Medal races in the finals of the BMX. Lutalo Muhammad is hoping to

emulate Jade Jones in her gold-medal triumph, he won bronze four years

ago and his quarterfinalist soon and we will bring it to you. If anyone

can stop America's dream team, it might be Spain, who won silver at

the last two Olympic Games. They meet in this evening's semifinal.

Sweden's women have already won two penalty shoot out at the games and

now they take on Germany into night's final, also coming up. -- in

the night's final. And we spoke to her mother the other night, Samantha

Murray won a medal four years ago in the modern pentathlon but can she do

it again in Rio? Right, we are going to go straight to the BMX medal

matches. We promised you would get there straightaway. The women's at

first, followed by the men's and they are ready to go so let's get

straight across to the commentators. COMMENTATOR: Welcome back the BMX

arena at Deodoro as the riders come up onto the stage and prepare for

this Olympic final. They have two walk up the stairs, they don't catch

a lift. They have the stairs, so many Colombians, cheering on the

world champion and the Olympic champion, Mariana Pajon, she is on

the inside line there's years, and Laura Smulders alongside her from

the Netherlands. What a field and what a race. Just to remind viewers

that although we have our best three in the quarterfinals and semifinals,

when it gets to the final, this is it it is one and done. Exactly, one

straight right to decide the Olympic champion. The semifinals will have

given the seedings and the choice of Lane for the start. You want to be

on the inside lane, and Mariana Pajon has that honour, of being in

lane one and having the best chance of hitting the first corner first.

Excitement building here, they are on the outside line from Elke

Vanhoof from Belgium, very consistent, top ten finish in all

three Supercross races held so far in this calendar year.

Next to her, from France, Manon Valentino, the World Championship

bronze medallist three years ago. Last year's world champion next to

her from Venezuela, Stefany Hernandez. If she wins, she will

become the first Venezuelan woman to ever win an Olympic Gold Medal. It's

going to be tough from lane six. Yaroslava Bondarenko from Russia, 19

years of age, fifth in the World Championship this year.

From the United States, one of two American riders, Alise Post. World

silver medallist two years ago. Brooke Crain, fourth in the World

Championship last year from California, eighth in the Olympic

final in London. Laura Smulders on the Netherlands, the Olympic bronze

medallist from London. A big draw for a big star, the world

champion and defending Olympic champion, Mariana Pajon of Colombia.

committee, it seems as though the whole crowd is Colombian. Can she

deal with the pressure? -- Mariana Pajon, here. As we say, they just

get one shot at the gold, now. Riders ready. Watch the gate.

Bursting out of the gate, Mariana Pajon nearest the camera, good start

by Alise Post from the US, but Mariana Pajon has the inside track.

She jumps the triples, through the first time, Manon Valentino is down

at the first turn, Mariana Pajon leads. The crowd are beside

themselves with excitement. Being chased all the way by the American,

Alise Post in second place. Hernandez of Venezuelan Redbird.

Through the rhythm section they go with one more turn to go. Here they

come into the finishing straight, she's going to do it for Columbia!

Mariana Pajon successfully defends her world title, she beat Alise Post

of the USA to the line and the Venezuelan Stefany Hernandez take

the bronze! What a moment, what a rider! The crowd have got what they

came to see, a Colombian gold medal. That was fantastic from Mariana

Pajon. Everybody in the ground with the yellow, blue and red flags

waving. This is what they wanted to see. Fantastic performance and great

to see the American rider Alise Post is so happy with her silver medal

and Hernandez in third. All you can hope for, second place for Alise

Post and in the circumstances, the way that Mariana Pajon is riding on

everyone else was racing for second place. We saw Jamie staff, the

former track cyclist for Great Britain, now the director of BMX,

giving her a huge hug, lifting her off the ground, they are delighted

to win a silver medal for America. Hernandez, pondering what might have

been. She ends up with a bronze but there was only one winner and the

most you can hope for in the Olympic Games is that the best person ends

up with the gold medal around their neck and that is certainly going to

be the case here because in every race over the day, the three in the

semifinal and that one in the final, Mariana Pajon has delivered. She

deals with all the pressure. She a massive star in Colombia. She dealt

with the pressure of racing on her home track in the World

Championships in May, the track that bears her name, no pressure there!

You know all about that! But she delivered under that kind of

pressure and spotlight and she has done it again in the Olympic Games,

the first woman to win two macro gold medals in the BMX. Fantastic.

She has been consistent. She hasn't just pulled it out of the bag in the

final. Every step of the way, she's looked impressive. Never looked like

she was in trouble at any stage and to deliver

when all that expectation and all of that support from the home crowd,

from the Colombian crowd, it feels like a home crowd! That was

fantastic. Just coming into finish, all this time later, Manon Valentino

France rolls over the line, battered from the crash. But the celebrations

have already started back in Colombia and in the stands over on

the far side and alongside our commentary position here. Mariana

Pajon is directly below us. Here is the race once again. Great start for

Mariana Pajon on the inside but Alise Post really challenged. It was

only the fact she was on the outside that she did not take control. But

just a very assured performance down the first straight, no mistakes. We

quickly saw Valentino going based burst onto the deck. Look at the

second rider from the left in blue. -- face first onto the deck. Front

end first, over rotated and that is a nasty way to fall. The last

corner. Oh, Laura Smulders on the deck. Just trying to turn too far

and the front wheel cannot take the grip. She washes out and hit the

deck very hard. As we said before, this is a nasty surface to fall on.

She is desperately trying to take a tighter line to challenge Hernandez

for the bronze medal. She had to throw everything at it and

unfortunately, it did not fail. What a final and what a winner. A very

worthy claimant of the gold medal. Let's go back to Jill Douglas at

track-side. What a champion, Mariana Pajon and so popular among the

Colombian fans. They came to see her win a second gold medal and she has

delivered. I'm speechless, unbelievable, she is, even, among

the athletes, she is regarded as the best in the world for the women. She

is absolutely unbelievable, technical ability that you see the

men do it, it is unbelievable, and these guys are going crazy. I can't

even speak. I wish I was out there! It must be torturous for you to be

standing here watching. I know you wanted to be involved and be on the

bike but why is she so good? Why can she be so consistent? I remember her

at 12 or 13, and her technical ability then was unparalleled.

Obviously, she has maturing to a young woman. She has got the

strength to deliver great starts and honestly, she is on her day,

unbeatable. We saw that today, to back up the Olympic title to now

draw level with the men's record-holder is unbelievable. Back

to you later. Back to Dan. And good to see Lee in good shape. We will be

back for the men's race in a moment but we will switch our attention to

the taekwondo now because Lutalo Muhammad is representing Great

Britain, had a bronze four years ago in London at is involved in the

quarterfinal, taking on Steven Lopez, coming out right now, this is

a bit of pedigree this event, representing team USA, a gold

medallist in 2000 and 2004, and a bronze medallist in Beijing in 2008.

But look how confident and house move, he looks like he's enjoying it

but I wonder what he is feeling behind the smile? The talk through

the quarterfinal, let's go to Neil Adams and John.

