Excellent footwork. Olympic champion! A Rebecca Adlington is

:00:28.:00:38.
:00:38.:00:51.

Kelly Holmes for Great Britain! A wonderful performance. Absolutely

:00:51.:01:01.
:01:01.:01:05.

brilliant. It is bold! It is bold! Welcome back to Tokyo, hosting the

:01:05.:01:09.

World Gymnastics Championships. It is proving to be one of the best

:01:09.:01:12.

ever. Last night it was the men's team final and it was a competition

:01:12.:01:16.

that went right down to the wire. There was a Cold War for medals

:01:16.:01:20.

between America and Russia. And would it be a Japanese or Chinese

:01:20.:01:25.

takeaway? Whatever it was, it was the ultimate game of winner stays

:01:25.:01:34.

Japan needs 0.6 from somewhere. wonderful performance. The crowd

:01:34.:01:44.
:01:44.:01:56.

are on their feet. The tension the Olympic champion has enabled

:01:56.:02:03.

China to retain their title. All eyes on him and he has a massive

:02:03.:02:13.
:02:13.:02:31.

America. Kohei Uchimura has done could not clinch it in front of the

:02:31.:02:35.

home crowd but it was thoroughly entertaining. Today it is the turn

:02:35.:02:40.

of the women in the all-arounder competition, individuals competing

:02:40.:02:43.

on four pieces of apparatus. This is the hotel where the gymnasts are

:02:44.:02:48.

staying. I have come here for coffee with Beth Tweddle to get her

:02:48.:02:52.

take on the top 24. To set our minds at rest, you are not

:02:52.:02:59.

competing in the all-arounder. cannot compete in that. You do look

:02:59.:03:04.

very relaxed! What are your thoughts? It will be interesting. I

:03:04.:03:10.

think that we will go in as favourite, because we qualified

:03:10.:03:18.

first. They will be battling at the top. But the American is looking

:03:18.:03:24.

very strong as well. Coming into this, of Russia will have been

:03:24.:03:34.

sorry to have lost at the Europeans. Their top performer is out of the

:03:34.:03:40.

all rounder, so everybody will be thinking they could do it, but the

:03:40.:03:43.

Americans would have liked the showdown. They are looking

:03:43.:03:49.

incredibly confident. That team final was just phenomenal. Yes,

:03:49.:03:53.

ourselves and America were the only teams going 12 for 12 and that is

:03:53.:03:57.

really hard. They had even more pressure on them because they were

:03:57.:04:00.

going for the world title. When we have been training with them, they

:04:00.:04:04.

are exactly the same. They banged the routines out, thank you, move

:04:05.:04:14.
:04:15.:04:16.

on to the next piece. They are there to win. So good we be riding

:04:17.:04:22.

of the confidence? Victoria Kmova had some disappointment when she

:04:22.:04:26.

fell on the beam and messed up on the floor but she is a first-year

:04:27.:04:30.

senior and it takes time to get used to the pressure. I think she

:04:30.:04:34.

will have been thinking that everybody is watching us. She has

:04:34.:04:42.

had a tough year. She has only just made it back for the championships.

:04:42.:04:47.

And Hannah Whelan, she is 13th, I think. That is right. Can she get

:04:47.:04:52.

into the top 12? She has been training really hard. She has been

:04:52.:04:56.

consistent throughout the year. Hopefully she can go out there

:04:56.:05:00.

tonight. She made a couple of areas in the team final and was still up

:05:00.:05:06.

there. We hope that tonight will be her night to break into the top 12.

:05:07.:05:11.

We can see the line-up for the women's all-around final. This will

:05:11.:05:15.

be individual gymnasts competing Through four pieces of apparatus.

:05:16.:05:23.

That is the top group, the top qualifiers. Victoria Kmova was the

:05:23.:05:28.

highest qualifier for this competition. There will be a

:05:28.:05:33.

tightly fought battle between her and Jordyn Wieber. Yes, very

:05:33.:05:38.

tightly fought. They are the two gymnasts with the big star of

:05:38.:05:43.

values. If they do not make mistakes, people cannot catch them.

:05:43.:05:51.

Further down the field, we have the Brazilian, 24 gymnasts in all. This

:05:51.:05:56.

is not necessarily the top 24 gymnasts in the world. You are only

:05:56.:06:02.

allowed two their country and you have got China, Japan and America,

:06:02.:06:08.

who have qualified four gymnasts in that top number. Taking that into

:06:08.:06:11.

account and removing those gymnasts from the top 24 that are not

:06:11.:06:15.

allowed to be here, we have Hannah Whelan in 13th place, as far as

:06:15.:06:19.

Great Britain is concerned. So a wonderful performance from her and

:06:19.:06:25.

she will be looking to get into the golden top 12. Very much so. Hannah

:06:25.:06:29.

Whelan would have qualified whatever the ruling. You are right,

:06:29.:06:33.

the very powerful nations, all of their gymnasts are strong, and they

:06:33.:06:37.

are only allowed the top two to qualify. They are in effect

:06:38.:06:44.

fighting within their team to be getting the right to be in the

:06:44.:06:47.

individual final. The top qualifiers will go through in the

:06:47.:06:51.

same group, which shows us how things are lying, gymnast a gymnast.

:06:51.:06:55.

It is very rare for people from a lower group to jump up, but it does

:06:55.:07:00.

happen. Usually the winner will come from the top group. It is

:07:00.:07:05.

unusual for somebody in the second group to get into the rankings. But

:07:05.:07:14.

it has happened. These are the top six gymnasts and this is group one.

:07:14.:07:18.

Victoria Kmova from Russia. Interesting to see what happens to

:07:18.:07:22.

her. She had a nightmare in the team final. She did incredibly well

:07:22.:07:27.

in qualification but she kind of lost it for Russia. She did, really.

:07:27.:07:35.

Hannah Whelan as well. Victoria Kmova had surgery on her ankle in

:07:35.:07:40.

May, so she is relatively on the way back to full fitness. I think

:07:40.:07:44.

that day one took quite a lot out of her. She was not quite able to

:07:44.:07:49.

fire at the same level on day two. She had a bit of a rest and she

:07:49.:07:54.

will no doubt be keen to put that behind her and prove herself today.

:07:54.:08:03.

All eyes on the stock group again. -- this top group. Her first World

:08:04.:08:12.

Championships as well, which is a big deal. Especially because third

:08:12.:08:16.

-- her team-mate is not in this competition. Perhaps she will not

:08:16.:08:20.

have that weight on her shoulders tonight and we will see more of

:08:20.:08:24.

what she is capable of. To replace that team-mate is a real challenge.

:08:24.:08:34.
:08:34.:08:47.

Hannah Whelan is in the third group and they will be competing on beam.

:08:47.:08:54.

This gymnast, Ana Porgras of Romania, she could look into the

:08:54.:08:58.

top group. She had some areas in qualification, but she has got

:08:58.:09:04.

those qualities. Indeed, she was World Champion on beam at the last

:09:04.:09:13.

World Championships. She will get off to a great start. It would be

:09:13.:09:17.

good if she could leapfrog, it would add some spice to the

:09:17.:09:27.
:09:27.:09:36.

this top group. Huang Quishuang and Yao Jinnan. Lots of gymnasts are

:09:36.:09:40.

going for the wrist support. That power that they are all putting in

:09:40.:09:45.

to convert the speed from the run up into the height, that really

:09:45.:09:50.

takes its toll on your wrists. and they find it mostly when they

:09:50.:09:54.

planned their hands in the round- off before the platform.

