South Korea v Algeria Match of the Day

replay. Tonight 's group -- game comes from Group H, Algeria against

South Korea with Martin Fisher. These sides are not as prolific.

Lisa Lee Yong played in South Africa four years ago. A slight tactical

fantastic opportunity to put themselves in pole position above

Three central defenders today for Algeria, three players who are

comfortable in that role. The little backheel that Mesbah will

try to move along. Korea Republic are shaky at the moment, and an

early opportunity blazed over by Feghouli. He was the one who got the

goal in Algeria's only -- opening game, and a bright start here. He

needed no second invitation to get a shot away. It was always rising. But

no bad thing to have a crack at goal so early on.

That goal that he scored against Belgium on Tuesday was Algeria's

first World Cup goal since 1986. Maybe they have the scent of goals

in their nostrils. There will be nerves out on the pitch. Such a

vital game for both sets of players. Bentaleb is brought down. Another

free kick for Algeria. Good skills from the youngster, only

19 years of age, made his international debut in March,

Bentaleb. Goalkeeper trying to organise his defence. The Korea

Republic brought everybody back to defend this. Brahimi is over it.

for the penalty, one or two of the Algerians. In the previous games we

have had a penalty kicks. France against Honduras, and Australia

against the Netherlands. A clumsy challenge, and a good opportunity

for Brahimi, but that, to me looks a good shout, Kim Jong long with the

challenge. He was caught with the ball very

close with -- to him. It might have been Feghouli, looking

at that again. Medjani with the foul.

The Korea Republic yet to settle down. Five minutes on the clock.

Korea Republic with some Gazans of relief not having the penalty

against them. -- gasps of relief. Bougherra back to Mbolhi. Not the

greatest clearance I've ever seen. In a tussle trying to regain

possession. Showed too much of that to Brahimi.

The man from the Olympic team of two years ago, and there is the

defence today, but it looks like more a back four to me. Lee Yong is

why not? Leading 2-0, ten minutes from half-time, in command of the

situation and looking set to qualify with one game to go. They are

looking to deprive of what they expected to be their place in the

last 16, Russia. Strayed into an offside position. Mandi once it

back. Slimani makes his move in the box. They have settled for a

Korea Republic with four defenders and a goalkeeper in the six yard box

and Algeria have only got one, they have got to now -- they have got a

couple now. Cleared by Djabou. Fabulous work. And still going. He

has lost his footing. There was some interference from a Korean boot in

that movement. The Algerian form coming into the

World Cup was pretty good, winning three in a row including a success

against Romania. A good test for them. It is going to come down to

Slimani. A chance for 3-0 and it is. 3-0, Algeria! Djabou. Unbelievable

scenes in Porto Alegre. This was supposed to be a tight contest. But

Algeria have roared into a 3-0 lead and we have not yet reached

half-time. Again, bad defending by Korea Republic and again, good work

by Slimani. And the key to the goal, taking it early. And before the

goalkeeper had settled himself, it was passed him. -- it was passed

him. -- it was through him. Algeria taking a firm grip on the second

spot in Group H. What a masterstroke, a couple of the

players he has brought in from the start today have hit the back of the

net. Korea Republic looking shell-shocked. They might get an

opening themselves here. It has quickly been closed down. Algeria

something on the scoresheet before half-time but they are not going to

like scoring one. In their brief World Cup history,

the finest performance of Algeria was at their very first

involvement, defeating West Germany 2-1. This will sit alongside that.