COMMENTATOR: Lopez, you can audibly hear here and saying he came here to

win, Stephen Jennings, much more calm and cool. It was a very calm

and cool performance, 14-0 win in the first round. That was for Lutalo

Muhammad. Both men will know each other well. Final prayers and

preparation and this one is a potential classic. Referee making

sure they have got their guards in place. One centimetre is the height

difference, both men six foot three but he will stand tallest at the

end? Lopez in blue, Lutalo Muhammad, the big man in red, trying to flick

forward, a brisket, good counter, turning kick from Lopez. This one

already an start. And of course, the age difference, 12 years the senior,

the 37-year-old Lopez. A fifth Olympic Games, that's

remarkable, it really is, and he didn't do well in London so he will

want to put it right here. And a fifth Olympic Games in a combat

sport as well. It's not just coming to an Olympic Games, it's the four

years you have to prepare for it. It was a long and arduous cycle for

Lopez, usually so dominant but coming back through those injuries

that you mentioned it has taken him time to find his feet, almost finds

a foot into the body protector. Muhammad himself doing well to come

back from an injury and establishes form. A little bit of judo there. A

tiny bit, it did look like that. It's the first Kyong-go to Muhammad,

controversially. You are the best in the world is the advice there from

the coach in Spanish. They've decided to coach in Spanish against

an English speaking opponent. It's interesting because the coach said,

you are here to win, didn't he? Obviously he wants that to beat, if

it is last Olympic Games, is he going to try for 41? You never know!

41 wouldn't be a reach, just 41 seconds left, as Muhammad goes down

again. That Kyong-go, how important could it be? You looks calm, he

hasn't got out of first gear yet. He's taking his time, a very good

athlete, great presence. When he lets legs go, he causes lots of

problems for all its opponents. At the moment it's the American who

takes the Kyong-go therefore pulling. A tight match, this? It is

tight, isn't it? It all depends on range and we have talked about that

before, and how quickly. A reverse turning kick, that would have been a

four point shot, excellent, that, Lutalo Mohammed away to the threat,

cover that nicely. There's a front leg of his own and it schools

perfectly. It's a tale of two head kicks and it's a tale that is better

for Lutalo Mohammed. Ten seconds left here. Almost took a reverse

turning kick and there's a Kyong-go. That's going to be a 3-point gap.

From being three down, there is now three points up, Lutalo Muhammad,

excellent recovery guide, it shows you how quickly things change. It

does, he just found the range and that's what he needed to make

contact with the head. A little bit of more than hope than

expectation there, but that to me initially looked like a push rather

than a straight shot but a straight shot here well blocked, look at the

cover there, so important to have your wits about you. I was going to

ask actually about the blocking, it happens so quickly but you could see

the hands coming up just to stop that making contacts. The converse,

the other hand is just missing. Millimetres will decide this one. On

the scoreboard it's looking good for Lutalo Muhammad. He tries to get the

crowd up, this is his style. Yes, he's loving it, isn't he,

absolutely, he's loving the whole occasion, the whole of the Olympic

movement. He loves it. Plenty of movement from Muhammad, but the

scoreboard tells the story, a 3-point gap. A counter from the Brit

in red, well blocked by Lopez. An aggressive start here, going for the

chop kick. Straight off the buzzer there. Lopez not wasting any time.

The American fans trying to give birth charge some confidence here --

trying to give their charge some confidence. Lutalo looking confident

here. Its change of pace that Lopez hasn't got now, he's probably lost a

bit of his speed and been beaten to the punch, I was going to say, but I

mean that metaphorically of course. Muhammad doing a good job.

Absolutely correct, as you say. The tempo just slowing down a little

bit, which might suit the American but Muhammad very patient, that's

his style. One minute left in the second tier and it's as we were on

the scoreboard. A good threat there from Lutalo Muhammad, tries to go

high. That's the second time, isn't it? This time the referee from our

perspective, gets it right. It was a bit of a hip toss on the way round

so the Kyong-go going against Lopez. Tries with a chop kick, well covered

from Lutalo Muhammad. A punch from the American. As we have talked

about it is important not to go on the defensive straightaway. No, you

can't. Actually, friends much better, just to keep it going

actually, if that is what has been scoring for you -- offence. We saw

them lose crucial matches yesterday in the last round by backing off,

and that was almost to the head. I think we're going to have a bit of

a technical issue here. Strange noise emitting from the scoreboard.

18 seconds left in a second, a 3-point gap, let's wait and see.

This is not the first time there have been technological delays here.

In the middle of a fight, that's not what you need. What could that be?

Some technical problem here as we look at the timekeepers, they've got

it sorted a game. Not good enough though, not at the Olympic Games. It

has to be rectified, has to be improved. Ten seconds left in the

second. A 3-point gap maintained by Lutalo Muhammad, despite the delay a

brilliant block again from Muhammad and his concentration has been

absolutely resolute here. Covers again. Almost takes a back kick but

great credit, Lutalo Muhammad taking his time and maintaining that lead.

I love the way that he readjusts his distance all the time. It's all

about balance and distance, isn't it? He's just using his hands as

well as great defence. Well it was a tale of attack in the

first round, but the defence has helped him to maintain that at the

moment, the concentration as well from the British fighter in red.

It's been absolutely perfect. He's going to have to stay on his game,

double Olympic champion, five-time world champion, Steven Lopez a real

threat even still. Stephen Jennings with great coaching

advice there, aware that the clinch will lead to the chop kick. The

men's minus 80 kilograms to quarterfinal, this is their third

round, the British fighter as you can see, a handy little lead, a

Kyong-go hanging against the American, who changes stance. The

American Lopez, so experienced, just trying to fake and intimidate. He

will have to go some as Lutalo Muhammad very cool as we have seen,

great concentration. You have said so many times that just trying to

draw them in, with the changing of stands all the time, trying to get

them in the right situation, the right positions in order to get a

kick in there to score -- stance. It's like fishing, trying to draw

your opponent in. You can see the distance between the two, Lutalo

Muhammad trying to get front leg to intimidate. He will have to get a

run on here, the American, Steven Lopez in blue. Great defence there

from Muhammad. Just signs of slight fatigue from the bridge, not much

snap in that shot. Better with that one. He has gone on the defence now,

he is letting Lopez come forward and they are trying to pick him off.

This one for a spot in the Olympic Games semifinal. An excellent little

push kick, just jamming it under the garb that of the American, with 40

seconds left out. It's a four point gain. I good kick from Lutalo

Muhammad, that's the athleticism and that puts him into a fantastic

position with 30 seconds left in the third. The chop kick goes high and

comes down, makes contact with the head, either the guard or the face

and gets big points. A comfortable lead. Big points and a big

opportunity but sneaking one in under the guard there, Steven Lopez,

it's a 9-2 deficit at the moment. Double Olympic champion, five times

world champion, can he do something here? Or will it be Lutalo Muhammad,

the Great Britain fighter? He has been composed, he has been

organised, his confidence is up, and he has the number of the American

movement there, slides around the side, avoids the back kick off

Lopez, and it's been all Lutalo Muhammad all the way through. Can he

maintained his concentration? Five seconds left in the third. A perfect

Lutalo Muhammad takes the salute of the crowd, richly deserved, what a

game plan and executioner. Yes, it was a game plan, wasn't it? You knew

exactly what he had to do and he was waiting. Lopez, you have got to say,

was a tall order. You look at when he won World Championships, Olympic

Games, it was 37 years of age, did very, very well but it wasn't good

enough against Muhammad. It was indeed a perfect performance for

Lutalo Muhammad macro, there was the chop kick you mentioned, that

3-point ceiling the deal. It was a superb effort from the British

fighter in red. A chance to go one step further.

Really impressive performance from Lutalo Muhamed and as we are hearing

from our commentary team, stay panel -- Steven Lopez, real pedigree in

the taekwondo, twice gold-medallist, a bronze-medallist eight years ago.