:09:54.:09:58.

Particularly their second hand down takes a lot of weight and pressure.

:09:58.:10:01.

They have that match at the front of the springboard to help to

:10:01.:10:10.

absorb the pressure. And we call them panda pause. They are not

:10:10.:10:20.
:10:20.:10:20.

support but they stop the wrists taking too much pressure. We have

:10:20.:10:30.

just glimpsed the scoreboard. This vault is 5-8 difficulty. It will be

:10:30.:10:37.

marked out of 15.8. We will see a lot of these gymnasts performing

:10:37.:10:42.

this vault. The straight somersault with a double twist. The board is

:10:42.:10:49.

set. Gin and yeah joiner. She competed on all of the apparatus to

:10:49.:10:59.
:10:59.:11:00.

help China to that bronze medal in the team final. -- Yao Jinnan.

:11:00.:11:04.

was a beautiful performance. It had lived, Hyde, style and wonderful

:11:04.:11:14.
:11:14.:11:14.

direction. -- height of. wonderful start for the 16 year-old.

:11:14.:11:20.

Her conversion is very effective. Very clean. Write down the middle.

:11:20.:11:24.

A terrific vault and the perfect way to start the competition. She

:11:24.:11:29.

is working hard to keep her legs together. Her shoulders are up on

:11:29.:11:35.

landing. Textbook stuff. We will be looking for a high executions go

:11:35.:11:42.

with that one. It is out of 15.8. - - High executioner score. She

:11:43.:11:52.

scored a high 14 in qualification. She will want more than that.

:11:52.:11:58.

not think the judges will be able to find too many deductions. It was

:11:58.:12:04.

high, perhaps not as long as some. They might find some deductions.

:12:04.:12:09.

Style, landing... We that take down the middle, you could see that it

:12:09.:12:19.
:12:19.:12:21.

was dead straight. -- with that tape down the middle. She only gets

:12:21.:12:31.
:12:31.:12:41.

qualifier. I can tell you now that her mother is standing just behind

:12:41.:12:51.
:12:51.:12:55.

us. She is rocking to and fro with her hands grasped. Two-and-a-half

:12:55.:13:02.

twists, and she almost overcooked it. Just one place forwards.

:13:02.:13:11.

mother shouted out, a good job! left to seek to come and watch.

:13:11.:13:18.

That was out of 6.5. She can afford to have quite a few more deductions

:13:18.:13:22.

and I think there will be some because there was a bit of a step

:13:22.:13:32.
:13:32.:13:53.

swings effortlessly. A second really strong handstand. Full

:13:53.:14:03.
:14:03.:14:18.

terrible. That was short as well. You could see that she did not

:14:18.:14:23.

quite hit the handstand. She did not get her legs in properly. Such

:14:23.:14:28.

a disappointed gymnast. Japanese men had a nightmare on the

:14:28.:14:35.

bar yesterday. What a shame for her. She got bronze at the World

:14:35.:14:42.

Championships in London. I think it will be out of her grasp now.

:14:42.:14:45.

think so that you get straight back up. That really is a disappointment

:14:45.:14:52.

for her. The gymnasts have 30 seconds when they fought to put the

:14:52.:14:56.

chalk on their hands, and she should have taken that time. --

:14:56.:15:06.
:15:06.:15:26.

The score to beat, 14.966. Best one posted by Yao Jinnan. She had

:15:27.:15:31.

deductions for that first vault, Jinnan. The judges are certainly

:15:31.:15:38.

having a long think about this. Well, she's gone ahead of her,

:15:38.:15:48.
:15:48.:16:27.

It does look that way. A bit of blinking going on.

:16:27.:16:37.
:16:37.:16:46.

The first three gymnasts were all hit all her angles correctly. Can't

:16:47.:16:56.

power herself through. Considering the scores are in for

:16:56.:17:03.

Wieber I don't know why she is being held so long. A big test for

:17:03.:17:12.

her. Before your first performance in a world final you don't want

:17:12.:17:15.

this. It's a double twist she's rehearsing.

:17:15.:17:19.

Just to let you know we are not in charge of the pictures here, or we

:17:19.:17:23.

would be showing you a lot more gymnastics but we quite enjoy

:17:23.:17:33.
:17:33.:17:37.

watching her chalking up! Tur tur tur had made the bar final -- Koko

:17:37.:17:47.
:17:47.:17:58.

Tsurumi had made the bar final. I'm going to start clapping in a

:17:58.:18:03.

minute. It is difficult to know why the delay really. All the scores

:18:03.:18:13.
:18:13.:18:13.

are in. Hannah Whelan is waiting on the beam, so whether there's a

:18:13.:18:17.

technical hitch perhaps with the scoreboard, because there is no-one

:18:17.:18:27.
:18:27.:18:27.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:18:27.:19:08.

performance but it's a good dismount, twisting in the double

:19:08.:19:14.

and just a pace back. Yes, the Romanians lose a bit on style and

:19:14.:19:23.

technique to be -- on the asymmetric bars. I think this went

:19:23.:19:28.

the wrong way. She intended to come forward. That was a bit of an exit

:19:28.:19:36.

she had to get. She managed to make the reverse grip. She managed a

:19:36.:19:42.

high Jaeger, caught with nice arms that time. Slightly legs flickering

:19:42.:19:47.

apart. The judges are eagle eyed with their pens but a super

:19:48.:19:52.

dismount. Really well flighted and landed. Speaking of landing we are

:19:52.:19:57.

about to see Hannah Whelan land. She took a little hop forward on

:19:57.:20:07.

dismount but she got through the routine. Haidu scores 13.366.

:20:07.:20:17.
:20:17.:20:21.

Haidu is in the second batch of six individual all-around med A

:20:21.:20:26.

really works on this run. Lifts up high. Lovely style on that double

:20:26.:20:32.

twist. Not the most difficult fault but really the most stylish. Super

:20:32.:20:36.

style and great composure considering she had to wait nearly

:20:36.:20:41.

five minutes on the runway. That was the first test she had tonight.

:20:42.:20:46.

She attacked really well. Measured her approach. Good, strong contact.

:20:46.:20:52.

Wraps the twist in just a tiny bit to the side of the line but very

:20:52.:20:55.

disciplined, pushing the shoulder down, wrapping the arms in, keeping

:20:55.:21:00.

the head nice and tight. Shoulders up on landing.

:21:00.:21:10.
:21:10.:21:24.

Pleased to have got that under her belt. That's the one piece of

:21:24.:21:29.

apparatus she doesn't have better start value than Jordyn Wieber. She

:21:29.:21:36.

knew she was under pressure on this piece from the start.

:21:36.:21:46.
:21:46.:22:13.

Hannah's score is in. 14.333. go, Huang Quishuang. A 19-year-old.

:22:13.:22:23.
:22:23.:22:43.

She competed for China in the team she made contact with the platform.

:22:43.:22:53.
:22:53.:22:55.

Magnifyed from the double twist. Elisabeth Seitz on the bars. Watch

:22:55.:23:05.
:23:05.:23:08.

that move. Another first, fabulous - not a first but a beginning ga

:23:08.:23:15.

with full twist into a Jaeger. -- ginga with full twist into a

:23:15.:23:22.

Jaeger. The difficulty is enormous but

:23:22.:23:28.

there are deductions. You can see a little bit soggy through the back.

:23:28.:23:33.

A twist double back, but what difficulty packed into that routine.

:23:33.:23:37.

She had a go. She made the bar final at the last Championships,

:23:37.:23:41.

and that is why. Difficulty is the key.