Particularly if it paves the pathway to a historic involvement in the

Brahimi tried to make progress already. No way through on this

occasion. Korea Republic clearly need a goal as quickly as possible,

just to put a seed of doubt in the minds of those. Remember earlier

today, Belgian adding a late winner against Russia. A victory that means

that they will definitely be involved in the last 16. He has

found a bit of space here. The leash. Brahimi, battling through

successes were on home soil for years ago when I lost in the last 16

to Uruguay. They have given themselves a mountain to climb after

referee was well placed and did not see anything amiss, but it will be a

They have a chance to get through the last 16 the first time. What an

achievement that would be for African football. Korea Republic

Algeria very nearly caught out. That's the second occasion in the

second half that they have been caught out by quickly take on set

pieces by Korea Republic. And again, it's going to be Park Chu-young who

makes way early in the second half, and this time it is going to be

number 18, Kim Shin-wook, 6'5" tall, and maybe his height will be

that route that they take to try and clamber their way back into the

contest. A long way to go, but a good

interception by Feghouli. Brahimi. Another touch by Bougherra. -- into

charged down. Korea Republic were looking for one back before the hour

mark a nearly found to. At the moment, Algeria cannot keep

possession. They cannot get out of their own half.

from Bentaleb. In goes the cross. Bougherra gets his head to it first.

And the free kick is conceded. There is the effort that was

brilliantly cleared off the line. Mbolhi was caught off-guard. Korea

Republic has had enough chances in the second half already to be level

at 3-3. We have seen just about everything already at this World

Cup, so many comebacks, and this would be the comeback of all.

Koo Ja-cheol, strongly forward for Kim Shin-wook. Composure in the

Algerian defence. Feghouli. What a fabulous goal! Yacine Brahimi. And

the 3-goal advantage is restored. It was the first time Algeria had

threatened in the second half. Feghouli initially involved, then

Brahimi. And it is such a composed finish. Yacine Brahimi, his

first-ever international goal. Another of those players brought in

by the manager from the offset today. A player who was kept at U21

level for France, and now places international football for Algeria,

and Mike, were they happy to have him on board. Korea Republic have it

all to do again. Algeria, the first African nation to

score four goals at a World Cup finals.

The way this game is going, you don't feel that the scoring has

halted as yet. Korea Republic are going to make their second change,

and this time it will be Lee Yong homecoming on, the man who put them

in front against Russia on Tuesday. He is going to replace Lee

Chung-yong. One leave for another. -- one Lee for another.

The clearance by Bentaleb. Yong Suk-young the last man back for

Korea Republic. What a body blow for Korea Republic

to suffer there. Came out with such appetite in the

second half, and an early goal to give them life. The clearance of the

line. -- off the line. We could have been 3-3, instead it is 4-1. Brahimi

the fourth goal scorer for Algeria. Uncharacteristic error by Brahimi.

Son Heung-min to take it. Six in their looking to attack this,

including the giant Kim Shin-wook. Korea Republic could do with him on

the pitch. On this very day, 12 years ago, he scored the decisive

penalty in a quarterfinal shoot out victory over Spain. Is the shout

from his goalkeeper, and he leaves well alone. -- he hears of the shout

Algeria the chance to play the advantage. But he has not escaped

the yellow. error. And just looking around, you

would not guess that Korea Republic were losing because their fans are

joining in with the Algerians. Just enjoying the occasion. If not the

scoreline. Slimani has been a handful all afternoon and he has got

Algeria a free kick here. Ghilas getting his instructions from

his coach. Before entering the fray. Bougherra's free kick. Looking for

Djabou. Surrounded and foul. Jung Suk-young. Followed by Kim

Young-gwon. And this is a real chance. And it is another one back.

4-2 now, in Porto Alegre. And it is all about the work here,

working the back post. And it is not across the penalty area. -- taken

second goal for Korea Republic. First change, Algeria. Djabou, who

scored their third has not had much of a second-half. Tiring, maybe. And

he is replaced by Ghilas, who plays for Porto, mainly as a sub. As

second change. And it is another of their goal-scorers, Brahimi, making

way for Lacen. Another in their ranks, born in France. Brahimi is

running on empty at the moment. Algeria need fresh legs into the

middle of the park. Lacen was ever present at the World Cup finals four

Final change, Korea Republic. He has been booked, and he makes his way

for Ji Dong-won. Plenty of strikers on the pitch now

the Korea Republic. They still need couple-macro goals. -- they still

the ground checking to see how much time left to go. It has been a
