As far as the newspaper headlines are concerned, the Sun claims Jose

Mourinho wants to sign Sergio Aguero. The Mirror claims Manchester

City wants to sign Alex Sandro. The Telegraph claims Bayern Munich want

to sign Alexis Sanchez. Let's ignore all of them and we will just tell

you that the final day of the Championship season, so much

attention on the bottom. Three clubs could be relegated today. Nottingham

Forest, BlackBerry or city. 15 minutes gone in their game at

Brentford. Blackburn are 2-0 up so if all the results are to stay as

they are, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham are drawing at the

moment. Birmingham are taking on Bristol City. As things stand,

Nottingham Forest are going down to League 1. We will keep you across

all of those in the next 45 minutes. Let's start with a medication battle

in the Premier League. Swansea one point. Hull. You were at the Liberty

Stadium fall somewhat impressed you most about Swansea? I like the way

they dealt with the occasion. There were such intensity going into that

game. It was palpable from the fans. It was almost like the Crucible, at

times. Ibis particularly impressed with the backs. Britain sits in

there. He is a player who understands the game well. He can

handle experience. Leroy came on full survey had good energy.

Llorente at the top of the game. Lukaku, lazy on the day. They

weren't in the right mode at all. Lukaku not moving into the ball.

Llorente, that platform, he got the vital goal. A really good

performance. Let me come onto the Leon Brittan part. He appears to

have given this current Swansea squad, early on we were talking

about they could have lost some of their identity. Taylor went in the

January transfer window. The stories is his handle every DVD to the

players, the documentary, he's reported to be behind the players.

How important is he? Every clubs to have someone like that around.

They've got to have an identity of way back. They have had a few

results. He wasn't in the team in the early stages. It goes back to

the argument Antonio Conte had about teams kicking off at different

times. I was at Hull yesterday. The mood there was entirely different.

The lift Swansea would have had before kick-off, I think it was

almost worth a late start. That is just lack of the draw. It is swings

and roundabouts. -- lack of the draw. -- luck of the draw. But,

yesterday, it was a big factor in her Swansea took to the task. A

dreadful first 15 minutes if you are Nottingham Forest fan. Birmingham

winning. Nottingham Forest now two points adrift of Blackburn. Four

adrift of Nottingham Forest. I thought the big contrast was weird

Hull's Crystal Palace game. They are in big trouble. The basics at set

pieces, you saw her focused and concentrated Swansea were. In

contrast to all of that. They've had their bad spell and come through it.

May be just the right time. You were at home. Yesterday. If you were to

flip it the other way, and we will play first, we could really put the

pressure on Swansea. The tension got to the players yesterday. You could

feel it. You could detect it in the body language of the managers. When

Chelsea lost to Manchester United a few weeks ago, everybody thought

Antonio Conte wasn't himself. You could see that with Marco Silva

yesterday. A lot more demonstrative. He stood on the touchline isolated.

David Moyes, by contrast, was really relaxed. He was chatting to people.

It's a hard thing to describe to explain to people. When you're

relegated you are paralysed with fear force of the ball comes into

the box, you hope somebody else will take responsibility. You don't do

it, they don't do it. You have to almost step above it and say, right,

I can make it happen today. I can't accept disaster. It's not going to

happen. It's such a long gap. It consumes youthful spits how you

handle the pressure. Swansea got that right. The odd thing with Hull

is you talk about grabbing it by the scruff of the neck. Their previous

home game with their backs against the wall with Watford and they were

reduced to ten men... That's it. Everybody in the world. Hull

Woodwind comfortable you. Swansea have hunted them down yesterday.

They are in pole position. Now Crystal Palace play Hull. That game

is absolutely massive. What were you going to say about the Swansea

manager? I don't have the luxury of talking to him. You saw the pressure

lift off him. You see the pressure these guys are under. He was taking

on-board oxygen, looking around, couldn't believe it himself. It was

too good to be true. He puffed out at the end. He did get it right. In

a way the others didn't. Sam Allardyce was saying yesterday that

what Crystal Palace have now got to do is remember the absolute basics.