But Lutalo Muhammad, we saw him stroll into the arena with that big

smile on his face and look at him, he's confident, he goes into the

semifinal, which we will show you on BBC Four at about 9:15pm tonight, so

if you would like to see if he can make it into the gold medal match,

which would be one better staged than he did in London four years ago

when he won the bronze medal, and there was all that talk four years

ago about him being selected ahead of Aaron Cook, Cook went to

represent the Isle of Wight and then switched to representing Moldova,

well, it didn't end well for Cook in Rio, he is out, he lost his first

bout. He will not have his dream of fighting Lutalo Muhammad at some

stage in this competition. This is the reader where Jade Jones did

things, did the business once again last night to win gold, just as she

did four years ago -- this is the arena. We are going to wait to see

if we can hear from Lutalo Muhammad, or if we need to go back to BMX. He

looks to be buzzing, really enjoying himself at taekwondo. A reminder

Double Olympic champion. I don't believe it, I just heard that, it's

amazing, I really wanted this one also. I prepared so hard, I worked

really hard and I'm here, it's unbelievable. It's like I already

did in my mind so many times. I wanted to do it in reality. I am

stuck. You looked unbeatable out there today but I'm sure a lot of

hard work has gone into delivering a performance like this? 100%, I was

working really hard. I've been injured almost all year. The last

three months, like 100, so I was already for this one, I was ready,

working really hard and I really wanted this one. Celebrate, thank

you thank you very much. A delighted Mariana Pajon begin to

Jill Douglas. She won that so let's find out who is going to win the

men's version. Let's rejoin Simon Brotherton and Sir Chris Hoy.

COMMENTATOR: Away they go in the Olympic final and leading on the

inside, Sam Willoughby, good start made by Connor Fields, roundabouts

corner and Willoughby has lost his way found himself at the back of the

field. It is a one-two for the USA at the moment. Nicholas Long leads

the way and Connor Fields is in second place. USA one and two, Niek

Kimmann challenging for the bronze medal and Willoughby coming

Backstrom on the inside, trying to snatch a medal, towards the line, it

is going to go to the USA! And Connor Fields is the Olympic

champion! Next, Jelle van Gorkom and Nicholas Long grabs the bronze for

the Americans. They are victorious and Connor Fields, who went into the

Olympic final four years ago as the favourite but ended up in seventh

place, delivered in the biggest race of his life. Wow, fantastic first

straight from Connor Fields! Both Americans right up there. Nick Long

looks as though, as he is great... Finishing in third place at the

moment perhaps, we're not sure but the Americans are going absolutely

wild down there. There is Nick Long, celebrating his ride. They are

saying it is equal third between him and Ramirez at the moment, both

given the exact same time. That is the winner, the Olympic champion. A

few years ago, when he was younger, Connor Fields wrote on his parents'

garage wall, "One day I will be national and world champion", and he

added, "I will be Olympic champion". His parents left it and it is still

on the wall of their garaged. Excellent, look at the faces, the

elation, amazing for USA, a gold, a bronze and silver from the women's

race, clean sweep, fantastic. Carlos Ramirez of Columbia, there. He has

been given equal third place at the moment with Nick Long. Unless they

separate them and it does not look as if they will, there will be two

bronze medal handed out. They cannot separate them, 35.5 06. Amazing, do

the same thousandth of a second. There's Jamie staff on the right,

coming into your screen. The motion, the hard work, all of the crashes,

and there is Jamie, he's been Olympic champion, he knows what it

feels like. All the effort and all the pain, actually, not just the

effort by the physical pain of getting bashed up as BMX riders

often do. Crashing is part of the game and Connor Fields, he was so

disappointed in London four years ago, he sailed through the

quarterfinals and semifinals, won both, everyone thought he had a

great chance of becoming Olympic champion but it all went wrong in

the final and he ended up in seventh place but for years on, that is a

big smile. For Connor Fields, he is racing with a severely damaged

wrist. He's got a wrist support and I was chatting to him yesterday and

he said technically still broken and he's going to have an operation

after the Bicske try to fix it. What about the Australians? They looked

so good but Sam Willoughby ended sixth and Anthony Dean did not

finish. Willoughby not used to where he is -- not where he's used to

being, in control of the fund. The Americans in control at the front,

Nick Long at this stage. The first time we have seen the Americans at

the front. Yes, and what you do, you can control the race and if you get

stuck in a pack, anything can happen at any stage. I don't just be in the

Olympic final but any of the races. That seems to be the thing to to

write -- to try to get through to the final with minimal drama and

then unleash the one performance that really counts and that is what

Connor Fields did. Knew was not really under any pressure as he

approached the line. It was so close for bronze. It looks as though... It

looks as though the Colombian has got that. It looks to me as though

the Colombian has got be medal ahead of the American. Yes, it looked as

though they would awarded joint bronze medal but clearly from that

photo finish, there is the width of a tie between the two of them. We

will wait to see the judges decision on that but it looks as though

Carlos Ramirez got his front tyre just in front and take the bronze.

The crowd like that, gold in the women's race and bronze in the men's

race for Columbia. Many congratulations, I know you

have been dreaming about this day for a very long time but now you are

the Olympic champion, tell me how it feels. Can you say that one more

time? You are the Olympic champion. I can't believe it, to be honest, I

came across the finish line in the last five minutes I've been purely

in shock. It feels so good. I can't wait to get back to my support

system back home, my family and friends. Celebrate with them. That

was a champion's performance. You looked in such great form all week.

Thanks, you know, I knew what this race

was all about, getting into the final and making it happen. Once I

got into the final, it was time to throw the dice on the table and go

for it. Congratulations, well done. That was an exhausted gold

medallist. Fantastic crowd at the BMX, particularly today but

throughout the event. Jill Douglas is still down there with a man we

know would have loved to have been on the podium for this Olympic final

but sadly got injured yesterday but is alongside us this afternoon with

Sir Chris Hoy as well. What a day. Indeed, Dan, it has been an

emotional day, the Colombian fans are still chancing across on the

other side and of course the Americans are celebrating Connor

Fields' tremendous performance. As you said, disappointment for Liam

Phillips not to be involved but wonderful to see the reaction from

all the riders coming through, coming up and asking Lee how he was.

Mariana Pajon won her Olympic race, the gold medal and the best thing

she said to Liam Watts, "How are you?" Gives UNIDO of what she's like

as an individual. I've calmed down a bit now. She is such a deserving

winner. She's been so good in the World Cup series and the World

Championships, and to win in front of pretty much a Colombian crowd, it

doesn't get any better. It's been a great day for BMX. And Connor

Fields, tremendous performance from him, he's part of the setup that is

run by Jamie Staff, your old team-mate from the team sprint.

Jamie was one of the Busby but to congratulate him, he knows what it

feels like to win Olympic gold but he was a worthy winner. Sam

Willoughby was the favourite going into the final, had been consistent

all series but it's all about that one ride, and Connor Fields produced

a fantastic start and was in contention and then passed him on

the third straight. You see what it meant to him Ajirotutu swore when he

was a kid that he would be Olympic champion one day and his parents

never painted over it so I wonder if they will now? You never know. I

doubt it very much and his dad is British? Yes, there was some talk

prior to London for him to come and ride for Team GB. My conversations

with him, basically, he did not feel like he could win a race like this

and then come and be interviewed and talk with an American accent.