:23:41.:23:46.

You can either go execution or difficulty. Pile it in, that's what

:23:46.:23:51.

I say. Really exciting stuff wasn't it Christine? Really exciting. She

:23:51.:23:56.

hasn't made bar final here, because for every difficult move she lost

:23:56.:24:04.

marks with the legs apart. 14.733. She is in fourth. Another

:24:04.:24:14.
:24:14.:24:39.

team who was a member of the team in Beijing. Sites sites, 13.933 --

:24:39.:24:49.

Elisabeth Seitz, 13.933. A double twist but it was a bit

:24:49.:24:53.

loose legged and deep on the landing. These double twists,

:24:53.:24:57.

you've got make them clean, high, and stick to the carpet on the

:24:57.:25:04.

landing. She did a 14.8 in the team final.

:25:04.:25:11.

The thing is the start value goes up so well. Coachs are tempted to

:25:11.:25:16.

go for it even if there are some deductions, and you can see

:25:16.:25:21.

deductions here. The knees are a little bit bent.

:25:21.:25:24.

She just buckled a little on landing.

:25:24.:25:32.

You can see how low the niece were over the feet.

:25:32.:25:42.
:25:42.:25:43.

15.716 is the highest score we've seen so far on vault, Jordyn Wieber.

:25:43.:25:48.

That is her big advantage, Jordyn Wieber, over the rest of the field.

:25:48.:25:55.

She has a vault that's worth so much more, 0.7 more. It is like she

:25:55.:26:05.
:26:05.:26:12.

has that as a start. Bars will be International Gymnast about her

:26:12.:26:18.

being the only one of the Russian team not to be using hand guards.

:26:18.:26:23.

At the same time when there wasn't a lot of money in Russia the

:26:23.:26:27.

leather was impossible to get hold of. Many of the girls use these

:26:28.:26:33.

little bits of tape around the hands. It's a nightmare if you are

:26:33.:26:37.

a gymnast sharing apparatus with them, because they like the bars

:26:37.:26:47.
:26:47.:27:24.

scraped flat. It is fifth for her her waiting and don't want to show

:27:24.:27:34.
:27:34.:27:34.

us anything nels the meantime! -- else in the meantime!

:27:34.:27:38.

Fabulous height. Wonderful direction as well. She made sure

:27:38.:27:43.

everybody saw that was a dead landing. If she wants second she

:27:43.:27:51.

needs over 14.966. Well, out of 15.8, if they can keep the

:27:51.:27:56.

deductions down... The landing might have been dead, Christine,

:27:56.:28:00.

but her hopes are very much alive. Getting close to the top with this

:28:00.:28:07.

vault, a caerk. Nice and high, really -- a cracker. Nice and high,

:28:07.:28:12.

really tight. The landing, couldn't have wished for better. Plenty of

:28:12.:28:22.
:28:22.:28:49.

top on the vault. A great start for It's Ana Porgras for Romania.

:28:49.:28:52.

She was beam world champion last year.

:28:52.:29:02.
:29:02.:29:13.

It was her best piece in flips into a really well held vait

:29:13.:29:23.
:29:23.:30:02.

somer Wall Street -- straight Gymnasts have to show the split

:30:02.:30:09.

position in leaps. She does that with ease.

:30:09.:30:18.

Two flips and a double pike. That was class beam work.

:30:18.:30:24.

She looks a lot different than she did in qualifying. Got her head

:30:24.:30:34.
:30:34.:30:34.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:30:34.:31:29.

together and is back to the Ana second! Just behind her team-mate,

:31:29.:31:39.
:31:39.:31:39.

Jordyn Wieber, winning the field at the moment. Ana Porgras has just

:31:40.:31:48.

come in. It is challenging for a medal. Ana Porgras, 15.1, takes her

:31:48.:31:57.

into third. Yao Jinnan is down into 4th. Look at No. 8! Hannah Whelan.

:31:57.:32:05.

A solid start from her. Especially as that is the beam score and the

:32:05.:32:15.
:32:15.:32:15.

vault usually carries a higher score. Venessa Ferrari will be

:32:15.:32:24.

looking for a top 10 spot if she can. Lauren Mitchell is

:32:24.:32:34.
:32:34.:32:35.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:32:35.:33:21.

uncharacteristically at 23rd. She seconds for each gymnast, and you

:33:21.:33:25.

get a three minute warm-up as you move around the apparatus. Just a

:33:25.:33:29.

quick time to get a quick feel of it before your performance. Hannah

:33:29.:33:38.

Whelan moves over to floor. 14.1 in a team final. She did incredibly

:33:38.:33:41.

well for the team, as did all of the members, to get the fifth-place

:33:42.:33:45.

finish. I was talking to Beth Tweddle earlier, and you could

:33:45.:33:50.

never have predicted it. The Japanese did not have a great

:33:50.:33:55.

competition, to be fair. That kind of helped them into 5th place.

:33:55.:34:00.

think the Japanese have peaked for the first day of competition. They

:34:00.:34:05.

found it difficult to get going since then. The British girls

:34:05.:34:10.

prepared very well. They have been together for six weeks and they

lots of routines. They were very focused on doing the job. They have

the friendly with Romania two weeks before this. On finals day, the

:34:27.:34:30.

British coaches decided to use it as a practice for the team final.

:34:30.:34:34.

They put the three gymnasts on each apparatus that they thought they

:34:34.:34:37.

would use for the team final and they were did exactly as they did

:34:37.:34:45.

here. They have really taken it seriously. -- they used it exactly

about confidence because she was time. Her head was not really far

enough back on that and I doubt the judges will credit that moved. That

:35:26.:35:30.

was a little bit short on the splits. All these leaps are

:35:30.:35:40.

supposed to show 180 degrees splits. Good control on the free card will.

coming through from Romania. The acrobatics are great but there is

:36:02.:36:09.

still some work to do. Especially on the dance work. The acrobatics

:36:09.:36:19.
:36:19.:36:21.

were really well done. Two Phillips and a double pike dismount. They

:36:21.:36:25.

get a bit of extra time on the bars warm-up because they can alter the

:36:25.:36:29.

distance between them. Each gymnast has given 50 seconds from the

:36:29.:36:33.

moment that they start. That is partly because they like them to be

:36:33.:36:38.

slightly different. The chalk Rob Tobin, rub off, whatever. The

:36:38.:36:42.

timing does not start until they get on to the bars. They do not

difficulty but there was a serious error in the middle. Signs that she

:38:11.:38:21.
:38:21.:38:30.

is human amongst that difficulty! top carries five. Talking about

:38:30.:38:33.

that bar routine, it really was quite sub-standard from what we

:38:33.:38:39.

have seen from there. She struggled on a two forward elements. She had

:38:39.:38:49.
:38:49.:39:10.

to use some power to get them over. we are still waiting for Jordyn

:39:10.:39:17.

Wieber's score. I love this sport because you gain on the swings and

:39:17.:39:21.

you lose on the roundabouts. can tell from her face that she is

:39:21.:39:25.

not pleased. She is not made for bars. She is made for the power

:39:25.:39:30.

events. I expect she has had to learn very hard to swing. She let

:39:30.:39:35.

the swing overtake her. She did not kill it enough to hit the handstand.

:39:35.:39:42.

She recovered well. A gymnast with less strength would have clattered

:39:42.:39:52.
:39:52.:40:10.

ahead. But for how long? That is the question. We have just seen

:40:10.:40:19.

