04. | :18:08.
time to get onto the links at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. Good afternoon. | :18:09. | :18:15.
COMMENTATOR: The play today is reflection be good. I don't know why | :18:16. | :18:24.
that is, I think the wind has gone down, the flags are in more generous | :18:25. | :18:28.
conditions. The players know a bit more about the course. Good morning. | :18:29. | :18:41.
Ryu Here, left-hand side of the fairway. 154 to the pin. It will | :18:42. | :18:48.
probably come out soft. The trouble will be getting it back to the pin. | :18:49. | :19:00.
Steady. It should come back... It might come back... No, it has | :19:01. | :19:12.
changed its mind. Lots of birdies, Eagles, all sorts of good stuff | :19:13. | :19:17.
going on this morning. Which is nice to see after the trials and | :19:18. | :19:22.
tribulations of the 1st two days. Final group, and following them is | :19:23. | :19:34.
Ken Brown. It has been a very slow opening couple of holes. Martin, the | :19:35. | :19:41.
overnight leader, she has taken relief from the sprinkler head. | :19:42. | :19:49.
Going with the putter. Martin is not the longest hitter in the world. You | :19:50. | :19:52.
would think this would suit her, but she is pretty dammed accurate, she | :19:53. | :20:10.
gets a low running flight of the -- off the tee. You said she got relief | :20:11. | :20:19.
from the sprinkler head. Yes, there is 1 just close to the green. You | :20:20. | :20:25.
can get relief, and it allowed her to putt it. Well, there you are, she | :20:26. | :20:32.
is struggling. A matter of regrouping, attacking, defending, | :20:33. | :20:34.
not throwing away shots. Up to 5. Good balance. That is a great shot. | :20:35. | :20:57.
Ranked 21st in the world. Plays all of her golf on the Japanese and | :20:58. | :21:03.
Korean tours. She has won 3 times already in Japan this year. Quite an | :21:04. | :21:14.
inviting little birdie chance. The little bit uphill from the right. | :21:15. | :21:19.
The Greens running at a mighty fast pace for a links course. They | :21:20. | :21:25.
probably knew there wasn't going to be much breeze. Very quick. Just | :21:26. | :21:38.
wide. She is a nice looking player, nice, firms swing. Good movement | :21:39. | :21:43.
through the ball. Yes, she has had a bit of injury, so gone off the pitch | :21:44. | :21:48.
this season. But she has been very sound. She has a good looking | :21:49. | :21:49.
action. Inbee Park For par. That is so | :21:50. | :22:12.
unlike her. APPLAUSE Very uncharacteristic. | :22:13. | :22:24.
Taking long time over these shots. They are almost trying too hard. I | :22:25. | :22:35.
know the feeling, I do it myself at times. | :22:36. | :22:45.
Tricky little shot for Ryu. Downhill all the way to the whole. She is | :22:46. | :23:05.
chipping it. -- hole. I would putt it. I guess she has nerves of | :23:06. | :23:19.
steel. A bit wayward, I must say. Coming off the shoulders, not the | :23:20. | :23:24.
easiest of shots. It has left a nasty 1 for par after a nice 2nd | :23:25. | :23:28.
shot. And now, she played it pretty safe | :23:29. | :23:49.
with the 2nd shot, she wasn't having any of this imposition. And her | :23:50. | :23:54.
reward is a very, very straight uphill putt. This is definitely | :23:55. | :23:57.
possible. Good line. Spectacular looking hole, this, | :23:58. | :24:39.
downhill, the green surrounded by bunkers. The green tends to tip the | :24:40. | :24:45.
ball the way of the pin. APPLAUSE | :24:46. | :25:03.
Another sweet shops. Very nicely struck. -- sweet shot. Some hawthorn | :25:04. | :25:21.
bushes behind this. But just over there is the nicest little | :25:22. | :25:29.
clubhouse. A chocolate box white building, quite lovely. There it is, | :25:30. | :25:37.
tucked away in the corner. They are a dying breed in many places, but I | :25:38. | :25:42.
am delighted that some clubs keep them. The best clubhouse in the | :25:43. | :25:43.
country. Mo Martin. Just working it slightly from left | :25:44. | :25:59.
to right. APPLAUSE And it is a good 1. Jess, a good | :26:00. | :26:02.
result, Ken. -- yes. Up on the 5th, tricky right-to-left | :26:03. | :26:29.
slider for Ryu. Very well done indeed. It was a good up and down | :26:30. | :26:34.
from the back slope. This player won the 2011 US Open before she was a | :26:35. | :26:45.
member of the LPGA. At the 18th. This is for birdie for Alex. Another | :26:46. | :26:59.
American player. Now on 68. Good score. APPLAUSE | :27:00. | :27:07.
That is the 6th at this hole. Charley Hull, 66, leading the way | :27:08. | :27:20.
for today's scoring. And trying to finish off and 5. That looked very | :27:21. | :27:31.
tiny. Gee-whiz. That can only be lack of concentration to miss a putt | :27:32. | :27:43.
that short. -- Ahn trying. I don't really believe there was an obstacle | :27:44. | :27:49.
in her way. Up to 6. This is a big par 5, dogleg left-to-right, | :27:50. | :27:57.
elevated green. We have seen two Eagles here today, always a chance | :27:58. | :28:01.
for another 1. Very flat looking green, but they | :28:02. | :28:30.
are all slightly undulating. Quite large. Nice stroke, just stays on | :28:31. | :28:44.
the left. Nice birdie, and time to welcome Tom Abbott, welcome, Tom. | :28:45. | :28:51.
Thank you, Peter. She has been patting very well all week, but not | :28:52. | :28:57.
able to get the pace on that 1. -- putting. Two drop shots. Level par, | :28:58. | :29:07.
1 under, only 3 behind. The player who broke through and 1 for the 1st | :29:08. | :29:12.
time on the LPGA tour at the end of last year. She was a 16 -year-old on | :29:13. | :29:28.
the ladies tour in the past. This is a part. She had a bit of a tangle | :29:29. | :29:37.
with the bunkers. -- par. Granada's mother, as usual, on the bag. She | :29:38. | :29:48.
always carries the big staff bag, Maureen. She is not a very big | :29:49. | :29:54.
lady! Extraordinary. She must be very fit indeed. That is a | :29:55. | :30:10.
disappointment for Granada. Down the slope. It took her a long time to | :30:11. | :30:15.
pick the line. As Peter was saying, they are very tricky greens. Very | :30:16. | :30:32.
hard to read. That is better. It is a dropped shot, however. Sixes are | :30:33. | :30:41.
always ugly. They are not what a professional golfer wants to be | :30:42. | :30:42.
marking down on the card. Beatriz Recari... A little nervy, | :30:43. | :31:11.
these two? I think so. They were trying to be precise with everything | :31:12. | :31:17.
early on. Those opening two holes have been brutal all week. These are | :31:18. | :31:24.
two players who have not played very well this season and now they are on | :31:25. | :31:30.
a huge stage. That is tricky when you have not had the confidence of | :31:31. | :31:32.
playing on this stage before. She read screens magnificently and | :31:33. | :31:58.
rolls the ball so well. -- greens. Mo Martin is an interesting player. | :31:59. | :32:04.
She lost her greatest men to, her grandfather, earlier this year. -- | :32:05. | :32:13.
mentor. We will come back to that as we look at Amelia Lewis. She made an | :32:14. | :32:21.
eagle at six after birdieing five. Open the day with a couple of | :32:22. | :32:25.
dropped shots. She is going along nicely. -- she opened the day. She | :32:26. | :32:29.
is from Jacksonville, Florida. Mo Martin last greatest mentor, her | :32:30. | :32:47.
grandfather, earlier this year. He was 101 years old and was still | :32:48. | :32:50.
coming to the golf course with her when he was 100 years old. She has | :32:51. | :32:56.
relied on him so much. She was so close to him. That is a great old | :32:57. | :33:04.
story. He really inspired her. He would have loved to have been around | :33:05. | :33:15.
to see her here today. 230 yards to the pin here. Hopefully she will be | :33:16. | :33:24.
able to chase it up here. It is heading straight for the bunker. | :33:25. | :33:34.
That will leave her quite a lengthy bunker shot. Never the easiest. | :33:35. | :33:50.
Both of these players gave it a healthy back up here. -- healthy | :33:51. | :34:00.
whack. She may have to chase this in. | :34:01. | :34:16.
If you flying bugs, Mark? I think so, yes. -- there are a few flying | :34:17. | :34:32.
bugs? It is better to stop and start again than be unhappy over the ball. | :34:33. | :34:46.
A good connection. As she posted a fraction? What a great shot. Carried | :34:47. | :34:58.
that along way. A couple of bunkers on the right. She cleared those with | :34:59. | :35:07.
ease. Park for a birdie on the ninth. A very strong front nine from | :35:08. | :35:17.
the world number three. Moving day today and a number of players making | :35:18. | :35:22.
a move through the field. Charley Hull got 66 area today. She made a | :35:23. | :35:36.
two on every one of the par threes. -- earlier today. | :35:37. | :35:46.
A little fairway wood. That should be all right. | :35:47. | :36:05.
Just look at the flight of this and watch how it scurries up the | :36:06. | :36:23.
fairway. It is still visible. Seventh hole, Amy Yang. That will be | :36:24. | :36:29.
a par. She will remain at one under. A long hitter of the golf ball, Amy | :36:30. | :36:55.
Yang. Could be very dangerous over the rest of today and tomorrow. | :36:56. | :37:00.
Somewhat of an underachiever. Wonderful golf swing but maybe has | :37:01. | :37:03.
not put the results together that we would have expected. Still amazing | :37:04. | :37:10.
that she is as young as she is. She started playing when she was 16. A | :37:11. | :37:19.
long bunker shot. The key to these shots is clubhead speed. She | :37:20. | :37:27.
generates a fair amount of speed. But he has to get over a pretty | :37:28. | :37:28.
steep lip. That was not a bad effort at all. | :37:29. | :37:54.
She can have a little bit of a run at the birdie chance. | :37:55. | :38:03.
I thought that was in. So did she. Originally from Paraguay. Now lives | :38:04. | :38:18.
in Orlando in Florida. Many of the players do. Another one of those | :38:19. | :38:27.
players who burst onto the scene as a teenager. Her only win came early | :38:28. | :38:35.
in her career. It was a big one, a first prize cheque. I seem to | :38:36. | :38:43.
remember the million dollars were stacked up in cases on the first | :38:44. | :38:46.
tee. An eagle chance on the sixth. Yes, | :38:47. | :39:17.
glorious second finding the putting surface. Is there much in this one, | :39:18. | :39:33.
Mark? It is uphill a little. She does have the most beautiful rhythm | :39:34. | :39:43.
to her stroke, this girl. It seemed to wander off on her a little bit | :39:44. | :39:45.
from left to right. That is a glorious shot. That will | :39:46. | :40:14.
settle any nerves. 15 feet. Not much on this. Straight | :40:15. | :40:33.
uphill. That feels a bit like a shot | :40:34. | :41:04.
dropped. A lot of players making birdie at the sixth. A few eagles as | :41:05. | :41:10.
well. A fairly decent life for Beatriz Recari. Going with a nine | :41:11. | :41:24.
iron. Good shot. A shiny amateur career, she has had. She has backed | :41:25. | :41:28.
that up with three wins so far in the LPGA. | :41:29. | :41:40.
This is one of those putts that looks awkward. So Yeon Ryu has a | :41:41. | :41:59.
1-shot lead. A very consistent performer. She finished 10th in | :42:00. | :42:05.
Canada. Fifth at the US open. She followed that with another fifth | :42:06. | :42:10.
placed finish a couple of weeks ago. She is a really good form and she is | :42:11. | :42:14.
showing it here. Mo Martin not off to a good start. She had a three | :42:15. | :42:16.
shot lead coming into today. Back to the final peering of Beatriz | :42:17. | :43:03.
Recari and Mo Martin. -- pairing. We have seen the greens dry out during | :43:04. | :43:11.
the week. 11 and 14 tried a bit quicker. Looking more shiny and | :43:12. | :43:21.
burnished as the week has gone by. Is there much in this one, Ken? It | :43:22. | :43:27.
is a little of the hill. It turns a little bit to her right. She is | :43:28. | :43:33.
getting a bit of help from the Cadee. -- from the Cadee. | :43:34. | :44:02.
Struggling to get herself settle. -- settled. Again she is not known as | :44:03. | :44:16.
the quickest player on tour. She is taking her time. As somebody once | :44:17. | :44:25.
said to me, the slowest thing since soil erosion! That is the last three | :44:26. | :44:36.
pots she has stroke that have been absolutely dead on line but just | :44:37. | :44:38.
short. -- putt. Our championship leader. Great part | :44:39. | :44:59.
three this. -- par. The players flying the ball a row of bunkers | :45:00. | :45:04.
they cannot see from the tee. It is so difficult to get the ball to hold | :45:05. | :45:08.
on the screen. That pitching right beside the flag. The green is | :45:09. | :45:14.
pitched away from the tee. Effectively they are landing on a | :45:15. | :45:15.
downslope. She has got an eight iron. That | :45:16. | :45:38.
maybe half a club too big for her. She may have too feathery little one | :45:39. | :45:41.
in there and give it plenty of height. That one has done OK. An | :45:42. | :45:49.
anxious wait until it dropped. That is a very good result. | :45:50. | :46:00.
Mo Martin for a birdie at the fifth. Well done. The first birdie of the | :46:01. | :46:10.
day gets back to one quarter of the round. Tied for the lead. | :46:11. | :46:20.