Where Martin Kelly was saying they didn't prepare long enough,... I'd

tell you what, before I've read at Martin Kelly's quotes, before we do

that, let's hear from Sam Allardyce what he thought of their 5-0 defeat.

The lads really didn't apply themselves correctly, making sure

they kept it tight. They felt they had to try and get forward and try

to get a goal and leave more space is. They did thoroughly in the end.

We can't complain about the score. The tactical thing he did yesterday

was he didn't actually have a recognised centre-half. The thinking

pre-match, what he said, Martin, city are quick and nimble and small

and don't have somebody like some votes -- Sam Vogts. Does that sound

sensible in theory? Yes but my put my football players have torn which

was a very long time ago. I want to be prepared. I want information. I

want certainty. I will give you that. I know the roles of people

around me so don't send me into the biggest game of my career half an

afternoon working on something we've never worked on before. I would have

to argue with Kelly's clearance. He does not deliver the ball well.

Kelly said afterwards, I don't think we've worked on the formation enough

to be honest. When you do practice things on the training pitch, you

create pictures for people and put them into situations they will come

into on match day, so he's in a centre position instead of a

fallback position. I see it both ways. Antonio Conte has done it

better than anybody else. Everybody wants to do it. Pep Guardiola is a

manager who would exploit you. If you don't know the system well

enough, he's rolling sleeves up and taking part, he goes wide with his

wide players, punish you and that's what they did yesterday. Sam talked

about individual mistakes and that's what they do when they tried to

excuse their own managerial performance. I would say this is a

pattern. Where Martin Kelly did not play well, at centre-back, he

thought winning the title with Leicester was the most surprising

thing that happened. I think his pace was the thinking there. He's 1

million miles away from being a centre-back. When a manager comes

out and says that, you've got to be together. You still lose, whoever

you blame, you get together and sort it out. The players are saying this,

and Sam should listen. We need to do more work on this. All the focus has

been on Crystal Palace because it was their result but city were

terrific. When they turn it on like that there aren't many teams who can

live with them, quite frankly. They were on their A-game yesterday. They

were bang on it yesterday. To give city their credit, they were back to

a formation that worked for them earlier on in the season. In

particular, with the two attackers. However you want to describe it. I

don't think he was as dynamic as last season. I don't think he

contributed like you did last season. The other interesting thing

for me, the choice of right back, you have all of them on the bench. I

think they could be signing a right back next season. That raised

eyebrows. I can't second-guess it. You can't underestimate his great

finish. Great to see him back again. Overcoming injuries because of the

terrible to see. He didn't know he was going to get injured next season

and that's laying down a marker. We talk about pragmatic managers and

his very artistic manager, Pep Guardiola. It's taken them a lot of

time, longer than he is imagined. He knows how tough it is in the Premier

League. Next year he will say this is what we need to do. The way he

celebrated son of the crowd, his whole motion with it, I think he was

a bit cold, scientific early on but he's at home now and has got his

place. And the forward line was so good. Young players up front, so

quick, so good together. When you look at the stories of Sergio Aguero

today, you wonder whether he will look in the middle of that three and

keep him there. There is maybe a door opening for other clubs. That's

an interesting decision. It is the Sun newspaper and the Sunday Times

who say United or Jose Mourinho want Sergio Aguero. Do you believe it? Do

you envisage any way that could happen? I believe they want him and

they don't think it could happen. Jose Mourinho was quite happy with

it at this that he wants him because he can't lose. Exposes the

situation. The Sunday Times article also said Joe Hart. It's almost like

he's mischievously going after them. Guy probably knows what his stats

are. They are not bad. I just feel he's been working. The strikers he

has had at Bayern Munich, he wants more from Sergio Aguero and is not

satisfied. Is on trial there. He's more of a Jose Mourinho striker. Are

you saying you have a doubt about Sergio Aguero? The manager

definitely once more from him. He's not happy with their return. He

wants someone who can punish teams more, a marksman in front of goal.

It's the big teams, is absolutely brilliant against them. There's no

difference between this record against top than the rest and Man

City want to win the league, the Champions League, that's invaluable.