Hannah Whelan complete a very good score -- floor routine. We have not

:40:20.:40:29.

got the score yet. Victoria Komova is second and looking to make a

:40:29.:40:39.
:40:39.:41:16.

some lovely leg work. Will that be worth more than 13.6? Definitely.

:41:16.:41:23.

That was a big, big challenge. Hannah Whelan's floor. This is a

:43:06.:43:06.

performance. Victoria Komova takes the lead by one hole mark. That was

:43:06.:43:11.

a really classy asymmetric bars performance by Victoria Komova. She

in the team final so that was a great performance from her. Brace

:44:49.:44:54.

Hannah Whelan. It reflected the wonderfully clean landings. And

:44:55.:44:58.

expressive floor routine and she has worked very hard on the

:44:58.:45:02.

presentation. Lots of marks are given for artistry and performance.

:45:02.:45:07.

She will have got lots of those bonuses. She's bought 14.1 in the

:45:07.:45:14.

team final. -- sheep sport. She had a little penalty, we don't know why,

:45:14.:45:24.
:45:24.:45:31.

They will move over to the beam in a moment.

:45:31.:45:40.

Well, a surprise for Whelan. Real disappointment for her looking for

:45:40.:45:45.

this individual gold. The Americans are powering their way to gold.

:45:45.:45:52.

was the apparatus she didn't score so well on.

:45:52.:45:57.

Powerful vaulting, one-and-a-half twists, kicks her legs out and

:45:57.:46:07.
:46:07.:46:11.

wraps one-and-a-half turns in. That pushes Wieber down into third.

:46:12.:46:21.
:46:22.:47:00.

transfer with a half-turn. Smooth work here. Very nicely flighted.

:47:00.:47:06.

Caught with straight arms and a big catch. Short on rotation but she

:47:06.:47:11.

takes into it a somersault. Good bonus for linking the moves but she

:47:11.:47:17.

was at a standstill by the time she got there. Hits the handstand,

:47:17.:47:21.

winds up into the dismount, full twisting double back. She got it

:47:21.:47:28.

all in but it looked a bit of a scrabble. She's a bit heavy on if

:47:28.:47:34.

landings. -- on the landings. She packs it

:47:34.:47:42.

all in, really does fill the routine and gives it the Max.

:47:42.:47:51.

Nicely flighting in the Jaeger, plenty of rotation. Keeps the swing

:47:51.:48:01.
:48:01.:48:01.

going well. This is where she really got busy.

:48:01.:48:04.

The shoulders weren't back enough to guarantee more rotation but you

:48:04.:48:09.

can see the result. That was a really good battling performance.

:48:09.:48:13.

She went for all her links. If you add the moves together they give

:48:13.:48:21.

you the extra marks. Giulia Steingruber 14.866 for a second

:48:21.:48:26.

piece of apparatus vault. Goes into sixth. She's one of the big vaulter

:48:26.:48:33.

in the vault final later in the week.

:48:34.:48:41.

Kseniia Afanaseva has moved up three places. 14.2 for bars, just

:48:41.:48:51.
:48:51.:49:02.

outside of medal contention. Two old. Fifth on the floor.

:49:02.:49:07.

Traditionally beam and floor very good for Romania. Emfat nick the

:49:07.:49:17.
:49:17.:49:51.

Nicely under control. Nice touches important to the projection of the

:49:51.:50:01.
:50:01.:50:24.

exercise. That was a little bounce the double tuck. A double pike and

:50:24.:50:34.
:50:34.:50:35.

a similar area. That was a pity. beautiful, supple routine.

:50:35.:50:45.

Here's Alexandra Raisman. She was second after vault.

:50:45.:50:52.

Lifts well up to the high bar. Just a tiny bit short of hand-stand.

:50:52.:50:57.

Half turn, a huge Jaeger. Again just a little untidy with the feet.

:50:57.:51:07.

A full pirouette. Into the Katchev. She did handstand hop and just

:51:07.:51:13.

missed the hand. All those swings, and again she's really got herself

:51:13.:51:19.

rattled. She should have stopped, calmed herself down like she is now.

:51:19.:51:26.

It is into the dismount, double front, she lands that but that will

:51:26.:51:30.

probably be three whole marks deducted for that. Two falls.

:51:30.:51:36.

was rat frld the beginning. When you mentioned the -- rattled from

:51:36.:51:40.

the beginning. She is not a class worker on asymmetric bars. It is

:51:40.:51:45.

all power and push, and she just didn't seem to be settled.

:51:45.:51:53.

There were touches, there wasn't even one clean scale, and she

:51:53.:51:58.

didn't get the grip properly underneath. Then she got herself

:51:58.:52:05.

into a tizz. She should have taken her time. There was the double tuck

:52:05.:52:12.

but so much damage done to any medal hope there is. A real

:52:12.:52:17.

surprise. Raisman moves from second to ninth. 12.9. What a different

:52:17.:52:24.

story this is for the Americans. Ana Porgras is just outside medal

:52:24.:52:31.

contention. 13.966 for floor puts her in fourth.

:52:31.:52:41.
:52:41.:53:10.

Just a few errors for Ana Porgras plenty of flight.

:53:10.:53:16.

She's got hit every handstand and every release.

:53:16.:53:26.
:53:26.:53:35.

Jaeger. If she stands it up, it will be a huge challenge. That was

:53:35.:53:43.

terrific. What can they take from it? She was in fourth. I'm sure her

:53:43.:53:51.

score will build from there. Komova currently leads with a 15.4 on bars.

:53:51.:53:56.

That was cleaner than Komova's performance. It was a really tight,

:53:56.:54:02.

well-flighted performance. The catches are at arm's length,

:54:02.:54:11.

the handstands are clean. Look how high. Catches are really

:54:11.:54:17.

at full stretch. This is what we mean when we say swings with

:54:17.:54:22.

fluency. A lovely straight body. Nails the landing. That was a

:54:22.:54:32.
:54:32.:54:41.

Lovely height. The one-and-a-half twists not as difficult as some.

:54:41.:54:51.
:54:51.:54:56.

Three Olympic Games she's performed Yao Jinnan is now behind Victoria

:54:56.:55:05.

Komova. 14.3 for Daniele Matias Hypolito.

:55:05.:55:15.
:55:15.:55:26.

Into ninth at this stage. A five World Championships. Great for

:55:26.:55:33.

the sport. And still performing. They have had a bit of a change at

:55:33.:55:43.
:55:43.:55:58.

the top in Brazil. Victoria Komova the American gymnasts after this

:55:58.:56:03.

second piece of apparatus. Do you think their priority was on the

:56:03.:56:09.

team and they are off the boil a little? Their priority is off the

:56:09.:56:15.

team but I don't think they are off the boil. They are not great on

:56:15.:56:19.

bars and when you are in the same group as kids who are great on bars

:56:19.:56:25.

you have that question in your mind, don't you? Understandable. She's

:56:25.:56:31.

smiling. Do you think she's a bit harshly done by on bars? Whether

:56:31.:56:37.

she got all her difficulty given. Yes, they've given her a D score of

:56:37.:56:47.
:56:47.:56:47.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:56:47.:57:32.