Birdie putt Ferranti Park -- for Inbee Park. Using a new putter this | :46:21. | :46:36.
week. The putter she used last year in winning her three majors, she had | :46:37. | :46:41.
to change because she wore out the insert. She did not do that on the | :46:42. | :46:46.
course. It must have been her practice. She had so few ports last | :46:47. | :46:49.
year. -- cuts. This hole has given away plenty of | :46:50. | :47:26.
birdies this week. A very fast running fairway. Mo Martin does get | :47:27. | :47:35.
this amazing flight. The boulders and carry very far but it runs. -- | :47:36. | :47:49.
the ball does not carry very far. Would you say her golf is suited to | :47:50. | :47:59.
links play? It does. She is pretty Fat of the tee. -- fast. Mo Martin | :48:00. | :48:09.
struggled to establish itself on the LPGA. She did win three tournaments | :48:10. | :48:16.
on the futures tour. She is making steady progress. But with a low ball | :48:17. | :48:23.
flight it is difficult to play well in America. 270 yards to reach the | :48:24. | :48:38.
far bunker on the left. Quite a testing drive. | :48:39. | :48:46.
The joint leader, second at the par three. She will have that to remain | :48:47. | :49:19.
at two under for the day, five under for the championship. She has got a | :49:20. | :49:26.
lot of logos on that shirt. She has got logos on logos! Very well | :49:27. | :49:39.
supported, the championship this year, Maureen. People are enjoying | :49:40. | :49:46.
the weather, enjoying the golf. Great crowds. Staying on late in the | :49:47. | :49:50.
past couple of evenings as well. They know their golf around this | :49:51. | :49:53.
neck of the woods and they really appreciate golf. After that | :49:54. | :50:02.
beautiful tee shot, this six footer for birdie. The wind has picked up a | :50:03. | :50:16.
little bit and it is to her left. It did not looked -- she did not look | :50:17. | :50:26.
too convincing over the ball. Disappointing that she did not take | :50:27. | :50:30.
advantage of that beautiful tee shot. She remains in a tie for | :50:31. | :50:36.
fourth macro. -- fourth. Four the store company on that number. -- | :50:37. | :50:41.
others. 17 years of age from New Zealand. A | :50:42. | :51:09.
youngster with a huge amount of potential. She has played so well in | :51:10. | :51:13.
the early stages of her professional career. A little tester. Oh, two | :51:14. | :51:29.
pacey. It has got to be right in the centre of the whole. -- hole. I have | :51:30. | :51:42.
to say, the players nowadays our very good at looking on concerned | :51:43. | :51:47.
when they make mistakes like that. I used to be fuming. Maybe that is | :51:48. | :51:55.
where I went wrong! Amy Yang for a bogey at the eighth. Just the one | :51:56. | :52:05.
shot dropped for Amy Yang. It was her third bogey of the day. The | :52:06. | :52:09.
players have struggled on the opening couple of holes. A number of | :52:10. | :52:17.
players playing well on the front nine. The wind is just freshening a | :52:18. | :52:33.
little bit. Quite a day for Charley Hull earlier, wasn't it? Yes, it was | :52:34. | :52:42.
great stuff. She has the firepower. Neither of these to players have got | :52:43. | :52:48.
the beef in their shots. I talked to Charley Hull afterwards and she said | :52:49. | :52:51.
she would rather play tree-lined golf, that she struggles with links | :52:52. | :53:00.
golf. Another one racing out, this time for Granada. The greens | :53:01. | :53:14.
just... Charley Hull likes to visualise the shots. Bunkers on the | :53:15. | :53:22.
left. Bunkers up the right. Just playing for position. Downwind. That | :53:23. | :53:27.
is absolutely perfect. She has taken the shortest route. | :53:28. | :53:56.
228 to the pin. The flag is on 23. You like this play, Ken? I do. She | :53:57. | :54:07.
is right on the limit. Drifting right. The first bounce in the rough | :54:08. | :54:15.
slowed it down a fraction. She should be above ground. Not leaking | :54:16. | :54:25.
into the right-hand bunker. She seems to be settling down. To VA. -- | :54:26. | :54:35.
to the eighth. That was a very fortunate break. She | :54:36. | :54:56.
could have been in also to have trouble. It may have been | :54:57. | :55:07.
non-playable, you never know. Well played by Laura Cremer. She has been | :55:08. | :55:16.
gently tiptoeing along. -- Paula Creamer. She has always got a good | :55:17. | :55:25.
grounding her. Amelia Lewis with her second. | :55:26. | :55:44.
We go back to that final pairing. Beatrice record laying up. -- | :55:45. | :55:59.
Beatrice record. This is where the championship is won or lost for the | :56:00. | :56:05.
top players in the world. Yes, this is very much Beatrice Reka's game. | :56:06. | :56:11.
When she guessed -- gets a wedge in her hand, she is normally dynamite. | :56:12. | :56:16.
She has not played so well this year with a mixture of injuries, which | :56:17. | :56:22.
forced her to the better swing, wish you now want to. | :56:23. | :56:39.
An extra hop that she could have done without. | :56:40. | :56:58.
Park with her second. I was out on the practice ground this morning | :56:59. | :57:06.
watching a lot of the players warming up. Inbee Park had an | :57:07. | :57:13.
inflatable teddy bear that she held between her elbows as she hid her | :57:14. | :57:21.
pitched shot. Yes, she is endorsing the product. I was talking about it | :57:22. | :57:37.
yesterday with her. The eighth fairway. 144 yards to the front. 172 | :57:38. | :57:58.
the pain. -- pin. I think she has got a six iron. | :57:59. | :58:13.
Another good strike. The camera angle belying just how much uphill | :58:14. | :58:33.
that is. A beautiful shot. Mo Martin with her third at the sixth. | :58:34. | :58:46.
She is ten yards nearer. Hitting a long club. These two a really good | :58:47. | :59:03.
strikers. Very impressed so far. -- are really good strikers. Nice time | :59:04. | :59:19.
to welcome by the Peter Aliss. Thank you, Tom. It is exciting. We are | :59:20. | :59:24.
worried about a little rain that make come in later in the day. Here | :59:25. | :59:30.
is Lewis looking very colourful. A birdie attempt at the 12th. She's | :59:31. | :59:43.
two under. Drifted right. The greens every slate. Even the shortest of | :59:44. | :59:51.
putts, you have to be aware that such strength, direction. -- of its | :59:52. | :59:59.
strength. You do not just go and whack them in. | :00:00. | :00:12.
I was talking to Inbee Park yesterday and she felt she had done | :00:13. | :00:18.
enough. She felt level par was a good position to be in. She said she | :00:19. | :00:23.
would attack today and try to win this championship. She has put | :00:24. | :00:28.
together a good day so far. Mo Martin to go six under par. She | :00:29. | :00:58.
it is really a not overpowering the course, or | :00:59. | :02:20.
down into a little valley. Is about an hour and a half and they are just | :02:21. | :02:25.
tapping in on the sixth. It is not exactly Speedy Gonzales. | :02:26. | :02:50.
It is going to be a par at the eighth. As Maureen mentioned, she | :02:51. | :02:59.
won the US women's open in 2011. It was a weak blighted by the weather. | :03:00. | :03:03.
Thunderstorms every day. It went into a Monday finish. | :03:04. | :03:21.
That was a little tickle down the hill. Started that way too wide. | :03:22. | :03:40.
Another par. Still very much in the hunt. | :03:41. | :03:55.
She started with a couple of fives. Four twos. She must be copying the | :03:56. | :04:07.
footprint of re-Michael Roy. He does that kind of thing. She has done it | :04:08. | :04:18.
in reverse. -- Rory McIlroy. She makes her par. One behind Mo Martin. | :04:19. | :04:33.
The knob on the left side of the blocks. Going with a nine iron. It | :04:34. | :04:48.
is a pretty shallow green. Ride online. -- that was right online. | :04:49. | :05:20.
This screen has seen a bit of drama over the years. | :05:21. | :05:24.
This screen has seen a bit of drama over the -- this green. A bit of | :05:25. | :05:32.
argy-bargy about putts. Many people think golf is a quiet game. There | :05:33. | :05:37.
has been quite a bit of aggro and drama over the years. | :05:38. | :06:05.
iron. -- Beatriz Recari. Steady. Just had to come over that little | :06:06. | :06:12.
shoulder. Quite a delicate chip back. Between them, they have the | :06:13. | :06:19.
right club. 2nd at the 11th for Amelia Lewis. Short par 4, 350 2 | :06:20. | :06:33.
yards. -- 352 yards. Coming back towards the putting surface, that is | :06:34. | :06:35.
actually going to work out quite well. Granada. Looks good if it | :06:36. | :07:01.
runs. It just ran out of speed. Annoying, very annoying. APPLAUSE | :07:02. | :07:15.
6-over par, made the cut, only 70 runners. I thought the field would | :07:16. | :07:18.
be considerably more than that, the scoring was so close. But was | :07:19. | :07:23.
yesterday afternoon, at the back of the field. -- that was. | :07:24. | :07:37.
It is picture perfect here at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. Mo Martin, from | :07:38. | :07:43.
California, she has found out where the widest part of the fairway word. | :07:44. | :07:47.
That would be the best approaches into the greens. They spent a lot of | :07:48. | :07:51.
time casing the joint, pardon the expression. She does not hit | :07:52. | :07:55.
particularly long, so capitalising on her accuracy. That has been a | :07:56. | :07:59.
game plan all week, which is worked out well for them. Dropped some | :08:00. | :08:04.
shots at the 1st and 2nd. Still with a 1-shot advantage. This is the 1st | :08:05. | :08:08.
time, of course, she has ever led a Major championship in her career. | :08:09. | :08:13.
She has a pack of former winners hot on her heels. Suzann Pettersen is | :08:14. | :08:24.
very much in the hunt in that group of four at 2-under par. Charley Hull | :08:25. | :08:28.
has shown the way today, wonderful round of 66 for the 18 -year-old | :08:29. | :08:34.
from Kettering. There was a run of 3 birdies for her, and she really has | :08:35. | :08:37.
shown us a glimpse of what she is capable of. As we look further down, | :08:38. | :08:47.
our overnight leader, Uehara, and she followed it up well into the 70s | :08:48. | :08:50.
the next day. She had terrible trouble is after. Effectively sunk | :08:51. | :08:56.
without trace. That is what Royal Birkdale Golf Club can do to you if | :08:57. | :09:00.
you get it wrong. The fairway is very narrow. -- the fairways very | :09:01. | :09:08.
narrow. With these conditions the greens are really drying out | :09:09. | :09:17.
quickly. Getting very quick. Beatriz Recari, just over the back of the | :09:18. | :09:21.
green. Is that a bad place to miss it? She might be all right. You | :09:22. | :09:27.
really don't see it with these cameras, but there is enough room to | :09:28. | :09:31.
let it run up to the hole. But you have to play it at the right place, | :09:32. | :09:35.
you have to get it moving gently. Lofted it in the air, moving quite | :09:36. | :09:39.
nicely, and she has got an excellent result there. Excellent shot. So | :09:40. | :09:42.
easy to leave at 5 feet away, and miss it. She dropped a shot on the | :09:43. | :09:50.
short par 3. You can get very cross when that happens. Suzann Pettersen, | :09:51. | :10:00.
trying to save par at the 13th. 1st shot gone today. She has made a good | :10:01. | :10:09.
move. Started the day at 1-over. 7 shots behind. Now, she drops back. | :10:10. | :10:17.
APPLAUSE 1-under the championship, and she is | :10:18. | :10:21.
four back. Had some injury problems early in the year, some issues with | :10:22. | :10:27.
her back. She was laid out the 3 weeks with severe back problems. | :10:28. | :10:30.
Thankfully, she has come through those. Inbee Park at the 12th. | :10:31. | :10:39.
Rattled in off the left-hand bank. And that isn't too shabby. She is at | :10:40. | :10:44.
it again. That will bring a smile to your chops excavation -- to your | :10:45. | :11:01.
chops! That was very good. Just this 1st 5 feet or so uphill. Going into | :11:02. | :11:08.
the valley. It is easy to get a good lie on the pace. Not bad. In Charley | :11:09. | :11:23.
Hull's round, she had four 2 is -- twos. Doesn't happen very often. It | :11:24. | :11:29.
doesn't, I only remember it happening 1 other time. APPLAUSE | :11:30. | :11:47.
APPLAUSE Plays on the LPGA Tour, and the | :11:48. | :11:54.
ladies European Tour. She is playing her trade all around the world. 118 | :11:55. | :12:05.
to the pin for Ryu. Big shot. Aggressive play. Should give her a | :12:06. | :12:11.
birdie chance, it looks good. Stop, though, it has just got the extra | :12:12. | :12:15.
spin, skipped over the back, and stopped halfway down the hill. But, | :12:16. | :12:22.
very hard hole when there is any wind about. A lot of rough on the | :12:23. | :12:27.
right-hand side. You can see the elevated green. When the wind is up | :12:28. | :12:32.
it sweeps across the 4. Always very pleased to get off here with a four. | :12:33. | :12:48.
-- it sweeps across the hole. To the 18th. The very precocious | :12:49. | :13:09.
talent from New Zealand, Ko. Again, a number of parts just short, it is | :13:10. | :13:18.
a problem. -- putts. 69, good score. APPLAUSE | :13:19. | :13:33.
Paula Creamer, she will tap this 1 in. Very elegant lady. 71. APPLAUSE | :13:34. | :13:43.
. 1 of the Tees near to the beach. You | :13:44. | :14:09.
can smell it in the air. 3 down the right, 1 on the left. You have 2 | :14:10. | :14:15.
keep it close to the left if you want to get a decent tee shot. -- | :14:16. | :14:31.
you have to. She reminds me of the sweeps of Harry Weicker. He used to | :14:32. | :14:43.
get a couple of cracking ones. He used to run through in conditions | :14:44. | :14:46.
like this. She tends to get this sort of flight. She does get a low 1 | :14:47. | :15:00.
on occasion, which is very effective and links golf. Just failed to | :15:01. | :15:05.
control that 1 out of the semi- rough. Just went on a date. But this | :15:06. | :15:14.
putt is not overly taxing. -- just went on a bit. Looks good. APPLAUSE | :15:15. | :15:26.