Obviously, today has been a great day for him, his first race back

from injury after his wrist injury. He has not raced at all this season

so it makes it even more remarkable to come and do a sport like this

which is so tactical, so much going on, to be able to step up and

deliver like that is pretty impressive. What a time to bring

your best game. That's what it's all about, like all sports, it's about

dealing with pressure, focusing, forgetting anything that has come in

the lead up to it. He's had highs and lows and injuries, as Liam says

and all of these guys have got injuries. They are bolted together

to get to the start line. It is all credit to them that they keep

bouncing back and the training that goes through it. These athletes are

track sprinters at the velodrome with extra skill and nerve and all

of these added quality to make them into world-class BMX riders, they

are producing the same times as the track sprinters and sometimes they

don't get the credit due. BMX is a serious sport, as we have seen,

great spectacle and this was a great advert for the sport. You can see

what it means to everyone here, what a fantastic event it has been. It

has indeed, Liam, it's not ended the way you would have hoped but as we

have seen with Connor Fields, he was disappointed in London and he came

back four years later to win a gold medal. So the question is, I know

you are going to have a bit of a break but are you going to come to

Tokyo? Right now, I would love to because I know that if I had raced

here today and been successful, I probably would have said that it was

my Olympic time done but the fact it hasn't happened, you know, I've got

such a strong desire to be Olympic champion. Yeah, it won't be long

before I'm back training, I'm sure! It is something I have yet to

achieve. Training with somebody like this for so long, you see what can

be achieved with hard work and dedication. I would be a fool to

of what has happened today, Joe Joyce has made it through to the

gold medal match, that has been on BBC One in the last half an hour or

so, in the boxing. Also, a gold medal for Nick Skelton in individual

show-jumping, amazing story for him, in 2000, he retired with a broken

neck, in 2011, he had a hip replacement and in 2016, he has won

Olympic gold, a remarkable story forward next -- Nick Skelton and yet

another gold for Team GB. Will Lutalo Muhammad add another medal?

He's certainly in the bronze medal match and he's going to try to get

into the gold medal match at 9:15pm in the UK. After his quarterfinal

win over Steven Lopez of America, he managed to grab a very brief chat

with Nick Pope. Enjoying it? Loving it, loving it,

Gasol tries to get it inside to Reyes. But it is Butler who knocked

it away. It is Cousins who comes down and gives the ball back outside

to Kyle Lowry. Lowry driving through the digs, kicks it back outside to

Paul George. George has it knocked away by Rodriguez, the US will keep

possession but there's only six on the shot clock and we saw Durant

lurking on the outside on the other side of the court. Well Lowry takes

it to the Hoop himself, gets his own rebound and lays it in with the left

hand. We don't see quite enough of players following their own shots.

Even at this level, it's not a lost art but it's one a lot of people

stand and watch the shots. They were watching the ball come off in Spain,

because they didn't push for the re-pound, to deny the USA a second

look. Rodriguez nearly lost that to Jimmy Butler. Rodriguez for three,

doesn't hit. Durant with the rebound and he will bring it down himself.

Lowry right into the corner with George, George wants to drive, stops

and takes the fade away, hits the back of the ring and bounces out and

Rodriguez comes down for Spain now, 1.15 to play, Rodriguez behind the

back to Gasol 43. Beautiful stuff, wonderful stuff, he took a couple of

steps in, Drew the defence back, wide open for the set shot, 21-16.

That was the best part of the game for Spain, they need to improve but

at least that was encouraging from Gasol. They have another turnover

here. Carmela was looking to see if there would be a foul, he took the

two and shot an airball but that long three is off from Spain, we

come back down to Durant and he has Rudy on him, he's shoots over Rudy,

and Cousins crashes the boards and lays it in softly, 23-16, 30 seconds

to go. They are dominating the boards at the moment, you the United

States, that's making a difference for them, getting chances at the

basket and making sure the second one goes in at least.

Durant, has he called for the blocking foul with his hands? It was

Durant's shot off the rim but look at Cousins, saw the path through to

the basket, no one boxed him out and that is Gasol's three. How many big

names like him, shoot from outside? Durant is looking for a replay,

which I don't think they've put a replay upon the board, he's getting

frustrated. He wants to see exactly what it was he did wrong. But that

sends Felipe Reyes to the foul line. He's another one who is 36 years

old, he's played for real Madrid since 2004. That's consistency. He's

twice been the Spanish league's MVP, he did that, six years apart. They

look after their players, Real Madrid. He misses the second, he's a

valuable player, your prototypes hard-working big man. Makes the most

of his talent. Lowry, from three. He heads. 26-17. -- he hits. Rodriguez,

three quarters of the court, from the Copacabana, and he misses the

shot and the 3-point shot at the end gives the US probably a slightly

bigger lead than you might expect. Kevin Durant still wants to know

what it was he did to commit the foul. He is trying to demonstrate,

come on, I think that's Mr Ray from Mexico. The score at the end of one

quarter, take a look at the stats. I think the 3-pointers and the rebound

is what the United States are really dominating in and that's what has

given them the 9-point lead after the first quarter. Remember, it's a

closer 3-point circle than they used to in the NBA.

of the top ten golfers are taking part in this. Charley Hull has

dropped a couple of shots unfortunately, now at six under par,

the final round tomorrow. She's still in contention, four shots off

the lead, so if you would like to see the conclusion of the women's

golf, it's over on the Red Button right now. We are going to pop back

to the basketball. We will rejoin the commentators, into the second

period, with the USA with a 7-point lead.

COMMENTATOR: It's a two pointer if it goes, if it

doesn't, the shot clock sets to 14, not to 24, the loose ball coming and

Anthony again hits nothing. Anthony for three. Off the front of the

game, tied up for the rebound, it comes loose and there will be a

foul. It was Lowry on the ground. How hard does Spain have to work to

keep the United States from scoring? They've given them a chance after

chance. They've got away with it here. But when you have to work so

hard, then going down the other end, it must be really tiresome. Both

teams looking so desperate as well. Extraordinary stuff there are that

one going Spain's way. You saw Hernangomez, it looks worse than it

is, Lowry is going for the ball, he's not trying to trip the player

or anything like that. isn't it part of the Spain game as well, this is

where most of their bench players are on now. There's a technical

against Scariolo. There's another one. He's just signalled it twice,

you can hear what Scariolo was, it was in English and it was not a

polite term to use. He's got to stay cool, he needs to be composed

because these players need to stay composed and they can ill afford to

give the ball back. Now he's given the ball away and probably a as

well. That's from your coach, you cannot afford to have that.

Remember, this isn't football. If you slide across, it's not a foul if

you don't get the ball, it is foul, it's called a foul, but it's not an

unsportsmanlike fouls. Anthony could not, if you give him a hammer right

now he could not hit a nail. Is he the best one may have right now? No,

that's the crazy thing. He mistimed. Scariolo likes to get away with this

without the worst punishment but still, that's not good for Spain, at

a point where they needed to stay cool, their bench players are on. ,

Low was over four from the floor --, low. That's amazing. He's in the

post, the high post, they've got two in the post and the shot misses the

game. They got away with it without conceding a point, it's

extraordinary. Navarro, trying to find a way past Jimmy Butler, Jimmy

Butler knocks the ball away and here comes Lowry, at pace. Cousins coming

back up to centre screen, Jimmy Butler. The shot is off here comes

Navarro, the team captain and another 36-year-old. Crosscourt to

Rodriguez. Lowry was right there. That's going to be a foul on Paul

George. Paul George may have just picked up a technical. Yes, it is.

It seems he must have said something to the referee. He did say something

to the referee, I'm not sure what it is. You might think of it as a

make-up call. There, we've seen this one before, the tie-up and then

throw yourself out. He tied, Hernangomez in fairness had a grip

on Paul George's Amen threw himself out, Paul George complained about it

and got fatigues and you want to bet that when Carlos Navarro Womble will

not miss the foul. -- Juan-Carlos Navarro will not miss the foul. It

seems amazingly put Anthony and the line before will stop Butler has

been on the court, shooting 94% from the foul line. I couldn't agree

more. Spain have got away with that. Now they have their own technical.