6.7. Yao Jinnan is in seconds. predicted. The Americans, what's

:57:32.:57:38.

going on with both of them? It just shows what pressure can do. A

:57:38.:57:43.

couple of mistakes on bars and Jordyn missed her hands. Wonderful

:57:43.:57:49.

composure from Komova as well. She was held at the of the runway for

:57:49.:57:54.

ages before she could even start her vault. Went on to bars and is

:57:54.:57:58.

really building. It shows how experienced she is at international

:57:58.:58:01.

competition to be able to stand at the end of the runway for five

:58:01.:58:07.

minutes. She went to bars, one of her favourite pieces, and got the

:58:07.:58:13.

stop score of the competition. Ana Porgras is worth keeping her

:58:13.:58:19.

eye on. Yes, in qualification she missed a beam. She is out of the

:58:20.:58:23.

pressure group. She's up there in the standings. You know Hannah but

:58:23.:58:29.

are you surprised to see her in seventh? Not at all. You see the

:58:29.:58:34.

mistakes that have been happening and Hannah kept it cool and calm.

:58:34.:58:39.

She did the best beam we've seen. Fingers crossed she can keep it

:58:39.:58:46.

going for vault and bars. On to the third bit of apparatus.

:58:46.:58:53.

Seventh at halfway for Hannah. I think that's excellent. Beam and

:58:53.:58:58.

floor are probably her two best pieces, so she will have been

:58:58.:59:03.

delighted to perform both to the best of her ability. Vault is not

:59:03.:59:13.
:59:13.:59:26.

as difficult as some but she's a come back fighting. They are very

:59:26.:59:31.

good on the beam and I can't see them giving in at all.

:59:31.:59:38.

These young gymnasts who are in the lead still have got to surmount

:59:39.:59:48.
:59:49.:00:06.

that headache of a good beam on this bit of apparatus. That was

:00:06.:00:10.

different from the 15.4 in qualification. Something in the mid

:00:10.:00:15.

wool be good. The gap between one and two is

:00:15.:00:25.
:00:25.:00:44.

feet. Look how high that front somersault was.

:00:44.:00:53.

One back flip, a layout and a second. She looked composed.

:00:53.:01:03.
:01:03.:01:04.

Standing Arabian. She really is deceptive. A lovely split.

:01:04.:01:11.

She's got enormous power as well. This she has to concentrate on, a

:01:11.:01:17.

full spin leg -up. The pre - walkover. The jump, she took the

:01:17.:01:27.
:01:27.:01:35.

head back, got the difficulty for she stepped behind, but at least

:01:35.:01:42.

she did not fall off. That was a very good performance under

:01:42.:01:49.

pressure. In dude. She lost something on execution but not

:01:49.:01:57.

difficult to, and that is key. -- indeed. There were signs of

:01:58.:02:01.

presence and composer, even after the wobbles. Plenty of a Latakia,

:02:01.:02:11.
:02:11.:02:25.

which is what gave their problems. say. She will be moving on to floor

:02:25.:02:32.

with some more landing room. really is quite a special gymnast.

:02:32.:02:42.
:02:42.:02:54.

Classical but powerful. Very often vault. An absolute beauty.

:02:54.:02:59.

surprised you stayed in your seat! Christine is on her feet and so am

:02:59.:03:08.

I! She is greeted by her coach. She trains with Beth Tweddle as well.

:03:18.:03:23.

Textbook. She met the floor think she will go higher up the

:03:33.:03:54.

leaderboard. She is currently in Komova leads by two marks. That was

:03:54.:03:59.

almost one marked down on her stunning 15.4 of qualification. So

:03:59.:04:06.

she has left the door open to a very strong challenge. You get the

:04:06.:04:10.

feeling this will be another tight competition. It is unbelievable out

:04:10.:04:20.
:04:20.:04:25.

there. Can Huang Quishuang stay put and get through it? She needs to.

:04:25.:04:35.
:04:35.:04:52.

She cannot afford to make any and one off and that ankle must

:04:53.:04:58.

have script the side of the beam. Very uncomfortable. That was solid

:05:08.:05:16.

compose herself. She got straight back on and now she is going well

:05:16.:05:23.

again. I do not want to put a commentators curse on her, but that

:05:23.:05:33.
:05:33.:05:51.

one error was very expensive. Now error but it was expensive. That

:05:51.:05:56.

seemed so uncharacteristic for the rest of the routine. Yes. She was a

:05:56.:06:00.

bit slow on the back flip. They have to use the back flip to give

:06:00.:06:09.

themselves some power. She was almost looking forward when she

:06:09.:06:15.

took off, so she did not get her weight on to the second foot. She

:06:15.:06:21.

planted her feet very well at the end for the dismount. She will be

:06:21.:06:25.

deducted for this landing because you can see that when the feet land,

:06:25.:06:31.

the chest is facing the floor. They can take up to 0.5 for that. That

:06:31.:06:41.
:06:41.:07:14.

from Italy, now 20 years old. We have watched her grow up through

:07:14.:07:22.

the years. She was six on floor at the last World Championships and

:07:22.:07:32.
:07:32.:07:39.

becoming World Champion. Look at that! Double twisting and double

:07:39.:07:43.

back. That is the first time since then that we have seen a complete

:07:43.:07:53.
:07:53.:07:53.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

to make this final tumble. That was a great double pike and this is

:08:56.:09:00.

fabulous. Vanessa Ferrari was in the top eight, just behind Hannah

:09:00.:09:10.
:09:10.:09:15.

Whelan. She is chlorine her way up. -- grappling her way up. When

:09:15.:09:19.

things got tough, she stuck in there and she came back and fought

:09:19.:09:24.

to regain some confidence. This double twist and double that was

:09:24.:09:26.

what she competed in her first world champions and we have not

:09:26.:09:34.

seen it again since then until this year. Very impressive. She did

:09:34.:09:40.

Grove. She was tiny when we first saw her. She had to reversion all

:09:40.:09:45.

of her work. Similarly with Hannah Whelan, she has had a growth spurt.

:09:45.:09:50.

Yes, she was the baby of the team in Beijing. She has really grown

:09:50.:09:59.

and reorganise to work. -- reorganised her work. So big

:09:59.:10:09.
:10:09.:10:29.

Full twist in the straight somersault position. Very clean.

:10:29.:10:38.

Very nice. 5th in the all-around last year. Straight arms, good lift.

:10:38.:10:43.

She gave the judges almost nothing to deduct. If you can keep your

:10:43.:10:52.

deductions low, you do not have to do such difficult work. First-class

:10:52.:11:02.
:11:02.:11:09.

far and at the moment she is in a bronze medal contention. 14.1. One

:11:09.:11:18.

more piece to go. Ferrari is now in 5th after that floor routine. 14.5

:11:18.:11:28.
:11:28.:11:44.

in qualifying on this apparatus. Plenty of pedigree. That was a very

:11:44.:11:53.

expensive first moves. The standing Arabian is very difficult. And beam

:12:03.:12:03.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:12:03.:12:43.

Hours of practice goes into this gymnast ever to perform it. Always

:12:43.:12:46.

difficult to keep your concentration when you make a

:12:46.:12:50.

mistake right at the beginning. She knows that she must do a good

:12:50.:12:56.

dismount. She buckled a bit on the knees as well. She was not used in

:12:56.:13:00.

the team final for Russia on that piece of apparatus. Maybe not

:13:00.:13:10.

consistent enough. He did not look very consistent today! -- it did

:13:10.:13:15.

not. Very hard to marry the twist from a somersault with a standing

:13:15.:13:20.

start. If you pull your shoulders too soon, you will be off-target

:13:20.:13:27.

and she was. There were tiny moments in that routine when she

:13:27.:13:34.

lost her focus. On the finish, that was quite a buckle. Unfortunate.

:13:34.:13:41.