He loves his golf, but he likes playing the other game with that | :15:27. | :15:31.
funny shaped ball. You all know who he is, Sir Clive Woodward. A good | :15:32. | :15:40.
player, I believe. Should be 9. APPLAUSE | :15:41. | :15:49.
I remember, he did some work with Melissa Reid. Did he? Working on | :15:50. | :15:55.
preparation, and I think mental approach to the game. He is a great | :15:56. | :15:59.
motivator, Clive. Yang. 3rd shot, and not a bad 1. Who said | :16:00. | :16:26.
not bad? Darned good. APPLAUSE 25 the 4 birdie. Touch left to | :16:27. | :16:29.
right. But a definite opportunity here, she has come close in the last | :16:30. | :16:31.
few greens. You cannot get much closer without | :16:32. | :16:44.
going in. A couple of short putts missed, and no luck on the long | :16:45. | :16:59.
ones. She is hanging on. APPLAUSE -- 25 feet birdie. | :17:00. | :17:12.
A quick reminder of the significant moments that have seen the lead in | :17:13. | :17:17.
the championship chop and change in the last few moments. Mo Martin, 2nd | :17:18. | :17:21.
to the 5th, setting up the birdie chance to go 5-under par. The world | :17:22. | :17:29.
ranked 125th in the world, best in a Major, just 1 top 30, and that was | :17:30. | :17:34.
earlier this year. An unexpected name at the top. Ryu, going for her | :17:35. | :17:41.
5th win since becoming a professional in 2001. She dropped on | :17:42. | :17:45.
the next 1 to go to 4-under par. Inbee Park this is the 12, birdie, | :17:46. | :17:52.
deadly with the putter. She dropped off the pace a little bit earlier | :17:53. | :17:56.
this year and the putter, but she is back and how. She won 6 events last | :17:57. | :18:02.
year. 3 of the Majors, and the 1st Korean to win the LPGA Tour Player | :18:03. | :18:07.
of the Year award. Some very, very good company for Mo Martin at the | :18:08. | :18:12.
top. She is holding her own so far at the women's British Open. | :18:13. | :18:21.
A little problem here. A little bit of an upslope. Nice lie. Plenty on | :18:22. | :18:38.
this green to run the ball on. Got to be a bit of a rocket launcher. 1 | :18:39. | :18:44.
of the hybrid clubs. Bunkers left and right. This is an occasion where | :18:45. | :18:50.
you don't want to hit it too far. If you can swing smoothly and get the | :18:51. | :18:56.
ball shooting low, it will run. More of a chance of chasing it than | :18:57. | :19:03.
lofting it all the way. Spot on, she also has to go a little bit down the | :19:04. | :19:08.
shaft. She does not want the club tangled up. It is easy to take it | :19:09. | :19:13.
left. I think if she can get less loft on it she would take it, but | :19:14. | :19:20.
she has just got to take it out of here. It is bound to go a little bit | :19:21. | :19:25.
higher than she would like. She has got a chance. She certainly got it | :19:26. | :19:36.
away. It flew up. Not a real chaser, but it looks a beauty. And it is. | :19:37. | :19:40.
That is a great strike. Good balance. Do not go too far. No, it | :19:41. | :19:45.
is all right. Excellent. Norway's Suzann Pettersen. 2nd at | :19:46. | :20:04.
the 14th. And with the putter from off the green. Looks like a good | :20:05. | :20:09.
decision. APPLAUSE Almost going in. It is a golf which | :20:10. | :20:19.
is pretty alien to players from the US. They quickly get used to it. Mo | :20:20. | :20:26.
Martin putting from about 30 yards off the 18th green early in the | :20:27. | :20:33.
week. Inbee Park at the 13th. Slowly back, and smack it. That will be | :20:34. | :20:41.
good if it comes a little bit more, a little bit more. Excellent shot. I | :20:42. | :20:55.
say. 50,000 miles of beach and you come to the golf course to | :20:56. | :20:58.
sunbathe. I suppose that is the new trend. Perfect tee shot. 7-iron. The | :20:59. | :21:09.
flag. You have to use the contours to bring the ball into the flag. -- | :21:10. | :21:25.
166 to the flag. Very pedestrian. Very kind. She is the walking | :21:26. | :21:35.
official with this final pairing. CHUCKLES | :21:36. | :21:42.
I bet he jumps into a puddle with a pair of new shoes and, as well -- | :21:43. | :21:52.
new shoes on, as well. This is for birdie. 17th hole. Well done. Bit of | :21:53. | :22:04.
a struggle. She still gave it a good old hit. Amelia Lewis at the 12th. | :22:05. | :22:29.
This is for birdie. APPLAUSE I have seen quite a few defensive | :22:30. | :22:34.
putts. Very many, nearly everyone has been short. I can understand | :22:35. | :22:37.
that when the greens are travelling at this speed. Just an extra 3 feet | :22:38. | :22:45.
of speed on these putts. No more than that. Otherwise we would see a | :22:46. | :22:57.
lot more go in. Birdie and an eagle. That brighten things up after | :22:58. | :23:01.
dropping two strokes on the 1st two holes. -- brightened. A bit of | :23:02. | :23:16.
trouble here. Trying to scramble. That was a 4th shot. Under the | :23:17. | :23:23.
weather little bit today, Jessica. And a little bit under the weather | :23:24. | :23:27.
and this hole. There have been some problems with those grass banks. | :23:28. | :23:35.
From the US, the daughter of Peter Gordon, a tennis great. Couple of | :23:36. | :23:42.
wins on the LPGA Tour. She won Australia couple of years ago, she | :23:43. | :23:46.
won the season-opening event in the Bahamas, which is a lovely place to | :23:47. | :23:59.
kick things off. -- Peter Korda. I wonder if her father tried to | :24:00. | :24:02.
encourage her to play tennis, or even discouraged her. I'm sure she | :24:03. | :24:06.
has had a lovely life travelling with him. Ahn has a 7-iron. Uphill, | :24:07. | :24:16.
into about 7 or 8 yards of breeze. It has got to be a mighty hit with a | :24:17. | :24:19.
7-iron. Just on the very edge. Almost level | :24:20. | :24:47.
with the flag. Uphill all the way from Martin. Runaway. APPLAUSE | :24:48. | :25:10.
Another 1 of those defensive putts. Well, she was a long way away, so | :25:11. | :25:14.
you can't say that. In fact, it was well judged. APPLAUSE | :25:15. | :25:22.
Back to leading by 1. 113 to the pin. Ryu hit it a long | :25:23. | :25:40.
way up here. I think she is not too sure what the wind is doing, not too | :25:41. | :25:44.
sure if she will get a flyer. I think she had a 9-iron. | :25:45. | :26:15.
Much easier looking shot, if you can see into the heart of the green. But | :26:16. | :26:28.
that was not a very good 1. Her caddy's name is Tom Watson. Tom | :26:29. | :26:35.
Watson? That is not a bad name. If the player, Tom Watson. Beatriz | :26:36. | :26:42.
Recari for a very long birdie putt. -- good player, Tom Watson. You | :26:43. | :26:50.
choose the wrong hole to do that and you end up with 1 of these coming | :26:51. | :27:04.
back. 13th hole, Inbee Park, a birdie to get to 5-under par. Inbee | :27:05. | :27:14.
Park, close to tying the lead. She does not show much emotion on the | :27:15. | :27:20.
golf course. But she has told me in the past that she gets nervous, gets | :27:21. | :27:23.
excited, she is feeling it, but she just does not show it. The work | :27:24. | :27:31.
ethic, I don't know if it is the same for the Asian women who play | :27:32. | :27:36.
golf, but I have read almost horrendous stories about the time | :27:37. | :27:44.
they spend chipping, and parting from an early age. -- putting. Is | :27:45. | :27:53.
that to your knowledge, as well? We have seen the American players | :27:54. | :27:56.
coming back into the frame. They were spurred on by the Solheim cup | :27:57. | :28:00.
performance, from the Europeans at the end of last year when they got | :28:01. | :28:03.
beaten for the 1st time on home soil. The Europeans came over and | :28:04. | :28:09.
beat them at Colorado golf club. I think for a long time players from | :28:10. | :28:13.
Europe and the US were bored of people saying, why are you not | :28:14. | :28:18.
beating the Asian players? And it's spurred them on. It became a talking | :28:19. | :28:26.
point. -- it spurred them on. Beatriz Recari for par. Well done. | :28:27. | :28:29.
APPLAUSE Suzann Pettersen at the 15th. Hard | :28:30. | :28:50.
hole. Took its toll yesterday. Waiting for 15 minutes on this hole. | :28:51. | :28:55.
There was talk of slow play. Could not do anything about it. It is 1 of | :28:56. | :28:59.
the wonders of the golfing world for me. Nothing will happen until the | :29:00. | :29:07.
players choose to speed it up. It does not matter how much fiddling | :29:08. | :29:13.
about happens. The players themselves have to have a meeting | :29:14. | :29:17.
and decided they are not happy about it. Happens in all sports, in | :29:18. | :29:24.
cricket, they bowl lots of overs, in tennis they play lots of six, it is | :29:25. | :29:30.
just becoming very tedious. The supporters pay a lot of money to | :29:31. | :29:36.
watch it. You are looking aghast. I am not, I agree and I hang on to | :29:37. | :29:41.
your every word. Tell that to Charlie! CHUCKLES | :29:42. | :29:52.
The Texas wedge again for Ryu. Always difficult to judge the pace | :29:53. | :29:56.
when you come across different lengths of grass. Could have done | :29:57. | :30:06.
with a touch more. She has suddenly been struggling. And our ago she was | :30:07. | :30:10.
going along quite joyously, then misjudgements around the green... | :30:11. | :30:16.
They have not put her out of it yet, but it has put her under unnecessary | :30:17. | :30:28.
strain, I feel. Just pulling up short. Cast-iron four. | :30:29. | :31:03.
No wonder they take all day to play. Not only be women. The men are | :31:04. | :31:13.
even worse. The cavalry is arriving. She has driven into a ditch. Or he | :31:14. | :31:22.
has. There is life everywhere. The great tapestry of life. You get out | :31:23. | :31:25.
and push it and I'll put my foot under it. | :31:26. | :31:35.
Beautifully done. The third time in four holes she has been over the | :31:36. | :31:47.
green but got away with it. Just one behind. She seems to have had a few | :31:48. | :31:57.
opportunities. She is cheery though. Come on, you can do it. Oh, she is | :31:58. | :32:06.
waiting for him. Not quite finished yet. Run out of gas, maybe. Those | :32:07. | :32:19.
women drivers! Saviour postage stamps! -- save your postage stamps! | :32:20. | :32:29.
Yes, but Peter, he probably put in the problem in the first place. I | :32:30. | :32:34.
don't know where they are going now. I wouldn't go in there. You might | :32:35. | :32:45.
find Tarzana. -- Tarzan. Shergar! Lord Lucan! Here we are, back to | :32:46. | :32:51.
reality and sanity. A lucky bounce there for Amelia | :32:52. | :33:06.
Lewis. This 13th as moved itself into the number one position for a | :33:07. | :33:13.
whole is ranked in difficulty. This is like one of those Scottish | :33:14. | :33:17.
rallies. I don't know where I know she is going. Perhaps she is on | :33:18. | :33:33.
Safari. I wouldn't go in there if I were you. There are crocodiles in | :33:34. | :33:38.
another hundred yards. Where on earth is he going? I don't think he | :33:39. | :33:46.
has been on a golf course before. All you need now is to clip a couple | :33:47. | :33:49.
of old age pensioners and you have got the jackpot. Granada out on the | :33:50. | :33:57.
peaceful calm of the 12th tee. That one will skip off the back. It | :33:58. | :34:26.
is pretty much pin hi. -- hi. Suzann Pettersen at the 15th. You have got | :34:27. | :34:36.
to be careful here. You do not want to lay it far. This looks as if she | :34:37. | :34:42.
is going to I could only about 80 or 90 yards. -- going to whack it. | :34:43. | :35:07.
173. Perfect. Two loops of nine here at Royal Birkdale. The first and | :35:08. | :35:35.
ninth near the clubhouse. She has taken an eternity to decide what to | :35:36. | :35:40.
do here. I have a feeling, going on the form of the last couple of | :35:41. | :35:42.
holes, she is going to be aggressive. She will probably be | :35:43. | :35:51.
trying to smack it over the bunker. She is leaning like she has hit it | :35:52. | :35:55.
right. Way up there. Absolute beauty. | :35:56. | :36:12.
Mo Martin finding the heart of yet another green. After a slightly | :36:13. | :36:24.
nervy bogey, bogey start, she has done well. Not really accustomed to | :36:25. | :36:28.

Crisply struck by Suzann Pettersen. Slightly wayward. Nice reception | :37:27. | :37:40.

cannot see it! Well, we can see it. Good putt from Lewis. She plays both | :37:54. | :38:25.
tours. She is a travelling American. Back to the ninth green. The final | :38:26. | :38:36.
pair. They started at 12:35pm. They have been about two hours. In modern | :38:37. | :38:43.
parlance that is not too bad. But in days gone by it would be considered | :38:44. | :38:45.
rather slow. This is one of the more exposed | :38:46. | :39:18.

Sometimes the ball seems to hobble off the face and bobbles a little | :39:28. | :39:38.
bit. Another one short. That is where the old expression, never up, | :39:39. | :39:40.