In that battle of the technicals they certainly won it. Claver was

looking for Rodriguez. He is going to shoot the three. In and out and

the rebound by Jordan, who has replaced Cousins. Thompson is back

in the game from the US. Durant waiting outside. Thompson drives.

The alley up to Jordan, he sticks it through, 28-20. We haven't seen

enough of that from the US in this whole tournament. It's really the

kind of thing they can do well. Rodriguez's basket is off tip, it

goes out. Over to Rodriguez. Hernangomez set the little screen,

Rodriguez with a pass, dotted to Hernangomez butty hit the shot off

the back and they executed that really well but couldn't finish.

That's the problem, you can execute as well as you want, you need to

finish it. That's the alley up from Thompson. Reyes not even aware that

Jordan has gone inside him on the baseline. The picture of Jordan with

the Olympic gymnast, the woman gymnast, who is only 4'6", one of

the top Twitter means. That's a two. It's 30-20, three minutes gone in

the second quarter and this is the trouble for Spain. Their bench

players are on and they need to keep up with the United States and at the

moment the US are starting to pull away a little bit. If Thomson keeps

hitting those threes, they could really pull away. The problem,

Rodriguez knows someone has to shoot, the problem with having

Claver and Hernangomez and Reyes is they really don't have the shooters

who are explosive or offensive players and that's going to be a

foul on Kyrie Irving, as he's wanting to stop Reyes from getting a

pass down court. They have Calderon in the team but he doesn't seem to

play much at all. Obviously there's a fitness issue with him but at

least give him a couple of minutes. These are the three from Thompson.

Could this finally be the game where he gets going? It's been

extraordinary, the amount he has missed from 3-point range. He's got

two out of three in this game. Was it a turn in the end? He did Deb on

the line. At least he shot from the corner it will be encouraging for

him. If he makes it a two he has... INAUDIBLE

The thing I would enjoy as when coach Scariolo tells the team not to

lose their tempers. That's the trouble when you do something like

that! You can't then tell your players to stay cool. They go, what

about you? In this game... In the game where

the United States were pushed against Serbia, didn't look this

comfortable. Still a long way to go, only ten points and it and the big

players come back on and start firing for Spain... That close-up of

Anthony and Mirotic, it illustrates how difficult the referee's job is.

This is a very physical game, basketball in general, and there is

a lot of pushing and shoving. It goes on all the time and the

referees have a tough job trying to play and deciding who is giving up.

That one goes in and out, still keeping the rebounder life.

Rodriguez, really the best shooter out there. In. Used his body to keep

away from Jordan. Jordan on the rebound. Stepping back into the

corner is Butler and he is in as much red defence as anything else.

It is tapped away by Rhodri Ghezzal gets called for the fall. I think it

is just for reaching in because every time someone does that, it is

a foul. Butler, left Rodriguez alone. The referees do tend to

punish it a lot more than they do the grab and bumping up shot and

chest. He could have been called for the foul after he took the ball.

Thompson fillets three. -- for three.

Mirotic is back in the game. Navarro with the floater and it is good.

Navarro is playing with such energy right now. He has been here before

against the US and he knows what it is going to take. He has got the

mismatch with Klay Thompson down on the baseline. Mirotic is going

one-on-one with his team-mate Jimmy Butler. Claver on Butler. Tries to

put a left-handed shot up and it won't go. Look at Claver hustle,

under the basket. Navarro drives in another floater and misses but it is

tipped in by Hernangomez. Right now, Spain is outscoring the US in the

second quarter. How encouraging is this for Spain? Hernangomez with the

rebound. Rodrigues Duque dribbles back and sets up. -- Rodriguez

dribbles back. Claver! Just a two but it makes it a four point game.

Look at Calderon, he is up and screaming. United States not getting

the offensive rebound is. They keep cutting the score down. No movement

in the inside. Durant for a long three. Doesn't get it. It will be a

fall, Sjekloca on him. Every time you say something, it will be a

technical foul. He has called it an Sergio Scariolo, I think it was on

Couzins before and now an Durant, that is what you have to be aware of

and the way the game is being refereed.

United States are getting frustrated Huw. You just have to keep plugging

away. Navarro makes another one so he has

two points just from technical fouls. Spain will have possession

and it is a three point game. The US have decided to take time out and

let things cool down. I would love to see a replay of that shot. That

was so far off you wouldn't be surprised if he had been fouled. It

wasn't the usual Durant shot. Take a drink, cool down, get back into the

game. That foul was so bad, it left a handprint on his back. There it

is. Hard to tell from that angle. Hernangomez was turned around,

facing the other way. These calls are going to happen and you have to

get on with it. There is Claver from the corner. Rodrigues Duque look the

other way. There is Paul Durant. I wonder why he isn't getting more

minutes during the game? I think is a marvellous player. He had a good

season for the New York Knicks last year.

They didn't have the shooters or the playmakers. I'm sure Sergio Scariolo

knows what he's doing. He has got them within three right now with

3.36 to play in the first half. Gasol is back in. Into the corner,

Fernandez. Gasol working one-on-one with Couzins. The pass went behind

and wrote itch was already in the corner.

Draymond Green is in for the US now. That is him getting the ball.

Thompson, back to Green. Green throws it. Anthony was standing on

the baseline. I think that might have been the Mirotic. Someone

yelled and it is Mirotic who has been called for a technical. I heard

They called a foul for a Porsche and we didn't see the referee... They

called a foul for pushing Anthony. We have seen more technicals... Not

than in any other game because they're -- there was one game when

there was an injection of the coach. That is a big loss for Spain.

The second best game so far and still a half to go. If Thompson

starts firing, this could really spelt trouble for Spain. They're

like this one-on-one match up. Gasol versus Cousins. Draymond Green poked

it onto the baseline. Spain will keep possession with 2.2 to -- two

.22 remaining in the half. Reyes will drive. Anthony goes up

with the left hand and he misses but he comes up again. Thompson is

telling him, stay quiet. Exactly! Cannot afford to react at the

moment, there are technicals coming from everywhere. You can see the

hand of Reyes there. What about the offensive rebounding from Spain?

That was incredible. That is the big change from the first quarter. Spain

actually leading this quarter 13-10. The US led by seven at the end of

the first quarter. Nine, at the end of the first quarter. I was doing

the maths in my head but I was getting some help, holding up nine

fingers! Thank you for that. They were four technical fouls in

the match between Croatia and Spain. Once the referee gave it to Sergio

Scariolo... Once the referee makes a call like

that and then he backed it up with another one, he draws a line in the

sand and you cannot cross that line. Some players have learned the hard

way but hopefully now it stops. That would be the idea. Draymond Green

coming back out. Only three points so far for Caerau

Evans. The Rodriguez brings it up for

Spain. Fernandez can be a deadly shooter.

Rodriguez on Irving. Anthony hits the three. 1.20 in the half. The

shooters are picking up both there. It has been a chute -fest. -- shoot.

That went right past Cousins like he was standing still and Cousins was

gesturing to the referee like you had been held. I think we may have

some more T action here. A foul called on Reyes row. This seems

extraordinary. We will take a look. Cousins and Reyes. It was Reyes

hitting the ball when Cousins was going for it. It is technically

speaking unsportsmanlike conduct to deny the team the ball. Much as they

are applying the letter of the law at the moment. At least in some

areas. The rebound to Fernandez. What

strength shown by Fernandez. He looks a little more concerned

than usual. The coach for the USA never smiles, though. Marcus Couzens

has three fouls. Spain has 13 personal fouls. Rotich

with four. Durant and Cousins each have three. Durant is out of the

game and that is a big loss for the United States.