It's not the only thing. Apart from Messi Andrew Nadeau, there cannot be

many with a better record. He has a high percentage and he does need the

chances. There was an article for the Daily Mail and I was astounded

that the number of chances he needs to score a goal... Like Zlatan

Ibrahimovic. This message says, when will Crystal Palace get a decent

defenders? It was crazy. One final thing is on the relegation battle,

Palace at home to Hull City and Swansea go to Sunderland. Would you

care to predict? Don't you raise your eyebrows at me! I cannot do

predictions, you have no idea. I would say in the greatest danger,

Hull, but I would not put it past them to go and win at Palace. The

Palace at home, Middlesbrough and Sunderland have won fewer games at

home and Palace had been beaten at home I3 macro and Sunderland and

Swansea. If they lose that game, I think they will go down. It is a

dangerous situation. We're talking about Tottenham, Hull at home to

Tottenham, that is second, that is boxed. The Palace home record... I

think Palace it will be fine. That game is huge. I was at the Burnley

and Palace gained recently at Selhurst Park and I could not

believe how Paul Palace were on the day, Burnley were magnificent and

they worked hard. It goes back to the expectation of the home game,

with teams around you in a relegation battle and three times

Swansea and Burnley and Sunderland have gone up. Swansea are the

underdogs, which suits them. We don't know! In the Championship,

Blackburn two, Brentford zero. Birmingham City are winning at

Bristol City by 1-0 and goalless between Nottingham Forest and

Ipswich. So that means Nottingham Forest are going down. Blackburn and

Birmingham would be safe. There is an early goal in the Scottish

Premiership. Partick Thistle against Rangers. Partick Thistle leading by

1-0. Fantastic news! Who's good at? Do one. He has good four goals now.

-- he has scored. He would think you would be such an expert? Nobody

knows that back home! This is worrying for Forest fans, which is

an understatement. Deeply worrying, the club could be taken over by new

ownership, to go down to League One is so difficult to get out of. What

a situation! Such a great club, Nottingham Forest, I was brought up

watching them play and how they managed to win two European cups.

Brian Clough, everything he did for that club. You go into the boardroom

and receive trophies, it is remarkable, to see the demise of a

club. The same argument for Blackburn and for Birmingham City,

you could have. All three of them, they are huge clubs and to go down

to the third tier, something has gone badly wrong everywhere. Back to

the Premier League. The Premier League's lunchtime

kick-off sees Liverpool, Steve Wilson's at Anfield

for Match of the Day 2. Thank you at Anfield, the Anfield

Road stand behind me which this week Liverpool have reaffirmed their

intention to develop, it would take capacity to over 60,000, but today

we are talking about Liverpool and Southampton with Jason McAteer.

Results have fallen for Liverpool last weekend, back in our hands

again, will they kick on and get in the top four? I do not think they

will let it slip today against Southampton, they came unstuck

against Southampton in the League Cup. They will get its done today,

the results last week but pressure on them going to Watford with great

performance, real resilience, they got in front and they held out which

we have seen Liverpool not to do this season. They have got the

opportunity in our hands. I think they will hold onto it and get over

the line. Playing first, Manchester United and Arsenal will play later,

that is a great incentive for Liverpool to get three points and I

think they can get it done. It is strange Liverpool have been wasteful

with points at Anfield. They put in strong performances away from home

but they have dropped points against teams you wouldn't expect them to

drop points to. Yes, you would talk about the Crystal Palace

performance, they got in front and it looks great because I do think

they came up here for a point and based -- and they made it difficult

to break them down. You got the free kick from Philippe Coutinho and you

felt the impetus was to score more but they got done with two bad

pieces of defending, 2-1. A bit of complacency slipped into their

performance that day and the nerves were jangling. And they lost the

game. The questions remain about the character and can they do it? I

think the performers away to Watford surprised critics and shut people

up. Given the opportunity to go on and get the result today, that would

secure a top four finish. Southampton have played Liverpool

three times this season and have not conceded a goal against Liverpool.