counts for a lot. The greens are drying out. There is | :40:03. | :40:56.
a little noise when it bounces -- when the ball bounces. A little bit | :40:57. | :41:02.
of a bite. Mo Martin for a birdie at the ninth. Time and time again we | :41:03. | :41:22.
have seen them online. Nine holes completed. After a shaky start, not | :41:23. | :41:24.
bad at all. She leads by one. Interesting. Mary Poppins. Laura | :41:25. | :41:35.
from the back of the 18th. Laura Davies in her 30th appearance | :41:36. | :42:30.
in the championship. Emma Talley, the reigning US amateur champion, is | :42:31. | :42:34.
three over today. Four over for the championship. Georgia Hall, six over | :42:35. | :42:42.
today. She is three shots behind Emma Talley of the United States. | :42:43. | :42:49.
That is in the race for the Smiths solver. | :42:50. | :43:52.
Oh, Suzanne. That was not very long at all. Perhaps that is why she has | :43:53. | :44:05.
only won two majors, Maureen. This fairy tales a left to right. The | :44:06. | :44:08.
wind is also going from left to right. | :44:09. | :44:28.
This is a diabolically fiendish pin position. Dreamt up by a | :44:29. | :44:38.
particularly troubled mind, I think. She has taken a minute and a half to | :44:39. | :44:48.
have a look at it. A little softer and that was good. But now she has | :44:49. | :44:50.
left herself a tweaker. Our little butterfly. This looks | :44:51. | :45:23.
about the same length as the one that Suzanne has just missed. | :45:24. | :45:53.
Straight back up the hill. Right-to-left. Array! That is more | :45:54. | :46:11.
like it. Just made it. It looks like anything that finish left of that | :46:12. | :46:15.
hole was seriously difficult? Absolutely right, Maureen. It was | :46:16. | :46:19.
not easy to tell from the fairway that it was white -- right in the | :46:20. | :46:22.
rich. -- reach. Not a very attacking putt from | :46:23. | :46:44.
Lewis. She opened with a couple of bogeys. Birdied five, got an eagle | :46:45. | :46:51.
at six. And she has had a string of Pars since. Very confident | :46:52. | :46:55.
performance from the American. Currently joint fourth place, three | :46:56. | :47:08.
behind the leader. Just pacey. Look where that has gone too. -- to. A | :47:09. | :47:18.
reasonable second and you have now got a hefty putt for a five. Mo | :47:19. | :47:28.
Martin going to find that her lead is going to extend. She is going to | :47:29. | :47:43.
drop at least one shot here. She is joint second with Inbee Park, two | :47:44. | :47:45.
behind Mo Martin. The wind is slightly freshening. It | :47:46. | :48:05.
is getting a little cooler. Darkening clouds above us. | :48:06. | :48:25.
She is beautifully immersed in simply playing her own game. If you | :48:26. | :48:33.
have got your own game, and hers is very individual, you have got to do | :48:34. | :48:45.
that. Laura at the 18th. This is for a birdie. 72. It is in! Well done. | :48:46. | :48:55.
Two birdies in the last four holds for Laura Davies. -- the last four | :48:56. | :49:01.

She is swinging well now. Stacy Lewis with her second shot | :49:24. | :49:51.
into 17. Birdied the last. Level par for the championship. That is going | :49:52. | :49:54.
to be gobbled up by the greedy bunker. That is her day 's work. | :49:55. | :50:07.
Three birdies, a couple of dropped shots. | :50:08. | :50:14.
She will not be far-away at the end of the day. | :50:15. | :50:35.
159 to this pin. She gives it a mighty clubber. It has just rolled | :50:36. | :50:44.
off the back left. Not too bad. If you were playing there, Mark, | :50:45. | :51:06.
what would you hit of this tee? I would hit probably an eight iron. | :51:07. | :51:16.
Yes. It is a fair old right. -- ride. I don't think I have ever | :51:17. | :51:20.

tent. Mo Martin. Birdie opportunity. Yes, and it is one, too. | :52:27. | :52:39.
Well done! Perfect speed. Perfect line. I think the best putting | :52:40. | :52:50.
exhibition I have ever seen here was Ian Baker-Finch when he won the open | :52:51. | :52:57.

far today. Well, it is very much a case of as | :53:27. | :53:44.
you were, with Mo Martin re-establishing her three shot lead. | :53:45. | :53:53.
This is for Beatriz Recari to reduce the deficit. Just a hair of movement | :53:54. | :54:09.
from left to right. Well done. Looking at this 11th pin, it looks | :54:10. | :54:13.
as if it is leaning out of the green. It is a very fruity position. | :54:14. | :54:17.
I have never seen one leaning over on the putting surface. | :54:18. | :54:32.
25 feet uphill. A touch of fade on this. The course owes her. Just miss | :54:33. | :54:46.

This is an awkward one. It may not be too bad. She is very close to the | :55:03. | :55:22.
front. A little too sharp. If it was left of the pin it might have rolled | :55:23. | :55:29.
back to the hole. They should not be much in this one after that | :55:30. | :55:33.
beautiful tee shot. Absolutely correct. Basically straight uphill. | :55:34. | :55:44.
It was a marvellous tee shot. Second place on her own. The two behind | :55:45. | :55:57.
Martin. The Americans would call that a great ability to bounce back. | :55:58. | :56:04.
It is setting up nicely for tomorrow, Maureen. There will be a | :56:05. | :56:08.
good clutch of players within four shots, maybe five. Yes, the biggest | :56:09. | :56:16.
mover of the day, Charley Hull, has moved herself from five over to one | :56:17. | :56:19.
under. She is currently enjoying seven. Nine players under par as we | :56:20. | :56:28.
speak. There are the score is going through at the bottom. You can pick | :56:29. | :56:29.
out your favourite players. Our leader. Mo Martin 11th tee. | :56:30. | :56:59.
Little drainage ditches, dry ditches, left and right. I am sure | :57:00. | :57:05.
they have not filled them in over the years. Place-macro. -- Beatriz | :57:06. | :57:17.
Recari. A bit right, is it? Going little down the right. Yes. It may | :57:18. | :57:32.
not be too bad. Suzann Pettersen on 16. | :57:33. | :57:44.
She wants to erase the nasty memory of the six on the last. She started | :57:45. | :58:00.
the ball to straight at that pace. She remains at level par. We were | :58:01. | :58:07.
just watch this third shot from Park at the 17th. Slow pitch. Hope she | :58:08. | :58:24.
goes. A little bit unlucky. Tom Abbott has returned. Thomas, | :58:25. | :58:31.
welcome. Thank you, Peter. Stacy Lewis with a birdie putt at 17 | :58:32. | :58:37.
having come out of the bunker. She has left it short. Just a par at the | :58:38. | :58:45.
17th for Stacey. She is six shots behind. She is still going to be a | :58:46. | :58:53.
danger on Sunday. Very much so. We have got if you heavyweight golfers, | :58:54. | :58:56.
and I mean that in the nicest possible way, massing behind the | :58:57. | :59:04.
leader, Mo Martin. Proven winners, proven major winners, and | :59:05. | :59:06.
experienced a discount when you get down to the Sunday in a major. Here | :59:07. | :59:16.
is one of those major winners. Just tiptoeing into the heavy stuff. A | :59:17. | :59:21.
little bit in the lap of the gods. Now she has got what looks like a | :59:22. | :59:54.
three wood. Bonkers on the right. If you go in there you are going | :59:55. | :00:00.
nowhere. -- bonkers. Difficult tee shot. Once you have done that, it is | :00:01. | :00:08.

demon pin. Looked nasty, looks like it could be stuck in the long grass | :01:10. | :01:14.
up there. It was always a danger. We thought it might snag. Angela | :01:15. | :01:23.
Stanford. This is for birdie at 18. Lovely. Birdie at 17, as well, so a | :01:24. | :01:32.
great finish to her round. APPLAUSE Solid 70. | :01:33. | :01:43.
Back to the 11th. Mo Martin. Championship leader. Two shots | :01:44. | :01:51.
ahead. These two players will both have | :01:52. | :02:20.
their work cut out for them to make four. They have quite a job for them | :02:21. | :02:28.
selves making 5, in some ways. Quite surprised with what she was trying | :02:29. | :02:33.
to do there. Yes, she just did not seem to get it quite well. Whether | :02:34. | :02:38.
the club snag a little bit. Or maybe she was just a little bit | :02:39. | :02:53.
adventurous with it. We have seen Suzann Pettersen's pre- shot | :02:54. | :02:59.
routine. She rehearses the opposite. APPLAUSE | :03:00. | :03:05.
Then, hopefully on the swing, she gets the ideal in between. And | :03:06. | :03:17.
that's perfect. That was brave. Finishing on the left-hand side of | :03:18. | :03:21.
this the way, she has to come right over. You can see them standing on | :03:22. | :03:24.
the top. 1st player from mainland China to | :03:25. | :03:40.
qualify for the LPGA Tour. Then she went on to win a Major. A couple of | :03:41. | :03:49.
years ago, that was. This is Emma Talley, 1 of the two amateurs who | :03:50. | :03:54.
have made the cut. The other 1 being George Hall. These two in a tussle | :03:55. | :04:04.
for the prize for the best amateur. Steady, steady. 50 yards short and | :04:05. | :04:32.
left. If she goes there, she would have hit it into the rough. Maybe in | :04:33. | :04:38.
the hazard. Yes, there is a ditch behind those sponsors boards. She | :04:39. | :04:54.
has gone from 1 horrible lie to somewhere really thick and tangling. | :04:55. | :05:00.
Where the flag is cut a yard short, she could go down the face of it. | :05:01. | :05:07.
She is almost looking to get this 10 feet wide of the pin if she can. She | :05:08. | :05:12.
needs the help of Tom Watson to get this 1 out. You have to accelerate | :05:13. | :05:29.
the club through. Anything inside 12 feet is good. My word. Actually went | :05:30. | :05:43.
backwards. I knew it was going to be tricky. It was such a terrible, | :05:44. | :05:48.
terrible life. She did well not to double hit, because the ball came | :05:49. | :05:52.
right back towards the club. She had to withdraw very sharply. Just | :05:53. | :05:59.
having another look at it now. She takes a decent backswing. She does | :06:00. | :06:03.
her best to accelerate. The ball has actually come back. With a great | :06:04. | :06:14.
view here of the difficulty, she hasn't even tackled that part of the | :06:15. | :06:17.
equation yet. She is just coping with the lie at the moment. The | :06:18. | :06:22.
slope, really, is at a 45? angle. Even if this was a perfect life, it | :06:23. | :06:42.
would be difficult to control. -- 45 degrees angle. She has left herself | :06:43. | :06:47.
a slaughter of a putt. You would have thought it was almost | :06:48. | :06:50.
impossible to leave that 1 short on the high side of the flag. That is | :06:51. | :06:55.
four played. The putt will need a strong nerve. | :06:56. | :07:05.
2nd shot. That 1 is trundling up the nicely. How about this? -- up there. | :07:06. | :07:21.
A short birdie putt coming up. She's 21st in the world. Very good | :07:22. | :07:25.
player. She does not play many events in the US or Europe. Back to | :07:26. | :07:36.
17. Talley. Oh no. She goes to the University of Alabama. That is where | :07:37. | :07:42.
Stefanie Meadow was educated. Stephanie, from Northern Ireland, | :07:43. | :07:45.

And that is a beautiful putt. APPLAUSE | :08:13. | :08:21.
A very fine closing birdie. We just watch her tap in. Well done, well | :08:22. | :08:25.
played. APPLAUSE At the moment, two shots in it. All | :08:26. | :08:33.
to play for tomorrow. This would be an all-American two putt. Putting | :08:34. | :08:43.
right over the top. She has got the wrong side. Either side was going to | :08:44. | :08:46.
be tricky, but that leaves her with a very tricky 2nd putt. You hit it | :08:47. | :08:51.
into the ditch on the left, too aggressive for the lie. Last | :08:52. | :08:56.
difficult hole on the course. A couple of par-5 holes to go. She has | :08:57. | :09:04.
about 75 yards. There is a bunker right between her and the pin. I am | :09:05. | :09:16.
guessing the championship must have somebody painting faces for the | :09:17. | :09:22.
youngsters today. I think it is so expertly done, so I don't think that | :09:23. | :09:30.
could have been the parents doing that. With the greatest respect. It | :09:31. | :09:35.
looks beautiful. I could never have done that. Could be seeing some big | :09:36. | :09:44.
changes at the top of the leaderboard. So Yeon Ryu is | :09:45. | :09:48.
struggling. Mo Martin has a bit of work to do for her par. And Inbee | :09:49. | :09:53.
Park has not taken advantage of that. She is sneaking down the | :09:54. | :09:59.
leaderboard. Earlier this week Inbee Park said she really wanted to win | :10:00. | :10:02.
this title to complete her career grand slam. She might have a bit | :10:03. | :10:13.
more work to do. This is very tough. Uphill and downhill the other side. | :10:14. | :10:20.
It is so fast on the other side. It is either in or 3 feet by. APPLAUSE | :10:21. | :10:31.
After having all of those problems in the rough she scrambles a bogey. | :10:32. | :10:37.
But not too much reaction. Yes, she says. She is creeping inexorably | :10:38. | :10:55.
towards actually playing this shot. She could choose where to drop it | :10:56. | :11:02.
within two club lengths. Going over a cup of the advertising hoardings, | :11:03. | :11:06.
she cannot drop to the side of them. -- a couple of. She must not | :11:07. | :11:09.
compound the error is she has already made. She needs to get on | :11:10. | :11:20.
and make double-bogey. Sensible play wasn't having anything to do with | :11:21. | :11:24.
that bunker that was between her and the flag. Mo Martin, that is a | :11:25. | :11:35.
dropped shot. It all came from the approach. She left herself too much | :11:36. | :11:42.
work. Yes, and she still has a little bit of work to do there. | :11:43. | :11:51.
Superb tee shot from Suzann Pettersen. This is easily within | :11:52. | :11:56.
reach for her. Flag today fairly central. | :11:57. | :12:11.