She stays in 6th. 13.4, so not too costly in turns of position but she

:13:41.:13:51.
:13:51.:14:08.

and going for an execution score. She performed very well in the all-

:14:08.:14:13.

around. The team did not make that top group. She was an outstanding

:14:13.:14:21.

performer for them. You can see this vault has a good flight on but

:14:21.:14:29.

it dies a bit off. You can see that with some of the vaults with more

:14:29.:14:39.

flight. Her best finish his 19th in the all-around, last year. She is

:14:39.:14:49.
:14:49.:15:20.

hangs in there because I want Hannah Whelan to move up! She has

:15:21.:15:28.

done fantastically. Apologies if you are listening in Romania.

:15:28.:15:34.

we have Hannah Whelan's mother behind us. This must be the lucky

:15:34.:15:44.
:15:44.:16:05.

And how ever many times you've practised it, it is never quite the

:16:05.:16:15.
:16:15.:16:48.

same as in front of a huge crowd somersault, only one foot on the

:16:48.:16:58.
:16:58.:17:17.

stiff and static here. You can see the nerves in the performance.

:17:17.:17:22.

Every move with a bit of a stop before and after, and that's

:17:22.:17:32.
:17:32.:17:34.

something the judges deduct for. A wobble at the end. But that was

:17:34.:17:44.
:17:44.:17:53.

good. Took the head back. Completed a very good dismount. What a shame

with the bit in the middle. I think she was a bit offline in the first

:17:58.:18:05.

flip and tried to collect it. Lauren Mitchell on the floor. First

:18:05.:18:15.
:18:15.:18:35.

Nice full-in and a down. This is more like the Lauren

:18:35.:18:45.
:18:45.:19:05.

Mitchell we've come to expect. And is being used. A heel on the corner.

:19:05.:19:10.

A little leap with changed leg at the end of it shows she's in

:19:10.:19:17.

control. Head well back on the ring slip.

:19:17.:19:27.
:19:27.:19:37.

Back to where she enjoys, back on double pike with a leap at the end.

:19:37.:19:41.

Well done, Lauren Mitchell. Back on song, Lauren. The first Australian

:19:41.:19:51.
:19:51.:19:55.

woman to win a gold at the World Championships.

:19:55.:20:00.

It's been a bit of an indifferent Championships for her. She's done

:20:00.:20:04.

the important thing - led her team to the qualification of the

:20:04.:20:08.

Olympics. She's so good at these landings, rebounds out of it into a

:20:08.:20:14.

jump. That means the judges can't deduct for steps on landing, and

:20:14.:20:18.

give her a bonus for jumping out from the landing. She was very

:20:18.:20:28.
:20:28.:20:29.

pleased with herself there. 15.033. That puts Lauren Mitchell

:20:29.:20:39.
:20:39.:20:42.

into 8th. A costly fall, 13.933. -- 14.933.

:20:42.:20:52.
:20:52.:20:53.

She is still clinging on to second. What can Jordyn Wieber do here?

:20:53.:20:58.

She is in fourth. I think she will feel much more

:20:58.:21:02.

encouraged after seeing the errors from the other gymnasts. The door

:21:02.:21:09.

is open to fight back. The one-handed flip into the layout

:21:09.:21:15.

somersault. Good height on the leap, good commitment to join the leap to

:21:16.:21:25.
:21:26.:21:29.

the pike-backed somer sau. -- somersault. She is so powerful.

:21:29.:21:39.
:21:39.:21:46.

Great precision. Leg well held. Another good leap.

:21:46.:21:53.

The quarter turn. The free cartwheel, but she does an

:21:53.:21:58.

enormously difficult skill right at the end here.

:21:58.:22:07.

The full twisting tuck-back into the back flip. She is really

:22:07.:22:15.

concentrating, giving it every bit of fight.

:22:15.:22:19.

Plants her feet on the beam. Two- and-a-half twists, just a little

:22:19.:22:25.

pace back. But that was a gritty fight-back. Totally focused on her

:22:25.:22:32.

medal. One more piece to. It's floor.

:22:32.:22:35.

She's brought the spark back into this competition with that

:22:36.:22:41.

performance. It is a thriller. She needs a 15.7 to take the lead.

:22:41.:22:48.

Currently the highest score is Komova with 15.4.

:22:48.:22:54.

So much determination, and that came towards the end of the routine.

:22:54.:23:01.

She really is in focus. She's given herself a fighting chance with this

:23:01.:23:06.

exercise. Building powerfully through the flicks. Two-and-a-half

:23:06.:23:12.

twists. She is centre with the beam. Beautiful work from her.

:23:12.:23:17.

A piece of apparatus she's much more comfortable on and she showed

:23:17.:23:27.
:23:27.:23:41.

that. She went there with That was a performance from the

:23:41.:23:51.
:23:51.:24:09.

routine has given her a real chance. Very disappointing that both the

:24:09.:24:14.

gymnasts from China fell away and didn't manage to complete them well.

:24:14.:24:21.

15.266. Now we have a competition. She's gone into second.

:24:22.:24:31.
:24:32.:25:10.

0.4 behind. If Komova can stay on mum. How are you feeling? Very

:25:10.:25:16.

nervous. Bars are her least favourite piece, and that's the

:25:16.:25:20.

last one to go. Are you sitting down or standing for this

:25:21.:25:26.

competition? Sitting down clinging to my other daughter's hand. So you

:25:26.:25:30.

can actually watch then? We are gymnastics fans but we are not

:25:30.:25:36.

really enjoying it, it is so nerve- racking. She's doing OK. Can she

:25:36.:25:42.

get over a 14 on bars? It is going to be tricky. A couple of scores

:25:42.:25:47.

have been slightly lower than 13, but on the first day she didn't get

:25:47.:25:52.

something counted. She's been working on that in the gym.

:25:52.:25:59.

Hopefully they'll be 13s or 14. word on the beam. For the leading

:25:59.:26:04.

group, quite a story and a few falls. It just shows that the

:26:04.:26:10.

pressure is getting to them. They all want that world title, you put

:26:10.:26:15.

yourself under so much pressure, sometimes it backfires on you.

:26:15.:26:20.

Jordyn Wieber grab that goal? isn't far behind. Her floor is

:26:20.:26:26.

strong. We all know that Komova has ankle injury. 1234 it is now the

:26:26.:26:32.

last piece. Where are you going to watch this? Back down there I think.

:26:32.:26:42.
:26:42.:26:53.

We wish you very best for the whole at the moment. This is the

:26:54.:26:59.

competition of her life. We've seen Hannah compete like this in Britain

:26:59.:27:04.

often. She's British champion, has been for the last two years, and

:27:04.:27:10.

she's a clean performer. Each time she comes to the world stage she's

:27:10.:27:14.

lost confidence in the all-around competition. If she can get through

:27:14.:27:19.

the bars cleanly, she will be showing us truly what she's capable

:27:19.:27:29.
:27:29.:27:33.

What a thriller in store. The final rotation.

:27:33.:27:39.

The Chinese are so skillful on bee. I know over the years they've

:27:39.:27:42.

faltered a bit and been inconsistent but you really did

:27:42.:27:52.
:27:52.:27:52.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:27:52.:28:37.

think they would hold it together. One-and-a-half twists into another

:28:37.:28:47.
:28:47.:29:20.

Moves fluently and easily. Big back flip, two-and-a-half twists. Lovely,

:29:20.:29:21.

elegant work, but not with massive difficulty. Not the sort of

:29:21.:29:26.

difficulty we are going to see from the Americans and the Russians.

:29:26.:29:30.

maybe not quite enough for a medal. She was in fourth of the third

:29:30.:29:36.

piece. She stayed on her feet, which the others still have to do.

:29:36.:29:40.