If Liverpool did not finish top four, Kloop is very popular and

charismatic, but if they miss out, how do we assess the season? I think

it would be a failure. We talk about the first half of the season being

fantastic and up yet's day when we beat Manchester City. And it was

fantastic and we got carried away winning the league. A realistic

approach after those disastrous ten games brought us back down to Earth

and really levelled out the season. A top four finish is on the cards

and we need to finish there, as progression for a club, you want to

be attracting different players. The ground, it is the redevelopment, it

is geared up for Champions League football and being one of those top

four. It is pivotal we finish in the top four and anything other than

that would be a disaster. It was a learning curve for Klopp, going out

of the FA Cup was a disaster and he will approach that differently next

season. We were unfortunate against Southampton that we missed out. It

would be a disaster to not get the top four finish. Liverpool against

Southampton in the sunshine today. 5 live's Ian Brown can

bring us the team news. If Liverpool win our last three

games, they will be in the Champions League next season for definite but

they need to sort out their stuttering home form against

Southampton today, who have won here in the League Cup and after

yesterday, they are officially safe from the drop. Liverpool are

unchanged from their win over Watford, so the dream is fit after

overcoming his dead leg. Adam Alana is on the bench. Southampton make

one change from the draw with Hull City. Ward-Prowse replacing Jason

Redmond. Thank you very much. Jonathan, you've interviewed

Emre Can this week. After a spectacular goal on Monday

night. He has been imported for Liverpool but I have felt

frustration at times from the crowd with him. He does divide opinion a

bit with some firmly in his camp. There is an element that think he

could do more. He said to me, I am only 23 and people don't realise

that. Because he has moved around in his career and he looks physically

mature, but he is still a young player. I was impressed with his

mentality and he has a contract situation he is not focused on. And

he was talking about the positivity that Liverpool will try and keep

even though they are under pressure to get the top four Place. He

sounded carefree and like Liverpool will take that into the game today

and forget that record against the smaller teams. It is like a Stephen

Gerrard moment when the player picks up the emotion and he plays with

inspiration, Watford making it difficult and a piece of brilliance,

scoring an unbelievable goal. He is growing into a man I did not know,

and did not know he was 23, he is finding them the right position, but

he is not going to be in the first 11 will stock is certainly a good

position that player and international player and he has come

forward when his club needs him. Position is key, he has played

full-back for Germany and at buy in Munich, Pep Guardiola thought he was

in a different position. He appreciates Klopp has put him in an

attacking midfield position and that is where he is best. You do not

in a bit of help from the manager. As Steve Wilson said, Liverpool have

problems with Selt Southampton this season and I was at the League Cup

semifinal and Southampton were very impressive. Yes, but this is a

different time of the season and Southampton will have to not have

that approach Martin but Everton had at Swansea yesterday,, not on

holidays yet. This is a bit different. We were talking about

pressure and expectation getting to players and I do not think that will

affect Liverpool today. That club and squad, I do not think they have

that mentality in this sort of game. I think they will win this album --

this afternoon. They need to be careful with Manolo Gabbiadini at

the top of this team. Talking about creating chances for that player to

score and they will turn up today. He came on with a burst and he has

not scored since. The two look at central defenders look suspect and

Gabbiadini's movement on the ball is as good as anybody. There was a

strange movement at the end of which that Watford game at it and the ball

was being crossed on the counterattack into Matip which was

crazy. Klopp is brilliant but it does have its drawbacks and that is

what we are talking about. But do you agree that that pressure will

not be a problem? I think they will play the same, for better or worse.

There is no pressure on them with 69 points, they will make it into the

Champions League and it is a case of getting the job done. You were

talking about the age of Emre Can at 23, George Honeyman is 22 and it is

only his second Premier League start. For the first half of the

game, he was the best player on the field and David Morris said he

thinks players get put into early. The reason he played so well was, he

said, because he has been able to ritual and he has grown and this is

the right time. Everyone is saying it Young Player of the Year, Michael

Keane, he is 24, what is a younger age for a player now? It depends on

the individual. A 22-year-old, but we do not think of Emre Can as

young. We do not need to rush young players. But last night, we were

praising beat anniversary of Michael Owen bursting onto the scene as a

17-year-old. And on the subtitles, it said, I am a light loan. But on

the subtitles watching Match of the Day! Let's go to the Emirates.