Keep going. Well done. APPLAUSE That will be good now. It should | :12:12. | :12:19.
feed into the middle. Fine shot. That is where we just saw Emma | :12:20. | :12:29.
Talley a few moments ago. Oh. Just a four putt. Ridiculous pin position. | :12:30. | :12:47.
Mo Martin with a double-bogey, and now she is tied for the lead with So | :12:48. | :12:54.
Yeon Ryu. But So Yeon Ryu is in some trouble. She has dropped a couple of | :12:55. | :12:58.
shots. Some big changes at the top of the leaderboard in the last few | :12:59. | :13:11.
minutes. So, this is going to be a tap in 5 4 Amelia Lewis. -- for | :13:12. | :13:22.

is going to be a very quick stay at the top of the leaderboard for So | :13:33. | :13:37.
Yeon Ryu. 25 feet, touch of left-to-right. That is all she | :13:38. | :13:47.
should have done, and that is exactly what she did do. APPLAUSE | :13:48. | :14:00.
It is going to be a double for So Yeon Ryu. She falls back to 2-under | :14:01. | :14:09.
par. A group of players at 2-under par. After a rather weak approach, | :14:10. | :14:27.
this is for birdie. Beautiful roll up to there. Inbee Park is going to | :14:28. | :14:39.
remain at 3-under. She is in 2nd place on her own, 1 behind Mo | :14:40. | :14:50.
Martin. This is to get to 3-under par. | :14:51. | :14:57.
She is tied for 2nd, just 1 shot behind Mo Martin. APPLAUSE | :14:58. | :15:06.
Quietly going about her business. She seems pretty happy though, | :15:07. | :15:11.

Just settle down. I think tomorrow, with the way the leaderboard is | :16:56. | :16:59.
looking, it is not over. It is a real chance to make up some ground | :17:00. | :17:06.
in the last few holes. 169. Ahn just put off by the crowd moving around | :17:07. | :17:11.
the corner. They were not making a lot of noise, but they just caught | :17:12. | :17:15.
her eye. She has stuck to her game plan beautifully today. She is a | :17:16. | :17:24.
really jolly personality. Smooth, beautiful swings, these two. | :17:25. | :17:29.
Different personalities and shapes. Seems to be the 20th 7-iron of the | :17:30. | :17:35.
day for her, and this is another terrific shot. The wind has just | :17:36. | :17:41.
turned a fraction. Have you been impressed by her? I must admit, I | :17:42. | :17:45.
have not really seen her play before, because she plays most of | :17:46. | :17:49.
her golf in Japan. Yes, very impressed by both of these girls. I | :17:50. | :18:00.
don't know how well I you are a -- Ayaka Uehara plays, but she has been | :18:01. | :18:09.
doing quite well here. Not a good tee shot for Mo Martin. Both Beatriz | :18:10. | :18:15.
Recari and Mo Martin missing the green at the par-3, 12th hole. So | :18:16. | :18:28.
Yeon Ryu, again, taking most of the time. She already had a minute when | :18:29. | :18:32.
they were lining up. She needs another minute to get settled. She | :18:33. | :18:40.
is also hitting a 7-iron. 169 is a long way, unless the wind is | :18:41. | :18:42.
helping, but I don't believe it is helping right now. | :18:43. | :19:07.
APPLAUSE Even when the players do hit it flat | :19:08. | :19:15.
out, it still looks very elegant. Everything is in balance. You can | :19:16. | :19:28.
get some typical lies in these particular bunkers. That was | :19:29. | :19:32.
exceptionally well done. You really have to get it out of there. | :19:33. | :19:33.
APPLAUSE Stacy Lewis. Rolling that 1 in on | :19:34. | :19:55.
the home green. APPLAUSE That is her days work, solid 70. -- | :19:56. | :20:04.
day's work. On the same mark as Charley Hull. That could be a | :20:05. | :20:14.
possible pairing for tomorrow. Up to the 18th, Suzann Pettersen, coming | :20:15. | :20:30.
off the eagle on the 17th. Is it going to stay short of that bunker? | :20:31. | :20:35.
Just short of the rough. That is fine, that is absolutely fine from | :20:36. | :20:39.
Suzann Pettersen. May have another chance at an eagle. This is a real | :20:40. | :20:48.
roller-coaster switchback effort of a putt. Come on. Well, she never | :20:49. | :21:00.
gave it enough to really travel significantly over the 1st bump. It | :21:01. | :21:11.
has leapt to the right-hand side. Back to the 12th, Mo Martin has her | :21:12. | :21:19.
2nd. You can see the ball of Beatriz Recari on the green. APPLAUSE | :21:20. | :21:26.
Beatriz Recari will have a putt for a par. We saw her coming out of the | :21:27. | :21:31.
bunker. Mo Martin will also try and make her 3. Plenty of changes on | :21:32. | :21:37.
this leaderboard over the last 20 minutes also. Now we have Mo Martin | :21:38. | :21:41.
in front by 1. Inbee Park, 3-under the bidet, just 1 behind, Suzann | :21:42. | :21:48.
Pettersen. And she is in a good position on the 18th. -- Inbee Park, | :21:49. | :21:59.
3-under for the day. Great recovery by Shanshan Feng after a fairly | :22:00. | :22:07.
ropey 1st putt. She moves to 2-under par. On the same mark now is Suzann | :22:08. | :22:12.
Pettersen, Amelia Lewis, So Yeon Ryu, and Beatriz Recari. -- is -- | :22:13. | :22:34.
as. Just a tiny sliver of left-to-right. Keep still. The boat | :22:35. | :22:43.
is rocking a little bit at the back, Ken. APPLAUSE | :22:44. | :23:06.
So Yeon Ryu for a birdie at 14. Trying to bounce back after that | :23:07. | :23:12.
double-bogey. APPLAUSE Should be a par for So Yeon Ryu. | :23:13. | :23:28.
Amelia Lewis at 16. Come on. Flag a long way back on 16. We have not | :23:29. | :23:47.
seen many players reach it. Important putt, this, for Mo Martin. | :23:48. | :23:54.
It does move to the right. You have to launch it. Oh dear, pushed it. | :23:55. | :24:03.
Just inside. And Mo Martin falls back to 3-under par. She is now in a | :24:04. | :24:21.
tiny for the lead. -- tie for the lead. This is for an outright lead | :24:22. | :24:33.
for Ahn. I am not sure she is aware of it. It has got a bit of pace on | :24:34. | :24:48.
it. At the 18th, this is Emma Talley for a birdie. Good roll on that 1, | :24:49. | :24:56.
but not able to get it to drop. APPLAUSE | :24:57. | :25:00.
Still, good performance from the amateur, who is just in her 2nd year | :25:01. | :25:08.
of university. Just finishing up her 2nd year of university. APPLAUSE | :25:09. | :25:16.
76 today, she will look for a nice finish tomorrow, trying to win the | :25:17. | :25:20.
amateur prize. Battling with Georgia Hall from England. Bit of | :25:21. | :25:28.
right-to-left for Ahn. Inside the hole, though. Oh. APPLAUSE | :25:29. | :25:39.
Through the side door, but they all count. She remains joint leader at | :25:40. | :25:48.
3-under par. Suzann Pettersen at the 18th. Par 5. Looking a little | :25:49. | :25:59.
concerned. But she shouldn't be. That is very good indeed. She has | :26:00. | :26:05.
put on the brakes. She is going to finish up exactly where Charley Hull | :26:06. | :26:10.
did. Suzann Pettersen looking to do the same. Spoke to her coach earlier | :26:11. | :26:17.
this week, and he was saying that Suzann Pettersen was getting into | :26:18. | :26:22.
some really good form. Playing 1 at the beginning of the year. She had | :26:23. | :26:26.
the injury problems, now back to some top form, and it is showing. | :26:27. | :26:59.
Bunkers down the right. A good time for me to welcome back Peter Alliss. | :27:00. | :27:09.
You are leaving us at a very crucial time of the afternoon. At this stage | :27:10. | :27:24.
you have to gather yourself together. Make some pars, get some | :27:25. | :27:36.
birdie opportunities. A par here. She has been very steady. The great | :27:37. | :27:44.
thing -- the main thing is not to drop any. Just 1 or 2 birdies and | :27:45. | :27:51.
you are right there. Looks like a cleaner, better hit to me. | :27:52. | :28:11.
You can see how they have shaped that the way for some definition. It | :28:12. | :28:17.
makes the golf course look a bit more pleasing to the high. Dash to | :28:18. | :28:34.
the high -- to the eye. So Yeon Ryu has the power to get it into macro. | :28:35. | :28:41.
Has she got the accuracy? -- to get it in two. She has stopped a few | :28:42. | :28:53.
times today. Either she has been put off by something, all she has had a | :28:54. | :28:57.
thought -- all she has -- or. Inbee Park. This is for the outright | :28:58. | :29:37.
lead. The new putter working well. APPLAUSE | :29:38. | :29:42.
Inbee Park, the queen of Serena and 3-time Major winner last season | :29:43. | :29:47.
moves to the head of proceedings for the 1st time. -- serene. 1 of the | :29:48. | :30:03.
few birdie putts today. She missed a few, but she is coming back. Suzann | :30:04. | :30:17.
Pettersen at the last. She is one of five major winners queueing up here | :30:18. | :30:20.
in the third round of this major championship. Frustration on the | :30:21. | :30:29.
back nine after two bogeys. An eagle on the 17th makes her feel much | :30:30. | :30:40.
better. Choosing the putter over one of her more lofted clubs. It is not | :30:41. | :30:53.
a bad effort. She does hit the ball quite beautifully, Maureen. I enjoy | :30:54. | :31:12.
watching her. Don't be greedy here. It needs to come out sideways. Don't | :31:13. | :31:26.
be greedy. Just find the fairway. Up to 18. | :31:27. | :31:40.
Good free swing of the putter. That is tracking beautifully. Very fine | :31:41. | :31:52.
closing birdie. That will be for 71. And a total of one under. Tied for | :31:53. | :31:54.
ninth at the moment. Now, is Beatriz Recari heeding | :31:55. | :32:18.
Ken's advice? Of it too safe with that one. -- she was a bit too safe | :32:19. | :32:27.
with that one. Suzann Pettersen for a birdie at the final hole. This to | :32:28. | :32:34.
go to three under. Well done. Nice round of golf. 68. | :32:35. | :32:47.
Very well played. And you can see that that 68 has | :32:48. | :33:17.
elevated Suzann Pettersen into joint second place. Inbee Park on the 18th | :33:18. | :33:28.
at the moment. A six iron for Martin. Plenty of landing area. | :33:29. | :33:41.
The sand. After a good tee shot on the 18th. That will be OK, will it? | :33:42. | :34:10.
Oh, it's just found the sand. Just toppled in. Sun-Ju Ahn trying to | :34:11. | :34:19.
fire it towards the TV tower. I think she likes it. Very good | :34:20. | :34:31.
hitting indeed. 499 yards, this hole. Just a wee draft. | :34:32. | :34:49.
Nice little kick off the corner of the bunker. That is three. Things | :34:50. | :35:03.
just unravelling a little bit for this last group. Mo Martin has gone | :35:04. | :35:12.
double bogey, bogey. Place-macro has gone bogey, bogey and she is on the | :35:13. | :35:14.
green in three. -- Beatriz Recari. Good strike. Just held on. Hello, | :35:15. | :35:54.
famous Grouse. Oh, another one. The Hague souffl?, don't they? -- the | :35:55. | :35:59.
Hague to fly, don't they? The connection sounded good. It has | :36:00. | :36:16.
done well. Suzann Pettersen has caught up with | :36:17. | :36:34.
Hazel. 68 today, the leader in the | :36:35. | :36:37.
clubhouse and a real turnaround in this championship so far. Very much | :36:38. | :36:42.
in the thick of things? Yes, it is nice. I have been playing well for | :36:43. | :36:47.
three days. It is hard to get going. It is easy to make one sloppy | :36:48. | :36:51.
mistake and it takes you right back. I am really enjoying this course. It | :36:52. | :36:55.
is the first time I fill it with a good heart. I am just trying to | :36:56. | :37:03.
build the brand as I go. Who knows what the weather is going to do | :37:04. | :37:09.
tomorrow? From what I have seen it will be nice towards the afternoon. | :37:10. | :37:13.
We are gearing up for quite a day tomorrow. Three birdies going out. | :37:14. | :37:18.
Frustration with a couple of dropped shots. You got them both back on the | :37:19. | :37:25.
17th? There are some tough holes out there. Par is a great score. 13 is | :37:26. | :37:30.
one of them. Unfortunately I had three putts to bogey. I felt really | :37:31. | :37:36.
in good shape, hitting the ball great. Hopefully I can take all that | :37:37. | :37:42.
with me into tomorrow. It has been a difficult year for you. You have had | :37:43. | :37:46.
back problems. You missed the first major of the year and missed the cut | :37:47. | :37:51.
at the U.S. Open. Is there a determination to make up for lost | :37:52. | :37:56.
time? I am sure that is how you feel. It is dreadful when you don't | :37:57. | :38:00.
get to play golf and missed the big tournaments that you live and die | :38:01. | :38:07.
for. I have been really good now since. I am in good shape. This is | :38:08. | :38:14.
the major that you have fed least well in. I am sensing that you have | :38:15. | :38:20.
a major victories in America and France, almost the Phil Mickelson | :38:21. | :38:24.
thing, that he wants to become a complete golfer by winning on links. | :38:25. | :38:30.
Is there a bit like that -- a bit of that in new? There is a bit of | :38:31. | :38:35.
wanting to win all five majors until -- before my career is over. You | :38:36. | :38:40.
just have to adjust and play smart. Adjust accordingly. Yes, I am right | :38:41. | :38:46.
where I want to be for tomorrow. Who knows? I would give it my all | :38:47. | :38:49.
tomorrow. At the same time, play smart. We look forward to it. Thank | :38:50. | :38:55.
you. Nice to hear from Suzann Pettersen. | :38:56. | :39:03.