Her qualifying score was only 5.4 in difficulty. If you think the top

:29:40.:29:44.

ones are going to be in the sixes. Could well be under threat from for

:29:44.:29:51.

for. And the buefty of this last round is the -- beauty of this last

:29:51.:29:56.

round is is the difficulty is the same. This is going to be very

:29:56.:30:06.
:30:06.:30:06.

interesting. And hopefully Hannah Whelan as well.

:30:06.:30:09.

Hannah's performance so far has been amazing. She's moved up a

:30:09.:30:14.

place so far in every round. If she can perform the bar routine of her

:30:14.:30:20.

life, who knows what? Vanessa Ferrari is standing at the

:30:20.:30:30.
:30:30.:30:50.

Almost collided with the platform. But she's got so much power.

:30:50.:30:55.

Feeling the strain through the ankles. She went for broke, went

:30:55.:31:01.

for the double twist. Wasn't quite around. Rather than absorb the

:31:01.:31:05.

floor, she decided to allow herself to bounce off it. Hopefully not

:31:05.:31:15.
:31:15.:31:27.

done any serious damage but you can World Championships. -- Huang

:31:28.:31:34.

Quishuang. She has got a total of 57. We normally expect more than 60

:31:44.:31:44.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:31:44.:33:06.

straight position that the gymnast head. Selling the routine. We know

:33:06.:33:16.
:33:16.:33:26.

that she is great at tumbling. You spotted a few errors in the

:33:26.:33:30.

choreography and the dance elements in this bins. Yes, I think she fell

:33:30.:33:39.

out of both of the spins. It is a long way round. It is the longest

:33:39.:33:46.

axis and you really need power to go through it. She uses her head,

:33:46.:33:50.

but this routine really needs her face as well. An expression. It is

:33:50.:33:53.

very well choreographed but she needs to finish it off with the

:33:53.:34:03.
:34:03.:34:22.

be weighed down with that vault score. There are four chapters to

:34:22.:34:26.

this story, and each one has to be successful to really emerge

:34:26.:34:34.

victorious. Who has been the most consistent so far? Victoria Komova.

:34:34.:34:40.

Hastie be. If she can stand up on the floor proper late... Time to

:34:40.:34:50.
:34:50.:34:52.

phone home and say it was not to be this year. Maybe next year. The

:34:52.:34:58.

current leader after the last round. What lies in store for her? Kseniia

:34:58.:35:08.
:35:08.:35:30.

highest qualifier last year. needs fireworks. That is the one

:35:30.:35:40.
:35:40.:36:03.

that she left out of the team tumbling how she finds time to get

:36:03.:36:09.

the expression in. So far it is going well. Even on the dance

:36:09.:36:19.
:36:19.:36:53.

but she has left her best until last. It was good, no doubt about

:36:53.:37:00.

it, but coming from eight? Too much of a mountain to climb, I think. Or

:37:00.:37:09.

even jump for that matter. Ana Porgras is in 5th. This is not her

:37:09.:37:19.
:37:19.:37:33.

favourite apparatus. But can she was a full pirouette. Nearly

:37:33.:37:41.

demolishing her coach! Up to handstands smoothly. That was as

:37:41.:37:49.

well as she could do! It is not easy to get the big scores in bars.

:37:49.:37:59.
:37:59.:37:59.

She got one very big error. She did that one 1/2 pirouette. That is a

:37:59.:38:09.
:38:09.:38:22.

massive deduction. Five tenths? almost under rotated there. She has

:38:22.:38:26.

a reasonable start value for it. It is just whether they really hammer

:38:26.:38:35.

those turns. She has gone ahead of the rest of the field so far. But

:38:35.:38:40.

some big guns still to come. That is a big fight back for her. Very

:38:40.:38:47.

impressive tumbling. Three more gymnasts to go. Two more on bars to

:38:47.:38:57.
:38:57.:38:57.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:38:57.:39:38.

light of foot and she needs to sell there. She kept control through the

:39:38.:39:48.

spins. Superb. So much grace and elegance. She is tiny. She looks

:39:48.:39:58.
:39:58.:40:36.

Do you know what? I thought that was delightful. I totally agree. A

:40:36.:40:40.

charming routine with some excellent tumbling. Dancing to a

:40:40.:40:45.

medley from West Side story. What the story this would be if she

:40:45.:40:54.

could medal here! Floor is historically not great for Chinese

:40:54.:41:01.

gymnasts but that was a really special performance. Look at the

:41:01.:41:08.

height. She spots the landing. Plenty of time. She was very

:41:08.:41:13.

precise with those landings. When she could have taken a little step,

:41:13.:41:22.

she disciplined herself not to. The only small step was on that double

:41:22.:41:26.

pike. But she smiled and sold the routine, making it a pleasure to

:41:26.:41:36.
:41:36.:41:51.

watch. It is a delight to see work gymnasts to go on floor. Including

:41:51.:42:01.
:42:01.:42:26.

edge of town. -- to beat from medal. She will be out to beat that

:42:26.:42:36.
:42:36.:42:36.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:42:36.:43:45.

gave away just that 0.14 Stepping Out, but all in all, she has fought

:43:45.:43:54.

back very well. The score that she needs to get the medal is 14.016.

:43:54.:44:04.
:44:04.:44:13.

will be surprised if she does not double double. Not fazed at all by

:44:13.:44:21.

the pressure on her. She might grab the gold medal at the last minute.

:44:21.:44:27.

The Stepping Out might be expensive. She is still in with a very good

:44:27.:44:35.

chance. How much damage has she done? Her qualifying score was 14.5.

:44:35.:44:45.
:44:45.:44:50.

from what we have seen for the Americans. They have looked

:44:50.:45:00.
:45:00.:45:04.

vulnerable. Indeed. What is it going to be? Well, she is leading

:45:04.:45:14.
:45:14.:45:37.

years old. Can she score 14.367? If she can, she's world champion.

:45:37.:45:47.
:45:47.:46:23.

A great start. One-and-a-half That tumble pretty much under

:46:23.:46:32.

control for the twist. A superb effort so far.

:46:32.:46:37.

She dipped out past the vertical line at the end of the spins. The

:46:37.:46:47.
:46:47.:47:00.

Well, that's her bid. Is it good enough? I think she's landed that

:47:00.:47:09.

final tumble. I knew she had done enough. She's the gymnast that's

:47:09.:47:17.

worked without errors. Consistent, with touches of brilliance too.

:47:17.:47:26.

She's got the work. The bars were beautiful. And that floor routine

:47:26.:47:30.

was beautiful. Lovely tumbling. Her mother was part of the Soviet them

:47:30.:47:36.

that won the world gold medal in 1985. She's been destined to be a

:47:36.:47:43.

gymnast, and does have similarities to her mother in the real classical

:47:43.:47:48.

elegant style. A beautiful gymnast and will be a great chufpblt

:47:48.:47:58.
:47:58.:48:02.

-- a great champion. Faith toful the Swan Lake

:48:02.:48:09.

choreography as well -- faithful to the Swan Lake choreography as well.

:48:09.:48:19.
:48:19.:48:22.