At 4 o'clock, on 5 Live, it's commentary on Arsenal

Is this one of the most low-key Arsenal and Manchester United games

you can remember in a long time? Yes, it certainly is, you go back to

1978 and 1979 when both teams finished outside the top four and it

has been a long while since they have had their guts and

determination of in Martin Keown Arsenal defender against Manchester

United and it is a strange affair. Jose Mourinho will rest players for

this. A lot has been made of the fact he will play in reserve team.

He will bring Genk de Gea, Smalling, Marshall, Rooney. But I do think

there will be youngsters on the bench like 35 macro, but still a

strong but United sides today. The intensity of the old clashes to win

a week, they are long gone. And on the evidence of this season, it will

be a while before they reappear. Because of their involvement in the

Europa league, is it more of a must win for United Guest, he has made it

clear that is his priority, Mourinho, winning back the Europa

League and getting into the Champions League through that route.

He might set a model for that. It is make or break for Arsenal and they

need to give this to slip up. On the evidence of 2017, they do not

deserve to be in the Champions League. This group of players have

gone as far as they can under Arsene Wenger is said he had probably got

it wrong when he announced earlier this calendar year he would make an

announcement in March, April, we have made that and still no

announcement has been made and that lack of clarity has affected Arsenal

and I think he would have players back today. Holdings could come into

the right side of the centre-back and I would be surprised if Danny

Welbeck did not come back and there is speculation about Shkodran

Mustafi, he might be on the bench. This is vital for Arsenal, they need

that clarity and they need to know where Sanchez will be. They do not

think he will be here, it would not be surprised if he went to Bayern

Munich and Ithaca Olivier Giroud moves on and if the two does not get

any contract. This stadium needs those old Manchester United and

Arsenal title winning at the matches back.

Thank you, Jonathan. Birmingham and Nottingham Forest and Blackburn are

all winning and that means that Blackburn would be relegated which

come on their first-half performance would be very harsh, but even though

they are winning at Brentford, because Forest in Birmingham are

winning, they are back in the bottom three. Jonathan North Croft, if he

does play a weakened side here, Jose Mourinho, whilst taking Jonathan's

point there's a lot of international talent he can bring in, United

aren't in the final yet, is it little dangerous? Playing a weakened

side? Putting all your eggs in one basket. I think it's common sense

that hard added maybe, when you look at United's position, I think it

said Jose Mourinho up for one of his classic performances he has wheeled

out against Arsenal quite a lot. I think it will be a fairly grim

Manchester United today. Is made his excuse. He's got youngsters and half

the team and he will try to nick a 1-0. Are you excited about this

game? Not quite as we were. It would have been first and second. I'm

interested to know what side Manchester United play. Marcus

Rashford has been outstanding. We know Ibrahimovic is injured. I would

like to see Danny Welbeck coming in. I'm interested in Ozil and will you

work hard today? I know he's talked about his body language, but he's

not running, not covering distance, he does not look like he's really

there. I think he's demonstrating this is what your going to get from

me if you're going to keep me so you may as well get rid of me. If you

had a family with two children who overindulged, it's like that with

Ozil and Sanchez and they have acted like children and it's become

embarrassing. I don't think you can put two players above all else, is

much as they are great talents. It affects the rest of the group and

they would like to see a reaction from the other players. I think they

have been too nice, too accommodating, and today that has to

change because there's an outside chance in the Champions League. I

don't think it will happen. There was an FA Cup in the distance, but

they have got to turn it around and while Ozil is there, he needs to

perform until the end of the season because, at the moment, I don't

believe he's giving everything to the team. A weakened team, lack of

intensity. Daniel Taylor in the Observer newspaper says this morning

Jose Mourinho isn't really seeing Arsene Wenger as a threat any more.