A big round for her today. This is for the outright lead for Sun-Ju | :39:04. | :39:10.
Ahn. A couple of absolutely fantastic shots. She got up this par | :39:11. | :39:16.
five in two into the wind. A beautiful role on that. It | :39:17. | :39:54.
deserved to drop. It is going to be a bogey at best, however. | :39:55. | :40:10.
Lewis with a long putt for an eagle. Two cracking shots at the back of | :40:11. | :40:26.
the green. That's six, seven footer for a birdie. | :40:27. | :40:39.
Beautiful stroke. That was firm. Very good indeed. | :40:40. | :40:53.
Mole Martin. -- Mo Martin. She is only one shot behind. Another one | :40:54. | :41:12.
short. Well, there have been at least four, five, six players who | :41:13. | :41:18.
will think tonight, I should have done this, I should have done that. | :41:19. | :41:22.
A number of them have missed a lot of opportunities. It would be a bit | :41:23. | :41:28.
of a cavalry charge tomorrow. -- it will be. And an exciting one. Let's | :41:29. | :41:31.
hope it is not spoiled by the weather. A tester for Sun-Ju Ahn to | :41:32. | :41:43.
join the lead. Inbee Park is on -4 at the moment. Well done. I thought | :41:44. | :41:49.
she had posted. Two Koreans topping the leaderboard at the moment. | :41:50. | :42:06.
Just settling down very nicely for tomorrow. Here is Amelia Lewis for a | :42:07. | :42:28.
birdie on 17. Yes indeed. Opened with two bogeys. Since then it has | :42:29. | :42:33.
been pretty much copybook will stop --. It looks as if she is enjoying | :42:34. | :42:39.
herself. No Franz or stresses apparent. -- no frowning. | :42:40. | :42:50.
Place-macro to finish off at the 13th. Well done. -- Beatriz Recari. | :42:51. | :42:58.
Four behind. Inbee Park on 18. Just sneaking | :42:59. | :43:38.
inside the bunker. She is a danger, Maureen. There are a few of them. I | :43:39. | :43:46.
thought the ball was going to finish pin hi. | :43:47. | :44:12.
She missed a few chances earlier on. Julieta Granada on 16. I thought she | :44:13. | :44:31.
had got it. That was unlucky. That will drop her back to one under. | :44:32. | :44:51.
Write to the edge of the fairway. -- that was right to the edge of the | :44:52. | :45:04.
fairway. A pretty good array of bunkers on this whole. -- hole. Now | :45:05. | :45:15.
this group has lost a couple of holes. Six iron, 166. | :45:16. | :45:43.
Inbee Park on the 18th. Four under par. | :45:44. | :46:18.
The wind just slightly changing angle. | :46:19. | :46:44.
I say! I thought that was Sir Bruce Forsyth on the left for a minute. | :46:45. | :46:53.
Perhaps it is a relation. Lets worthy puce today, darling! -- let | :46:54. | :46:58.
us where the puce today! Five birdies means a lot of dropped | :46:59. | :47:18.
shots. Five birdies, six dropped shots. | :47:19. | :47:27.
Inbee Park does not often bring her caddie in to help line up the putts. | :47:28. | :47:34.
This is to give her the lead on her own in this championship. She | :47:35. | :47:45.
started the day at level par. Ideal conditions today. Rain was forecast. | :47:46. | :47:51.
Even a little bit of thunder sweeping in from Ireland. Where | :47:52. | :47:56.
else? It hasn't arrived, or El Cid has missed us. She has to be careful | :47:57. | :48:01.
with this. It is not outside the hole. She has to be firm. | :48:02. | :48:16.
That is a couple of those we have seen missed by her. That would keep | :48:17. | :48:29.
it tight at the top. It is so easily done. | :48:30. | :48:38.
It is still, thank goodness for her, a par. It is not a dropped shot. But | :48:39. | :48:48.
it is still going to be in her mind a dropped shot. | :48:49. | :49:08.
The same expression on her face. She will be thinking some thoughts. Up | :49:09. | :49:22.
to the 16th green. Sun-Ju Ahn. I think she has got a lot of make-up | :49:23. | :49:26.
on both sides of that sweater. She gets a fair bit of head movement. | :49:27. | :49:34.
That is very perceptive of you, Peter. I have been caught with | :49:35. | :49:37.
make-up on me! 50 years ago! She doesn't like it. And that is | :49:38. | :49:57.
why. That is worse than being in the bunker, possibly. | :49:58. | :50:07.
Mo Martin at the 14th. The ball rolled back of the green. She's | :50:08. | :50:15.
struggling. The is struggling, struggling, struggling. The club | :50:16. | :50:23.
selection was one short. She is in danger of dropping a shot here. | :50:24. | :50:44.
I've got a funny feeling the ball may have moved. I am not sure. She | :50:45. | :50:51.
repaired a pitch mark under her ball. I think it may just have | :50:52. | :51:04.
toppled... I always think things like that are very unfortunate. | :51:05. | :51:14.
She pitched it short and that could be awkward. She was hoping for a | :51:15. | :51:26.
round of applause which did not materialise. Still debating as to | :51:27. | :51:38.
whether it moved or not. She certainly thought it did. The | :51:39. | :51:46.
chances are it did. Has it moved about four feed? No, it has moved | :51:47. | :51:56.
about 2.5 millimetres. Was she addressing it or did it move of its | :51:57. | :52:04.
own volition? I am sorry, I wasn't paying attention. All, Ken! You will | :52:05. | :52:12.
never take over from Clouseau! Or perhaps you will take over from | :52:13. | :52:17.
Clouseau! Not the easiest of chips. I would | :52:18. | :52:23.
not fancy it. These girls have steely nerves. Not steely enough. It | :52:24. | :52:32.
was so much more difficult than if it had found the sand. Letting your | :52:33. | :52:39.
mind drift slightly to the fact that you could do that is almost enough | :52:40. | :52:46.
to make it happen. Precision strike needed and not forthcoming. | :52:47. | :52:58.
Place-macro pudding. -- Beatriz Recari putting up. Ken is staying | :52:59. | :53:08.
quite. He does not want to get involved in a legal argument. -- | :53:09. | :53:13.
quiet. That has gone on about nine feet. No penalty for her. | :53:14. | :53:35.
A couple of plays on four under. Inbee Park is completed her round. | :53:36. | :53:43.
If you have been with us for the last couple of hours, or indeed when | :53:44. | :53:48.
we started out, a number of players missed anything from two fought to | :53:49. | :53:57.
six foot putts earlier run. Come on, no. Not this one in. Bit tentative. | :53:58. | :54:11.
These greens are fast. They are not easy at all. And other dropped shot. | :54:12. | :54:19.
We have seen umpteen putts come macro short. -- come up short. They | :54:20. | :54:35.
look extremely fast. They are not easy to judge. They are pretty even. | :54:36. | :54:39.
This is a struggle, to get this one close. Yes, downhill, down | :54:40. | :54:51.
crosswind. It is not nice, this. Head probably spinning a bit from | :54:52. | :55:03.
that jet. -- chip. Steady on. I don't know what happened to the | :55:04. | :55:04.
second shot. The decision was the ball had moved | :55:05. | :55:26.
but she had not grounded her club. She moves on. Good putt. Well done. | :55:27. | :55:31.
Nice three. There is a sandy grave awaking that | :55:32. | :56:17.
one. -- awaiting. This would take into the lead should she managed to | :56:18. | :56:25.
hole it. It is a tricky one. Who said it was tricky? Who said it was | :56:26. | :56:37.
tricky? Straight as an arrow. Seat is just getting warmed up. Three | :56:38. | :56:46.
birdies in the last four holes. I like the look of that cartoon on her | :56:47. | :56:49.
shirt. I don't know what it does but it looks amusing. Hello, the cockers | :56:50. | :57:00.
are out. Serve borders, peddling, doing something odd. -- surfers. | :57:01. | :57:15.
This is her fourth shot. Left it in the bunker, we are told. | :57:16. | :57:28.
They are devilish bunkers, these links bunkers. They cut very steep. | :57:29. | :57:44.
If you get in the corner, no hope. A bunker for every occasion done this | :57:45. | :57:48.
hole. You need an accurate tee shot. That was a beauty. | :57:49. | :58:04.
A big pot -- putt for a So Yeon Ryu. That has just put a halt to any | :58:05. | :58:27.
momentum she was building. Two sixes on this back nine. Both of the par | :58:28. | :58:40.
Fords have really hurt. -- par four holes. It has been a day of great | :58:41. | :58:46.
change on the third day. Sun-Ju Ahn from Korea, plays on the regular | :58:47. | :58:52.
Japanese tour, or she has won three times this year, what an impact she | :58:53. | :58:59.
is making here. Run has put her at the top of the leaderboard ahead of | :59:00. | :59:04.
Inbee Park, the one we thought may just feature. Amelia Lewis. She has | :59:05. | :59:12.
missed five cuts in succession before coming to Britain. She tied | :59:13. | :59:18.
for sixth at the Buckinghamshire club last week. She clearly likes | :59:19. | :59:19.
the air in Great Britain. That would indeed have been a | :59:20. | :59:42.
fighting five. Dropped shots on her opening two holes. No dropped shots | :59:43. | :59:52.
since until the last. Sun-Ju Ahn at the 17th. Two fives coming up. The | :59:53. | :00:00.
wind had not totally helping but not too much of a hindrance. | :00:01. | :00:13.
So Yeon Ryu about to drive. 290 yards. Just in the semi wrath. It | :00:14. | :00:27.
looks OK from here. She is taking her time. They have almost caught up | :00:28. | :00:30.
with the group in front, which is something. You could actually say | :00:31. | :00:34.
they have paced themselves perfectly. She has stopped a few | :00:35. | :00:38.
times. Julieta Granada... I thought there | :00:39. | :01:25.
was a little bit of a back stop there. The ball did not have quite | :01:26. | :01:28.
enough energy to feed back down to the hole. Martin with her second | :01:29. | :01:51.
shot at the 15th. Still the way to go. What she would not give for a | :01:52. | :01:54.
good finish. -- is still a way. A lot of excitement has happened | :01:55. | :02:09.
over the last hour or so in the championship. If you players | :02:10. | :02:17.
sneaking up to the top. Beatriz Recari, bit of work still to do. | :02:18. | :02:19.
Lewis finishing. APPLAUSE A lot of them could have been a lot | :02:20. | :02:43.
better. Quite a few mistakes made earlier on. That has kept them | :02:44. | :02:48.
together, of course. It all sets up nicely for tomorrow. Come on, | :02:49. | :03:06.
Granada. Granada, I am falling under your spell. In you go. She struggled | :03:07. | :03:21.
for a number of seasons following her break-out year in 2006 when she | :03:22. | :03:26.
won the million dollar prize. Some good top 10 finishes so far this | :03:27. | :03:37.
year. She has hit it in the middle of the right-hand traps, your -- So | :03:38. | :03:53.
Yeon Ryu. Knock it out at about 90 yards, that will do. But there is | :03:54. | :04:03.
the danger of leaving it in there. 85 yards, pitched to the right of | :04:04. | :04:09.
the pin, short and left gives you the easiest putt. APPLAUSE | :04:10. | :04:24.
She seemed to dig it out. Looked pretty ominous when the divot flew | :04:25. | :04:40.
up. But something majestic. Plenty of deliberations with her caddy. I | :04:41. | :04:43.
am not too sure what the discussion is about. Just got to hit it out | :04:44. | :04:51.
with not much risk. Exactly like that. Still should be able to get | :04:52. | :05:03.
home reasonably from there, I should think, Mark. Good angle. 60 yards, | :05:04. | :05:18.
high floater, and not bad. Got it to stop pretty quickly. Yes, not that | :05:19. | :05:24.
bad, out of the rough, into the breeze. I think they have been asked | :05:25. | :05:28.
to get a riddle and, they are starting to move. -- riddle on. 204 | :05:29. | :05:38.
yards to the front for Ahn. But it isn't sitting too well. She has got | :05:39. | :05:44.
to carry the bunker left up by the green, which is probably a 190 carry | :05:45. | :05:50.
out of this lie. This is going to have to be a pure strike. Sounded | :05:51. | :06:09.
good. By golly, it is... Oh, stay away, stay away... The bunkers | :06:10. | :06:16.
gather and the hole doesn't. Back to the final pairing on the | :06:17. | :06:53.
15th. Beatriz Recari will be the 1st 1 to play. This is a really | :06:54. | :06:57.
touchy-feely putt downhill. Left to right. Pretty quick. Maximum break. | :06:58. | :07:08.
It could go 3 or 4 feet by a few don't get it right around the break | :07:09. | :07:13.
-- if you don't get it right around the break. She has a unique way of | :07:14. | :07:23.
looking down the line when she is over the putt. She just seems to | :07:24. | :07:28.
move her head slightly. If she moved the ball and inch back she would be | :07:29. | :07:34.
in a better stance. She seems to do this, particularly on the long ones. | :07:35. | :07:43.
-- and inch -- 1 inch. You said it was a slippery 1, and it just slips | :07:44. | :07:53.
by. Suddenly, labs, there is a bit of cloud, and a bit of rain looking | :07:54. | :08:02.
like it is coming this way. -- lads. A bit of rain is forecast. I | :08:03. | :08:10.
was told that it isn't going to rain until players finished. We will see | :08:11. | :08:15.
if it is right. -- we will see if he is right. Very bold. APPLAUSE | :08:16. | :08:21.
3-over, level par for the championship. 17th. So Yeon Ryu's | :08:22. | :08:41.
3rd. It trundles up onto the green. I say, I say, I say! APPLAUSE | :08:42. | :08:47.
The golfing gods helping her out much like they did at the last hole. | :08:48. | :08:55.