Fernandez has got seven. Reyes comes out. He couldn't allow any more

fouls to be conceded. Particularly any more technicals.

A 3-point lead for the US. Jimmy Butler steals the rebound, takes

Thompson and he hit another three. 45-39, and Klay Thompson's three is

the only reason right now that the US has the lead. It's wonderful to

see Klay Thompson firing at the Olympic Games. He has struggled for

most of it, but it looks like in the semifinal he has come to life.

Rodriguez once the last shot. Irving is on him. He spins it round, kicks

it back out. There is the opening shot. It doesn't matter, because he

didn't drop in. But what an interesting half. The score at the

are really tough golfers in these conditions. The wind has really

with a shout. About ten miles down the coast from where we are at the

golf course. We are at Copacabana. Inbee Park is 12 under par. Leading

the way. She is out on the course with Charley Hull who is six shots

off the lead. We will pick them up on the 18th. This is Charley 's

seven. Let's see how they play this final hole and then we will show you

something quite special. Two hole in ones on the golf course today. We

will show you after Charley Hull and Inbee Park have finished the final

dynamic with her short game that you can just about to give a par from

there anyway. But pin is not in a particularly tough place today.

Coming from the angle that she is, she knew she could put it over to

the left-hand side to give herself plenty of room. She needs an up and

down here for a round of 69. Marianne Skarpnord tapped in for

bogey. It's been a tough day for her. Finishes at three under for the

tournament. Richard Green, her partner and caddie top has very much

played a lot of European Tour golf. Nicole Broch Larsen is now plus

three. That was a round of 81. 81 for the game. That is a tough day on

the golf course. -- V Dane. Inbee Park does have a three shot

lead at the moment and she will be very keen to hang onto that. To do

that she has to get this up and down. How many times this afternoon

have we seen this get up and down and make par from this similar

situation? Par three, par four and par five. We need to go back to the

16th hole where she played a wonderful approach shot from just

off the green at 45 metres. Here is the 18th, there is the pin today. As

we do a 360 degrees, that is looking back down the fairway. Up to the

right there where Inbee Park will be coming in from.

It's not a dust storm but we've had a lot of strong winds today.

It swings right to let a little bit? It's like one o'clock action.

Hang in there. Just on the back of the green. It's going to be about 25

feet. 101 metres, or 80. She is hitting a

low eight I'm in here, that's what she got for 100 metres. -- a low

eight iron. She's just going to knock it in, control it with the

hands and the length of the swing. A full swing. Now wants her to get

down. Yes, that did seem to me a lot of club from a distance. The wind is

blowing. Well, with the upswing. Now she is in the rough stuff way over

the back of the green. Inbee Park is about the same, 83 metres. That

looks like a wedge to me. It does, doesn't it? It's about right, you

would think, with the wind. Yes, very nice. Underneath the hole.

And imminently makeable putt for Inbee Park. She has got a couple of

those on the back nine and have another chance here. Her three shot

strategy is working a treat. It has to be with this wind. A critical

shot here was the third shot, judging how strong that wind is.

Stacy Lewis didn't get it right. Clearly, Inbee Park did. With an

eight iron. Eight iron was all right if she would have punched in there.

But I was surprised to see the full swing that it was. Inbee Park, LPGA

Hall of Famer. She's got to have an out to in swing here. Take the club

outside the line. Try and cut it somehow. Like that. That went way

past the pin down to the front edge. Careful, that could roll off all the

way down the bottom. It's gone, it's gone. She's paid the price for

taking that 8-iron from 100 metres. Meanwhile, Inbee Park and Charley

Hull are waiting while we focus on Stacy Lewis. About to play her fifth

shot now. She was in good shape after two shots for a par. Now she

has got to hole this to make par. Yesterday we were in awe of the 11

currently seven back and you would have to think that is way too much

eighth place but as we have just said, she is seven shots off the

lead. Charley Hull. Looking slightly better today. It has been a testing

probably played herself out of contention. On this back nine. So

this is going to be for a round of 74. This is for bogey. So that is

extraordinary golf. That was a few moments ago so not

the third round Charley Hull would have been dreaming of this morning.

It has taken a long time to get round today. It has been

particularly slow play. The leaderboard going into the final day

the gold medal match. Can Spain cause an upset against

team USA? COMMENTATOR: Jordan with the

rebound. Mrs the short but draws the foul. It is Gasol's third. It is

tough for the Spanish when they are trying to rebound. This is Anthony.

Good timing, the ball had just left the hand. Just barely got the bottom

of the ball. Jordan tries banging it in but it

Irving comes up for it. Jordan is calling for it. He gives it the

similar amount here but it is important for them to keep knocking

them out. That is the issue and especially with Jordan going to the

foul line. Anthony missed a couple for the technical so he needs to

pick up in that area. He has already got the basket so this is a 3-point

play attack. Cousins has come back in from the US. Playing with a

centre throughout the game. Anthony hits and takes a 3-point play, it is

a ten point lead. We hit the six minute mark of the third quarter.

They get the tip in even though they can't get it to go. Gasol gets the

points. Spain really need to do well in that area to give themselves a

shot. The soft floater is short. That is

Cousins' fourth. That shot normally, he gets those comfortably. Cousins

just taking the swap there. The alternative, Cousins, they believed

he gave them better offence than they would get from Jordan. Rubio.

He finds the range. There is the Spanish women. It is a 5-point game,

5.5 to go. They have really encourage them because they come

back with ten points down and they have reduced the deficit so it

really keeps their confidence going and they believe they can do

something in this game. That was Irving at the rainbow. Shot over

Paul Gasol. Quick movement of the ball. Hernandez goes back --

Fernandez. That was deflected back from Anthony.

Rubio pokes it away from Jordan. The Spanish get it loose, Jordan throws

it down to du Rand. No foul on Llull and du Rand lays it in.

Extraordinary stuff, a little bit messy. Gasol with the rebound, kept

it alive and Hernandez picks it up and lays tin. Really impressive from

Spain, they picked it up after that first quarter. They now have ten

offensive rebound is. Compared to the United States, they are on 14,

they are really keeping up. Jordan can get the shot but left it back up

for Irving and he puts it in. I think Love is coming in along with

Rodriguez. -- Claver is coming in. Irving spins around Llull. Great

defence from Llull. Irving kicks it out to Klay Thompson and he misses

the three and Jordan swims it through. Importantly for the United

States, they have fired everyone up. Maybe a momentum shift going on.

Jordan smashing that one down, lifted his bench up. Unfortunate

that Klay Thompson missed that. You saw it in the Serbia game against

Croatia, there was a massive dunk and it completely inspired the team.

I wonder if batters had the same effect on the United States. The

United States took the time out in that situation, normally you would

have expected Spain to do that. The US have extended that 6-point lead

at half-time. We kept saying they do tend to play more on an individual

basis and it has been individual plays, like that one from Jordan.