Beautifully done. She's looking anxiously. Well! 14.333. She's gone

:48:22.:48:30.

into second. Just 0.033 behind Wieber. And you know, it will have

:48:30.:48:34.

been that fall out of the double spin. They will have counted that

:48:34.:48:41.

as a fall I think, why else that score? Well, Wieber can't believe

:48:41.:48:51.
:48:51.:48:52.

it. Komova can't believe it. She's decimated. I honestly thought she

:48:52.:48:59.

had nailed it. So did everyone here in this Arena. But you've made the

:48:59.:49:06.

point so many times, it is not only about the tumbles. What can you say

:49:06.:49:13.

to her now? The atmosphere here is one of disbelief. The only other

:49:13.:49:18.

place they would have had deductions that final tumble, where

:49:18.:49:24.

she landed and her chest was down. But hey! Wieber put her foot out of

:49:24.:49:28.

the floor. They've been scoring floor quite reasonably. Two sets of

:49:28.:49:38.

tears for different reasons. Hannah Whelan I can till scored

:49:38.:49:44.

13.258 and she finished nineth. Which is a fantastic performance,

:49:44.:49:50.

inside the top ten. A superb result for Hannah and for Great Britain.

:49:50.:50:00.
:50:00.:50:01.

Yao Jinnan scores 14.766. I was talking to Beth earlier. The idea

:50:01.:50:08.

was to try to aim for that 12. To finish nine for Hannah is brilliant.

:50:08.:50:16.

Top ten of the world, that's got a real ring to it. Just look at the

:50:16.:50:22.

state of Komova. I feel for her. She finished that floor routine.

:50:22.:50:29.

She looked down, a beaming smile on her face as if that was it.

:50:29.:50:33.

wonder whether the Russian camp will protest that score. They can

:50:33.:50:38.

protest the D score, the difficulty score. We saw a couple of protests

:50:38.:50:42.

being upheld last night, or two days ago, so I do wonder whether

:50:42.:50:47.

they might. Surely they are going to have a go? You would if you were

:50:47.:50:54.

the coach. Absolutely. When you see her like that, she really is 16

:50:54.:50:58.

years old. She gave in to the pressure there and you suddenly

:50:58.:51:02.

realise this is a young girl at the top of her game who really thought

:51:02.:51:08.

she had done it. I don't think for one minute Wieber thought she had

:51:08.:51:18.
:51:18.:51:19.

done it. No. Komova, not much of an exchange of tkwhranss -- glance

:51:19.:51:24.

there is. So Jordyn Wieber is the women's all-around world chufpblt

:51:24.:51:31.

Victoria Komova has to settle for sill -- champion. Victoria Komova

:51:31.:51:41.
:51:41.:52:17.

has to settle for silver. Yao delighted with that? I'm delighted

:52:17.:52:23.

to have improved so much. I enjoyed the competition today and I enjoyed

:52:23.:52:30.

my routines. What impressed you the most? The vault. Overall I really

:52:30.:52:37.

enjoyed the competition. I went out there and did four clean routines.

:52:37.:52:42.

The bars, if you can improve that a little, the only way is up? Bars

:52:42.:52:48.

are one of my weak pieces so hopefully I can improve on the bars

:52:48.:52:54.

and up my overall score. How do you think your performances have come

:52:54.:52:59.

on this week from the final? qualifications there was a lot of

:52:59.:53:04.

pressure. Teams, you want to do it for them as well. Today I just came

:53:04.:53:09.

here to enjoy it, without much pressure on me. But feel a top ten

:53:09.:53:14.

finish was in the offing today? was kind of wanting it secretly to

:53:14.:53:20.

myself. And then as I was going along it was seemed more possible.

:53:20.:53:24.

Looking ahead to the Olympics they can year, obviously there's a lot

:53:24.:53:29.

of work to do to get into the top eight in the world, but hate to be

:53:29.:53:38.

a target, -- but it has to be a target? I want to go back and do

:53:38.:53:45.

the best that I can do. Jordyn Wieber takes gold. You could well

:53:45.:53:52.

see those three on the medals podium in London 2012, but what

:53:52.:53:57.

order would they be in? Congratulations. There was gasps

:53:57.:54:02.

when the score came up. How did you file? Ways so surprised. I had a

:54:02.:54:09.

little mistake on bars but I tried my best. I finished the floor

:54:09.:54:14.

review even if the best I could. I was so happy. Were you worried at

:54:14.:54:20.

the time that you had blown your chance of a gold medal then?

:54:20.:54:26.

little bit. It was only halfway through. I knew I would come back

:54:26.:54:30.

strong. How important for your journey to London 2012 was getting

:54:30.:54:37.

on the podium here? It was very important. It was my first World

:54:37.:54:41.

Championships. He high expectations for myself. I wanted to do as well

:54:41.:54:46.

as I could. I'm so happy it turned out this way. There is so much

:54:46.:54:51.

competition to get into the team. Johnson is on the way back. The

:54:51.:54:56.

list is endless of people who could get into the team. Did you feel

:54:56.:55:01.

confident you've got the place not quite booked but you've underlined

:55:01.:55:06.

your name? I can't get too confident, there is a whole year.

:55:06.:55:10.

We've got strong girls in the US. If I keep healthy and work hard,

:55:10.:55:19.

can I reach that goal. And you have two gold med tools your name. Five

:55:19.:55:23.

gold medals? That would be a dream come true. I'm really excited to

:55:23.:55:27.

compete in the individual and then finals. The flags are descending

:55:27.:55:32.

behind us. We didn't expect that order at the finish, did we?

:55:32.:55:37.

probably did at the start of the day but the way the competition

:55:37.:55:43.

panned out, it was a surprise to us all. But when we looked back at the

:55:43.:55:47.

replays Komova gave the judges the opportunity to deduct and they took

:55:47.:55:52.

it. You put your money on Wieber but did you want Komova to win at

:55:53.:56:00.

the end. She is a lovely gymnast... Is that a yes? Yes. Unfortunately

:56:00.:56:03.

she struggled today with her feet. You could tell she wasn't happy on

:56:03.:56:08.

if floor. It was a case of I want to get through these routines and

:56:08.:56:13.

get off the floor. That's the thing with women's gymnastics, there's

:56:13.:56:19.

only four pieces of apparatus, so when something goes wrong it is a

challenge to get back. You have more to concentrate on the boys'

gymnastics. Ali did well, she came fourth. Lots of twists and turns in

:56:32.:56:35.

the story of this competition. think probably the Chinese gymnasts

:56:35.:56:40.

should be the most disappointed. They did the stuff they are not so

:56:40.:56:46.

good at and cave and beam. They've both got good routines. They could

:56:46.:56:52.

have had one and two had they not caved in on beam. But the top three

or all 16. What does that say for the future? We've got to see

:56:56.:57:00.

whether they can survive the storms. It is easy to burst on the scene at

whether Komova has got, as you said, the steel in her heart to fight

elsewhere. She will have done the giant pull at the end just for

:57:37.:57:42.

Hannah to come out with a clean, safe spot. Nine sth a massive

:57:42.:57:48.

achievement on what she scored last year. Will you now be involved in

her bars coaching? I wouldn't say that. Amanda is one of the best bar

:57:52.:57:57.

coaches in the country. She's got stuff she's working on in every

:57:57.:58:01.

piece, so coming into the Olympics she will make up her grades. There

is more sport for you on the Red Button throughout the night. The

first practise session of the Korean Grand Prix. Coverage starts

Come on, Daniel. Lovely height. Daniel Purves is brilliant in the

:58:33.:58:40.

air. Very well controlled. A really strong performance from

:58:40.:58:43.

Daniel Purves. You can catch highlights of Dan's competition on

:58:43.:58:51.

BBC Two at 1.00pm. Coverage starts on-line and on the Red Button at 10

:58:58.:59:03.

ranked fifth. Excellent. He is Mr Consistency. He believes he can do

:59:03.:59:08.

better. Will you be back for that will be. He's cool, calm and