Almost a joke. I played for that. I knew it would come in from the | :08:56. | :09:03.
right. Martin trying to stop the rot. This for birdie. Oh! Not high | :09:04. | :09:16.
enough. Well, it is going to be a par, which ends the run of bad holes | :09:17. | :09:22.
coming into this. We have seen so many putt -- putts like that. They | :09:23. | :09:34.
could be a few more players within 3 or 4 shots -- there could be. This | :09:35. | :09:45.
looks a horrid shot. After an incredible slice of luck for So Yeon | :09:46. | :09:51.
Ryu, it is Ahn's chance. It stopped on the edge of the green. It has | :09:52. | :09:55.
trickled into this bunker. She has got to stand outside it. This is | :09:56. | :09:59.
really difficult, often dangerous shot. She has got to bend her needs | :10:00. | :10:06.
an awful lot. And keep them bent. That is a lot better than it might | :10:07. | :10:10.
have been. She has got to stay there and keep her legs bent on this. Just | :10:11. | :10:18.
hands and arms. Not a long shot. Keep the swing back and through. | :10:19. | :10:27.
Don't stop on it. It will come out. APPLAUSE | :10:28. | :10:30.
Too well. Leading the way. A putt for birdie, | :10:31. | :10:52.
but it is going to be a difficult 1 on the 17th. At the 18th. Gladys | :10:53. | :11:05.
Macara -- Gladys and -- Gwladys Nocera. She is from | :11:06. | :11:26.
Switzerland. She lives near Lake Geneva. Not a bad spot. She has been | :11:27. | :11:35.
around for a few years. A good finish. Find the fairway. Four four | :11:36. | :11:46.
four finish. This has been the strongest wind we have had all day. | :11:47. | :12:00.
Straight into the players' face. -- players' faces. | :12:01. | :12:10.
Lightning fast birdie putt for Ahn. It is going to go to the left, then | :12:11. | :12:19.
it is going to move violently back to the right. | :12:20. | :12:27.
2nd down to the last hole. You have got to avoid the bunkers if you can. | :12:28. | :12:54.
And she has. What the result. APPLAUSE | :12:55. | :13:00.
-- what a result. What a result that is. She was quite fortunate of the | :13:01. | :13:05.
tee -- off. Granada Full. -- Granada. Oh, found the bunker. | :13:06. | :13:41.
Back to 17. So Yeon Ryu. This would be some birdie. She walks away with | :13:42. | :13:54.
a par. After coming out of a bunker. APPLAUSE | :13:55. | :13:56.
An eventful back 9 for So Yeon Ryu, may be room for 1 birdie left. Lives | :13:57. | :14:04.
in Irvine, California. She is from Korea, of course. | :14:05. | :14:19.
APPLAUSE Par for Ahn. They all look pretty | :14:20. | :14:36.
happy. Very nice day. It has been beautifully organised. Lots of | :14:37. | :14:39.
things for the spectators and youngsters to do. A lot of | :14:40. | :14:45.
youngsters out here. I am reminded of get into golf .com. Have a look, | :14:46. | :14:56.
all 1 word, there might be in offer you simply cannot resist. Or, go on | :14:57. | :15:04.
to the BBC website. Get inspired. We should all get inspired. I might be | :15:05. | :15:09.
a bit old, but I am always up for a good sit down. There is a lot of | :15:10. | :15:21.
thought going into this. It has nestled down a little bit. The wind | :15:22. | :15:25.
is blowing directly into the players' faces. 6-iron. A little | :15:26. | :15:31.
bluff at the front of the screen. If it comes short it will trickle down | :15:32. | :15:39.
to the bottom Augusta style. You can just see the parting -- putting | :15:40. | :15:51.
surfaces. Coming out of the rough it will probably release out. | :15:52. | :16:13.
It is not on the putting surface for Beatriz Recari, so a bit of work | :16:14. | :16:18.
left. Up to 18. Looks pretty happy, the leader. Yes, | :16:19. | :16:32.
look at that. The fairways drying out a little bit. They were softer | :16:33. | :16:37.
early in the week. They were, but it is still moving. Get a nice four to | :16:38. | :16:44.
finish, and a pleasant afternoon. -- So Yeon Ryu, should have been | :16:45. | :17:07.
about a 270 carry. A little bit less. It is heading towards the left | :17:08. | :17:13.
trap. It needs to stop. Lost sight of it. It is in the trap, I think. | :17:14. | :17:23.
Oh, it is indeed. And quite near the face. Long 3rd shot. | :17:24. | :17:48.
She has quite a dilemma when it comes to her turn. Where to play the | :17:49. | :17:58.
next 1? Granada Plays her 3rd. Aggressive play, and almost in. | :17:59. | :18:04.
APPLAUSE We have seen a few of the short | :18:05. | :18:09.
players doing well, putting the way around here. Granada's 1 of those | :18:10. | :18:17.
players. 27 years of age, been out on the Tour for 9 years. | :18:18. | :18:30.
Yang finishing off. Eagle 3? No. She will tap that in to go to 1-under | :18:31. | :18:43.
par. A round of 72, which is level par. APPLAUSE | :18:44. | :18:54.
Looks as if it is clouding up a little bit out there, Tom, from the | :18:55. | :19:02.
north and from the sea towards Northern Ireland. That's an | :19:03. | :19:08.
interesting shot, look at that, the old clubhouse reflected in | :19:09. | :19:20.
somebody's glasses. Granada, Sandy birdie. 2-under par. APPLAUSE | :19:21. | :19:29.
72 today, two birdies on the last four. I would not like to pick a | :19:30. | :19:47.
winner at the moment. Absolutely right, because it has been toing and | :19:48. | :19:50.
froing all day. All big names out there. Dashed up there, all with a | :19:51. | :19:57.
lot of experience. It might come down to 1 particular shot, or a bit | :19:58. | :20:01.
of bad luck, and that is just the way it goes. -- all big names up | :20:02. | :20:07.
there, all with a lot of experience. Charley Hull was way down, but she | :20:08. | :20:15.
got back into it. So you never know. Beatriz Recari has chipped up nicely | :20:16. | :20:22.
to about two feet. Almost identical to the 1 before. | :20:23. | :20:41.
APPLAUSE She could have done with that 1 | :20:42. | :20:45.
going in. Bunker left for so run -- for So | :20:46. | :21:20.
Yeon Ryu. All you can do here is splash it out again. She has done | :21:21. | :21:25.
very neatly. APPLAUSE Have you seen this course change | :21:26. | :22:00.
much over the years? Yes, just a little bit, the 17th used to be a | :22:01. | :22:05.
par 3. They got rid of that, and put in the 12. They put in some new | :22:06. | :22:10.
tees. The greens were in bad shape a few years ago, they took them all | :22:11. | :22:18.
out and relayed them. They have this thing whereby a stretch of water | :22:19. | :22:24.
runs beneath some greens. Some of them can go a bit brown. But it is a | :22:25. | :22:31.
classic. For par. It is quite tricky to see the lines. Almost dead | :22:32. | :22:33.
straight. APPLAUSE That was a very important putt, I | :22:34. | :22:54.
feel. 173 to the pin, but 151 to the front. And that is important. | :22:55. | :23:01.
8-iron. And she has just dragged it a hair. Did you say in 8-iron? Yes. | :23:02. | :23:13.
Really, good God. She gives it a fair hit. I thought it was a | :23:14. | :23:23.
different hole. 8-iron... The head still. -- keep the head still. | :23:24. | :23:31.
APPLAUSE Good up and down for Beatriz Recari. | :23:32. | :23:39.
She remains at level par. If they could both finish with a couple of | :23:40. | :23:44.
falls that would smarten them up enormously. It would put them in | :23:45. | :23:59.
good shape tomorrow. -- fours. 17 players so far have broken par. | :24:00. | :24:04.
Which is a great improvement on the previous two days. Everybody has | :24:05. | :24:09.
been behaving, they have been unemployed, and had a nice day out. | :24:10. | :24:16.
They have proper shoes on. Don't slip! | :24:17. | :24:29.
137 left the So Yeon Ryu. She has a wedge. She will be trying to pitch | :24:30. | :24:37.
it. 10, maybe 12 short. Bound to take 1 high bounce. She has been a | :24:38. | :24:58.
little bit aggressive with her shots. She might feel hard done by | :24:59. | :25:03.
by the end of the day, but that is links golf. Cracking shot. Pity she | :25:04. | :25:07.
did not get a bit of a stop on it. It might have ended up about 7 or 8 | :25:08. | :25:11.
feet away. APPLAUSE It is a par 5, she has had a cute | :25:12. | :25:18.
tales of woe -- view tales of woe today. -- a few. | :25:19. | :25:28.
Playing partner in a perfect spot. Good distance. Just go to threaded | :25:29. | :25:35.
through the mounds. I say just, if you can get plenty of run. That was | :25:36. | :25:45.
almost out before she struck it, the tee. That is cantering down the | :25:46. | :25:48.
fairway. That is a splendid drive. Maybe 1 day away from a championship | :25:49. | :26:19.
victory. She seemed a bit disturbed by that last 1. She almost turned | :26:20. | :26:25.
away in disgust. I could not believe she hit an 8-iron. 20 yards short of | :26:26. | :26:31.
the green, but kicked into... Well, it isn't too bad. You have got to | :26:32. | :26:35.
hit this hard enough to get it out and forward. If you don't, you could | :26:36. | :26:39.
just knock it into the bank in front of you. Yes, it's not terrible. She | :26:40. | :26:46.
is on an uphill slope, which always helps on these kinds of shots. But | :26:47. | :26:52.
it is easy to lose concentration. I think that is the poorest shot of | :26:53. | :26:58.
the round I have seen. That was just driving in 8-iron about 20 feet. The | :26:59. | :27:04.
goal has been of the absolute highest standard today. -- golf. | :27:05. | :27:10.
Getting herself settled. The trajectory is fine. It is just a | :27:11. | :27:14.
question of getting it up. Short delivery for release. | :27:15. | :27:30.
APPLAUSE Got it a bit clean, didn't she? It | :27:31. | :27:38.
started a bit penny. I thought it might be a bit worse than that. -- | :27:39. | :27:47.
tinny. I thought it was going to end up in the ladies locker room. I | :27:48. | :27:50.
thought it was going to give a scare to the people watching in the | :27:51. | :27:55.
gallery. It was not where she intended. | :27:56. | :28:13.
Great view around here at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club. We have seen | :28:14. | :28:24.
many tournaments here. English championships, amateur Championships | :28:25. | :28:32.
etc. It all really began in 1950 here. I don't think much was played | :28:33. | :28:39.
before 1950. Since 1954, the 1st championship, it has grown hugely in | :28:40. | :28:44.
stature. This putt goes to the left on the back of this green. We have | :28:45. | :28:49.
seen at least 6 or 7 look good and entail away left -- and then tail | :28:50. | :28:56.
away left. She is settling down there. You have got to get settled. | :28:57. | :29:03.
I'm sure some people might say she is building a step. Well, what else | :29:04. | :29:18.
are you going to do? Let's see if she can judge it right. She might go | :29:19. | :29:31.
towards the right of the hole. Not bad for getting it close. Funny putt | :29:32. | :29:49.
from the back of this green. Martin just laying up. Stay on the fairway. | :29:50. | :30:00.
It would have been easier from the right centre than the left centre, | :30:01. | :30:12.
the way the pin is cut. The pin is on almost a 3 terrorist green. This | :30:13. | :30:17.
is the central terrorist. You don't want to go too far past. -- 3 | :30:18. | :30:32.
terraced green. This is going to come out pretty hot. -- this is the | :30:33. | :30:44.
central terrace. Left a bit. It sounded nice. It is going to stick | :30:45. | :30:51.
up there, is it? It is doing its best to get back. It is still | :30:52. | :31:03.
tricky, but not bad. It is most likely coming from the back part of | :31:04. | :31:07.
the screen. The ball has to long -- run along the top of the little | :31:08. | :31:12.
bridge. I have just been looking down the scorers. We have had one | :31:13. | :31:30.
bogey free round today. That is some accomplishment around this | :31:31. | :31:30.
championship links. Some significant moves have been | :31:31. | :31:52.
made by some very accomplished players today, just setting us up | :31:53. | :31:55.
for a grandstand day tomorrow. Well done. It was a little bit of a | :31:56. | :32:21.
struggle but it is 74. Home in 40, however. Didn't birdie either of the | :32:22. | :32:31.
last two. She had a couple of sixes thrown in as well. It has been very | :32:32. | :32:44.
expensive. That big tent at the back is the exhibition tent, which sells | :32:45. | :32:52.
all sorts of goodies. Take your time. Head still. Two inches back, | :32:53. | :33:05.
two inches through... Like that. It looks so easy. Well played. | :33:06. | :33:13.
Very nicely played round with many opportunities missed. A big smile | :33:14. | :33:28.
from the 26-year-old who has already claimed 23 professional wins on the | :33:29. | :33:33.
Korean and Japanese tours. She is a phenomenal winner. She leads this | :33:34. | :33:39.
championship by a shot from Inbee Park. Park has been a very strong | :33:40. | :33:46.
presence in this championship in the last few years. One of the great | :33:47. | :33:50.
champions in women's golf ever after three major titles last year. This | :33:51. | :33:57.
is her at the 12th with the birdie putt to goal mouth -- go four under | :33:58. | :34:05.
par. When she gets it going, she really gets it going. She dropped | :34:06. | :34:10.
that shot at the 14th and here she picks it back up at the 17th. This | :34:11. | :34:18.
is a new putter she is using. I got a reaction moments afterwards. | :34:19. | :34:23.