Absolutely and they rely on that because they are so good. You have

got players coming in and being able to reduce moments like that, it

gives you a great opportunity. The coach was getting up off the bench

and was trying to point things out. I think that is why he took time out

to address something he saw on the floor. The coach still talking to

Kyle Lowry. He is coming into the game with Paul George. It has taken

some time to figure this out. Lowry just lost Rodriguez. Durant shift

out on Rodriguez. Jordan blocks the shot and Jordan is certainly

energised. Klay Thompson on the sideline as he took a pass from

Lowry. Llull might be getting into trouble himself. He really fired up.

playing and plugging away and getting those baskets. Rodriguez

tried to hand it back to Lowry. Rodriguez drives and a rant, get the

ball back. Jordan rebounds and comes up for the US. Chris Jeschke

disgusted during the time-out. -- Mike Krzyzewski. Brilliant shooting

from these individuals and their one on one ability. It's really carrying

the United States through at the moment. Given how well could

penetrate, you would think that's what they would be doing. He's got

Jordan on him, looking for the mismatch. It is Thompson on Gasol.

Gasol muscled his way in. Jordan picked it off. Watch out, Jordan

with the two-handed lamb! And they're going to call it. --

It's just a different type of refereeing but they're not

accustomed to. It's cost them two points and Jordan will have a rest.

What they've done in this situation is bring Cousins back in. They will

be happy, I guess, to get as many minutes as they can from Cousins and

then bring Jordan in. Cousins deflected it and we have a full on

Klay Thompson. -- a fall. At this point and at half-time Australia was

actually leading in their match. They really pushed at that point.

Against Serbia it was about this score up until the last few minutes,

and then Serbia really push them until the end. They got it until

three. I wonder if that's how Spain have approached. Stay in touch as

much as you can, and then push hard at the end. He is doing what works.

Navarro can get back to go. Tip in and it is 64-67 in the last minute.

What a magnificent game. DeMarcus Cousins didn't last long, he

followed him out. That is the risk he took. I have to confess, I didn't

see that one. I thought the full was out, but it didn't seem to be. It

seemed to be something happening off the ball. It was difficult to see.

Jordan has come back in the game, pulls it back with those long arms.

He gives it to Lowry. They can work for 1-shot. Thompson coming up.

have the semifinal for Lutalo Muhammad in the taekwondo. He has

looked supremely confident so far. One more bout and he then gets into

the gold-medal match. Maybe he can add that to the bronze he won four

years ago in London. That will be live at 915 for you. Let's get back

to the basketball. It's relatively tight. Team USA in a comfortable

position. COMMENTATOR: unbelievable stuff. In

a great position, and missed it. Rudy Fernandez made of the three and

stepped out of bounds as he started his move. I'm not sure the players

can see that line very well because a lot of them have been done. Bring

out. It's so close. But let missing an easy one. Klay Thompson block to

be shot, amazing stuff. I keep looking at the distance between the

three point Circle and the line. That went through yet another point.

The court seems narrower than it should be. I think it's an optical

illusion. 68-57 as Rudy Fernandez goes to the bench. Hernangomez comes

back in. It is Hernangomez and Nikola Mirotic. Another block for

Jordan. George Corral is that one in the corner and Lowry brings it up

for the US. Nearly loses the ball. Still has his dribble. On top of him

like a wrestler at the start of the match. That was tipped away by

Navarro. They keep it in play with Butler, just four on the shot block.

Releases that, it hits the rims though it is a good rebound. George

lays it in for the basket. 70-57. Mike Krzyzewski was off his seat and

on the court. He is really annoyed about something and I think they

will type the -- will take the time out, the United States. Spain have

worked though, so hard. They tipped the ball away a couple of times.

Then you don't have the offensive rebound, that is what happens. The

US ends up having the points. There is you look at the leading

scores. Gasol leaves them all with 23. It was Spain who ended up

calling the time out. I cannot read Mike Krzyzewski whatsoever. It

looked like he was really annoyed about something, but he was really

happy! That's how he displays it. Sometimes you don't get perfect

play, but you get hard work. That is perfect play. Lowry has such a soft

touch of the blast. I don't know whose foot that is so it makes it

harder to interpret what that message means. We don't even know if

it is a player's foot. It might be an important message, regardless.

Just under eight minutes to play in the game. 70-57 for the US by their

team. Navarro missed yet another rebound from Jordan. Gives it to

Lowry and Lowry brings it up. Rubio with that hand in there. Lowry moves

past him. Off the glass, carbon copy. You talk about Spain needing a

strong fourth quarter. It's not happening for them at the moment.

They haven't even scored yet. The US is getting the rebound and the

basket. And what can you do? Jordan is a monster right now and Lowry is

simply taking the ball and laying it in. Navarro doing the same thing. He

puts it in. 72-59. Maybe that is what you do? All alone for three.

George Mrs. Nikola Mirotic with the rebound. He drives, it's not away

from him by Butler. Klay Thompson brings it up. Good pass to George,

George loses the ball. If you're going to call Jordan for travelling,

you might as well called George for carrying the ball in that instance

because that's exactly what happened. It was a bit more blatant.

It seems like the US have picked up the pace a little, particularly in

the last few minutes. They probably thought Spain would come out. This

is the only basket Spain have scored in the fourth quarter. They needed a

big one because they're down by 13 points here. Is being really

dynamic. He's got such great control. Spain looked a little

tired. There is Thompson, he misses it. But the one guy who is not hired

for Spain is Navarro! Navarro is going 100 miles an hour. Or 160

kilometres an hour. Jordan's having a big game as well for the US.

Jordan just bike that one. You saw him pull his jersey. Jersey pools

are often the most obvious foul in the world. Navarro, the old boys are

carrying Spain. They are, they are relying on Gasol.

Thompson for three, hits. That is the backbreaker, just as you find

the way back into the game. That's what Klay Thompson gives you as

well. It's the first time we've seen that there the Olympic Games where

he is just so comfortable in the corner. Nikola Mirotic, his first

three of the game. He is a natural for that. 75-65, it is ten

approaching the halfway point of the fourth quarter. When one team starts

putting them away, the other gets inspired. Thompson working

one-on-one. Nobody is moving for the Americans, they will just watching

shoot. Gasol tips it to Mitroic. There is Gasol for the open three.

Mitroic on the rebound. Mitroic has done more to last five minutes and

ten seconds. There seems to be a bit of contact,

I'm not sure what it was. Lowry drew the foul. If it's a foul on Mitroic?

No, it's not. It is Larry's foul. -- it is Lowry's foul.

Jordan, can you imagine what a volleyball player he would be? When

he spiked but onto the glass. Strong, faster tempo. Try to cut off

the drives. This is Navarro. Klay Thompson, Thompson assured the

Navarro. The Jordan gets a piece of it and then Thompson comes down the

other end. Kevin Durant hasn't really been at his best in this

game, which is surprising. He still put up a number of points but they

have relied on Klay Thompson in this one who has come to the full for the

United States just when they needed someone to hit those threes. Iran

has three points, very quiet. Jordan has nine.

Rodriguez now for Spain. Gasol on Jordan. Jordan is that much quicker

than Cousins as a defender, it is harder for Gasol to try to get

around him. Almost as if they benefited from Jordan coming back on

to play a bit more because he has been brilliant for them. That time,

Irving hit it. 13 points, it doesn't even feel like he has done that much

in this game. Four minutes to play. This is it, four minutes to go and

they need to start getting on a run and stopping the United States as

well. Jordan sets the screen, Irving the three out again.

Mirotic for three and that is off. This is costing Spain another 15

seconds each. Let's see if they move through or they just go out to the

outside. Klay Thompson comes through the middle. Mirotic involved in a

little wrestling match. The shot is short. Going to be a US ball.

You work so hard to bring the shot blocked down, it is a difficult

attempt and then your opponent gets the ball back for a reset shot

clock. That was blocked by Gasol. There is the pastor Mirotic

anti-stuffs it through. Spain leading the US back down the court.