He has not mellowed his relationship with him but there are bigger

battles to pick with other managers. I think that's absolutely spot-on

although I think we make far too much because we enjoy it, of these

managerial feuds. Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are OK now, there's

nothing going on there particularly. That of a problem that goes back a

long time but it's mellowed because Arsene Wenger isn't a threat. On

team selection, United will be as strong as you like today. I don't

think that will be an issue. These guys are incredible winners of

trophies. It is right the relationship is improving. If

Richard Bevan has not been on the both of them to change their

behaviour, they set an example to all the managers about how to

behave. They are behaved very well to do it. It's difficult, emotional,

but you have to show class. I think it started with Jose Mourinho having

a pop eyed Arsene Wenger for many years. I think there's one manager

that Jose Mourinho has a pop at this year and that's Antonio Conte. It's

the only time he's done it. It tells you he sees as a threat at the

moment. He's won the League Cup, Manchester United not interested in

it, but they are operating above that level most of the time, and if

they win the Europa League as well and the Champions League, it has to

be an unqualified success of a season like you wouldn't have

believed at the start of the campaign in his first year. They

wouldn't be in the top ten in terms of entertainment, but Manager of the

Year, Antonio Conte will get it. I think we all know he's doing a good

job. I don't think it is stated in a. He's not an also-ran but his

understanding how other managers feel when they don't win games. He

maybe understands Arsene Wenger more. If he stopped going on about

two games a week, something has gone wrong. You should be playing twice a

week. If you stop for that, he would get more praise for what is doing.

The whole club, as all of the top clubs, are geared up, surely, to

playing twice a week and being in finals and European competitions.

It's a bit tiring now, isn't it? He has done well but it reminds me of

Liverpool 's plastic season. They are geared to challenge for the

title and the Champions League and it's good what he has done but this

is what Manchester United's real agenda is. It's a stepping stone to

other trophies in the future. They're things he wants to win. It's

not his fault he is in the Europa League. He's had a lot of injuries,

also. One after another. Serious injuries, as well. Why'd you think

United should sign Jermain Defoe? We were talking about Sergio Aguero and

finishing chances and the story of United's season in the Premier

League has been ten goals at home, failing to put away small teams, and

I'm not saying Jermain Defoe would be a starting player, but if you

think about Ferguson using him, and Henrik Larsson, an experienced

player, it's a job United need to do against small teams. I can't think

of anyone better to have somebody to play 15 games a season than Jermain

Defoe. The half-time whistle has gone in the Championship games. 12

o'clock kick-offs. Three side threatened with relegation at the

start of the day. They are all winning for the Birmingham City,

Nottingham Forest and lack burn took a 2-0 early lead at Brentford --

Blackburn. As things stand, they are being relegated and Nottingham

Forest and Birmingham would be safe. Newcastle are winning as well, by

the way. They are 1-0 against Barnsley and that would mean, as

things stand, Newcastle would be the Championship champions. Lets just

touch on the Friday night games. Spurs losing at West Ham which means

Chelsea, if they win their next two games tomorrow night and on Friday

night, at West Bromwich, they will be the champions. Is the best way to

look at this that Spurs have done well to make it last until now?

They've won nine games on the bounce. They'd been quite brilliant

but just not enough. They are improving, getting better, but it's

one of those we talked earlier about the bottom end of the table need him

to make sure nothing else matters in your life but being a champion.

That's how it has to be. It takes me back to these battles with

Manchester United. It's almost like an imaginary tug-of-war and no

Chelsea have that rope, they can feel it coming their way and it will

be an easy finish for them but, while you're in there, you think

it's never going to end and you have got to give it everything you can.

It's suddenly gone for Tottenham but they got to hang onto the players

that got them where they are. I think they need a winner in the camp

and need to go and buy somebody, big-name, someone who can say, we

can keep doing it, trust me, one more game, Chelsea will break next

time. They need that type of player, someone they can turn to in the

group who's been a serial winner of trophies. There's no real winners in

there who's got experience and I think that lets them down at vital

times. I think we can discount as little notion they may have bottled

it. That's nonsense. They are better than last season. The two big

signings in the summer didn't work. But they are still better than they

were. My worry for Tottenham is was this their best shot at it because

Wembley next season, you never know, it might work for them. They may

have overcome their demons but I'm not sure. I think it could be a

drop-off. They don't like the bigger picture. London stadiums seem to

be... Ericsson surprised me the most. He was very wasteful and

heeded this last season. They were brilliant until now. You've got to

hang in there for some even when things are going badly. They could

have won that game against West Ham but it's fallen away. There was an

outside chance, but they shouldn't be down on what they have done for

that they need to do something better next season. Rather than do

the age old who can they keep hold of this summer and who might they