You began six shots off the lead and find yourself in the thick of this | :34:24. | :34:27.
championship. A slightly uncharacteristic ending. How would | :34:28. | :34:31.
you sum up your day? It was a great day overall. Started really good. A | :34:32. | :34:38.
tough four holes to start with. I think I hit all the greens today. It | :34:39. | :34:46.
was a good ball striking day. My two bogeys came from 23 putts. -- two | :34:47. | :34:55.
three putts. Overall it was a good day. At the beginning of the round I | :34:56. | :35:03.
had a 65, 66 in my mind. A bit disappointing in the end. Still a | :35:04. | :35:08.
good day. You came into this championship last year going for the | :35:09. | :35:13.
Grand Slam. Things did not work out. Is there a feeling that there is | :35:14. | :35:18.
some unfinished business for you? Hopefully! Last year I had a lot of | :35:19. | :35:27.
pressure on myself. Having something like that is quite hard. Irony order | :35:28. | :35:31.
to play good in this event. It did not happen. Obviously this year I am | :35:32. | :35:35.
going into the final day in a slightly better position. I'm giving | :35:36. | :35:44.
myself an opportunity for career grand slams. Happy to be in that | :35:45. | :35:49.
position. It is hard to follow up an amazing year like 2013. How close | :35:50. | :35:54.
are you to regaining the kind of form that you showed so beautifully | :35:55. | :36:00.
last year? Yes, last year was an exceptional year. My putter just | :36:01. | :36:08.
wanted to go in the hole all the time. This year it seems like I have | :36:09. | :36:13.
matured my game. I am hitting the ball better. I am a little worse | :36:14. | :36:20.
around the greens, especially the putter this year has not been | :36:21. | :36:24.
working as well. Except for that I see improvement. It could be quite a | :36:25. | :36:28.
day tomorrow. Thank you. Thank you. Mo Martin at the 17th. The last | :36:29. | :36:48.
group out on the course. This is for a birdie. Line and pace. It sounds | :36:49. | :36:56.
obvious. But if you just hit it a little bit too hard on the right, it | :36:57. | :37:03.
won't go in. Almost a double break. It is a tricky one. That was always | :37:04. | :37:12.
left and stayed left. It wandered off. It is quite bizarre, really. | :37:13. | :37:15.
Very annoying. Tomorrow the forecast is not so | :37:16. | :37:32.
clever. There is the possibility of strong winds during the day. That is | :37:33. | :37:39.
another factor to the debate. -- to think about. A par putt. I think you | :37:40. | :37:53.
may need your warm woollies tomorrow, or a wrinkled. -- a | :37:54. | :38:02.
raincoat. Four at the last would do a tremendous amount of good. Yes, Mo | :38:03. | :38:10.
Martin has only had one top ten finish in her career on the LPGA | :38:11. | :38:17.
tour. She is joint seventh. A birdie up the last and the good day | :38:18. | :38:24.
tomorrow will be worth a lot to her. She won three tournaments on the | :38:25. | :38:28.
futures tour. She took up while to graduate onto the LPGA tour. She has | :38:29. | :38:36.
become very consistent. This is a high achieving week for her. Birdie | :38:37. | :38:47.
putt. This would come macro in handy as well. -- come. Straight in. | :38:48. | :39:10.
Suzann Pettersen either on her way to or from the practice ground. The | :39:11. | :39:28.
18th tee. I was talking to Tom about altering this whole. That's hole. | :39:29. | :39:42.
The 18th was a straightaway hole with a kink in it, no dogleg. They | :39:43. | :39:49.
swapped it for the 10th hole 30 or 40 years ago. Virtually straight | :39:50. | :40:03.
down breeze. It is a sugar daddy of a hole. You have got to find the | :40:04. | :40:21.
fairway. Mo Martin does not get the highest flight in the world. | :40:22. | :40:47.
It has gone left a bit, has its? Over by the gallant colonel. They | :40:48. | :41:02.
don't like to work the old boy too hard these days. He and his team of | :41:03. | :41:08.
Army lads all take leave to come and help us out. | :41:09. | :41:26.
This is an interesting hole for Martin. She can go down the narrow | :41:27. | :41:34.
fairway on the right or down the left, which is much wider. I think | :41:35. | :41:39.
if she goes over the bunker, she has got to hit absolute Sunday best. | :41:40. | :41:47.
What about down the left with a bit of cut in that? Would that sued the | :41:48. | :41:49.
day? That would suit the day. Find the fairway and this hole will | :41:50. | :42:08.
offer you a birdie at least 50% of the time. If you are lucky you may | :42:09. | :42:09.
hit a three. Which way will she go? She is darn | :42:10. | :42:47.
accurate. Poll, no. -- oh, macro now. | :42:48. | :43:00.
Much toing and froing on the third day of the championship. Sun-Ju Ahn | :43:01. | :43:09.
is top of the leaderboard. What a powerful player. There she is. She | :43:10. | :43:22.
is nicknamed big Mama on the Japanese tour. She has twice been | :43:23. | :43:28.
the leading money earner on that tour. This is only her second time | :43:29. | :43:32.
in this championship. This is her second to the 13th. This approach | :43:33. | :43:39.
would be good enough to almost guarantee her the birdie. That was | :43:40. | :43:43.
the quality of the striking today. That took to three under. The good | :43:44. | :43:49.
play continued. Birdie putt at the 15th. That put her at four under. | :43:50. | :43:55.
And the woman his best result in a major was a tie for 13th in 2009 at | :43:56. | :44:01.
the US women's open, dived down to five under at the next hole, the | :44:02. | :44:07.
15th. That is where she would remain at the head of the leaderboard, all | :44:08. | :44:11.
on her own. And looking like she will take that lead into tomorrow's | :44:12. | :44:16.
final round. We understand the forecast is pretty different to | :44:17. | :44:23.
today will stop gusts of up to 30 mph are expected. That will | :44:24. | :44:34.
certainly add to the drama. Julieta Granada on the practice round. These | :44:35. | :44:37.
are the first spots of rain we have experienced in three days. There is | :44:38. | :44:43.
a mass scramble for the waterproofs and the brollies. | :44:44. | :44:52.
There you see what is happening. The clouds have darkened. One final | :44:53. | :44:58.
pairing out on the course. They could both do with four. The chances | :44:59. | :45:06.
of them both getting four are quite slight. -- is quite slight. When it | :45:07. | :45:12.
rains, this golf course becomes a quite different animal. I don't | :45:13. | :45:20.
think we will see such low scores tomorrow if we get the rain. It is | :45:21. | :45:33.
245 to the pin. There are a couple of bunkers which she desperately | :45:34. | :45:38.
does not want to go into. It is whether she can get enough club on | :45:39. | :45:43.
it to pop it over those. Not Silnov -- not a lot of room over them. You | :45:44. | :45:49.
are talking about an area the size of a tennis court where it is safe | :45:50. | :45:56.
to land? To I would say so. She may just chip it down the fairway. When | :45:57. | :46:03.
in doubt, check it out. -- chip it out. She is going from a short iron | :46:04. | :46:18.
to a middle iron. I think if you are going to play safe, play safe. Looks | :46:19. | :46:25.
like a five or a six iron. I would have thought a nine iron down | :46:26. | :46:30.
towards the hospitality pavilion. It looks a long shot. | :46:31. | :46:41.
Steady. That was stupid. Give the caddie a rocket. Walk-off now. Not | :46:42. | :47:10.
good. It was a good strike, too. She hated nicely. One club to many. -- | :47:11. | :47:20.
too many. A lot of wildlife here. They are wondering, with the hell | :47:21. | :47:24.
has laid all those ex-? ! Where is mum! There she is. Come on, kids. | :47:25. | :47:32.
Let's get you home before it gets too wet. They have only got little | :47:33. | :47:40.
legs but they shift, don't they? What about this one, Ken? This is | :47:41. | :47:46.
much more inviting. A middle iron from here. Again, you're trying to | :47:47. | :47:53.
hit it through the gap between the two bunkers. 208 yards. Middle of | :47:54. | :48:05.
the green you are after. Ignore the pin. She has got a five iron. A nice | :48:06. | :48:15.
sweet one right down the garden path. | :48:16. | :48:34.
That is easier in there than perhaps in long grass. | :48:35. | :48:44.
Place-macro just finishing off her round. -- Beatriz Recari. In a tie | :48:45. | :48:54.
for seventh place, Stacy Lewis, the world number one from America. She | :48:55. | :49:02.
is our defending champion and I caught up with her earlier. | :49:03. | :49:09.
Our defending champion, Stacy Lewis. You find yourself only three shots | :49:10. | :49:13.
off the pace. This is a turnaround going into the final day? Yes, it | :49:14. | :49:20.
is. I got a bit closer today. It was a frustrating day. I hit the ball | :49:21. | :49:26.
too good to only get two under. Hopefully tomorrow I can do better | :49:27. | :49:30.
and make a little charge. How positive do you feel about your | :49:31. | :49:35.
chances of defending this title? Charley Hull has showed us what is | :49:36. | :49:38.
possible out there. It is definitely possible. Tomorrow is going to be | :49:39. | :49:43.
one of those days you have two hang in there. You can make birdies. I | :49:44. | :49:49.
just need to putt a little bit better and I will have a chance. You | :49:50. | :49:52.
can draw on your experiences on final Sundays. In the last couple of | :49:53. | :50:02.
events you have shot 65 and 66. You say you have got Sundays figured | :50:03. | :50:07.
out. In what respect? When you say that it usually goes the other way! | :50:08. | :50:11.
I think every day you learn to play the golf course a little bit better. | :50:12. | :50:15.
You get more comfortable on it. That showed today. I don't know, it is | :50:16. | :50:21.
just getting out there. I am ready for Sundays. That is the day I play | :50:22. | :50:26.
for. When I have that chance to win. That is where I want to be. Hoping | :50:27. | :50:32.
for a charge for you tomorrow. Thank you very much. Thank you. | :50:33. | :50:41.
A good up and down needed here for Mo Martin. It has been a struggle on | :50:42. | :50:53.
the back nine for her. It is still not the easiest of shots. It is a | :50:54. | :51:03.
knobbly bit of green. Pitched nicely. A long way up the shaft. | :51:04. | :51:20.
Amazing. Very well played. That is very good indeed. Superb shot. | :51:21. | :51:30.
Particularly after the one that she put in the bunker. When you work it | :51:31. | :51:35.
out, select a club and hit the shot and you put it in the only place you | :51:36. | :51:39.
do not want to go, you feel like a twit. She holds that put -- if she | :51:40. | :51:48.
putts that, it would be great. Beatriz Recari has found the bunker | :51:49. | :52:04.
on the right hand side. You can see how much green she has two play | :52:05. | :52:09.
with. A very decent chance of getting up and down for birdie. | :52:10. | :52:15.
Assuming, of course, it is not completely against the face. It is | :52:16. | :52:16.
not too bad. Good a shot there. We have got some | :52:17. | :53:03.
dramatic news. This was the situation 20 minutes ago. You can | :53:04. | :53:12.
see how slippery the sand is. You have got to get yourself a bit | :53:13. | :53:15.
solid, otherwise what are you going to do? It looks as if she is going | :53:16. | :53:21.
to be penalised a couple of shots for her stance, which is very cruel | :53:22. | :53:35.
if that is the case. In my opinion. She is getting enough aggravation | :53:36. | :53:39.
with the shots she played. He did then and squirted it to the back. | :53:40. | :53:44.
That's back she hid it thin. That is why golf is such a tricky | :53:45. | :53:59.
game. If that is the case. So you have played nicely but just put two | :54:00. | :54:10.
shots on. That is the correct scoreboard at the moment. That | :54:11. | :54:19.
changes the face of things a bit. It is like the Spanish Inquisition. | :54:20. | :54:37.
Two important putts coming up for these players. | :54:38. | :55:00.
Not a great deal in this. Of course, a little bit of moisture on | :55:01. | :55:08.
the green. So if you imagine there is any break, you can probably | :55:09. | :55:12.
fitted a little bit more firmly and take it out of the equation. -- fit | :55:13. | :55:27.
it. Disappointing. That is going to be just a par. 74. One under. Sun-Ju | :55:28. | :55:53.
Ahn. That nasty penalty means another couple of shots added on to | :55:54. | :56:02.
that final hole. Quite a blow. Mo Martin. This for a par. A very | :56:03. | :56:09.
adventurous one. She has done it. Well done. Our overnight leader | :56:10. | :56:16.
struggled today. She is hanging in there. If she can break 72 tomorrow, | :56:17. | :56:23.
it would do her a lot of good indeed. | :56:24. | :56:36.
She was our leader. Now she is not. A two shot penalty. That is the | :56:37. | :56:52.
situation. Nicely bunched. Let's hope the weather is not as bad as | :56:53. | :56:59.
they say it is going to be. I am looking forward to tomorrow. But I | :57:00. | :57:03.
am not looking forward to that forecast with wind and possible | :57:04. | :57:07.
rain, because it is no fun for anybody. I appreciate that. It could | :57:08. | :57:14.
be a damn close run thing tomorrow. There are some really hot players | :57:15. | :57:18.
near the top. It may be their turn to win one of women's richest | :57:19. | :57:21.
prizes. Hope you join us. Thank you, Peter. I hope you join us | :57:22. | :57:33.
for that and I hope you join us next week for the Open Championship just | :57:34. | :57:35.
30 miles down the coast from here. Where we see a magnificent | :57:36. | :58:03.
landscape, they see a hostile terrain. | :58:04. | :58:10.
Our business tomorrow is the final day of this championship. A 66 from | :58:11. | :58:16.
Charley Hull, the best of the week. Sun-Ju Ahn penalised two shots. | :58:17. | :58:22.
Inbee Park takes a 1-shot lead into the final day. 1pm is the start time | :58:23. | :58:28.
the final round of the 39th playing of this Open Championship. Some of | :58:29. | :58:34.
the great names in women's golf have won here. You Will be next? Bring a | :58:35. | :58:38.
windcheater. It could be a wild ride. | :58:39. | :58:44. |