A 9-point game with three minutes to go. It felt like a deflating moment

and Spain picked themselves up. Spain playing a zone right now,

double team and the pass goes out of bounds off Rodriguez. This was a

good technique for a couple of teams. If you play zone and invite

the US to sit out side the zone and shoot, and if they are not

shooting,... Mirotic. Klay Thompson becomes very important. Irving

misses and her Mackems Spain. Rodriguez for three. -- her Mackems

Spain -- here calms Spain. The fouling has dropped dramatically

in the second half. I'm not even the hint of a technical foul. The

referee has got the job done in the second quarter, sent out the message

and the players finally got it. Six technical fouls in the quarter. Only

DeMarcus Cousins... The time had taken again by Spain and the coach

Sergio Scariolo. He is looking for threes. You can

see, the high, low post. It was a low-risk move taking the

time out. Spain now will have to look for the 3-point shots. Mirotic

had this one. If they can get that right, they are really putting

themselves in with a shot. Anthony is called for the offensive

foul on Llull. Llull was hanging on him like a cheap suit. Second-team

foul for the United States. That is a big turnover, watch here. That is

where the foul was called, you calmly. They saw something there.

It is an offensive foul. Not overcharging, for holding off with

the left hand. He went up with the shot and he was pushing with the

left hand and the referee has called it as Jordan went to the ground. A

huge moment in this game. He got him in the face, that is why. What's the

left hand. Right there, in your face. No contact from Jordan

whatsoever. If you didn't get him in the face in international

basketball, 99%, it would be a foul on the defender. Even though you

have extended the arm. He got Jordan right in the face. This is huge for

the US. Spain showing pressure, George comes in and the lay-off

misses. He gets it back and has the presence of mind to start a new

possession. George cannot get the bucket to go but it is tipped by

Anthony back to George. This is killing them. This is killing Spain

right now. They can ill afford a few attempts at the basket from the US.

Durant with the floater. That combination of the offence foul

under three shot possession has been disastrous for Spain. If the basket

is good, he gets the full shot. Another offensive foul call. There

you see it, another great call, Llull grabbed the arm. You don't see

that very often. I'm not sure I'd seen that in any of the big games.

It is going against Spain right now but they have been at fault. I can't

say I feel sorry for them but I feel for them in the sense that in

international basketball, 90 time -- 99 times out of a hundred, they will

not call that on the offensive player. USA will feel really

comfortable they can win it from her. -- here. George with the dunk.

14 seconds off the shot clock. Paul Gasol knows I think that there is

nothing much from now they can do. They are doing what they can.

Exactly, they don't give up. This is too good a basketball team to quit.

Looking for the foul. Spain can't take any time outs. It

is knocked away from du Rand by Claver. Mirotic. You know that rule

about the cylinder and you go up in the air, you are allowed to come

back down where you went up from, watch Mirotic. No one is coming

down. He came forward anyway but Mirotic comes forward, just to make

will be under 100 points. The only time that has happened was against

Serbia and Australia when they pushed into the distance and Spain

are going to push them again. That couldn't have been better if he

planned it but he missed the rebound. You heard them yelling,

hold it, from the sideline. Thompson gets trapped and comes out of it,

across the Lowry. Durant looks at the shot clock. The floater is

thrown up and Claver loc cit, he has made a couple of big plays in the

last minute. -- Claver blocks it. Remarkable, considering that play

went against Spain, with Llull being hit for the offensive foul... Rubio

is coming back on. The last time these games played an Olympic play,

the last four plays. Rodriguez with the block and they

knocked it out from the inside and that will count.

You just said it and it is absolutely true, Spain ended that

pattern of play and made it very difficult for the United States. The

US don't have that kind of team that chips away. They have to be hitting

from outside. Spain has given them all they could handle.

A pretty comfortable victory for team USA as expected. We will find

out who they will play in the final a little later. Australia take on

Serbia in the other final and we will show you some of that later.

Despite the fact it is 26 degrees, it is incredibly windy. Have a look

at this, the wind and waves are up. There are some people out there

swimming. What an absolute wipe-out that was. I hope she actually OK. Is

she there? She's still there, don't panic! That is where there is a flag

out there saying, no swimming. You can see how powerful those waves

are. I think surfing is in the Olympic roster in Tokyo Twenty20s so

maybe a bit of rehearsing going on out here. We have Lutalo Muhammad on

a young lady by the name of Jade Jones.

Defending her Olympic title, Jade Jones of Great Britain. This is the

battle for gold or silver. Gomez, Spanish fighter. She sneaks in,

takes the head shot and plans another. -- plants another.

An absolute picture perfect shot. Gomez reeling and rocking. This, a

real battle. Time for Gomez to try to do something. Jones takes

another, Gomez on the back foot. The Welsh wonder strikes gold again. To

the delight of the British fans and the Brazilian crowd. Wonderful

performance, absolute perfection. Jade Jones becomes the two times

Olympic champion. What a brilliant job Jade Jones did

last night, double Olympic champion she is now. Lutalo Muhammad just

about to come out to take on Milan Harchegani of Azerbaijan in the

semifinal. Big opportunity for him to add to the bronze medal he won

four years ago. He is supremely confident and he feels it is his

destiny to win the big medal. Their areas. If he wins this, he goes into

the gold medal match which you will be able to see later. This is the

semifinal and the talk this through it, Neil Adams and John Callum.

COMMENTATOR: three times two-minute rounds, Olympic tae kwon do. The

semifinal. Lutalo Muhammad against Beigi Harchegani. Beigi Harchegani

Muhammad. A good response from Harchegani. Tense times here in the

semifinal. I don't know how many times you said it's about leading

them in, and that body positioning is important but also the fake. That

is what they're doing all the time, just a small fake, lead them in and

lead them into the danger. Leading them into dangerous territory with

the referee. A cagey tactical stalemate, resolute

concentration on the face of Muhammed. A good front leg attempt

from the Taylor Muhammed. Just flicks it over the shoulder of

two, they will know how to approach each other. I think so, and they

will just come out in that second round. They know about the tactical

the difference between points and no points. Of course, points make

prizes and the big prize at stake here, the Olympic final. It is just

about on the horizon for both fine fighters. Lutalo Muhammad just

underneath the guard and that will be very helpful. A good start. How

often have we seen that simple kick? Just straightforward and right on

target. They're doing really well to stay in the ring, Lutalo Muhammad.

Muhammad. Beigi Harchegani has lots to look at here. This tempo suits

the British fighter. Doing really well to keep this tempo. Harchegani

coming forward a little bit more now. The referee is having a close

back. He's just waiting, and just waiting a little bit too long. The

referee has said he wants more action. There is Harchegani scoring

Muhammad a very handy 4-point lead. It has. That was a bit fortunate, I

have to say. But rules are rules. You're not allowed to hold. It could

have been all evens, but it's not. It's a healthy lead going into the

final round. Olympic tae kwon do, the art of

kicking and punching. There was the big head kick, and it. Lutalo

Muhammad, very concentrated. Harchegani up against it. That looks

like Steve Jennings, the British coach, liked that one. I think he

did and from a tactical point of view I think Harchegani is going to

have to come out all guns blazing. Muhammed has got to really

concentrate. This is the semifinal in the men's under kilograms

grouping. Lutalo Muhammad of Great Britain against Beigi Harchegani of

Azerbaijan. The Azeri is the taller of the two but the big gap is in

favour of the bridge, four points ahead. Tense times here, and Olympic
